Speaker 1 (00:34):
Well it's a weekend. Welcome, Thank you so much for
joining me another weekend getting a few things done around
the home. And I know you, like everybody else, has
got plenty to do. This sounds brought to you by
Roto Ruter. And they say announce of prevention is worth
a pound of cure, and that's so true when it
comes to preventing basement floods. You got a problem with

(00:54):
some some pump or backup some pump or plumbing or
if it already happened, and now you got a water
cleanup issue, don't forget Rodo Router. They do both. It's
Rotorrouter dot com. Or you can give them a call
at eight hundred get Roto and do it today. All right,
let's get back to work here. Our phone number is

(01:16):
eight hundred eight two three eight two five five, and
let's go to Joe. Joe. Welcome, Hi, good morning, good morning.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Hello, Yes, sir, yeah, I had a I have a
problem with my driveway.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Uh huh.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I had to put in last fall, like September time frame.
And it's a pretty big driveway. There's a double two
you know, two double garage doors that the concrete butts
up against and it's about the same distance from the
garage doors to you know, perpendicular to the doors. Okay,
so it's pretty expansive. This winter, uh, where we had

(01:56):
a car would park every day for I don't know,
five six seven hour We noticed here earlier on in
the spring that the concrete was deteriorating on the surface.
The actual driveway was fieled when they poured it, you know,
shortly thereafter, and then they cut it, and you know,

(02:17):
and they cut it in probably like eight foot squares,
so they're fairly large sections. But it only is deteriorating.
Were the one car parked during the day for a
few hours, they had said that they you know, it
was a bad mix of concrete and they want to
come and cut out the bad spots and repot it.

(02:39):
But you know that's going to leave the driveway with
all kinds of irregular you know, sections to it. And
then I'm also concerned what about the rest of the
driveway if it gets if you start parking cars and
other areas. Have you run across that before.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
And what have you Well, I have run across this
question many many times. I have to I've not run
across a problem where a person says, oh, we had
bad concrete, because usually it becomes a battle. Joe, I'm
just kind of telling you my experience when you first
started talking about what happened. I'm kind of sitting here thinking,

(03:17):
I know exactly what that is. And I know you
said they sealed it, but I'm thinking, this car, it's
new concrete. It wasn't sealed. They went to work, it snowed,
and you got snow and you got salt, and you
got all the gunk on the bottom of the car.
It pulls in, it sits there, it warms up, it

(03:40):
falls off the car, it sits on this concrete. And
that's salt is very corrosive and it creates a salty
brine solution that eats concrete. And then Joe calls me,
and I tell Joe to call the concrete company and
the concrete and he said, nothing wrong with our concrete.

(04:03):
It's it's the it's the salt you picked up on
the road. And then you call somebody else and say,
that's not the salt, it's the concrete. And that's usually
where the conversation ends, like you're stuck. So your your
answer that the concrete guy had a solution is a
positive for me. I haven't heard that before. But there

(04:28):
is ways to tell if that's true. There's core samples
that can be taken to test to see if the
concrete's failed. But it sounds like we've crossed that bridge
that they said, jeez, you know, we had a bad
batch of concrete. I don't know what was wrong with it.
Did they say no?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
They said that they'd have the you know, talk to
the the cement guy who have purchased the concrete from
a concrete company. Okay, they would come out and take
a look. And they looked and it kind of said, well,
we think it's a bad you know, bad batch. Yeah,
we'll cut it out and replace it. And they didn't
have five or six or seven or eight trucks that came,

(05:09):
so you know, I guess it's possible to have one
bad batch. But again also concerned with what if you
park your car, you know, two lengths down from that
when this coming winter.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
So ying, Okay, so let's address that question. And it's
a legit question, right, I mean, it's absolutely legit. Yeah,
And I just mentioned core samples and that's how they
would test that. And you know, I think I would say, well,
I would like, you know, several core samples taken throughout

(05:38):
the driveway to make sure that what you're saying that
there was just one bad batch is accurate. I think
that's reasonable considering they've already said they had one bad batch.
So let's take that. Let's take that opportunity to ask
for that, right.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Okay, And what do you think about cutting out sexs?
You know that are not going to be symmetrical with
the rest of the driveway.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Well, so are you are you concerned about it being unsightly?
In other words, it would hurt the curb appeal of
the driveway.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, for sure. And it happens to be right at
the man door entrance. Uh, And that is another.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Well I would express that to him. I don't know
how he'll react to that. I would ask that, Yeah,
I mean you're concerned about it. It's kind of not
your fault that it happened, right right, you know, So
again I would put that on my ask list, like,
I really appreciate you coming back and taking care of

(06:44):
this problem, a problem that I didn't correct. If we
were laying that out the way it's going to look
when it's fixed. I would have said, no, I'm not
interested in doing this project with you, and now you're
going to you know, man up and fix it, which
I really appreciate, but I can't have that look.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Yeah, okay, yeah, I suppose to get it to match
the rest of it, you would probably just use probably
you know, twice as much of an area that you would,
you know, instead of just cutting out half of the
area to get it to look you know, equivalent. Okay, Well,
we're working on it.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
So yeah, exactly, and I mean this sincerely. You're further
along than most people get, so keep that in mind.
As they always say, there's nothing guaranteed in concrete except
it's going to crack, and it always does, and it
always does, so good luck to you.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Okay, Well, thank you for the information. I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
You're quite welcome. Thanks, Joe, take care. Uh let's get Yeah,
in some point today I'm going to go over exactly
what you should be looking at for a concrete driveway.
Kind of got on this theme. It happens we start
on one subject and we get a lot of calls
on it, and that's good. That's good. Along the way

(08:07):
at the bottom of this hour, Peter Diich is going
to be joining us. We're going to talk about the
roller Rock product. That's right. Roller Rock is a coding
that can put over concrete garages, walkways, et cetera. And
it'll be knowing Peter. It'll be an enlightening conversation, so
stay tuned for that. Let's go to Shannon here.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Shannon, welcome, well, thank you longtime callers. I bought an
easy brief system. It was installed in January in an
unfinished basement. Okay, the furnaces left home two months, came
back and it was really moist down there. I didn't
run the dehumidifier while I was gone, because we don't

(08:46):
leave electric run.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
And with a.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Dehumidifiers able to get the humidity back down to like
forty percent. I have a hydrometer down there, uh huh,
but I've had to run it if I've had two
gallons of water pulled out every day since I arrived
home April first.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Okay, Now, then I.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Said, well, you got an issue with inside air coming out,
So I hired somebody to put one inch phone board
up in the on the bandboard and put foam around
the edges.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
It's still humid when I run the easy breathe.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Well, let me ask you a couple of questions here,
because it depending on how moist it is, sometimes you'll
have to run both. But you shouldn't have to run
it that much. I'd run both in the maybe in
the middle of July, and that's about the only time
of the year I do. But let me ask you
a couple of questions. When you said you were gone
for a couple of weeks, you didn't run the deep

(09:38):
the fire because there was no electricity.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
No, we don't run electric things in case, you know,
it catches on fire or something if we're not home
for extended period of time.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Okay, But so the easy breathe wasn't running when you.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Were gone, No, it was I did let that run?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Oh you let that run?

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Okay, yes, but not to you emidify.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Okay, So you don't shut down all the electricity to.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
The house, no, sir?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Okay, all right, because soon you said that, I got
well and I got the answer for that. All right,
all right. So yeah, Well, sometimes depending on how moist
and it's been real wet it it sometimes can't handle
all the moisture. To pull it out certainly helps with it.
But like I said, sometimes you do have to run
to do you meidify, But it seems like you're running.

(10:31):
You're pulling an awful lot of moisture out of that house.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
And for a basically I have left.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
I mean, it's pulling air from somewhere that's damped. I
don't know if it still can it still come through
the brand board with it phoned?

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Did you use open cell or close sell? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
He it came out of a can.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Well, they come both ways.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
And the board, I don't know they come both ways.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
I must say most most expandable foam in a can
is going to be a closed cell, so it shouldn't
be bringing moisture in. But in some cases there are
open cell phones which does allow water vapor to penetrate
the foam. So I can't really answer that. What I

(11:23):
would do is I would call do you have any
leaks or anything along nose lines in the basement?

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Not unless it's at the bandboard. I mean I've had
energy studies and I had a huge air leak.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Oh yeah, it's it is an area that is very
vulnerable for that.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
The easy breed is pulling in air from outside.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Well, it pulls some air in. That's it.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
You know.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
The way it works is it pulls air from outside.
It is conditioned on the first floor, second floor, The
dampest goes to the bottom, it's pulled out of the house,
and the more conditioned air comes down and settles in
the basement. Did you install it or did they install it?

Speaker 3 (12:06):
No? I had guys through recommended by easy Breath that
install it.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Why don't you call them, okay and talk through it
with them, Let them come out and double check, make
sure installation where it's placed is important, and then call
me back and let me hear what they're saying. And
I don't know without seeing it. I've got one. I've

(12:34):
had one for fifteen years. I haven't had that problem
on occasion. I do run? Do you mid a fire?
So why don't we do that, Shanon? Because I'm really
not going to have an answer for you. But why
don't you go ahead and give them a call? Tell
them you talk to me on the air, see what
their answer is, give me a call back or send
me an email. Okay, thank you much for the call.

(12:55):
I appreciate it, and then we'll come back and get
another question or two answered. Then We're going to have
Peter days from Disceh Coatings as we work our way
through the weekend. You're at home with Gary Sullivan.

Hi Gary, how are you?

Speaker 6 (16:00):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Not bad?

Speaker 6 (16:01):
It's warming up quick cucker.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yeah, baby, it's about time.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
You Hey.

Speaker 6 (16:08):
My question is I have a stay and As steel
refrigerator that has like scratches on it, light scratches, like
somebody use a scrabbling powder or something. Huh, what's the
best thing to try to get that out?

Speaker 1 (16:21):
I don't know if you'll get it out, but I
would try Barkeeper's Friend. That's a wonderful product for stainless steel,
and it is designed to take scratches out. Okay, okay,
so it's going to clean it. I don't know if
it's gonna be heavy enough. I'm you know, I don't
want to get into like, well, we could try some

(16:41):
Jewelers rouge paste and you could buffet out. Well maybe
or maybe we'll put more scratches in. I don't really know,
but I try, like a barkeeper's friend would would be.
I think a pretty safe bet. And I guess it
really depends on, you know, how deep they are.

Speaker 6 (16:58):
Yeah, they're you know they it looks like you're pretty light,
you know, and stainless steel is so shiny.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
You know, so scratches the accent.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
Yeah, my wife will make me buy a new four
thousand dollars refrigerator or something.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Well, let me tell you a funny story. You'll feel
better about yourself. You're ready, Yeah, I'm ready. So when
I built this house, I put in a refrigerator, and
back then it was about six thousand dollars. It was
a big, big refrigerator. And we and we moved into
the house and one of the kids went off to college.
The other one was like a sophomore in high school.

(17:36):
And that refriger is about a month old. And he
comes in and he headbuts the refrigerator and what are
you doing? And he said, I didn't do good on
this one test. And I go He literally put a
dent in a stainless steel refrigerator about the size of

(17:58):
an apple. And my option was to replace that panel,
which was not cheap. I can't remember where it was.
I took the panel off and I tried to hammer
that out, which I thought he did an okay job,
but not a perfect job, so I had I had

(18:21):
a thing about It was probably the size of maybe
a big whiffle ball, and it just had all these
little dots on it where I kind of hammered that.
And that refriger was twenty six years ago, and that
refriger was just replaced. So I looked at him for
twenty six years. So I hope you have better.

Speaker 6 (18:46):
Yeah, hang, I'm magnet with a picture in front of it,
or yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Well then that's when I learned that all magnance don't
work on stainless steel either. There was gonna be best.
That was gonna be my plan, Thank you much. Try
the barkeeper's friend. You may have some good with it.
Appreciate it, and you could try. But try down at
the bottom, maybe a polishing compound for automotives, jeweler rouge.

(19:13):
But try an inconspicuous place and just see how that performs.
Don't do it right in the middle of the refrigerator.
But that's a classic story we tell religiously at family gatherings.
All right, taking your calls after we talked to Peter
Dish about the roll of Rock, and we'll continue on.
You're at home with Gary Sullivan.

Speaker 5 (19:46):

about roller rock in the past and we're talking about
it again. The one thing I see, and if I
was just talking to a buddy about this the other day,

(22:58):
there's a couple of things in our city in terms
of commercial services concrete coatings, bathrooms, roofing and waterproofing. It's
like everybody in the world must have these problems, and
we got the man here to help us. Peter Dice
from Dice Coatings, Welcome aboard. You're at home with Gary

(23:20):
Salvin Beeter.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
Good morning, Gary. How are you doing.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
I'm just living a dream. How about you?

Speaker 4 (23:28):
Same same thing? Thank you.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Well, here we go. I keep getting notices. I want
to talk about the tracks safe with Color additives. But
before we get going, we've had a couple discussions already
about roller rock and doing different garage floors and things.
And I was telling people there's so much out there,
and then I'll let you tell me about, you know,

(23:55):
how to resolve that. We talked about some inexpensive I
used to complain about inexpensive epoxy coatings, do it yourself things,
minimum maybe maximum lifespan that I've seen is four to
five years. And I've talked to you about your industrial
strength Epoxy's a little different story. And then we talk

(24:15):
about roller rocks, and then I see start seeing ads
about people that are coming in and putting polyurea coatings
on what's what I know? The science behind coatings for
concrete have been dramatic and have really opened up the

(24:36):
the playbook on what we can do to our garage floors,
patio floors, laundry room floors. Tell me what roller rock
is and I know it's a great product. But why
it's a great product.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Well, roller rock is a stone coating and it comes
in a bunch of different colors. But the whole idea
there is if you have a surface that is drab
or maybe has been repaired before, it's got some patches.
Patches never look the same. You're going to have to
cover that with something, and ideally you want something with

(25:12):
some body. So the whole idea behind roller rock is
hence the name roller rock. It's a stone coating. You're
buying it all with a roller, but once you put
it on, it covers all of the repairs that you
may have done. It'll cover any airline cracks. It'll offer
a very attractive, very uniformly textured surface that has visual highlights.

(25:40):
And it's a very slip resistant surface too, so it
basically hides everything. It gives you very uniform, very attractive
surface in basically fifteen different colors, and once it's down,
it's very very durable. So it's going to stand up

(26:01):
to foot traffic, it's going to stand up to your
car tires if you happen to be parking on it.
It'll stand up to shoveling in the winter. But basically
it creates a whole new surface that you're not just
painting it because a lot of times if you have
an old surface and you're putting on a thin, thin

(26:21):
coating like a paint, like a portion floor paint, anything
that's there or any texture or any repair could still
transmit through visually and you're going to see it and
it's just going to look like an old concrete surface
that you're painted. So the whole idea behind roller rock
is you're resurfacing rather than painting, and you're getting a

(26:41):
very very effective slip resistant surface as well. So you've
got the safety aspect the beauty aspect, and you just
stand there and you roll it on. It's as easy
as painting, but it's a lot more durable than paint.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Now you've designed this product for do it yourselfers and professionals.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
Correct, yes, yes, because you know we we literally have.
You know, there are very many contractors professionals that we
work with who who offer this as part of their
business and they install this and they'll completely renew you know,
your surroundings and they will roll this on, but you know,

(27:20):
they will ensure that the surface is good and clean
prior to application. You know, they'll go through the steps
and they'll you know, obviously do it for you. Not
everyone wants to install it, and that's where the pros
come in, and they like working with it because the
effects are great, they're long lasting. They don't need to
you know, come back and repair it or anything like that.

(27:40):
It's very, very durable. It stands up to the elements,
and it's just an easy thing that they add to
their to their business package.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
So when you say long lasting, were you throwing that number? Ad?
I mean how long could a homeowner doing the project
following your directions? How long shit lasts on a garage floor, say,
which is probably the toughest area.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
Right, Yeah, Well, basically it can last you know, a good,
good number of years. I'm talking five, between five and
ten years. But the important thing is that you need
to ensure that when you are applying the product. You
just want to make sure that the surface is clean
so that when you apply the coating, it's primerless by

(28:27):
the way, so you don't need to put a primer
on force. You Yeah, you just put this on two
good solid coats. It's stone, so it has a lot
of compact compacting strength and you know, basically, you know,
you put this on and you know it stands up

(28:49):
to the elements. It stands up to freezing temperatures, it
stands up to UV, so it can be in a
hot climate, it can be in a cold climate, and
it just is stone that compacts very tightly together and
you are sealing it at the end. We have a
number of seilers that you can use, but it basically
is a very very water repellent, very durable, very stain

(29:13):
repellent surface that if you slip and fall on this swell,
I don't know, I think I'd be very very surprised.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Yeah, yeah, no, it does definitely have good traction. Folks.
You can use this interior or exterior. And I know
the other thing is, you know, people always want to
know how long it's gonna last and what's it going
to cost. And really, when you look at the cost
of the roller rock, I wouldn't say it's any more

(29:42):
expensive money than a good quality gallon of paint. And
it's certainly going to outperform it because it is a coating.
The thickness of the coating itself, so you can do
it a garage or even a laundry room floor relatively inexpensively.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
You definitely we can, and and depending on the surface,
we have different seilers that you can use. So if
you're if you're using this in your garage, you would
use our garage and driveway ceiling, which is especially made
to repel any oil or any kinds of stains that
might happen in a garage. If you're going outdoors, you

(30:19):
would just use our Ultra clearcoat, which is fantastic. But
the key is that regardless of the weather, regardless of
the season, it's going to perform through all of that.
It's going to keep looking great. It's it's a new
layer that you're applying, but you're doing it with a
roller from a standing position. It's very easy, it's very fast.

(30:41):
It dries generally outdoors within an hour max. But usually
within roughly half an hour. It's it's dry, and then
you just roll on a second coat and leave it
alone till the following day and that's when you seal
it with the with the ceiler that you would use.
Coverage is excellent. It covers a good area, covers between

(31:04):
eighty and one hundred square feet per gallon, and that's
putting down a very you know, very very good solid
coat on that surface that hides anything that was there before.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Now, how often should you seal it with like the
garage driveway ceiler, the seiler.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Generally we suggest you know, maybe every two years. But honestly,
once it's on and and that that layered effect of
what you've got there is there, it's going to last.
But we would say just to keep it looking totally pretty,
keep it looking brand new and clean all the time.

(31:43):
Maybe every couple of years, every two to three years,
put another coat of the Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Put a bite to it.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
Then it has a little bit of achine, but not
an insane amount of machine, because you don't want a
surface that looks like.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Plastic, right, satin, so.

Speaker 4 (31:58):
Exactly exactly something, you know, so that so that the
stone character is there and uh, that way you get,
you know, you get all of it. You get, you
get the beauty of the stone, you get you know,
uh you know, not a shine where the sun is
bouncing off and blinding you. Just so it needs to
be something that is just a nice fit. It's great
for your patio. It's fantastic for your pool deck, great

(32:22):
for your porch and steps, you know, make those steps, uh,
you know, safer to go up and down on. Uh,
you know, when it's been raining or whatnot. It's it's
just it packs a lot of value in one very
easy to apply punch.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Okay, we're talking about a product called roller rock. It's
a rollable stone coating by Dice Coatings, and I guess
the you can use it inside now, it's got so
many incredible reasons to use that, and you can put
it on as a do it yourself or you can
maybe hire a painter to do it. But what is

(32:58):
the prep work to apply the roller rock? And again, folks,
that's a self priming formula. Is it just soap and water?
Are we getting into grinding or acids? Just walk me
through the prep work.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
Yep. So basically the best possible thing you can use
outdoors is a pressure washer. Just use a pressure washer,
power washer if you call it that. But basically, you
want to clean that surface. You want to blast the
dirt out of the pores of that concrete. Okay, And

(33:32):
once you've done that, you've really opened it up and
you you know, you're basically saying, okay, this is going
to allow the formula to to penetrate and lock into
that surface. So once you've done that, that's it's It's
very easy. Just pressure wash, get a clean let it
dry for an hour, apply the material, and literally, if

(33:55):
you do your job on you know you started on
a Saturday morning. By Sunday morning you're installing or rather
applying the clear sealer because it requires twenty four hours
to cure. The following day you seal it and the
job is done. So if you're doing it on let's
say garage floor or a very smooth, power trowled concrete,

(34:19):
you may want to actually do an etch. We have
an extra cleaner which is extremely effective, or you can
do it the old fashioned way with a mix of
you know, two to one or three to one myriadic
acid with water. It's been done forever, but basically the
idea there is just to add a little bit of abrasion.

(34:43):
Yeah yeah, open up the pores, rough it up a
little bit so it's not quite so smooth. That gives
you something called mechanical adhesion where you're not just you know,
waiting for the formula and the chemistry to do it.
You actually have something that that coating you know, can
lock onto.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
And grab yep, yep. And a good time to use
a high powered pressure washer instead of a little wimpy
one too. How about recoding. Once it's been coded ten years,
it starts maybe not failing, but just getting a little tired.
Can you go right over the top of it. Minimal preparation,
just good and clean.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Absolutely all you need to do is give it a
quick pressure wash at that point. You don't need a
lot of pressure because you're not opening up at that point,
right We're just getting just sort of big exactly, and
then you just let it dry for an hour, apply
any any new color you want over top, or if
by some chance you are interested in a different coating,

(35:43):
a stone coating from our line and you want to
go over that, feel free. Because everything is made to
be compatible, and everything is made to be recoadable by

Speaker 7 (40:11):
Gary, thank you. My daughter recently bought a house and
during the inspection there's a slab poard family room that
two vents in it and it looks like a pottery
type type that they've kind of run through. The inspector
pointed out that part of the run is good, but
then the second half, he said, it collapsed and so
there's no air coming out the other event. And I

(40:32):
was wondering, I'm pretty handy.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
I've called you.

Speaker 7 (40:35):
Before and done some other things, but was wondering if
that's something that I could, you know, kind of get
in there with something and dig out myself and then
maybe sew it in with a EVZ pipe or something,
or is that some point?

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Well, if you can dig up the floor. If you can,
I think you're going to dig up the floor. You're
gonna have to cut the floor. Oh no, that's why
I was going to say, if you can get to that.
I was going to say, if you can get to it,
maybe there's a way to tap into it. There's even
different liners that can be put in, but they use
a lot for like wastewater lines that are clay. But

(41:07):
if it's collapsed, even that is almost got to be replaced. Okay,
And so yeah, it'd be a project, but you know
it's also a negotiable point.

Speaker 7 (41:22):
So okay, Yeah, one other quick question. I know you
always talk about wedding forget. I used to it on
the brick and I spoke to them and they said,
you can use it on yours assaults singles.

Speaker 6 (41:32):
I just had my roof ree down a couple of
years ago.

Speaker 7 (41:35):
I was wondering if that's something that one should preventively
put on there the places north the front side of
my house and we get you know, it was just
it gets dark. I've had it clean before. I'm not
sure how they power wash it or whatever. They hopefully
didn't powerwash it, but I was just wondering if that's
a preventive, if you'd recommend it.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Is a preventive. I do want to just tell you
a little something about today's roofing or roofing. Just a
couple of years ago, a lot of roofing come He's
started incorporating different metals in the shingles that are a
little bit of a preventive dose of medicine or some
zinx and copper in the granular protection that's on shingles

(42:16):
that has a lifespan of about ten years. If you
still got the warranty on that roof, and you might
just double check that if it's a got a ten
year warranty against fungus and algae, that means those metals
are in those shingles. Most of them are going to
carry a thirty year warranty for replacement stuff. So I

(42:41):
just wanted to tell you that now to answer your question,
if you use the wet and forget on a roof
as a preventive dose of medicine, it's absolutely works because
once if there is no protection on the roof to
eliminate fungus, algae, et cetera. Uh, there's still there's growth

(43:04):
going that you can't see yet, and it takes a
couple of years for to start getting shadows in the roof.
Then a couple more years you start having those drapes
of black coming down the roof. If you spray that,
you know, every couple of years as a preventive you'll
never see that.

Speaker 7 (43:27):
Okay, it's a good please. Yeah, I didn't really think
it was good to wait until you saw the streaks
and stuff.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
So yeah, it's a complete kill. So if it just
starts getting you know, every two years, you got it
up there, you just can't see it yet, you spray it,
it'll be a complete kill and the clock starts over again.

Speaker 7 (43:44):
Okay, sounds great.

Speaker 6 (43:45):
Well, thank you so much.

Speaker 7 (43:46):
I've been listening to you for some twenty some years.

Speaker 1 (43:48):
I think I've been doing that for thirty night now.
Thank you. I appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (43:54):

to believe, but a lot has happened. I used to
