Speaker 1 (00:17):
It says the Uncle Henry Show here on news Radio
seven ten WNT. Thank you for listening to the Uncle
Henry Show. And once again it's like a miracle in
its own way. Killer Bees, Killer Bees is back on
the Uncle Henry Show. Usually have to wait a year
or two.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Well, I lot my keys in my car last time. Sorry,
I've just been out in the parking lot waiting.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Well, we've got your keys. We saved no killer Bees.
Thank you for coming back on the Uncle Henry Show.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
My pleasure. I tell you what. You are always willing
to help us out for worthy causes. Brother, and I
just love you for that and thank you well.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I thank you for bringing worthy causes to the Uncle
Henry Show. Note ordinarily we talk about city council meetings
and stuff on Tuesday. We'll get to that tomorrow, but
right now we have a worthy cause to promote. Killer
Be's introduced the audience to who you brought in here with.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
You, Ricardo and.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Carrie.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Carrie from Wings of Life, the infamous Wings of Life
who have served many, many people in our vicinity and
around our city. A faith based rehabilitation, I would say,
program and safe house for people coming out of addiction
and it's a godly anointed thing that they do here.
(01:35):
So they have a wonderful, wonderful event coming up at
the Fairgrounds on July the twentieth. Ricardo Phillissine Buddy.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yes, hey, I'm happy to be here. Well.
Speaker 5 (01:48):
On July twentieth, we're gonna have any event that is
creating an environment of unity. We'll have carnival games, free barbecue,
sandwich win cook off, and they'll be worship music throughout
the day with the headliner of Stephen mcwater. It'll be
an awesome time. Mainly, we're just trying to bring awareness
(02:12):
of different nonprofit organizations around the city that help it
make you know that go every day. They work towards
helping in different areas. We're partnering with Under His Wing,
which helps rescue teenagers, and Victory Health is going to
be there as well.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Right, And this is gonna this is gonna be on
a Sunday, right.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Yes, sir, It's a Sunday from twelve to five thirty.
It's a free entrance, free event and it will be indoors.
I know it's the summer, but it will be in
It's going.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
To be indoors at the ground. So all of this indoors,
you get some free food and some wonderful praise music,
all indoors at the Grounds on a Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Absolutely, yes, sir, Now.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
I thank you to the Grounds for working with us.
She's they're helping sponsor this and they have really really
stepped up help make this thing work. And the gist
of it is we're bringing together churches from around the
mobile area and it's the concept is we want that
whole body of Christ that's not just between the walls
(03:15):
of a church. We need everybody to come out and
support us. Pigley Wiggley is one of the sponsors. Life
Enterprises is one of the sponsors. Our Heart Radio you've
heard of them, Yes, I have, is one of the
sponsors as well. There's also going to be a raffle
for an outdoor kitchen nice at the event. There will
be choirs and bands. I think is there a competition
(03:39):
of the bands from different churches? And I think there's
a sizeable prize for the best worship band. Yes, and
so now, Carrie, how will people choose who wins that competition?
Speaker 6 (03:52):
Okay, So what we have going on is it's called
Music for missions and any worship team or choir or
praise team in the mobile area can enter and the
winner received six thousand dollars towards any mission of their church.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Wow. Yeah, that's a lot of money.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
That's an amazing prize. And the way that we vote,
the way that we choose the winner is by vote.
So every person that comes in the grounds that day
receives a coin to vote with. There are you can
buy extra tokens for purchase, but everybody gets a vote,
and so it's going to be chosen by the people
that attend. So we already have some great worship bands
(04:32):
that are already signed up, but we need some more.
So if anybody's listening it wants to sign up, we
can give you our website which is Light of Life
Festival dot org and you can sign up right on there.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Okay, so this event is called Light of Life, Yes,
Light of Life Festival dot org. Now it's also some
back to school stuff, right, what do you have for
back to school?
Speaker 5 (04:54):
Yes, sir, we'll have some back to school supplies. I
know this year they won't. We don't need to provide backpack.
I think they changed a little bit on the district,
but we will have school supplies and haircuts as well.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Haircuts, yes, sir, free haircuts.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Isn't that a wonderful things?
Speaker 2 (05:11):
It's not me, so you're.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Not going to be doing it. You did your parents
ever cut you hair when you were going to be
killing me?
Speaker 3 (05:18):
The bowl haircut?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yes, my dad didn't know to trim around my ears
and not go to school. And it looked like I
had like Fender whales over. I thought I was trying
to create a fad. So if you have bad haircuts,
come out.
Speaker 7 (05:31):
And now.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Stephen mcwerd, who is who is the headlining act, is
a very prolific writer and one of his songs was actually.
Speaker 6 (05:43):
On what American idol, Come Jesus Come. He's the songwriter
for Come Jesus Come. C. C. Winings is currently singing it.
But he's an anointed worship leader.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Wow, okay. So that is all going to be on Sunday,
July twentieth at the ground Spree event Light of Life
Festival with free haircuts, preschool supplies, barbecue sandwiches, all that
praise music. Now, killerbe's why why are you promoting this?
What do you like about Wings of Life?
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Well? I love Wings of Life because we know so
many people that have been through that program and they
change lives and they do it in a faith based way.
And you and I've had this discussion a lot about
how blessed I have been in my career, and for
so many years did not steward over that blessing the
way I should have and came to the awakening the
(06:33):
realization that God is in control and that's where these
blessings come from. And that's what this organization is all about.
And so it just touches my heart. We know so
many folks that have been through that program and have
changed their lives, and I mean from just the gutter
to successful people, and it's so inspiring to see that
(06:57):
and so that and it's just once again touched my
heart and I just love that.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
How many people is Wings of Life helping right now? Currently?
Speaker 6 (07:07):
So currently we have about twenty women and twenty men.
So three years ago we actually started taking whole families,
so we take men, women, married couples, and whole families.
So we not only have twenty men and twenty women
right now, we have six children on the campus as well.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Wow, Okay, and I know that we're talking right now
about the Light of Life fest over. But how would
people contact Wings of Life? People listening who know someone
who could needs that program?
Speaker 6 (07:38):
Absolutely, they would just give us a call. That's two
five one seven five one five four three three, that's
seven five to one life.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
How how long do most people stay at Wings of Life?
Is it different for each person?
Speaker 6 (07:51):
Well, our initial program is ninety days, so we want
everybody to stay the ninety days, but if they're not
ready to go home, they have the option staying longer.
So we have three months, six months, and even a
year program after that.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Okay, Wings of Life people a mobile, very familiar with
Wings of Life and love the work they do. We're
going to be taking a time out here for some
traffic and weather and words from our sponsors, and then
more about the Light of Life Festival. We're going to
talk more about Wings of Life. We're going to talk
more to killer Bees about a variety of things. All
(08:26):
of that coming up as the Uncle Henry Show continues
here on news radio seven to ten WNTM. Uncle Henry Show,
News Radio seven to ten WNTM. It's five twenty news
headlines coming up in ten minutes before we get to
(08:51):
the news headlines. More from our guests. Killer Bees is here.
He brought Ricardo and carry from the Wings of Life
to talk about a big festival coming up July twentieth. Sunday,
July twentieth. They're having a big festival at the grounds indoors.
It's the Light of Life festival with a lot of
praise music. There's going to be school supplies for kids,
(09:13):
free haircuts for kids. There's a big music prize. We'll
talk about that again later. But Ricardo, when you when
I first asked you about this, you gave this answer
of this is about unity. Now what please explain more
why you even want to have this festival. Why do
the churches need to come together?
Speaker 5 (09:32):
Well, close to two years ago there I had a
vision that lit my heart on fire, and I just saw,
you know, families coming together. We have a big attack
on the nucleus of the family. Right parents one direction
and showed there another direction. So just the festival came
like a fair, and a fair where not only people
(09:55):
were having fun and interacting between parents and children, but
they were seeing seeing the love of Christ. You know,
at a time where there's so much division, people need
a demonstration of a unity.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
It looks like.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
So it's important to have multiple churches come together for
one day just to give worship to Jesus, not so
much to explain Jesus, but to demonstrate it. What does
he look like? What does unity look like? What does
peace look like? What does interaction between parents and children
look like? So that's the why behind the light of Life?
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Okay, so I'll love that great. Well, what has the
reaction been so far from other churches in Mobile County?
Are other churches excited about being a part of this?
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Yes, absolutely they are.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
Miss Carrie has actually been doing a lot more of
the talking to the churches.
Speaker 6 (10:46):
Yes, so, we have quite a few churches that have
come on board. We want every denomination represented. This is
not about any certain denomination. We literally want every denomination
represented theirs and we've had quite a few churches and
any church that wants to be a part of this,
we want to offer you a free, free booth, free
of charge to come and tell people about your church,
(11:09):
pray for people, talk to people. And also we want
you to come and set up a carnival like game
at your booth so that we can make it fun
for like all the adults and all the children that
come through. So any nonprofit or any church that wants
to be a part of this, please call us at
two five one seven five one five four three three
or go to the website which is Light of Life
(11:33):
Festival dot org and you can sign up there, or
you can call that number and we'll get you signed up.
And like I said, it's free. We want every denomination represented.
I'll say it one more.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Time, bringship band to bring your sign up.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Sign up ahead of time though, So we.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Want a thousand dollars. Yes, yes, and everybody gets to vote.
Everybody who enters gets a coin to vote for their favorite.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
So the more people, yes, if you have a band
in there, the more people they can bring, the more
votes they get. And so that's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
That was barbecue mentioned earlier.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
I love barbecue.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Is that going to be happening?
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yes, So there's that.
Speaker 6 (12:11):
And it's such on Sunday, So after church, you know,
you always go somewhere to eat, So come there after
church and every person that walks to the door gets
a free barbecue meal after church that day.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Now I noticed that music is a big, big part
of this Killer Bees. You've how many guitars do you
own you have a lot of guitars at present?
Speaker 2 (12:30):
I am really down to only maybe eight if you count.
If you count, that aren't put together?
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Okay, So have you ever? Have you ever played praise
music yourself? Have you start a half? Well, tell me
about this.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
I have.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
I took my stratocaster at my forty Watt Marshall combo
amp and sat in on several occasions with the worship
band that revived church mobile where we go sometimes I
play my telecaster. I just got to tell you that
I didn't play my less Paul because my name is
on the fret board. It says Killer Beason. I'm afraid
(13:09):
that would be bragging, so kind of even mentioned that
I have that beautiful custom guitar in my collection. But
I've got, you know, a couple, Okay, I've got a couple.
I'm not a great player, but I do good guitar face?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Are you?
Speaker 2 (13:25):
I make it look really hard?
Speaker 1 (13:27):
So do you do you get excited by praise music?
Do you enjoy that the modern praise music in churches
these days?
Speaker 2 (13:33):
I do, and I like the musical part. My ears
are weird. I can't understand lyrics as well in songs
as most people. I've been like that my entire life.
So I am more in tuned with the tonal and
modal aspects of the music itself. And I like music
(13:53):
that moves me. And this day and age, worship music
moves you because it's a celebration and it's not morose
and sad like some of the old hymns we did
as I was growing up in church. So so that's
kind of one of my quirks.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
I guess, well, how did how did music become such
a big part of this?
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Well, the Bible says, uh to sing songs of prey
make a joyful sound.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Well, yeah, I know that's in the Bible, but I
mean this event itself, why how did music become a
big this? You've got a known uh Stephen mcwater uh
nationally known, may probably internationally known. How did you get
music to be a big part of this event? Why?
Speaker 5 (14:40):
Well, I guess when I was I don't guess, But
when the vision. When I saw the vision, you know,
I imagine something like Woodstock, you know, non stock.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Now Woodstock people were taking drugs. They were naked, they
were naked taking drugsfied.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Right worshiping God. You see, music was created to glory God. Okay,
and we are again being a demonstration of what that
looks like.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
So music has to be a part of them.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Oh, this would be the flip side of what would
the good use of good?
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Yes, sir.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
And we'll have carnival games throughout the day and the
kids zone, so there'll be a petting zoo, a lot
of activities that will definitely keep everybody occupied and with
smiles in their faces.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
And so far, now you mentioned you're already looking for
other praise teams to come out of anybody that does music,
appraise music, could even one person sign up for this?
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Well, what do you think?
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Sure?
Speaker 6 (15:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (15:39):
Me?
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Why not?
Speaker 6 (15:40):
So if a church, a church worship team signs up
for it, they would win six thousand dollars towards any
mission of that church.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (15:49):
If it's an independent band, which we've had a couple
that have signed up that aren't part of a church necessarily,
they would still get the six thousand, but it would
go to one of the missions of this fun of this.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Festival, Okay, So making sure, yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
Absolutely, we encourage anybody to sign up as long as
it's Christian music, Okay.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
And you said you would like to see every denomination represented. Yes,
are there some denominations we need to specifically call out
and say please show.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Up right now, all of them?
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Okay, yeah, every denomination, Catholic, Baptist, non Denominational, Methodists, any
of them.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
It's a shared car.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
We want everybody to be there because we want, like
Ricardo said, to show people there're gonna be people there
that may not even be Christians, that it may not
even be believers, but we want them to see something different.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Now, God does command the blessing where there's unity, and
we're all waiting for the blessing and the move of God,
and it'll happen in environments like these. We have to
start facilitating environments of unity where God will command the blessing.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Okay again, this event is Sunday, July twe twentieth indoors,
so you don't sweat. It's gonna be at the grounds
absolutely free to get in. Lightoflife Festival dot org is
the website. Light of Life Festival dot org. Gonna take
our time out for news and then back after the
news break with more from Killer Bees and Wings of
(17:19):
Life here on the Uncle Henry Show. Uncle Henry Show
here on news Radio seventy ten WNTM. It's five thirty five.
(17:42):
Killer Bees is back on the Uncle Henry Show. And
every time Killer Bees comes to the Uncle Henry Show
these days, he brings a bunch of church folk.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
They have the best food.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
They do, chicken they do. They have kept the casserole
a lot in our country. Now, Killer Bees, you brought
people here from Wings of Life We're going to talk
about the Light of Life Festival. This is a brand
new event happening Sunday, July twentieth at the Grounds indoors,
a big unity event for churches all throughout Mobile County.
Real quick, I've got a quick Killer Bees question to
(18:17):
ask before we talk about it. Yes, sir, I know
you just naturally. You're a great, just great in conversation,
making people laugh, whether you're on stage or where you're
having a conversation with one person. I'm just curious, have
you been funny giving eulogies?
Speaker 2 (18:36):
I have never given a eulogy. You've never given a eulogy.
I've never given a eulogy. But I did live in
a funeral home as a toddler, and this which as
a and then as a teenager, I worked in a
funeral home with Jackson, Mississippi. I was an apprentice and bomber.
But according to the people, the powers that be that
(18:57):
ran that funeral home, I was a little bit too
funny to be allowed to speak during funerals.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Oh wow, Okay, Well, just curious because I know that
your nature would probably you would feel a strong urge
to be funny during a eulogy.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
I would feel a strong urge to be funny if
it was my funeral.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Dude, you say, right, so killer Bey's We have people
that have just tuned in because it's right after five
point thirty. Hey, y'all, why do you why do you
why are you promoting this Light of Life festival? Why
do you feel it's important enough that you want to
get behind that?
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Well, one, I love good things. I love good deeds.
I love people helping other people, and so much of
that is rooted in the teachings of Christ. You know, God,
God is a big thing in my life and my
wife Terry. And to see people follow the commandments of
(19:54):
helping others and going out of their way to lift
people up amaze as it impresses me, and I want
to be around that that's one of the reasons that
we have the affiliation with Wings of Life. They've helped
so many people come out of addiction, come off the streets,
get their life together, get set on a proper path
(20:17):
that it humbles me to see people and be around
people that do that kind of work. And so I
love being a part of it, even peripherally. And the
people we have with us, Ricardo and Carrie are deep
into that. They're the warriors that are doing it, and
anything I can do to help and facilitate their projects
(20:42):
is a wonderful worthwhile.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Okay, so again, this is a Sunday, June twentieth indoors
at the Grounds in Westmobile.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
And the grounds have been great, man. They have really
worked with us as one of our sponsors. They've really
stepped up to make it and I'll just say it,
like this affordable for us.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
To do it.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
They've really really stepped up and have helped and or
taken on part of the workload for us.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Okay, Now, this is gonna be from noon to five
thirty on that Sunday. Now, Ricardo and carry you've told
us that there's gonna be a lot of praise music,
including live performance from Stephen mcwerter, a known internationally known artist.
You're you, but you're also gonna have a lot of
churches there as well. What's gonna be going on inside
(21:28):
during all of this is it constant music? What's what's
gonna what's gonna be like to be there?
Speaker 5 (21:32):
Well, it'll be like a carnival setting, like a like
a fair. You know, it's gonna be carnival games where
it'll be for adults and children combined where they can
they can unify the family. There's gonna have a kid zone,
there's gonna be a pettings area that we're gonna have
a wing cook off, and so there's gonna be different
things going on that people can join.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
In and have fun.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
Whatever people feel like doing at any given moment, it'll
be something there for.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Them to do.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
And again, launch and lots of praise music, Carrie, you
mentioned before for the new listener you are looking for
more people to enter this. This is kind of a
competition for people that play praise music.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Yes, that's correct. It's a contest.
Speaker 6 (22:17):
I don't like to say Battle of the bands, but
people may can relate to that saying. But it's music
for mission. So any praise team, any praise worship team,
any choir in the area that wants to enter. You
will come and you'll be able to perform, and the
winner will be decided by vote. The people that attend
get to vote, and the winner wins six thousand dollars
(22:38):
to go towards a mission of their church. And that's
pretty amazing. And plus we get to hear a lot
of good worship music while they're doing it.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Absolutely, now you've also got a raffle. Talk about the raffle.
Speaker 6 (22:50):
So yes, we have an amazing raffle. We are raffling
off a outdoor kitchen. It's a fifteen thousand dollars value
because not only as do you get the kitchen, the
outdoor kitchen, but you also get complete installation of that kitchen.
And we're still in the raffle tickets for only twenty dollars.
So that's a win win right there. And so we
just you have to be present to win. So we
(23:12):
just would would love everybody to come and enter that raffle.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Well, Carrie, what if I wanted to come and bring
my kids but they needed haircuts before they go to school?
What would I do? Can I bring them with Shaggy Hays.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Absolutely, yes, we have.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
We have free haircut We have several people giving free
back to school haircuts for the kiddos. We have back
to school school supplies. We have, like Ricardo said, the
kids own carnival games, lots of carnival games, and bouncy houses,
face painting, wings cookoff, a little bit of everything for everybody.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
And now what would that website be again if I
wanted to get online and find out.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
More Light of Light Festival dot org, Light of Life,
Light Festival dot Org.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Ricardo, you mentioned that there's going to be a wing cookoff.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
Yes, sir, there will be a wing cook off.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Who's cooking the wings?
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Well, whoever signs up to be a participant.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
So this is pretty much anything you want, isn't it?
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Yes, sir, I mean is there's so many things all
in that.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
I mean, I don't know that I could afford parking though,
we'll parking, yes.
Speaker 6 (24:24):
Pretty Oh you can afford it, Yes you can.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Okay, So all of that is free again. This is
July twentieth at the grounds. Now, Ricardo and Carry, you're
both with the Wings of Life, right, yes, yes, oh, Carry,
what brought you to Wings of Life?
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Well.
Speaker 6 (24:39):
Thirteen years ago. I'm a former nurse who got addicted
to pain medication by accident after his shoulder injury, and
that addiction let me down a long, dark road. And
at the end of my addiction, I was living homeless
on the streets in Dallas, Texas, and one night in
twenty eight degree weather, I cried out to God and
ask him to save me or kill me because I
(25:00):
could not live like that anymore. And through a series
of events that only God could orchestrate, he brought me
from Dallas, Texas to Mobile, Alabama, thirteen years ago, to
the Wings of Life. I had never been to Mobile,
never been to Alabama, never thought I would be in
my life, but He orchestrated me coming and I walked
in the doors thirteen years ago Wings of Life when
it was still downtown. I welcomed with open arms and love,
(25:23):
and I surrendered my life to the Lord. And my
life has never been the same and so now full circle.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Stayed at the.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
Wings, ended up working there for five years, moved back
to Texas, and then God called me and my husband
back about three and a half years ago to run
the Wings of Life.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
Wow. And I know that as an abbreviated version of
your story. But what an incredible story it is, even
abbreviated like that, to go from being a nurse to
being homeless on the street. Yeah, I mean you've seen
the peaks in the valleys, haven't you?
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Yes? Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (26:01):
What is special about Wings of Life?
Speaker 6 (26:04):
The love, the grace, the mercy. You know, I was
an addiction, so I was in several other rehabs before
coming to the Wings of Life. But when I came
to the Wings of Life, it was a special place
because just the love, the grace, the mercy. I had
never seen that before. And it's so it's family oriented
and we believe in saving the family and actually transform
(26:27):
helping people to get transformed so they can go out
and transform the world.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
And Ricardo, how long have you been with Wings of Life?
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Officially two years, but I started coming three years ago.
I would come once a month for one week, and
then within that year I thought God was calling me
to be full time at the Wings and I've been
there two years now.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
In staff, all right, we are now going into a break.
I want to ask you a little bit more about that.
When we come back here. We have a few minutes
left with Killer Bees, Ricardo and carry with the Wings
of Life talking about the Light of Life Festival that
is happening in July twentieth. Lightoflife Festival dot org is
the website back with more in a moment on The
(27:13):
Uncle Henry Show These Radio seven to ten WNTIM The
Uncle Henry Show. Killer Bees came back to The Uncle
Henry Show to promote the Light of Life Festival. The
Light of Light Festival happens July twentieth indoors at the Grounds.
(27:35):
It's a big it's a festival indoors that's very churchy.
You're gonna have praise music the whole time.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
It's a Jesus festival. Jesus festival just churchy. It's more
than churchmen together and celebrating. We want churches from all
over the community within the sound of our voices. We
want everybody to get involved. There's a free barbecue lunch
at noon, Houses of Petting Zoo which I will not
be in, carnival games, free back to school haircuts, a
(28:08):
wings cookoff, and if you've got twenty bucks and need
an outdoor kitchen and don't know where to find that,
there's a raffle an outdoor kitchen of fifteen thousand dollar
value installed. We'll have that drawing. There is a sound
off it says here and we're trying not to say
(28:28):
Battle of the Bands. What it kind of is for
the worship bands from the churches. There'll be a competition.
The winner gets a whopping six thousand dollars, which is
amazing it is. There'll be free school supplies while while
they last. And we have a headlining performer Stephen mcwerter,
(28:52):
who is.
Speaker 10 (28:52):
What song was on what show Come Jesus Come, Oh gosh,
I'm sorry, I don't I can't sing? And what major
American idol CC winings he's the songwriter for that.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Yes, yes, so we got that going on and uh
information light Offlife Festival dot org and it is presented
by the Wings and Carry and Ricardo from the Wings
are here, but we wing the Wings of Life. Now
Life Enterprises, let's touch on that real quick.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
Yes, well, Life Enterprises is a social enterprise. Uh that
was that started a few years ago. And we do
all outdoor installations which is paper patios, water features, outdoor kitchens, uh,
plant packages. And we also do remodeling, any bathroom remodels,
(29:44):
any tilework, flooring and all the proceeds goes to fund
the Wings of Life.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
And it is members of the Wings that are in
this organization, right, yes, so we we.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
Do higher We do high on staff, professional craftsmen, and
combined there's like fifty years experience throughout the trades, and
depending on where they are in the program, we take
them out to help them help us out on the field.
And really, you know, we find that there's much a
success rate now that they're able to go work because
(30:20):
sitting around, you know, sometimes we can get too depressed.
And even though you know the Word of God is
absolutely amazing and worship but if you're just reading the
world all day and worshiping all that, that's not realistic
to life, right, we have to go out of work
we have and being a Christian is knowing how to
interact with people. So that's really what life enterprises, does,
you know. It shows the man and everybody involved, how
(30:44):
to be a man of integrity, how to be on time,
how to handle your emotions and feelings when something's not
going right on the job side, while giving everybody hope
and also helping them be a part of contributing to
the Wings of Live.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
A full circle.
Speaker 5 (31:01):
As they're getting healed, they're helping bring in funds to
help other families be healed.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
That are so awesome. Man, that are so awesome. Now
carry bands. We need bands for this competition. We need
churches involved, all the churches. How do we get information
about this festival?
Speaker 6 (31:21):
We if we do need bands, more bands, more praise
bands or choirs to enter the Music for Missions contest,
and we would love to have more churches sign up.
You get a free booth so you can have a
free booth to tell people about your church and your
place of worship, to pray for people, and to also
offer a fun game. But we would love to have
(31:42):
you if you could call at seven five one five
four three three that's two five one seven five one
five four three three or visit our website Lightoflife Festival
dot org. And our website has all the information that
we're talking about today, so if you just want to
check it out, that'd be great.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
And we're wanting the churches to meet other churches. Yeah,
a big deal is we want to interact with other
churches and see who our brothers and sisters are that
we've never met that are in different parts of the city.
So it's a it's a coming together.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Yeah, we're a body. We need to meet our brothers
and sisters.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
I like that. All right, Well, we've got only about
a minute left here in the show, So Carrie and Ricardo,
great to meet you both. I hope that this festival.
I hope you have too many people. That's why I
hope for you. Hope you have too many people out
there at the grounds on July twentieth, Killer Beast, Thank
you for bringing some more great people into the Uncle
(32:45):
Henry Show.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Hey, thank you for letting me sneak that key to
the building out there of the day, so I'll be back.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Okay, Well, good bring bring more things like this to
the Uncle Henry Show. Always room for something like this here.
All right, we are we're out of time again. Lightofliffestival
dot org is the website. Going to take a time
out now for news headlines coming up and then a
little bit more Uncle Henry Show. We had the big
Amtrak announcement today and we'll get into all of that
(33:14):
after the news break here on news radio seven to
ten WNTAM The Uncle Henry Show. Remember, you can listen
to the podcast on the iHeartRadio app This is the
(33:48):
Uncle Henry Show here on News Radio seven ten WNTM.
Thank you, thank you for listening to the Uncle Hevers Show.
I appreciate that bear very much. Now in this half
hour of show, going to get to some news items.
Big news and Mobile today was that Amtrak held a
press conference to talk about the Chee Choo train that's
(34:11):
going to be going between Mobile and New Orleans. They've
announced that the service is going to start August eighteenth. Yes,
August eighteenth, they start the Chee Choo train service, the
Mobile Mardi Gras drunk train from Mobile to New Orleans
and back. Now, first let's listen to Mayor Stimpson. Mayor Stimpson,
(34:34):
who's at the Mobile City Council meeting today after the
press conference. This is what the mayor had to say
about the chea Choo train.
Speaker 11 (34:41):
This morning, an exoment citing announcement that many Mobilans.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Now, let me pause here just to warn you, I
forgot to do this. I always have to be careful
playing Mayor Stimpson on the radio because his charisma can
be so overwhelming. It might even be difficult to drive
when you're o with his personal charisma. But do not
be overwhelmed if you have to turn the sound down
or something like that, or pull over. I don't want
you to stop listening, So maybe you could pull over
(35:08):
to listen to him, all right, The mayor, the charismatic
Standy Simpson.
Speaker 11 (35:13):
Been waiting to hear, waiting years to hear. And that
has to do with the Amtrak and they will officially
launch it's what they're calling the Moneygros service between Mobile
and New Orleans. And you can be buying tickets today
by going on the amsite.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Website Amtrak website.
Speaker 11 (35:31):
The tickets about fifteen dollars between here and New Orleans.
And some of that will different.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Now, by the way, the fifteen dollars ticket, that will
fluctuate according to demand. Just see you know it's not
don't get shocked when you go in there. If the
ticket ain't fifteen. It will fluctuate for demand.
Speaker 11 (35:53):
Tend on this one way ticket. It will depend on
the schedule and what class that I'll call it, coach,
I'm not sure what they call it. But the normal
fair would be fifteen dollars anyway, that would be August eighteenth.
Of those are interested in going to New Orleans, go ahead,
and strut buying your tickets. And we have a lot
(36:15):
of partners in this, the city Council. Obviously, there was
a lot of discussion about Amtrak, but we finally got
to a place where we were comfortable and approving the contract.
Couldn't have done it without Governor k Ivy and the
Alabama State Port Authority, the CSX, and the amtrakt and
Portomobile worked closely to hammer out the contract that's necessary
(36:38):
for the amtract to run on those rails, Southern Rail
Commission and of course Amtrack. Anyway, it's going to be
really interesting to see how this plays out. We have
a three year contract.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
It's going to be real interesting to see how this
plays out, isn't it.
Speaker 11 (36:55):
During the first year we will we will be able
to quantify what is bringing to the city mobile, whether
it's beneficial to us or whether it's not. So a
future city councilor in future mayor will be able to
make a more informed decision about further investment in Amtrak.
And I think that's a great place to be. But anyway,
(37:16):
all aboard for those that want to ride the train
to New Orleans.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
Okay, So that was Mayor Standy Simpson talking about the
Chi Choo train, the Mardi Gras drunk train between Mobile
and New Orleans. Now for more on this, let's now
go to Fox ten. This was the reporting from the
investigative reporter Brending Kirby earlier today on Fox ten about
the Chuo Choo train announcement today to our.
Speaker 12 (37:41):
Big local story of the day. We've known since last
year that Amtrak was going to restart passenger rail service
Inmobile after a two decade interruption. Well today we got
those details. Foxtenn's Brendan Kirby is live now at the
Amtrak stop still under construction in downtown Mobile, and Brendan
people can start booking trips today, right, Yeah, that's right, Asklan.
Speaker 8 (38:07):
And it's going to take place here at the train stop.
Speaker 7 (38:09):
Their signs already up and as you can see, workers
are putting the finishing touches on that platform.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Now apologize, he says, as you can see. Unfortunately radio
still does not have pictures.
Speaker 9 (38:22):
Now.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
I know we're working on We're still trying to fix this.
We're trying to work on that, but no pictures. You'll
have to create your own mental imagery in your head.
You just heard him say, as you can see, I
was watching the video. I couldn't figure out what on
earth they were doing behind him, But God bless them all.
Speaker 8 (38:38):
Here's what we learned this morning.
Speaker 7 (38:40):
The first train will run on August eighteenth, that's a Monday.
Amtrak officials say that bears will fluctuate from day to
day based on demand, but that the one way tickets
will be as low as fifteen dollars. Those tickets can
be purchased today, although some people have experienced glitches.
Speaker 8 (38:56):
On the website.
Speaker 7 (38:57):
The train is going to run twice a day, leaving
Mobil at six thirty am and four thirty pm.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Six thirty am and four thirty pm. Leaving Mobile, it.
Speaker 7 (39:07):
Will stop in four Mississippi cities before arriving in New
Orleans at ten thirty am and eight thirteen pm, respectively.
Speaker 8 (39:15):
The trains returning.
Speaker 7 (39:16):
The Mobile will arrive at eleven, eighteen am and nine
fourteen pm. There will be discounts for children's, students, veterans,
and seniors.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Good. I like a senior discount. We need more of this.
Why there should be more, more deeper senior discounts.
Speaker 7 (39:32):
And as a special promotion for this launch, passengers signed
up for Amtrak's rewards program will earn triple points. Nicole Busich,
Amtrak's vice president of Network Development and State supported Service,
alluded to the years of negotiations and sometimes skepticism that.
Speaker 8 (39:49):
It took to restore the service.
Speaker 9 (39:52):
I can think of one word that can use that
we can use to describe how we feel today, and
that word is finally, and thanks to everyone, we can
finally say welcome aboard.
Speaker 8 (40:12):
And Amtrak is trying to give this a local feel.
And it's not just the name. The service is going
to feature a.
Speaker 7 (40:20):
Local menu in the dining car of such favorites as
muffalada and Moonpies.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
So a local when you want a local feel, you
include a moonpie. All right, well, and that's an inexpensive
local feel.
Speaker 7 (40:36):
Today and Mobile was the first of six plan News
conferences all along the Gulf Coast. And we're gonna have
continuing coverage coming up at Fox and News at four
and five, recording live in Mobile.
Speaker 8 (40:47):
Brendan Kirby Box ten News.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
All right, very good. And I looked on the Lamyak
website Lambyakmobile dot com. They have more information on this
in the Lambyak story. Let me see who wrote this
the Lamyak Story, written by Brady Petrie. He writes that
when they went on the Amtrak website this morning to
(41:10):
buy coach tickets, they had coach tickets at twenty four
dollars one way for the Chu Chu train, and business
tickets whatever that would be as fifty nine dollars one way.
All right, I wonder what a business ticket'll get you
fifty nine dollars one way. And it says that all
(41:31):
of the trip times online, when you look at how
long it'll take to ride the Chuchu train the Marti
Gras drunk train to New Orleans, that it will take
roughly three hours and forty five minutes to get from
Mobile to New Orleans on the chi Choo train three
(41:53):
hours and forty five minutes to get there. That's about
the amount of time it would take to watch in
SEC football game on television. All right, Well, I hope
it's so successful that somehow it doesn't have to be
subsidized completely and totally by taxpayers. All right, look back
(42:15):
after the break. We have a break, and then more
Uncle Henry Show coming up.
Speaker 13 (42:19):
Back after the break, take the break.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
This is the Uncle Henry Show here on News radio.
Seven ten WNTM News headlines coming up in ten minutes.
Before we get to the news headlines, a couple of
more news items for you now. As you have heard,
if you've listened on the Uncle Henry Show, a new
(42:58):
laws in effect today Alabama that limits the sale of
hemp and THC products in Alabama. So people were buying
this hemp and these other THC products and using them,
but now they can't. Now it has become a felony.
Speaker 14 (43:17):
Now.
Speaker 1 (43:18):
I got some calls on this yesterday on the Uncle
Terry Show from people that did not agree with this.
Some like a snake trapper. I think, yes, snake trapper
for example called in and longtime caller Bert and I
think was it LD? I think maybe even LD the
mad truck or not liking this. Let's see. Here is
(43:38):
a report. This was from w SFATV step sister station
to Foxten. They did this last night. This describes what
is going on with this new bill. Well, it's now
a new law in effect today.
Speaker 15 (43:55):
A new state law takes effect at midnight tonight limiting
the sale of hemp and THHC products in Alabama.
Speaker 7 (44:03):
Hearing earlier today resolved a lawsuit that had been filed
against the law, but a group of marijuana sellers still
has concerns.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
WSF phase a group of marijuana sellers, do we have
any of I thought we didn't have any of those
in Alabama, only hemp sellers.
Speaker 15 (44:18):
What News reporter Simon Schusler has more on today's hearing
and reaction from the Alabama Cannabis Coalition and Simon, the
court today chose not to prevent this law from taking effect.
Speaker 16 (44:32):
Yeah, val, We just got a brief, two sentence order
from the court late this afternoon, and it denies the
plaintiff's request for both a temporary restraining order as well
as a preliminary injunction. That means that much of HB
four to forty five will go into effect in less
than two hours from now, on July first, as previously planned.
Speaker 17 (44:55):
It would be a devastating blow.
Speaker 16 (44:57):
For Alabamians that rely on hemp rived products to make
a living. I've spoken with several local business owners since
the bill passed the legislature.
Speaker 17 (45:06):
Some stores will be hit harder than others.
Speaker 16 (45:08):
As much as seventy five percent of some businesses will
now be considered a classy felony. That's because the smokable
products that are banned in this bill are top sellers,
and many of the consumable products currently sold are too
potent under the new law.
Speaker 18 (45:25):
But you're going to have a lot of people that
I mean, we're talking about white collar, blue collar mom, dad,
different people from different walks that have used the fates
and some who obviously use the flowers and a lot
of flowers been purchased that you know, they're going to
have to clean out their vehicles, They're gonna have to
be concerned with what's in their home or their bags
(45:45):
or briefcase. I mean, did you drop a vate pin
down in your suitcase? Because from today it would be
a legal product starting to mar it's a Class C felony.
That's ten years.
Speaker 16 (46:00):
And the order also clarifies that the bill does not
prohibit the interstate commerce of hemp products through Alabama, meaning
that if someone is transporting a smokable hemp product from
say Georgia to Mississippi, but they have to go through
Alabama to get there, that is allowed.
Speaker 17 (46:16):
Now the lawsuit asks for several declar races.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
All right, this is I'm confused by this. So you
can drive it through the state you can transport it
through the state, but you can't have it on you
in the state. So if you were if snake trapper
were sitting in a lawn chair with one of the
with a one of these hemp things, some potent hemp
(46:40):
gummy that he's about to chew on, that would be illegal.
But if you were driving it from from Georgia to Mississippi,
it would be all right. I'm a little confused. All right,
real quick. I did get a voicemail on the topic
from RT. Let me hear what RT had to say.
(47:01):
How about all of this?
Speaker 19 (47:05):
Hey, good afternoon, Uncle Henry. I'm trying to call a show.
Can't get through. But that's okay. This is urt anyway,
by how you doing today? Good the marijuana discussions I'm hearing.
I believe the majority of people, the majority of people
(47:29):
here and in the country that support marijuana or Democrats,
And I believe the writer of the legislation and the
reason we had this law it's because of a Democrat.
I think her name is Barbara Druming, And I just
(47:51):
find that very very interesting. And so you voters who
are Democrat out there who are upset with this, don't
be made at ky Ivey for signing that this is
a Barber Drumming bill a Democrat.
Speaker 14 (48:09):
Think about that, you know there is. They're not representing you.
If you think Democrats are representing you, they're not. Anyway,
have a great day, roll tied.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
Roll all right, roll tide. Thank you for the roll tide, Rtie.
I don't, I don't. I haven't looked to see who
put that bill together. I don't know if Barbara Drumming
had anything to do with it or not. I'll look
into it, I guess after the show. Rtie. Thank you
for the voicemail. If you'd like to voicemail me voicemail
number two five one two one six, nineteen seventy six,
(48:43):
that is two five one two one six, nineteen seventy six,
to leave a message for The Uncle Henry Show on
whatever topic you want to leave the message on, as
long as it's not a pornographic topic. All right, out
of time for this edition of the Uncle Henry Show.
As they say in Sirland, have a good one, and
(49:05):
as they say in Theodore, take it easy. All right Later,
