Speaker 1 (00:32):
Well, so weekend. Welcome, you're at home with Gary Salvian.
Another weekend. Let's get a few things done around the home,
and let's get started early, all right. Our phone number
is eight hundred eight two three eight two five five.
Go ahead and grab a line. I'm happy to hear
from you regarding your home project and what you're working on.

(00:54):
We've had we have had a roller coaster right through
the seasons this year, that's for sure, and it looks
like in different parts of the country we get a
little pre pre preview of fall. In other words, it's
going to be perfect temperatures. You get some of those
projects done around your home, so feel free to join us.

(01:16):
Happy to talk to you about what, well, what you're
working on, whether it's a air conditioning and humidity balancing,
whether it's insulation, whether it's we want to work a
little bit about weather stripping it. This time of year,
I always kind of get into that a little bit.
It's no man's land, but it's also a very busy period.

(01:38):
We've probably have delayed a lot of our outdoor projects,
or maybe we didn't delay them, they've just kind of
bogged down with the weather getting too hot and then
too wet and then too hot again, and so we
can certainly talk about summertime projects. We can also start,
you know, being a visionary, start thinking about what we

(02:01):
need to do going into the cooler temperatures, whether it's
getting some firewood, getting a chimney cleaned, lubricating the garage door,
sealing the concrete, patching the concrete, and so there's all
these projects, both summer and fall projects that we can

(02:23):
take your calls on. This past week, spent some time
with Joe from Moisture Shield Decking, which by the way,
is now my new all time favorite decking. As I
learned about this particular decking. You probably don't recall, but
I used to talk about moisture Shield decking I don't know,

(02:47):
probably thirteen years ago, fourteen years ago, because it is
a composite decking, which is probably the most water resistant
decking out there. You can even use it underwater, and
that was very innovative. I don't know if anybody can
replicate that. But they're also rolling out a line of
decking with it's cool decking, and he's going to join

(03:15):
us in about an hour and a half. We're going
to learn a little bit more about this. But I'm
fascinated by this because we rent a vacation place down
in the South Carolina area and we do it every
other year, bring the whole family down there, and it's
got probably fifteen twenty steps and it's got composite decking

(03:35):
on there, and you literally, I mean you really got
to watch the kids. It's so hot and they'll be
screaming if they don't have shoes on. And you know, kids,
they learned that maybe not as quick as an adult, right,
they think they can beat it. But Moisture Shields come
out with a cool decking and he's got the greatest

(03:57):
little um I guess exhibit to prove the point. A
lot of people are saying that and he's like, try this.
It reminds me of the Champion window when they came
out with the They're superglass where the fells a Champion.
What they did is they put a heat bulb on

(04:18):
one side of the window and no heat bulb on
the other side of the window, and you could put
your hand there where the new glass was. You could
feel nothing there was there. You could feel no heat penetration.
And then on the other window, you know, nothing specially

(04:39):
the glass. It was low ea glass. You could feel
that heat penetrating right through the glass. Well, they did
that with the with the decking, composite decking. He had
two brands, heat lights over all the brands and little samples,
and then he had some samples of their decking, little

(05:01):
samples and it was amazing. So with a heat ball,
you know, it took They left it on for like
an hour, and he's like, okay, go ahead and just
lay your hand on, you know. And I put my
hand on the you know, regular composite decking by two

(05:21):
other manufacturers, and you're going to leave it on there
less than a second. I mean it's hot, It's real hot.
And then went over and put my hand on their
decking and it was warm, probably a little bit warmer
than their temperature, but it was not going to burn

(05:41):
your feet, that's for sure. And that's amazing. And then
they were telling me about a product called Insta deck,
which I'm going to talk about a lot because I
have got a fantasy about this from my house and
they haven't, you know, haven't explored it deeply yet. But
it is it's great for old beat up patios and

(06:07):
mine isn't well, it's twenty five years old and it's
got a couple of cracks and it needs a little work.
And I've been trying to contemplate on what I wanted
to do, and this insta deck may be my instant's success.
So chat about that. Plus, of course we'll take your calls.
Grab a line. It's eight hundred eight two three eight
two five five Matt, you lead us off. Hey are

(06:35):
you there? Yes, sir?

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Hey, okay, So.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
I have a pool deck and I I'm shealed it before.
I wasn't very happy about the application. But you know,
my question is what's the best way to apply deck

(07:02):
cealant clear deck celant?

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Is it a roller? Is it a brush?

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Is it a spray or one of those rectangular swipper.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Looking like things.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Probably all the above all work. I mean, they'll all
get the product on the deck. When you said you
weren't real happy about the application, what were you unhappy about?
How did you apply it?

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Now?

Speaker 3 (07:31):
It didn't go through my little tank.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Sprayer very well?

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Was it designed for s and so it was spotty?
Was it designed for stains?

Speaker 5 (07:47):
No?

Speaker 1 (07:48):
I just this is a cheap probably, so yeah, that's
probably why I really I'm not trying to be a
smart gay, but really the first thing. And it's really changed.
I used to be able to just give an answer
on everything on deck scenes, but now there's so many
different manufacturers with quote their way of doing it. But

(08:10):
certainly with a clear, semi transparent stain, I would see
no reason you should not be able to spray it
with a stain based tank sprayer. Okay, and you can
still run into some issues. So it's getting the product
on the wood fast because you're you know, it's not
an airless prayer, but it's a tank sprayer, so you're

(08:31):
just spraying it on and then somebody should be there
with a paintbrush or a roller or a mop, a
deck mop, and make sure it doesn't puddle because if
it puddles, it's not going to all penetrate and then
you're gonna have some shiny spots and you're not gonna
be happy with that either. With a roller, man, you're

(08:52):
dipping and rolling and dipping and rolling and dipping and roller,
I mean it'll weary out. I'm really personally like, I know, defy,
that's just a brand name. What they recommend is they
have an applicator for stains, and I call it a
deck mop. I've seen them, and it's probably what you're

(09:14):
saying about that swift or product. It's kind of like
a you know, like a floor mop almost it puts
down a good amount, but it also evens it out.
You want whatever you put on in a semi transparent.
You want to make sure it goes into the wood.
That's that's critically important. So you know, they they will

(09:34):
probably all work, but you know, get a good one
that applicats as important as as the sayings itself and
don't let it puddle and make sure it's even is
what you wasn't happening, did you?

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Or can you get the applicator that tanks prayer from
like Sherman Williams or just go to Defy.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Well, the applicator that I was talking about, the deck
mop or whatever. You can get that at the DeFi
Woodstain dot com or I'm sure the hardware stores and
Sherman Williams have things like that. I mean, there's all
kind of applicators out there. There's even a real thick
one that has like three inch long bristles, which is

(10:21):
real dense. That's a nice one too. I haven't used it,
but I can see where that'd be nice. Okay, So
get in here and take a look at them, and
I think it'll make sense when you see it.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
Well, i'm I'm I'm due for another application. And yes,
have I dolloped a little water on there? And yes
it goes right in right right.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Well, I'll tell you what and when you said it
clear and you said, you know, semi transparent means it's penetrating.
And see the wood grain, its absence of color, that
has very little UV block to it. So if you're
in a sunny location, you'll get a year out of that.
If you're in a shady location, you might get two

(11:06):
years out of it. It's it's the nice thing is
all you got to do is clean it. Okay, And
but it's not going to have sun protection. I have
moisture protection. But you'll do it every year or two,
depending on how much sun you get on it.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Well, I asked my wife, I said, well, how about
if we stain this deck with like a color on it?
I'm telling you right now. I got an answer back,
and the answer was no.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Well you got your answer.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
No, you go Sometimes you don't get an answer.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Yeah, but with a solid color stain you would get
probably three to five years on it, so it would
have an advantage. All right, We'ron Wilson. He's up next.
We'll continue. You're at home with Gary Salid weekends.

All right, you're at home with Gary Salvan, and this
is the time we bring in Ron Wilson because we've
got to talk about landscaping and plannings. In the fall.
It's a great time to work in the yard, as
we is to work around the house. And Ron Wilson
is our He's the man we go to for info.
And Ron welcome, Marie, mister, how are you. I'm good,

(15:11):
certain yourself, good, good good. Everywhere I looked, though, there's disease.
Disease on my bushes, disease. That big thing of mums
I had disease, got twenty percent of them. So I'm
thinking about your moms. Yeah, maybe not. I mean they're
all kind of there's this one little portion it's all
kind of black leaves and just kind of wilded. I

(15:33):
didn't spray them with anything. I killed them.

Speaker 9 (15:34):
I'm sure. Yeah. Anyway, my question is, teach me did
missus Solovin's mom's bloom? Does she keep pinching them back?

Speaker 10 (15:42):
No?

Speaker 9 (15:43):
I forgot to do that.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
She's she didn't forget. I've reminded her. I took care
of her colius, and I thought, you love those moms.
I'm not a big huge fan of them. So, by
the way, cabbage speak, yeah, cabbage, Yeah, that's great to eat.
I like cabbage rolls. So what's the flowering cabbage thing?

Speaker 9 (16:03):
Well, isn't that funny you said flowering cabbage because it
used to be called ornamental flowering cabbage and kale Okay,
And the reason we called it that is that if
it made it through the winter, and sometimes they do
actually make it through the winter, okay, because it's a
it's a biennial. They flower in the springtime and it's
pretty Yeah, it's a pretty cool flower. And we found

(16:25):
out also the pollinators love cabbage and kale flowers. So
a lot of times when you're done with your cabbage,
if it's got some leaves on it or BROCCOLI's things
like that, is let it grow and let it flower.
And they love that.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
So well, I tell you I plan in those things
probably thirty years ago and I haven't since. But I'm
looking way into moms, way going to get rid of
some of them, plant a few of them.

Speaker 9 (16:48):
Way underused. I've said that for years. And we're talking
about ornamental cabbage, kale that flowers and that that you
plant in the fall, great color and the colors. These
are bread Folks first say are they edible? Yeah, they
are edible.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
We're not going to eat them.

Speaker 9 (17:04):
But it's a thicker leaf and you're not going to
eat them, but you could if you wanted to. But
don't grow in for that, growing for the ornamental value.
And as these get they'll continue to grow through the
fall season. It finally reads a point by Thanksgiving they're
pretty well done growing.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Well, our false have gotten so long too, so I
want to get some culture.

Speaker 9 (17:22):
Well yeah, but so what happens is as the temperatures
start to cool down and the days get shorter, just
like poncetti is and other things that react to that,
they start to turn colors. And there are whites and
pinks and lavenders and almost a purple color reds.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
I think we like a purple h Yeah, marooney sho.
I don't know, but it was a beautiful fall color.
Just why we quit using them.

Speaker 9 (17:47):
And here's the thing. They will stay like that in
our area all the way to Christmas with no problem.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Okay.

Speaker 9 (17:53):
And this past winter I took pictures of ours peeking
up through the snow with its bright pink, bright pink foliage,
and it lasted, and they flowered this spring ornamental cabbage
and kale, and it's both. It's both. The cabbage is
the clump like a cabbage head. The kale are individual
leaves and they're usually more serrated. So you get a

(18:14):
really cool look of the kales.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
Landscaping. So I'm gonna plan a couple of them. I
plan them now.

Speaker 9 (18:22):
You'll find them available now. Yeah. They just they're kind
of right now making it into the garden centers as
they're now getting set up for fall season. So along
with the mums and the asters, the cabbages and the kales,
and again, way way under use. Think about it. The
mums may give you four weeks five weeks of color.
Maybe asters may be about the same, are a little

(18:43):
bit less. But here you got something that's just getting
started and goes all fall to the holidays, and further
depending on what kind of winter you have. One more
I'll throw in there for you. Giant red mustard greens,
mustard greens hmm, individual leaf gets tall. Now, these will
get up about eighteen inches high. It turns red in

(19:06):
the fall, maroonish red, beautiful plant and those are edible
and it tastes like horse reddish.

Speaker 5 (19:13):
Ooh.

Speaker 9 (19:14):
So you know, oh, you pick off a leaf of
that and you cut it up your salad. Unbelievable, giant
red or big red. Sometimes it is called.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
You've inspired me. As always, I will take pictures and
it looks like a good week to do some of that.

And to work to go. You're at home with Gary Salvin.
Thanks for joining me. It looks like a great week
to get some things done around the home, inside and outside.
And if you'd like to join us, I'd certainly like
to talk about your project. It's eight hundred A two
three A two five five And maybe you're thinking about
I see a lot of ladders in my neighborhood, a

(25:45):
lot of people tackling projects of painting on the outside
of the house. Maybe we don't have a lot of
clapboard homes in our neighborhood with a lot of brick
and then a lot of trim, but I do see
a lot of trim being painted. And where I'm at,
and it looks like in a lot of different parts

(26:05):
of the country, we're going to have a little little
preview of some little tiny cooler temperatures where you can
get out and get some of that painting done. And
as I was talking to somebody last night, in fact,
is how important painting is. I know, we usually paint
when the house starts looking tired or we don't like
the color. But really painting is maintenance. It's protecting the wood.

(26:30):
And I can't tell you how important that is. As
we've had Ron Kruger on the past, a wildlife control special.
As soon as talk talking about animals that get into
your attic, that's a big deal and it's an expensive
deal to take care of it because a trap and remove,
they got to clean the attic and then they got
the restoration or repairing how the animal is getting in

(26:53):
And a lot of insurance companies are not really covering
that right now. They're saying, well, you know you have
we had the facia boards by the gutters where you
know they weren't being maintained. There's some wood rot there,
there's some separation of the seams, and they pulled the
board back. They be and the animals and they entered

(27:13):
the attic and that's why you got the problem. They
didn't create the problem. You created a problem by lack
of maintenance. So you know, if you just have you know,
if you have a house and it's got trim boards
on it, maybe it needs a change of color. That's fine.
Maybe it is tired, that's fine. But look and say,
how in the world is that being maintained. I'll bet

(27:36):
you where you have a nice mortar cut right at
the ninety degree angle of the softaboard, there's probably a
little bit of gap there, probably needs a little caking,
probably needs a little painting. And get on that when
you get some nice weather outside. Don't hesitate. Get on
that and we'll talk about the different kinds of paint

(27:56):
to use on that if you'd like to join us.
All right, let's get back to the phone calls.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
We have Harold, Harold, welcome, Hey, Thanks Garry, a long
time listener, first time caller. I have an older deck
and a and a newer deck that I just stained
back in the mid midsummer used cabins. I've got a
white pine, old older tree that's got limbs that come

(28:23):
out over both of them, and about every other year
it produces its you know, mass of pine combs. This
year especially, I know, the pine rollsin off those just
dripping on on both the decks, making quite a mess.
I wonder if you could recommend anything that would would
take that pine rosin off there and not strip the
stain off there. I tried powerwashing one small section and

(28:45):
it's just taking the you know, taking the stain up too.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Yeah. So the stain that's on there, Harold, is it
a semi transparent where you can see the wood green?

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Well, I've got both. The older deck hadn't been treated
probably for six right here, so I did that last year.
I put a new coat on it this year. But
it's it's uh uh, it's not. The new one is
semi transparent. The older one is not.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
The older one is a solid. Does the the tar
does it show up more on the semi transparent or
the solid?

Speaker 2 (29:21):
You know, it's kind of the same on both white. Yeah, Resin.
It's just these drops that are you know, everywhere.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Yeah, there's a couple suggestions I can tell you to try.
I would be careful, you know, don't try to midild
the deck right on the corners and let's see how
it's gonna hold up the pressure washer. There's probably a
little too much pressure you're using, or even too big
sharp of a nozzle on there. What it's doing, it's

(29:50):
taking a microscopic skim coat of that wood off. And
if it's on the solid color stain, it's probably just
stripping that solid color stain right off the substrate. So yeah,
probably unless you had something that was down to about
fifteen hundred, probably not a good idea. And it's not

(30:10):
really going to remove all that. So here's there's a
couple of things I would try. I don't know if
you got any bug in tar remover. Uh yeah, yeah,
put that on a you know, back in the corner
or something. Put it on a cotton cloth and just
kind of rub and see what that does. It should

(30:32):
remove it. I don't know what it's going whether it's
going to lighten the stain, So that's why I'm just
double checking that. So that's one thing, and mineral spirits
would be another that you could use along the same lines,
but the bug in tar remover is going to be
a little bit stronger. And I also talk Carol about

(30:53):
a deck brightener, and you know, when you apply it
to a loud get down in the wood. So if
you have that gumminess on glass, one of the things
they'll use. They being window cleaning people is though, use
a really really really fine steel wool along with like

(31:16):
barkeeper's friend, which is luxalic acid. The deck brightener is
also an exolic acid. Again, it's designed to brighten the deck.
So I don't know what it's gonna do. It's not
gonna really hurt your solid color stain, but it might
bleach out your semi transparent stain. And those are the

(31:41):
couple of things I would try. I would. I think
your buggin tar remover or your mineral spirits probably are
your two best things to try without really affecting the surface.
I think that's a two try.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Okay, well I have both those. I'll give them a truck.
I appreciate your help.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Call anytime. Thanks, Haryl, appreciate it. Take care all right.
It's eight hundred eight two three eight two five five, Tom, welcome.
How you doing fine?

Speaker 5 (32:18):
Oh good? I wasn't sure we connected or not.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Yeah, I came to you too fast, nook.

Speaker 5 (32:26):
I'm glad you did. Our house is twenty Our house
is twenty two years old. We built it. We're having
the mastered bathroom upstairs remodeled. They had to move. There's
a her side on my side for countertops or whatever. Okay,

(32:47):
they had to move the electrical outlets.

Speaker 9 (32:51):
Uh huh.

Speaker 5 (32:53):
Well, now the outlet on the first foard and a
half bathroom doesn't work. Are those tied together?

Speaker 1 (33:00):
They could be sure. It's probably connected to a GF
you ground fault circuit interrupter, and it should be in
a bathroom, so it might. In fact, this is crazy,
but in my old house, I had a a an
outlet in a bathroom, you know, right by the vanity,

(33:20):
and if it rained really hard, that thing would click off,
wouldn't work. And after searching and searching and searching, it
was an outdoor outlet that was connected to the one
in the bathroom and if moisture got in there, it
would kick the ground fault circuit interrupter and you know,

(33:43):
kill that outlet up upstairs. So yeah, they are, they
are connected, or you can just put an individual one.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Into Well, everything works, but that outlet.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Well maybe it's.

Speaker 6 (34:01):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
Yeah, but there's other places that outlet could be, is
what I'm saying. Like mine was outside. I've had one
where I had a garage outlet didn't work, and it
was on my screen porch on the other side of
the house. So the one in the bathroom, you don't
have that circuit breaker on that outlet, Is that correct?

(34:30):
I mean you can't reset it?

Speaker 5 (34:33):
No, no, no, no, yeah, there is not a reset button.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Okay there well, and there's no reset.

Speaker 5 (34:38):
Buttons upstairs all So I assume they were on a
outlet or on a gefi in the basement.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Well, it could be that's what I'm saying, that's exactly
what I'm saying. In fact, it could be in a
ground fall outlet that you can't find that you don't
know you have. And I've been there, I've done that.
So what I really want you to do before we
get into it any further is look in the basement

(35:04):
and just try to identify every outlet. Look hard, because,
like I said, I chased them one time, and the
thing was upstairs, second floor bathroom and it was outside
underneath that window, but you know, twenty feet below the window,
and it was an outdoor receptacle.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
Okay. Well, what I was curious is if they're all
tied together. Now this is going to probably sound crazy
to you, but the wires wouldn't feed from where they
moved those boxes from upstairs down to that outlet.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Would they could be.

Speaker 5 (35:44):
Because what I'm thinking is I'm wondering if they didn't
when they moved the boxes, you know, they had to
they had to add wire to go to another box, right,
So if they could have possibly not gotten a connection
back together, that goes.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Down, Well, that's you know, those are I mean, everything
you're saying is a possibility, right, I mean anything everything
you're saying, I would start to process off. You know, first,
I'm sure you've checked to make sure you're getting power
to that outlet and you're not. And then if you're not,

(36:21):
what I would do is really go through a hunt
and the garage and the basement and try to identify
any gfies you have in the house and make sure
they're functioning. Because on a GFI that popped at mine,
we never really used that outlet, so I didn't even
know it was there. I just had to go through
a full scour of every outlet in the house and

(36:45):
then I found it. So I think that's where I
would start to process for, you know, and and go
from there. Appreciate the cal We'll take a break and
we'll continue with your calls. You're at home with Gary

Speaker 1 (40:06):
Welcome.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
Hey, good morning morning, beautiful morning here in cord in Indiana.

Speaker 1 (40:14):
Very good and we need one.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Yeah. Yeah, I do have empathy for your earlier caller
about the ground fault because I had the same issue
and it kind of drove me crazy for a while,
but I had to accept it. But I appreciate your show.
I really do.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
I had a we had an addition built on our
house twenty five years ago, and in part of the
addition thing, we wedid our kitchen. We had a flooring
put down and I finally had to make a repair
this morning, and I hope I did the right thing.
But it's a lambinent type of flooring that comes in
strips made by an Mpico company, and I don't even

(40:59):
know if there's still in business. This has been twenty
four years, okay, but no problem for twenty four years.
I mean it's been excellent and had a spot in
front of a door that has a full glass screen
door with this full glass, so finally had a little
corner start kind of barely popping up, just barely. I mean,

(41:20):
the floor is so perfect I could tell. And it's
right under the door, underneath the uh you know, the sweep.
And also I knew I had to do something right away,
and I was kind of dumbfounded about I didn't want
to pry it up, but I didn't know, you know,
I had to get something down in there. It's a
real fin material and it's been excellent. But I tried

(41:43):
super glue and it's a done deal.

Speaker 5 (41:45):
I did.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
I finally, I did. Finally, I took a straight ten.
I did not want to cry it up any more
than I absolutely had to, but I knew I had
to get something under it. And I mean, I'm just
I mean, it's a done It should have, could have,
would have. I've already done it. But I just I
wanted to brag on the floor for one thing, but
I also if that doesn't work, I don't know what

(42:10):
you know what other I really I don't want to
pull up any more.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
Than I abolutely have to understand. I understand, I don't so.
And it is a lamb in it, correct, I mean?
Or is it?

Speaker 2 (42:22):
Yeah? Yeah, rubber backing. It's like about a sixteen I
got a piece. I had a box in the basement.
Never had to go, never had to touch it, because
everything's been great. We had a professional install it. I
never even knew about it. My wife ever heard about
it while we were having all this work done. And
you know, thankfully it was twenty five years. I mean,

(42:46):
you can't beat that. I'm a I'm a retired plumber,
so I've been on lots of kitchen floors, even refrigerators.
The only thing that let the very small dimples after
all these years under the fridge when I pull it
out and clean and we have a roll around the island. Anyway,
Like I say, I just wanted to brag on the floor,
but also ask about.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
Yeah, so I'm gonna guess it depends what you were gluing.
What if the lambinad has separated a little bit from
the base the guts of the floor, if you will
it may be smooth enough and not porous that it
may work. Okay, Now, if you said at the bottom

(43:32):
it's got kind of a rubber base and things. If
you were kind of gluing the rubber to the floor
or something like that, it probably would not work. It
would probably absorb it. And I mean it probably wouldn't
even laid down. It sounds to me like you've vetted
the super glue. You put some pressure on it, and
it's kind of folded down now, so it looks like

(43:53):
it's worked. Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (43:56):
Well, I just did it. I'll find out later, Okay.
A three quarter inch thick piece of steel, about the
size of a softball, and I laid that on top
of it on a rag on a piece of a
little thin, thin cardboard so case it sticks, I can
get it off.

Speaker 1 (44:12):
Well, let's see if it does. If it doesn't, what
I would recommend is gorilla glue makes They make a
urethane base, which I would not use because you add
moisture in it expands and it might be a little
too tricky to do that. But they make gorilla glue clear,

(44:33):
which has got a little bit more body than a
super glue, and you could probably still put it down,
you know, with something very thin like a pin or something,
and then yeah, and then put your weight on there,
and that may that may have a better chance of
gluing it, but let's hope it works. If it's, like

(44:56):
I said, the surface on that is a laminate, and
you could certainly use super glue on laminate to laminate
or laminate to metal or something along those lines. But
see see where you come out. Yeah, Okay, if it's
on plywood, it may absorb the glue and it may
not work. So that's where the more heavier duty bodied

(45:20):
type product like a Gorilla Glue clear would work, or
a product like seal All might work. You know, I
would probably try those two more than a super glue.
But let's see where you're at. You'll you'll know within
the next hour.

Speaker 5 (45:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (45:39):
Yeah, So Gorilla glue clear, yes, they got so many kind.

Speaker 5 (45:43):
I know they do.

Speaker 1 (45:44):
But don't get the don't get the amber one that
that's water activated and that's gonna swell and it's probably
going to foam up around it. You're not going to
be able to control that. But the clear you should
be able to control, and you should be in pretty
good shape.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
Okay, all right, thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
Man, you're quite welcome. Thank you, take care, bye bye.
All right, and our phone number if you'd like to
join us too. So it's eight hundred and eight two
three eight two five five. We were talking right when
we opened the show about decking and I was jokingly,
but I really wasn't joking at all. My new favorite

(46:23):
is one called Moisture Shield, and we're going to talk
to Joe from Moisture Shield and share their heat proof
technology that they have with their composite decking and how
dramatically it lowers the temperature of some of the decking.

(46:44):
A lot of the composites are hot, and it depends,
you know, if you've got a south and southwest facing,
it's it's sometimes too hot to walk on in a
lot of cases. And this moisture shield it does not
absorb the heat. It'll be warm, but it's not going

(47:04):
to burn your feet like some of the other decades. Anyway,
we'll chat with him and maybe, uh, that's something that
might suit you well. All right, we'll continue with your
calls again. It's eight hundred and eight two three eight
two five five year at home with Gary.

Speaker 7 (47:19):
Sullivan, time to get your hands dirty with Gary Sullivan.
