Speaker 1 (00:34):
Well, it's a weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Welcome at home with Gary Solvn.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
This hours brought to you by Dice Coatings Track Safe
Anti Slip Sealer from Dice Codings. That's all. Whether durability
anti slip can use it indoors or out, you can
get track Safe the anti slip Sealer at Low's home depot,
Amazon and Dice Codings dot Com. All right, taking your

(00:57):
calls as we always do in uh, getting started on
another weekend, getting a few things done around the home.
Happy to have you. Let me give you that number,
and Danny boy is in the chair ready to take
your call at eight hundred eight two three A two
five five. All right, man. The crazy weather continues, no doubt. Southwest.

(01:21):
See those temperatures mid teens, mid hundreds and teens like
one hundred and fifteen, and not going to do too
much work outside on concrete or things like that. But
in other areas, just a little word of caution if
it's you know, direct, something like three o'clock in the
afternoon and that temperature is above ninety and maybe you

(01:43):
want to seal concrete, maybe you want to paint outside,
maybe you want to kill fungus molds, mildews, et cetera.
Just read the product of the container on the on
the product of temperature limitations. A lot of times evaporation
from direct sunlight in hot temperatures can cause that product

(02:04):
not to well fully service your needs. So just pay
attention to that. It's I'm not saying you can't do.
It depends on the product, but best really to work
before noon and probably after six during the real hot
humid weather. Again, that number is eight hundred.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Eight two three eight two five five and Dan, we'll
let you lead us off.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Welcome, Hey, thank you, very appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
You bet.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
I have a question on my air conditioning unit. Got
HVAC and I had some work done on it. And
basically now that the work has been done, I'm noticing
when I go down that the I'm guessing it's kind
of like a drain off for the humidity runs down

(02:55):
to the also the drain in the floor, Yes, sir,
And when they put it back together, it looks as
though comes out everything looks okay. But at the very
top where it comes off of the air unit and
grows down and pipes over to that drain, the top
of that it's open. So I mean, so it goes

(03:18):
up about two where I actually inch and a half higher,
And I was wondering if that's what that was for
if it's.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, yeah, it's kind of like the vent on the
roof of the bard. It's kind of like the vent
on the roof of your your home. You know, air
need or water to flow needs air also, And that's
just like a little vent. So when it comes out
of the unit, there's usually like a tee, so the
pipe is straight, the tea goes on, the pipe goes

(03:48):
down elbow in the floor drain at the top. It's
just left open, and you know, if it gets clogged,
that's your port of cleaning it out. Maybe put a
little bleach down there on occasion, but yeah, that's designed
to be that way.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Okay, one other question then, and this is just a
I'm getting a bonus here. I guess I'm my water heater.
When you drain it out, is that safe to drain
over to that same drain? I mean I was never know,
but somebody told me that I should be trying to

(04:25):
flush that out every so often.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Yeah, So, how old's the water heater? Dan?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
It's about two years right now?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Okay, has it ever been drained before.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Once?

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Okay, all right. The reason I lely always ask that
question is if somebody's got a ten year old water
heater and they just heard the news that you're supposed
to drain it on occasion, the sediment in there could
be holding your water heater together. So I always tell people, listen,
if you haven't done it in ten years, let's not
start now.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
But yeah you should maybe probably.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
MA, you know, once a year's more than enough. And
I don't even know if you really need to fully
drain it. I think at the very least, what I
would do is, uh, you know, connect the garden hose
down to the valve at the bottom, and you know,
just you can even leave everything functioning, leave the water
on and everything just kind of run off of three

(05:21):
or four gallons, a couple of gallons and just see
if you got clear water. So that's taking the water
off down at the bottom and if it's clear or
if it's brown, and then after a couple of gallons
it starts running clear. I think you've done enough, you
shut it off and call to day. But if it
if you start draining, you know, four and five, six,

(05:42):
seven gallons and still brown. Then I think I would
shut off the water, maybe shut off the power completely
drain that and uh but my guess is you're not
going to have that issue. But yeah, i'd top off
of you know, two three gallons of and see if
it's clear.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Great, Thank you so much. I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Hell very good. Have a great weekend. Take care all
right again, it's eight hundred eight two three eight two
five five and Dave welcome. Hi Jary, Yes, sir.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
My question.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
My question is I have some holes in my driveway
in the middle where the concrete. It's a concrete driveway, okay,
and the driveway is probably you know, thirty some years old,
and I'm trying to fill them. They're probably about four
inches deep and maybe uh six inches wide, so it's

(06:43):
it's a little bit more than a patching material, I
think anyway. So I'm just looking for recommendations just what
I can do in those situations.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yeah, yeah, So what was there? What was something installed there?
How did that get it?

Speaker 7 (07:06):
That? I don't know?

Speaker 6 (07:08):
Yeah, that's it may have been. It may have just
been from I don't know whether it was a weak
point in the concrete because it's right at the connection
of the blocks.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Oh okay, okay, So so it's a pretty big chunk.
And concrete on a driveway is usually four inches thick,
so that is it down to the gravel? Yes, humh
that's interesting. I would say, you know, a lot of

(07:45):
the topping compounds that we talk about, like the vinyl
concrete patcher, those are only able to be really applied
up to about you know, half an inch three as
so half an inch, So we certainly don't want to
use that. There's there is a product. One thing you
could use is like a regular sand mix and then

(08:07):
use a an adhesion product in the sand mix. Or
you could probably get a product called anchoring cement. Anchoring
cement is like if you wanted to have a hole
on concrete and put like a stadium seed in and
you know, stick it right into the concrete. It's for
anchoring bolts and rods and things like that, and it

(08:30):
wouldn't require a bonding agent. It's already in there. I'd
be honest with you, I'd have to read the label
to see if that would be usable. That would be
the easiest as long as it can be applied up
to a depth of four inches. And I and I
don't know that I've used it to repair like the
corner of a step that's broken off, and you make

(08:53):
like a ball about the size, you know, depending on
how big it is, a softball, even a basketball, and
you put pins and so that that's more than a
four inches thick. So I'm assuming you can use an
anchoring cement with that, so it just be clean cleaned
out the best you can and literally create this patch

(09:13):
in a shape of a ball and force it down
in there. And then even if you just pack it
in there and let it dry and then come back
with the vinyl concrete patcher as a smoothing agent for
the surface, if that's needed, I would say that would
be the easiest fix. Now I want to back up
just a little bit if that's not the way you

(09:35):
want to go for whatever reason. It's not going to
be too expensive, but it'd be certainly more expensive than
like sand mix. So sand mix would be a concrete
it wouldn't have the rocks in it, and you would
use that along with a concrete bonding agent. I think
for like a sixty pound bag, you get a bonding agent,

(09:57):
a quart a bonding agent, mix it up and pour
that in there, But I just feel like that anchoring
smead probably be a little bit more durable.

Speaker 6 (10:08):
Can you get where do you get anchoring cement? Is
that just like at a home depot.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Or yeah, home depot Lows you go went back in
the asle, you know where they have all the quick
creete products. It quick crets. You know, they make the
ba bag mixes, like the sand mixed mortar mixed concrete mix.
But they probably have the biggest selection of specialty products
where you don't have to buy big begs of it.
Maybe it's just a little pail of five pounds anchoring cement.

(10:33):
It's got the bonding agent, it's got the you know,
the cement in there, and it's really add water and pour.
So just a little bit easier, a little bit more
of a convenience item.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
Okay, I'll give it a try.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Very good. Thanks for the call, appreciate it all right.
If you'd like to join us, please do so. We
got Ron Wilson. He's coming up at the bottom of

(13:57):
know about your yard and landscaping, but boy, where I live,
certainly the amount of rainfall and the heat this year
has made things grow quite nicely, and it also breeds
more problems. Heard Ron Wilson are gardening expert talking about
the crab grass and different things in our lawns. So

(14:19):
we bring Ron on once again a weekly conversation on
the landscaping and lawn And Ron Wilson, how in the
world are you?

Speaker 8 (14:30):
I'm great? And plus you know all the maintenance crews,
landscaping crews, lawn crews that work at your house also
help them make that look so nice.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Yeah, you know this, You're You're exactly right.

Speaker 8 (14:43):
I was you don't have landscaping, cruise and lawn. I
thought you did that.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
I do, Okay, I do. And I was mowing and
one thing you were talking about crag grass. I noticed
the same thing, A lot of crabgrass and that weed
with a little fly. I always forget the name of
it not flowers, but little leafs that pull out real easy.
That's everywhere. And a lot of crazy like annual grasses

(15:11):
like wild bermuda and stuff.

Speaker 8 (15:14):
Wow, wild bermuda.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Yeah, wow, you got man, where do you maybe grass?
I don't know, it's it's not the nutst Actually there's
all kinds of those weird grasses growing.

Speaker 8 (15:27):
Yeah, And we were, yeah, we were. We were talking
about that this morning because you know, we got off
the last fall for us in our area. In many areas,
lawns took a beating, right, they're really thinned out, and
then we had a horribly dry, warm fall which made
it tough to seed and get the seed up and growing.
So we got into the spring season and some seated
and some didn't, and then it took off quickly and

(15:49):
the rain took off, and there the grass started growing
and things were green, and it was like, wow, we're okay.
But then you start looking close and guess what. Most
of that green isn't the lawn. You know, it's other
things like nimblewell and you know crab grass and field
pass paale them and you know all of the and
some of those orchard grasses in Dallas grass Yeah, that's
that's foxtail, and you know they just creep, you know,

(16:12):
just crazy now, just and little bluegrass too.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
It'd a bit about that. You talk about how the
lungs it thinned out, but even in the landscaping beds,
the amount of weeds this year is it? You know,
people that use like we'd preventive in everything, and with
all the rain, does that just get in the heat
and the sun, does that just get diluted out?

Speaker 8 (16:33):
And it does?

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Maybe the longevity isn't you know, you get in a regular.

Speaker 8 (16:37):
Year, sun really takes a toll on it. Excessive moisture
takes a toll on it. So you know, you put
down a pre emergent says ninety days, and if you
have a lot of son, you have a lot of rainfall,
it can maybe only last seventy days, all right, So
you got to kind of keep that in the mind
and when you do a pre emergent that you know
you're gonna have to apply it again, especially in the
landscape beds. I always try to do it about two

(17:00):
weeks in advance of when you anticipated it running out,
and again, if you had a lot of rainfall, maybe
even back it up to three weeks, so there's an
overlap there of the two pre emergence. But yeah, weeds
the same way. Weeds have had a great and in
the landscape and the vegetable garden, anual bets have had
a great spring. I mean that summer they've just done

(17:20):
exceptionally well. That's along with along with everything else. So
I think the thing about weeds that folks need to
keep in mind, especially this time of the year, is
you don't want those to get a foothold. You know,
if it's a perennial weed, and the longer you let
it grow and the more root system it develops, the
harder it is to get rid of it. If those
plants go to seed, flower and set seed, you just

(17:43):
started the whole thing all over again, and now you're
dealing with hundreds of seeds. So twofold one is if
anything at all, don't ever let them flower. If they grow,
that's one thing, but cut them off at if you
can't get it pulled out, and second they get rid
of them. Don't give up on the weeds. Right now
is a really good time to walk around and just
get rid of anything that doesn't belong in any of

(18:06):
your beds, because I tell you, if you don't next thing,
you know it's fall, you're not doing anything about it.
And they're set for next year. Yeah, they are.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Another thing I'm finding is little seedlings from other trees
and other bushes growing in bushes. I'd always find a
little bit here and there, but it's like in every
bush there's a maple tree or a Virginia creeper. There's
just everything in there.

Speaker 8 (18:31):
Well again, you know you're right elms. A lot of
the Lace Park elms. I still get seeds from when
we had that went down about three years ago. They
still pop up. Red bud seeds. We get those everywhere.
Maples will pop up here and there. Pre emerging oversides
sometimes don't do as good of a job on those
larger seeds. Seeds like that. They'll stop some of them,

(18:52):
maybe not all of them. So but the thing good
about those is you see one or two, you know
they may be hard to pull out because it put
a little nice little route out there. What easy to
chop out. Once you do, they're pretty well done.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Sure sure, Sure you were talking about box woods on
your show, Ron and I was down my son's house
and he has them up right against the wall of
the front of his house. And he's got four of
the most good looking box woods. I mean, is protection
with a house? Is that helpful?

Speaker 8 (19:24):
It can be, but sometimes you get hurt. You if
the rainfall doesn't get there, Well it's the backsize dry
at But yeah, that that foundation canna be a little
bit of protection.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Eh. Maybe he doesn't clean his gutters.

Speaker 8 (19:37):
He doesn't clean the gutters.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
You never know. Thanks Ron your calls. Next, You're at

It's eight hundred eight two three eight two five five
lines are wide open, so feel free to give us

(22:57):
you and I will chat. You know, uh, schools, I
think even next week some schools start and kids off
the college and things like that, and we always take
a couple of weeks about this time of year and
give some cleaning tips, which is always recommended, you know,
once school starts, of course, hopefully, hopefully people are spending

(23:18):
a little bit more time at that desk and workstations
in the house and you want to make sure they're
clean Germ free. A wonderful cleaner for that is the
cleaner and disinfectant by jaws. Spray a rag. Wipe down
the keyboards. You can get a compressed air, can't it
compressed air remove the dust the grime from the keyboards.

(23:41):
That's a good idea too. Also wipe down shelves, doorknobs,
chair arms, and when you're cleaning and dusting shelves, if
you spray a microfiber tile and need jaws multipurpose cleaner,
I just use the multipurpose cleaner just the other day
for wonderful products. Great for cleaning up and picking up

(24:03):
a dust again. JAW stands for just add water system.
When you run out, you fill it with water and
put a new cartridge in. They got the glass cleaner,
the kitchen degree. So the all works. Check it out
and get a little uh well, I guess fall cleaning,
late summer cleaning, back to school cleaning. Call it as
you wish, and we certainly I do. I have a

(24:27):
I have a whole shelf of all their products. Good stuff.
All right, Again, the lines are available, so feel free
to give us the calls. We start working on things
around the home. Another thing to talk about, too, is
with the heat the air conditioner.

Speaker 8 (24:42):
GIESE.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
I'm getting all kinds of emails about trying to conserve
energy and all that, and I understand, believe me, I
got the same issues. But one of the things you
might check is once you condition that air, it's going
through the duck work. If some of your duckwork as
a spot exposed in the basement, really take a look

(25:04):
at the seams where the two pipes fit together. What
you might find is some gaps, and you can use
black electrical tape if you want to use that. You
can use aluminum tape. That's what I use. It's not
duct tape. In fact, I wouldn't use duct tape. It's
like too strong. But aluminum tape is very very It's

(25:25):
almost like renals wrap with an adhesive on it, about
two inches wide, and tape those seams. If you have
larger holes, you can use silicone. Just put some silicone
colocking around it. But let's see as much of that
duckwork as we can I mean, we're paying to get
that air condition and we're pumping it through the house.

(25:46):
Let's not let it escape in the basement in the
storage area where you know. I can't help you around
the behind the walls, but on stuff we can see
it might be a little savings there to pick up.
All right again, it's eight under ad eight two three
eight two five five Dan.

Speaker 10 (26:02):
Welcome, Hello sir, good morning, good morning. I have a
question for you about miracle method. I heard you uh
talk about it before, and I've seen some of it
here in Fayeteville, and I had it done to my
tub and shower, okay, and for years I have used

(26:24):
the wet and Forget for showers with real good results.
And I was wondering, since I couldn't find anything in
the literature that they gave me, is the wet and
Forget safe to use on the miracle method of POxy.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
I can't say definitively yes, but I can say I'm
pretty dug I'm sure yes, which probably isn't good I'm
taking that too, probably isn't good enough. Well, but I
can tell you how you can get a very definitive
answer pretty easily. Forget has a thing on Facebook called
wet and Forget Crew. All you got to do is
I and follow them and they have their top research people.

(27:05):
Follow that link and I'll tell you people post. You
can post all your questions there and you get an
answer within an hour.

Speaker 7 (27:14):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Yeah, it's pretty good, but it should not. They may
need more information about the miracle methods system, but I
don't think so. It's a good heart epoxy. Yeah, I
don't think it will affect it, but I would check
with them for sure.

Speaker 10 (27:32):
Well, I know that in the literature that the technician
handed me it said no bleach and big capital letters,
so and I know that wait forget, it's not a bleach,
but I just want to be sure before I started
spraying it on a Yeah.

Speaker 7 (27:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Another thing I always do is whenever i'm using something
i'm really not sure, i'd still post it for sure.
But if they're not going to give you, I would
say a pretty definitive answer. But if they don't, you know,
back in a corner, just put a little on your
finger and just kind of rub it and see what happens.

(28:07):
But I think it'll stand up to it quite nicely.
And if I'm not, I think you can even use
that Wet and Forget shower on Marble. I'd have to recheck,
but I know the wedding forgets some of the products
you can't but I think this maybe it's the shower
you can't use on Marble. I'd have to read that
a little further, but I think you'd be okay. But

(28:28):
post it on that to a wed and Forget crew.
Is the name of that link.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Well, I sure appreciate it and appreciate your show.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Very good Dan, Thanks take care, bye bye. All right again,
it's eight hundred and eight two three eight two five
five and they do by the way, if you not
familiar with the wedd and Forget, they got a new
product out there. It was really cool. Um tried it
when they first brought it to market. Where it's a

(28:56):
hose en kind of like the Wet and Forget, which
gets rid of the out g the mold, the streaking
on roofs and all that. Now they got one which
cleans screens and exterior of windows using that same bottle.
So that bottle has a range of about twenty five
feet on a calm day connected to a hose and

(29:21):
spray it even if the screens are on the outside,
which is where they're going to be. In most cases,
spray it cleans the screens and cleans the windows. Just
spray it on and be surprised. But it'll brighten things up.
And if you lived in an area where it's you know,
maybe there's some construction, it's kind of dusty. It's a

(29:44):
handy little product to have and works well, does what
it says it's going to do. And be careful when
using any of those spraym products. Again, when it's a
full sun at three in the afternoon, you know, in
the nineties, it's probably not the best day or time

(30:06):
to apply that. Whenever you're working with products like that,
you want to do it, you know, in the morning
till noon or after six in the evening. You want
to minimize the evaporation, even if it's patching concrete. Let's
go to David. David. Welcome, Hi Gary, Hello.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
I have a question. You always advertise a drain cleaner.
It's an additive. Now it's it's not drain o or
it was a different product that took care of the
the bacteria and everything in the day.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Yeah, so yeah, it wasn't really an advertisement. I was
just a product that I've used. I picked up in
the hardware store. So a lot of the especially in
vanity sinks. Everything's a jail now, toothpaste, the odor in hairspray, everything,
and it starts accumulating bacteria, whether it's you know, pieces,

(31:06):
you know it, flakes of skin or whiskers or whatever,
and it starts having an odor. So the one I'm
familiar with, it's it's a bacilius, So it's a bacteria.
It's a cultured bacteria, and it's called drain bow. Drain Bow.
Now there's all yeah, there's all kinds of them though,

(31:27):
quite honestly, and I don't know if I really have
a favorite. I haven't used all of them, but I
know Draino's in the market now with enzymes, enzymes that
eat bacteria, but just stay away from the assets.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
And is it in a vanity it's well, yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
Well the tubs.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
And the vanity all okay, okay? In tubs, is it
slow running?

Speaker 5 (31:54):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (31:55):
You know what it might be in in a tub
or if you shower, is hair.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
That's probably what it is.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Yeah, So I'll give you another little tip. It's usually
that hair gets clogged, you know, the the the the
drain goes down and maybe three four inches and then
there's a pipe that runs underneath the tub. It usually
gets clogged right at that elbow, and there's a little

(32:23):
it's a little plastic maybe three foot long, called a
zip it. Oh yeah, okay, And that's what I use
in the tub and even in the vanities if I
use that usually first because that brainbow is not really
going to be super effective with hair, so removing that

(32:45):
and it smells because you know, again you get shampoo
and conditioners on it and starts smelling. But use the
zip it and then come back with a drainbow or
an enzyme drain cleaner and it should help you out.

Speaker 5 (33:00):
Giry, good, all right, you Gary.

Speaker 1 (33:02):

Doug welcome. Yeah, Hi Gary, good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 7 (36:36):
I got a couple of health concerns. I'll try to
be as specific as I can and as quick as
I can. I live on I live in an apartment complex.
I live on the second floor. I was in my
neighbor's apartment the other day and his apartment is full

(36:58):
of mold. I guess you would call it white mold.
I don't know that much about mold, but it's like
a white color and it's all over everything, furniture, clothing.
He went away for a couple of weeks to help
family member, and he came back and that's what he found.
So my concern with that is me living right above him.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
We have a.

Speaker 7 (37:23):
Ventilation system where the uh, you know, the your conditioning
units in our in the apartment complex for each apartment obviously,
so with that being so full of mold and the
problem hasn't been addressed, and.

Speaker 10 (37:41):
It probably won't be for a little probably.

Speaker 7 (37:44):
A few weeks, I would guess He's well, I don't
know that for sure, but anyway, it's it's probably going
to be a album for the address the problem. And
my concern with that is me living right up above
him and me having a ventilation system. I did change
my ear and my filter on my unit, my fourteen

(38:09):
by fourteen by one. This is rated for mold spores,
so I put that in. Thankfully I had that on hand.
But so my question for you is, should I be
concerned about the possibility of mold spores between the ventilation system? Maybe?

Speaker 1 (38:29):
Yeah, Well, let me just kind of First of all,
there's over three hundred different species of mold. The majority
is what they call penicillium. But then, you know, I'm
not making it sound like it's nothing. I'm just saying
that that's what it is. It's a little less dangerous.
There's some very potent mold spores. The longer it goes,

(38:50):
they seem to get stronger and stronger. But there's mold
spores everywhere. There's mult spaar's outside, there's mold spores in
everybody's home and every buddy's apartment. But if you have
an abundance of growth, you know, in a unit right
below you, you'll probably have a little bit more mold
spores in your apartment than you should have. Mold spores

(39:14):
will colonize when they have moisture and organic material, and
that's how they reproduce, so they'll start a colony, and
so you're certainly subject to that. You will be able
to usually smell mold. So obviously where I'm going with
this is there's a couple things. The best thing is

(39:37):
to reduce the amount of mold spores. Make sure you
don't have any leaks. Make sure you run ventilation fans
in your apartment, because we don't want them to start colonizing. Okay,
so you know his his problem is it could be
relatively easy to solve by getting like a dis infectant

(40:00):
and mold removing product. I know Wet and Forget has
an indoor one where you simply spray it and it
will kill the mold when you leave your house. If
you don't have the acion and it's closed up, and
we don't have moving air with fans, I mean, you know,

(40:21):
these things happen all right. The humidity probably got real high.
The organic material on furniture was probably dust. It began
to grow, you got a little white film on there.
We've got to kill that. We got to kill that
as soon as we can. That's going to be helpful.
So a mold disinfectant and mold remover would be key.
Now when I talked about, you know, reducing the amount

(40:46):
of mold spores, you would certainly do that by killing it.
You talked about a filter that you used on air
filters on air handlers, Those will be helpful. There are
what they call MERV ratings on filters, okay, right, and
I don't know what kind of MERV rating, but you
can get a MIRV rating, you know, up to around

(41:08):
twelve fourteen, maybe even fifteen. I haven't really checked what
the highest is anymore, but you know, if it was
about a you know, twelve dollars filter, it's probably got
a pretty good MERV rating filter or a MIRV rating.
If it's probably four or five dollars, it's probably got
like a MIRV four or five, and I'd probably try
to step up to the higher one that would be

(41:29):
able to fill out smaller and more and more spores.
So you know, might maybe look for that double digit
MIRV rating for the filter you want to use. So
that's kind of pretty much the story, you know, that's
you know, that's probably where i'd start.

Speaker 7 (41:50):
Okay, the filter I have that it's rated for mold sports.
It says right on the package, filter three. I'm still street.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
That's a good.

Speaker 7 (42:01):
Thousand and powerful performance rating.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (42:06):
The other thing I have is a power style UH
air purifier.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 7 (42:16):
On air yourself. Yeah, I've been running that since I've
constantly since I learned about his problem downstairs.

Speaker 10 (42:26):
Sure, so okay, yeah, there's very much.

Speaker 1 (42:31):
Yeah, there there's all kinds. I know. Odor Exit even
has one a product called Mom's where it's a chlorine dioxide.
You moisten the packet, clip it to a fan and
it kills multi spores that are already in the air.
So you know, most sports will be in the air.
There'll be an abundance of them, just because where that
person's apartment is located versus yours, And we just want

(42:55):
to minimize that so that you don't have an allergic reaction.
But again, the biggest thing you want to protect from
is the ability of those sports to start growing. So
you know, when you shower you know, you run the
fan and run for a half hour. After you run
the fan, keep your humidity in check. Because that's how
his got started. I mean, like I said, they're everywhere.

(43:17):
They're in everybody's room right now.

Speaker 7 (43:21):
Yeah, he wasn't home for two weeks, so he had
it shut off. Yeah, that's making sense. Just telling me
that answers my first question. And I'm going to make
the second question quick because I know you have other
people waiting air conditioning. About months ago, I had an
air conditioning man come out and refill my coolant because

(43:42):
my air conditioning wasn't working properly, and they took care
of that, but he did say before he left it
I had a leak and that he'd have to reschedule
and come back and to fix the leak. So I
checked with.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
My building, my building manager, and.

Speaker 7 (44:00):
They said that, oh, he'll be okay having that refrigerant
re refill the last for years.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
Well, yeah, I'll tell you what. You're You're right, we're
gonna be up against the hour. But you're right, sometimes
we just have low refrigering just because we test and
do maintenance and they you know, he's exactly right. I
think you can do either, or if you can wait
and see till you start seeing it not cooling as
well and then they're going to fix the leak, or

(44:31):
you can schedule and have you know, be proactive. You're
trying to be proactive. They're kind of not so, you know,
I don't think you're really going to hurt anything. There
might be a little discomfort when you start seeing that's
not cooling like it should. That's when you're going to
have to get him out there for sure. Hope that helps.
We'll continue with your calls, Charlie and Gary, you'll be

(44:51):
up first. You're at Home with Gary Sullivan.
