Speaker 1 (00:31):
Well, it's the weekend.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Welcome at Home with Gary Salvin taking it through another weekend,
and thank you very much to Roto Ruter, who is
sponsoring this hour of that Home with Gary Salvin. It's
Roto Ruter Plumbing and water cleanup. You know, when it
comes to plumbing issues, if you're not comfortable with those repairs,
you can book an appointment right at roduter dot com.
(00:56):
If you're kind of comfortable with the repairs. There's lots
of videos on the website ruderuter dot com. All right,
so back to the funds we go. Our phone number,
by the way is eight hundred eight two three eight
two five five lines are open. Danny's in a chair
to take your call. And Eric, you're up.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Hey, Gary, love this show.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Hey.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah. I have got a porch on the north side
of my house. It's probably thirty forty years old. It's
a concrete block with us like a slaptop. And I'm sure,
like everybody faces up here, I'm in Ohio. It's almost
black every year because you know, there's no sun. Is there?
(01:45):
Is there any way I can anything kind of finish
I could put on it or something to make it
look nicer. And easier to clean.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Well, certainly things that can be applied to make it
look nicer, and it probably easier to clean too. Concrete
is hard, but it's also porous, so it absorbs moisture,
and the moisture stays on that concrete for a while.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
So if we can.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Minimize the amount of moisture it absorbs, the cleaner will stay. However,
molds and mildews are always in the air, so right,
you know, there's what have you used to clean it
in the past.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Just I mean I've tried, you know, wait and forget,
and I've tried to powerwasher.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
You know it.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
You know, every year it just comes right back. It
never really looks that great. I mean, I've had to
make repairs in the past because you know it is
older sporch, so of course those repairs all stick out,
you know, they never They're never going to match the concrete.
So I thought maybe if I could refinish the whole
thing with some sort of paint or or something, well,
(03:01):
it would make it look uniform.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
And maybe, yeah, you and about eighty five percent of
the homeowners have that issue. So there is a wide
wide range of things you can do. There really are
you know, it can go from cleaning that, you know,
power washing it, putting just a concrete resurfacing product on
(03:24):
top of that and then sealing it and that'll give
you kind of the look you have when it was new.
You could use a coating like the Dice coatings that
we talk about. They have one called roller Rock, they
have one called spread Rocks.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
They're pretty durable.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Oh, they're very durable. Yeah, they're very durable. I mean
you probably get ten to fifteen years out of it,
probably more on the fifteen side. Cold weather's not going
to bother. You can use a snowshovel on it.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Are they easy to walk on the winter?
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:03):
So yeah, So I'm gonna give you a couple of
their products. So it's Dish Codings, It's d A i C.
Ch Coatings dot com. They make one called roller Rock,
one called Spreadstone, one called Razo.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
And then they all have a little different look.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
And there's a clear ceilant that goes over called track Safe,
which makes it slip resistant. Okay, And it's a coating,
it's not a paint. It's very thick and they got
some great videos on their website. So if you're interested
in that, go to you know, dish coatings dot com.
(04:47):
Take a look at them. There are other products that
you could use. You could leave it like it is
and use a a masonry stain on it, which will
just that that might take.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
That might not take the same one the repairs as
the concrete. Huh.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
That will.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
You'll still see the repairs, but it will be uniform
in color. Now, in other words, it's not a coating,
it's a penetrate. Some people love it, some people don't
like it at all. So it looks very very natural.
It almost looked like a marbling look if you will.
And you could put the tracks safe over that, then
(05:33):
slip resistance.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
As well.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
If I can do the project myself, I prefer the
Dice coatings. If there's a lot of companies out there,
and I don't know, I think the Dice coatings, I'm
gonna guess it's probably around a buck and a half
two dollars a square foot. There's companies around that have
polyureas coatings that are around seven bucks of square foot
(06:02):
five to seven bucks of square foot. If it's something
you want to have done for you, I would look
at something like that.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
I preferred it myself I mean, ye, all righty.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Handy, then you get it that dis codes. It's an
easy product to use. They sponsored the show in half
for probably twelve years, and I found them before they
found me.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
It's good stuff, okay, they said, roller rock and what
was the other two.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
That you spread stone and torrezo. You can actually make
it look like toresso tile. That's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
They're all pretty durable. Huh.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
They're very durable, very durable.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Okay, okay, Yeah, it's something that I like to do
one time, not to worry about it for a while.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
That's exactly right. Yeah, no, it'll it'll dress it up
very nice. For the price, I can't bet it.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Well. I will definitely check it out, and I appreciate
the information.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
You're quite welcome.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Thanks, take care all right, Elizabeth.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Welcome, Oh, thank you so much. I wanted to add
a little more thoughts to the tankless water heater. I
really wanted one. My heater went out this year and
I had to quickly decide what to do. And when
they came over to give me an estimate, they said
(07:25):
that the tankless one, I had to drain it every year.
It was important. Well, because of my excuse is my
age in capability now. Five years ago, I would have
done it in a heartbeat, but I can't do it today.
So I've been relying on my children to do it
(07:47):
for me because well, I don't know how dirty my
water is and if it plugged it up and they
said that you had to do it no questions.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Well, I know for a fact that I don't know
if you were looking at the brand name Renee. At
one time, they even had to uh, you had to
definitely do it once a year, and you had to
have a certified you know, plumber on Rene water heaters
do it, and I think they've taken that away, but yeah,
they still recommend once a year.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
Yeah, well that stopped me, but I wanted to say
that energy and it just and I'm still mad about it.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Fun Well, I'll yeah, I understand, but I also you know,
one of the interesting things is they make that recommendation
on tank list because it supercharges superheats the water, so
the hard water deposits form rapidly and easier. However, if
you read the Manuana tank type water heater, it'll tell
(08:58):
you to drain it once a year.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Also, Oh no, I understand that. Yeah, but I have
never done it, and I've had my last one for
over twenty years.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah, well, I understand.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Why I could have asked my children to do it
every two years, but every year, No, they've got their
own problems and not just babysitting me, right.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Right, Well, well, then you made the right choice for
your lifestyle. I mean, you know, we can't sometimes always
get exactly what we want. I have talked to a
lot of different manufacturers of these water heaters over the
course of years, and the one thing I do here,
quite honestly, is the importance of maintenance. But then on
(09:45):
a sidebar, many of them will also say, and I'm
not giving you permission not to do it, but a
lot will say it really comes down to how much
hardness you have in your water.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
So maybe the way to do is.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Just to will hardness test first, because you know, if
you didn't have real hard water, you may have been
able to get by maybe every other year, but certainly
recommended to do that every year. And that was one
of the things in my comparison pros and cons I
talked about that you know, your maintenance cost will will
(10:24):
be higher or your maintenance uh involvement will be more Also,

Sullivan and taking your calls regarding your home projects.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Let's go to Brent. Brent, Welcome, good morning, Gary Mordon.
Speaker 8 (13:30):
I wanted to just call in to give you a
report on a project that I completed. All right, we
had a a few years ago. We bought a home
that had a basically a thirty year old exposed aggregate
walk walkway out front. It's about forty feet long. My
(13:55):
wife and I contemplated just hiring somebody to replace the
whole thing because it was pretty pretty worn. But I
called you the spring, and you encouraged me to at
least consider a do it yourself project, and uh I
went ahead and uh attacked it myself. And uh so
(14:19):
step one was digging out some rotten wooden separators between
the eight slabs of the walk. I used a foam backer,
pham back of rods and some where were they I
had to dig out the whole the whole wood separator.
(14:40):
I used quick crete self leveling Equilic to fill in
the gaps or great. I had a chunk of the
the walkway right at where they met the driveway that
needed some patching, so I used to adapt pre mixed
(15:02):
concrete patch Those all worked great, but they were all
kind of gray, which really didn't match the the the
walkway very well. So I got a Sherwin Williams. I
got a Sherwin Williams porch paint that kind of blended
in the uh in those gray tones, and that worked great.
(15:28):
And then finally finished up with a stint concrete ceiler
from Well Masonry Defender. I used the cleaner with the
powerwash to clean everything, use the stamp concrete ceiler with
an anti slip additive, and the result, the result has
(15:49):
been awesome.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
That's all I hear that. Yeah, that Masonry Defender cleaner.
That's a very high grade of oxygenated bleach.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
It's good stuff.
Speaker 8 (16:00):
Oh yeah, Well, I mean the walk looks brand new,
and that's awesome, really great.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
So super has.
Speaker 8 (16:08):
Always appreciate your guidance, and I just wanted to report that,
uh project, I didn't think I could handle worked out
great well.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Thank you very much, Bruent. I appreciate it. Thank you, sir,
and Mike.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Welcome.
Speaker 7 (16:25):
Hi Gary.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Yes, sir, I love your program.
Speaker 9 (16:29):
You are just one awesome individual that provides a great
service to the public of northeastern Ohio. I just love
to listen to you. You're just awesome.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Well, thank you.
Speaker 9 (16:43):
So my question is we've been having some estimates on
replacing our old patio window door.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
It's two it's two pieces of.
Speaker 9 (16:55):
Glass that are fixed, and then you got the one
door that opens. The latest estimate I have is for
a vinyl replacement with the slim shade inside the glass.
And the contractor wants fifteen thousand, two hundred dollars to
(17:15):
do this job, and then we would need to replace
two double hung windows and one casement window. For each
double hung window he wants twenty four hundred, and for
the casement window he wants twenty three hundred. And for
(17:38):
the total installation of the patio window and the other
three windows, he wants fourteen hundred dollars.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
What do you think of this.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Price seems high, but everything to me seems high anymore.
But I will say this, Mike regardless of who the
window and door, whether it's a contractor whether it's a
company that does nothing but windows and doors. I I
tell people all the time, you know, get a couple
estimates seriously, and not only compare price, but compare what
(18:15):
you're getting in quality. I don't know exactly what type
of Doory selling, but it seems high. It obviously seems
high to you, or you wouldn't have called me, and
I'd get.
Speaker 8 (18:27):
You're the expert.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Yeah, you're you're the expert. I mean, I can tell
you who the the.
Speaker 9 (18:36):
Who the window person is, but I don't know if I'm.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
Allowed to do that over you can.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
But what I think I would do really is go
back to him and just.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Say see if it's negotiable at all, Mike.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
And you know, I mean, I may be the expert,
but I can tell you I get two or three quotes.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
When I'm doing things.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Also, and uh, you know, I mean, you know you're
top of the champions and Fellows and all that. Those
are expensive, high quality products. You get something like Jen
Weldon to have a contractor do it. It's not a
bad product, and it might be cheaper, it might be
(19:16):
significantly cheaper. Don't know, so take a little more homeworks
in store. We'll continue at home with Gary Sullivan.

(22:16):
the past ten years as we talk about a product
called gutter brush, and very very timely to do so today.
And Randy Schreiber, how in the world are you?
Speaker 10 (22:25):
I'm great, Gary, thanks again, great, great to be here.
Falls our favorite time of year, between the beautiful weather
and staying busy helping folks keep their gutters clean.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
So thank you very much for having us.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
You're quite welcome, boy. I'll tell you what. We've had
some beautiful weather too. You getting the change of the
colors of the leaves up in New England area.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
We are, Yeah, they've been falling.
Speaker 10 (22:48):
I think we've had a lot of dry weather up
this way, so we're seeing a lot of leaves falling.
The colors are changing already, and it'll be be in
full swing right before we know it.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
I'm sure.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
I'll tell you what. We've got a lot of leaf
drop from dry weather too. We haven't got really much
color yet, but I'll tell you, we got plenty of
leaf drop, so we got to keep those leaves. How
the gutters too. Hey, you've got a big promotion going on.
Let's talk about the promotion on the gutter brush because
I'm sure people have heard about it. We're going to
talk about it here in a second. But you've got
(23:20):
the best special going on right now that I've seen
it is.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Yeh, it's our biggest sale of the year.
Speaker 10 (23:26):
It's it's a big fall promotion that we're offering your
listeners of thirty percent off and free shipping when they
use the code Gary three zero on our on our
website of gutter brush dot com, or they can always
call us. But yeah, it's just a great time of year.
We want to help folks get the gutters protected before
those leaves fall and before the winter weather arrives. So
again it's it's thirty percent off and free shipping.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
You know that.
Speaker 10 (23:49):
That makes it very affordable. Most homes can be protected
for probably two to three hundred dollars, is what an average.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
That's a great deal. That's a great deal.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Sometimes it's just a matter of saying yesterday, I'm going
to do it, so I'm going to give everybody the
phone number two. It's eight eight eight three nine seven
ninety four thirty three. And that's a limited sale, correct,
I mean that's for a few days, it is.
Speaker 10 (24:12):
Yeah, we're gonna run it right through Tuesday, October seventh.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
I believe it is so so right now from today
through tuesday.
Speaker 10 (24:19):
If folks need any help with questions, we're always happy
to give them a hand, and we can even for
people that don't want to get out and measure gutters.
We actually are even able to take some satellite.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Measurements for folks that want, oh wow.
Speaker 10 (24:31):
Up determining how many feet of gutter they have. So
please feel free to give us a call or visit
the website and we can. We'll be happy to help
any way we can.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
You definitely make it easy.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
And you know, I start off today's show actually knowing
I was gonna have you on saying, you know, if
you don't do anything in your gutters, just make me
a promise. Come November tenth or fifth, you got to
clean those gutters. And if it's going to require a ladder,
and you're gonna get up and you're going to scoop
that gunk out of your gutter, and if you don't,
(25:02):
you will have problems.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Is that fair to say it is?
Speaker 4 (25:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (25:07):
If the gutters, I mean it's one of those things
where you'd be amazed. How much damage can you know
small overflow can cause when it comes to you wet basements,
foundation damage, you would rot. So if the gutters have
even a little bit of debris in them, and that
debris flows down to the down spout and clogs the
down spout and the gutters overflow, you're you're you're backing
(25:27):
water up into places it's not supposed to be and
causing all sorts of headaches and damage.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
You're right once the.
Speaker 10 (25:32):
Gutters are down if you can, If you don't have
gutter brush, you don't have a way to keep them
out of there. You blow them out or clean them
out before winter, because that's when things can get really messy.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Randy For people who maybe have not heard us talk
about the gut or brush, explain what it is and
the simplicity of installation.
Speaker 10 (25:53):
Yeah, it's just basically it's a simple cylinder shaped brush
that comes in three foot lengths. It's almost like a
big oversized bottle brush that that you slide right into
your gutter. Channel and create a big filter in your gutter.
So there are three foot sections you slide into your gutter,
filling them end to end, and there's no tools, no fasteners,
(26:14):
nothing screwed into your gutter. Nothing's interfering with your roofing shingles.
So it's just a very very simple alternative to some
of the screens and covers and other gutter guard solutions
that have been.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Around for a long time.
Speaker 10 (26:25):
But you basically fill your gutters with this big cylinder
shape brush. We've got six different diameters to protect just
about any any size gutter and channel that's out there,
and it creates a filter that it's very easy to
install and very easy to maintain.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
At some point, I guess any of these.
Speaker 10 (26:40):
Gutter systems are going to require maintenance from time to time.
And that's one of the things people really like about
gutter brush is Yeah, pull them out, shake them out,
and slide them back in.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
It's very very easy, right, It'll make that choor a
lot easier and you may not even have to use it.
I know on my whole house there's just one gutter.
I got to do that about maybe every other year
or every three years. A little shake and that's it.
The rest are still there and in position. And what
it does is the leaves and stuff that fall, they
(27:13):
just can't get into the gutter. They're laying on the
top of the bristles and then they blow off. No
problem with water getting down into the gutter like some
of the caps and screens that go over gutters.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Correct.
Speaker 10 (27:25):
Yeah, that's one of the problems we hear about the
other systems is there's a lot of options like a
gutter cover or a screen. And what typically happens when
you covered most of your gutters with a piece of
metal and you get a heavy rain, that water comes
down your roofline very quickly. A lot of the water
passes right over that gutter guard and comes off your roof.
(27:45):
Same with screens. As dirt and dust and pollen and
things like that are coming off your roof, that tends
to fill the cells and the screens and covers and
it creates kind of a mat that water can't get
into your gutter.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Right, So, folks, there's no tool. You don't have to
cut it. It folds into itself, no fasteners, don't have
to modify the roof. So it's an inexpensive effective and
easy way to protect the gutters. And it's got some
added benefits too. I know after after you had the
gutter brush for a while, you realized it really helped
(28:20):
with a reduction of ice dams.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Yeah, we did.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
It's funny.
Speaker 10 (28:24):
The first couple of years we were in business, we
started getting more and more reports from customers, especially in
northern climates with a lot of snow and ice, that
had faced problems with icicles and ice dams in the past,
And they told us that since they installed the brush,
brush is black in color, so when black gets exposed
to a little bit of sunlight or even even in
cold weather, it tends to warm up a little bit.
(28:45):
And we had a lot of people telling us that
they've had substantially less trouble with ice build up and
ice dams since they've installed it, So it's been a
great additional benefit.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
How about commercial buildings, Are they catching on metal buildings
and things like that because they have some of these
seven or eight inch gutters doing much business with buildings
like that.
Speaker 10 (29:07):
We are, Actually, that's one of our fastest growing areas
is on these you know, large commercial buildings, uh, you
know metal buildings. Pole barns, agricultural buildings, airplane hangars, there's
there's big you know, big gutter systems and and uh
on these commercial structures that that just don't have many
options to keep debris on. So we make the brushes
(29:27):
all the way up to seven and eight inches in
diameter to to fill and protect those larger gutter systems.
And we're having a lot of great feedback from commercial customers.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
You know, one of the things we talk about a
lot on this show of r Indya, especially in the
last couple of years, is pest control. Keeping squirrels, birds,
mosquitos and all that protected gutters really diminish those claims.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
They do.
Speaker 10 (29:54):
Yeah, they can they stop that standing water from building
up in gutters that can be breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
And we have a lot of customers that tell us
that that they don't have as much problem with leaves,
but they've got problems with birds that approaching or nesting
in their gutters or rodents that are that are finding
their way into those areas. And so a lot of
people use the brush just as a preventive measure measure
(30:15):
to keep critters and pests.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Out out of those areas.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I'm sure there's some place of the hoa's, you know,
where they're managing a bunch of condo buildings or something
like that, if they were to look into doing something
with gutter brush. Is there volume discounts available? I know
we got this deal going wrong right now for four
days the thirty percent off. But somebody's got a big project,
can they contact you and kind of discuss that.
Speaker 10 (30:41):
Absolutely, Yes, we work with hoas and property managers to
try to help them protect multi unit buildings, and same
with contractors too. We work with contractors that are finding
it to be a simple, profitable item they can offer
their customers as as easy as it is to install
for a homeowner or do it yourself for a lot
of people would prefer not to be up on a
(31:02):
root for a ladder, So we get a lot of
great feedback from landscapers, you know, general contractors, pressure washers
that are already at a home on a ladder and
can easily offer this to their customers.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Well, I finally got to the age, Randy, where I'm
not a big fan of climbing up ladders, and the
gut or brush certainly answers the question to that dilemma
and you guys are family owned, made in the USA
since two thousand and four, and you get a high
satisfaction rate.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
I'm sure we do.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
Yeah, it's been a fun project.
Speaker 10 (31:36):
My dad and I started the company together in two
thousand and four, and it's been a really fun business
to work on together and talk to a lot of great,
great customers through the years and providing a simple solution
that has been helpful, and we've got primarily great, great feedback.
We have a very generous warranty and performance guarantee on
the product, so if somebody is not happy for any reason,
(31:58):
we certainly want to hear about it. Make sure we
provide everybody with the best experience we can.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
You know, Randy, when you say, right now, at that discount,
you could probably do a house for two hundred and
fifty three hundred bucks somewhere in that neighborhood. We hear
a lot about different covers that go over gutters you
mentioned them before, that are professionally installed. Some times you
got to do modifications of the roof and everything else.
(32:27):
But if I'm not mistaken, that's about three grand, isn't it?
Speaker 10 (32:32):
At least in many cases. Yeah, we talk to customers
all the time. Who've just gotten a quote from you
from some of these larger companies that are providing different
screens and microscreens or covered systems, And I mean it's
shocking some of the numbers you year back. I think
I talked to somebody the other day that told me
that they'd gotten a quote for I think close to
eight thousand dollars for it, and it was it was
(32:52):
less than one hundred and fifty feet or two hundred
feet of gutter. And for that kind of money, there's
a I mean, you can almost install new gutters.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Every every couple of years if you learned to.
Speaker 10 (33:01):
Yeah, some of those systems are very, very expensive.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
So now's the time.

Speaker 11 (37:51):
Dave, Welcome, Good morning, Gary, Thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
You're quite welcome, Gary.
Speaker 11 (37:59):
I got a question in concerning a patio door. We've
got a patio door and a twenty year old brick
ranch home. It's a patio door that swings into the
dining room and we're thinking about replacing that with the
fighting patio door. We talked to a couple of different
(38:22):
contractors and I don't know if I could mention the
name or not, but they mentioned the name of master Piece.
Are you familiar with that?
Speaker 2 (38:34):
I'm familiar with that brand, though.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
Familiar with a Really where you out of?
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Are you in Cincinnati area?
Speaker 4 (38:45):
Yes?
Speaker 11 (38:45):
In the Cincinnati area. Yeah. They talk like that. They
claim that they're a lot more energy efficient than some
of your Anderson's and some of the Pella doors that
are out there.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
So here's what you can do to kind of help
answer your question, Dave, is, on every window and every
door there is a what they call an nfr C rating,
and it's kind of like if you're buying a card.
It's the miles per gallon for gas. So it talks
(39:21):
about energy efficiency, solar gain. And you can go on
websites and you can find nfr C ratings. Good bed
you know how they fall, and on that door there
should be an nfr C rating. I always tell people
you're looking for doors or windows, why are you doing it?
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Well?
Speaker 2 (39:42):
I want to change it. I want to change the look.
I want something more energy efficient. It's broken and I
can't get parts. I want something I can get parts.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
If those are the.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
Three things you're looking at, you can certainly find the
NFR c ratings to find out how efficient it is.
I don't know about the availability of parts. I don't
know much about that company. I think you can find
that answer fairly quickly. And then the next thing is cosmetic.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
Right.
Speaker 11 (40:16):
Everything I've read online about the particular door has had
good reviews, good, but I just haven't seen any or
talk to anyone around you know that that's used. Yeah,
but just kind of on the fence as to whether
to buy one or not. I will say this, they
were about half price of some of the other name
(40:36):
brand doors.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
No, you know, well, there's probably you know, I mean
a lot of times your big name brands are going
to be a little bit more expensive because the service
and the part availability is better, maybe the energy efficiency
is better. But then sometimes there's also I can think
of a couple other brand names that are going to
(40:59):
be less expensive than some of those bigger brands, but
they have great energy ratings and different things. Also, you know,
one thing, I know, my friend's a champion. They always
talk about and one one step accountability. That's really and
I believe maybe Pella is that way, Anderson is not.
(41:21):
I don't know, I don't I don't want to say
things I don't know about, but that's real important to
some people. In other words, one accountability is the person
makes the wind as they sell you the windows, they
install the window. You got one person to go back to.
Then the installer can't say, oh, it is the company
built the window, and that built the windows the installer.
So you know, one step accountability is important to some people.
(41:44):
Doesn't mean anything. It just you know, that's just a
sales tool and you got a weigh those. But if
you're getting good reviews, check out the NFRC rating, just
give it a check on energy efficiency. Who installs it?
Is it a contractor?
Speaker 11 (42:01):
Then yeah, okay, it would be a local contractor.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
Yeah, how long has he been doing it? I mean
you might even ask him, go ahead, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
I think he's been into business quite a few.
Speaker 11 (42:16):
Years from what I've been told. And he's gotten pretty
good reviews.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
Too, so that's that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Just ask him for even a couple of references, and
you know, maybe just call the people up. But you know,
it sounds like you've certainly done your homework. And that's
why I tell people all the time.
Speaker 1 (42:33):
I had a caller earlier.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
He said he wanted this and wanted a door, and
he wanted windows, and it was I can't remember what
he said, fifteen thousand dollars. What do you think of that? Well,
to me, I think that's high, but heck, everything's high now.
I don't know, you know, did you?
Speaker 1 (42:50):
You know?
Speaker 2 (42:51):
I said to the guy, you know, you got to
do a little bit more homework.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
Get a couple other quotes.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
Maybe get an independent contractor maybe get a national brand
in there, you know, compare and see what you're getting.
But it sounds like you've done that. So if you're comfortable,
I think, based on what you're telling me, I sounds
good to me.
Speaker 11 (43:12):
Yeah, that that does to me too, But I just
kind of wanted to get someone else as a canon that,
you know, more familiar with the product than me.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
Yeah, I appreciate it, Garrett. All right, I hope that helps.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
Thanks, take care, bye bye, all right, and we'll take
your calls again.
