It says the Uncle Henry Show here on news Radio
seventy ten WNTM. Yes, I'm still here. Yes, I'm still here.
I'm still employed, I'm still hosting a show, and I'm
also still able to move myself under my own power.
(01:52):
Not that I'm bragging once again. Here we are together,
me and you, trying to figure out what on earth
is going on in this world. If you would like
to call the show and talk about something, feel free
to do so. Two five one four seven nine two
(02:12):
seven two three. That is two five one four seven
nine two seven two three Email address Uncle Henry at
iHeartMedia dot com. I don't care what you call in about,
as long as it's not pornographic or nasty in nature.
I don't want to hear anything nasty or filthy. And also,
do not attack my family or there will be a
penalty of some sort of some kind, even if it's
(02:33):
just spiritual in your life. Now, there's so much, there's
just so much we can get to on the Uncle
Henry Show today going on in the world United States,
state level, local level, neighborhood level, spiritual level, galactic level,
interdimensional level. There's just all kinds of things going on. Today.
There was a mobile city council meeting. I do have
(02:54):
a little bit of coverage for you. I thought you'd
like to be annoyed by local government as it does
its job. Mobile city council meeting today, Now, it was
a very brief meeting. Think the Lord in heaven above
for the mercy of a brief mobile city council meeting.
(03:15):
Even though it was it was under an hour, still
it felt like several hours due to the fact that
some of the politicians, not all, but some of the
politicians just love the sound of their own voice. And
I don't know if it's right now. I'm at a
point where some of these politicians are talking so much.
(03:35):
I'm wondering if it is a manifestation of some type
of psychological inner anxiety about not getting re elected or
something that somebody would just talk so much. But there's
just a lot of it going on. In fact, after
Corey Penn spoke today, Mobile City Council MC Corey Penn
talked at length. After he talked, the council President CJ.
(03:59):
Small joked about hitting a buzzer to stop him.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Thank you, miss President.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Should have hit the buzz on you. Should have hit
the buzzer on you because he was talking so much. Now,
what of interest was discussed at the council meeting, Well,
they did pass something that is going to change downtown Mobile.
If you if you drive around in downtown Mobile h
(04:30):
They don't I guess the powers that are in charge
of Mobile, whoever they might be Illuminati, whoever it is,
they don't like people driving cars and trucks and stuff
in Downtown Mobile. They'd like it to be is just
as pedestrian as possible. So the council voted to h
(04:51):
to make it so that they're going to remove some
of the red lights, not on government or Dolphin or anything,
but they're going to be removing some red lights down
on Town. They're going to be removing some red lights
and replacing them with four way stops. Now here's William Carroll.
(05:13):
He spoke briefly, thank the Lord, briefly about this the
the they're going to be. They're gonna be removing some
red lights and replacing them with stop signs, and they're
gonna make some of the one way streets where you
can go both ways. Let's listen together to William Carroll. Wow,
thank you, miss President Mobile City Councilman William Carroll.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
We just passed the Street Optimization Plan.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
For the street optimization.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Downtown, which changes several streets from one way to two way.
There was some discussion this morning as to the avail
of the streets in the with and maybe a little
bit of traffic congestion that will be called us when
they were done that way.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
There was also some concern from businesses and residences as
to would they be able to park on the street
and do it comfortably with traffic coming both ways.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
We passed this to day with the intent.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
With the intent what's the intent of passing this.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Of making streets uh more comfortable, making them slower, making them.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Walk, making them slower one of the intents, he said,
making a street more comfortable. I don't know what that get.
Maybe maybe I need to start laying in a street
and see how comfortable and watching Alabama game laying in
the street. They want to make the streets more comfortable.
They want to make them slower.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Well and safe and also safe.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Uh, we have talked to that and safe.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
I have talked to the administration and asked the administration and.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Anyway, So because people you the you if you like,
if you're driving Downtown Mobile in a car that is
not they don't like that. They don't like that. If
you're in there, if you've got a truck, they don't
like that. They would like you to walk around down there.
And so they're now pulling there, removing traffic signals. They
will be removing traffic signals and putting in stop signs now.
(07:16):
I talked about this last night in the six o'clock
hour of this show. I would like to make a
prediction I'm making this is and I realized that I'm
that my position on this is unpopular. I know that
you wish that Downtown Mobile were a park and that
there were no cars down there, and you could just
walk and frolic on the streets with no traffic. But
(07:38):
they're they're going to be pulling out these these traffic signals,
these red lights, green lights, and putting in stop signs.
My prediction is that in about twelve years, twelve to
fifteen years, when we have different politicians down there, somebody
(07:59):
is going to come up with the bright idea that
things would be a lot better if we had some
traffic signals. Yes, that's gonna happen. They're gonna forget. People
have a short memory. There are a lot of people
that don't even a lot of people don't remember that
Sam Jones was mayor, and they don't even know who
Mike now is. In about twelve to fifteen years, some
(08:23):
politician down there is gonna say, you know what, the
one thing that we're missing down here is some red
lights and some green lad We're gonna get some traffic signals.
Get we're gonna progress into the future. That's my prediction.
Just as stop signs were replaced by red lights, now
(08:45):
they're gonna replace the red lights with stop signs. I
predict that it'll happen again in about twelve to fifteen years.
Back with more Uncle Henry's Show after the breakdown. Uncle
(09:13):
Henry Show News Radio seventy ten WNTM. It is five twenty.
News headlines are coming up in ten minutes. Here on
WNTM telephone number. If you've got something you want to
talk about, call me two five one four seven nine
two seven two three. That's two five one four seven
nine two seven two three. I'll have more coverage of
(09:36):
the annoying city council meeting for you. But first let
me go to a living caller. Hello caller, Hello caller.
I hope I didn't lose Hope the caller has not
fallen unconscious or something like this. This happens from time
to time. Callers will just are you their caller? All right,
(10:00):
Well something happened. God bless the caller. Prayers for the
caller that was there once. And I don't know. Sometimes
people are lulled to sleep by the magnificent beauty of
our commercials. They just sometimes they just it calms them
down to hear all of the voices of capitalism in
their head suggesting the best way to spend their cash.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
Hello caller, Hello Uncle Henry.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Hey, you are live on the radio.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
Well, I just want you to know the new Bryant
Bank being built across from spring Hill Hospital. Yes, the
crane in front of it, the crane in front of it,
it's flying a Tennessee ball flag.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
What roll tired row? All right? Is that true that
somebody is flying a tenant? Why would anybody? Now the
Tennessee flag, A Tennessee volun tier flag would make an
excellent distress flag, like if you need help because it's
such a it's such an un I mean, the color
(11:10):
is strikingly ugly. I mean, there's no way. It's like
if you're scanning the horizon, if you're walking the horizon
with your eyeballs, once your eyeballs, Uh, if you're walking
along with your eyeballs on the horizon and then you
your eyeballs step on that Tennessee flag, it's like stepping
in some form of visual dog mess. It just it's
(11:33):
an immediate shock to the system. Oh no, my eyeball
is stepped in visual dog mess. So there'd be a
good flag for if you're in distress needing help. You know,
I might need to buy one of them flags just
just to have in the car in case I, you know,
break down and then I could start waving the flag
and people would run over there and say, oh my gosh,
(11:55):
what's wrong. Why would anybody wave a Tennessee flag down here?
They must have lost mine? Two five one four seven
nine two seven two three. The telephone number he low color.
Speaker 7 (12:07):
Hey, uncle Henry is rt RT.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
You are live on the radio. RT.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
Hey.
Speaker 7 (12:13):
I'm sorry we got cut off earlier. But anyway, I
was calling to respond to that city council meeting on
the downtown traffic lights. Yeah, yes, I don't see the
logic in that at all.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Well, they want you to be able to walk safely.
They want to slow the traffic down, and this will
slow the traffic down, and they want they want slow
traffic so that you can buy a beverage and then
stroll around the streets of the City of Mobile without
worrying about getting hit by somebody driving at a normal speed.
Speaker 7 (12:48):
But Uncle Henry, if I want to cross the street,
I'm looking for a traffic signal, me too, wop the
traffic for me? Yes, I mean, how can you? How
can the pedestrian, especially if they've been drinking adult beverages,
(13:11):
acrossing the street at a full way ship when they
actually when there's a traffic light, there's usually a walk
and don't walk side exactly. I don't get the logic
of this. This makes no sense to me, Uncle Henry.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
They just don't like traffic down there. They do not
like they don't want you driving around down there. I remember,
do you remember uh when they were they're developing. They've
been developing the waterfront for our entire lifetimes. Do you
remember years ago a lot of the business people and
city leaders used to call Water Street the the uh
(13:49):
the Berlin Wall of downtown Mobile, the Iron Curtain of
downtown Mobile because people were afraid to walk across uh
water Street to the to the waterfront.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
Wow. No, I don't remember that. I've been around Mobile
since nineteen seventy fives. So wow, that's interesting.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
All right, Well, I agree with you. There's no look
they're going to change. This is something that somebody's gonna
undo in about fifteen twenty years.
Speaker 7 (14:20):
Well, this is just a waste of time for our
city council. We need to be preparing for other things.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Not that.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Yes, well maybe we can prepare for new city council home.
Speaker 7 (14:32):
H Yeah, good luck with that. I hope we just
get the right mayor, and that's what I'm praying for.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
All right, well, Artie, thank you so much.
Speaker 7 (14:44):
Whoever that is Sphiro or Connie Hudson either won I
don't see the others doing much good.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
All right, well, Rtie, continue to call in with your
thoughts on these things.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
Okay, thank you. I'll go ahead.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Road tide roll, roll tide roll, thank you. Aren'ties this
whole thing about downtown traffic getting rid of traffic signals
to put in four way stops just to slow the streets.
We need to slow things down just a little bit
so we can walk around from business to business. It'll
(15:26):
be great. It'll be even better for downtown mobile business
to slow the traffic down. What about uh I had
somebody watching on Facebook, Rick Henry on Facebook wanted to
know about horse and buggies, And that is a good question,
Rick Henry. Are there gonna be Are they gonna have
some things set up to where we can tie our
(15:47):
horses up down there they're gonna be. Is there gonna
be a horse lane? We really want to slow things down,
have a horse lane down there. We're gonna have bicycle lanes,
horse lanes, all that kind of uh it it has
been something to watch city leaders through the years argue
about traffic in downtown Mobile. I remember when they were building,
(16:11):
when they were putting the inter streight Interstate through there
on Water Street. The original plan was an elevated expressway
so that people would be able to walk. It would
be an elevated expressway from the Interstate from I ten
(16:32):
over to the one sixty five. But everybody fought against
it and said, no, we cannot have an elevated expressway
because then no traffic will have no traffic in downtown.
We must have the Interstate at street level on Water Street.
We must have the traffic on Water Street so we
(16:54):
can have traffic. And after they did this and have
the Interstate traffic dumped out onto Water Street, then everybody said,
oh no, we have traffic. First it was oh no,
we can't have that traffic. And now they got the traffic,
they don't want the traffic anymore. Then they worked for
(17:14):
years to try and slow down the traffic on Water Street.
And now they want to slow down all the traffic
in within the confines of downtown Mobile and remove the
red lights and put in stop signs. Eventually, somebody's gonna
beg them to build it. They're gonna build it. They're
(17:36):
gonna want an elevated expressway to kit that traffic off
Water Street. More Uncle Henry's Show after the break. Uncle
(18:09):

ninety five KSJ with me. This is News Radio seven
to ten WNTIM The Uncle Henry's Show. Telephone number two
five one four seven nine two seven two three. That's
two five one four seven nine two seven two three.
Speaker 5 (19:30):
Hello caller, Hey Obra Henry. Are you doing Snake Travor?
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Steak Trevor? You are live on the radio.
Speaker 5 (19:38):
Hey, Okahn. Our good friend Sivan there has sent me
some pictures of a large box turtle that has been
hanging around in his yard and he has said he's
been eyeballing it and uh today it started digging a hole.
So what it's doing it is actually laying eggs. And
(19:58):
I let him know that this time of year they
don't allow you to uh to bother them. Uh over Henry. Uh,
the conservation in Alabama makes it very hard for people
to harvest turtles because the time of the year that
they allow you to harvest them is when the turtles
are starting to hibernate and starting to vanish from sight. Uh.
(20:20):
Buford had me a beautiful large saucill turtle. But unfortunately,
if we were to harvested then we would have been
breaking the law. So we don't want to do that.
Sow about to site, Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Well, I was gonna ask it. So the turtle in
your friend's yard U that is getting ready to lay eggs? Now,
when will it? When would it be legal to eat
that turtle if you wanted to eat that turtle?
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Uh, well, the box turtle. They do not allow you
to even bother at all the box turtle.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Theos alright, so you're never gonna eat that. Okay, what
about the eggs of the box turtle? Are you going
to make another egg omelet?
Speaker 5 (21:03):
No, sir, you're not allowed to vode with the eggs
eggs to it either this time of year. Okay, but
I think I'm gonna wind up, Uncle Henry. I'm gonna
wind up probably having to actually buy some turtle, and
if I do, I will get that snapping turtle because
that is probably one of the best ones out there
that in the the alligator turtle, which I think that
(21:24):
one is totally off limits. But you can still purchase
a snapping turtle, but they do not allow you to
harvest it. This time of year, and it's terrible because
that's the time of the year when they're out.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Well, are there any turtles locally that you are you
can legally eat?
Speaker 5 (21:43):
Not right now, Henry, I mean none that you Now.
I don't know about the farming if if you was
to actually farm turtle, but I do know that gopher
turtle you're not allowed to touch it at a don't.
Matter of fact, if they find it on your property,
they will basically turn your property into a sanctuary. I mean,
you're you're not allowed to touch them at all. Okay,
(22:05):
And uh, and I know they're starting to restrict the
box turtle almost just as just as bad. And there's
a lot of box turtles out man. I've been seeing
you know, I've been seen several this month crossing the
road on wolf Ridge Road. Uh and Uh. Silva is
the one that wanted to do the turtle cook off
with him, So he was actually eyebattling that turtle. So
I let him know that that that's definitely all limits.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Well, it's good that it's good that he had you
as a resource to protect him from breaking the law
by harvesting as you said, that turtle.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
Yeah, I mean it's sad because I can understand if
if the animal is endangered or not a lot of them.
But Uncle Henry, I mean, we are overrun with box
turtles in this part of the country.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
Now.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
I don't know how they pan out, you know, elsewhere,
but Alabama has plenty of them. Uh, they have plenty
of the uh, the snapping turtle. But unfortunately you have
to wait till it starts getting told before they allow
you to augustee it. And by then they're all getting
in mud banks tibernating, so that they're kind of tying
your hands on what you can do. So I believe
they just want you to wind up buying your meat
(23:09):
if you're gonna consume it. So I almost I'm gonna look
into maybe buying some snapping tarl on here.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Well.
Speaker 5 (23:15):
Please think that'll be the best way to go.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Please keep me informed on all of this. This is
this is I know, I'm riveted by that. I know
the listener is very interested in that. Many of us
have always wondered what it would taste like, So please
keep us in formed.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
Oh, if you didn't know, Uncle Henry, you could think
at times parts of it is lamb parts of it
be uh parts of it chicken. Uh, you know it's
it's a it's a it's a meat that is a
really good deed. I mean my grandmother sold me on
it many years ago. Uh, like I said, but I
think still enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
All right, Well, I'm looking forward to it one day.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Yes, sir Henry, and you take care of my buddy.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Thank you, Sna, thank you very much for your phone call,
and thank you for increasing my turtle awareness. I just
I'm not as aware of turtles as I should be.
I know they're all around me. I've encountered them in
mid tim mobile a few times, but I'm not as
turtle aware. But Snake Trapper very turtle aware and noticing
(24:16):
them in his daily life. I'm gonna make a I'm
going to resolve to to be on the lookout in
my neighborhood to see if I notice any turtle activity.
Two five one four seven nine two seventy two three
The telephone number here on the Uncleander Show, that's two
five to one four seven nine two seven two three. Now,
a voicemail has just just been Well, this came in
(24:41):
right before the show started. Let's see what this voicemail is.
If I can play it on the program.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
Hey, Pat Nelly, Pat Nelly.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Or someone claiming to.
Speaker 8 (24:54):
Be Hope you having a great after name. Hey, listen,
Ms Ronda one tickets to a concert down there at
that wharf. It was my first time in attendance at
the wharf.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Oh and I got.
Speaker 8 (25:07):
To see thirty eight Special in Kansas, and I have
always wanted to see thirty eight Special and concert. Already
seen Kansas. They're okay, but I really was excited to
see thirty eight Special. That's a super nice venue they got.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Down there, Yes it is. I'll be down there Saturday
night for Thomas Redd.
Speaker 8 (25:28):
Anyways, how about them bunker buster bombs? Ain't they something else?
Speaker 7 (25:34):
Man?
Speaker 8 (25:34):
They're like they go win do a little thing down
there about three hundred feet and there's really no sign
except a little hole.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Anyway.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
Also like the way Trump Trump chasing them to countries,
treat them like redheaded step children, said, they better get
their act together, get in line, stop shooting at each other,
stop backing like a bunch of kids in the back
seat on your way to vacation. Anyways, hope you have
(26:11):
a great afternoon and roll tide.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Pat Nelly, thank you very much. For your phone call. Yes,
the Wharf is a great venue, and I'm really curious
about the state of concerts once the brand new arena
is built in Mobile, because you've heard the promises made
by the people building the new arena. So very curious
(26:36):
as to how the distribution of big concerts goes on
the Gulf Coast. Which venues are going to end up
with the big concerts. Can't wait to see a lot
of them down there over the last many years at
the Wharf. The thing about the Wharf is you've got
(26:57):
to be comfortable watching a concert outdoors in June, July, August, September.
A lot of people are, a lot of people do it,
a lot of people show up. A lot of these
shows are sellouts even when it's hot and humid down there.
Just I'm looking forward to what will happen and how
(27:19):
that will work out once we get the new arena
here in Mobile, Alabama. All Right, there is more to come. Yes,
additional Uncle Henry Show on the way after the break.
You can listen to previous shows as podcasts. Look for
them on the iHeartRadio app or at NewsRadio seven ten

coming up in ten minutes, and then more additional Uncle
Henry's show between six and six thirty. If you'd like
to call me, you can two five one four seven
nine two seven two three. That's two five one four
(28:35):
seven nine two seven two three. Now, if you'd rather
compose your thoughts and leave a voicemail message, the voicemail
number is two five one two one six, nineteen seventy six.
That is available twenty four to seven. Now, I will
not listen to it twenty four to seven, but it's
available two five one two one six, nineteen seventy six
(29:01):
to leave a voicemail message for the Uncle Henry Show. Now,
let's see well, today I mentioned the Mobile City council
meeting and I shared with you a little bit from
it at the beginning of the show. I want to
remind you these meetings are available for you on YouTube,
and you can watch the whole thing City of Mobile's
(29:22):
YouTube channel, and it can be more fun to watch
because you can look at the facial expressions the council
members that don't run their mouths a lot, they do
run their faces and you can watch their faces, and
it's fun to watch their faces when the other council
members won't stop talking. All right, let's see hello.
Speaker 9 (29:45):
Color hello, Hello, Hello, Hello.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Yes, you are live on the radio. Hey, hey, Henry,
what's on your mind?
Speaker 9 (30:03):
Well, this is no mo and uh you had failed
goobatorial candidate Bradley Bradley Burns on the other day. Yeah,
and uh, it was rather concerning that when he was
mentioning that when the state docks goes to full potential,
(30:25):
that you'd have over a million containers being delivered off
off of here mobile. Henry, that's gonna be a lot
of trucks on the road and you are over crowded this.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
That we've got now exactly, Yes.
Speaker 9 (30:42):
So get concerns me here. Did he ask mobiles that
did they want this? Because you know, mobiles are probably
gonna see very little. That money's gonna go straight to
the state.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Well, I know that, uh, mobilians probably want the jobs
that are going to be associated with it.
Speaker 9 (31:00):
But doesn't more jobs just bring more people, Henry? Actually,
because we're at three percent of employment now, you know,
it's just gonna bring more and more people here. Now,
I don't know the infrastructure of mobile was really designed
for that kind of kind of people.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Well, the infrastructure is not designed for what we got already.
Speaker 9 (31:18):
I agree, So I hope our planners would would take
that out of consideration before they go and want to
knock out the tunnels and such as that. I noticed
they wanted to build a bridge across the bay, right,
that was just for truck. Now I understand what that
was for.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
Yeah, Well, everything that they've talked about, a lot of
it will not be a big success until unless they
build this gigantic bridge they're talking about, because without that bridge,
the airport's not gonna do well. As you pointed out,
the traffic situation would be impossible if you don't have
that new bridge. A lot of it won't won't work
(31:57):
unless they get the bridge.
Speaker 9 (31:59):
All right, we already got Walmart's warehouse, We've got Amazon's warehouse,
and this raisee line is turning into a truck of
the industry, and we're gonna have a lot more trucks on.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
The road, Yes we are.
Speaker 9 (32:14):
But that's all I want to talk about, Henry. I
just wanted to bring it to the people to teach you.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Well, I'm glad you called. Hey, Thank you for listening, ma'am.
Speaker 7 (32:21):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
I appreciate it. I app I wish if you wonder
what kind of talk show I wish the Uncle Henry
Show could be. I wish I were talented enough to
have a show where we either talked about Alabama football
or infrastructure. Those are my two I would love to Yes,
those would be the two things I'd like to talk
about the most. And well, I'd add a third thing,
(32:44):
and that would be the the wonderful wild creatures that
share South Alabama with us that Snake Trapper calls in about,
like snakes, possums, raccoons, all of those things. Alabama football,
the small creatures that we share South Alabama with And infrastructure,
(33:06):
because I believe that having good infrastructure is a form
of economic development. That if you make your streets beautiful
and make your streets adequate, that that will attract I
know that sounds nuts to you, but that will attract
(33:27):
people to your town if you just have goods, if
you just have some decent infrastructure and mobile. Even though
they've been improving infrastructure during the Stempson years that we've
had before he came along, we went through years and
years where no improvements were made and beare just beare maintenance.
Speaker 5 (33:51):
Sir.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Thank you for your infrastructure call. I hope I get
showered with infrastructure calls for the rest of the year
on this show. There is more to come. The Uncle
Andrew Show continues after the news break.
