(00:08):
It's seven oh six five KRC deTalk station. I'm very very happy Friday
Eve to you. Uh, maybeeven better because it's the return of higher
Republican Party Chairman Alex Treanotapilo talk aboutpolitics. Alex, welcome back to the
fifty five KRC Morning Show. It'salways a distinct pleasure to have you on
my show. Brian, good morning. It's a high honor and privilege to

(00:29):
be on your show. It's goodto be with you. I'm glad you
feel that way. What's your reactionto Joe Biden's sort of kind of announcement
last night. I didn't really putany flesh on the bones of why he
stepped down. He said he wasdoing a great job. He's in a
position to continue doing that great jobthrough the balance of his presidency, but
it's time to pass the torch toa younger generation. You take any comfort

(00:50):
in that, and what do youdraw from it, Alex? Well,
I mean my drawing from it isthat clearly Joe Biden was pushed out by
the Democratic machine, by the WallStreet financiers who stopped funding democratic efforts.
You know, about ten twelve daysago, Brian, there was I thought
a very very good piece of journalismout of the Wall Street Journal that essentially

(01:10):
talked about how Wall Street had shutthe spigot of money to the Democratic Party
and the Democratic Canates. And look, I've been in politics a long time,
and if you don't have money torun campaigns and run those television ads
and run the camp you know, the operations of a political party and things,
you know, it makes it nearlyimpossible to win. So, look,
Joe Biden has long been under thecontrol of others. That's obvious.

(01:33):
I mean, look, I meanI wish the man well in his personal
health and well being. It's timeto turn the page from Joe Biden.
His presidency has been another disaster formiddle class people. Middle Class people pay
more at the pump, they paymore at the grocery store. You know,
it used to be the Democrats spotfor the middle class. Now they
kind of fight for the elites, the cultural elites, you know, the

(01:53):
professors at the universities and you know, the elites in Hollywood. They're not
looking out for regular middle class people. Joe Biden a banned than those people
a long time ago. And soyou know, my take on it is
I expected more frankly, I expectedperhaps a unifying moment for the country.
Instead, he continued with the themeof preserving democracy. You know, that's
all they have, Brian. Imean, that's all the Democrats have.

(02:15):
They can't talk about immigration, theycan't talk about inflation, they can't talk
about energy production, they can't talkabout crime. We talk about issues,
they call our guy a threat todemocracy. And then you wonder, you
know why things happen like what happenedin Pennsylvania. Yeah, and I've just
asked you straightforward, what does thatmean? Do you have any idea what
they mean when they say Donald Trumpis a threat to democracy? You know,

(02:37):
and they're look and it's funny.I get asked a lot. And
I mean this not to be flippedto you at all, Brian, but
like, I can't answer sometimes whyDemocrats think that when they think, you
know what I mean, Like,it's just you're a political strategist, and
you're an excellent one, and you'repart of your job is to analyze the
whys and the warforce so you canrespond adequately to a charge of he's a

(02:59):
threat to democracy if you don't evenunderstand what they mean by that, and
honestly, I don't. They don'tever point to any specific illustration of how
it is Donald Trump represents a threatto the Republic. I just they just
say it as if we get it. I I'm just a loss. I
mean, you know, I liketo think of myself as a somewhat intelligent
person capable of breaking down things andcoming to some grasp about why they're making

(03:22):
the argument, so I can respondto it. But I don't know what
it means, and I share thatunderstanding. I look, I think you
and I are the same. We'reevidence based people. I say that all
the time to my staff. Let'sbe evidence based. Let's look at what
the facts tell us and then makeconclusions based on that. I have no
idea why they say that. Ithink I think for them, though,
I think scaring their base into believingthat Donald Trump is going to somehow,

(03:46):
you know, destroy the Republic thathas stood tall through civil wars, you
know, massive civil rights movements, changes in our constitution. I mean,
it's just it's the most preposterous argumentthat they have. But again, Brian,
the point I would want to illustrateis that the reason they say it
again, trying to understand it isone thing, and I'm like you,
I'm struggling to understand why they sayit, but it's a dodge from the

(04:10):
issues that face the country. Again. I filled up my car driving back
from the convention in Milwaukee. Itwas sixty seven dollars in Illinois sixty minutes.
Look, I just drive a regularold Ford Explorer and I put the
cheap gas in there, right,So it was sixty seven dollars to fill
my gas bank. If you're aregular middle class family and you're out there
working, two parents, working, trying to pay for daycare and buy groceries,

(04:31):
you go to the grocery store.I mean, heck, my wife
and I you know, we belongat Costco. We're dropping three hundred dollars
a month just at Costco, Imean, which is a two of us.
It's everything just costs more. JoeBiden's America has crushed the middle class.
It absolutely has, and they can'ttalk about that. So instead they
point to a boogeyman in Donald Trump, and that's I think that's their only
argument, and it's one of thereasons again you continue to see him lagging

(04:55):
the polls. Okay, ah,you anticipated where I was going the money
dried up, the big wigs thatfund campaigns weren't donating anymore. The American
public, in poll after poll afterpoll, said they would not vote for
Joe Biden in larger numbers, gravitatingover to Donald Trump and giving him the
advantage even in the swing states andeven making inroads in some states that shouldn't

(05:15):
even be up for grabs. Sodid the money dry up because Joe Biden
is an infirm cognitively impaired individual,or did it dry up because his policies
are taking our country down the toilet? And if that ladder is the case,
and I truly believe the latter isthe case, then we're not getting
an alternative in Kamala Harris. We'regetting someone who actually is even more left

(05:38):
leaning than Joe Biden, no questionabout it. You know, look,
I mean, if you like JoeBiden's policies, then you know he then
vote for Kamala Harris. But youknow who can like Joe Biden's policies.
That this myth that Heap is perpetuatingin his own mind among Democrats, the
someoneow saved the country and all thisjob creation, I mean, the country

(05:59):
shut down because of Democrats, largelyduring COVID and then claiming the job creation.
All that stuff is nonsensical. Weall know this. But look,
Kamala Harris, it couldn't even getto the Iowa caucuses. Brian. What
that means to regular focus is shenever won a single vote on her way
to being the vice president. Shejoined Joe Biden's ticket. They barely doubt
a victory if they did it allin the last election. But her policies

(06:24):
again and as a party, andI've said this every elected official, I
talked to every person campaigning. Ifwe stay focused on the policies, we
win. The American people are goingto vote based on what's happening in their
own households, not on some ofthe superfluous things. I don't care about
Kamala Harris's race, I don't careabout her history and who she dated.

(06:44):
All those things are nonsensical. Frankly, Brian, and that's going to get
me in trouble with some of myparty favorites. But I'm going to tell
you that's nonsensical. We should betalking about Joe Biden's inflation is absolutely poorous
southern border that's destroying our big citiesand everywhere else. We should be talking
about crime and a lass a fairattitude toward crime on bail that's making it

(07:04):
unsafe to park your car in everymajor city in America. I mean,
we've just got real issues and weshould be talking about those. And when
we stay on those kitchen table issues, I mean, look, the people
in America, when asked, isthe country in the right track of the
wrong track? It's a seventy percentof the country that says it's on the
wrong track. If we talk tothose voters about a new path for the

(07:25):
country, we win. Couldn't agreewith you more on that. Absolutely across
the board, one hundred percent issuesissues, issues. So I think what
we can conclude from this this exuberancefrom the left were having gotten rid of
the old man, which they keepfocusing on. Right, everyone's he oh
my god, he's cognally impaired.Oh my god, the cat's out of
the back. Look, George Colooney, finally a minute, Look Nancy Pelosi

(07:46):
five a minute. They are lookingat not the true reason Joe Biden dropped
out. What they're looking at asa distraction. Fah my god, we
got somebody new and different we're goingto refresh, We're going to restart.
They're not doing that in terms ofpolicy though. What they're doing is they're
excited because Joe Biden isn't around. They maybe they improperly believe that the only
reason he was lagging in the pollsis because of his cognitive impairment. They

(08:09):
got rid of that part, butthey didn't get rid of the policies.
So will this actually work for them? Asking you to read your tea leaves,
Alex No, I think this.I think Kamala Harris right now is
getting a small bump. You've seenit in some of the polling. The
fawning media coverage has been over thetop. Oh it's awful. That's not
unexpresed. That's not unexpected, right, the fawning coverage. But look,

(08:31):
I mean, when this thing settlesout, she will enjoy whatever little bump
she's getting. Is the new candidate. The American people are going to ultimately
ask the timeless what is now atimeless question in American politics? And you
know it, Brian, as wellas anybody. Are you better off now
than you work four years ago?And when asked that question, there's a
single American who can honestly say thattheir situation, the situation of this country

(08:54):
is better off now than it wasfour years ago. Again on questions of
inflation, crime, immigration, what'shappening with wars all across the world that
threaten ultimately threatened American national security.Aron's on the rise again. You see
what's happening in Israel. I mean, we have serious world global problems.
And if you think that the lastfour years and American weakness is the answer,

(09:16):
well, then you know you're inthe thirty percent that think the country's
on the right track. But formost Americans, they're going to ask themselves
that question. And if I'm readingthe tea leaves, I like where we
are. But Brian, I alsogot to be clear with you, as
the party leader in this state,We're not taking it for granted. We've
got programs up and down the ballotto help drive Republican turnout, et cetera.
I'm not overconfident, but I likevery much where we are. When

(09:37):
we tell our story about how wecan do it better. Amen to that.
Well, let's pause, will bringAlex back. Talk more politics Ohio
politics as well. Five to sixteenphifty about KRCD talk station cover since you

fact that John Roman is team arewith you from the moment you get insured
through them, all the way throughyour relationship until you're no longer insured through
them. And I recommend that onceyou get in touch with John, you're
gonna be remaining insured with them. But they work for you continuously. So
if you have any problem with theclaim, you call John on the team.

(10:18):
You don't have to call the insurancecompany. I don't understand this,
EOB, why did I get denied? Whatever? Just say John take care
of this, and they take careof it. It's amazing how much effort
they put in on behalf of thefolks that they work for. And they
do work for you, not theinsurance companies. So they have accessed to
a couple one hundred plus different insurancecompanies with thousands of policies allowing them to
tailor specifically to you medical insurance thatmakes sense, saving you money and providing

(10:41):
a better coverage. It sounds impossibleto believe. That's why we say put

(12:07):

talk station. It's seven twenty here, fifty five KRSD talk station Brian Thomas
with the chair of the Ohio RepublicanParty, Alex Trantapilo. All right,
real quick here before we move overto Ohio issues and races, and you
know, hopefully we're we'll have BernieMoreno in. But do you have any

(12:31):
concept about that lawsuit filed that Trumpfiled with the FEC about the money going
to Kamala Harris from Joe Biden's campaign. Is there any merit to the argument,
Alex, it seems this campaign financelaw seems rather convoluted. If you
read it, yeah, I'll confessto not having read it. I know
about the lawsuit. You know wesupport it that there is an argument,

(12:54):
though, for sure, that themoney was intended to go to Joe Biden's
campaign and not for Kamala Harris's campaign. So look, do I place great
hope and that the answer is no. I think as Republicans we should get
ready to battle Kamala Harris in theliterally millions and millions of elitist Wall Street

(13:15):
dollars in Hollywood, elitist dollars thatwill flow to her campaign. So again,
I don't have a great answer foryou, Brian. I apologize.
I'm aware of it. I sawa basic memo that was sent to us
from somebody in Maryland that we justkind of briefed us about what it was
about. But I can't say morethan to say that I understand those efforts
are underway. I support efforts tomaking sure that Kamala Harris and the Biden

(13:35):
people are in compliance with federal law. But I don't want for one minute
to be distracted from what we needto focus on over the next seventy days
or so before early voting starts, and that is to defeat her in the
money machine, the absolute money machinethat flows from the elite people in this
country who care very little about themiddle class and what middle class Americans are

(13:56):
dealing with. So that's the bestI can tell you about that lawsuit.
All right, fair enough, didn'twe catch you off guard? But I
had a couple of listeners who werecurious about that. So it's always worthwhile
at least asking, and I'm withyou on it that we shouldn't hang our
hat on them. But not gettingdenied almost one hundred million dollars, they're
going to make it up elsewhere.Speaking of the money machine, money machine
off, of course benefiting shared Brown. Is Bernie gonna start running a campaign.

(14:20):
I don't want to be critical ofBernie because I like the guy.
I want him to win. I'lldo anything I can to help him win.
But kind of low on everybody's radarat this point, just because it's
at the summertime still, I mean, we are keeping his powder dry in
terms of money and resources. Alex, you know that's an interesting thing.
Actually, I'm glad you brought itup because you know, candidly, I'm
around Ohio so much that I seeBernie everywhere. I fundamentally see him everywhere.

(14:45):
I put it on my social mediain case everybody thinks I'm just making
that up. I see him everywhere. Here's I think what you're seeing.
I think. Look, Shared Browndid not have a primary, and he
has spent over fifty million dollars intelevision advertising. Because Shared Brown had an
advantage without a primary and spent fiftymillion dollars in the first five months of
the year doesn't mean Bernie's not campaigning. He certainly is. He's campaigning very

(15:09):
hard. There's a recently released publicpoll that shows Bernie at three point six
percent down. That is within themargin of error for a person Brian who
has never been on the ballot.Jared Brown is a career politician, having
run since nineteen seventy two. Thisman has been on the ballot. He's
a career politician, Jared Brown,So he has a name identification advantage.

(15:31):
He had the money advantage because hedidn't have a primary. But this race,
the American people of the Ohioans atthis point have not yet focused on
this race the way a lot ofus on the inside have Bernie Marino is
well positioned. Let me share acouple more things with you. If you
look at that publicly available poll.So I'm not giving away any insider information.
He is down by fewer percentage pointsthan jd Vance was who ultimately won

(15:52):
that race. We have a bigadvantage at the top of the ticket.
That same poll has Donald Trump attwelve percentage point victory here in Ohio.
To anybody who's worried about Bernie Marino, want to know that, Look,
that's going to be a close race. It's an entrenched career politician. Bernie
Marino is at first time canate. But the money is flowing. It will
be there. And when you seethe ads ramp up and you'll see them.
And trust me when I tell youthis, Brian, trust me.

(16:14):
You can have me back on anytimeyou like. You will be sick of
Bernie Marino and Sheriff Brown as bytrying to get to the election. So
we're gonna we're going to point outSharon Brown's career history being tied to Joe
Biden and to the Democrat administration. He has been the best friend to the
Biden the Biden Harris administration of anysenator in the country. He has a

(16:34):
voting record that looks like Elizabeth Warrens. The Ohioans are going to understand that,
and you're going to see Bernie Marinowin this race. That's where I
am on that. I love yourconfidence. Alex trountfila real quick for you
part company. Any of the raceyou want to just address briefly before we
part, Well, you know,Brian, I care so much about the
local race. Is still my mybody in my car and maybe putting miles

(16:55):
all over the aisle, but myheart's always in Hamblton County. You talk
about, let meliss the Powers isa critical race here in Hamilton County.
I hope my my old friends herein Cincinnati, Hamilton County recognize that if
you want to keep this county safeand avoid being San Francisco, Chicago,
these big cities that are literally collapsingfrom crime and all the other you know,

(17:17):

please please please Melissa Powers. MelissaPowers, Melissa Powers. Remember that
name that is key to protecting ourcommunity. I still live here, my
family's here. I love Cincinnati andHamilton County. You cannot forget Melissa Powers.
Okay, I surprised you didn't mentionOrlando Sanza, but I will too.

(17:38):
Orlando Sanza, well, you knowI love him. I could.
I'm gonna get somebody's gonna get madat me somewhere. But Orlando is a
great friend of mine and the party, and so Orlando sons a huge race
as well. And I look,I could run through lots of them,
but you've said hey briefly, soI didn't want to know somebody. It's
you're a very important guy. Sosomebody's gonna be listening to this regardless of

(18:00):
where the publican or Democrats gonna beon podcasts, They're gonna really hear it.
So I just want to get thenames out there. So Melissa Powers,
or Lando Sunsee, and of courseJim Neil since we're in Hamilton County.
Alex, thanks for playing along withmy listeners with me today. I
appreciate your thoughtful insight and what you'redoing for Wealthy the race and keep our
fingers crossed. And I hope youroptimism comes through and is shared by the

(18:21):
listening audience, because I think weneed to be optimistic, but we also
need to make sure we get outand vote. Amen to that, Brian,
thank you so much for having meon My Friend, Take care,
