Speaker 1 (00:29):
Well, it's the weekend. Welcome. You're at Home with Gary Salvin.
This IUR was brought to you by Rotor Ruter Plumbing
and Water clean Up. I'm sure you have a few
plumbing issues around your home and if you've been meaning
to fix them, like you know, drippy faucet, slow drains,
how about that garbage disposal, some pump. Well, if that's
the case, you give my friends at Rotor Ruter a call.
(00:51):
It's one eight hundred get roto or you can go
to their website and make an appointment there. It's Rotaruter
dot com and we thank them for sponsoring this hour
of our show as we talk a little bit about
your home, whether it's maintenance, repair, painting, controlling water around
the home. By the way, if you missed the conversation
(01:13):
regarding the product Rhino Shield, you can pick that up
as a podcast and the iHeart app just it is
showing it's available right now, so very good. Thank you
for getting that up. Yes, sir, and it's at Home
with Gary Salvan and a good conversation about the benefits
of this particular coding. It's a ceramic coding and you'll
(01:37):
find it interesting, all right, let's get back to the
phone calls again. Go ahead and grab a line we
got ron welcome.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Thank you, Yes, sir, I have a question. I have
about fifty year old stayed base board that apparently maybe
six eight years to go. Somebody got some slack based
primer on it. Is there anything I can do to
(02:08):
remove that primer without damaging the stained base board?
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Okay, so the salac based primer is it's splattered onto
the the stained based is not the issue. Yes, you know,
if it's the other way around, if it was like
a latex paint, we could get it off. But a
(02:37):
lot of the products are just going to remove latex paint.
It's not going to remove an oil. Mm hmmm, So
not that not really. You can try some you can
try a product like goof off, but usually once that's
dried and it's an oil, you're not going to take
it off.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Right, Okay, sorry, thanks.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Right, thank you? Take care. Just so you know, and
that's true. There's there's products out there you could try. Oops,
that's another one. But the goof off, the Oops, the
crud cutter, those do a really good job of getting
(03:25):
splattered paint off and off a stained surface or even
off a a oil base, Like if you had oil
based trim or euthane painted trim and you had latex
paint that's splattered on it, will remove the latex the
water base and not affect the solvent based paints. But
(03:47):
when it's uh, when it's the other way around, oil
on oil, you're not going to remove it. Scott welcome, Hey,
how are you Gary doing fine? Thanks?
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Good?
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Good looking at it removing a wood deck. So I
don't have the maintenance issue because I want to have
my weekends back and putting in a concrete patio, yes, sir,
so uh gentlemen asked me about stamp concrete. I don't
want to go that route because it doubles the price.
Let along, you have all those brus and that kind
of stuff in it. So then I thought, okay, just
(04:23):
broom finish. But then it was brought to my attention
to maybe color the concrete that I take your thoughts
on that, my friend.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
I think that's a great idea. I think that's a
great idea. When you were talking about different types of finishes,
one of the things I was even thinking is maybe
an exposed aggregate.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Oh, that's a good idea.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Now there's a little bit of colorization, there's a little
bit of maintenance and an exposed aggregate. You're gonna have
to seal that probably every three to four years to
put that sheen on there. But that it's a good option.
As far as doing colored concrete, I think that's a
tremendous is it does it face the southwest northeaster.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
I'm going to face the north north.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
That's good because that's minimal UV rays compared to southwest facing.
So you know, whenever there's pigmentation involved, there's always some
fading that comes into play. The darker, the more fading
will take place.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Yeah, that's what I was afraid of, was the fading.
If I don't want to go with a real dark color,
I go into like a dandage.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Yeah, yeah, something along those lines. And you'll need to
probably keep that sealed too. Really, all our concrete should
be sealed, you know, every three to five years to
keep mildeing, mold and all that. But it's not going
to be near the maintenance of your deck. So relax,
you're going in the right direction. But i'd look good
(05:59):
the I would certainly look at that. In fact, a
lot of times One of my tips I talk about
a lot is even on garage floors. You know, everybody's
painting their garage floors or cleaning it or overlays. They're
doing a lot of stuff. I tell people use an
acid stain on there and put some pigmentation in it.
It's kind of marbleized, you know. It's it's an option,
(06:25):
it really is, and it never peels. It's built in.
In your case, you're going to be ordering it with
a pigment in it, so that pigment is built in.
But stay light. You know, you don't want to get
it too dark because there will be some fading issues.
And and really the way you uh would really correct
(06:48):
that quite honestly as a you know, a semi gloss
concrete seal or coating and it'll it'll pop that color
back just because it's a different for sheen. So yeah,
i'd be sure you get some samples of it, make
sure you know what it's gonna look like.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yeah, tell me about the exposed aggregate. How do they
do that?
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Gary? Well? Exposed to aggregate is just are you familiar
with it where you just see all the stones.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
I am familiar with it, but I just to me,
in my mind, I would think they have to come
back and grind the concrete.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
No, No, they'll usually literally rather than trawling it off.
There'll be more stone in there, and they'll just almost
wash that surface off where the aggregate actually shows. They
just that's pretty much and then he put a gloss
sealer on it and it looks pretty nice. Again. I'm
(07:48):
thinking about the north side. You know, there's more crevices.
You talked about crevices with the stamp concrete. I think
the maintenance is probably gonna fall pretty close in line, uh,
with both of those, because it's not a real super
smooth finish because it's exposed aggregate and you know, and
(08:10):
it has to be sealed every you know, three or
four years. You know, it's just another option. That's another look.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Got it?
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Got it?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
I guess I like that idea. What about I'm in
the northeast up in Cleveland. What about snow and being
slick with that sealer?
Speaker 1 (08:31):
There is a sealer out there that is slipper resistance
called track Safe, and there's probably there's probably other brands
out there also, but it really, I mean, it's you
know the biggest part is when it's wet, not necessarily
a snow and ice or not. You know, the snow
and ice is gonna be slippery, you can't do anything
(08:51):
about that. But uh, exposed to aggregate isn't very slippery
to begin with. I would say the stamp concrete with
a gloss sealer is probably slippier than exposed to aggregate.
But you could still use that track safe ceiling on
the top if you felt like it was slippery. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Yeah, I've seen the damp concrete. It looks good and
all that, but barefoot, it's kind of hard on your feet,
let alone. The cement guy told me it doubles the
price of the concrete.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Well, it does, and there's a lot of maintenance in
that too. I got some. My patio is actually stamp concrete.
It's twenty six years old, and I mean you got
to seal that every every three years just to keep
it looking good. I think otherwise it'll just bleach right.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Out there you go, we'll see that way. You got maintenance.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Now, there you go. You can't avoid it. And I'm
all about easy.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
I know, but I'm trying to follow your rule, my friend.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
There you go. Oh, very good, Thanks for the call.
Appreciate it. We'll take a little break. We'll come back.

reach out. We'll have that conversation. Let's get back to
the phones we have. Ben Ben welcome.
Speaker 8 (13:10):
Yes am I answer? Yes, sir, this is Benjamin. Yeah,
thank you for taking my course.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Sir.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
I have a question.
Speaker 8 (13:19):
You know, I'm not as familiar. We originally came from
West Coast, and we build a house here is.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
We build it last year.
Speaker 8 (13:28):
It's still not finished. We are in the northeast area
of Wooster area, and I'm going to be leaving for
two maybe three weeks, and and I'm afraid the weather.
It's kind of it's just you know, so weird, like
the temperatures fluctuates very rapidly. I'm worried about, uh, I
(13:52):
won't be present here, of getting a mold inside the house.
I'm scared of that.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
Yeah. So the house that's being built, it's it's all
weather tight now correct, yes, yes.
Speaker 8 (14:07):
Or drive walls painted everything. I'm just missing upstairs some doors.
I don't have a door. They're nothing there in Okay.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Is the furnace installed in the house at this point, Yes,
it is.
Speaker 8 (14:20):
We were using. Yes, we were using. And plus I
have a wood burning stow in the basement. I used
that one. But since I going to be absent, I
didn't want to turn on any of those appliances.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Yeah, you would be that safe. Well, you you'll be fine.
I think what I would do, Benjamin, is I would
run the furnace at sixty degrees and yes, and I
would also put your there's a there's an option of
putting the fan on on or on on. Yes, I
(14:56):
would put the Yeah, I would put the fan on
on auto. So when the you know that way, that
fan is just turning on to circulate the air. When
the furnace turns on and the furnace temperature is sitting
low enough, the humidity level, even though it is a
(15:16):
new home, is probably not that high to create mold issues.
And you know, this problem can be certainly a bigger
issue if it were the summer, and it was real
hot and real humid. But in the winter, I think
you'll be fine, Benjamin. I think I just said it
at sixty and put the fan on auto.
Speaker 8 (15:38):
I see, I have one of these gadgets from these
box stores for measuring humidity, operated by Bottery, and that's
only showing me anywhere between thirty five to forty eight
percent of humidity. Yeah, that's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Yeah, so in the winter time, we'd like to have
our humidity around thirty five out of forty. I doubt
if you're forty eight isn't going to hurt you, Okay,
but yeah, usually thirty mac Mac, Yeah, thirty five to
forty is ideal. You'll you'll be fine. You'll be fine.
(16:15):
I don't see any red flags at all for that.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Yeah, for a couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (16:22):
And I have a neighbor, a good neighbor. Should I
suggest to open the door periodically or or something or
or that. No, No, I don't.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
I don't even think that would be necessary. To be honest,
if you got any ceiling fans in the house, I
would hesitate.
Speaker 8 (16:40):
Only only in one bedroom. I have only in one bedroom.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Yeah, you could put that on low if you wanted
just to keep some air circulating. In fact, if you
wanted to when I talked about putting that fan on auto,
if you wanted to move it to on where that
fan on the air handler will be running all the time.
(17:05):
That'll help dry the air. And maybe since it is
a new house, that wouldn't be a bad idea because
you'll have moving air and that you know that will
create dryer air. Got a ceiling fan, turn that on.
But again, the time of the year should not produce
any problems.
Speaker 8 (17:28):
Okay, okay, yes, yeah, okay, thank you very much, sir,
you're quite welcome.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Thank you, bye bye. Yeah. And that furnace sixty degrees
would be fine. If you want to cheat a couple
degrees and get it to fifty eight, that'd be okay.
But to be honest, I don't think i'd go much
lower than that. Hey, I want to give you one
more tip. And then on the other side of the break,
we're going to go to Monica and James, and that
(17:53):
is about cleaning. We're all going to do a lot
of spring cleaning. And one of the things I see
people mess up with because they don't use the right
product is glass cleaners being used on TV screens, computer screens,
and it's one of the reasons why I always recommend
(18:14):
the Jaws glass cleaner. It's free of alcohol, it's free
of ammonia, and it makes for safe cleaning on coated
glass without damaging to finish. And also it's the best
streak free heat glass cleaner that I've used. Danny will
attest he's used it too. It's great stuff. And a
little tip here is as you're cleaning your windows with
(18:37):
the Jaws glass cleaner, make sure to rints the screens too,
give them a good rinsing to remove the dust from
the winter. When you want to have your windows open
come springtime, the last thing you want is some of
that winter dust blowing in. So that would be And
by the way, the Jaws glass cleaner that I was
(18:58):
telling you about, that comes with refill pods, so when
you use the Jet glass cleaner and you're empty, you
don't have to go buy another bottle. You got the
bottle that's reusable, fill it up with water and put
the Jaws glass cleaner right into the neck of that bottle,
put the sprayer through and you're good to go again.
So that would be my tip for a little spring cleaning.
(19:23):
All right, we got uh, well, we got Monica, we
got Brian and if you'd like to join us, says,

And by the way, you can grab a line. Danie'll
(23:09):
take your call and Monica welcome that home with Gary Salvan.
Speaker 9 (23:13):
How you doing, Hi, I'm doing well.
Speaker 10 (23:16):
Thank you for taking my calls.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
I'll tell you what, Monica, you've been so nice for
holding I'm going to get you some Jaws glass cleaner.
How's that?
Speaker 4 (23:27):
That's good?
Speaker 10 (23:28):
So I have a question. I remodeled one room and
we removed the old shep rug and put some insulation
and a new run new shed rug with a beautiful texture.
And then some months ago I see a little crack
(23:49):
and now the crack goes from side to side horizontally.
So I asked the handyman, who is just doing a
very amazing job, and he told me that it's because
the house moves and and if he fixes it, it
will happen again. So the question for you is will
(24:12):
it be worse to have this person repay that crack. Yes,
and and of course have to build the in the
texture again and painting, or will it work if we
just do some talking and and chaint.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Again you you know again. And this crack is just
where the two sheets of drywall meat.
Speaker 9 (24:40):
It appears.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
So it's a straight crack.
Speaker 10 (24:44):
Now it's wet.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
It's a straight crack, right, It's it's just where the
sheets meet. It's a straight line. Well, here's the thing, Monica,
I'm it's not right. I mean, when you go in
houses all the time, you don't see cracks running right
across the drywall. Uh, something's going on there. And I
agree with him in the fact there's some movement, but
(25:10):
I don't know exactly how that was installed. But it's
not right, and I would definitely want it want it fixed.
You know when they when they put drywall in there,
and then they put the mud in there and the
tape on there and more mud and then you know,
get it smooth, and then they then they paint it.
(25:32):
If they have a texture, I don't even know. Sometimes
that's not even taped. I So you you're gonna have
to you're gonna have to dig in a little bit
and find out exactly how that was installed because it
(25:52):
may not be finished all the way, which is okay
if the texture is going to be applied to it,
but the drywall should be hung, it should be taped,
and it should be mudded at least over where the
tape was, and then the texture applied. Right, okay, So
(26:13):
I would.
Speaker 10 (26:14):
You will recommend that they tape it again.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Well, yeah, but he's he's not he's gonna push back
a little bit. It sounds like if he's saying, what's moving?
I can't help that. But yeah, he's gonna he's gonna
have to do something otherwise you're gonna look at that
crack all the time.
Speaker 10 (26:34):
Yeah, okay, all right, so yeah, just tell him.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
You know, when I go into other houses, I don't
see this horizontal crack. So you know we're gonna we're
gonna have to get that fixed, and I you know,
and good luck with that, but I think that needs
to happen. So anyway, let's let's get that behind us.
And Monica, if you could just hold on, Danny will
get your your name and your address and we'll send
(27:00):
you some of that Jaws glass cleaner. I appreciate, uh,
appreciate your calling. Good luck getting that prepared for sure.
All right, if you'd like to join us, do so.
We've got several open lines for pretty much the first
time today, and let's go to Brian. Brian, welcome, Hey Greg,
how you doing today? Doing fine, sir? Thank you?
Speaker 9 (27:20):
Okay, I listened to you every surday and I know
a whole lot of things I learned from you. And yeah,
I was up on my little house behind the house,
and uh little house is setting more. One side is
on the trees and one side is clear and at
one side board the tree go all that mouse doesn't
a roof And some guy said maybe we can get
something spray on it. And I was calling to Gin
(27:42):
to spray something on that roof, to get come get
that mouse off of that or what.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Yeah, so that was the question I was going to
ask you. Is it moss or is it just a
greener black film or stain on there? It's that green stuff, right, okay?
All right, so it it will come off, but and
you should definitely get it off. That's actually got roots
in it, roots on it, I should say, and it
(28:08):
will break the shingles. Okay, So we definitely want to
get that off. And there's a product that's called wet
and forget. We forget okay, and it comes Yeah, it
comes two different ways, all right. It comes in a
concentrate that you can mix it and and spray on it,
(28:31):
or you can get it where you connect a hose
to it and just spray it on the surface. This
is actually a great time of year to do it.
It's not hot, it's not much evaporation, and you spray
it on there. Let's say it's going to take about
four to six weeks, and one of the things you're
(28:53):
going to notice is it's going to turn brown and
eventually it'll delaminate from the shingles. So you'll have to
scoop that stuff out of the gutters. And there's a
likelihood that you may have to reapply. The moss is
different than just an algae stain on roofs which we
(29:14):
see so much, which the wet and forget will take
care of. But when you actually have a pad of moss,
it may take you know, if you don't see much activity,
much of that moss turning brown at week five, I
definitely do a respray of that. And the nice thing
about it is there will be a preventive feature on
(29:37):
that which is going to minimize regrowth. And again north
side of the house shade trees, a lot of organic material.
You're going to have to stay on top of this.
So the wet and forget. Yeah, again, you know, one
or two applications, give it five six weeks to kill it,
(30:00):
maybe reapply, and then every spring I would spray that
roof down. You can use that hose end spray or
it'll spray for I think twenty five feet on a still,
non windy day. But you get a day where you know,
the sun's out, its fifty sixty seventy degrees, it's you know,
it's not real, super sonny, it'd be a perfect perfect
(30:25):
day to apply the wed and forget. All right, thank you,
good luck with that too, And uh, I know every
now and then I'll get calls on the moss. The
wedding forget kills the algae, fungus, mildew, algae, but it
(30:45):
also does the moss and the moss is you know,
it can really do damage to the shingles. When when
you get that and it dies off and it goes
into the gutter and you pull it out of the gutter,
flip one of those pads over, you'll see the roots,
I mean, and there may even be some roots left
on the shingles. That's why it's such a good idea
(31:07):
to reapply, make sure that that surface, that shingle has
got the wet and forget on it. Because it is
a total kill and there is a residual. It takes long,
a long time, a good year or so for that
to rejuvenate start growing again, and probably take you two
(31:28):
years before you notice it. But if you spread it
every year, you kind of get ahead of the game.
And we'll take that call a lot this spring, and
for sure we will. And I think a lot of
people have figured out exactly what that is. And I'll
tell you what. There's some industries out there now that

You've heard me say it many times. Water is the
number one enemy to your home and if you have
high humidity in your home, or a moisture problem or
musty odors. All of these are conditions that are ripe
for mold growth, which can lead to all sorts of problems.
You need to change out the air in your home
instead of deumdified. Let me recommend the easy Breathed ventilation system.
(34:28):
Easy Breathe exchanges the air in your home out six
to ten times a day, making the air cleaner and healthier.

that phone number. It's eight hundred eight two three eight
two five five and we got plenty of time that number.
Get your questions answered. I don't know you want to
give that number. No, you've scored it up last week.
(35:24):
Now last week you screwed it up.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
But I'm trying to let you redeem yourself.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Okay, it's eight hundred eight two three eight two five five.
Well done, Gary, Well done, sir. All right, and we'll
take your call and chat what's going on in your home?
And what kind of project should know one of these days.
I was thinking about this last night. We we ought
to have a little thing where when you call in,
(35:49):
we'll rate things at your house. In other words, where's
your entry way to your house? Ron Wilson, he sent
me this thing by a reeler. It says how important
an entry door and entryway to all houses? Yeah? No, kid,
We've talked about that for forty years literally, And he said,
he goes, Hey, they listen to you, but you know,
(36:11):
and I was thinking that'd be neat We didn't say
how is your entryway? It'd be interesting to see what
kind of answers you get. I think that's an area
that gets forgotten, especially if you have a garage door
and a garage on the side of your home, and
you enter your house through your garage, probably never see
your front door. All right, let's go to uh Sally
Sally welcome. Hello, Hello, Hi.
Speaker 13 (36:36):
I had a question about a lamp post that's leaning
an outdoor lamp post. How do I straighten that up?
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Well? How is it installed? Is it ad? Is it no? Well,
it's it's it's got grass around it. So is there
concrete down in there holding that post or not, so Okay,
that's probably what you're gonna have to find out. You know,
(37:06):
if it's just buried in the dirt, it may not
be deep enough. And we've had a really cold weather,
so we've had some heaving and falling of the of
the soil. And if that thing's that's a you're instance. Okay,
So if that's not down thirty two inches deep, it's
(37:28):
not deep enough in that into the soil, Okay. Okay.
If it's in concrete, whoever poured that may not have
poured enough diameter of concrete, So that's problematic. That whole
concrete thing is that base is moving in the soil,
(37:53):
I mean, or even if it was poured at eighteen
inches and it's a concrete base, it too could heave
and fall. So maybe getting out there with a shovel
or something kind of cutting off the soil or cutting
up the sod around that pole to see exactly how
it's anchored in there. And you know, if it's just
(38:15):
if it's just wabbling in the dirt and we got
to figure out how deep it is, and you know,
it might require resetting it. I don't think it's a
quick fix. I guess that's really what I'm saying. You know,
you can always drive a couple pieces, a couple of
steaks on both sides of it, and that may solve
the problem for a for a period of time, but
(38:39):
by next winter it'd probably do the same thing if
it's a cold winter and it's not down deep enough.
So we got to look, we got to know a
little bit more about it, I think.
Speaker 13 (38:48):
Okay, So if the if it isn't concrete, but the
diameter that you explained was not wide enough. Is that
something that can just be fixed by making additional concrete.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Probably have you pulled the whole thing out if you're
going to go to that work, Okay, have it pulled out,
Put what they call a souna tube in there, go
down thirty six inches. Uh, put the post in, put
the concrete in there, and then it's it's not going anywhere.
Speaker 13 (39:16):
Then, okay, all right, Well thanks much, all.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
Right, good enough, thank you? All right. Then from Sally
we go to Frank. Frank welcome, Hi, good morning, Gary morning.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
I listened to your show every weekend. I love it.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Yeah. The previous call was just called in about growth
on a roof shingles.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Yes, sir, I bought probably five or six years ago.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
I had my homeowners assurance came out and looked at
the house and excuse me, said my roof on the
garage need to be replaced because it was covered with
moss and liking.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
Yeah, I went.
Speaker 4 (39:55):
I went to a hide and bought a part of
I forget the name of it wasn't real expensive. It
kills liking and moss. I sprayed it on with goddenesspray
on a Saturday morning. Sunday morning, I went out and
rinched the roof off. That was six years ago, and
it looks like a brand.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
New still great, great day? Was it thirty?
Speaker 4 (40:16):
I forget what it was a tideway of selves and
it was a gallon of contentry. I put it in
the guidance pray, sprayed it on, let us sit overnight,
rint it off the next day and the other side
of the roof was like brand new.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
H huh.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
The same way.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
Even even since then, the insurance company has come out
again and they never said boo about the roof.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
It looks great, that's awesome. So what she had was
the actual moss. Did you have that? Okay?
Speaker 4 (40:44):
Moss?
Speaker 1 (40:44):
And liking huh okay, all right cool, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
It wasn't real expensive. I bought a gallon of look
like I don't know, fifteen dollars or something.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
Right, right, Yeah. I can't really offer an opinion on
that with out knowing what it is and what's in it.
I know there is some bleach products out there that'll
have quicker action. Yeah, And the drawback to that is
it can really dehydrate or make the shingle brittle. So
(41:16):
you know, if it's an older roof, probably doesn't matter either.
You just got to get that moss off. And you're right, man,
Homeowner's Insurance, they're really getting picky. It's not even just
the moss, it's that like in that you speak of
and the algae, the black streaking. I mean, if they
see that on your roof, they'll make you get it clean,
there's no question about it.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
Yeah. I mean, this is an old roof. I've been
in the house, oh twenty years and it was already
already on there and old.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
Yeah, but it still looks like new.
Speaker 4 (41:46):
The shingles on cracked a buckle or anything.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Very good. Good glad you had success with it. Thank
you much for the call appreciate it all right, then
you know they're are. In fact, it depends here too.
I've used it's been a long long time. Actually, it
was long before they had a lot of these products
(42:10):
out there on the market. One of the ways that
you used to be able to keep and you still can't.
Nothing's changed. You can run zinc strips at the top
of the roof and as it rains in the trace
elements of zinc worked a way down through the roof itself.
(42:31):
The field of roofing that zinc or copper will actually
kill like and moss and different things to a point
it'll change the environment. It won't grow there. The drawback
on that is harder to install. And if you've got
(42:52):
aluminum gutters and you're having copper and zinc trickle down
and kill the moth, it can also create electrolysis, and
I had the gutter and create pinholes. So I'm not
knocking what he said. He didn't know the name of
the product. I probably used a product like that. You
just gotta be careful because you can put bleach on
(43:13):
the air and it'll turn it round. And that product
he used it may well it did what he said.
It did, I'm sure, and he was very happy that
it did and it was successful. Just want to make
sure that it's kind of bleach free because it can
create some problems with the shingles over the years. He
(43:36):
didn't seem to cause that, so maybe it's another product
that I was thinking of. All right, we've got plenty
of time to get you on board, and we will
do that. On the other side of the hour, someone
asks Chuck and Tom to sit tight and if you'd
like to join us, do so. Danny'll take your call.
It's eight hundred eight two three eight two five five,
(43:59):
and we'll get you on board, will chat about your home.
