Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, talking a little home improvement, and if you want
to improve your home also, you can improve your landscaping
a be a big part of home improvement. And that's
why each and every weekend we talk to this fella
right here, mister Ron Wilson.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
How are you, Ernie Mitchter Chanavan?
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Life good?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yes, sir, it is. Matter of fact, I got a
question for you. Yeah, back in the day, they used
to have those window kits. Yeah, you put on there
to keep cut down the drafts and all that stuff. Sure,
you know when you weren't ready to replace the windows.
Do they still do that?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Oh? Yeah, really yeah, See you keep moving up in
life and you don't need to do that anymore.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
But yeah, no, they're still a big seller. And you know,
if the budget didn't there. In fact, I asked a
fella at Champion Windows the other day when I was
talking to him, I said, I've talked about replacement windows
for effort. It seems like are we finished doing that yet?
He goes, No, there's still plenty of old windows. And
(01:02):
if the budget isn't there and somebody's getting started, sure,
the plastic window cuts kits work just great. And there's
even a calking I think I've talked about that in
the past, where you can literally clock your windows closed
and next spring just simply peel the calking off, which
is also a good way to stop drafts.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Wow, now I did not catch and I was listening
to you, but unfortunately, what did you say to use
to lubric You get a couple of windows that don't
go up and down very easily. I mean they do,
but it's tighter. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Well, yeah, a silicon are a tough one. Okay, Yeah,
you can use the blaster they make both really a
silicon and a tough one. Just slightly spray it, move
the window up. That'll help you. The main part is
is you know, you get grit in there and you
got those nylon guides and wears those guides out. Uh
so yeah, try that, see if it helps you.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
So WD forty is not the one to use.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
No, real veryfined oil is just not gonna last that long. Yeah,
and a lot of the oils really on the wall too.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Do I makes a mess on the.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Wall, Well, you're not supposed to put it on a wall. Run.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Well, you know you miss sometimes that little sprayer you
know you can, well.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
You miss I got a question for you too. All right,
do you decorate for Halloween? Uh?
Speaker 2 (02:14):
We do. As a matter of fact. You know what,
Missus Wilson's got me dragging everything we own Halloween out
this year. We're going to put it all out and
take a picture of it, and then donate what we
she doesn't want to put out next year.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
So this is the grand finale.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
This could be like a grand finale of you know,
all the stuff. I mean, we've never put it all
out at one time. Well, what day and time is
the party? I want to see it? Well if I
hopefully I won't burn the party with the you know,
extension cores and all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Here's a guess for you, ready, Okay, how many dollars
are spent for Halloween decorations?
Speaker 2 (02:56):
About two million less than Christmas?
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Is it? Yeah? It was.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
It's starting to it's starting to approach Christmas level?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Is it really? I know that?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah? Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
I was reading it this week and I kept thinking
I heard this before, and I thought it was in
the billion. Yeah, yep, four point two billion dollars.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yep, you're there. That's why they say that it's really
is encroaching upon the Christmas total.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
So, well, we buy a seven dollars pumpkin, the sulomens
go all out. I would say the average for a
households what fifty sixty bucks. I don't know. I'm just guessing.
Oh yeah, you got a lot of decorations.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I don't. I don't know, to be honest with you,
haven't dug them all. I haven't dug them all out yet.
Turned boxes and tubs.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
And oh man, you're gonna get.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Point inflatable things and the Oh no, yeah, we got scale.
We have those little skeleton things and you know, we
have a DOCS and then we have a DOCS and
skeleton for the Halloween. I mean, she sees that and
it scares her to death.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Well no, kid, yeah, so said, why would you put
that out skeleton scare me? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
I mean, you know, but of the dog of a
doxin you know what.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Yeah, that's what I mean. From the eyes of a dog.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah, from the eyes of the dog. You know, that's
what you're gonna look like in a few years. So wow, yeah,
she's brutal.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
You got lights to like an orange light?
Speaker 2 (04:19):
No, we don't. We don't have the lights. We have
things that light up like we have these witches legs
that look like she flew into the shrubs. I remember
those a few years ago.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
I gotta come by. Yeah, yeah, I don't want to
see them all. I might even bring you a flood
light or two. I want them lit up.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
I'll take a picture. I'll send it to you again.
I don't remember what all's there and boxed up, but
we're going to get it all out. By the way,
doing the pumpkin thing is now it's a trend, uh,
not carving pumpkins, but using pumpkins in your landscape for decorations.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I'm glad I'm a trendy person.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Pumpkin scaping, pumpkins aping.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Yeah, that's that's good.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
So there you go, all these different new gords and pumpkins.
What with all the boy are they gotten popular?
Speaker 1 (05:10):
What's to do with all stackables?
Speaker 2 (05:12):
You know, all the different sizes.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Just for decorations, that's it, just for you know, that's
all gorge are for.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Anyway, Well, you dry them out and use them for
a bird house. By the way, I did the giant
Pumpkin way off up in Columbus.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Last week with two Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Well this the winner up there was twenty three, twenty
four hundred pounds. But I heard that they had a bird,
a gorg green gord, a bottle gord that was a
two hundred pounder. Who it was gorgeous, big, great, big
green thing. I mean it was gorge fed on top
of a pallette.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Did you act?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
And my question was how do you dry that thing
out and make it into a bird house?
Speaker 1 (05:53):
You don't?
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Well, actually said, there's a lady that does.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Really, there's always somebody.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
She knows how to dry these shoes, huge gorge bottle
guards and then paints him and does all that stuff.
And you know, because once it's dry, it doesn't weigh
quite this much.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
So do you open the gorge up to dry it?
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah? You actually poke a few holes and pinholes in.
I just let it.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Dry out, kitty, I know.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
But you know, the you got to keep cleaning them
because they get they start to mold and all that
kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
And well little wedd forget process.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Yeah, there's a process from that that don't help. Yeah,
So if you want to dry your gorge that you
have in Christmas or Halloween, you can do that. I
like that and use it for future decorations.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
I like that. You said the gord was gorgeous.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
It was gorgeous. It was beautiful. I mean, I'll send
you a picture of it. You'll love it along with
your house. Uh, we'll see what happens.
Speaker 1 (06:44):

Speaker 2 (06:45):
