Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fasco.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
This is News Radio seven to ten WNTM. Uncle Henry
here once again with Ron of Mobile bay Coins and
find jewelry, Mobile bay Coins and find Jewelry located at
twenty two o four Government Street at Midtown Mobile. You
can find Mobile bay Coins and find jewelry online at
Mobile bacoins dot com. And they're also on Facebook and Instagram.
(00:30):
Lots of great pictures there. And Ron, Ana, you've got
Anna on the phone with us, did you.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yes, you couldn't make it here in the studio live,
so we have her on the phone, which is just
as good as having her hero that then we can't,
you know, see her face to face.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Now, Anna, did ron send you on a mission or
you out doing something for the shop?
Speaker 1 (00:49):
No, not to stop. I'm gotta go have dinner with
my grandma today.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
Oh hey, that's very good, very important.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
So now I've got you both here. Now we're gonna
talk about Mobile bay coins and fine jewelry of course,
and different things you have going on. By the way,
this show. We're doing this show before Valentine's Day, but
you the listener, you may be hearing it a week
after Valentine's Day. Whatever, So just keep that in mind
this show being done live before Valentine's Day. But I
(01:20):
want to ask you both a few things. First, I
want to know about what's going on with gold, Ron
and Anna. I saw somebody on the x app talking
about what they described as a massive move happening in
the gold market. This person writes that there are huge
physical deliveries of gold, with shortages in London and gold
(01:44):
flowing into the US at record levels. This person says,
someone with deep pockets is scooping up gold and they
don't know if it's private investors or the US Treasury
or the FED. And a lot of people are now
coming up with theories as to why all of this
physical gold is flowing into the US. Now, is this
(02:05):
something that you have noticed? Have you been able to
notice this in your industry?
Speaker 3 (02:09):
No, I personally haven't. Then once again we talked about
I've had heard that a lot of gold was coming in,
but I mean it's been popular. You just probably call
any coin shop in the country and ask what they
sell the most of right now, and gold is probably
the answer. So the demand is there now. Silver is
still high, but nowhere near as high as gold. People,
it's one of those things people here. Okay, the dollar
(02:30):
we got thirty four trillion dollars in debt. I mean,
how long can you support that? Don't have all your
eggs and one baskets. So a lot of people move
to gold because you can store a lot of wealth
in a small amount of space. If you get in
a lot of the other precious metals like silver, it's
still a cool metal, but you can store a lot more.
In fact, if you can what you can hold in
one hand with gold, you couldn't actually pick up with
(02:51):
silver for the same money spent on both items. So
it's a lot harder to store. But not saying if
you're investing in gold you shouldn't get some silver too.
But because of the artages, the premiums haven't been affected,
so premiums.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Are still really affordable right now.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
I think because of the quantity of gold that's out
there has driven premiums down. So that's good for the
stacker slash investor out there.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
But you have heard the same thing that gold was
flowing into our country. Yes, physical gold and China.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
There's other countries that's flowing into too. It's not just
the US, but there is we're importing more than we're exporting,
as far as not stuff in the ore form, stuff
that's already been manufactured by either in bar farm or
in coin form.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
We'll talk a little bit more about what gold is
doing right now price wise. You just said that it is,
of course doing better than silver.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Yes, sir, it's trading right over twenty nine hundred dollars.
A lot of the news or things you're like the
same thing talking about the amount of gold coming in
the US. The forecast is gold to break three thousand
in February. And if you had to ask Anna or
II that a few months ago, we just said probably not,
but there's an outside chance. Now there's a really good
chance it could break three thousand dollars. And you don't
(03:57):
want people to run in and spend all their money
on gold, though, Henry. You want people to be smart
about it, just like people playing the lottery or buying stocks,
And of course stocks and gold are much more secure
than the lottery. But still it's got to be income
that you spread out and you understand what you're doing
with it, because all all investments and everything in life
has a risk, So you want to know what those
risks are and manage those risks.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Okay, don't put your all of your eggs into one basket,
so to speak.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah, before we continue on the topic of gold and
silver and other things that mobile bay coins and find jewelry,
there was the executive order from President Trump to stop
making pennies. Now, I just wanted to know what you
thought about that. I remember talking about this topic with
Angelo years ago and you years ago about why certain
(04:46):
coins are still minted even though it doesn't seem to
make a lot of sense. Do you think that this
will actually happen.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
It should happen.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
I don't think he can truly do it by executive order,
but he can get the ball rolling with the executive art,
but Congress mandates that. So basically the problem over the
years is we don't need the dollar bill and we
don't need the penny. Canada doesn't have anymore, Europe doesn't.
A few of the European unions have one euro coins,
but many of them don't. They go to two euro
and they don't have pennies and nickels.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
So the US is a lagging behind.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
It's really because the US has lobbyists and lobbyist for
the company and the state where they make the blanks
for the pennies, actually don't make blanks. They make big
sheets on a roll that the cut blanks out of.
But that being said, they got to take the zinc
and they got to quote it up to specifications. In
that same company has providing been providing the US Mint
with these plantchets forever. So except for the early large
(05:40):
sense that came from England and buckets, that's been this company.
So every time they talk about taking the penny away,
they're talking about having to lay people off and companies
going away. Well, now that you've got Doze and Trump
and everything else, that really shouldn't matter. You got to
have more efficiency and you can save a lot of
money by getting rid of the penny and the nickel
because both of them cost more than face value to manufacture.
So there's no seniority in there with the US Mint's
(06:01):
not making any money off of those.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
So the boat, we've had the penny in the nickel
both of our lifetimes. Do you think that there could
ever be enough momentum to stop making those items.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
I think there could, and I really would like it
to happen. Although I'm a collector, I don't collect modern things,
So losing the penny and the nickel wouldn't upset me
at all. In fact, it would kind of excite me
with both of them, because if they did that, they
would allow people to melt them, sell them to smelters
and recover the copper, and it'd be a profitable thing.
The problem right now is so many people are saving
(06:32):
pennies the government. It feels like a shortage because business
has got to give them out and change, and.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Then people save them and don't spend them.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Not all of them, but a lot of them are
throw them on the ground for goodness sakes. But that's
causing the government to mandate no melting of those. Well,
if they get rid of the manufacturer of that by
the US Mint, you pretty much be able to do
whatever you want with it.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
So I really think they should. I don't. I can't
guaranto it.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
I've heard this so many times in my life that
they were going to do this ever since there's been years,
it's been a long time that a penny and a
nickel have costs more than face value to manufacturer. But
I hope so I get about a sixty percent chance.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Okay, Anna of Mobile Bay Coins are people what's more
popular right now at Mobile Bay coins and fine jewelry,
gold or silver.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I would say it's about bows. I mean gold has
increased a bit more. I feel like we are selling
a little bit more gold and silver, but I wouldn't
say it's like a huge gap. Maybe it's not for
some more gold right now, but you know, it does
not hurt you to get into silver, especially since like
Ron was saying, how gold is doing so much better
right now is as far as prices go, it's higher
(07:37):
than silver should be. So a lot of people are
saying that silver prices are going to go up. So
I would love to invest into silver as much as
I can because I do feel like maybe it will
make a huge job. Maybe not this year, but definitely soon.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Okay, as I mentioned a few minutes ago this program,
we're doing this live before Valentine's Day, but this show
will air after Valentine's Day, maybe more than once. Let's
talk about what you've got available for people for Valentine's Day.
A lot of people are going to be I'm sure,
(08:13):
coming in at the last minute wanting to hit a
home run with a Valentine's Day gift. What can you
offer people over the next several days for Valentine's Day
at Mobile Bay, Coins and Fine Jewelry.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yes, sir, so I've noticed that hearts have made a comeback.
You know, the last few years, people don't want to
buy hearts Valentine's Day, but this year a whole lot
more people are coming in looking for heart link bracelets,
ear rings or necklaces, even rings with hearts in them.
So we do have hard jewelry available. There's diamond studs,
there's dangle diamond ear rings available, there's rings, and you know,
(08:52):
there's also this really nice diamond that we got in.
It's a three carre round cut diamond in a platinum setting.
The pictures are up on Facebook if anyone is to
sneak a peek.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Okay, uh what yeah, keep going, keep telling me about
Valentine's Day special.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Yeah. So there's also this, really this is my personal favorite.
This is like an Anni type ordeal. There's a vintage,
it's like a try almost like a Tricolor gold piece.
It's a rose flowers.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
The ladies it.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Were gentlemen listening in. If there's a lady that you
have that loves roses or flowers, this would make a
really nice set. It's a set of ear rings, ear
ring and a necklace with I believe it's like a rose,
but it's floral, but it's all gold tank care of
yellow gold. Most of it is yellow, but it's almost
like a tricolor. There's some accents of different colored gold,
(09:47):
like rose and white.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Okay, any other Valentine's Day specials you want to tell
us about. I know the last time you hear you
you were here, you talked about how you you have
some roses that are setting gold.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Yes, there are actual real roses that they took and
dipped into gold and lacker and preserved them. So this
is what I call the forever rows. So I've had
people that are building a whole bouquet just out of
those forever roses. They're buying one every year for every
occasion that they can to eventually have, you know, maybe
twenty four to one hundred of those in different colors,
(10:24):
because they do come in a variety of different shades
and colors, and there's even some for Mardi Gras. You know,
they get crazy with those.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Okay, Now you mentioned the mobile mobile bake coins and
fine Jewelry Facebook page. I went there while we were
having the conversation here just a moment ago, and I
see something you've got described as gold coin jewelry. Do
you have any of that available for Valentine's Day? Oh?
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Yeah, absolutely, we have necklaces, rings. I don't think we
have any with coins anymore, but we definitely have coin jewelry.
And there's US some foreign, but mostly US older coins
that are pre nineteen thirty three. So these are like
vintage coins. I guess you would call them if you've
never if you don't really know much about coins, I
(11:16):
would consider that a vintage coin jewelry. We also have
speaking a vantage, we have a stage jewelry pieces that
have really unique gemstones, really just one of a kind piece.
Some of them might have even been an air illuminate
family at some point that somebody I'd ended up selling
on an estate sale.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Okay, So, and you the listener, if you've heard an
or described these items that are Valentine's Day specials, if
nothing really excited you there, they still have thousands and
thousands of different pieces of jewelry available at Mobile Bay
Coins and Fine Jewelry, and your prices run. These are
(11:55):
incredible prices for high quality jewelry.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
It is in a couple of these estates, people collected
unique items in one of the kind items, So I
mean stuff you're not going to just find it a
big box store. Really cool stuff. And if somebody wants
something you could find it a big box store, we
could provide you with that too, usually a lot less
the cost, but it's the chance to get something, like
Anna said, that could turn into an airloom for your
family or was an.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Heirloom, and at a price that is I've always found
your price is to be significantly lower than the big
box jewelry outlets because of your business model. You're just
you don't have the same overhead. You're able to offer
high quality stuff at a fraction of the cost to
some of these big companies.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Yeah, we've had a lot of gentlemen in lately with
Valentine's Day coming up that have been buying the pieces
we're speaking of that You sold one at the end
of the day.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Didn't Youana, Was that a bracelet, sir? It was really cool.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
That was a really nice bracelet, and that was something
that was not even in the case. So a lot
of the time when you're come in and you're looking
into the case, you don't see something you like, go
ahead and ask us what you're looking for. Because we
have items with thousands of items that are not in
the case, we can only fit about ten percent of
the inventory, so a lot of it is in the
(13:07):
back and the safe and trays. And there's also new
items that come in every week that we haven't even
processed yet that you can get a really good deal
on because we haven't really invested much time into you know,
shooting them or anything like that, or putting the inventoring
them and all of that.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Now, I mentioned that this show will air also after
Valentine's Day, but we're gonna have weeks leading up to
Marti Gras and people just having fun with Marti Gras.
Do you have Marti Gras items at Mobile Bake Ones
and Fine Jewelry, Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Absolutely, this is Mobile Alabama, So we do have. We
have tokens Mary gra tokens. Some people collect those. Even
to this day. I have several grumen that come in
and they just get these little Marty Graus tokens. They're
not made out of silver, but they just like collecting
them for the variety of their organizations. But there are
silver Mary gra tokens availab from time the time at
the shop, and Ron might have a stash somewhere in there.
(14:04):
We also have one ounce rounds with crown designs on
them that you could actually put this into a bezzel.
And they also stack on top of each other, so
if you get more than one or two or three,
you could literally make a nice fitted stack of those.
They don't come apart really easily once you stack them
up because they have the little slits in them that
(14:24):
keep them all together and secure. And as far as
Marty Graus, when I think of Marty Graul, also picture
flur to Lee designs. Absolutely, so we definitely have fur
to leave.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Sorry that was my dog.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
We definitely have slur to lys all right.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
The dog loves slur to Lee obviously. Now what about
making a statement at a Marti Gras ball with jewelry?
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Absolutely, we have one of a kind, really big pieces
available that are just I would just call up two
to body. I would call.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Them perfectly gaudy.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Yeah, well that's what people want at a Mardi Gras ball.
It's just the rules are a little bit different there.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Pieces, yes, but I would call them more like a
statement piece. It's something that's you know, and they're affordable.
That's the main thing. It looks like a million bucks,
but it's very affordable. Some people call it chunky jewelry
because these pieces are just I don't know what the
right terment for them is. It is they're just really
nice quality looking jewelry that looks like it would cost
(15:35):
you an arm and a leg because they look like
they're made out of gold and some of them are
actually storming silver that has been goal plated. So that's
why I said. They're very affordable. But you can wear
them to a ball.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
And not worry about really losing them. You ain't gonna
break the bank.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah, if you have a few too many, Okay, well
let's let's hope that.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Yeah, well let's hope that folks behave responsibly with their
budget friendly statement pieces from Mobile Bay Coins and find
Jewelry now, some listeners, by the way, you're listening to
Mobile Bay Coins and find Jewelry here on these radio
seventy to ten. Some listeners may not be into Valentine's Day,
they may not be into Marti Gras at all, but
they're just into they're into precious metals. They're into the collectibles.
(16:19):
Do you have any new items anything fun and new
at Mobile Bay coins and find jewelry in terms of
just silver rounds things like that.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Absolutely, So we do have some stuff comes in from timetime,
like there's a new coin that we're just posted on
Facebook today. The David Bowie coin that came in that
was one of the collectors is a backdated one I
think from twenty twenty one.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Yes, as part.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Of it's part of the UK's Great Britain's Legendary Yes
Music Legends series that they they're doing them. I think
they're keeping up with those up today to get those
in from time to time. And right now some of
the new stuff that we just got in was the
new Batman coins and those are comic book Batman, I
(17:11):
would say the design on a non movie okay, And
the new Panda coins. A lot of people collect the
panda coins. Some of them are kids, some adults. But
this year they put three pandas on the Chinese panda
coin and it's one ounce almost the one ounce of silver.
This is an odd one. You know, most of the
countries out there that make a coin that a silver
(17:32):
coin for their I guess to display their nationality like
we do with the silver eagle or the Canadian maple leaf.
For example, this particular coin from China is only thirty grams.
For Ron told me recently that for the longest time
they were making them out of one ounce, but now
they're switching to thirty grams.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Even yes twenty fifteen, they said, hey, we can save
one point one grams by shaving this off and around
at to thirty and everybody's still going to buy them.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
And they were right.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
So that's the money going in their pockets. States can
never seem to pull those deals off, you know. It's
like getting rid of the penny we tore to ourselves.
But yeah, they were like, hey, we can make some money,
and they did it, so I was okay with it.
I mean whatever, I like pannas. They're cute, so and
they could. They knew it. It's like a kid that
knows he's cute. They can get away with stuff.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
All right. Well, I hey, we've got a couple of
minutes left in this show. Do you have any hot
deals going on right now? Any great deals for the
person that loves precious metals?
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Yes, we do.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
We have yeah, we're like one tenth eagles, all sorts
of stuff, right Anna, yes.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Sir, and I sold a couple of those today, So
and they're a great deal a lot of people. This
is a fractional piece, is one tenth of announces gold.
It's about three point eleven grams of gold. Just to
let everybody out there listen, it's pure gold, so twenty
four carrot And it's normally you would pay a whole
lot more premium for these items because when you get
(18:54):
into fractional pieces, you're paying a much more premium versus yeah,
them buying just one ounce of gold. And a lot
of people are jumping on those because they're getting I
wouldn't say hard to get, but you're getting a great
deal because.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
They're selling them just like yeah, yeah they can buy
just like they're paying buying an ounce, go ahead exactly.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Yeah, So somebody could buy ten of them, and it's
basically they're paying exactly the same price as they would
for a normal one ounce gold egal versus you know,
paying a hard premium for buying ten of them from
somebody else. So right now, we were overbooked. We're trying
to move them out the door.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Okay, uh, anything else.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Yes, we got one hundred ounce silver bars, ten ounce bars,
five bouns bars. So a lot of people have been
looking for the five bounce bars and during Christmas we
sold out, so they're back in stock and Rod's doing
a special on a lot of that silver stuff out there.
I don't know who the exact prices is, but yeah,
doing a special.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Premiums are about cutting half on those until they're gone,
just because people are buying a lot of people are
selling a lot. So when I get more than we
army store an inventory, like on hundred dollars bars, we
just run a premium sale.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
That's to me.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
It's really good out there right now for our investors, hedgers,
things like that, because premiums are not going to see
an all time low, but they're back down to almost
where they were pre pandemic. And it took since twenty
twenty since COVID for the premiums to drop below where
they were then when they shot up. So great time
to buy right now. Okay, hey we are we are
out of time.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
What about eagles.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Over eagles as well? Those are on sale?
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Oh yeah, silver eagles, Yeah, rolls of.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Them, rolls of silver Eagles on sale. All right, well
we are out of time. Ron and Anna, thank you
so much for talking with me here on WNTM. Thank you,
Uncle Harry, thanks, thank you, thank you. And again it's
