Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the Flavor podcast Network. You're listening to Staca, Zarah
and Charlie's Off the Record.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
What your record? Welcome to off the Record with Stac
and Charlie. We talk about thanks that didn't go on
the radio.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
And this may be is very private, but you're going
to share it anyway. Your budget. You made a.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Budget, Oh, story of our lives, right, Yes, me and
my partner made a budget. FYI not very good at it.
Didn't go to a bank, just sort of winged it.
But it's it's more about actually properly saving money. And
I don't know why you do get a little bit
nervous when it comes to those sort of conversations because
you know, you guys are both married. You guys have
(00:44):
to have conversations about money and your money and their
money and your ticket the money, probably quite regularly. But
for me, this is the first time I've ever he
ever sat down with a partner and created shared accounts.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Your money, their money business.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Look, listen, listen, I don't even know what you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yeah, I know what you mean, but honestly, what's mine
as is really really so it doesn't when I'm listening
to this I'm like, wait, hang on what.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
And no, we didn't talk about money a lot, just
sort of like, I mean, you do have to figure
out your money personality. We actually went to what's called
a financial personal trainer because I realized that me and
my husband are quite different. Financial trainer, yeah that's what
it's called. Yeah, it's not an AD by the way,
but her name is Hannah. It enabled me so so
basically she just gets you to be honest about how
(01:35):
you're spending money. Like say, for instance, he's a bit
more spendy than me, but he'll go like, let's get
you know, the you know, more expensive thing, and it
will last for long and I'm like, no, I just
get the cheaper one. But then also he doesn't care
about details. But if you give him a goal, then
he'll respond really well to that. And I just didn't
want to get into this thing of nagging. I just
I think it's bad in a relationship with one person's
(01:57):
always nagging and you got to do this and you
got to do that. Yes, so it was good to
have someone in between. And also that it sort of
unlocked that if he has a goal and he knows
what he's saying, for then he'll he'll really focus on it.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
I just think you've got to normalize having conversations like
that because you know, in my mind, if you're going
to have a future with someone, that future needs to
be not one sided.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Yeah, this is a pretty serious step for you guys,
I mean, dam but still.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Now but he's he's been great, like literally, I can't
even tell you. He fully listened, he was attentive, he agreed.
You know, we decided, okay, what's important to us right now.
It's travel. So that actually got more money than the
first Home account. And then yeah, you know, he's going
to start his own emergency fun just for things like
WAFF and Red John tires. So am I in my
(02:46):
own account? So there's only other than our food for
each week because usually it's quite easy and I do
the grocery shopping most most of the time. Yeah, just food,
travel and first Home and that's a lot smaller but
more long terhim. So it's actually really simple. We didn't
over complicated, and I think do health insurance and did it?
We're not that deep in it yet.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Are you allowed to have coffee still?
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah, okay, not even were given a lot of players.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Because she buys like we do round.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah, they misund to be fair.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
He didn't really do much much of the talking now
that I think.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
About it, and I think about it was a great
conversation because I talked the whole time.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
But do you agree he agreed? He did. He did
the listening and the agreement because I've done this, man,
I've done budgets and that before, and so anyways, I
love him because he is really great, just going you
know what, I will trust you blindly. I actually set
up a joint account for one of them with a
bank that is different to mine and different to his.
(03:48):
And even he goes, oh, why bother even making an
adjoint account, like just make it an individual, but we
both he doesn't care, like he just trusts wholeheartedly. Not
that you know, he's got no reason or not trust,
but pretty crazy to me. I would want access to
see you know.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I'll tell you guys, you know saying it is really
good with money. She can honestly stretch out one hundred
dollars bill the last two weeks. I mean, maybe exaggerating
with today's inflation, but she is really good. You know.
When we sit down and we talk about money, it's like,
(04:26):
you spend too much, you do this, you need to
do this, you need to do this, And honestly, I'm
sitting there, I'm like, it's wait, wait a minute, low
key in my head. I didn't say this to it.
This is my money. She's really good. When we need
to do anything, it's like I almost have to write
an email to the bank just to get some money out.
(04:48):
And that's like, Okay, is this a needle? Is this
a one?
Speaker 2 (04:51):
No?
Speaker 3 (04:51):
But that's because of how you're rolling.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Yeah, exactly. And it's so important that every relationship has
someone like that. You know, We've got I've got literally
a friend a couple of hours and she refers to
her partner as the financial advisor, like, oh, you'll left
to ask the financial adviser. So it's not necessarily like
a woman thing. You know, Guys do like to take
on that responsibility as well. Either way, as long as
(05:14):
someone's doing it, then you know you will be creating
a hopefully bit of future. It's funny because the number
that he are furnished with us, but the number that
he ended up with each week is it's a good
enough number to literally by lunch every day, maybe go
and have a few beverages, like you will be just
fine on that amount of money for a week. But
he says, oh man, I'm not going to have any money,
(05:38):
and I'm like, but you will. It's just money you
don't have access to, Like that's it's out of sight,
out of mind. But I guess for people who have
not really thought to save before, they don't really see
it that way. They just see it as men I've
got no money.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
They ain't, but not you.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Okay, thanks for listening to Stace's Azua and Charlie's Off
