Speaker 1 (00:27):
Well, it's a weekend Welcome at Home with Gary Salvin.
This satura's brought to you by a gutter brush. Gutters
that are clogged it can least a costly damage. I
trust a gutter brush in my home. I'd say fifteen
twenty years. It's like a giant bottle brush. It's like
three feet long. You just slide it into your gutters.

(00:49):
It comes in all different sizes. Just measure the size
of your gutter. In fact, if you want to quote,
because they've got a sail going on right now, it's
thirty percent off Tuesday, okay, so you got to take
advantage of it.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
It's gutterbush dot com. It says free quote. Just give
them your address and they'll get the measurement of your
home for the gutters and they'll give you a quote.
And there's all kinds of ways to do that. Mini
roofers use it. Uh, But gutterbrush dot com get to

(01:22):
free quote thirty percent through Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
All right.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
We thank gutter brush for sponsoring this hour of the show,
and our lines are open, so if you'd like to
grab a line, Danny Boy, we'll take your call. It's
eight hundred eight two three eight, two five five and
feel free to jump on board. And we've been talking
about different things that maybe you should take a look

(01:49):
at around your home. And we were talking about a
clocking around tubs. I'll tell you another thing too. We
were talking about, you know it's gonna be a big
year mosquitoes and one of the things you can do
to minimize pest around your home. We're talking about getting
the mulch off the brickline, if that's the case. Also

(02:13):
just cleaning out the beds. You know you got bushes
up against the house. Do you ever really take the
time you get a blower out there and rakes and
get all that gunk out of there. That's a breeding
area for spiders, ants, centipedes, all kinds of things. It's
it's cool, it's usually damp. And don't really stack firewood

(02:39):
up against your house because you know you got termite issues,
et cetera. If you get it out in the open,
especially if you just got some wood that's just been
cut or something helps it dry out, don't cover it
with plastic. Just let the air blow through it, but
don't put it up against your house. Also, if you
got your compressor for your air conditioner outside. Pay attention

(03:03):
to that also, because it too needs good air circulation.
I see it all the time. People will even put
fences up around it, and there'll be a solid fence
and they'll be like eighteen inches between the compressor and
the fence. That's a no, no, okay. You want to
have a couple of feet really around that compressor for

(03:25):
good airflow. So bushes shouldn't be growing and hanging over
the compressor or pushed up against the sides of the compressor.
Garbage can shouldn't be stacked right around the compressor. So
clean that area up also. That can make a big
difference in terms of effectiveness and also cost effectiveness. All

(03:48):
right again, it's eight hundred eighty two three eight two
five five Grab a line, Larry, welcome, doing fine, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Rust on vital siding. What's the best way to get
rust off about scrubbing the heck out of it?

Speaker 1 (04:08):
You got any barkeeper's friend at your house? No, I don't, okay.
That that can do a pretty good job. Comes in
a liquid, it comes in a powder. That would be
one product that will require a little scrubbing, uh the
other one, but it's got some body to it, you know.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
The other one you might try is a product called
iron out that can come in uh granular.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
I've heard that stuff before.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah, yeah, so yeah, and they also know it's not
going to hurt the sighting, and you can use that.
Ironut comes in a spray and you would just keep
spraying it. I know it sounds weird, but if you
get to crystals and you mix it with water and
you put it in like a little bucket, you take
a paintbrush and just keep brush this stuff over the

(05:01):
rusted area and it will dissolve iron oxide. So either
one of those products, I'd give a try and see
if that doesn't take care of it, probably will.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Yeah, I've just hiring out in the bathroom before. I
kind of forgot about that stuff. So yeah, okay, thank you,
all right, you're quite welcome.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Thanks, take care, bye bye, all right again. Eight hundred
eight two three eight two five five. Going back to
the question about the uh rotted would because I got
a couple of emails on that right away too. You know,
when you're looking to fix something that's just one of
those things that could turn into a really big job,

(05:43):
but it's also one of those things that looks like
a really big job, and it may not have to
be a big job. And they asked me if I
would repeat the products I talked about, and yes, I can.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
So.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
A lot of your wood patches that you'll find in
the hardware store, it's almost like a vinyl spackling compound,
per se. You know, it's for wood, and I'm sure
they're different, but it's more of a cosmetic patch. All right,
let's use that cosmetic patch, just kind of smoothing on,

(06:18):
make it look good. Everybody's fine, everybody's happy. The one
I was talking about is it was actually came up
through preservation of homes, older homes where you know, rotted
wood of course becomes an issue a lot of times

(06:39):
in older homes and historic homes where you don't really
want to change things too much. And it's Abbatron a
B A t R O N dot com. Abatron makes
some very specific different patches. They make one plaster again

(07:01):
historic homes, make one for wood, and the one for wood.
Most of your other wood patches that you're gonna find
the hardware store that just looks like a spackling compound.
Like I said, they're superficial. You're gonna put a skim
coat on it, or you're gonna, you know, maybe put
a you know, I don't know, sixteenth of an inch
or three sixteenths at the max filler this you can

(07:25):
actually patch a piece of rotted wood the size of
a basketball. In fact, it was actually created for posts
and pillars like we were just talking about. And you
can you know, so if you had a patch that
was the size of us, say a softball, and the

(07:47):
solid wood, but it's soft, it's soft, you can scrape
some of that off, so you can kind of square
it up and get a good patch in there. And
you don't have to go all the way down to
the real super for solid wood. Just want a good
place to hold this patch. And they have a product
call liquid wood. Liquid wood is a just a clear

(08:09):
liquid that is brushed on and it will harden that
decaying wood. I mean it'll harden it like a rock.
And then the wood a wood epos. Again, if you
added the size of a softball, you mix it up,
you press this bigger patch in, you take a taping knife,

(08:30):
a paint paddle, shape it up and I'll tell you
it can be then drilled. It can you can run
a screw in it. It can be sanded, it can
be painted. It's very substantial. But if it becomes a
structural issue, of course, that's a whole different ballgame. But
I just want to pass on on. Abatron dot com

(08:52):
is where you'll find those two products. All right, let's
take a break. When you come back, we'll get some
more questions answered. If you'd like to join us, do
so again. It's eight hundred eight two three eight two
five five year at Home with Gary Solivan takes it.

All right, back in it, we go at Home with
Gary Sulvan, taking through another weekend, getting a few things
done around the home. By the way, if you missed
yesterday's show, Danny Boy has each hour via podcast. iHeart
app app at Home with Gary Salvin. I work hard
for you, Gary, O you do? Just breaking a sweat?
I think you broke a sweat once, didn't you. Yeah?

(12:32):
The air wasn't working one day. Oh that's where it was. Okay, Yeah, that's.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Right, I remember.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Now, all right, let's get to Nancy. Nancy. Welcome, Hey Nancy.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
Well I'm Dean, but I can be Nancy for a second.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Well, Danny mustl't worked too hard there.

Speaker 5 (12:52):
I heard a previous podcast to where there was something
you could do for the cracks in your driveway because
we had a big tree and when it the roots
went across there, and so the driveway's got a crack
where that is, and there's other cracks too, and you

(13:13):
had something. I don't think it was quick Seal, but
it was something like that. Do you remember what it
might be?

Speaker 2 (13:20):
So?

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Is this on a concrete driveway or an asphalt driveway?

Speaker 4 (13:24):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Gosh, oh concrete concrete?

Speaker 1 (13:28):
And what was your last question? You said? You asked
me if I I just wondered.

Speaker 5 (13:33):
I thought it was quick Seal, but I'm not sure.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
So how big is are these cracks?

Speaker 5 (13:41):
Maybe a half an inch? Third of an inch?

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Okay, So it was probably a quick Creek product, which
is where the quick came in. And Quick Creek makes oh,
probably three hundred different products. The one I probably spoke
of based on your question with the cracks is a
self leveling you' athane crack filler need and it comes

(14:12):
in a large calking tube, So you need an industrial
strength calking gun. Don't buy one of those cheap two
dollar ones. And if it is, you know, an inch
wide or even three quarters of an inch wide.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
That's it's not that wide.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Okay, So more like a quarter inch half inch something
like that.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
No, it's more like a it's more like a third
two way two thirds of an inch maybe.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Okay, but not can you get a pencil lead in it?

Speaker 5 (14:45):
Half an inch?

Speaker 6 (14:46):
Well?

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Can you get a pencil lead in it if you
took a pencil in okay?

Speaker 5 (14:52):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (14:52):
And could you get a whole pencil in there?

Speaker 5 (14:56):
Mmmm?

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Yeah, I guess Okay, So if you can get a
whole pencil in there, that self leveling your thing, crack
sailer would be fine. Now I'm gonna give you another thing, okay.
Quick Creek makes a couple of these different crack seilers
that are self leveling. There's also one which is an
advanced resin self leveling crack sailor get that one. Get

(15:25):
that one and I'll tell you why. It's gonna be
a lot easier to apply. It comes in a regular
cocking tube and you can use a regular cocking gun
to apply it. Clean it out, make sure you get sand, dirt, weeds, whatever,
if anything's growing up to there. Get it as clean
as you can. If it's as wide as a pencil,

(15:46):
you probably will not need to use what they call
backer rod. And you know, again, if it was an
inch wide, I was going to tell you to use
a backer rod, which is like foam roping that you
just push down into that crow. Yeah, but you probably
you shouldn't need that. If it's just about the width
of a pencil. Just put it because it's a pretty

(16:10):
you know, it's like a bead of calking, but it's
self levels. It's really cool. You just put it into
or above the crack. It weeps into the crack, it levels,
and if it levels below the surface, you just let
it dry and come back and put another bead right
on top. And it's got Yeah, it's got great adhesion.

(16:31):
It's got wonderful flexibility because where there is a crack
in concrete, you know, I mean it could continue to
one side of that crack settle and could continue to
get bigger, so it stretches. Eventually it will fail, you know,
if it keeps moving. But you know it's better than

(16:55):
you know, a lot of your basic crack seal compounds.
The liquid crack seal is you've probably heard me talk
about that too. It comes in a jug and you
just put this liquid right over the crack. That's for
real small cracks. In other words, if you said, oh,
I can just get the lead of the pencil in there,
I could never get a pencil in that crack. Then
when you would use the one called crack seal, which
is just the late text. But the self leveling advanced

(17:18):
resin cracked sailor in the calking tube is really what
you want to use.

Speaker 7 (17:24):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
And do you think ACE Hardware would have that?

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (17:28):
They should, they should. Yeah, I'm pretty sure they would.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Okay, alrighty, that is all I need. Thanks a lot, Gary,
You're quite welcome.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Thank you, take care all right? Uh, David, welcome Gary?
How you doing doing fine?

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Sir? Thanks?

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Hey.

Speaker 7 (17:46):
I just wanted to share with you something that I did.
And you were talking about mold tubs.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Uh huh where the calking is, Yes, sir.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
I'm gonna there with you. Something I did. It was
in my kitchen. I installed some pellow windows for somebody on.
I had some leftover vinyl pieces and they're pretty flexible,
they're right, And they were about an inch and a
half wide by twenty seven and a half inches long,

(18:21):
and I put it in the backsplash between my kitchen
countertop and you know right aisle that I installed, which,
by the way, I balked down at the restore.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Oh okay, so you kind of made your own molding anyhow.

Speaker 7 (18:44):
I had these leftover pieces and I put them in there.
They're vinyl, they're kind of flexible, and I will never
have to talk again, right and on. What I'm saying
is if you go up to a big box store
and find a comparable piece of plastic and you can
do the same thing, or a shower at the base

(19:05):
where you're getting all that mold, you can put that in,
you probably won't ever have to calk again.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yeah, I'll tell you what they do. They have like
AAAC molding, which you could use aazak. That's one thing.
They also make a cove molding, which is already vinyl
strips with an adhesive on it, where you can fold
the molding and put it right in that crevice. I'll
tell you what that particular product I wouldn't use. I

(19:32):
think it's very difficult to get it straight and it
looks like anything, but I could tell where you were going,
and that's certainly a good answer, and certainly people can
try that also. All right, Coming up next, we have
our friend Randy Schreber from gut or Brush. We're going
to keep those gutters free flowing. You're at home with
Gary Sullivan.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Start a project and don't know how to finish it
and call it Gary and one two three talk at
home with Gary.

over the years we talk a lot about gutters, you know,
whether it's a gutter that's leaking, a gutter that's clogged,

(22:38):
a gutter that's spilling water over the front of homes
without gutters. What is it with gutters? And what purpose
do they serve? And how important is it to keep
them free flowing? And how do we keep all that
nasty gunk out of gutters? Well, we're going to get
to the answers of those questions. Randy Shriver's joining us
once again. He is with gutter Brush and Randy in

(23:00):
the world.

Speaker 6 (23:00):
Are you I'm great, Gary, Thank you very much. Happy
Memorial Day weekend.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
To you, Yes sir, yes, sir. It doesn't feel like
Memorial Day weekend down here, and probably where you're at
it doesn't feel like it either. It's been a chilly,
wet spring.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
It's been cool up here in the Northeast as well. Yeah,
plenty of rain and plenty of gutter issues.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
To deal with.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Well, and that's what I really want to talk about too.
I was talking. We talk a lot about gutters on
this show, and we talk a lot about basement issues
and just kind of go through functions of gutters. Why
did there's a lot going on there. It's a catching
an awful lot of rain water from the roof they do.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
Yeah, they're really and I know you've mentioned this. They're
kind of your home's first line of defense against water
damage and try to direct that water, you know, away
from your home, away from the property where it can
cause damage to your roof for siding, or even your
foundation or landscaping if it's not being properly directed away.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
So, yeah, and when your.

Speaker 6 (24:00):
Gutters aren't flowing and functioning, they they can lead to
a lot of a lot of damage from from rotting
facier boards or you know, contributing to mold growth. I
know I heard a previous color talking about mold in
the basement and gutters of the culprit of some of
those things, or basement flooding or even foundation foundation issues
if waters you know, pooling and building up around the edges.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
When she was talking about that mold on that basement walk,
I can almost guarantee as she had clogged gutters, it's
likely it sounded just like an exact problem you would have. So, yeah,
you can get the ladders out there and you can
scoop them out. But that's a that's a nasty job.
I mean it is.

Speaker 6 (24:41):
I've done that dangerous up on the ladder and certainly
no no fun. Most people, unless you're unless you're a
gutter cleaning professional, you're probably not looking forward to getting
up in the ladder and scooping stuff out of your gutters.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
Yeah, for years we've talked about your product, a gutter brush,
and it solves the common gutter problems of gutters that
get clogged up. Explain, first of all, I think the
story of How's invented really also explains how it works,
So it kind of maybe tell us how is invented

(25:14):
and exactly how it works, and very inexpensive, folks.

Speaker 6 (25:18):
It is.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (25:18):
I actually we started the company. It's been a little
over twenty one years ago right now. My dad and
I started the company sort of as an accidental discovery
growing up in Ohio and Pennsylvania. I spent a lot
of time up in a family hunting and fishing cabin
up in Pennsylvania, and one of my first jobs was
to get up on the roof and dig all the
leaves and mud and muck out of the gutters that
would contribute quickly or that would accumulate quickly. And as

(25:42):
I got older and went off to school, my dad
took over that task of maintaining the gutters. And he
found an old we believe it was an old chimney
sweep brush. It was an old like twisted wire brush,
and he thought that might be handy to scrub the
mud and leaves and you know, kind of clean the gutters.
And as luck would have it, he got distracted and
had off the roof and left the brush laying up
over the down spout area and forgot about it until

(26:05):
months later went back up there, and all the gutters
were full of debris as they as they always were
a place where the brush was laying.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
They hadn't clogged.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
The down spot was still flowing, and there may have
been some pine needles or little things sticking in the brush,
but the gutter was still functioning and so that was
kind of how the idea came up about saying, I
wonder if you just came up with a cylinder shaped
brush and filled your gutter, if you could create an
effective filter to keep leaves from flogging and let water
flow through. So that's how it got started back in

(26:34):
two thousand and four, and we've been selling it across
the country in a variety of different sizes and capacities
ever since. And just a very very simple way to
keep gutters flowing and keep most of the leaves from
creating a clog.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Yeah, and in goodness, I think there's two categories of
things that everybody hated. Its ceiling their deck and cleaning
out gutters. And there's a thousand products on each category,
so you always can tell where the big problem is
is where all the products are. But your product really
fills such a void. I mean, you can spend four
and five thousand dollars and put guards on top of

(27:09):
your gutters, and you know, some of them there's nothing perfect,
let's let's put it that way, but they do a
decent job for that cost. And then there's I've seen
foam inserts that fitting gutters and they just elevate the muck,
in my opinion. And I've seen some aluminum things, you know,

(27:30):
gadgets that fit on top of the gutter that get
crinkled up or blown away. I've not had much luck
with that, and neither of a lot of people. And
you came along with this very simple device. They what
are they ate about three feet long, the gutter brushed themselves,
and you just slide them in the gutter.

Speaker 7 (27:51):
That's correct.

Speaker 6 (27:51):
Yeah, we manufacture them, pack them and ship them in
three foot sections and and so that's all there is
to it. Once your gutters are clear, you want to
make sure you clear up, clear out any debris first,
But then you're just sliding three foot sections into your gutters.
They're cut flush on each end, so there's no tools,
nothing to you, no fasteners. You're just sliding them end
to end, kind of creating a filter through your whole

(28:12):
gutter system. And they stay there year round in all
weather conditions that I won't you know, can't promise that
you'd never have any maintenance again, in which I don't
believe any of the systems can can effectively promise that.
But if you ever have any have to address any maintenance,
if you have a certain area that builds up a
little bit every couple of years, you might pull out
some sections and shake them out a little bit and

(28:32):
then slide them back in. But yeah, nothing's fastened, nothing's
under your shingles.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
So it's a very very easy system.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Yeah, super easy to maintain, super simple. And for folks
that are listening and kind of learning about the gutter
brush for the first time, I'm sure one of the
things they're thinking is, well, we just got that season
past where I had maple seed pods or an old
ash tree and they drop those clusters and that they're
sitting on top of the brush, and well, what happens

(29:00):
to those randy.

Speaker 6 (29:02):
A lot of the debris, I mean, like I said,
you will get some little debris that'll stick in top
of the on the top of the brush. Normally, it
doesn't really prevent your gutters from flowing and functioning because
very little can make it down inside the gutter and
it can't collect and clump together into into creating a
blockage for your gutter. So while you may see some
debris on top of the brush from time to time,
natural weather cycles tend to dry most of that out

(29:24):
and it blows away or breaks down into small particles
that can wash through your gutter. So generally, you know,
you might visibly see some debris here and there, but
your your gutters will still flow and function and there's
very very little maintenance. And maintenance is very simple if
and when it's necessary.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Yeah, And I'll tell you if you're if you're a
homeowner and you're paying somebody right now hunt hundred twenty
five dollars to clean your gutters once maybe twice a year.
When you think about the gutter brush, I'm just you
spit ball on a price of say a standard house,
whatever that that is. But you know, and somewhere between

(30:02):
two hundred and twenty five dollars and three hundred bucks,
you can do your whole house.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
Now.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
Gutters are different sizes also, And does the gutter brush
work with different types of roof or sphalt shingles or
tile roofs or metal roofs. Is that work with all
different kinds of roofing?

Speaker 6 (30:21):
It sure does. Yes, That's one of the benefits is
that since there's no fasteners and it's not touching or
interfering with the roofing system, it can it can work
in combination with any sized gutters and any any roofing materials,
because nothing is you're not sliding anything under the shingles
or under any tiles. We've works with slate, cedar, tile, asphalt,

(30:41):
just about any any system that's out there. And as
we mentioned that, we make it in six different diameters now,
so it can protect everything from very very small specialty
gutters as small as you know, two and a quarter
inches as our smallest brush that is typically used for
you know, maybe mobile homes and car ports and sun porches,
all the way up to an eight inch diameter brush
that has been very very popular now for protecting the

(31:04):
large commercial gutters on metal buildings and metal roofing systems
where other systems typical screens and covers generally can't be
used on those types of roofing systems. So it's just
it's very versatile, it can protect any it'll flex and
form into just about any space out there, and just
a very very simple way to keep your gutters flowing.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Yeah, probably the most popular gutter is the five, but
I'm seeing more and more six inch gutters. With a
downfall of rain that we're having, it seems like six
inches get inspected on more and more new homes.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
It is.

Speaker 6 (31:35):
Yeah, for newer homes, the six inches probably the most
common size. But in general, you know, since for twenty
one years now, most traditional homes have probably got a
five inch gutter or five inch K style gutter. If
you need to determine the size of your gutter, you
just basically throw a tape measure or ruler across the
top and if you see a five inch measurement all
the way across that top section, you've got a standard

(31:55):
sized gutter, which is by far the most common for homeowners.

Speaker 1 (31:59):

talk a little home improvement, bettering your home, bettering your investment.
If you've got a question regarding a little maintenance, or
go ahead and give us a call. It's eight hundred
eighty two three A two five five. You know, probably

(38:07):
the room we live in as much as any in
a home is the kitchen, no question about it. If
you entertain, it's the kitchen. And there's some things I
guess I don't know if it's a top ten things,
but ten things that really might impede or give your

(38:30):
kitchen a dated look or not a very nimble feel
to it. And the first thing is and if that
describes your kitchen, then maybe you're thinking about redoing it.
One of the most key points on a kitchen is
the layout. And they always talk about a bad kitchen triangle.

(38:54):
That is, if the sink, stoven, refriger aren't easily accessible
from each other, it can make cooking just frustrating. You know,
you're always moving around. If there's another person helping you,
you're bumping into them. And so the layout is really key,
and a lot of places will do kitchen layouts for

(39:14):
you and really just kind of even if you take
a basement form, put tape and kind of tape out
how big your kitchen is and where different things are going,
if you're really going to shake it up, that's a
good way of kind of getting a feel of a
kitchen layout. The other thing I know that many of

(39:37):
us run into, especially if you have an older home,
is not enough counter space, and not enough counter space
is tough when you're trying to cook and prep the meals.
Lack of storage and a lot of kitchen manufacturers have
really gotten good with creating cabinets. I think that use

(39:59):
the cube of the cabinet with a pool out drawers
rather than just a big base cabinet. But you know,
no pantry, too few cabinets, poor cabinets without the pool
out drawers, where there's a wasted amount of cubes to
store stuff and organization isn't real good. I think probably

(40:21):
the most disorganized part in cabinetry is now with all
the plastic containers. Keeping all that in mind of how
you use your kitchen when you're working with somebody on
creating a layout, and because again it's got a great
return on investment if it's done properly, and you want
to make sure that you know you don't spend all

(40:43):
this money. It's going to look great, but how functional
is it? So focus on counterspace and storage. Bad lighting
is another thing, and that's no excuse anymore. With all
the LED lighting that's available, really a kitchen is just
makes it look dated and food prep difficult. And with

(41:08):
like I said, the LED lightings, the little pennant lightings
that hang down very very cool if you got just
can lights, updating them where it's not an incandescent bulb
or a CFL ball and a can light. But you
can get them now where you can replace the ring.
You can make it all one big beautiful piece. In fact,

(41:31):
you can even get the lighting where you can have
different pigmentations soft white sunlight, daylight with just a switch
in the can lights. So updating the lighting is another thing.
And of course the other one that I was talking
about is cheap materials. If you're going to do a

(41:55):
whole redo of your kitchen, don't do it on the cheap.
I mean, obviously everybody has a budget, but cadmtry is
not the place or flooring not the place to really
cut the budget. Those are the areas that are going
to get the heavyest hues, and that's where you really
want your better products. Ventilation is another thing. Rain should

(42:19):
or poor air circulation not good in a kitchen. It'll
make the without a rain should it even make the
walls dirty or over time. Getting those odors in that
airborne grease out of the kitchen is a you know,
it's a good way to a healthy home. Also, the grout.

(42:43):
If you're keeping the existing floor and it's a tile floor,
you can you can refurbish grout, you can paint grout,
and that's a good way to hide a lot of
imperfections and really dress up. Obviously, a good coat of
pink os a long way. And of course you want
to make sure if you're going into a whole redo

(43:05):
of a kitchen, you know that you don't have a
bunch of mismatched appliances and you know, like a big,
huge stainless steels refrigerator and then a little tiny white
porcelain stuff. You kind of want to keep it as
stylish as you can, updated as you can, and you

(43:26):
don't want it overcrowded. And again just a lot of
good storage space. Keep those things in mind, and when
you're working with a somebody to design your kitchen. Tell
them about your lifestyle. You know, you got kids in
you eat a lot of dinners at home? Do you
not eat a lot of dinners at home? Because lifestyle

(43:47):
really dictates how you're going to put your kitchen together.
You know, Oh the kids have grown up, moved out
and we entertain a lot bingo. That's a different look
of kitchen and maybe a different and lighting. So working
with a good designer, always a good idea, kind of
get pictures, have an idea of a budget, and then

(44:10):
start talking to folks. That's the key to putting a
good looking kitchen together. I hope that helps if that's
on your to do list for later this year. I
hope those ideas help you out a little bit. All right,
let me give you the phone number when we come back,
