Speaker 1 (00:32):
Well, so weekend Welcome. You're at home with Gary Salvan.
Take you through another hour getting a few things done
around the home.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
And if you'd like to join us, do so. We've
got a couple of lines that are open and available.
Danny Boys poised to take your call. We're gonna get
right back to the phone calls. We have Cheryl, Cheryl welcome.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Hello.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yes, yes, I have.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
A porch, a cement porch. It's got like it's built
in forty eight and it's got the rocks in it.
It's not like a smooth cement porch. But the edge
of it leading to the first step has been broken
off part of it and I'm wondering is there any
way to repair that? And can I repair it and

(01:15):
put like tile over the top?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Well, we've got some work to do, so first, let
me try to identify the type of concrete you have.
So it's a concrete stoop or porch, and it's exposed
aggregate in other words, the rocks are exposed, yes, okay,
And then which part is broken? Is it on the

(01:43):
top where the rocks are or is it on the
riser going down to the first step.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
It's on the top part, Yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
And how big a chunk is missing there?

Speaker 5 (01:58):
It's you knows, from nothing to about an inch. And
then the depth.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Of the porch, the depth of the porch the slab.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Okay, it's like two inches or something.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
So where it's coming down, So the inch of depth
is that on the horizontal surface? Yes, okay? And and
so the only problem is is when we patch it,

(02:38):
we're not going to have that exposed aggregate look right.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
Well, the thing is is that I wanted to cover
it with like a tile, okay.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
And what type of tile are you going to use?

Speaker 5 (02:51):
Well, it's called the tumble cementile Okay. They're like eight.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
By eight smooth okay.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
And they're not shiny, but they're a madded look okay.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Um, And that will be used with a thin set
to go attach it to the existing concrete.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Yes, that was a question. Is what type of tin
set should I use for something like that?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Well, you would use a thin set, but you're gonna
need a bonding agent in there. And has that exposed
aggre get has up been sealed with a sealer or anything.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
I really don't know.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
It's old.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Okay. Who's going to do this work?

Speaker 5 (03:33):
Are you going to do it, well, I was going
to try to do it.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yet, okay, um, Well, to patch it you would use
a product, and I'm talking on the horizontal surface. You
can use this patch up to a half inch in thickness,
so you'd have to do two coats. It's called vinyl
concrete patcher. It's a powder you mix with water and

(04:00):
either with a putting knife or a trial you would
trial it on to make it smooth. You let it
dry and then put your next half inch on there,
bringing it up to the surface of the exposed aggregate.
At that point, I know the rest of it is
rough and the aggor it gets exposed, but your thin

(04:21):
set would probably go. I really have to take a
look at it before I felt really good about saying
sure this will work, but thinking out loud. Using a
thin set and then a bonding agent in that thin
set and dressing it over the bottom of the tile

(04:42):
and compressing it onto that stoop would be the way
I would think you would adhere that without really seeing it.
That's when I'm being a little hesitant.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
You wouldn't put it on the stoop, you'd put it
on the tile.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Well, you might be able to put it on the stoop. Also,
again it depends on the texture so much. And there's
other even products that you can put over, like a
schlooter Dietra, which is a usually used on interior, but
you could use it on the X tier. It's almost

(05:18):
like a replacement for like a cement board or something
which is very stable. So I'd really have to take
a look at it to see if I'd want to
use the thin set right on the concrete or use
the thin set over the shlooter. But patching it would
be the good start with a vinyl concrete patcher. And

(05:39):
then if I did that top part, where's the other
part that's compromised.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
It's it's just the top end, okay, the kind of
I think it's the depth of the slab.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
So so it's not an inch deep?

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Well, yes, it is an inch deep.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Okay, okay, Well you can put this thickness on the
votom concrete patcher. You can do it up to half
an inch. Now you could do that. There's also a
quicker product called anchoring cement which has a bonding agent
in it, which you could use it up to an

(06:24):
inch and depth, and you could do it about if
that depth is like an inch wide and an inch deep.
You could use anchoring cement in there also, Okay, And
then what I think I would do once I had
it patched. I think I would take a picture of
it and where you're getting that tile, get their opinion

(06:48):
on how they want that tile set. I mean, once
we get the patch made, we'll be okay. But let's
find out what their process would be, what they recommend.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
Okay, all right, all right, thanks so much.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
All Right, you're welcome. I hope that helps. All Right,
let's go to Mike. Mike, welcome.

Speaker 6 (07:10):
About if that depth is.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Like, hey, Mike, yeah, hello, Yes, sir.

Speaker 6 (07:17):
I'll have a question about the easy breath.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
All right.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
I have a nineteen fifties farmhouse and I heat quite
a lot with a wood insert and I'm wondering if
that would affect my draft If when I opened to
load the wood and the easy breed was running, will
that pulled the smoke into the house.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Or you know, it may it does not hit my house,
but I know what you're saying. In fact, even in
an exhaust fan over your stove or a bathroom fan
would have a potential to do that. I'd not heard
that that's a problem. I've never had anybody write me
and say, oh, this is a problem after I got that,

(08:00):
and it has not bothered me either. It's a I
wish I knew what the CFM on that was. But
it's a slow I mean it changes out the air
in your house like six times a day, so it's right,
you know, it's a slow methodical. It'd be a good
question to ask them though, if you can even get

(08:21):
the square footage and the cube maybe of the inside
of the house. I would say no, but it would
certainly be possible, because that is creating a negative air pressure.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Right right, Okay, well I'll just check with them then.
I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (08:34):

Speaker 8 (12:18):
Hello, Yes, sir, I own a house my brother invalid
brother lives at and I go over there once a
week and they have every time this time of the
year they get the fruit flies or gnats or whatever
in their kitchen, uh huh.

Speaker 9 (12:36):
And I put out some traps and vinegar and all that.
I probably caught a couple hundred fruit flies in one week. Now,
what I'm asking is what can I do. I know
they got to be coming up the drains, right and.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
In a lot of cases that's where they come because
there's bacteria that coats the walls of the drain pipes
and that's what they feed on.

Speaker 9 (13:00):
Okay, my question is what can I do to help
stop the problem?

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah? You know, Uh, is there a disposal on that sink?
Do you know? Is there a disposal on that sink?

Speaker 3 (13:17):
No?

Speaker 1 (13:17):
No, Okay. There's different type of drain cleaners you can use,
and I'm not talking about acid drain cleaners though. You
could use a little vinegar down those pipes, which will
get rid of some of the you know, grease build
up on the inside of those pipes. But there's also

(13:39):
some macrobial drain cleaners. There's one called Draino, not drain o,
drain bow drain brow. Yeah, and it's a liquid. You
mix it with warm water. Let it said about ten
seconds pour it down the drains. Uh, don't use that

(14:00):
until morning. And what it does is it's got microbes
that eat bacteria off the off the pipes. And of course,
once we take away the food source, we take away
the problem. And you can you can test too to
see if that is the issue. One night, you know,

(14:22):
tape a little uh masking tape over that drain and
those little drain flies and different things will get stuck
on the tape and you'll you'll find out for sure
that's the source. But I'd feel pretty certain that is
the source. Okay.

Speaker 9 (14:40):
And where would I get this drain bow at.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
I've seen it at Ace Hardware and it doesn't have
to be that one there. Just don't use an acid
drain cleaner. There's a lot of microbial drain cleaners now
and uh they're used for maintenance and small blockages. But
the drain I've seen an Ace Hardware stores and I

(15:02):
think master Ken has one. I've seen in different stores,
but it's out there. It's plentiful. Okay.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
Well, thanks a lot.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
All right, very good, Thank you for the call, appreciate it.
And let's go to John. John.

Speaker 10 (15:17):
Welcome, Hey, good morning, Gary, Yes, good good, Thanks.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Hey.

Speaker 10 (15:23):
I have a traditional tongue and grouped oak hardwood floor
in an addition that I have on my mid fifties house.
We put the addition on back in two thousand and one. No,
it's twenty plus years old now. It just it was
just natural oak with like they put a pot or athane,

(15:46):
you know, varnish or finish on it, and ninety percent
of it looks good. But the traffic areas they're starting
to show a little wear and tear, is there you
know a way to maybe you know, do something with
I don't want to refinish it if it doesn't need
that really, but to do something with the light, the

(16:09):
light scratches and maybe the wear and tear in those
you know, trap pick areas around it. I mean, you know,
the chairs go in and out.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
And sure, sure it depends. You know, there's also are
not gouges, and they're just surface scratches and things like that.
Usually you would use like a again a piece of
rental equipment, or if you're doing it by hand, you'd
use like a four hundred grit wet dry paper sandpaper,

(16:42):
and you're basically just buffing out those scratches that are
in the protecting or two lots steel wool the same thing,
and can't use steel wolf you're going to use a
water base. You're a thane over that. But basically you
would upbraid the finish, you would clean to braid the finish,
and then you would circle back with a couple of

(17:04):
coats of euthane or there's different protectants that Bona makes
that you can put over the surface of that floor.
So that would be the process and the answer is yes,
you can. I don't want to say resurface, but you
would re recoat the protecting.

Speaker 10 (17:27):
I see, and it'll take so the the four hund
grit would take out the late scratches.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Or right right, I mean, you know, you can do
pretty much a half a first floor or a full
floor for a thousand bucks with having somebody come in
with the equipment buffet out, clean it and recoat it
with two coats of a euthane. I mean, I'm just
giving you you know what that job is. It's a

(17:56):
lot of labor, so having the right equipment to do it.
But stepping would be to you know, buffet out, buffet out,
which would clean it, you know, a braid that finished
so that the euthane's gonna stick, and then a couple
of coats of the euthane, and in between it you

(18:16):
would sand again.

Speaker 10 (18:18):
I see. Okay, that makes sense to me that I
just don't seem like I warranted a full redo at
this point. But but I could maybe clean up some
of those traffic areas that look better. I mean it's
kind of like it kind of like the finish on
your car. I mean, or you're or you're buffing out
some some uh yeah, but.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
If you're going to do this, if you're going to
do this, even with a coating on us on the top,
you're pretty much going to have to do the whole floor.
If you're looking to do just spots, what I would
recommend is going and getting some either Minwax makes one
and also makes one where it's a cleaner and rejuvenator,

(19:05):
and so you would clean the floor and then you
would rejuvenate it with this coding. The problem is probably
not that procedures. It's gonna make it look a whole
lot better, it's gonna make it not look worn, but
it's probably not gonna remove scratches. Okay, So a couple
of choices, very good, Thank you much for the call. Yeah,

(19:26):
a couple of choices from standing to just doing a
clear code to just kind of rejuvenating a little bit.
Because there are three big choices. All right, our friends
from Blaster there. Next we're gonna have a little conversation.
I have different lubrikinsch you can use around your home,

gonna talk about rust. We all experience having rust in
different areas of the house, especially this time of year,
so we're gonna talk about removing it, unsticking nuts and bolts,
and also protecting the surfaces from ever rusting. Ted brand
is my guest. He is with Blaster and Ted Welcome

(23:02):
again that home with Gary Sullivan.

Speaker 6 (23:05):
Hey Gary, how are you doing fun?

Speaker 1 (23:07):
You're doing it fun? How about you? Excellent?

Speaker 6 (23:11):
Yeah, I'm doing pretty good, just up here at the
cottage on the lake, you know, doing some preventative maintenance
and making sure that things are working properly and protecting
my investments. That's what it's all about.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Well, I'll tell you what. That's what we talk about
all the time. It's a big investment and protecting it's
the key. Talking about Blaster products, I mean it is.
I guess I don't know of a bigger one, number
one product for rust, and we think of the PBE blaster.
But tell me a little bit about the legacy of Blaster.

(23:43):
How long has that been around?

Speaker 6 (23:45):
Oh? Yeah, it's it's an awesome story. It's it's William Wesley,
who is we call him a bathtub kennist, and he
literally mixed up this the original formulation in his bathtub
for one of his friends who had a then Phosphorous
Minds down in Florida. And he put this formulation together

(24:05):
back in nineteen fifty seven, nineteen fifty seven, and you know,
it's been number one ever since. It's it's really a
great product. And when they realized how good it was,
he said, you ought to get this out and put
this into the hands of mechanics.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:21):
And once mechanics got their hands on it, end of it,
I mean, they loved it. They wanted to where can
you get it? Where can you get it? And from
there it just went to all retail locations and that's
where the legacy began.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
That's incredible. And so I'm assuming when you say mixing
it in the bathtub, it was the original PB blaster products,
which it's a penetrant that's different than other sprayed lubricants.
This penetrates the rust.

Speaker 6 (24:51):
That's right, that's right. It wicks him into all those
crevices and little plates of rust and it breaks those
or breaks those plates down in it, and it knocks
that rust down so that you can remove those those
rusty fasteners. It's it's really great you know, on loves
and break break bolts and exhaust manifolds, and it's great

(25:13):
in the garage or the farm. And it comes in
a small spray can, aerosol can, or it comes in
a liquid gallon for those real heavy, heavy, rusted projects
that you're working on.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Sure, it's interesting when you say in a garage, because
you're right taking it from the car to bicycles, to
edgers to lawnmowers. In fact, every time I use my
PB blaster, and everybody's probably got one sitting on their workbench.
And if you don't, you should. I am amazed by
it ted because you know, all of a sudden, I

(25:47):
can't I can't move the nut from the bolt, and
I spray And we'll talk about how the spray it
on there too, because you've advanced this product over the years,
spring on uh, the the nut and the bold assembly
and walking away and just let it sit there for
a while and then when you come back, now you

(26:09):
couldn't even budge this thing right, And now all of
a sudden it's a little and and it breaks loose.
It's it's amazing.

Speaker 6 (26:18):
Yeah, everybody has their uh their PBE story, and mine
is and I always tell the story about my my
dad and I were working on an old boat that
had had an old cable steering mechanism on there and
the cable was completely frozen. It was it was an
old line in boat. These are lake erie boats, they're great.

(26:40):
And it was completely solidly locked up with rust. And
we hung that thing from the top of the garage
and we put we put p B Blaster in there.
Every every couple of hours would spray a little bit
down in there, and spray a little bit down in there,
and pretty soon it it leaked out the bottom. And
we worked at ca until it was loose and put

(27:02):
it back together and it worked.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
That gat everything that is amazing. And the folks at
PBE Blaster and Blaster Products you always are kind of
building a better mouse trap. And I guess it's been
a number of years now. You came up with a
pro straw. When I talked about springing it on to
a bolt in none assembly. Sometimes that's not so easy
and you just need a little bit but you got

(27:24):
to reach up and behind to get to it. And
you invented something where you can just get a little
shot of that on there, or a big shot that's right.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
That's right. This is amazing, This is really amazing. It's
it's innovation either in the in the formulation or in
the delivery system. And we came out with the pro straw.
It's a patented device and it allows you to spray
a fan pattern for those big areas that you want
to knock down and and or flip the straw up
and you can shoot a stream and get to those

(27:54):
hard reach areas. And also if you're working on a
let's just say a hot water down in the basement
and you don't want to get this stuff all over
the place. You have a patented delivery system that allows
you to control the flow. So there's a little dial
on the back of the can you dial it back.

(28:16):
You can put just a little drop of product right
where you want it. And it's amazing.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Yeah, that is really improved that whole delivery system. And
it is a great invention. A PB blaster that you
can find it just about anywhere automotive stores, certainly hardware stores,
so it's easy to find. It's easy to find.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
It's real easy to find. I mean, if at all
the automotive retailers, it's at all the farm and Farm
and agg, it's all the co op hardware stores, it's
all the big box hardware stores. I mean it literally,
drive anywhere in five minutes you'll find a canopy blast. Sure.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Well, I guess one thing we talk about on this
show a lot is how to fix things. The PB
blaster certainly falls in that category. And then when we
talk about fixing things, we always talk about, well, how
can we prevent that? And you've got a product introduced
a number of years ago called surface Shield, and that

(29:13):
prevents it is.

Speaker 6 (29:16):
A excellent, excellent preventative product. You know, we like to
call ourselves rust belt warriors up here in Cleveland, Ohio,
and there's there's quite a bit of rust that forms around.
You know, they mine the salt down underneath the lake
and they bring it up and put it on the
on the highways, and so everything gets rusted. And so

(29:37):
we like to think that we know rust. You know,
we need to penetrate us we could remove rust, and
we can protect with this surface shield, and it's it's
kind of our newest product. It's a landline based moisture
wicked product. It's for all it's really for all metal surfaces.
It doesn't have a strong odor, it doesn't fag, and
it's it's the longest lasting product in the market. It

(29:58):
will last up to two years.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (30:00):
Ok. And it's great for coating undercarriages, snow plows, snow shoes, tools,
farm implements, mower decks, trailers, trailer hitches. This stuff is amazing.
You just spray it on, let it set up for
a while, and then go ahead and use your use
your equipment.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
You know, in this summer, especially where I'm at, we've
had a really hot, humid, wet summer, and so many
people have barns and outbuildings and shops inside them, and
you know, we got all our tools, whether they're garden
tools or hand tools, and that moisture just from the humidity.

(30:40):
Really it doesn't ruin a lot of tools, but it
makes them a lot less effective, and eventually it can
ruin them. You can use them on shovels and spades
and axes and hammers and all kinds of things.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, it's amazing how fast a little
surface rust will appear when you're in those those damp
environments and like you said, if you're if you're out
in the garage or in the shop or down in
the basement, and you know this this product is great.
It comes in it's an amber color.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (31:12):
We also we also have a new product which is
it's a black oh. And this is really good. This
is really great for undercarriages of cars or you know,
people that just want to coke that rust and cover
up that rust but underneath the car. So yeah, it works, works,
really really great. You can get this stuff now. Is
now it's available at at all stores at home depots.

(31:35):
So you know, any home depot you go to, you
should be able to buy a can of surface shield.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
So do you you spray on brush on both black amber?
I got that right?

Speaker 6 (31:49):
You you there's aerosol can. There's an aerosol can. But
it also comes in a gallon, right, and it also
comes in a five gallon container that you would use
a siph and speed gun if you wanted to, let's
just say, do the undercarriage of a car, right, you
know you would you would probably not want to, uh
use an aerosol can. Although you can for sure, right,

(32:10):
but it works. It works really well when when used
with a siphon feed gun.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Yeah. Well, I know you're focusing on cars and bigger things.
I'm kind of just thinking in workshops circular saw blades.
I can't tell you how many times were different places.
And that blade is terrible looking, it's absolutely and you
know in the shop that's just hanging in the jumin
in there they rust.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
Yeah, oh yeah, I got my my son's basketball basketball
hoop is is anchored down outside in the driveway. You
see those bolts and they start rusting over time. You
just take a little can shake it up, just a
couple of little shots and those nuts and bolts and
and they're perfect. You know, they'll last forever.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
That's interesting to well, I know Blaster does have a
whole line of products. We've just focused on a couple
of them for rust this time of year. I've talked
about your you know, your silicons and teflons for tracks
and windows, you know in the spring and the fall,
so that we're getting close to that this time of

(33:16):
year when we have extremes heat and then extremes cold.
Your garage door lubricants is a go to product I
hear people using all kinds of crazy things on uh,
you know, springs and rails and rollers. That isn't really
necessarily good. Your garage door lubricant is the best I've
ever used.

Speaker 6 (33:36):
It is amazing, It is amazing. It's it's it is
a silicon based formula with with a zinc additive, so
that zinc works under those extreme high pressures that a
garage door will experience. And you can coat, like you said,
you can coat the rollers, you can coat the springs,
you can coat all the articulating points of a garage door.

(33:58):
And you know, you could hear, you know, when you're
sitting in there. And it was it was really took
fire when COVID all those people that were working from
home and they'd open up their garage door and they
would finally hear that thing squeaking, no kidding, And so
they they went and got a can of a blastered

(34:18):
garage door Loube and it solved all their problems. And
now it's nice and quiet and missed the blast for
a long time. It's really really a good product.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Yes it is. I had a caller one time say,
after he did it, he went in his house pressed
closed the door and had to come back out and
make sure it closed.

Speaker 6 (34:37):
So you hear those kind of stories all the time.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Yeah, the website for people can check out some more
of the products and take a look at the surface
shield and the PB Blaster that we just spoke of.

Speaker 6 (34:49):
Oh yeah, www dot Blastercorp dot com. And that's the
one thing. You know, a lot of people that are
our big PB fans, they have no idea of all
the products right week Garry and from luber Kents to
Greaces to you know, even now we've we're the owners
of the Gunk product, which is you know, your your

(35:11):
cleaners and degreasers and liquid wrench as well, so that
brand is all under the Blaster umbrella.

It's eight hundred eight two three eight two five five Eddie, welcome.

Speaker 4 (39:13):
Good morning Gary.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
How are you doing fine, sir? Thank you?

Speaker 4 (39:17):
Okay. My kitchen cabinets fifteen years old, the cherry wood,
and we're in the process of changing the handles, okay,
and we're noticing that behind some of the handles on
the most frequently used cabinets it's very very shiny. And
we've tried the Millsex furniture polish and multipurpose cleaner. We've

(39:41):
tried alcohol, and we just can't get the shine off
behind the handles.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Any suggestion, So is that the finish.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
No, the finish is like a flat finish. It's not
sealed a polyurethane or anything like that. But behind the
doors that we use most frequently, Uh, it's very very shiny.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Hmm. So what do you what do you suspect that is?
Is it a wax because there has to be something
of a protect and put on those cherry cabinets.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
I don't know. I'm like, all around it is flat,
but right behind the handles where you grab it with
your fingers, it's shiny, almost like it's burroled.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Okay. So so there's different kind of handles, there's knobs,
there's pools, and then there's prices. Okay, so where your
fingers would go into that pool, that's where it's shiny,
right behind correct.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
Correct, And it's only on a couple of doors.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
Okay. Is it near a cooking range, an oven or
something like that?

Speaker 4 (40:56):
No?

Speaker 1 (40:57):
No, what happened when you use the millsick?

Speaker 4 (41:03):
I mean maybe the cabinets nice and clean, but it
won't take the sheen off behind the handles.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
I can tell you what I think it is, and
I could be wrong, and that could be right. But
when you have a pool like that and you're you're
grabbing the pool, your hands would rarely touch the wood
behind that pool.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
And well, I mean the poles aren't that big. Like
I'm touching it now, my fingers barely fit behind the.

Speaker 1 (41:32):
Pole, right, So you usually just grab the pool maybe
with your fore finger and thumb. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (41:40):
Yeah, will my wife hands small and she'll pull it.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
Yeah. I kind of really feel like it's the finish.
And if you don't feel it's the finish, the only
other thing I could think of would be it would
be a buildup of wax or an oil from our
hands or cooking.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
Yeah, yeah, that's what I was thinking. That's why I
was trying and all these cleaning products, and go back and.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
Use that Millsick again. Let it sit on there before
you scrub away. Take that handle off, put it on there,
let it sit and really scrub it. It's one of
the it removes old wax oils and it's super effective.

Speaker 4 (42:21):
Oh, I know, we use it in all our furniture.

Speaker 1 (42:25):
Yeah, and I'd try it again. If that's not going
to work, maybe just try some mineral spirits. Outside of that,
the only other way I would know to get rid
of it would be some abrasion. And you don't want
to use that. Yeah, you know, maybe eat some six

(42:45):
hundred grit sandpaper, but I'd be scared to do it.

Speaker 4 (42:49):
No, I must stand that. Yeah, so my wife was
on YouTube looking at different things and that was one
of the things. Stand it and then restain it with
an oil based stain that I don't know what if
I want to go that route.

Speaker 1 (43:02):
Yeah, I don't either. But if it is oils or
a buildup of wax, which usually gets a little gummy
in other words, not not gummy. Yeah, if you could
take your your your thumb and just really rub it,
rub it, rub it, it would be gummy enough where
it would almost start rolling up, you know, it starts

(43:23):
start sticking. So that's why I think it's some of
the finish. But if it is a finish, the only
way you would get rid of that is again, if
you want to try some of that it's the wet,
dry six hundred grid and just just try just the
tip of it a little bit, or if you got

(43:45):
an old piece of that cherry molding or something.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
Yeah, I am which I do, maybe put it on.

Speaker 1 (43:52):
Air and see what it does, and even holding it
up and see if it looks anything like.

Speaker 4 (43:59):
That sounds good, I'll give it a shot. Gary, thank
you so much.

Speaker 1 (44:02):
