Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the Flavor Podcast Network Flavor Breakfast Producer Picks in.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
A funo and welcome to another episode of Producer Picks.
I've chosen my favorite moments of the week of Status
Aeron Charlie, and I've put them all in one spot
just for you. Even though this week may have been
a day shorter, we've still got some best bits to
go through. With a side of November kicking off. That
means we're just at one step closer to summer, and
we've definitely been noticing it with a nice sunny days,
(00:29):
and that also means the kids some sports will be sunned.
To head off, Charlie, she kicks off the week sharing
a story about his son at his school athletics.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
You notice that time of the year where school athletics
and this is asperis this is your time to go
in and and watch your kids, support them and just
be happy.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
It's not just school.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Athletics as well, because I remember when I was younger,
and I'm sure they still do this. I remember going
to the Toco Fields in the deep Deep South and
they would do summer athletics. So you would just go
along on like a Tuesday night and just run around
and do a different estlet Have you heard of that before? Nah,
(01:11):
it could be a rural thing. I'm not quite sure,
but it's the thing.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
No, but we're talking about school athletics with our children.
This is the season for it, and oh man, this
is the funniest thing. My son was all about it.
Rob comes to me and his mom, Oh, you guys
need to do this. We're wearing yellow. Can you get
us yellow? Because you know you're put into house colored
cowfire feed or and and so forth. So I'm in
(01:37):
team Corfy. We need yellow yellow bands. And it was
all about the whole weird like from head. Yeah, like
even so I remember looking on marketplace for these socks
because that's you couldn't really find yellow socks into it, right.
We ended up finding it and he went looking like
a banana. But that was all good. But the whole
lead up to this Azora was that he was, you
(01:58):
guys need to come and watch me. I'm doing shop port,
I'm doing long job. I'm doing like sprints one hundred meters.
Oh yeah, let's go sun, let's do this bright. And
then the Friday I get there, I see my son
bro He's like bright yellow I'm like, that's my boy,
my boy, that's my banana. And then I see everybody
(02:22):
getting up getting ready for their heats, all the shop
porters going to the shop port, all the long jumpers
going wherever they need to be.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
But tell me why my son's my boy? Exactly where's
my banana?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Go?
Speaker 3 (02:34):
I'm looking for my banana.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
He's going to the teacher, and I'm like thinking, okay,
then he's probably going to ask the question about you know,
maybe one of the rules and the.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Nah nah.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
He goes to the teacher, and then when he leaves
the teacher's little tint, I see him with a clipboard.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
I'm like, okay, well, what's this guy up to?
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Tell me why my son was geeing me and his
mom the whole entire week to come watch him help
facilitate the athletics day.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Om like, oh my gosh, oh my goodness, Rob.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Rob.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
The thing is it is like, where was the lie? Dad?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
He was?
Speaker 4 (03:13):
You know, He's like, Dad, I'm on the shot put
dead on this. He didn't lie, he didn't say he
was competing. So you never you never stopped to think,
maybe these are the roles that can be played exactly
how analytics.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
So when he said I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna
do that, she just meant he's gonna judge. She's gonna
make sure that everybody is staying in the lane.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Everybody's a good skilled they hef though, yeah, it's a
good skill here.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
But that is pretty funny.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
So you've technically showed up to athletics to watch your.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Son be a helper.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
You know, I was you should have to watch be
a helper, But yeah, I was still happy, you know,
to be honest, like, Okay, this is gonna be a
long day.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
And didn't know that's the funny thing.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
He walks away with his little clipboard and then he
goes see where the shot put there and he's like
waving up that.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
I'm just like, oh, they're so cute. Just leave the
power aids in the car, charl saved them for Sunday.
Save them for Sunday.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
You know.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
The thing. The thing is with the athletics, and it's
quite funny. You either have the people that were like me,
and it's like I was involved and I wanted to
be not very good, not very good. So you did
athletics and you were good at athletics I did it
because I love participating. But then there's another group of
people that we don't talk about enough, and that group
is not I'm not just saying the helpers.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
It's the people that have the excuses.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Oh, you're talent, excuses why they didn't do well, Excuses
why you know.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Then on the other day, it's just like it seems
to be either a fashion show or excuses show.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
He could be playing rugby like a playtime Miami.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Now that's why it didn't come first in the one
hundred meters because it doesn't love.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Yeah, Peoper, I told you should let me wear your shoes.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Zarah was away with her family done in christ Church
over the weekend and her dad, who she doesn't say
they often, made a really an appropriate comment to it,
and she just couldn't quite seem to get out of
her head. All families have that one person that just
any chance they get, they'll say something inappropriate. And let's
be real, most of the time it is our dad's
our stays. Also, she's also paid for this. Her dad
(05:25):
is the king of making in appropriate comments.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
So an appropriate parents, Yes.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
The apparent comments that you can always count on being
random and inappropriate. This is standard from my dad. In
the family group chat. My dad is always the one
who's going to say something. Everyone just goes there's basically
no way to reply. It's just a ridiculous thing to say.
But then an example, I was, you know, happily sharing
(05:53):
in a nostalgic moment about my son's last day at
high school, and you know, some pictures and how they'd
been celebrating and one with the teacher and a teacher
who has been great to him, and my dad goes, wow,
there's one hot teacher your son.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
About that, I'm like, uh, this has been my whole life.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
No, I'll have to talk to your son about that. Yes, well,
what are you.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Going to say? Exactly? What are you going to say?
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Who?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
You tea talk? So what are you? I get it though.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
I get it though, because my dad is also the
inappropriate parent.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
You know.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
I went away to Crashots over the weekend and it
was the first time he met my partner, Devin, and what.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Does he do?
Speaker 4 (06:41):
When we were deciding on which room we were taking
in the airbnb, it was three stories, so we decided
my dad is older, rather than him taking three flights
of stairs, will take the top bedroom, so of course
and comes the do not hear any noise from no?
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I just I gave him the stankst Look what would
you mean by that?
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Like?
Speaker 4 (07:05):
What what sort of noise? Maybe I don't. I don't
even think even heard. Thankfully, I just honestly I didn't
even repeat it. I just sort of ignored it. Yeah,
so I feel you, Stace.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
We look.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Honestly, I've had my fair share of It's not so
much my parents, but it's my mother in law.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
I really is.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Honestly, She's ruthless, especially when they're around other women, you
know what I mean. And I remember when I was
changing Pilly when it was still a little baby. This
is my second earltest and br she would say the
most insane things like you know, like.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Colly, you guys just need to have more babies. Is
it not working? Is it? Like? I'm like, whoa, what
the heck?
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Like and all the other ladies wore like you know,
join in and.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Like you're Charlie, you need to do this, you need.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
To I'm just like, oh, bro, this is just and
I'm like, bro, just need to dig a hole in
jumb and man, come on, bro.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Yeah, and they keep on coming the inappropriate beering comments.
We shared this on our Flavor Radio Facebook and you
guys know, we were, like some said, as kids, we
would say, wow, we've never been here before, and my
dad would always say, yes, you have when you were
a little wiggly.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
I I love that all little from Ashley saying, my
mama wanted to take us kids for a family day out.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
There was a free concert happening at Albert Park.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
But we noticed, you know, everyone was just so chill
at the park and after we walked around, we found
out it was j Day.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
I was only ten at the time, and they're taking
a good one.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
So an appropriate appearance, maybe you've got one share something inappropriate?
They did eight two double oh, eight hundred say Flavor.
We will also read out some of the insane comments
we've received on our Facebook posts.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
I forgot, you know, of any given day, my dad
might see someone go oh she could be their fourth
missus Dan in front.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Of his wife the way the JD way.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
So we're talking about inappropriate appearance. We have identified that
Stace and me, we have an appropriate fathers who just
you were the random one? You were the real random one.
We asked the question also on Facebook and oh my gosh,
you guys came through.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
You came through a lot of them are owning up
to being the an appropriate appearance and.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Wait this weeking from Lisa, my husband tells the kids, oh,
I remember when you guys went to the party with
me and you went home with mum.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Do you get it that he was too drunk?
Speaker 4 (09:42):
No, So he's told the kids, you guys went to
the party with me, but you went home with your
mother before they were born. Yeah, there we go. Pennies
drop pennies, dropped the penn Yeah. So we've got Shanna
on the line. Morning Okay, who was an appropriate?
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Good morning?
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Good?
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Who's so?
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Yeah? When my son was born and then my midwife
would comment said, oh, you know, Jess, he's got big hands.
And his father goes, oh, he might be a guitarist.
And then my mom chimes down and she's like, yeah,
or a wanker?
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Who was in the room.
Speaker 7 (10:31):
I had aunties, I had cousins, my sister, you like newborns.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Your mom, your mum is in appropriate?
Speaker 6 (10:47):
Yep, absolutely, it was so funny. Though everybody in the
room laughed, apart from my son's father.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Oh he's trying to soak up.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
You know, this is my son, this is my beautiful moment.
I've seen it in the Huggy's heads and Lia she
is just dropping the one line.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
And like that will be you know, the story that
gets told and retold and retold your entire life exactly
whereas you know your your partners were like, oh.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Here and now it's on the radio and the whole
of old good Oh no, so do.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
You go, Shana, thank you so much for sharing.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Someone else, Monica said, my dad talked about having you
know what with mom to create us kids at my
mom's funeral. It made everyone laugh except for the pastor
at the church. There's a time and place, There's a
time and.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
Place, and my dad seems to think that time and
place is any place, any time. Amount of times I've
heard that story about the front seat of the Valiant
No thank you.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
While Josie goes.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
My mom asked the guy I'd be dating for two
weeks if he loved me even though I look like this.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Oh Mamy, shut up. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
You bring your boyfriend around to your house for the
first time. You guys are probably only like a month
into the relationship two weeks two and already the month. Hey, sorry, Thomas,
before you go any further, do you love my daughter.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Even though she looks like that?
Speaker 4 (12:15):
And it's an honor, It is an honor to you know,
bring your kids, bring your partner around. So the mom
should have been grateful. What about this from Tana? My
dad wore a Pride t shirt to my prison family
day twelve years ago. It had rainbow colored hibiscus flowers
on a purple shirt, but he reckon it looked like
the island colors and when we all saw him walking in,
(12:40):
we just wonder he was runnering where his family didn't
want to stand anywhere near him. It is an appropriate appearance,
I mean, feel free to carry on sharing.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
We are cracking up at the mains Candless stays as
Zarah and Charlie.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
You would have heard the team talking about for idol
over the past month or so. This was the talent
quest that Charlie's dad had organized to try and find
the lead singer for the next band that he wanted
to create. Long story short, the auditions never happened, the
band was never created, but they still had a performance
(13:20):
and Charlie's dad managed to lead from the front in
this performance.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Finally it has happened. It has been done. Yeah, Idol
is complete. It's done in dusted.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
So Sunday it went down and my dad, I'm telling
you man, he runs this is like his little boot camp.
It was like done like in the fashion of New
Zealand Idol. But Bombay Air Idol and Sunday went down.
And let me tell you this, when my kids got
up to see my dad was a surprise guest.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
He goes, I'll be joining you guys. You know what
I mean.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
But they do this sometimes sometimes on the Idol shows,
like the coach they come in for a performance.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
You know, it's just like when the coach is like, okay,
I want to name the team.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Starting line up myself. That was my dad, Like you bro.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
My dad goes, okay, guys, we're gonna see you, but
I'll be joining you guys.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
But I understand this right, So you know, all of
your kids, all of no your your dad's all of
his grandkids. This is what it was for performing at
the church. You know, all the poms getting up there
singing together.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
It was a big moment for him.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
He was meant to have them all, you know, trying
to learn instruments, picking a lead singer, practicing over the
school holidays, and what happened? They didn't even do any
of that. So I'm not surprised that your dad had
to get up because not gonna lie or your kids
say Seleck Dolph and decided to do ping pong tournament
the entire school holidays. So my dad said to me,
(14:53):
I gotta bring out the guns man. He said, you
know what's missing, you guys are missing bass. So I
want to sing bass for you guys today. I'm like, okay,
Dad'll get yeah. And this is how it sounded like, okay.
(15:19):
You can hear the difference between your dad and I'm like, okay,
is it not like, you know, seeing them all getting
up even though they put a no practice thankfully naturally talented,
But you know, was it quite sweet seeing it was?
Speaker 3 (15:33):
It was your kids with your dad. So this is.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
My my dad and the kids practicing at home before
the big the big night. And then when we got
to church, it was quite like a heartfelt moment where
my dad got up there with his morcos in.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
The basis went from.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
He just starts crying, I starts crying and I'm like, right, okay,
then you know I wanted to film this, but.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
In the moment would have been weird and some things
don't have to be on camera. And that's how I
know it must have been heartfelt, because you record everything.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
I know.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
And I said to my kids, you know what, man,
if my dad ever passes away, and that time will come,
you know what I mean, Like we all got to
pass away at some point. This is a memory that
my kids can talk about. You know. They got to
sing all my dad and you know it's beautiful.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
I mean, and here's the reason for them, you know
when you really think about it.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
But you don't do that again.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
All right, then if you wanted a basement, just tell
me again.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
I was in the crowd.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
I was there.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Call me up. Woo woo.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Watched Doctor Stace's back. Stace has been helping Zorah unpack
some of her crazy dreams. Would be very oppressed what
Stace skips from the dreams. None of us could have
thought of what she says, and one of our listeners,
Hither actually reached out and asked Stace her advice or
what the dream that she has just had means.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
She's back our resident, we will dream doctor Stacey Morrison
because we realized she's got a talent.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
So he's got the talent man, And you know, this
is what I love about when we explain the dream.
So she takes a deep dive in and we look
at each o. Bro, that's it, Stacey.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
Can pull apart and analyze dreams. And you did such
a good job of doing it to my dream Stacy
that someone actually ticks it in and saying, has Stacy
ever thought of having a dream analysis segment on Flavor
because I would love to let you know about a
dream I had. I need clarity then from here that
(17:41):
is here, And then she went on to say, I
had a dream last night my partner and I were
in a bomb.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Squad and we were working together. Besties.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Anyway, turns out he was an undercover suicide bomber and
I had to shoot him. But he said he was
sorry to me before he died.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Dot dot.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
The plots of dreams are sometimes a little bit out
of whack. So if he's a suicide bomber, but she
had to shoot him, then he didn't get to do
his mission of a suicide bomb because she shot him.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
You know, what I mean.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
Yeah, so some of the plot is not great, but
what this is about, I would say, is that they've
had an argument and ultimately this is about her being
right and him apologizing to her at the end. Blowing
up a situation literally is key because they are talking
about you know, they're on a bomb squad together, and
(18:34):
then she finds out something about him and he admits
I was wrong. That's him apologizing to her as she
feels good about obviously and has come out in her dream.
She's like, they had a blow up. He admits he
was wrong. She had to shoot him down, and he goes, yes,
I apologize. So she's affirming to herself I knew I
(18:55):
was right.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
So clap. I make this up. You really can't make
this up.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
This is a really short one, and it's all I
remember from mine this morning.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
Oh so you had this stream last night. Yes, I
don't know about this. By the way, this's all new information.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Yes it is.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
I had this really strange dream that I was getting
ready for Halloween, which I'm not going to participate in,
but I'm trying to organize my outfit and I was
really last minute and I was sort of stressed out
and I had my friends there trying to help work
with me, to try and get me an outfit sorted,
(19:32):
and I ended up weirdly. Now I'm at work, and
I don't know if you guys remember we got a
delivery from McDonald's yesterday and there was helium balloons. And
then we were all like, oh, perfect, I'll be isn't
there a character from like It? Oh yeah, you know,
the clown one with the balloon that's up in the air.
And I was like, sweet, not, I'll be the little
kid that gets.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Taken onto the I hate those sort of movies.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
But we're like great, awesome, And then I woke up
like right when the costume was out, and I got
the balloon from the office.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
Well, for one thing, it's always better to sheer dreams
that are actually interesting. That's not a very interesting dream.
I'd have to say.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
It's all over the place.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
But what it is is a slightly anxious dream because
you went out last night. You knew you pushed it
out a little bit much. You got home at midnight,
and your friends are always there trying to help you
to get ready for work.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Get yourself organized.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
You feel like you've got to plan things are on
the up like a balloon.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
But you go, no, it's all a.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
Bit missy and I haven't got it together.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Oh my god, you're going out before the show again.
I really want to talk about my dream. I think
that's something for off the record.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Yeah, I think it is.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
And if you guys haven't listened to Off the Record,
well we take the things. We we can't talk about
it here.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
I want to talk about my dream on Okay breakfastus.
What you search up on iHeart Radio stays a Zorah
and Arlie.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Giving someone special their flowers doesn't happen very often. I'm
sure most of you may have seen that viral video
going around where Adele was acknowledging Celendon at one of
her performances. It's very Adele ends up in tears and
gives her a big hug and then has seen making
(21:21):
a special shout out to her. From this, the team
decided they wanted to actually take some time to have
a special shout out to the person that has had
that influence on their lives. And I'm just giving you awarding.
There may be some tears.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
The other night, you know, I had a bit of
a moment scrolling on Internet, But what's new at around
ten o'clock, somebody just needs to take my phone off
me because I found myself almost in tears when I
was watching Adele. Right, she was at a concert like
it's one of a Residents gigs and Residency gigs in
Las Vegas, and somebody told her that Celendion was in
(22:00):
the crowd. So she got off stage and was walking
through the crowd looking for Celendia, and you could literally
see her talking to her security like.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Where is she? Where is she?
Speaker 1 (22:09):
But it was the moment when she finally found Celendion,
my heart like was torn into pieces.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
And she's trying to sing to Celendia, I know, crying too.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Much, and then you have to see it to be feared.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
I know how they both cry and hold each other's
faces obviously in a lot of mutual respect.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
I cried, I honestly, I almost I almost cried, but
like thankfully Noah was like, you know, sitting on my
head and likely just being like annoying, but this is
my four year old boy, just been annoying.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
But like it's the way they embrace each other, you
know what I mean? Oh, you mean a lot to me, Yeah,
you know.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
And that was the beautiful thing is Adele and that
moment was able to give Celendi on her flowers. She
was able to say, Wow, you've inspired me, you've motivated me,
You've had an effect on my life.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
Where you don't know they said that, but that was
the Yeah, that's the vibe by God anyways.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
But that's that's what I think we should do now,
you know, because it's not often you really sit there
and go, you know what, this person kind of played
a part and changing my life.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
So who would you give your flowers to?
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Okay, I'll put myself in that situation, like similar to Adele.
I'm at a concert, okay, and then I find out
one of my idols, one somebody who's inspired me, somebody
who shaped my music career, you know that is in
the crowd, and that person will be Fiji George ve
Gooso to be honest, and I've always looked up to
(23:38):
this man because like growing up, we grew up to
his music. And then, you know, I'm grateful that I've
actually got the had the opportunity to work alongside him
and perform with them. But he's at a stage where
he sort of just sits back and sees all the
Polynesian artists do their thing.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
But you know, he paved the way for a lot
of us.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
And you know we've stilled on some pretty big shoulders,
including his, and I'm still making my way up there.
But if he was ever in my crowd, he would
be the person nice I would have my Adele and
Celindion moment, you know with you know your eyes.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Are glazing over talking about it, right, because I love
blazing tearing up to I love this man.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Honestly, he's a He's a giving man. You know, he's
like just doesn't really think about himself. Do you know
what I'm saying? All his music, he's a godfather.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
It's beautiful.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
I would if I was on stage and I would
have to give my flowers to my nan Because my
Nana for me when I moved into her house at sixteen,
she was the first person in my life that had
given me stability and normality, which, let me tell you, I.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Was not used to.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
I felt very uncomfortable in that house for the first
six months, but once I adjusted, I just felt like
no one. Reflecting on it now, I'm like, wow, no one,
no one had done that for me ever, so it
would always be my name, and she knows that.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
I mean, she's so.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
It is amazing and you're amazing Toozarah.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
I love your relationship with your name.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
For me, I've done this, and I've done this in
public with Hannah more He Dame Henah. Well, yeah, we'll
just like talking about things that she's done. So I've
had opportunities to talk about how she sang the anthem
and Maudi anyone you know, lost it and then that
it ended up becoming I think, where we sing anthem
in both languages. But also before that, when her daughter
Hannett Octodi was born and she had fifteen minutes, she
(25:35):
was starved at oxygen in the birth canal, so she
was born with a lot of challenges. So, you know
my and then Hanowe, he had breast cancer. So the
times I've talked about this, you know, publicly, and I've cried,
cried because I just have so much respect for her,
ingratitude for who she's been in my life as well.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
But yeah, then we end up laughing each other. Girl,
shut up, I just look a fisted trying to talk
this interview about you.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
Well, you did actually do that at the Hocker World
Record He's standing right next to her, and it was
emotional and it's beautiful and I'm so glad that you
know she.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Did that too. See this woman.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Another week, another hip hop mystery, which I've said before,
not only is Stace teaching your the or two, but
she's also teaching us quite a bit, especially me be
the youngest and the team. This week, Stace dived into
a girl group called ISIS, which were only around for
a few years back in the early two thousands, and
(26:33):
she has a look at what they're doing now hip.
Speaker 6 (26:36):
Hop and.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
Today's hip hop mystery is checking in with a group
you may have forgotten about. American R and B girl
group whose name stood for Intelligent Sexy Young Soul Sisters,
otherwise known as ISIS tripped.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
This Day and Night.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
It charted in the Hot one hundreds in two thousand
and two from their debut album ended up being their
only album, The Way We Do That featured Jada Kiss
as well, and today we will look at one of
their songs, single for the Rest of My Life. They
also had a feature on a Mark Morrison track, Time
to Creep.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Ques Night Home Again.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
The original members consisted of Letitia Harrison, Adena Clark quee Que,
Davis Martin, and Lemiah Good, who's actually the older sister
of the actress Megan Good as well. So they get together.
They have auditions that they know each other through high school,
and then La Reid signs them. They had a couple
of options and they released these songs. Those went well.
(27:48):
They were nominated for two Soule Trained Lady of Soul Awards.
They won one. They were the spokesperson for their haircare
products Got to Be So Smooth, But then they were
dropped from Arista Records during the production of their second album.
As Kiki said, they tried to stay together.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Once you know, it was over.
Speaker 8 (28:06):
I was kind of like, you know, what am I
supposed to do now? You know, So it definitely was
discouraging at first to you know, try to figure out.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
What the next move was, like, you know.
Speaker 8 (28:16):
So in the group, actually we tried to stay together
and we tried to you know, work it out, but
it still wasn't the same because one of the members,
you know, she had left politics, so it just wasn't
the same. We decided to just all go our separate ways.
But we're actually all still really really good friends.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
But Adina Klek, whose she just mentioned, got married in
twenty eleven, became a published author and she writes for
La Sentinel as well. Also, Letitia Harrison is a key
giver for the disabled and elderly, and Keiki Davis Martin
had a bit of a solo music career, but Lamayah
Good is the one that you may have seen in
(28:54):
acting roles like Kingdom Business.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Shall remember to keep the Sabbath day holy.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
You're tripping, this is, guys, because real Gospall wouldn't make
you want to grab your boyfriend both midday on a.
Speaker 5 (29:07):
Cool Okay, so this is not tripping because you remember
from two thousand and to a great track from isis
single for the Rest of My Life And that is
your hip hop mystery because if you don't know, now
you know.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
And that's a wrap for another week of producer picks.
