Speaker 1 (00:03):
All right, back here it we go. You're at home
with Gary Sullivan.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
And over the years I've talked about a product from
dish Coatings. In fact, I've talked about numerous products from
dish coatings, from countertop coatings and cover up that old
laminate countertop, to different seilers, to roll a rock and
spreadstone for outdoor and indoor concrete surfaces. And well we
(00:28):
have Peter Dice from dish Coatings once again with us,
and Peter welcome again at home with Gary Salvan.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
How you doing, Hey, I'm doing well.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Good morning, Gary morning, Good morning. So let's talk about safety.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Around the homes. I know.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
You sent me a lot of data about falls and
we get a lot of calls about different things and
how do we make things slip resistant. Let's talk about
the tracks Safe anti slip sealer that you have. Tell
me a little bit about that particular product and where
(01:08):
you can use that.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Well, you can use it just about anywhere. It's great
for slippery concrete, stamped concrete, it works on tile, it
works on linoleum, a bunch of different surfaces. But you know,
even right now, we're right in the middle of swimming
pool season and you've got a lot of wet surfaces
and bare feet and it's a great recipe for slips
(01:35):
and falls. So you know, this is something that you
apply and it adds very very effective slip resistance. And
you know, I mean, we all know the facts about
slips and falls, and you know, sometimes it's just an
embarrassing little, you know, mishap where you go down and
you get up and you're basically fine, but you know,
(01:55):
it can also be something catastrophic and something that can
literally be life changing. And you know, not everyone in
the population is young. Some folks are older. We have
an aging population here in the United States, and you
know we want to you know, avoid that if we can.
And that's the whole idea behind truck safe.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
You know the National Flooring Safety Institute. One of the
facts you sent, which I appreciate, falls account for eight
million hospital emergency rooms. Visits represent the leading cause of
visits and that that is amazing. And I know, even
pressure treated would like if you have a garage and
they put pressure treated wood steps maybe two steps going
(02:42):
into the mud room or something, and you got wet
shoes on because there's raining outside. That pressure treated wood
can even be slippery.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Absolutely, and all it takes is one little you know,
usually you're fine, but you know sometimes you can slip,
and you can slip and maybe you know, grab that
rail if you have one, and you're okay. But if
you go down and you hit the ground, the ground
is you know, not terribly accommodating. You know, you hit it,
(03:12):
and you know it can be, you know, literally a
life changing thing, and it's something that can be so
easily fixed literally in a day, and you know it
just will give you that much additional insurance. Really, it's
just a slip resistance that you want.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
So the the track Safe product and we'll get into
how to use it in different things. But you mentioned
stamp concrete and you're right. Stamp concrete usually is a
gloss type seiler that's applied over the stamp concrete and
I can guarantee you when that gets wet, it's slippery. Now,
(03:51):
the track Safe anti slip seiler is that a gloss finish,
a satin finish, or you can't tell it's there, or
tell me about the film itself.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
On the track.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Safe, it's a sat and finish. And basically the whole
idea is that what you have there currently is maybe
something that you like the look of, so you don't
want to change it, but you want to add the
slip resistance that you know, whether it's due in the
morning or during rain, or around a pool deck, or
(04:26):
on steps in a garage as you say, which is
an excellent example, or even a painted outdoor wood deck.
I mean, all of these surfaces. You may like the
look of them, but you don't want it to be dangerous.
And let's face it, we want to protect not just
ourselves but also our family, loved one's friends, and even
(04:47):
even customers who may be coming. You know, if you're
a business owner, you don't want anyone slipping and falling
on your property. So it's just an immediate fix. So
if you like the look of what you've got, but
you don't want to have slip and fall issues, you
can drastically reduce any kind of problems there by simply
(05:08):
applying a clear treatment that now makes that surface very
very slip resistance, but you still have the look that
you you know that you like.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
So are you saying like if I have Let's just
say I just stained the garage floor and then I
put a gloss seiler on it to protect it. Would
I put the track Safe over the existing ceiler, or
would I use the track Safe as the ceiler.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
You can use the track Safe as the ceiler, or
you can put it over the existing ceiler. And if
you're putting over an existing ceiler, I mean track Safe
even works on top of the POxy. So let's say
you've got an a POxy floor in your garage and
you love the look of the floor, you know, but
if you've ever walked on an a POxy floor that's wet.
(05:59):
Let's say you pulled into the garage and it was raining,
you slip on that you are going for a ride.
You put on the track Safe and you have excellent
slip resistance, and you still have the look that you like,
but it's now a safe surface, safer surface to walk on.
There are no guarantees in life, but this is extremely
(06:20):
slip resistant. Then it really really adds, you know, a
lot of protection.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
And it seems like, well, it doesn't seem like it
is a very versatile product. You could use it as
the ceiler. You can if everything's looking great. I use
the example of a garage floor, whether it's not a
POxy coating, whether it's a stain coating and you like it,
so you could use it as a ceiler. You could
(06:45):
put it over a ceiler and it all of a
sudden it becomes difficult to fall on.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Yeah, And even let's say let's say you've got stain.
Let's say you stained your wood deck and you know,
you know the story on stain on wood decks is,
you know, you're almost staining basically every year. So if
you stained your deck and you put the track safe on,
you've got two things. Now you've got excellent slip resistant
(07:17):
you know, safety added to that surface, but you've also
now protected that stained surface further from the element, so
that maybe you don't have to stain it next year
or the year after or the year after, because you've
got some armor there that's protecting not only it, but
hopefully also.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
You Now you can use this indoor or outdoors.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Correct, you can, So you can use it even let's
say on the tile that's that's in your bathroom when
you step out of the bathtub. That's one great way
to you know, slip and fall. I'm sure that there
are a lot of statistics that would point to the
fact that slips and falls. You know, stepping out of
(07:59):
bathtubs is probably fairly high. So you can put this
on the floor outside there. You can use it in
your tile shower. You know, there are so many ways
that that you know, protection would be a great thing,
and uh, you know, track Safe with its slip resistant performance,
will will certainly help you to do that.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
So, Peter, you brought up a good point, and I'm
sure other people listening went ooh when you said in
a shower. So let's say you have a fiberglass shower pan,
or maybe you have the one inch ceramic tiles in
the shower. The track Safe could be applied to both
(08:44):
of those substrates.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Either one of those you can you can put it
on the tile, but with with the fiberglass stuff, you
may need to scuff it a little bit first, okay,
So generally we would we would suggest that it be
used on pile, yeah okay, or concrete or something of
that nature in a shower.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Get one to get that clear. How many coats.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Would you that's a great question. You would put on
two coats, maybe three hours apart. If it's indoors, you
may want to give it an extra few hours, so
maybe two coats, maybe six hours apart. Because indoors you
don't have as much airflow, you don't have the sun,
(09:28):
you don't have any of those things, so you may
need to give it a little bit longer to dry,
but basically two coats of that and the following day.
The slip resistance that you have is you know, massively
different than what you may have had before.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Is this a water based product?
Speaker 3 (09:45):
It is, and it's odorless. So you apply it and
it's very very benign, very nice to work with. Your
home isn't going to smell. You put this on and
suddenly any ser that has ever been you know a
little bit, you know, nerve wracking. You you've treated, and
(10:06):
you've treated it very quickly and easily just with a roller.
You can even you know, move it around with a
brush if you like. Just make sure that you apply
a nice even coat and you should be, you know,
very thrilled with the results.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
What is the lifespan of the track safe outdoors? You
know with the sun, the snow, the salt, everything mother
nature can throw at it. What what is that something
you do every year, every three years, every five years.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Yeah, you can, you can do it basically every couple
of years. It really depends on how much traffic you have.
I mean, it could be there for five years. But
you know, ultimately, if you have a lot of traffic,
if you just want to keep it one hundred percent
ship shape, just you know, every couple of years or
every year. You know, let's say even for instance, you
(10:58):
have a commercial prop a hotel or something, and you've
got a pool deck outside, Well, then maybe you'll do
that every year. But you know, at the end of
the day, you know, it's a slip and fall that
that can make all the difference in the trajectory of
your life. And if you can avoid it, you know,
more power to you.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Well, I'm all about that, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Now is that applied with like a tank sprayer and
a roller or do you roll it on?
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Talk to me about the application.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Yeah, you just you just roll it on, very very simple, uh,
you know, just pour it into a tray and roll
on a nice even coat. A few hours later, throw
on your second coat, leave it alone till the next day.
Don't walk on it too much after it's dry until
it's cured fully, but you can walk on it when
(11:51):
it's dry. And the next day it's you know, good
and solid, and you've got some additional insurance there for
you and your family and your ends, and your your
customers and anyone else.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Sure, a lot of times when we talk about seilers,
people start thinking about the viscosity of the seiler. You know,
so much of the concrete ceilers are ultra penetrating their
viscosity of water. This sounds like it's a little thicker
than that.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
It is. It's a little bit thicker, but at the
same time it does penetrate. So it gives you a
very nice protective finish that will freshen up, enriched and
enrich the color of the surface, just make it look
you know, prettier and fresher, and it's good that way.
It protects the surface. So it's not just it's not
(12:41):
just a slip resistant treatment. It's also a protective beautifying treatment.
So you've got you know, a bunch of very very
good advantages in one shot. And you roll that on
and you know it does it all basically that you
know you really need it to do.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Sure well, I noticed also the track Safe anti slip
also has a color coat. So let's take a break.

can pretty much address any issue you may have around
your home.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
So check that out.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
And Peter tell me about this track Safe anti slip
color coade. So this is a little different than a
clear seiler. This sounds like something that you can kind of,
you know, kind of spruce up the porch or the
utility room and also be slip resistant.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Exactly. So you know some surface, some surfaces don't look
that great and you don't want to preserve the way
they are. So the whole idea here is if you've
got a porch or steps, or or a utility floor
or you know, surfaces of that nature, pool deck patio,
(16:36):
basically you wash the surface prior let it dry and
then you apply the track safe color code and it
comes in five different colors, and basically you just you know,
you roll on a couple of coats of that maybe
an hour apart, and then you would top coat it
(16:57):
with the track Safe anti slip seiler. So it's a
complete system them and that way you you you get
the slip resistance that you want, but you also have
a brand new looking surface with a nice color with
a very attractive looking uh finish to it. It's got
a very soft, very nice looking texture, very very decorative. Uh.
(17:19):
And again you have that that that slip resistant safety
that you're looking for as well. And it's it's basically
a complete.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
System water based also and odorless.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Water based, odorless.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Just give it a stir, put it in your tray,
roll it on, leave it alone, roll another coat on.
It drives very quickly, very very simple to use, uh,
spectacular uh effect, very quickly and uh you know, suddenly
you've got a spruced up area and you've got you know,
(17:54):
additional confidence in walking in wet conditions and just in general.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Sure, Now, where do people get these particular products that
we've talked about, the track Safe and really all your products, I.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Mean they get it online with you? Do they go
to Amazon? Is their stores or where can people find these.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Yes, they can get it online with us. Also, they
can get it through online, through the Home Depot and
through Lows and very very popular products there and you
know for good reason. They work very well and yeah,
(18:36):
very easy to get. You get it in you just
a couple of days and you're ready to go and
you can transform any surface that you need to fix up.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Sure, sure, I guess on the anti slip color kit.
That's got everything you need. I presume with words kit
and what kind of square footage does that cover?
Speaker 3 (18:59):
That is going to cover? Two hundred square feet and
it includes the rollers, so all you got to do
is stick that roller on a little roller handle and
apply your coats. It's all water based and easy. It's
all water clean up, odorless, quick and easy. Everything you
need is there. Just pick the color that you like
(19:19):
if you want the color, or you can just get
tracks safe Ayte slip Sealer as a standalone item. Either way,
you're covered completely and we're here to serve you, help you,

you and we're here to help it be successful for you.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Peter, Well and got.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
About a minute and a half to go, and I
want to ask about another product a little bit off
the subject. Does the rock patch that you have I
think is a phenomenal product for people with spawling concrete
and fixing divots. About fifty sixty bucks a can. It's
non cementatious. How's that going? Are people discovering it yet
(20:06):
or because that's a hidden hero also.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
They are. And it's it's you know, it's it's not
the glamorous product, but you know what, sometimes we just
need to make things good and nice, you know, even
and I mean it's a great easy easy is the word.
I mean, you open the can, you pour it into
a tray and you put it on. You can roll it,
you can put it on with a squeegee, you can
(20:32):
put it on with a trowel. Basically, there's a lot
of ways, but basically it'll cover little holes, little divots,
especially if you're going to do one of our stone coatings,
one of the decorative coatings. You don't want any sort
of texture in the surface transmitting through. So you put
this on. You don't have to stir anything. You don't
have a pile of dust. You're not, you know, surrounded
(20:54):
by by cement dust. You just open it up, you
put it on, it dries, you put whatever thing if
you want on top. Later everything looks beautiful and uniform.
Or you could even just put that on by itself.
It gives you nice, very concrete, clean gray appearance. And
(21:16):
then steal it with trackstay fancy slipstealer and you have
a standalone finish yep.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Well as usual, you got all our questions answered, and
I certainly appreciate your time Peter, and thank you so
much for joining us again. It's Dice Codings, Daichcoatings dot com.
