And Charlie's off the record.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
What's your record? Welcome to Off the Record with Stacis
and Charlie.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
So the part you did here on the record was
when we were talking about weddings and should you give
a gift when you have to travel for the wedding.
I mean, some of the standout techs for me were
people saying, well, we're expected as groomsman, pay for the suit,
all of those things and also give five thousand to
the sibling. Another one said, our wedding was one hundred
(00:38):
k and some people who are quite well off didn't
give us a present, and we think it's a bit
stink And so it brought up lots of different angles
ones I didn't expect. Actually, one says, you know, if
it's in the country, yes then a present or a
corp has good manners. But if you travel outside of
the country then it's okay, you don't have to.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yeah, it's basically the Briting Room just need to be
very very specific about what they're expecting from their guests.
If they were and groom and groom, Yeah, they just
need to just say it, Just say it, just say
it for how it is. But then, you know, it
got me thinking about gift giving in general. You know,
what if you get invited to a birthday party and
you know the person you don't know, you don't know
(01:19):
them like that, do you take a gift?
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Are you asking this because you're in this situation? Yes,
well you take a small gift. And what's the situation
for you?
Speaker 2 (01:30):
So I'm going to a thirtyeth tomorrow. It's a long lunch.
They are paying for everyone too at the lunch. Oh
not myself though, because I'm on challenge, So I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Not going to do the fund since you're on challenge, so.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
I'm not going to do the bottomless or I mean,
you know, I'll just choose something healthier off the menu. Anyways,
but they're paying for it. I don't know whether I
don't know, well, well, they're just paying for the package,
which is, like, you know, eighty dollars per person. So
I'm unsure because I'm out of it, whether I'll get
it paid for. Like would you would you take a prison?
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Na?
Speaker 2 (02:07):
I I know what i'd do. I just want to
know what you guys probably get.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Invited to anything like that, and they're and they're paying
for everything that obviously are you not invited the way
you're just taking along with your plus one with me,
I'd offer to I'll just offer like, hey, can I
just pay for something? You know what I mean, like
sort of put something it, just just put something towards it,
even though like you know they'll be and you put
them to the test, you put it like the balls
(02:33):
in their court when you get when you get to
the hey, hey I'll grab this some I'll grab this.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
I mean that's what I would have done anyway, because
I'm not doing the interesting. But it's different because for me,
I just think you should always get a gift.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
We'll get a gift then, but what are you going
to get them when you don't really know them?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I know, I know, I know. That's That's what I'm
sort of stuck with. I do know her, I just don't,
like I wouldn't. I mean, you can get a voucher, right,
like a make a voucher or flowers or a bottle
of wine. But the funny thing is is it's my
partner who's really close with the person, and he's so
slack man like I'm like going to get there?
Speaker 1 (03:10):
What am I going to get? Then?
Speaker 3 (03:11):
I remember you.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Saying that for her. Yeah, you're not, That's not my job.
Like at the end of the day, it's literally one
of his close back mates. I think everyone should get
a prison on their thirdyift, I really do well.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
I think you should read gift to something you got
given for free? How about that.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
I don't have anything from the Chimistry house. I've given
it all away. Okay, yeah, yeah, I am a chronically
gifted though and proud of it. I don't care about
any of that. But the the thing is because people
know what I do for Mahi, it's like and also
I posted on my story when I get free, so
I had.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
That they know I had that awkward thing. When we
did goe to the chimists, we house' even got all
those three things. So I got my daughter to read
gift to her friend. I mean I did choose keirefully
the best things, but she had seen someone else in
the friend group. Their parents went as well, and so
they both we all freak gave it.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
We all gave why not.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Get busted like that?
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Present and gift giving it can be so awkward, That's
what we've realized today that's the moral of this entire story,
Like when it comes to what to get them, how
much to spend, whether to give a physical gift to
monetary gift. It is ridiculous how much we actually all
think about it as humans. So take the pressure off yourself, man,
look at the times we live in. That's all we
(04:32):
have to say.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
That's it. That's it you after long lunch.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Thanks for listening to stay a Zorah and Charlie's off
the record.
