Speaker 1 (00:06):
It's his news radio seven to ten WNTM. Uncle Henry
here once again with Ron and Anna of Mobile bay
Coins and Fine Jewelry. Mobile bay Coins and Fine Jewelry
located at twenty two oh four Government Straight at Midtown Mobile.
You can also find them on Facebook, on Instagram and
their website Mobile Baycoins dot com. So Ron and Anna

(00:30):
once again. We've had several weeks of economic news that's
been up and down and all around. How's that affected
precious metals, Well.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
It was up today. It's starting to kind of calm
down towards the end of the day, but things could
change tomorrow when the markets open up again.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Well that's every day.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yeah, over thirty four hundred dollars yeas, and yesterday it
was thirty two, so jumped up over one hundred bucks overnight,
so it did really well. I was actually surprised because
I got done with the closing the month and went
up front right for lunch. Letana do lunch, and I
looked at somebody came in to buy ann ounce of gold.
I looked. I had to do a double take.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
I'm like, wow, yeah, it's a it's a great time
to get extra cash. As I've advertised before. If you
have any broken jewelry and you kind of scrap silver gold,
it all adds up. People are always surprised when they
bring in like broken pieces of chain or earrings or
old class rings they don't wear anymore. They's surprised how

(01:24):
much money you can get for that. And with summer
coming up, that's all extra cash you could go turn
into like a water park, you know, for the kids
or something, or summer camp.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
After turn and ring into a water park, that's pretty
much back.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, Okay, I've got a lot to cover with you
here for Mobile Bayquinch and fine Jewelry. I want to
start with the fact that you're you're just the basics
of You're at twenty two oh four Government Street. You're
open Monday through Friday from nine to five. But you're
open is it one Saturday a month.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
The first Saturday of each month. And this last which
was last Saturday, was the first Saturday and in May
and it was great. We were busy and it was
out face painting as you guys were just discussing before
we went on the air, and who was that with it?
You did give me a little plug.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I was with Saint Mary's by the Sea Church. It's
my church that I go to.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Oh you go now that you go to Saint Mary's
that does the blessing of the fleet.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, they were there. They'd sell plants and handcrafted goods
and things like to raise money for the church. And
I was face painting kids. Yes, okay, to raise money.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
All right. So but so you weren't there at at
the saturday that mobile Baykins and Fine Jewelry was open
for the month of May. But you were able to handle.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
It, Yes we did. Eric was there and so was Gail,
and but between the three of us we handled it.
It was busy. We were at the end of the day.
It was like a normal weekday. It was like wow.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
From that I checked up on you guys. I checked
the cameras, and they had somebody in the store all
the whole time. Like at a certain point, I couldn't
check anymore because I got busy, But I did see
and there was a lot of people just constantly, I would.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Say, in waves until we closed the two and then
boom the rains came.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I mean it rained hard.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
I'm not sure where you guys were, but here it
was you didn't need a go get a shower between
fifteen feet to the car. You were soaking wet, so
it rained pretty hard.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
So you the listener if you need to go on
a Saturday, and just remember that first Saturday of the
month is when Mobile Bay Coins and find your is
going to be open for you. And I also want
to mention real quick before we get into other topics
last time where you were here, I went to your
newly refurbished website and I signed up for your email

(03:33):
OHO and I haven't gotten a lot, but several times
great deals. When you have great deals, you send those out.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, special deals, hot items, new items, collectible coins, jewelry
that we get in that's you know, something unique like
a vintage piece or nice diamonds. Anything that I normally
post on Facebook, I send it out in the newsletter
as well. So if you don't do Facebook, that's a
great alternative because a lot of us do check emails nowadays.

(04:03):
I can't text everybody, you know. Only certain people that
I know are looking for certain things. I can give
them a shout out through text or something, or call personally.
But it's a great way for me to get everybody
together and send out an email let everybody know what's
going on.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
So go to go to Mobile Baycoins dot com and
sign up for that email if you want to get
those deals sent directly to your email inbox. Now we've
got we've got Mother's Day, and we've also got a
graduation season. So Mobile Bay Coins and Fine Jewelry for
me has been my one stop shop for gift buying.

(04:38):
Can you talk about some gift ideas for moms or grads?

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Well, for grads, I had a personal experience with that
because my sister was graduating this year from college, so
I actually got her one of the ingredible silver bars.
Mom was thrilled with it because I put her name,
the school, and the dates that she was in from
twenty twenty one to this year. So it's a great
gift that's gonna last forever. And it's silver. It's one

(05:05):
ounce of fine silver. And if you wanted to get
a card, you could, but that is a one package deal.
It's kind of like a card, precious metals gift all
into one.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Okay, So that is for grant and you've got other engravables.
People can get any all kinds of things. Great for grads,
you've also got open all knives we do exactly.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
And jewelry. We have paper money. If they're collecting paper
money or coins, we have those available. And also for
Mother's Day, we have ingravables that are mother themed. There's
like mother like no other. There's like a mother's bar.
There's a special bar just for the daughter to the
mom that you can have anything put on the back.

(05:46):
A lot of these pieces are blank on the back,
so it's just like a round and then a bar
shaped reight tangle, you know shape. Then different designs are
available and that's a great Mother's Day gift. There's also
a real rose. We have a few of them left over,
but it's a real rose that they've dipped in lacquer
and then gold twenty four care of Gold, so it's

(06:07):
a rose forever, ye gift to your mom.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
You've had those for years off and on at Mobile
Bay coins.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
They still owed pretty quick, but I have just a
handful left. If you were trying to get in on
that every year.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
You can't just buy them year round that the company
doesn't doesn't batch and when they're gone, they're going till
they do the next batch.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Okay, they're popular.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
And for those moms that are Bama fans, Lshoe fans,
Auburn fans. We have Ladies watches that are collegiate and
have the logos on there. You could get in on
that and they're inexpensive. Nice watches. Nice watches.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Do you do you still have the charm bracelets?

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I might have some left, but they've discontinued a lot
of those, and they were really nice when we had them.
There might be like a couple left, so you'd have
to check our online store or just call the store
or messages on Facebook and I can check for it.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
They were popular. Why discontinue an item that was really popular?
We always had a hard time ordering and maybe their
supplier ahead of a problem, who knows. But yeah, though
still have the watches.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Maybe the licensing.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah, we're always on the lookoff for those. So those items,
so if you haven't for sale, will give us a
chance they make an offer.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
What about Mother's Day on a budget? Do you have
any deals for Mother's Day?

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Oh? Yeah, jewelry always has deals.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Good, that's what we want exactly.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
On bullying stuff, it comes and goes, but on jewelry
there's always something going on. So right now, we're doing
all sterling silver jewelry is buy too and get one free,
and that you know, you could get something for your mom,
your sister, your brother, cousin, and yourself. Don't forget yourself.
So there's you know, you pick out two items and

(07:50):
get one for yourself.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Okay. On the topic of jewelry, I just have to
mention that I am wearing while doing this program. This
was the first show that I've done with Mobile Bay
Coins and Find Jewelry that I've been wearing a wedding band.
And the wedding band was ordered, designed and purchased through
Mobile Bay Coins and Find Jewelry by my new wife.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Congratulations by congratulations, and it is engraved on there.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Yes it is. And Anna walked my wife through what
she wanted engraved in my ring and it has our
initials and the date of our our matrimony. A beautiful job.
It didn't take very long at all. This was all
ordered through you with your help, and it's been a
big part of our life and we really really appreciate that.

(08:40):
Now I understand. I didn't realize things were still going on.
So my wife is still she's telling me that she's
on the phone with Anna all the time ordering jewelry.
What is my wife ordering?

Speaker 2 (08:51):
That's top secret?

Speaker 1 (08:52):
I okay, but she's ordering stuff with you. And this
is something that anybody can do. If they go through
your thousands of peace of jewelry and there's not quite
what they want you, you can find them things.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Oh yeah, yeah, we have catalyogs they can look through
and they can order in anything that you need. And
it doesn't take that long. People think, oh, I have
to order, I have to wait two weeks, because most
people will do two weeks because it takes about two
weeks to get something in from like jewelry stores up
there and don't have it in stock. But it normally
most things come in three to five days.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
If it's something that has to be special ordered and
things like that, it may take a little bit longer,
about seven days.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Okay. Now, and speaking of deals for jewelry, Mother's Day
or anything else, any sterling silver deals.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Yeah, the all of the stony silver jewelry is on
sale is the buy to.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Get one, Oh, buy two, get one.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Yes, buy two and get one. So you can buy
something for your mom. You can get her two pieces
if you wanted to, or get your sister or your
cousin and then get something for yourself too.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Okay, all of that available at Mobile back Ones and
find Jewelry. I mentioned a moment ago that they have
thousands and thousands of jewelry items in stock. There's not
enough room and the display cases to show all that jewelry.
Anna mentioned looking up going through their inventory. You can
do that at mobile bay coins dot com. Just go
to the shop button and you can do a keyword search.

(10:19):
Do it do a lot of your customers do that?
Do they search online? First?

Speaker 2 (10:23):
They do, and they come in with screenshots or like
a list of things that they want to try on
and see how it fits. And you know, some people
are picky about the earrings, like the post being tooth
thick or too thin, or the classp on like a bracelet,
and the size of the ring if it's gonna be
bulk here, how it fits. So people like to come
in and try things on before they actually purchase them

(10:45):
online or you know, call the store. They can come
in and look before they can commit to it.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
And all the items have a convenient at the end
of the title. The part number very sharp, like if
it's a ring, it's rin and a number. You need
to jot those down. If you're in a hurry, you
can send Ann or some eye somebody a list ahead
of time through the website of the item's numbers you
want to see, and we can have them laid out
on a tray and ready for it.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Well, you guys had a customer on Saturday. I noticed
Eric was the one waiting on them. But there was
a couple, a couple that had came in on Saturday,
and I don't think they had time to go through
all the jewelry we had. They came back on Monday
morning and Eric had to run back and forth to
the back safe and get stuff out for them to
look at rings because there was just that they didn't

(11:29):
have enough time during Saturday hours to look at everything.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
And there's thousands and thousands of yesdays.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
So again, mobile bay coins dot com and then click
on the shop button and you'll be able to do
a keyword search. So if if you want to buy uh,
I was when I was doing it. When I was
going through the courtship process trying to court this woman
and get her to become my wife. I was doing
keyword searches all the time because she likes emeralds. She

(11:56):
likes those kind of things. So that's something you can do. Uh,
listener with mobiobaycins dot com. Now, tell me about just
just some of your new items or things that are
particularly popular at Mobile bay coins right now.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Well, we I've mentioned the battering before, but now it's
officially the coin of the month for May. The twenties
twenty five batterrain design. It's a different one from all
the other batterings we've had in the past.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
It's old school.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, it's an old school almost like the comic book one.
If I had to guess, I don't know much. You know,
I'm not a crazy Batman fan. I love Batman, but
I'm not like, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
All You're healthy about it. Yes, you shouldn't know too
much about it when you were unhealthy.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
But it's also an actual coin from a Samoa. And
it's weird how a lot of like the pop culture
related coins are all these different countries that we normally
winn't hear from. You know, Canada has done a few,
I think with the maple leaf like a logo.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Thousands of specialized not Batman's, but thousands of different coins
throughout the year.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
But it's really cool stuff like these batterings. You look
like you could sharpen the nds and I'm just like
throw them like a Kunin knife.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
You know.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
I think at one point Batman has those little batterings.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Ye rows the idea, I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Yeah, yeah, so they look really cool. I wouldn't recommend polishing,
you know, polishing one up or sharpman anyone. Don't don't
do that.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
If you do, save the shavings because they'll be silver.
You could sell them.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Yeah, but it's a fun way to own silver.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
And speaking of cool things, we did get another. Is
it a two ounce bullet?

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Yeah, we got a two ounce bullet. It's a it's
a you can't load. Put it in the gun and
loaded and shooting your werewolves with it. I wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
It would not get dead, right, yes, manually.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
But it's two ounces of five silver shaped in the
a big big bullet.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
And those I've noticed them for years off and on
at Mobile Bay, coins and fine jewelry. They're always popular,
aren't they.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Yes, they are, and a lot of companies haven't been
making them because silver's back up, so they're devoting their
time to just like the us meant to making the
ones then demand like the on Ouce generic rounds ten
ounce bars. The us Min's concentrating on making twenty twenty
five American silver eagles, so it takes away from specialized
products because the US Mint has to by law produce

(14:11):
silver eagles to investor demand and collector demand for the
generic ones.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Just a bullion.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
That's another great gift for graduations is twenty twenty five
silver eagle.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
A good one. And speaking of other deals, we do
have the quite a few of the do not tread
on these With the snake, I think it's maybe a COVID.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
We did a newsletter blast on that and sold almost
probably seventy percent of them.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah, a lot of it has gone, so there's a
few left, a few tubes left if you wanted some.
Normally we charged the higher premium for those because they
do cost more to get in for ordered from a supplier.
But we got this on in the state, so they're trying.
We're trying to clear this out and close it out
for the people.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Yeah, pretty much, you could buy the role, you have
to buy roll quantity. You gotta buy twenty of them
and they make great gifts, great design, always popular. But
normally we would have to sell those for about six
dollars over Spot because we have to pay over what
we're basically selling them for, right, So great price.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Yeah, great deal, great collectible.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
So with all of the I know that over the
the Biden years, especially people you just had new people
coming in constantly wanting to get into gold and silver
because they were worried about the economy. Do you still
get new people all the time that have never bought
precious metals coming into Mobile Bay Coins trying to start Oh.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Yeah, we have. We had a people today come into
like Ron was saying, but it happens pretty much on
the weekly basis where we have people that don't really
know and we've hear her stories all the time where
somebody got burnt or ordered something online and yeah, came
in to sell it and they bought it, like on eBay.
Somebody recently had come in they bought something on eBay

(15:48):
and then tried came into the shop, found out it
was not real and tried to return it, but the
person on eBay had, you know, disappear. Yeah, so they couldn't.
They were trying to figure out to get their moneys back.
So when you're ordering online, you got to really be careful.
So we do recommend come into the shop look at items.
We can do a show and tell let us know

(16:10):
that you're new, because we don't all we can't. You know,
you got to let me know that you're just if
you have questions, we can answer them. You know we're available.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
And I've watched for years at mobile back coins and
find Jewelry listener. If you've never been in, it is
not a high pressure where they're trying to get you
to buy something at all costs. You want whoever walks
out with gold and Silver to be very satisfied.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Oh yeah. And we have a lot of people that
come in and they want to be discreened and they
have large orders that or you know, large amounts of
some of the money that they want to spend put
into gold and silver, and we can do that a
lot of the time. We can get you a great
discount price. I want a big break off the premium
if we order it in in larger quantities.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Okay, So, and if somebody is new to it, you
don't mind taking the time to talking them through it.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Oh, no, that's what we're therefore, I like, I like doing.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
That all right. So you mentioned earlier in this half
hour that that now, if somebody wants to sell scrap
jewelry at the price they're gonna they're gonna do quite
well with the prices of gold and silver. What about
people that just want estimates and they want to know
what they've got and what they're worth. Will you still

(17:22):
are you still able to do that for free? Right now?

Speaker 3 (17:25):
We still are able to do that for free. We
do ask if they call and let us know, give
us a description. What you have will fit in a
shoebox or less. Usually we say come right in. If
it's the largest state, or you have special needs for
that estate, maybe you're the executor and you have to
get it all documented, what have you. We can help
you with that. So just give us an idea and
then we will recommend based on what you have, when

(17:45):
you should bring it in. But if it's a shoebox
or less, they can pretty much bring in at anytime,
right Anna.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Yes, absolutely, And actually, speaking of people calling in about estimates,
I had a lady call in today and she said,
asked if she could bring some coins in and she
wanted to make an appointment, but this was she said.
It was in like a small, tiny little watch box,
you know, and I.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Was just totally just come on in.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
But she said she wasn't sure what to do with
those coins of where to go, but she said three
people had recommended us for her to come to us,
so she's going to be coming in this week.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
That's fantastic. Now people come in get the estimate. They
if they don't want to sell their stuff to you,
are they still going to get the estimer for.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Freek Absolutely, there's no pressure. Like you said, We just
asked the people give us an opportunity to make an
offer if they're shopping it around, which is a good idea.
Give Mobile Bay coins a chance to give you an
offer on those items.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
I would recommend going elsewhere first and then coming to us.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
We don't play beat the price, but we just people
end up selling to us. So I mean, if you
want to shop around, I've told you for how many years?

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Unk, I'm the entire time I've known you. You In fact,
I remember back especially when there was buy we buy
gold signs all on every corner. Yep, you you want
wanted people to shop it around because you were so
confident that you were going to give them a really
good price.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Yeah, we've been doing it a long time. I've been
doing a long time personally in my life. And I
mean any coin dealer wants to buy scraps. You get
jewelry that way, things you can refurbish. So I mean
we pay strong and try to get the items and
we win many, many, many times. And I mean usually
it's when people shopped around and came in. You don't
have to come back last week. Just try to say.
People trip to come to his first drive around a

(19:26):
lot of times and I said, I'll just sell to
this guy. It's the last one, you know, Just come
in and you don't have to tell us what the
other offers are. Just let us give you an offer.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
And yeah, I've had several occasions where people, you know,
we've given them an offer and they were trying to
get something else out of it. We can try to
put it on consignment or run it past Nancy and
see if she'd be willing to, you know, pay a
bit more than we normally would to see if we
can get the deal, but on something really nice to
where you know, Nancy has done that for people where

(19:55):
there have been beautiful pieces of jewelry that she ended
up paying bit extra for more than we would have
normally paid even over melt, you know.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Double the Mountain jewelry.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Yes, she likes jewelry, so yeah, give her a chance.
So if you don't like our offer, just let us
know what you're trying to get out of it. We
can ask Nancy and see if she'd be willing to
do that.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
All right, Is there any work just about out of time?
Anything else you want to throw out there?

Speaker 3 (20:20):
It's always nice to see and congratulations congratulations.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Yeah, I you know, I Uh, at some point I
want to get my wife to come in here and
talk about once we get her ring put together, I
want her to come out and talk about working. Uh,
because she talks about Anna all the time. I like Anna.
That's and here's a very sweet lady. Yes, And I
was not trying to do an impression of my wife.
I caught myself there, all right. So uh, if you

(20:43):
want to call Mobile Bay Coins and set an appointment
for for a free estimate or just to ask questions,
two five one seven two five fifteen ninety that's two
five one, seven, two, five, fifteen ninety. You've heard us
talk about their email newsletter. You can go to Mobile
bay coins dot com sign up for that email newsletter.
You're gonna get those deals sent right to your your
email inbox. Ron and Anna thank you for coming in today.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
You're welcome.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
