(00:52):
And boy, yesterday, it's alot. What we talked about too,
is controlling humidity, making your homemore comfortable, driving down those energy
bills. And I think we'll betalking about that now for about the next
two months, and certainly can helpyou lower those bills and keep your home
a little more comfortable by working oncontrolling the humidity. But many parts of
(01:17):
the country have some really hot weatherand many parts have some really nice weather.
So let's focus on the nice weather. And I'm talking about so many
homes nowadays have decks on your home, and there's still a I think a
big misconception on decks. I thinkwhen they first came out and it's been
(01:40):
you know, press tree wood's beenout for probably fifty years, probably longer
than it, and press treet woodslike Oh, we don't have to do
anything to build a deck. Weonly have to pay, we don't have
to seal it, we don't haveto do anything. It's gonna last forever.
That's not true, as you foundout also, and now we've you
know, we keep transitioning to betterproducts and better products and better products.
(02:05):
And some of the capped composite productsare outstanding. Pricey, but they're outstanding.
So a lot of people kind ofgo back and say, we'll do
a pressure treated wood deck, butwe do have to do some maintenance on
it. We do have to stainit, we do have to seal it,
we do have to clean it,but we don't always do that.
(02:29):
And then what happens when we don'tdo that. The wood turns gray,
the wood may split, the woodgrain may raise, you may get splinters
in it. So we've got todo some maintenance. So let's talk about
the maintenance in general. So pressuretree wood's infused with a treatment to keep
(02:53):
moisture from running, wood keeps insectsfrom borrowing into it. And what really
does damage on wood? I'm presssure it. Wood is actually the UV
raised of the sun. So alot of deck seilers we're trying to minimize
that sun beating that wood up andyou know, making it look nice,
(03:14):
making it look like seedar, makingit look like redwood, making it look
like a canyon brown deck. Somepeople even stain their decks where it's gray,
where it looks more natural. Buta pressure treated wood that is stained.
And there's different types of stains whichwe'll get into, but probably the
most popular stain would be a semitransparent stain. A semi transparent stain doesn't
(03:40):
look like paint. It looks likea wood stain that you would put on
furniture. You can see the woodgrain. It looks natural. Problem with
a semi transparent it soaks into thewood and that's great. That provides the
protection, but there's not a lotof solids in it, so it does
(04:01):
block you V rays out, butnothing like house paint would block youv raise.
So you're visiting that deck maybe everytwo to four years. Hopefully you're
doing it that often, especially inreally sunny locations. I mean, that's
what you're gonna have to do ina really sunny location two to four years
(04:23):
for sure, and restaining it,cleaning it and restaining it. You don't
have to sand. It's not gonnapeel. It's soaked into the woods,
So you just apply another could ofstain. What we're seeing now is people
that have ignored that deck, orsomeone has ignored that deck, and you
bought this house and you've got thisdeck on the beck, and it looks
(04:44):
terrible. Like I said, thewoods split, the wood grain is raised,
and if you put a semi transparenton that, well, that's exactly
what it's gonna look like. It'sstill gonna be splintered, it's still gonna
be cracked. Grain's still gonna beraised. It's just gonna be a nicer
looking color. So some people arelooking at a solid color staying now,
(05:05):
that's totally different than a semi transparent. Semi transparent's going in and soaking into
the wood. Solid kind of lookslike paint. It's more of a coating.
But by being a coating, ithides some of those imperfections. It
makes it more consistent in color, but you kind of lose the look of
(05:29):
the wood grain. It's kind oflike painted furniture, if you will.
So the advantage to it is,since it's a solid there's more UV protection.
You don't have to do it asoften as a semi transparent, so
sometimes on older decks people migrate tothat, which is fine. Then there's
(05:50):
products out there that just are designedto cover the wood. It's more than
a solid color stain. It's morethen a paint. It's actually a coating.
It's a very thick coating that's goingto hide and cover up raised wood,
grains, split woods. And it'smore of a stopgap product, meaning
(06:12):
you put this on four or fiveyears, that's it. You replace the
floor of the deck. It isjust designed to get you a few more
years. Not a big fan ofit, does what it says, but
everybody, not everybody, but alot of people use it in the wrong
situation or they say, hey, work for four years, I'll get another
(06:39):
four years out of it. Youwon't, You won't, you won't.
It's hard to get it to bondto the wood because it's so thick and
we have pressure treet wood. Butit's out there to buy you some time
before you have to replace that deck. And it looks good, a little
(06:59):
expensive, little laborious to apply, but it's it will buy you a few
years whatever you do. If youuse that product, follow the directions for
application to the letter of the law. Because, like I said, it's
tough for that to bite into thatpressurecuted wood. So what type of stain
(07:23):
do I use? You might ask. You go to the hardware store,
you go to the paint store. There's all different kinds. Probably you know
in a lot of states now wedon't have solvent based stains. We have
modified alct acrylics. We have latexstains, and latex stains don't soak into
(07:49):
the wood as much as the oldoil based stains, but we can help
that process. And in acrylic stainsor water based stains, they offer even
better fade protection, better resistance tothe UV rays. But we got to
do an extra step to make surethat again bites onto that would so if
(08:13):
you use in and I would dothis in all honesty, I'd do this
no matter what kind of stain Iused. It used to be talked in
circles of just using it for awater base, but even the modified alcat
acrylics, I'd use it. Soyou're gonna clean it, You're gonna use
a sodium percarbonate, which is oxygenatedbleach powder, mix with water, put
(08:37):
it onto deck let it sit forI don't know, five ten minutes,
scrub it, hoose it off,and then you're gonna let it dry,
and then you're gonna apply a deckbreaker. That's the extra step. A
deck brightener is an oxalic acid woodbleach open up the pores of the wood,
(09:01):
accepts, accepts the stain into thewood. Deeper into the wood gets
more clinging power. And that's theextra step. And so I would do
that with all your deck stings.Just add that extra step. It'll help
(09:22):
with the adhesion. All right, let me give you the phone number.
We'll take your calls regarding your homeimprovement projects. Plus, I got some
tips I want to share with youtoday. We're also going to talk about
critters in your house. Ron Krueger, Yep, he'll be joining us once
again. It's bat season and inabout an hour and fifteen minutes Ron will
be joining us talking about the damagethat bats can do in your home,
(09:46):
the precautions you want to take, and how to get rid of them.
And if you're sitting there right nowand you're going, well, I see
where they're flying out of my attic, I'll just patch that hole. Don't
do that. No, don't dothat. You'll be sorry because they can't
get out and then they get honkedoff, and then your house is going
to pay the price. So don'tdo that. That's a little tip.
(10:09):
And we're also going to talk aboutsealing asphalt driveways. The products have changed
over the years. The products areso much better, kind of like what
we were just talking about deck stains. And so we'll educate you a little
bit of what's out there in themarketplace and how to apply. Plus we'll

Pete. Pete welcome, Good morning, Gary, Thanks for all your many
years of good advice. Thank you, sir. Real quick. I have
(13:50):
a ten year old composite deck that'slooking a little tired. You mentioned oxygenated
bleach in the past. End today. Is that something I can use on
that. You can, you can. You know, the composite decking has
got a long history peat, someof it good and some of it not
so good. What's really made compositedecking the ground jewel now is the capped
(14:16):
composite with like a PBC cap onit where it takes the wood out of
plate entirely. I say that becausethere is a some of the old composite
decking. I think it was thetrecks they in an issue they called it
tiger tiger spots or something like that. It was kind of mold that was
(14:37):
embedded into the comp into the compositedecking, which is a difficult thing to
remove, but it can be removed. And again a good quality sodium procarbonate
or oxygenated bleach will take that out. Again, a powder mixed with water,
put it on, let it sitand then scrub in rents and it'll
(15:00):
take out you know, it'll it'llclean that up for sure. Okay,
there's that sustainable then thereafter yeah, good question. Not every deck stain has
a composite stain. In fact, that's why we put composite decking on our
decks, for you wouldn't have tohave to stain it. But in some
(15:20):
cases it just faded out so bad. I mean, I hate to even
talk bad about it because it's justchanged so dramatically in the last ten to
fifteen years. We don't have theseproblems anymore. If you all composite decking,
it would almost turn almost like aconcrete color and from the fading and
different things like that, and youclean it up, and it is beneficial
(15:43):
to stain it. There's a coupleof brands that have composite tecking staining products.
One of them would be cab It. One of them would be Defy
Defy. It's Defied woodstain dot com. You can get it online, do
it best stores. But yeah, you can stand it out stands out kind
(16:03):
of just like wood. Okay, thank you again for your advice. All
right, very good, Bete. Thanks thanks for the call. Appreciate all
right, let's go to David.David. Welcome, all righty, good
morning, How are you? Goodmorning? I'm fine, Thank you.
Listen. I have bought some newrescue fly traps stick up cons yes,
(16:30):
sir, and two or three weeksago and I have caught a total of
about three flies. I don't knowwhat's going on now. I put up
a hang in one by the garbagecans, and God, that's work.
That one's working. Great. IsMy problem is I have Mackelar degeneration and
(16:52):
I can't use the computer. Andwhen I call their number, I get
that rotary call, you know, telling you to use email or whatever to
communicate. I don't use email anymore. Can you help me out with a
number to call? Boy? Ican. I probably got the same number
you got, it would to answeryour question, David, I don't have
(17:14):
a number that I can give youright now. I would just you know,
I can give you a number. In fact, I can look it
up during the break and it wouldbe the number that would be on their
website now, and I understand youyou can't see that, So I can
help you out there for sure.Yeah. So I'm appreciate whatever help I
(17:37):
can get. You know, Iwas really impressed with a guy I listened
to when who was on your show. Now, you know, I really
appreciate what they're doing and how theyattack the problem with you know, different
you know, insects and stuff.Uh huh. Yeah, their research is
really outstanding and how they come upwith some of these Yeah, I don't
(18:03):
understand what I'm doing wrong. Iput I have a porch colored porch,
and I put two up on thatporch and scared they're not catching, doesn't
you know? I mean I feeda couple of cats out here and bought
the class just warm that, youknow. Mm hm m m. Yeah.
(18:26):
I don't know, because there's prettysimple device, right, I mean,
it just sticks on horizontal vertical overheadsurfaces. I think, if I'm
not mistaken that particular trap. Theytalk about using it away from the actual
problem area rather than right in theproblem area. I don't know if that
(18:48):
would have anything to do with itor not. Well, one of them
drive over one of the cat bolts, and the other ones are kind of
a wife from it, and likeI say, I'm just not catching anything,
but I still have a bad problemwith it, you know. All
right, Well, I'll tell youwhat. Let me look that up.
What we're gonna do is we're goingto have a little conversation regarding ceiling asphalt

I've been recommending Blackjack driveway sealers foryears, and here's some great news.
The Blackjack ten year Sealer drive Maxone thousand features accelerated drying time and
curing in cooler temperatures. Drive Maxone thousand adds curb appeal, delivering a
light, new black finish and isyour a thane enhanced for the longest life.
Drive Max one thousand available at Low'shome depot, True Value ace in

protecting driveways for over one hundred years. All right, back at it we
(22:41):
go thirty three minutes after the topof the R. I know a project
many of us tackle around our homeis sealing the sphalt driveway. Well,
there's boys that that project has changeda lot, folks, if it's been
a while. We have Amanda Pools. She's going to join us and talk
about the new products at black JackCoatings and the new products throughout that whole
(23:07):
industry. And Amanda welcome that homewith Gary Gary Sullivan once again. How
you doing? Hello, I'm doingwell, Gary? How about yourself?
Great? You know, I kindof spin back, but it's not like
they're new. They've been out fora while now. But boy, ceiling
an asphalt driveway. We were jokingabout it this morning. It was an
(23:29):
every year process. It was coldtar. It was always done on like
the hottest day of the year. And man, now it's just changed so
much. Can you just talk alittle bit before we get into actually how
to use these products, just whatthe transition's been in asphalt ceiling. Yeah?
Absolutely, I mean to your point, no one really thinks about resealing
(23:52):
their driveway until you know summer isofficially here. So now it's hot out,
you're inviting people over, you wantthem in your home. You want
your face to look as good asit possibly can. So the the olden
days, I guess you would say, yeah, uh, it would be
you know, a full weekend projectand a really nasty cultar. You gotta
stir, you gotta apply, you'regonna want to dry a few days in
between. It was just a reallylong drawn out Melle's sticky, icky process.
(24:15):
Uh So these days with Blackjacks, technology kind of formulated to make it
a one day project. That's muchsimpler for anyone to do. Correct,
Correct, I mean it really is. I you say olden days, I
was there. That was that wasmy probject. I would love that was
my project. So are these uhthey like the Blackjack codings? Are these
(24:40):
like acrylics now, so yeah,so they're essentially modified acrylics, I guess.
So they're all encapsulated asphalt. Soit's a little better for the environment
for you, you know, applyingit, but it still has that durability
and it's much easier to work withand clean up and all of that.
So and my painting background always tellme that if it's a kryllak, it's
(25:02):
less it's more fade resistant. AndI think a lot of times we used
to just do our driveway just becauseit looked better after it was done.
It was a nice shade of blackto the new acrylics last much longer,
right, So that's why I sayit's more modified. So it's actually got
you know, asphalt in it,but it's also got Eurosane enhancement as well,
(25:22):
so it makes a little bit moredurable, it makes it look a
sharper shade of black longer, andit actually you know, provides some feeling
to your driveways me not just paintingit. You know. Well, I
know a lot of folks in thehardware business, and I know it's a
it's still kind of a summertime project, but I know you're Blackjack drive Max
one thousand. You've got it whereits really can be a much more extended
(25:47):
season, correct, correct, Yeah, So the ten year feeler, that's
the one that's Eurotan enhanced. Italso has what we call a climate field
technology. The most driveway feeler isyou need to wait until it's about sixty
five degrees and rising to do yourdriveway. We try to make your life
a little bit easier and so nowyou can play it on forty five degrees.
You can get a little bit aheadof the season, or if you
(26:10):
procrastinate in your you know it's alreadysummer. You want to enjoy it for
the year and then do it inthe fall. You've got a little bit
of the longer time frames to beable to do your projects. Yeah.
Yeah, And I bet it drivesa lot faster, and the old stuff
too, It's very true. Sowe have a fast dry technology as well,
so it's put traffic ready in justone hour and then vehicle ready after
(26:30):
twenty four to forty eight hours, depending on your drying conditions. Amanda,
I think you know, I meanI love the Blackjack drive Max one thousand.
I think I started talking about it. It's probably been ten years now,
maybe eight. I don't know timeflies, but you have you really
have something for everyone. Can youjust kind of give us an overview of
(26:52):
the product line and then let's focuson the Drive Max one thousand. Yeah,
absolutely so, our black Tacks DriveMac series. We have several warranty
products or anything from two year upto ten year. Two five, seven,
ten are kind of the bread andbutter of the assortment. You're basic
two in five year sealers are morelikely old formulas where it's just a generic
(27:15):
tar and sediment. You have tostir it and mix it pretty well before
you use it. It does nothave the fast drive technology or some of
the enhancements to make it look asblack and shiny, but it's a more
cost effective, easy way to dothat. You just want to know a
quick refresh every couple of years,or it's also better suited for high traffic
areas or any steep incline. Sometimesthat grittier texture is just better. The
(27:36):
seven the ten year formulas are gelenhanced and gel modified, and that's where
it's got all the nice additives toit that make it simpler to apply.
It's really like stirring it with apaint stick. You don't have to get
like a pattle mixer or anything. The sediment doesn't settle, it's expended in
that gel, so it's really userfriendly. That gel also is what makes
it look to have almost that oillike finish that you used to be able
(27:56):
to apply back in the day thatno one can have any moortions. The
sevenute ten just kind of give itthat shinier finish. Wow. Okay,
so let's start the project preparation.Preparation, preparation. Whenever you're dealing with
a coating, it's all about thepreparation as much as it is the product.
So can you walk us through.Let's use the drive Max one thousand,
(28:18):
the Blackjack drive Max one thousand.Let's start with the basic prep work.
Hose it off, scrub it off. What do we need to do?
Yeah, but everything cleaning is key. So basically a pressure washer or
a good sweepier driveway to remove anyloose debris or sediment that might be there,
and then also give any oil stains, you know, try to scrub
(28:41):
in a degreaser, you know, simple dish so fors really well there and
give that time to kind of comeup and pressure wash again. So you've
got a nice clean driveway there, and then you want to fill in any
cracks on your surface. So theBlackjack lineup has three different sizes of crack
fillers. Got a calking tube,a poorable gallon, and like a travelble
(29:03):
mastic so good for you know, small holes to pinhole cracks, whatever is
best suited for your driveway. Soafter you've cleaned thoroughly, you go around,
you hit all those spots in yourdriveway with the speed filled crack fillers
Blackback Specifically, those fillers are readyin one hour, ready to coat in
one hour, so you could startthis project in the morning and then by
lunchtime you know you're ready to startapplying to coating. So with the calking
(29:26):
tube and the mastic beef for cracksthat are you know, more than a
quarter inch, a little larger cracks, and then the pourable out of the
gowns for kind of the hairline cracksexactly. So the calking tube we say
up to about one inch the hairlineis about three quarter inch for the poorable
pillars. And then the speed patchmastic is just for any small holes.
(29:47):
You know, we're we're not sellinga pothole with that, but you know,
any smaller divot that might need alittle bit more love. Okay,
okay, so we got it cleanedand we've got it patched, and you
say that patch and calking about anhour, yep, yep are fast fast
Stride technology that's in the ten yearsteiler is also in those ceilings. So
again we're trying to make this processeasy for you. Yeah, I think
(30:08):
you're doing a good job. Soso on the on the drive Max one
thousand, Uh, you said theaggregate is suspended in gels, So does
this mean I don't have to stirit? You would give it a light
stir, but it's more in linewith like a paint stick, you know
(30:29):
what you would just do with agallon of paint. So it's not so
much like to leave it used toleave it upside al, let that setiment
settle overnight. Then you even haveto get like a pattle mixer to it.
So none of that anymore. It'smuch easier with the jail formula.
You just kind of whip it up. It's almost like it's how the shaving
cream. All right, So uhwe we kind of started up and now
(30:49):
we're gonna apply that and do youapply it just like you did with the
old applicators where it was like abrown fibered bristle and nena squad also,
yep, absolutely, so you couldsqueegee it and then work it into any
like troublesome areas with that brush.Absolutely, and so you want to go
work your driveway with this with alldriveway feel. But it's really two same
(31:12):
clots are recommended. That is reallykey to getting that TENS warranty. So
you start in one direction in yourdriveway, you know, work horizontally down
it and then give that about anhour and then you can recode perpendicular to
that for the second coat. Okay, so it'll be a two step process,
but it's a lot easier and itdrives a lot faster. Correct by
(31:33):
the time you get from one endof your driveway to the other, go
inside, have this not come backout. You're ready to get that second
code down. I'm sure as they'relistening to us, a man, everybody's
going like, so it's a gel. It still pours out of the container.
And do I spread it with asqueegee or do I spread it with
the broom? Yeah, you spreadit with a squeegee. It applies pretty
well. Again, that depends onthe surface of your driveway, and you
(31:55):
know how long you really waited todo this, So you know, the
brush might be a little bit moreeasy or more helpful if you're working it
into some looks and grannies. Butif you've got a relatively smooth surface still
and you just want to freshen itup and you stay on top of this
every year, you could seade thatand make a really simple process and that's
going to last me ten years. It is, you know, with ideal
(32:16):
weather conditions, I will say thatwas a great assault. So as long
as you follow all the directions, you do the proper prep work in the
pack, and when you fly thetoo thin coats as we recommend on a
nice, warm, sunny day,it should last your ten years. Wow.
That being said, you know,a harsh winter, really rainy season,
sometimes you know you might want togo back and just hit it with
another coat in a few years, but that would just be a one coat
(32:38):
refresh. So well, listen toanything over two years is a bonus for
me, absolutely right. Yeah,And the tenure formula really is it's made
to last as long as it possiblycan, so you really have to worry
about that. Well, that's outstanding. I guess it's a combination of
the acrylics and the your thane inthere that keeps it basically resistant, right
(33:01):
exactly that urrothane and has some Uthe inhibitors in it too. So it
really that that formula specifically is beetedup to where you're not happy to do
this every couple of years. Well, so I'm done and that's it,
so that you could do that inone day. Now you've got the whole
summer ahead of you, and yourfamily's gonna be so impressed at how good
(33:21):
the house looks, and it's reallybragged to get slaved away over it and
know that, like no, Ijust took off early and had a couple
of years. Absolutely absolutely, Sowhere do we find the Blackjack drive Max
one thousand? I see it atmy local waste store. I know they
got it, absolutely and pretty muchwe are are naturally you know, recognized
brand here, so you can findit. Any of your local hardware stores
(33:44):
will be able to get your handson it. Absolutely awesome. So when
can I drive on it? Iwould give it, you know, twenty
four to forty eight hours in drytime hour from foot traffic is what we
say. But you want to avoiddriving for twenty to forty eight hours if
it's like, you know, kindof a cloudy day, give it a
little bit longer, just a windtracking of marking. Okay, well,
(34:07):
I'll tell you what what used tobe a pretty hateful project. It sounds
like you have made it a wholelot easier, and we can do it
in the day. We don't haveto worry about the stuff splashing on our
legs and burning us, because that'sexactly no one middles like clean it up
and we want to dry. Butyou're you're in a pretty good shape,
you know, soap and water whileit's wet, it's very easy to work
(34:29):
with. Essentially, did the paintthe wall? You could paint a driveway
a five gallon pail, folks,is what's sold in? And how how
about the coverage on that? Yeah, so again depending on the surface,
but you're looking at about you know, two hundred and fifty square feet per
five gallon pail, okay, averageagain, it's right right, Well,
(34:52):
everybody puts it on at different coatinglevels too, but generally two hundred fifty
square feet. Yeah, so,but two thing coats again, like,
don't don't try to pilot on andskip it and just do one thick coat
because it'll ever dry right on right, don't get lazy with it. We've
already made it really easy. Don'tcut the rules right right right. We
(35:16):
don't want you tracking that all overthe place, folks. If you'd like
more information, the website they haveis Blackjack Coatings dot com and of course
you'll find the drive Max one thousandthat a man and I are just speaking
of, Amanda, Thanks for joiningus. I appreciate I hope we've inspired
everybody. I hope so too.Gary. It's a pleasure talking to you
(35:37):
as a thank you. Take careof course. All right? Uh how
about that that does and it doesspreads. It's probably been a few years
since I used that, but I'mtelling you, with that squeegee, that
stuff spreads so much better than theold cold tar. I mean, it
(35:58):
is a project worth tackling. Allthese projects with seals and coatings, and
I'm telling you, from paint toconcrete sealers to asphalt seers, they're just
they've just gotten so much easier touse, and it's well worth a good
DIY project and protect that investment. All right, our phone number if you'd

(39:22):
here we go, nine minutes beforethe top of the hour at home with
Gary Sullivan. We actually talked withMandy yesterday, but I felt it was
so interesting and you see how productscontinue to grow and more green products are
brought to market, and really,in a lot of cases they're so much
(39:44):
better. It used to be whenthey bring real green products to market,
they weren't really that good. Butnowadays the green products are outperforming the old
standby products. I wanted to sharethat with you once again, and I
hope you enjoyed it. A lotof good information there. By the way,
David, you were looking for therescue product's phone number. I found
(40:06):
their main phone number. It's eighthundred sixty six six six seven sixty six.
Now they're not going to be theretoday, but you can give him
a call on Monday again. Letme give it to you. The rescue
phone number David is eight hundred sixsix six sixty seven sixty six, eight
(40:29):
hundred sixty sixty six sixty seven sixtysix. All right, and let's see
Mike was hanging on. He wantedto talk about crown moing. Something that
I said, you don't want toput crown molding up or something. He
hung up. It's too bad.I wanted to he had that discussion.
I don't think I ever said thatI love crown molding, absolutely love crown
molding. However, and Caroen,I get to you in a second.
(40:52):
However, this time of year, when we have that transitioning from a really
dry weather to really moist weather, humidity and all that in the wintertime,
is our homes dry out. Alot of times we'll get a space that
opens up between the crown molding andthe ceiling. And sometimes it's from lower
(41:15):
humidity. Sometimes it's from what theycall trust lift. The trust is actually
pulling up on the ceiling and it'sactually creating a separation. There are tie
downs for trusses. There's also calkingwe can use. You definitely want to
do that calcking in the winter timewhen that gap is there, you want
(41:35):
to use a paintable, siliconized acrilly cocking. That would be really ideal.
We've also had people put crown moldingup and actually attach it to the
ceiling so it moves with the trustlift. I've seen that done, but
I've never heard said anything about notputting crown molding up. I think crown
(41:57):
molding is beautiful, great way toreally if you buy a not necessarily a
starter home, but you know,a track home where there's a lot of
homes that are similar. A lotof those are, you know, I
mean, they're priced to get peopleinto a house, but maybe they're not
custom built homes where they have thecrown molding in the window casings and all
(42:20):
that. But those are great additionsto a house. The longer you live
in that house and can afford littlenicer things and start incorporating into your living
quarters, I think they're beautiful. All right, here's our phone number.
It's eight hundred eight two three eighttwo five five. Karen, Welcome,
Jerry, Hello, I have abuggy problem. All right. I bought
(42:43):
some bananas, I left them onthe counter and they had friends to come
to visit. They're little black, tidy things that I don't know how to
get rid of them. They're readyall through the house. Well, you
know, they're called fruit flies, and they're attracted obviously to fruit. They're
(43:04):
also attracted to the color red.I know, bananas aren't red, but
they like the color red. Youcan create you can buy traps that you
can buy fruit fly traps the samepeople that we talk about a lot of
insect traps called rescue. And itlooks like a little red apple and there's
a little bait you put in thereand there they gravitate to that. That's
(43:25):
one idea. The other idea isyou can get a little petri dish or
a little small dish, and youcan put a little apple cider vinegar in
there, a little bit of water, a little drop or two of liquid
soap, and a little red foodcoloring and they'll fly right into that dish
and because they're attracted to it,and with the smell of that cider applesider,
(43:50):
they'll be attracted to it and thenthey can't fly out. So again,
it's apple cider, vinegar, water, a couple drops at down,
a couple of ops of red foodcoloring and you'd be set to go.
All right. Thank you much forthe call. I appreciate it. I
hope that helps, and I feelcertain it will feel certain. It will
talk about a lot of different favoriteproducts, and of course I got a
