Speaker 1 (00:30):
Well, it's the weekend. Welcome aboard at home with Gary Sultan.
Thanks for joining me, and uh, well, we've got about
a little bit of time at least to take your
calls regarding your home projects. Feel free to join us.
It's eight hundred eight two three eight two five five
and we'll lead off with Bob. Bob. Welcome, Thanks Gary,

(00:52):
How you doing doing fine? Thank you?

Speaker 2 (00:55):
All right, Hey, I just have a suggestion for the guy.
It's the ball point ten. Yes, sir, I got a
little story here. I had a grandkid that was about
two years old at the time, and we had a
touch and love seat that was microfiber. It was a
light color, and he wrote all over that I love seat.

(01:19):
I mean on the cushions, on the back of it,
on the back of the back, on the eyey.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
It was a nightmare. And I said, oh my gosh,
am I gonna have to throw this away. Well, I
worked for a foreigner furniture store here in town for years,
a long time ago, and I knew one of the
managers and I called him. I said, my gonna throw
this thing away. He goes, Nope, he said, go to
the hardware store. It's denatured alcohol. Not regular alcohol, but
denatured alcohol.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
He said, take cotton balls and just get.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Them wet and just dab it.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Said you don't have to rub it or nothing, just
dab it. And he said it will disappear like maggot,
and he was right.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
I'd, well, that's another.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
What the difference is between alcohol and d natured alcohol.
But I'll tell you what it was like, no big
deal at all, and it really point, I mean blue
ball point pen. I tried a couple of things on
it enough when we budget it right and I help him.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
I mentioned the first one I had was hair spray,
and I would think that would be like a rubbing alcohol.
I don't know what's in that. I don't know if
it's dnatured alcohol, but I had kind of that same thing.
Somebody told me to use that and I sprayed it on.
It was on drywall, wasn't on fabric, and I literally
took a washcloth and wiped it away. It went oh yeah,

(02:39):
so yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Well when I ended up, I ended up using a
washpot on that too, a white wash off and uh.
I tried cotton balls and it's like, you know, this
is gonna.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
This couldn't take weight. I know it works way, that's right.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah, yeah, So I got a white wash offs and
the and I barely touched it to rub it, you know,
but I mean it came right off and you will
tell it was ever there.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Well, super, I.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Don't know, Like I said, I don't know the difference
between alcohol and D nature. I don't know what the
difference is. But he said, just make sure it's D
nature alcohol. He said, you can get in any hardware
store and no big deal. Hey, okay, well I'll tell
you what that was like magic.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
So very good, Bob. Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it.
I don't have a good one. Care you bet my mind?
All right, Tom, I want to read this. I don't
know it was either the fellow that called talked about roofing,

(03:39):
and uh, it was on Saturday, and he wrote me
an email and I kind of want to pass it along.
And I'm not going to name the company because I
don't know if it's true. But I'll bet my hot

(03:59):
foot Sunday on it that it is true. So let
me set this up. Fella called and said, listen, I've
got a roof I need to have it replaced, and
I got I got three estimates. That's what you always say, Gary,
And I got an estimate I think you said, like

(04:20):
eighteen thousand dollars, and one for seventeen thousand dollars and
one for sixty thousand dollars. And so we hit a
whole conversation of what's in the what's in the estimate,
what would they be doing, et cetera, et cetera. And
they said the sixty thousand dollars was from a national

(04:44):
company and it was a proprietary roofing. Okay, all right,
I don't know. I don't see him, I just hear them.
And anyway, I went on to say, well that's why
you get three estimates. You can get educated, you can
ask questions, et cetera, et cetera. So, having said that,
setting it up, I get this an email from Tom

(05:09):
who said, hey, do your listeners a favor. You had
a call about roofing bids, and I got a story
for you. He said, there is a company, national company
that they make really no and you know this can

(05:30):
be in any field, doesn't have to be roofing. They
absolutely make no attempt to provide a competitive bid. They
just toss out a number. There's two salespeople on the call.
They push hard for an appointment, they don't leave, so
apparently they're knocking on the door. They don't leave once
they're in your home. They use proprietary materials, and it's

(05:51):
all a bunch of bull. Yeah, I grant. First of all,
if you get yourself in a situation where somebody gets
in your house and there you know they're not gonna leave,
that's a problem. Get him out of the house, or
call somebody to get him out of the house, all right.
Then he goes on to say he had a family
relative and they found this particular company online and he

(06:18):
only had that bid and he had accepted it. So
twelve hundred square foot ranch, it was thirty thousand dollars.
Now we know that's very inflated. And now he has
a thirty thousand dollars mortgage on his house, so he
bought the roof. His roof should cost ten thousand dollars.

(06:43):
The relative, seventy five years old, everage intelligent, but knows
nothing about roofs, also has a personal friend in another city.
As a large one story the roof should cost thirty
thousand dollars had been was sixty thousand, same company. Two

(07:04):
salespeople wouldn't leave the house until he signed a contract. Finally,
his friend's wife yelled at him until they left again.
Average intelligence looked online for a roofer, doesn't know a
whole lot about construction. Please tell your listeners there's companies

(07:25):
that do that. Three bids is a must, and ask
for neighbors recommendations on who they used. That's important. That's
a good lesson. It's a hard lesson, but I wanted
to kind of pass that on and thank you Tom
for writing me that. I certainly appreciate it. All right,

(07:47):
let's go to Jack Jack Welcome, Hey Gary, Yes, sir.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah, I live in Independence and I have a it's about.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
A seven year old house and it's all PDC drain
type and all my drains smell. So I took a
flash light and flashed it in there, and there's like
a black gunk on all of them.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
How do I get rid of that?

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Well, it's a biofilm and it's sticky because everything we use,
including liquid dish soap, is kind of kind of sticky,
and it starts picking up bacteria and the bacteria smells
and so what you want to use is is a
microbe that eats bacteria. And so if you go to

(08:36):
the hardware store, you'll find drain cleaners that have acid bases.
Don't buy that you want, uh, and then they'll be
even Draino makes one, that master Cam makes one. There's
one called Drainbow, and what it is is it's it's
a microbe or a bacilius, a good bacteria that eats

(08:59):
the bad bacteria. You mix it up with with the drainbow.
I know, you like pull up the stopper, put the
plug in and fill it up with warm water and
you pour xyz amount of the drainbow in there. You
let's sit for about ten minutes. Still it's activated, and
you pull the plug and you don't use that sink
till the morning. And that I'm sorry, And that MicroB

(09:23):
or that bacteria eats that gunk eats that biofilm. There's
also one for like bathtubs where there's a closed plumbing system, right,
and it's called Awesome. You could go to their website too.
It probably works on drains just as well. It's a
phenomenal product for like those spat tubs, and it's A

(09:47):
A H S O m E dot com.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Okay, does any store sell it?

Speaker 1 (09:57):
You know, the awesome nuh oh? I think that. Well,
there's some pool and spa stores that sell you go
to their website.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
A H H Yeah, it's a H H s O
E dot com A H.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
H S O m me dot com. There'll be a
store locator on there.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Okay, all right, right, and that that work with the
bathroom draams good?

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Then right?

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Double check me on that, I think so. I know
it's originally was created for closed plumbing systems like uh
spa bathtubs, wash machines, dishwashers, but it would kill the biofilm.
I I don't know how I haven't used that for
the dreams. I've actually used it on the washer and

(10:42):
it did a marvelous job. And if you can't use
it on the drains, it'll say so, but I'm sure
you can otherwise. Again, get one of those products in
a hardware store. I found this awesome does a really
really good job with that black. It almost looks like jello.
I mean right, it's hard to penetrate and bleach doesn't

(11:03):
do it. It can't penetrate it rain.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
No I tried everything, and it doesn't it just comes
back or it smells getting in a couple hours, you know, yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Yeah, check that website. I think that would be the ticket.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
All right, thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (11:18):

let's go to David. David welcome.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
Yes, we have a five bedroom colonial and every month
it seems like something's going wrong and we have to
keep repairing. So we are thinking of just getting getting
some land and buying a trailer and going off grid.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
There you go.

Speaker 7 (15:15):
What do you think about that?

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Well, if you don't want to repair your ause, I
guess it's an option.

Speaker 8 (15:22):
What would you recommend?

Speaker 1 (15:25):
I don't know what the question is.

Speaker 8 (15:28):
Well, like.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
Just a trailer and a fireplace.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
No, I think if you want to get out of
the entire home improvement taking care of a place, I
think you just rent a place, go run an apartment.
You know a lot of people don't realize when you
buy a home, and even a new home, it requires work.
I mentioned last week. You know, when a house goes

(15:59):
into foreclosure, it is absolutely amazing to me how fast
that house deteriorates. The shutters will rot, they'll fall off
the house. It's amazing. The gutters sag and the water
gets in the foundation, the basement leaks, and there's a
you know, don't buy a house. If you don't want

(16:19):
to fix a house, don't want to buy a house.
If you don't want to maintain a house, don't buy
a condo. If you don't want to maintain a condo,
don't buy a trailer. If you don't want to do
maintenance on that trailer, rent I mean, that's the answer,
because even if we buy a car, you're going to

(16:43):
pay to do maintenance on it. It's that simple. And
you know, I still you know. I sat on the
board at Habitat for Humanity for ten years and was
the board chair for three and one of the things
that kind of surprised me was a lot of the

(17:06):
families had never owned houses. That was a lifetime goal
that they were achieving by building their house and learning
about the house and a habitat. We took great responsibility
of educating how to maintain a house. I remember writing
guidelines and tip sheets and giving them the homeowners because

(17:30):
they never had to do that. And if you're going
to own a house, you have to know how to
do it. One of my lasting memories was talking about
changing filters and furnaces and the homeowner who was in
the process of building her home with great volunteers and

(17:51):
it's a wonderful organization and bringing them up to speed.
You're buying a home, You're not in an apartment. You're
not going to call somebody to fix it. And she goes,
I didn't know that had a filter. I said, yeah,
why would you write? I mean, yeah, you never were
responsible for Why would you know that? And she goes,

(18:12):
I don't even know where it is. I said, well,
it's in the air handler described and I said, there's
different sizes. Take it to the hardware store. They'll help you.
They'll explain different filter. Really, and I'm not making light
of this. I think it's it's a huge responsibility for
us that were helping people become homeowners to educate them

(18:32):
on how to take care of the investment that they
were making. And if you're not feeling that and you're
going to buy your own home on your own and
not have help building it, where you learn a lot,

(18:53):
you've got to assume a lot of responsibility to protect
that investment. And if you're not wanting to do that,
or don't have the financial wherewithal to hire people to
do that, or you have no clue how to do it,
maybe renting is the key. And I always say that's
why we have options in life. There's something for everybody.

(19:16):
All right, let's take a little break, we come back
we got Don and Bill as we continue. You're at

and there's always home projects and if you don't want
to do them. I think in thirty nine years of
doing that, I only told one person put their house
for sale. Hooray for me. But it was like, yeah,

(22:58):
just put it up for sale. You know, we've tried everything.
All right, Let's get back to the phone. So enough
of that. Our phone number, by the way, if you'd
like to join us, we've got spots for you. It's
eight hundred eight two three eight two five five and
Daniel grib the line, and we'll get you back to
work in no time. Let's go to don Don Welcome.

Speaker 8 (23:18):
Hi, Hi Gary, how you doing doing fine good? I've
got a question. I don't know if there's a solution
for it. My house was built in the nineteen seventies,
so I've got a well established lawn and so consequently
you know all the contours and everything I do have

(23:39):
a bit of a hill on the front, not not
a major hill, but there are, Like I said, there
are a few contours, and a couple of years ago,
due to health reasons, I've decided to have someone do
my lawn for me. And my problem is is that

(23:59):
I guess you know, pretty much any lawn service because
of their workload, they do my front yard with a
zero turn as well as the backyard. The problem is
with these couple of contours in my lawn, the zero
turn goes almost down to the dirt in a couple

(24:20):
of places. So you know, I don't I haven't asked
these guys, but I don't think they would cut it
with a push mahor and so every time they cut
the grass through no fall over their own.

Speaker 7 (24:35):
I guess you know, I've.

Speaker 8 (24:36):
Got these spots. The rest of the yard looks good.
I keep it treated and all that, but I don't
know how to resolve this or if there's a way to.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Well, there's probably two ways too. A is fill those areas,
fill those swales, kill the grass in that area, fill
it graded plant seed so that it's not going to
scalp it. Or the other option is to handcut it.

(25:09):
I mean, that's your two options. You got to take
the swale out of there, or you got to use
a smaller more you know, those lawn service people will
probably use it at a minimum of forty two inch
wide zero turn mower. So you know, if you've got it,
tip here and there, and I've got it. I've been
in the house twenty six years and my front yard

(25:31):
was at one time perfectly flat. But I got a
couple areas and I'm still able to cut my lawn
and I'm thankful for that. But I think I would
probably have the same thing if you know, forty two
inch zero turn mower was cutting that lawn between tree

(25:51):
roots and different swales in the yard. They got to
be leveled out or you got to use a smaller mower.
That's pretty much the answer.

Speaker 8 (26:00):
All right, I'll do the level of out routine and
I think that might help solve that. Sure.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Very good. Okay, Thanks don, Thank you, buddy, take care,
bye bye, all right again. That phone number is eight
hundred eight two three eight two five five spots for you, Bill.

Speaker 9 (26:19):
Welcome, Hey, how's it going?

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Doing fun?

Speaker 9 (26:22):
Gotta okay, You're impossible to get a.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Hold of, you know, it's been a very busy day, right.

Speaker 9 (26:30):
The last couple of weeks, I just got busy all
the time, and that was it.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Okay, on vacation a lot.

Speaker 9 (26:36):
But anyway, hey, I got a lot of seedar fence,
and I don't I don't know if I should go
with an analyst and which seala to use, and I
shop at lows Well.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
I I think it's going to depend on the type
of seiler you used. Will depend on whether you can
use an airless. Usually an airless would be for a
paint or a solid color stain, something with more solids
in it. And if you use like a semi transparent,

(27:19):
it could really vaporize it and you really wouldn't be
able to use that. But you could use like a
tank sprayer on it rather than an airless.

Speaker 9 (27:28):
Well that's what we did last time. But it made
a mess. And my wife says she's going to brush
the whole thing, and we got like close to a
thousand feet of fence. I think she's a nuts well.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Wealth each his own. But let's just back up a
little bit because I think this in a way we'll
answer the question or she's gonna brush it one or
the other what do you want the fence to look like?
What's it looked like? Now? Is it stained a red?

Speaker 9 (28:02):
The's some fence that's about, I don't know, over ten
years old.

Speaker 8 (28:09):
But it looks alright because we.

Speaker 9 (28:10):
Did stain that and stuff. And there's one section that's
brand new because the wind blew it down. It's it's mishmashed.
I'm just really concerned with preserving the wood because I
don't want to do this again. I mean, I'm seventy
five years old. I don't need this stuff anymore.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Right right, Well, I I so you got to missmash now, right,
you got some new woods, you got some that's already stained,
et cetera, et cetera. Are you I mean, would you
be interested in painting it?

Speaker 9 (28:44):
I don't know, not really.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Because if you painted it, you could use the air liss.

Speaker 9 (28:50):
H huh. So you don't think the analyst is good
for the stain.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Right, That's what I'm saying. It'll use an air liss
on a semi transparent stain, it'll vap now, Oh, okay,
I say that. I say that, but there's a lot
of semi transparent stains out there, okay, And reading the
labels I could be wrong on that, but general general

(29:15):
rule of thumb is an airless sprayer you're you're not
going to use on a semi transparent, you know, very
thin viscosity because it'll vapor ice.

Speaker 9 (29:28):
Well, you know, the last time we did it, I
used a tank sprayer and I can't remember. It's ceiling
something we got at Loaves and I've used you know,
I've lived in the house for forty years, so and
I used Thompson's and that's worthless. That's a year and
that's it. Yep, you know, you know. And the thing
that's funny is the back section. My dad, I probably

(29:52):
call you up on this. Before my dad this I'm
talking thirty years ago, took the old fence apart, nails
and everything and put it back up. We never stained
it or anything, and it's still standing. It's just gray,
you know.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
And how we're right, Well, cedar will I tell people,
cedar is one of those things that you don't necessarily
have to stain it, but you have to be prepared for.
You know, it won't look like cedar. It'll turn gray
and it'll be natural and in some cases you'll have

(30:32):
some issues with mildew and stuff like that on it
because water will penetrate, but cedar will you know, it'll
stand the test of time.

Speaker 9 (30:41):
Yeah, well we'll see. I regret that I never didn't
put the plastic fence up and never have to worry
about that stuff again.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
You know.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
So it goes back to my question. My first question
Bill to you was what do you want it to
look like? Because that's going to dictate on it.

Speaker 9 (31:00):
All supplied nobody. We're just we're just doing the inside
of defense in our backyard. We don't care about the
neighbors and the rest. The other side is their problem,
and I just want to preserve the wood, is my concerned.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Yeah, well, your semi transparent stains are going to go
on with a tank sprayer and their life will be
uh minimal compared to a solid color stain or a paint.
So you know, if you've got a sunny location, you
use a semi transparent stain, you know, where it soaks in,

(31:36):
you can see the wood grain, it looks like cedar,
it looks like red we whatever. In a sunny location,
you're gonna get three to four years out of it,
absolutely max. And a solid color stain, you know it
it more looks like paint. It's not gonna be wood toned.
You could get a brown. Uh, you know, it's going

(31:57):
to double the lifespan of a semi transpar Well, I think.

Speaker 9 (32:01):
That's to be used as the semi you know, with
the color in it. And it don't look bad. And
it's been at least five years since we didn't last
all right, all right? But but any brand do in
particular or do you think it doesn't matter?

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Well, it matters. You can buy uh, you can buy
fence stain for you know, twenty five thirty dollars a gallon.
You can buy it for sixty dollars a gallon.

Speaker 9 (32:26):
Okay, so you get what you pay for.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
You get what you pay for. In all coatings and sealants,
you certainly do get what you pay for. Makes that
good model? They make a really good Sumn Williams modified
a Crely deck and fence stain, which I think is
probably one of the better ones in the market.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Uh huh.

Speaker 9 (32:47):
So as far as an al Is spray, what do
you think that that?

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Wise, I'm going to guess that you cannot use an
Airliss sprayer on there. But I don't know that.

Speaker 9 (32:59):
Because of a stay right, Okay. The type so so
either brush it or roll it or spray it with
a tag.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Yeah some of there's there. Yeah, yeah, that that's gonna
be the best. There's a new type of staining tool
for decks and fences. It's got a real long it's
almost like a it's almost like a roof brush, to
be honest with you, or a mop because that stuff, again,

(33:27):
it's got you know, the viscussity so thin. It's like
putting milk on and there's this one brush. It's almost
like a mop or a truck cleaning brush or something
like that. You put a lot on there. It does
a good job.

Speaker 9 (33:42):
So yes, because like last time we did it, you know,
my kids were still at home and it was all
of us.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
There was, you know, two.

Speaker 9 (33:50):
People on the other side of the fence for the
over spray with cardboard and me and my son on
the other side pumping it up and spraying it on,
you know.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Right' that's what takes all the time, is getting it
from the can onto the fence. So that's my recommendation.
Probably have to read a little labels too, Bill, but uh,
I think that's your choices. Thanks much for the call.
I appreciate it. Take a little break and Alex will

Well, a busy day it's been, and I love it
when it's busy, and we talked a lot about different
projects that are perfect for this time of year.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Alex, Welcome, good morning, Gary morning.

Speaker 7 (37:23):
First of all, thank you, thank you for your service
to all of our homeowners and di I wires.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
I enjoy it. Thank you.

Speaker 7 (37:32):
So I've been employed many of your products that you
advertise and been satisfied with all of them.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
Agreed. One of the.

Speaker 7 (37:41):
Ones I've used is your is that if I would.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Stay Okay, you used it?

Speaker 7 (37:48):
I used, yes, sir uh.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Now.

Speaker 7 (37:50):
I used it on a deck which is open, and
I did it when the temperature was like eighty something
degrees and summa shining right and well, not a smart
thing because I don't know what was going on, but
I couldn't get it down fast enough or whatever. I

(38:12):
know you have to do two coats, because later in
the fall, I did a covered gazebo sixty degrees in
cloudy and it's held up beautifully. It's been on there
over three years. I've got to do something with this deck.
What what do I need to do to clean it

(38:35):
or prepare it for putting some more on it?

Speaker 1 (38:38):
Yeah, So when you put that defile on on that,
you know, warm day, is it peeling? Is that the problem? Yes?
A little bit? Yeah, Okay, okay, so you know one
of the things and we'll get you there. It's going
to be work because we've got to strip that off

(39:00):
or we can cover it up. But we'll talk about
that in a second. So, regardless of brand, they make
it almost three different ways, and some states can't sell oils.
Some oils penetrate and stick and do better with pressure

(39:21):
treated wood than water bases. But water bases last longer,
they hold resistance against the UV rays of the sun,
but trying to get it to bite into pressure treated
wood is tough on hot sunny days. But it's also
tough if I guess we don't open up the pores

(39:43):
of the wood. So cleaning it and using a deck
brightener before application helps with the penetration of it and oils.
Of course, the other third one is something fairly new.
In fact, it's a new product for to define the
last year they make a modified I'll get acrylic, so

(40:08):
it's oil and water, so it gets the benefit of both.
So having said that, if we have so, having said that,
the weather may have affected it, or maybe the porosity
the wood just wouldn't allow that to bite as good

(40:28):
as it should have, and we could boost that. I
don't know if you used a deck brightener to open
up it's kind of like which you would. It's an
oxalic acid. It's like a meratic acid for wood, but
you use oxalic acid for wood to open up the pores.
So that's what's caused the problem, and now we got

(40:49):
to remove the problem. So I would definitely use stay.
In that same line, they make a deck stripper which
is very good. And again doing it probably in the
morning early would be advantageous. And it's gonna hold up,

(41:11):
you know, it's gonna stay wetter longer, and you'll put
that on file the directions how long it says. Sometimes
it's fifteen minutes, sometimes it's an hour, and then you
scrub it off and rinse and remember it's peeling because
it hasn't really saturated down into the wood good enough
to bite, so it should come off relatively easy for

(41:33):
that type of project.

Speaker 7 (41:36):
All right, so recommend using the stripper, and do I
need to use the the oxalic acid stripper.

Speaker 1 (41:47):
You know, the stripper will work as an oxalic acid
that will open up the porch of the wood. So
just a cleaner after that. So that's good. That'll save you.
And then you know, if if you want to stay
with a DeFi I mean you certainly can. I mean,
it's probably going to give you an extra year's worth
of life on a semi transparent over any other brand.

(42:11):
If you want to go with the modified oil acrylic,
you can. It can look different because it allows you
to do one coat or two coats and the one
coat has no sheine and the second coat will create

(42:32):
a sheene. Okay, And you should visit their website and
take a look at some of the videos too, just
to site which one you want to go to. But yeah,
I think that's you know, certainly what you want to
do is strip that off because it's a semi transparent,

(42:53):
so it's a supposed to penetrate in and it just
isn't penetrated all the way in.

Speaker 7 (42:59):
Yeah, I think the biggest problem was it was just
drying too fast. When yeah, well, like I said, I
put it in the fall on the covered pergola and
it was fatty and it was like sixty degrees and
it was different, and yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
It's perfect. We all do that. I mean, we get
excited and we do these projects in the you know,
in the summertime, I mean it's just you know, we
have a little more time and we have a little
more daylight, and we have a little more enthusiasm and
we tackle those projects. But in the springtime, a lot
of us get a lot of rain, and a lot
of us get cooler temperatures than we had liked. But

(43:44):
I'm telling you, the best time to tackle home improvement
not the only time, but the best time to tackle
a home improvement project is the months ahead. Fall time
is a wonderful time, but then there's football and festival
and maybe lack of motivation. So you know, we all

(44:04):
get excited in spring and summer, but really the best time,
certainly is the fall. Don't forget. Each hour of the
day's show is available via podcast. It's on the iHeart
