Speaker 1 (00:06):
This is News Radio seven to ten WNTM.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Uncle Henry here once again with Ron and Anna of
Mobile Bay Coins and Fine Jewelry. You'll find Mobile Bay
Coins and Find Jewelry at twenty two oh four Government
Street and Beautiful Midtown Mobile. They're also online at Mobile
baycoins dot com. If you want to look at great pictures,
you can go to the Mobile Bay Coins and Find
Jewelry Facebook page or Instagram account.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Ron, good to see you. How are you doing, sir?
And we've got.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Anna on the telephone, still doing some work at Mobile
Bay Coins and Fine Jewelry.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
How you doing, Anna, I'm doing great. Yeah, just working
little late. That's okay.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Well, it's that time of year where there are a
lot of people that are having to do that kind
of stuff. So I when I ask you both as
we head in to the end of the year, what
are the precious metals doing at the end of the year.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Actually, today they dropped the Fed interest rates that it
looked like a recession might be staved off, and of
course that the dollar got stronger and gold and silver
took a dip. So great time to add to your
hedge or investment whichever way you want to look at it,
and lots of people were coming in and doing that.
As soon as the FED rate was announced. I mean,
it didn't tank down, but it's silver dropped under thirty

(01:18):
dollars announced for the I mean it's been a long
time now since that's happened. Gold was still just over
twenty six hundred dollars, but lots of people came in.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Okay, So are you going to see more buyers you
think than sellers over the next weeks.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
I do it if it's if it I mean, of
course you can't say I'd want a lot of people
to buy. But if everybody rushes out and starts buying,
then of course premiums can go up because wholesalers will
start running out of product.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's just a domino effect.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
So we're I mean, it was a big uptick today,
So it just depends on what happens. A lot of times,
gold and silver will recover really quick because just because
the FED cut rates another quarter point doesn't mean that
we're not paying a trillion years in interest as far
as the US goes, and you might still need to
add to your heads anyway. So it's a good time
and usually the prices recover pretty quick from a dip

(02:05):
like this, So if you're listening, get in and make
your purchases.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Okay, Now, some people are listening to this radio show
before Christmas. Some people are going to hear it a
little bit after Christmas. So would you two mind telling
the listeners what your hours are going to be around
Christmas and New.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Year's Oh yeah, absolutely. Also, Ron forgot to mention that
we sold out of gold bars today for about an hour,
maybe half an hour, yep.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
I was trying not to have a flashback to that.
There was a really expensive shipment from FedEx that for
whatever reason over the weekend they stuck it in the
wrong place. But it was a misplaced for a while,
so I mean we'd have to wait another week, possibly
till after Christmas to get all this stuff and it
was a lot of a lot of merchandise, but it
did come in today show.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
So but back to the holiday hours. So we are
going to be open. We're basically open Monday Friday from
nine to five except for certain dates and you can
actually find that schedule on Facebook if you want to
check that out and that website. But it's we're going
to be open this Saturday from nine till two pm.
That's December twenty first, and we are going to be

(03:16):
open the Monday before Christmas and December twenty fourth, which
is Christmas Eve, from nine till two pm as well.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Okay, so you are going to be open Christmas Eve
from nine to two. What is it like at on
Christmas Eve at Mobile Bay Coins? Do you get the
last minute people rushing in?

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Oh? Yeah, absolutely. I have people that come in and
go to like I have this much money and now
I need something.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
It will stay open.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
They're just desperate and we'll.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Stay up in past two. If there's people there. We're
not gonna say okay, get out like anybody. We'll help
people out.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
So you're you're going to be closed on Christmas Day?
Are you going to be closed any of the days
after Christmas?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Yes, sir, we're going to be closed the following Thursday,
December twenty sixth and Friday, December twenty seventh. We are
going to be closed those days.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Okay. Are you going to be open the Saturday before
New Year's I'm shaking my head.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
No, Anna, I don't think so. Yeah, I don't think
we're playing through because it's a holiday weekends going on
with New Years and Christmas kind of being so close together,
it seems like this year.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Okay, what about Monday, the Monday before New Year's You're
going to be open that day, right, yes, ma'am.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Yeah, We're just going to be closed Wednesday and for
January first for New Year's Day, and then we'll resume
regular hours after that following that Thursday.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Hey, one more thing on hours. I know this is
not riveting for the people that want to hear us
talk about gold and silver and stuff, but I'm curious,
I've I've never heard you talk about New Year's Eve.
Do people buy gold and silver on New Year's Eve?

Speaker 3 (04:54):
As some people do because it is part of their
culture and things to give people four years gold and silver,
mostly gold. I would say a lot of cultures do gold.
And actually had a customer today that talked about how
that is something they do in their culture. He's going
to a wedding and he needed a gold gift for
a special couple because he said, if you get him

(05:16):
a traditional gift or just money, they're not really going
to remember, but they're gonna remember you giving them, like,
you know, some gold, that's for sure.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Yeah, and one grand bars, which are the popular one
for that because it's not a whole lot of gold,
but still you're talking over one hundred dollars for it.
And we almost sold out until that shipment came in
of those, and we have a lot of those in stock.
It was like we're starting to sweat, like, I hope
the package gets here. And what was it about three
thirty they rolled up.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Uh. Yeah, we were basically sold out a gold bar
for about I would say thirty minutes, five minutes or something.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
That hasn't happened a lot of time.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yeah, that it was close, but we knew that package
had to be delivered today.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah. All right, Well, let's let's talk about last minute
Christmas shopping. There's still time. What can you offer people.
What do you have that's fun Christmas stuff that people
can buy a bobile Bay coins and find jewelry.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Yes, sir, so we do have We're running really low
on the Christmas round, but we do have other Christmas
options available. We have the Snoopy Christmas and that's like
Charlie Brown and the Christmas Tree. There's Snoopy with the
dressed up of Santo, the Christmas Bell There is also
Mickey Mouse with mayor Christmas on it, and I think
actually one Christmas candy Cane make you left too, I think.

(06:35):
And we do have batter ranks, not very Christmas oriented,
but batter rings and Batman. There's Superman coins, there's Wonder Woman,
and we might have some jokers left and Monday, I'm
hoping it'll be here Monday. I should get some new stuff.
It's going to be Spider Man in Green Goblin for

(06:55):
twenty twenty four and for the longest time they didn't
have anything available for Spider Man, and I'm so glad
that this was released literally right at the end of
the year.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
All Right, people are gonna want Donald Trump silver rounds?
Do you have Donald Trump silver rounds people can buy
and give as gifts at Christmas time?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
He has been very popular recently. Yes, so, so we
do have the forty fifth presidency and we have the
forty seven presidency available at the shop.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Okay, great news.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Yeah, and the fight ones are being basically since second day,
so everybody's been sold out of them. So we'll have
the fight ones probably by Monday, and that's just right
before Christmas. But lots of people have been on the list,
and all those people will probably rushing in to get
them so they can get those next week while they last.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Hey, and I heard you talking about Spider Man and
Superman and Wonder Woman and Snoopy and all that kind
of stuff. What about all the Star Wars stuff? Do
you have any Star Wars stuff?

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Yeah, I have Groku the Baby Yoda coins. There's I
think there's some back data ones for twenty twenty three
and twenty twenty four this year. It's a different design,
but you could. I've had people buyd both because they
missed out last years, so those are back in the
case they're in stock. I got plenty of those. There's
also like the Mandalorian series coins. There's like different orders

(08:19):
of the Star Wars like the Jedi Order, the Rebellion Order.
All of those are available as well.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
And also we have just a few of the Millennium
falcon shaped silver one ounce, two ounce, and three ounce,
and there were twenty twenty threes and I have one
set of three left and the rest I'm keeping it
for me. So I have one of those left and
I keep those tucked away. So those are coming out.
And then the X week X Wing shape Fighter as
well as a Mandalorian head that's been colorized and that's

(08:47):
a three ounce and all those were made by the
New Emnt, the New Zealand Men, and they've been sold
out for years two years, okay, I mean they're hard
to find. Just look online for these products I'm talking about,
they're really expensive. So I'm not going to sell it
cheaper than that, but you can get them a lot
of times when you look online they say sold out,
even for the stuff that's been you know, this is
hard to find.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Hey, if you just tuned in, you're listening to Ron
and Anna of Mobile Bay Coins and find Jewelry located
at twenty two oh four Government Street in Midtown. Mobile
Mobile bay coins dot Com is their website. Now, what
about jewelry. I know you've got a huge jewelry inventory.
Are you are people buying a lot of jewelry for
Christmas right now?

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Anna, I would say so yes. I've sold several pieces.
I think Gale's helped out of quite a few people
today finding the right gifts for their loved ones. We've
jewelry has been selling and there's stuff that I've processed
today that I've cleaned and sorted into trades that I

(09:46):
don't even have time to really like take pictures off
a price as we are so busy. So if there's
something that you don't see in the case that you're
looking for and we may not have it listed online,
come by the shop. Ask to see the trades of
the state jewelry that I've set aside. There's quite a
few of them. I think there's been building up. There's
like over ten trays of jewelry to look through.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Wow, Now what talk about the price points do you
have if people are really on a budget, Can they
still get jewelry even if even if they've got budgetary constraints.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yes, they're absolutely And I've had quite a few people
comment recently again that you know that they if they
went somewhere else, they probably have dropped a whole lot
more money. Yeah, you know, but they ended up spending
less and getting a whole lot more for their buck
in a long way.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Now, do you have some statement jewelry because this is
the time of year, I know you probably there's not
a lot of time to do anything custom, but if
somebody wants to make a statement with a piece of jewelry,
you have that instant.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yeah. I mean I've had people come in and they
wanted to order. Basically we didn't have something in cycle.
We had to order it in. I have quite a
few orders that came in. Uh I can't talk too
much about it. There was an engagement ring that we
had done.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
It was.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Basically a carrot. I can't even mention the shay, but
it was a beautiful ring that was custom may put
together for a customer and they picked it up and
you know it's supposed to be top secret. And also
I did have another gentleman come in. I was looking
for something as specific and we were able to find

(11:27):
it with one of our supplies and were ordered in.
It should be here before Christmas.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Uh So if people really want to get jewelry, and
you the listener, if you're looking for a piece of
jewelry before Christmas, go to Mobile Bay Coins and find jewelry.
You owe it to yourself to go there first. Just
price it there. You're going to get so much more
for your money at Mobile Bay Coins and find jewelry.
That's been my experience. I bought a lot of jewelry
at Mobile Bay Coins and find jewelry myself. Now are

(11:56):
people amidst all of the holiday stuff. Our people still
coming in wanting to buy gold and silver as a hedge.
Are they still doing the basic bullion even at this
time of year.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Yeah, they are both in And I've been helping a
lot of people. I mean, lots of people are still
wanting to head you don't know, with the US government
with the deficit we have and trillion dollars a year,
trillion dollars a year in interest, that's a lot of money.
It is. You just can't recover from that overnight. So
they can't. It doesn't help the US dollar. Even though
the US dollar is still pretty strong when you look
at it compared to other world currencies, you still got

(12:28):
to protect yourself because you got to. If you're cash
heavy in retirement, you got to have some cash. For sure,
you don't want to invest it all on anything, but
you still want to protect that cash. If something happens
with the US dollar devaluing and your cash heavy retirement,
you're in trouble.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
It's like instant inflation on you. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
I don't want to take up too much of your
time in this show talking about this, but I want
to stress a point for the listener that may never
have bought gold and silver. There's no reason for you
to have to buy gold and silver from an hour
a town company. Bullion gold and silver. It's tax free
in Alabama, right, You're not paying a sales tax on

(13:06):
it in the state of Alabama. And I heard a
horror story this week of somebody that bought from an
online company run. A man pulled out his life savings,
bought a bunch of gold from an online company. I
found out from another one of your customers. They brought

(13:26):
it into you. The man passed away, and so his
family wanted to find out what dad's gold was worth,
and they found out that dad had been he had
been sold gold. It's something like ten times its value
or something. I know, you know what I'm talking about.
It was horrible. It was a horrible story of an
older man getting taken advantage of because he went online

(13:49):
and bought from this out of town company.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Yeah, and that's stuff. I mean people like we advised them.
If that kind of stuff happens to you, contact an attorney.
You never know a lot of times you can recover
some of that money. But keep in mind attorneys are expensive.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
So you got you got.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Awigh the the pluses, but we gave we gave more
advice on the deal when we did evaluate it, and
it was a very very sad thing to I mean,
you have a loved one something like that that had
a lot, you know, the enjoyment that got was worth something,
but it wasn't worth ten times the value of the
gold and silver and it was crazy.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
So once again, it was nice stuff.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
These these these UH companies did take advantage of people,
especially it's there's laws against taking advantage of the elderly,
and so once again the guy's passed away, so there's
limited things you can do. But anyway you can stole
a contact an attorney and find out where your where your.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Rights might be.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
But the products are quality. It wasn't selling junk. It
was all certified by pcgs.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
It was real.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
I mean we've had other people come in spent a
whole bunch of money and this stuff was fake.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
That's much much worse.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
But still the reason I wanted to mention this and
again don't want to spend too much time on it,
is you the listener. If you're thinking about a deal
like this UH, call Mobile Baykuns and find joy. Just
to ask them what they think about the price of
what you're getting for what you're paying. At least at
least get some feedback on it and don't be taken
advantage of. You can call Mobile Bay Coins and find

(15:11):
Jelry at two five one seven five fifteen ninety. That's
two five one seven two five fifteen ninety. Now are
you I know it's one of your busiest times of
the year, maybe your busiest time of the year. Are
you still doing free appraisals during all this busyness?

Speaker 4 (15:27):
We are, but as you can, uh, Anna, I'll probably
get ready to tell you as soon as I stopped talking.
She just finished one. It was a it was huge.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Oh that's why you're not here with us in person.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Anna's on the phone.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
Yep, so she's she said, she goes, I'll stay, you go,
and I'm like, I took off, so I'm here live.
And she finished up the appraisal.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
And you got to do that.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
You got to finish, finish what you start. But it
was it was huge. We'd rather un stuff like that,
you wait until after the holidays. But this is a
situation where the young lady needed to know right away.
She needed to get insured. She really didn't have.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
She inherited, she had many.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
Places to store it, so she didn't know what to
do and what it was worth. So we we helped
her out with that and got it done. But a
shoe box or less, come in anytime. But if you
have items a gold, silver, platinum played them and you
need to trade it, you can come in anytime obviously.
But if you just inherit a biggest state and it's
in a safe deposit box, leave it in there until
after the holidays, we'll be able to give you a
much more personal time with it. And if it's an emergency,

(16:21):
cost will work something out of even if it's after hours.
I mean, sometimes people just have to know. But in
most cases people are usually a week or two weeks
out anyway, So we definitely do them for you. Appraisals,
quality free appraisals. It's just during the holidays, it's every
every hand on you know, every hand on deck for
the retail stuff going on and trading the day to
day stuff. So give us a call to if I

(16:42):
won Seve ninety and if anybody wants to stay late.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Like Anna, she can stay late.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Now back her up, Okay, now, Anna, last minute stocking
stuffers for under twenty bucks. You can help people with this.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Oh yeah, absolutely. The all backs have been really popular.
There's quite a few gentlemen that come in and get
those stocking stuffers for their grandkids. There's you know, copper rounds,
there's other pieces of gold that you can get based
on a little fractional pieces of gold. There's stocking stuffers.
There's jewelry that is a great stocking stuffer. Quite a
few gentlemen that bought their granddaughters their wine, just girlfriends,

(17:22):
you know, significant others, stocking stuffers and it's you know,
stling silver jewelry. It's not going to break a leg
or you know, costure an arm in the la I
guess I should say.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yeah, we had a one gentleman was buying each grand
kid a five dollars gold piece from the early nineteen
hundred oh my infused Indian design sad.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
I forgot to say that he has like ten grandchildren.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Oh my, that's a nice Christmas pres Yes, yes, it is.
That it's a different kind of stock.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
A lot of people buying gold for the grandkids and
kids this year. So it's fun to see, fun to
watch and It's a good way to get the youngsters
started on understanding what money and what things are worth.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
I've told you the story before.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
I had a friend that bought their child a silver
round for Mobile Bay Coins, and then for the next
several months, the kid was obsessed following the value of
silver every day. They learned a lot just from owning
a piece of silver.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Yeah. Great way to get the youngsters into it.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
And speak speaking of kids, I don't hate to interrupt
you guys, but a lot of people have noticed how
I've This year, I've put out some coin Christmas Snowman
that has been a hit at the shop. It's basically
coins dressed up as a snowman. A lot of people
thought it was cute, and you know it doesn't cause
it's under one hundred bucks. Basically great stocky stuffer and

(18:42):
everyone was so thrilled with it. Basin their grand schild
are going to love it.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Hey, gotta ask open Air knives. I've been in Mobile
Bay Coins and find jewelry during Christmas. I see there
was some day I saw almost everybody that came in
walk out with one in addition to what else they
were getting. How is the selection of Open Air knives.
As we get close to.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Christmas, there's still quite a few lefts, but there they
are on fail right now. We're doing a special and
I've had quite a few people walk out with several
of them in handbags full, i should say. But I'm
looking at them right now and there's quite a bit
still left. So come on in and get some.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Yeah, that is something I'm sorry, I was just going
to tell the listener. That's something that I have bought
repeatedly as a gift for other people. You've got one
open air that does not have a wooden handle. It
has like a polymer handle, and it's just it's whistle, Yeah,
with a whistle. It's designed for outdoor use. Uh, and
I've given that so many people.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Be careful blowing that whistle. Make sure you got the
right end. Yeah, exactly, exactly.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Yes, the figure that out.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Well, it's a fun IQ test. Fun IQ test, all right,
real quick, before we run out of time. People are
gonna I'm sure after Christmas people are going to to
need cash to pay some Christmas bills. What are some
things that you will buy from the public so they
can get that.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Cash, Yes, sir, so we do buy you know, bullying gold.
Silver coins pay for money jewelry, doesn't. You know, if
it's better nice or stuff, will pay higher on it
and designer. But if it's truly just scrap or miscellaneous
pieces where you've lost in earing or something, you bring
it in because it could be like, you know, thirty

(20:28):
bucks to seventy bucks for just one earing. Depends on
the weight of the piece and the carrot. But you
know that's you know, thirty to seventy bucks that you
didn't have before that was just laying around and you
weren't doing anything with it because you can't really wear
it or you.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Know, Yeah, there was a gentleman today needing to drill
a hole in a coin and I'm like, well, I'll
save the shavings for you.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
He goes, oh, then it can't be worth anything.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
It would end up being worth about twenty to twenty
five dollars. Really, it doesn't take much to add up.
So I mean, you're cutting a decent sized hole in
the coin too, but you know it's going to make
it into a pen. There's gonna be a diamond in there.
It's like you're gonna lose quite a bit of gold.
So we'll just buy that off of him. But I mean,
people don't realize how little bit of gold it takes.
We're still talking twenty bucks isn't a lot of money,
but I'll take it any day of.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
The week, right, absolutely, are we?

Speaker 3 (21:12):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (21:15):
And if you're bringing in something that you want to sell,
you might want to trade it for a piece of
jeweler at the shop. We can do that, very good art.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
We're out of time.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Mobile bay Coins can fine jewelry twenty two oh fork
Government straight at Midtown Mobile Mobile Baycoins dot com. Ronannana,
thank you for doing the show.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
You're welcome. Thanks Anna, You're welcome.
