(00:02):
Let your voice be heard. Idon't even know what to say other than
I can't believe this and this ismind blowing your voice on fifty five KRC.
All right, well it's a timefor our project of the week.
I got a great project for youtoday. You hear me talk a lot
about a company called Dische Codings. We've talked about different countertop refinishing kits.
(00:27):
We've talked about patching concrete with rockpatch, and you know, I'm a
fan of some of these really innovativeproducts. So joining us now is Peter
Diche, the man behind disch Codings, because we've got a new product to
talk about. And Peter, welcomeagain that home with Gary Salvin. How
(00:48):
you doing? Hey, good morningGary. How are you doing. I'm
doing wonderful. The mad scientist hasbeen back at work, I hear positively.
Mad. Yes, back to thelaboratory. Yes, yes, sir,
we even I've been telling everybody, you know, really what great products
(01:11):
you have, Peter, in allhonesty, and you know, I think
it started out, it seems tome, with the Spreadstone countertop kit,
and then you went to the LuxeRocks, which is gorgeous, looks just
like granted, and I'll let youmake the announcement because you've got a new
product that looks for countertops. Also, yes, Gary, absolutely, the
(01:37):
new product is called the Marble DreamResurfacing Kit. So basically what that is
is it's an actual Marble coding thatyou apply over your existing construction. So
whether you have a laminate countertop orplywood or whatever your countertop is made of
or is in the process of beingmade of, you can apply this over
(02:01):
it and get the very very authenticlook of Marble. And you know,
it's easy to apply and you'll berather shocked that's the results and how it
looks and how easy it is todo. Yeah, I told people that
they should get on your website atDice Codings dot com and take a look.
(02:22):
You got, you know, allkinds of great information there. You
can see pictures of it. AndPeter, to be honest with you,
I think one of the you know, I mean, it's tremendous. It
lasts for a long long time andI'm talking fifteen years, you know,
I've learned that from you. Butthe beauty of the product, and it's
(02:42):
a beautiful product. The beauty ofthese products is these are easily applied.
You don't have to be an artistto do this. But before we get
into the application, can you describewhat marble dream looks like? And I
guess you could say marble, butyou know, is it coming to a
couple of colors or where we aton that? Yes, So basically there
(03:07):
are two kits right now. Oneis a black color it's called Cosmos black,
and the other one is Christine white. And basically with those two kits
you can get just the kind ofmarble that you like. So if you
have always preferred a nice, soft, smoky vein that's in the marble that's
(03:34):
subtle and diffuse, you can dothat. But you can also do you
know, a sharp, defined veinthat you would find in marble. And
the truth of the matter is thatmarble has so many different looks. So
whatever stereotypical idea you have of howmarble should look, it looks like that,
(03:55):
But it looks like dozens of otherthings too, And that's where your
own creativity can come in if youwish. But for a very attractive,
very marble appearance that looks just likethe real thing, you can do that.
And then from there, if youwant to get fancy and put different
(04:18):
kinds of veins in or whatever. We give you guidance at the front end.
If you feel like going down thatroad, it's super easy to do.
But the whole idea here is thatif we made it difficult, you
know, barely anyone would really wantto use it. And we want to
ensure that if anyone uses the product, they're going to get a result that
they're going to love and that they'regoing to be proud to go to everyone
(04:41):
that they know. So the MarbleDream it comes in a kit like your
other products come in. It coversforty square feet and can you take us
through the process of since it's ina kid, Step one, I guess
is too saying the existing surface, because preparation is always the key, it
truly is. So basically, you'regoing to make sure that that surface is
(05:02):
clean, and then you're going tostuff the surface with the sand paper that's
in the kit. It's actually astanding sponge of storks, and you don't
need to scratch it, but youare scuffing it, even at a very
microscopic level. You are scratching it, and you make your clean and then
(05:23):
you go ahead and you're going toroll on two coasts of marble, and
what's the basis of that? What'sthe base of that? Pre I mean,
I don need chemistry lesson, butI mean when you say you roll
on the marble, everybody's like, how do we roll marble? Marble's a
slagh Tell me the consistency of that. We it's basically almost like a paint,
(05:48):
I guess, but it's it's athick sort of paint and it's all
it's It's basically a loaded stone polymermaterial that you roll on. So it's
made to go on nice and flat, and it goes on smooth, but
it gives you that first coat ofthe marble and then it dries in roughly
(06:11):
half an hour, and then youwould put on a second pat. So
you want a nice solid coat ofmarble on your surface now. And is
there a roller cover involved in thatkit and everything or do you have to
use or anything like that? Goodquestion, Good question, Gary. Yes,
all the tools are in the kit. So basically you use the brush
(06:33):
to do fight edges. Maybe uh, you know along the top lip of
the backsplack part portion that may bepart of your countertop, okay, or
you know, in and round betweenfocets and things like that. But the
rest is just there's a roller ina tray in the kit as well,
and you would then apply your twocoats of the marble basically thirty minutes apart.
(06:57):
Do I need to say the thingonly if you feel that you put
it on, you know, withwith a bunch of texture. But it's
it's generally engineered to go on quitenicely and quite smoothly, right, But
if you feel you need to justrefine anything, you just give it a
light quick stand for a couple ofseconds and you're good to go. So,
(07:23):
wow, this is even faster thanthe others. It actually is.
I mean it's really a two dayprocess. You do basically everything today and
finish it tomorrow, so you canstart it on Saturday morning and you're done
by Sunday at lunch time. That'swhat I was going to say, Sunday
at lunch. So we got twocoats and that's like a for the Cosmos
(07:46):
black colors. That is it likea flat black just two coats of that.
That can't take long. No,it really doesn't take long at all.
It's super quick. So you're talkingmaybe you know all together in terms
of labor time all together with thetwo coats for forty square feet maybe an
hour. Yeah, so you dothat and it drives quick. And then
(08:11):
you would go ahead and at thatpoint you would add in the decorative veining.
Okay, and there's a couple ofpools in there for that, and
you can choose either to have asI say, soft subtle veining effects in
there that look like that kind ofmarble, more like a Carrara marble,
(08:33):
or you can decide to do aSTARp sean very defined set of veins.
And we actually even include a littlebit of talk in the kit. So
if you have the white kit, you're going to get some great shocks.
If you get the black kit, you're going to get some white shocks.
And what you're going to do isyou're going to draw out on the surface
(08:56):
where you want your veins to be, and then you can stand back and
you can look at it and say, Okay, this is the way I
picked it. You know, Ilike where the veins would be. It's
not too busy, it's just theway I like it. So now that
you've got that down, you thentake the veining materials, which are in
there and you put them down basedon the instructions, so you can either
(09:18):
use a sponge that's involved, oryou can use a sharp vein applicator.
Everything's in the kit and you're goingto be surprised at how simple this is
to apply and how quickly it looksvery real and you put that on and
when you're done, that will bedry in fifteen twenty minutes maybe half an
(09:41):
hour so and then yep, goahead. So I'm just thinking Gary as
I'm doing that, it's like, gosh, I've never done anything like that.
I don't know how much of anartist I am. Peter says,
it's kind of simple. Would youencourage people to get a piece of I
(10:03):
don't know, cardboard and practice avein or two before you did that,
or is it really that simple exactlyin the instruction, Yes, so you
definitely can try it on something first, Okay, but the way this has
been put together and the methodology isextremely forgiving, so yes, you can
(10:28):
try doing it first, but onceyou put the vein on, you're going
to be then covering it with anothercode of marble afterwards, and that code
of marble is going to encase thevein in the finis gotcha. It will
really give it a very deep, very natural look. So whatever you do,
(10:50):
you know, is probably going tolook stunning. And we make sure
that based on the instruction video andyou know, the written instructions and the
schools that are there, we've alreadythought all this through because we know that
if you're going to stand there andyou're going to struggle and you're going to
get a look that you know doesn'tmake you happy, well, then we
haven't done our jobs. So we'vedone all of that thinking ahead of time,
(11:13):
and we said, let's make thisas you know, forgiving as possible,
sure, and let's make it easy. And we did, and I
can, I can you know, stand here all day long and I can
say, you know, you canget an extremely authentic result and you don't
have to have any artistic skill.Just draw your draw your lines where they
need to go first, right andpractice it. But you're going to find
(11:37):
its super easy to do well. And I think it's it's all about confidence
to Peter. And I'm sure ifthey go to your website dice Codings dot
com is d A I C.H coatings dot com, You've been really
good about having some extremely informative videoson there where people can watch it and
they can quickly decide, oh man, that's it. You know, I
(12:01):
got that, you know, andyou know, so having that confidence and
you having all the instructions and havingall the tools, it's it sounds like
you got another winner there. Well, what's the cost on something? It's
forty square feet to a kit,and yeah, what's the what's the cost
(12:22):
on that? It's it's one sixtynine and actually between now and uh basically
Christmas, Uh, it's going tobe thirty dollars off. So it's one
thirty nine until until the end ofthe year as an introductory special. Sure.
(12:43):
And I tell you, in termsof confidence scaring, we actually set
up tables at our factory and wehad you know, ten of our employees
that basically said, okay, hereyou go watch the video. Let's all
watch the video. They watched it, and we said, okay, here's
your kit, go ahead and doit. Let's see what you can do.
(13:05):
And I can tell you all tenof them were completely shocked. They
were blown away at what they wereable to achieve. And that was part
of our testing. We said, well, we know it's easy, but
let's make sure that everyone else agreed. And they all did it, and
they all had different levels of skill, and boy it was it was really
great to see. Did they alllook different too? I mean you said
(13:26):
you could kind of incorporate your personalityinto some of these if creativity wise,
they did someone yeah, I meansomeone act. You know, a couple
of people decided they really wanted thesharp veins, the de find veins,
so they did that and it looksgreat. We had some folks that had
a combination. They'd have sort ofa soft SMOLTI veining in the background that
(13:50):
set into the surface, and thenthey put some veins over that and that
looked amazing and had yet another levelof depth. And you know, one
then put on the final marble coatsand it just looks, it looks great.
And that pulled us right there thateverything that we thought was in box
(14:11):
the cake, that this is easyand it was something you could do.
And let's face it, not everybodywants the look of a granite necessarily.
Maybe you want that airy saw,you know, soft appearance of a marble
instead of something with a speckled graniteappearance. So this really comes to the
table and gives us that, Peter, let's take a break. Let me
hold you for about ten minutes, because I do want to tell everybody where
(14:35):
to get it, how to getit. And also let's just cover a
couple of those other countertop kits.So if you got ten minutes for me,
we'll take a break for you allday. Gary, sit tight,
my friend. We'll give back toyou in a second. Here we'll continue
with Peter. Dich and Dice coatingis a brand new product Marble Dream And

(17:32):
joining me today Peter Dice from DiceCotings talking about a brand new product for
your countertops, kitchen or bathroom,Marble Dream. It's a resurfacing kit.
And uh, Peter, where dowe buy the Marble Dream resurfacing kit?
Is that it your website? Itis? It's on our website at dice
(17:55):
Coding dot com and in it's ashort amount of time. I think we're
talking in a couple of weeks. It's also going to be available through the
home depot and loads. Okay,And again that's one hundred and thirty nine
dollars through the end of this year, right right, one hundred and thirty
(18:17):
nine until the end of the year. And it's your easiest, quickest way
to get an authentic marble surface thatyou can you know, love for a
lot of years. And you know, we're we're very confident you'll have a
very nice result with this kip.Yeah, So we talked about putting in
the veining in the and the subcolors, the two coats of that. Is
(18:38):
there any clear finish thats applied tothat or is it ready to go?
No, No, there's definitely aclear finish. And so basically the next
day, after you've done all ofyour decorative magic and you've created your marble
surface, it will be cured andat that point you will be putting on
a couple coats of a protective clearcoatthat goes over top. Now, not
(19:03):
only is this something that that addsa nice balance scheme to the surface and
finishes off that look. But ofcourse the other thing is unlike natural marble,
which some of your listeners may knowes, it's very prone. Sustaining
natural marble is absolutely and you've gotto be careful with that. Oh boy,
(19:25):
I tell you. But this, with this defective clearcoat over top,
it will complete it. It willmake it extremely stained resistant. It'll make
it resistant against heat and water andyou know all of that stuff, impact
and just daily use. Peter. One other thing I'm always talking about,
(19:47):
you're good. I'm always talking aboutcountertops, and you know, the laminate
countertops. If I had a niceround oak kitchen table that was thirty years
old and kind of seen better days, could I put the Marble dream on
that? Absolutely, And that's afantastic question. You can use it on
(20:07):
your old kitchen table. You canuse it on a dining room table,
boardroom table, coffee table, bartopanything. You can even put it on
your backsplash if you want to continuethe look of marble on your backsplack and
you want it to match what you'vealready got. Now on your new counter
talk, you can do that too. You can use it almost anywhere that
(20:29):
you've got to solid existing surface. And that's much of the beauty of the
kid is that you're not having toconstruct anything or put in slabs or anything.
You just use the surface you've gotand literally, in a couple of
days you've got a completely new room. Right well, folks, it's a
dish daich Coodings dot Com. Theproduct we've been talking about is Marble Dream.
(20:53):
And also Peter has a product calledthe Original One really with spreadstone with
mineral Select. That's a countertop kit. You can take a look at that,
the lux Rock, which is agranite type countertop kit. So Peter,
you got the trifecta. Now yougot the Marble, the Mineral Select
(21:15):
and the granted countertop really, soyou know you got all the looks covered.

to me. Gary, thank you. I appreciate Hey, you have a
