(00:01):
Your opinions are welcome to here fiftyfive KRC, the talk station. All
right back at it we go thirtythree minutes after the top of the hour,
and we've had a lot of greatquestions today. Certainly appreciate it.
Now we're going to re huddle upbecause an area that I talk about often
is the garage and the garage floorand keeping it sealed, but not only

(00:24):
that, taking the next step upand maybe well making it look a little
nicer a coating over that floor. And of course my go to guy,
Peter Diche and Dice Coatings, hasgot the answer and he's got the products.
And Peter, welcome again that homewith Gary Salvan. How you doing.

(00:44):
I'm doing great. Good morning Gary. You didn't know we were going
to talk today, didn't you.I actually wasn't quite quite sure, but
it's always a pleasant surprise here onthe other end of the phone. Well,
you know, I got this sheetthat says that geese. We just
had Peter on and we talked aboutit. But that's cool because you got
a brand new product and it bearsrepeating, and it's the die Hard Max

(01:07):
Industrial Strength a POxy floor coating kit. So yes sir saying all that.
I think the last time I talkedto I always said, man, I've
always been a knock knocking a POxyfloor finishes and and and because they didn't
hold up. But yours is anindustrial strength. Tell me why this one?

(01:29):
And I'm not trying to knock theother ones, but the other ones
have got a lifespan really, inmy opinion, about four to five years.
And tell me about yours. Anduh, you know what makes this
superior? Because it certainly is.Well, you're right, I mean,
there are other kinds that are thatare pretty good. But you know,
one of the downfalls there is thatas a water based material, they just

(01:55):
don't have the same kind of fortificationbuilt within the form. And you know,
generally, if you want to putsomething down, you want it to
go down, You want it tolast. You don't want to have to
be touching it up all the time, and you know, you want it
to stand up to not just youknow, your vehicle, but maybe even
in some heavier duty instances like forinstance, if there's a factory floor or

(02:21):
a commercial warehouse or anything. Imean, the fact is if it can
stand up there, it's going toserve you beautifully well at your home and
you can park your vehicles on it. You don't need to worry about hot
tire pickup or any of those things. Just wash the floor and it always
looks good and it serves you andit doesn't get attacked by chemicals and things
like that. What inspired you tocreate a better mouse trap? I mean,

(02:46):
had you used the other ones orI have I have in the past,
and you are right, they dohave a certain lifespan, and that
lifespan will be cut short yet furtherif you weren't one hundred percent careful really
as far as cleaning that surface. And the thing about those other ones is,
you know, being water based materials, they tend to go on very

(03:07):
thin and they don't have a lotof skin in the game, so to
speak. Any sort of you know, abuse that you give it is going
to make it wear down that muchquicker. In our opinion, if it's
something that our clients use on theirfactory floor, it's darn well going to
do the job in your garage orin your workshop. And that's the idea.

(03:30):
And you bring up a good pointwhen you said even in a workshop,
there's probably numerous places you could usethe diehard max. I mean,
how about a laundry room, absolutelylaundry room, even basement floors. You
know, maybe you've got an airin your basement that you want, or
maybe somewhere where where your dogs liketo play, and you know, dogs

(03:53):
have nails, and it's just atough, hardwaring surface. It's got a
nice gloss to it and it generallyalways looks good. And if you drop
any oil on it in your garageor you know, break fluid or transmission
fluid or you know, you're good. You're good. Yeah. The basic

(04:14):
color white and beige or gray andbeige, I think you are probably the
two most prominent colors they are,and and between them gray by far the
most. But yeah, we weuh, you know, we know.
It's an instant fix. All youreally need to do is get your floor
clean first, make sure it's dry, put this on, and you are

(04:35):
good to go for lots of years. One of the things I used to
say about the different other epoxy floorfinished out, there's maybe they didn't wear
out they ugly out. For instance, they did, they just kind of
uglied out. It wasn't always dird. Can I use that? I use

(04:55):
it you may, you may,you may use that share, but you
know, when somebody pulls in.You mentioned hot tire pickup, that's super
super important because those as tires getreally hot. They've been on the expressway,
they sit on there's like putting aniron on there. But you know,
if it's hot tire pickup, atleast you're not going to pull the
paint off. And then some allowthe paint to be pulled off. That's

(05:19):
bad. That's not ugly and owtugly. And now is when you pull
in and you got the tire marksyou can see on the finish, it's
almost like a rubber burn mark onit, and yours will not do that.
That's right. I mean, youknow, when you've got the mars,
the scuffs, the things that don'twant to come out, that won't

(05:40):
wash out, you've got a bitof a problem. And the other thing
is that the die Hard max epoxykit, even if you've got some some
you know, superficial sort of cracksin the floor that would otherwise transmit through
this is thick enough that it willfill a lot of those little things and
help to level out the overall surfacefinish and the appearance of the surface,

(06:03):
So what you're really putting down ishard sort of an armor plate on that
floor, and once you've got itdown, you're good. We talked about
prep being the key, it's timeto talk a little bit about the die
hard max application kind of walk methrough the project. Cleaning is probably number

(06:26):
one the first thing we do.Correct it is so basically depending on who
you are, you may have adifferent methodology, but for most of us,
it's just give that garage floor agood pressure wash, get the dirt
out of there, get the oilstains out of there. We also have
some excellent etching and cleaning materials forconcrete that will be very effective in terms

(06:50):
of getting rid of any oil stainsor things like that. But basically,
get your floor clean, let itdry for a day, and then apply
the material the next day. Andif you're a contractor and you're doing a
larger area, or maybe you justdo a lot of garage floors, you
might even wish to do a grindon the floor and you sort of remove

(07:11):
the surface derma of the concrete.Either way works, but the important thing
is that you want something with maximumbite that grabs very tenaciously, holds and
keeps on serving you. Yeah, use the word etch. Are we using
an acid like a maradic acid? You can some garage floors, depending on

(07:31):
how they're done, they're power traveled, and they tend to be very,
very smooth, almost as though they'vebeen polished. But at the same time,
this material grabs so tenaciously so wellthat in a lot of cases,
most cases you don't need to dothat. But what you do need is
you need a good clean floor. And we definitely spell all that out in

(07:54):
the instruction. Okay, and Iinterject sometimes when Peter's talking about grind,
a lot of people go, that'sprobably the easiest thing to use. You
can, and it is easy becauseI mean really, instead of trying to
wash away, you're literally removing it, getting rid of that offending stuff.

(08:15):
Yeah. Yeah, but you don'tneed to. You could just wash it,
right, But you know, itsounds like a big project, but
it's really not. I suggest thatto people a lot, especially if you
have a coating on there. Getthat thing off now, the diehard max,
the epoxy coating that's going to protectthe concrete too, right. I
mean, so many of us incold weather climates you got salt and different

(08:39):
chemicals. You're protecting that floor.Oh yeah, and that's that's an excellent
point. I mean, you knowthat's one of the reason why, you
know, you go into a lotof garage floors and they're all pitted.
That's because the salt falls down andsalt and concrete do not like each other,
right, and the salt will willpit that concrete, you know,
a lot, and you'll end upwith it really rough looking floor. You've

(09:01):
got this on there. It's ashield. It's it's it's an armor plate.
It'll it'll stop anything from attacking it. And you'll have something that really
on Friday it looks terrible. Mondaymorning, you know, you go to
open your garage and wow, youknow it's done and it's beautiful. It's
tough. Yeah, after we getit good and clean, then the application

(09:24):
is that. Is that with aroller or is it a squeegee like a
driveway sailor how's that applied? Yeah, and once again, it is very
very flexible, So most of usus the wires, we will just put
it on with a ten mil roller, lint free, and you just roll

(09:46):
on a nice uniform coat across thatfloor and you're good. Or if you're
a contractor and you're doing a largerarea, you could pour it onto the
floor. Uh, and then youcould move it around with with a with
a two spreader and then do aback roll, which and I know any
contractor who's hearing this right now knowsexactly what I'm talking about. So either

(10:09):
way is good. Either way isgood. Yeah, we talking about it
being in apoxy floor coating per se. This is a true epoxy, right,
I mean it's a two parter. You're mixing that up. Yes,
it's a true epoxy. It's onehundred percent solids, which means what you
see and the thickness that you seeis going to remain that once it's dry.

(10:31):
It's not like in a water basedsystem where when it dries, the
water leaves, it evaporates, andyou end up with something super super thin
on the floor that you know, may not stand up through the years or
even the months in some cases.Yeah, and folks, I'll tell you
what Peter just said, being youknow, a solid a liquid solid per
se that that's very very important. That screams durability because that coating isn't going

(10:58):
to quote dry, it's going tocure, right, exactly, it's going
to cure, it's going to harden, and you're going to have something that's
going to look like a million bucks. And then on top of that,
if you want an additional show roomy, look, we have a clearcoat that's
one hundred percent solids, two partthat you can put right over that the
next day after it's dry and reallybling up that floor, and you'll have

(11:22):
a double coat of that strength andit's just going to last and last and
last, and you're going to lovethe results. Sure. Now, we
talked about it being a kit,and I know you've got a summer sale
that's going on. It's ninety ninedollars. We'll tell you where to get
it, but tell me exactly what'sin that kit. Now, in that
kit you have all the you haveof course the A and the B.

(11:46):
You've got the flakes that are usedthat you might like to sprinkle over that
surface. Okay, there's a cleaningmaterial in there that you can use to
clean your floor, and it's basicallyall there. All you is a roller
handle and a ten mil roller andyou're good to go a little bit of
time. How much coverage you getout of one of the kids roughly two

(12:09):
hundred and fifty square feet. Ohso you'll do a single car garage with
the one kit. Yeah, allright, And where do we get the
Diehardmax. You can get Diehard Maxthrough Home Depot. You can also get
it through Lows Online. You canalso get it at ditsch Codings dot com.
