Speaker 1 (00:06):
This is News Radio seven to ten wntim's asked the
expert Uncle Henry here once again with Ron and Anna
of Mobile Bay Coins and Find Jewelry. You'll find Mobile
bay Coins and find Jewelry at twenty two oh four
Government Street in Midtown bo Bill. You'll also find Mobile
bay Coins and find Jewelry online at Mobile baycoins dot

(00:27):
com and also lots of great pictures on the Mobile
bay Coins and find Jewelry Instagram and Facebook. Ron and Anna,
have you been as busy as you always are at
Mobile Bay Coins.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
The last couple of days have been pretty busy. A
lot of estates have been coming in and I think
Ron actually got some of those standy Liberty quarters that
are raw but beautiful condition.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
The states are, especially the older stuff. This is These
were things that a person's grandfather had collected that they inherited,
and the standy Liberty Quarter, which is not complete unfortunately,
because there's some really expensive scarre states like the nineteen sixteen.
But I'd say ninety percent of the coins are uncirculated
and they've been in an older album. Wayne Raymond is

(01:12):
the designer of the album. They have nice rim toning
and beautiful coins, so that's not available yet and someone
we might get great but if people are interested in
and they are fans of this standing Liberty quarter series,
then come by and take a look at it.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Okay, so great stuff coming in always at Mobile Bay
coins and find jewelry. Tell me where where are the
precious metals? Now?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Up?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Up, up and up.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, gold's over three thousand again. Well it's been over
three thousand a while, but I should have set over
thirty three hundred thirty three hundred and fifty.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Three is what it closed out in the US.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
But it's still trading overseas, so it's trades, but pretty
much twenty four hours a day and Monday through Sunday
and just cuts off on Fridays. Excuse me, Friday through Sunday,
cuts off Friday at four to twenty, and it starts
back up on Sunday on four to twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
So they're up.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Silver is once again up over thirty four and it's
catching up a little bit. That gold to silver ratio
is shrunk a little, not as much as it should have.
Gold versus silver that's a big gap. Before this increase,
it was one hundred and one to one, so it
would take you to trade one hundred and one ounces
of silver to get one ounce of gold, and that's huge.
I mean when we first started talking to Angel and

(02:20):
I with you, it was trading about forty five to
fifty to one, so it's almost double where it was.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
But it's always been a big topic too that everybody
keeps thinking the ratio gold silver silver to gold is off,
but it remains that it remains that way, So maybe
it's not.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Ye, it must it must be right.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
It just seems strange that it's that far off based
on historical I mean, but still it's relevant if you're
you're looking what silver dime would have brought you back
in the forties, fifties, whatever, when even seventies, I mean,
excuse me, sixties before they stopped making silver. It's pretty
much the same now as what US currency that is
in silver would have bought you.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
So with gold being up up up, as you said,
and silver up, how has that affected the behavior of
your customers? Are people coming in trying to sell and
make profit or they does that make them want to
buy it even more? Both?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
There's people that are kind of just pamlicing, and what
might happen with gold and silver. It might jump up
another one hundred dollars twenty dollars for silver, and there's
you know, people crossing their fingers because you know, they've
been investing for silver for a long time and hopefully
it might pay out. But we don't know what's going
to happen. But there's still people's people coming in and
selling as well to profit take or to just move

(03:38):
their collection because they have so much stuff where they
have bills due.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah, everybody has their opinion. Some people think, okay, maybe
gold's reached its max. Maybe I should, you know, profit take,
and same as somebody would do with stock portfolio. I
personally look at gold, silver, platinum, pladium as a hedge,
something that you kind of don't even really need to
look at unless you really like me or we CID
and you want to keep an eye on it. But
it's meant to protect the offset of a drop and
other things like the stock market and the US dollar,

(04:04):
which is the main reason the last few days gold
has really jumped in silver as the dollar has been
getting really beat up.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Yeah. Well, that's what I've always learned from mobile bak
coins and fine jewelry is that there are not a
lot of speculators as there are just people hedging just
wanting to make sure they don't lose value.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Especially older retired people. Usually they I mean, you want
to have your money in cash liquid as possible because
you're retired. You know, bills come up, you don't have
a job or a weekly paycheck. You gotta have something
you can count on, and gold and silver you can
take and sell easily if you need money. So it's
a good way to protect the cash. If you had
a lot of cash in your retirement, it's just sitting

(04:43):
there in the bank earning almost nothing. Even with interest
rates up, a lot of people's bank accounts are still
paying less than one percent, which is they should chop
that around. You get better deals than that, but still
you want your money to do better than that, and
you want don't want to shrink for sure. And that's
really what you've had going on right now. Now.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
If you the listener you enjoy hearing Ron and Anna
talk about these topics, you can go to their website
Mobile baycoins dot com and you can sign up for
an email. They you email people when there's certain deals
at Mobile bay Coins and find jury and now last
time you were here, you talked about starting a newsletter.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah, I'm almost done. I mean I do it on
my spare time. We announced deals on there all the time,
but actually wrote a newsletter.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
I got about a paragraph left. I got to close it. Okay, man,
So it'll be up this week. We'll launch it out.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
I meant to do that today, but once again, you
get busy, and I like to do it when I'm
fresh in the morning, so it really depends. I thought
going to bank at nine o'clock this morning would be
a great idea, and that was not so much a
great idea. Yeah, at least not that on Tuesdays at
p and C. Anyways, So I mean the morning got
eaten up really quick, and it was busy at the
shop with people coming in. But yes, I will have
that launched this week.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Okay. A good response so far to having the emails.
Because I enjoy getting a subscribers.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
That's one of the reasons I want to get it
out there now. I mean, most people have enjoyed just
the deal part, but it's always nice to get background
what my opinion is and his opinion other people there
at the shop, with the here of the why and
the when of gold, silver, platinum, pladium and jewelry, A
lot of people, I mean, diamonds are cheap. People might
want to upgrade a diamond. We can pick up really
nice quality raw diamonds to get them remodeled for you

(06:19):
on your your jewelry. We don't currently have a full
time jewelry, but we have a relationship with a really
high quality jewelry store in town that take care of
that for you.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Well. And it's it's interesting that you mentioned that part
when we're talking about your newsletter, because I know that
gold and silver there there's always fluctuations in price, But
it seems like jewelry, the whole industry of lab grown
diamonds and things has changed a little bit of the
way that jewelry now is valued.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yes, yes, it absolutely And.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
The younger generation does want to buy precious metals. They
want to buy what have they been buying, I mean titanium.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Yeah, titanium rubber bands, believe it or not. And I'm
just like, okay, well.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
But there are but there is jewelry is it is
no longer like a static industry. There are changes now
in jewelry.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Yes, there are.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Change Yeah, a lot even jewelers looking when we lost
our jewelry. We've been looking for over a year for
somebody that really wants to work full time as a jeweler,
and they're not out there. When I first started the business,
I mean, and it wasn't that long ago here in
Mobile there was teath that out of college. You could
call the college over there and they would send you up,
you know, as almost as many people as you want,
the twenty to thirty people at a time per class.

(07:33):
So it was pretty easy. You had a nice, nice choice.
So like going to Walmart for something, now you had choices.
Not the choices are limited, not that there's not jewelers,
but they all want to work from their own homes
and things of that nature, and everything has to stay
in the house if you're taking it to Mobile Bay Coins.
So if you are a jeweler out there and you
want to work part time or full time, give us
a call.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
And again if you want to if you want to
get these newsletters and also deals, go to Mobile bay
coins dot com and sign up for those emails. You
will enjoy those emails. Now we have Father's Day coming up,
and I would think I always think of Mobile Bay
coins and fine jewelry as a one stop shop for
gift buyd Now, what kind of good gift ideas do

(08:16):
you have for people buying Father's Day gifts?

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Well, I got ten percent off on the Open Air
knives that's a French made knife, carbon steel blade. So far,
I had no complaints ever, and we've been selling those
for years. And the carbon steel really works well, especially
if you take care of your blade and oil it.
Don't leave it out, you know in the ring, you

(08:39):
don't put in a dishwasher. Yeah, if you take care
of it, it lasts a long time. We also have
to mm hmm yep, really really sharp and I've I've
got scars to prove it because I've I used my
open All knife to open packages that come in every day.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Well, I I bought I used pairing knives, so I
bought those when Angelo first brought Open All knives Intomobile
Bay Coins and find Jewelry. I've been using those pairing
knives every day since I bought those knives. I don't
know how long ago. That was eight years ago, nine
years ago. And for gift buying, I've bought lots of
the Open All knives as gifts. We talked about it

(09:17):
a few shows ago. They've got Normally they are wooden handles,
but they do have a polymer handle like an outdoor
sport type knife. And I've bought several of those to
give us gifts. They're such great gifts, those knives.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
They're bright colors, outdoor ones, and they have a whistle
on the other end of them. They also have what
they call a junior knife, so the point is not sharp,
it's rounded, so the kids can't, you know, hurt each
other or whatever.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Good.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Good, So ten percent off the open all knives. That's
great for Father's Day. What else you got?

Speaker 2 (09:49):
We got collegiate watches, same deal, ten percent off and
those feature like LSU Auburn Alabama.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Well, I was about to say, you put them third,
why would you ari?

Speaker 4 (10:00):
The best goes last?

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Hey, hey, the best goes last.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Okay, all right? Good? Save ten off on collegiate watches.
And these are officially licensed.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
And we also have deals on like chains and pendants,
and we have gold chains, silver chains and pendants and
things in it. It could be like a cross, a crucifix,
what do we call a nautical cross as well, or
like an anchor you know, a lot of dads go
out fishing and do boats around here, so that's a
great gift. Bracelets, rings, and we have them in gold

(10:32):
and silver. There's also a few platinum rings out there
as well. Those all make great gifts for that.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
And just if whatever your dad is interested in, you
can go into Mobile Bay Coins and find jewelry and
tell Anna or Ron you you may have some some
bullion that is based on their interest. I mean every
service is represented.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Yeah, or novelty coin of some sort. There's any rare
collectible coins and encouragcy if they're collectors. We also have
an Elvis coin. I believe it's or so round with
Elvis on it, but it's it's a collectible, limited edition
Elvis one ounce piece.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
It has a serial number, so they're collectible. I it's
like Mickey Mouse, they're trademark, they're collectible. All these are
licensed items, but they're popular so they usually sell more.
But still it's a cool item. They're not going to
break the bank. And I just like Angelo, enjoyed stacking
pop culture stuff stuff that's just not just plain old silver.

(11:34):
So it gives you a little something of variation instead
of eating the same meal every day you're eating, but
you're collecting silver and stacking different types.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
It's that the same old generic stuff.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
What about do you have Trump rounds if somebody wants
to give dad Trump rounds?

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Yes, we do, and we have I think three different designs,
the forty seventh President, the mug shot, and the fight Fight.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Now you know you know your dad wants a Trump
mug shot. I mean every everybody should have the mugshot
in their in their house. Now, what anything else that
you can think of for dads at Mobile Bay coins
and ponjury you want to tell us.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
About, I'm trying to think of what we would even have.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
I mean people have been coming in buy like you said,
they open all knives. They've been buying them just playing
old bully, and a lot of their dad's have been
talking about gold and silver. Maybe you haven't gotten into
it yet. You can buy tenh onunce, you can buy
one gram.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
A lot of things.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Get him into gold or silver is very inexpensive when
you consider Father's Day.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Well, something people have been doing is doing like a
birth year set where they get like a coin of
every type from the year that their dad was born
and I've seen that done.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Okay, and any any coin albums or things things like
that you can use if dad wants to spend time
collecting a certain coin.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Yeah, there's people that do Kennedy have dollar sets because
a lot of I don't know why, but you know,
Kennedy was very popular and still is.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
And expensive and it's modern and you don't have to
break the bank to fill an almel. A lot of
people will help get grandkids one. That's why I thought
State quarters were a good idea from the US min
because you can find him here, change, put him an album,
and collect him in there. I as a kid, that's
what collecting was. You got exactly changed or traded with
other people, and that was collecting. So then you grew
into the coin shop type of thing where you went

(13:23):
out and bought coins. But it's a way to get
youngsters or older people interested in the hobby.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
So lots of great Father's day stuff at Mobile Bay
Coins and fine jewelry, so go buy and get dad
something there. What about just general deals for those of
us that loved the precious metals, any deals out there
for us at Mobile Bay Coins? Oh?

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Absolutely, Ron has like gold coin deals that features. I
think it's a lot of the fractional pieces that we
have on sale right now. There's silver rounds bars, you know,
one ounce, ten ounds, one hundred ounces bars. He has
a really good deal on one hundred ounce bar right now.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Yeah, right, we got quite a few extras, so you
can get it for under a dollar over spot, and
like ten dollars Indians, we were talking about fractional gold
less than one hundred dollars over spot. I mean those
things used to trade au to MS sixties for about
two seventy five three hundred dollars over spot, so not
about ninety bucks over melt.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
I mean that's that that day comes in.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
So we have a lot of those in stock, and
some of the fractional pieces too, plenty of ten thouns
in gram golds and smaller golds that you don't have
to break.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
The bank to get your dad into.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
It might be a little more than a youngster is
going to buy for Father's Day, but a silver round
or something along those lines is very affordable, and a
lot of the youngsters can't afford getting them silver.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah, or the ninety percent silver coinage what I think
nowadays they call it constitutional silver but to a collector,
I think they still call it junk silver. But don't
get offended, guys, it's just it's just old ninety percent
silver dimes, quarters and half dollars. We have great deals
on those.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Okay, Now what about what about the beautiful stuff ron
the investment grade collectible stuff, do you I have a
good supply of that if for the serious the person
loves coins, loves collecting them.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Yeah, we also enjoy when I say, also, it's really
me finding things for people if they're looking for that
nineteen sixteen d standing liberty quarter.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
With that, it's very rare.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
I can go on the market, talk to other dealers,
find examples, get them in for them to look at
before they buy them. But as far as in stock,
it's constantly changing. We've got, like we were talking about
that estate that just came in, lots of raw, thousands
of thousands of coins available, certified and raw. We have
some of the nicest stuff displayed in a case right
by Anna's workstation. And if you don't see what you're

(15:35):
looking for in their ass a lot of people are shy.
Just like on the jewelry side of the business, we
can't put everything out in the case every day, it
would be a mess and it wouldn't be good for
the jewelry or yeah, just can't really do it. So
a lot of things that we have stored easy to
pull out in boxes. So if you say I'm looking
for this item number, we can pull it up. And
a lot of these items, if not all of them,

(15:55):
are available on our web store on eBay.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah, sometimes you don't even have to need to come
in until you're ready to purchase, because you can go
to our eBay store and find the right date, the
mint that you're looking for, the condition, and the price range,
and you can always get a little discount when you're
in the shop. So all you have to do is
just take a screenshot with your phone or write down
our part number which is at the end of every listing,

(16:19):
and then we can when you come in, we can
pull the item that you decide whether you want to
get it or not, and give you a little discount
on it.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Okay, So when you go to mobile bay coins dot com,
look for where it says shop and when you click there,
that'll that'll show you how to get to the eBay
store and do those searches. I've told you on a
lot of shows that I've been searching your jewelry selection
using that for years now. My wife is doing that
all the time, and she's the one doing screenshots and

(16:48):
telling me that she's calling Anna and all that kind
of stuff.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Well, you've got yourself to blame for that one. I
didn't do it.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Okay, Wow, we should be seeing thank you, sir.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
No, you know, look, I'm as happy as I can
be because I know she's getting the best deal that
she's gonna find by going to you. So I like that.
I like that aspect.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
I guess I should have thought you said you've taught
her well.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yet exactly go, I've taught her well by going to
Mobile bay coins dot com and clicking on the shop
button and then searching for what you like. Now we
mentioned jewelry earlier. How is that selection? I know it's
thousands and thousands of pieces, and.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
We have everything from silver to gold and platinum, you know,
fine diamonds and jewelry to things that are more on
the lower end but look like a million bucks. I
had one lady come in that have bar like an
Art Deco style ring and silver, and it looked like
it would be a million bucks. It really did. It

(17:49):
looked really good. But you know, she didn't spend an
arm in the leg and she got in on the
deal that was by to get one freeze. So she
got a really nice deal because she got a ring
and some earrings and necklace to match, and then she
brought her sister in. So you can't beat those deals.
And we do have, you know, fine jewelry items, like
one of the items that this is something that I've

(18:12):
spotted that I think is really cute. It's a white
gold dangle earrings with diamonds that go all the way down.
They sparkle. Really classy kind of piece. It's but it's
something that you'd wear to like a fancy dinner or ball.
You couldn't wear it. I don't see people wearing that
every day unless you're just that fancy.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Right, Yes, okay, And I guess you just have all
types of jewelry at every price point.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Oh yeah, And we also carried designer brand names. A
lot of people are not aware that we have, you know,
Pandora bracelets and charms. Judith Ripcuh. She's one of the
other popular designers that does fairly expensive strolling silver jewelry,
but her pieces look really good. She does a great
or her team does a great job at, you know,

(19:01):
putting all the finer details on the pieces of jewelry,
because even like the clasp itself has a little heart
and detail to it, that is her signature.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Look.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
And then we have David Yormann pieces, we have Tiffany
as well.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Okay, now we've only got a couple of minutes left here.
When we started this conversation, you mentioned estates. You'd had
some estates come in. Are they coming in to get
the free appraisal? Is that what they're doing is to
get an appraisal of what they've gone.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Yes, sir, it's been about fifty to fifty right now.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Because the executor is obviously responsible for dividing that up
or giving it to the person that's inheriting it, and
they're and managing it and figuring out what it's worth.
In many cases in people's wills, they want those items liquidated,
or maybe the executor just has to liquidate it to
pay the bills, who knows, whatever the reason, we can
help them out with those appraisals, and if they have

(19:54):
to divide that up amongst multiple errors, we can help
make sure everybody's getting even share.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Now, this is again, this is a free service. Now,
if people I know these executors, they want to pay
you something. If they see it's it can be hard work,
they want to pay you. What do you do?

Speaker 4 (20:09):
Sometimes they do.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
If it's an attorney and it's for something legal, they
do have to give you at least a dollar to
a legal deal.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
But for states they don't have to. We just give
it to them.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Yeah, I've told Nancy when you like a tip jar,
but she says no. But people still give us tips
from time to time and we put we call it
the smoothie king bin or jar and we put, you know,
get smoothies once in a while, do pizzas.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
So some of your favorite customers farm or grow a
lot of veggies. And during this growing season, how many
cool things people bring in?

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Oh, yeah, well it is. It is so you don't
mind doing it even if they don't want to sell though, right,
if you don't want to sell, you'll still give me
an appraisal. I can take them insurance.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Company, no pressure.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
And if they're shopping around, like we told you know
near many a time, I mean, give us a chance
and help us out.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
All we ask in that case is you don't.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Present our offer in front of the other deal or
let let them be to be fair, make them do
an offer on their own, and just pick the whoever
you're most comfortable with at the end.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Okay, So free appraisals at Mobile Bay coins some fine jewelry.
Now you like people to call if it's a big amount, right.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
Yeah, if it's more than it'll fit in a shoe box,
we ask that you call, talk to one of us
and we'll let you know what time you could bring
that in.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
And it's it's we like doing it.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
And when somebody shows up and we have people get
they get out of Dolly, you get excited and kind
of scared at the same time if it's a busy
time of the day, because you don't want other people
have to wait while you take care of it. And
it's been like that the last few weeks. We've had
a large estates just showed up.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
And we pulled it off.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
But it was, uh, it was busy with all the
people coming in and out.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
We've had people that had called us quite if this
has happened quite a few times. I wanted to mention
it because it's just funny because it's people calling out
of state, and I mean like Utah. You know, people
from Utah calling us asking if we can come over
and look at their coins, and I'm like, ah, a,
you're gonna buy a plane ticket because I think because
they see the mobile coins.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
You know that we travel around don't think mobiles. So
it's amazing. If you live outside this area, you don't.
You always. I was first in here. A guy next
to me he said, so this is mobile, old Bam.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
I'm like, it's mobile, dude, So yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
