Speaker 1 (00:00):
Listen back, shutting down there and.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Set through the downs.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Good afternoon, and welcome to the car show on fifty
five KRC. I'm Dane Donovan taking all of your car questions.
The number to call five one, three.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Fifty five undred.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Man, you couldn't ask for a better weekend. And again
it's Memorial Day weekend, and.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
You know, uh, you know, I want to.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Start the show off with you know, my grandfather, you know,
uh fought World War Two and uh, but it's this
weekend as about he was a marine, fought World War two,
was able to of course.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Make it back.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
But this weekend is about those who gave the ultimate sacrifice,
and I want to thank those families and those members
out there. That's what this weekend is about. We always
I mean, it's great to have a three day weekend,
but it's you know, we we need to delve back
and realize that this weekend is about those who've served
(01:25):
and gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
And to those out there and the families and everybody.
I really do.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Respect and appreciate our military and our families and first responders.
And it's not about first responders, but I want to
give thanks out to them as well. But again, this
weekend is about those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. And
that's what this weekend is all about. So just remember
when we're out grill outs and having time with families
(01:55):
or whatnot, that those this this weekend is about those
who served and gave again the ultimate sacrifice. So uh,
for those of you out there listening, we we always
appreciate our military and what they do. So again I'm
taking your phone calls and never to call five one, three,
seven fifty five hundred. Again I I kind of alluded
(02:17):
to the fact that, you know, my grandfather who started
the business, went to Xavier or once to Purcell Marion
where I went went to Zavier, played basketball, and then
when they bombed Pearl Harvey, he enlisted and went into
the Marines and fought World War two. And you know
he fought and you a GEMUSI pantstanius I mean he
(02:40):
uh he went through.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Uh he was a great man.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
And uh. But again for all of who's for all
of those families out there that served. Uh, you know,
it's not not just about you know, it's it's about
you and your sacrifices and what you do for this country.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
So I do appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
So again, we can't for a better weekend, beautiful weather.
I do want to give a shout out to Continental Tire.
Now I'm not endorsed or paid by them or anything
like that. Continental Tire gave me the opportunity so to
(03:17):
go out to their their facility, their racetrack. They have
about five thousand acres out in Uvalde, Texas. So I
was in Texas all week and let me tell you something,
it was extremely hot out there. It was ninety eight
degrees and I came back from my wist, I get
so cold. I'm like, oh my goodness. I just absolutely
(03:39):
just love this weather. I guess I you know sometimes
on these sun Saturdays. You know, I complained about the weather.
But I tell you what, that's a whole I've never
been to Texas. That's a whole nother different heat out there.
And but again I want to give a shout out
to Continental. They gave me the opportunity, invited me to
(04:00):
come out to their race facility where we go out
and we get to test out their tires, not only
test out their tires, but test out those tires for
the competitors. Right, And we did an off road course.
We did a street course, we did a wet track,
and then we did a track that's basically under like
(04:23):
severe conditions, under like a half inch of water.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Obviously we couldn't do snow or whatnot. But you know, I.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
I didn't have I didn't have high expectations. I'm like, well,
you know, we probably just get to drive a car
for a little bit. And and kind of went into
it with a closed mind and not an open mind.
And I tell you what, my mind was blown away.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
It was a.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Phenomenal I had a great time. It was a phenomenal track.
Really got to go out there. And they did, you know,
I thought initially they're like.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Oh, you know, they're going to put me in a
car with a with an instructor and he's going to
tell me how to drive. No. They they said, hey, listen,
as long as you stay on the track, you can
go as fast as you want. You can take your
turns as fast as you want, but stay on the track.
If you get off the track, then you're done, you know.
So they gave you some lee away to go as
fast as you wanted to within you know, obviously, the
(05:22):
tracks small enough that you can't go too fast, but
you got to really get out there and test these tires,
and uh, it's a you know, I've been doing this
for twenty five years, right, I'm forty years old. I've
never been able to do something like this and I'm
telling you what, Man, was it mind boggling. It was
awesome experience. Really again, got to get out there and
(05:45):
test these tires. And man, was I impressed with Continental.
Absolutely impressed with their tires. And again we didn't just
try one brand. I mean we and we did sports cars,
we did your Mini Coopers, we did your trucks, we
did your cameras, the course that we all drive every day, right,
(06:05):
and we got to try out several different competitors and
in different scenarios and situations, and man, I had a
blast and it was a great time.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
So uh, and I was I've always been.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Again I'm not endorsed by anybody, but I've always been
impressed with Continental, but they really kind of changed my
mindset and was very impressed with them. And again, they
you know, they fly you out there, they put you
up in a hotel, they take you out to.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Their track and wine and dinya kind of and fly
you back so.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
But I was like, man, I'm gonna come back and
talk about this because I was so impressed with the
brand and what they do and so it was. It
was a good experience. So but again I want to
thank them. So then I'm gonna call five one three
seven nine fifty five hundred. That number again, five one
(07:04):
three seven nine fifty five hundred.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
I do want to give out.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
We had.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
My boys are again in baseball, like we talk about
every weekend. Uh, they're at a baseball game right now.
My son's about to start in about fifteen minutes.
Speaker 5 (07:17):
Here.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
He's in a wooden bat tournament, which is pretty fun.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
But we had a surprise birthday party, uh for a
friend of mine last night and my cousin, Kyle Donovan,
who is my business partner, who's him and I have
worked side by side for twenty five years.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
He was on his way down to Pinehurst.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
For those golfers that are out there, Pinehurst is a
pretty exclusive, pretty nice golf course. But on the way
down there, they stopped at another course and I couldn't
read the flag as to where it was. But anyways,
it doesn't really matter. He's a golf nut, loves it.
I mean, that's all he talks about, right, And he
was invited to Texas. But if there was a golf,
(08:04):
if there was golf involved, he would have gone. But
there wasn't any golf involved. So he's like, no, I'm
not going to go, but I went. But anyways, he's
on his way down there, and he texted me last
night and said, hey, I just had a hole in
one and this guy again, he deserved it. I told him,
I was like, man, good for you, that's awesome.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
You deserve it.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
I mean, he plays as much golf. I mean he's played.
He plays more golf in a year than I do.
And you know, I don't know in five years. Loves it,
enjoys it. I do too, but you know, we're just
in you know, he has two younger kids that aren't
they're starting to get in sports where.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Mine are a little bit older, and we're in sports
every weekend.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
But anyways, I want to give a shout out to
Kyle Donovan who got his first hole in one yesterday. Congratulations,
And I told him he deserved it because that's you know,
he loves the sport, absolutely loves it.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
So congress. Ratulations Kyle again, great job. So I don't
have one.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
I try to play I've got clothes, but i've I
mean within inches, but never had one. So congratulations to
Kyle and uh on his first home in one So again,

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Taking your car questions.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
The number to call five one three seven fifty five hundred.
I am Dane Donovan from Donovan's Auto entire Center. Here
every Saturday from one to two to answer your car questions.
Just got a phone call from one of my employees.
He goes, hey, what are you doing? And uh he's
he runs my new shop, auto Form and uh he's
(10:32):
a pilot and uh so he'll go up random times.
And so he's calling me and I'm like, oh, he's
going up in the air. He's he's gonna take me
up in the airplane. He goes, hey, do you mind
if I go into work and and uh I own
some money and get my money and whatever. I'm like, yeah,
that's fine. I thought you were calling me because you're
gonna take me up in the air. And he goes, oh, no,
I might go up on Monday. But we just are
(10:56):
you know, our our schedules just don't job.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
So I said, turn on. He what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (11:00):
I said, I'm doing the radio show. HE'SAI, why'd you answer?
I said, well, I'm on a commercial break.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
But I said, you know, I was.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
I was hoping you were gonna call me to take
me up in the air, and but uh, you know what,
I took enough. Uh took four for four four plane
rides this this week, so two on the way to
Texas and two on the way back. So I got
my flying in this week. So it's something that I've
kind of always had a passion to do. I don't
(11:27):
have my license, but I'm trying to get him to
take me up in the air so I can see
if I would enjoy it. I think I will. But
I thought he was gonna call me and tell me
he's gonna take me up in the air. But we'll see,
maybe maybe one of these days. So uh then I'm
gonna call five, one, three, seven, fifty five hundred. Let's good,
phonelunes are wide open, but let's go to the phones.
(11:47):
We've got Bill. Hey, Bill, welcome to the car show.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
How can I help Hello?
Speaker 5 (11:52):
Thank you for having me in, great show?
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Thank you? How can I help you?
Speaker 5 (11:56):
I just got a couple questions. Yeah, I got a
two thousand and five toy, the Corolla, and and everything's
fine with it. But I had a friend of mine
saying that I can as far as fuel injecture, fuel
injection cream. I can take off the break easter line
and add like a Lucas or a tea foam through
(12:19):
that and it will you know, basically said it will
bypass or fuel tank and it uh more or less
clean the top of the motor and that nature. Is
that something that you would recommend or is that something
that you would do?
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah, it's it's definitely something I would recommend. And sea
foam is a great product. Now with that said, I
typically will do like a fuel out of in the tank.
Did he specify why he wanted you to to.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Do it that way?
Speaker 5 (12:54):
Yeah, he's a bit older. They you know, he he
done it you know, to his vehicles and they wouldn't
hurt mine. Uh, you know, I didn't know. I'm not
gonna so I don't want to get to a basis
(13:14):
you know doing this. I don't want to lean the
motor out or mess with stuff like that. And I
know that Lucas oil is real thick oil type, you know,
in the smaller container than the tep on watery and
the larger would would that uh that nate or lean
(13:36):
out the motor?
Speaker 7 (13:38):
Well?
Speaker 3 (13:38):
I meant anything, No, it wouldn't hurt anything.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
But hear me out on this, if if you so, uh,
Lucas has a product it's called they call it.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
I don't necessarily like the name, but it's called tune
up in a bottle.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Okay, we sell it at our stores. You added to
the tank. Now, hear me out on this. If you
add the sea foam to the vacuum line off the
brake booster and it goes into the intake, you're not
really cleaning the injectors. You might be cleaning the valves
in the cylinder walls, but that sea foam is not
(14:15):
really going to get to the injector where if you
add the product to the tank, it runs through the lines,
cleans the injector, cleans the valves and you know, so
it's more you get you cover everything, yes, correct, I
mean the seafoam might get to some of it, but man,
I would add it again, it's tune up in a bottle.
(14:36):
It's like less than five dollars. You add it, you know,
and it That's what I would do. And again it's
not really going to protect the pump or an like that.
It's not going to damage anything. But again you're getting
that that formula through the injector. Whi's going to clean
the injector, clean the valves, and I would do that
(14:58):
where the seafoam might just get the valves and not
really clean the injector. I like sea foam as a product.
But Lucas again has that tune up in a bottle.
Can we sell it at our oil chain shop? And uh,
you know I I've used it, so.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
Yeah, that's probably why the conversation came up between him
and I was how to clean stuff. And I'm not
too familiar on adding stuff in the gas plank. I
didn't know if it would work or or that nature.
But yeah, I've seen it on the shelf. I mean
it's it's I didn't know how well it is. I
don't really use it, but you recommend it and you
(15:36):
think it's yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Yeah, it's not gonna No, it's not gonna anything.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
It's not gonna it's not yeah, it's not gonna hurt anything,
it's not gonna lean anything out. You'll be perfectly fine.
It's it's it's some preventative maintenance. It's going to help,
you know, prolong the life of the vehicle.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
So yeah, well that's great. Now have the second question
twenty thirteen. About a month ago, one of the coil
packs went out and uh, and I took it to
a local shop and and they looked at it, and
they said, the spark plugs are a little bad. But
(16:12):
that one cool pack that went out, there was moisture.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Where the cool pack goes in, it's the spark plugs.
There was moisture in between there. And that was the
reason the coal packed uh that went out. I'm sure
there's a factory. I've never changed them, but they changed
it and stuff like that. Why would they be moisture
in that in that area where that's will pack meets
(16:38):
the spark plugs.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
How many miles are on it?
Speaker 5 (16:47):
One hundred and thirty three.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Into your knowledge three thousands?
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Okay, okay, I mean as far as moisture being in there,
there should not be any moisture in there at all.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
Now, do you have any knowledge of the car ever
being like?
Speaker 1 (17:06):
So sometimes like we'll do like an engine degrease like
so we'll if a car is like leaking oil, we'll
do it. We'll spray an engine degrees and we'll use
a hose and we'll hose the whole engine off.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Do you know if anybody's done that to your car
at all?
Speaker 5 (17:22):
Yeah? I yeah, they was the.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Or did you get it detailed or something?
Speaker 5 (17:31):
No, they was. I took it to a shop. There
was a leak somewhere in on the engine. Uh, and
it was so bad it kind of was stripping and
it went went everywhere underneath. The car was given on
the highway and they couldn't understandable. And so I know
that they said they had to and this is like
(17:52):
or six months ago. They you know, it's not recent.
They had to clean it off and do that. Since
we text, Yeah, that's.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
That's where it came from.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
I never thought of that.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Yeah, that's where it came from, because I mean when
we degrease engines, you know, we basically we get them hot,
we use an engine degreas or we spray all that
degrees or on and it breaks down that dirt, the
oil and everything, and then we literally take a garden
hose and we're hosing it down. And I I would
suspect that. I mean, if they hit those coils real
hard and oil, water will get underneath that boot, and
(18:28):
you know, in normal driving conditions or when it's raining.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
You know, it's fine, but if somebody degreased the engine that's.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Prop or you know they were you know, you know,
detailing or whatnot hosing it down, that's most likely how
that moisture got in there.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Huh that was months ago.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Well, I mean yeah, I mean it doesn't take much.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
I mean, there could have been like, you know, a
little quarter inch or quarter inchre of water and just
over time it's it's kind of heated all you know,
it's got hot enough and it kind of evaporated.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
But but I mean, I'll be honest with you.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
I mean, coils on civics fail quite a bit, so
I wouldn't It wouldn't surprise.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Me that at some point the other three coils will fail.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
But uh, I would suspect, yeah, I'd suspect that's how
that water got in there.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
So yeah, okay, So that that was my follow up question.
So this, you know, this is a newer coil the shop.
Did I think it's a grill ass brand. It's fine.
I'm not worried about the plans, but I kind of
want to go more on the higher end brand and
have them all replace He says. There, they're quite up there,
(19:41):
just for the OEM style. Is there a brand other
than o EM that you go for or just stick
with the EM.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Here's where i'd recommend. I'd stick with OEM. But you
don't have to buy them from the deal. So what
I So, let me ask you something. The spark plugs.
Have they been replaced before?
Speaker 5 (20:01):
Yeah? When I took it up, I have the coal
pack replace they did all the sparks plants.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Okay, okay, all right, great, great? Do you know what
kind of spark plugs they put in it?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Okay? Good? Good, good, okay.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
So as far as coils go, what I would recommend
I would I would tell you I'd highly recommend that
you replace all four coils because the other ones are
gonna fail here soon.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Now.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
What I would recommend is either Denzo, d E, N
s O Denzo or n GK. Those are the two
brands that I'd recommend. Denzo, d E, N s O.
Denzo that's the original equipment manufacturer.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
So typically if you.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Go to Honda and you buy a Honda party and
it says Honda all over the box, and you open
up that Honda part and you pull that that coil out,
you know it's gonna say on it. It's gonna say Denzo.
So instead of paying the premium price, go straight to
you can get them on you can get online, you
can get them at Amazon or whatnot.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Denzo or n g K.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Those are the two brands that I would recommend for
your civic because I have one myself, and those are
the two brands that I'm going to use on a Honda.
Now I'm not saying on all makes and models, just
on hondas you want n GK or Denzo, but I
would I would prefer Denzo.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
I know Handa's a little particular, but they run great,
and that's why they run great. Absolutely, Okay, I didn't
know that, so that was my question. Should they all
been replaced? It's my wife's car. That was kind of
an emergency thing, right now, I do everything.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Yeah, get that Dura last out of there, put four
Denzos in it or NGK's.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
And you'll be good to go.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
All right, I do appreciate it, you.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Too, take care of have a great weekends, all right.

The one place where Sean Hannity weekdays at three oh
six fifty five krc the talk station.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Taking your car questions and number to call five one,
three seven four nine fifty Yeah. Uh, you know, I
was over there talking to Danny and then he's like, yeah,
thirty seconds, hurry up. And then I came all the
way over here, and I made it on time, and
then he got sidetracked and then we were a little
bit late. So it wasn't my fault this time. I'm
normally always late, in fact, and he texted me this
(23:24):
morning and said, hey, listen, the powers out in the building. Uh,
You're gonna have to walk up six flights of stairs,
which doesn't bother me too much, but the fact that
I'm always late meant that I was gonna have to
get here a little earlier. But as you can imagine,
that didn't happen, and just it just so happened that
the elevators were working, so I was able to. I
(23:46):
was able to make it in my for for day time,
I made it on time. But yeah, uh yeah, one
of you know show starts at one of three, I
made it. I'm on air at one o five, one
of six, you know, made it by the skin of
my teeth. That's that's kind of how I roll. So anyways,
(24:06):
and you know, Tony Bender just absolutely loves how how
how early I am when I get here. So yeah,
he was supposed to. Well, you know, I didn't get
to spend any time with him last weekend. But anyways,
alrighty got taking your phone calls in order to call
five one, three seven nine fifty five hundred. You know,
(24:27):
he's probably enjoying a nice barbecue or burger on his
back patio and enjoying his.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
Yeah, I know, I know he is.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
That's why I'm like, that's why he's probably you know,
he's not out cutting the grass.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
You know, he's not. Uh, you know, he's just enjoying
his time, listening to the radio, maybe grilling some burgers and.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
And uh. But you know because when I go to
his house, I have to stop the rest areic that's
how far he lives away. I mean, you know you
talk about man, you talk about his daily drive, not
for me. So all right, let's go back to the
phones we have. Dave, Hey, Dave, welcome to the car show.
(25:08):
How can I help?
Speaker 7 (25:10):
Well?
Speaker 9 (25:11):
I wanted to ask about Anna Freeze because I'm getting
ready to put a new radiator in an O one
Toyota avalon and one fella told me stick with the
Toyota brand. I've got a gallon of NAPAs all makes
and models, and I'm debating or rather I should.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Use that or not. You said, it's Napa's what.
Speaker 7 (25:36):
Napa's a brand that all makes and models.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Let me ask you something. I mean, have you looked
at the colors? Is it a pink color? You're cooling? Uh?
Speaker 5 (25:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (25:50):
What's in there?
Speaker 6 (25:50):
Now?
Speaker 7 (25:51):
I believe red?
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Yeah it's I call it pink.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
But it's yeah's it's you know, I mean some would
some might call it red, Some might call a pink,
but I mean I call it kind of pink.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
I wouldn't. I would not do the yellow, the the
like what'd you call it? The you know, the old
purpose or whatnot? The global?
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Is it like yellow?
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Is it a global?
Speaker 7 (26:19):
I haven't openness, so I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Okay, Now I would personally, I would stick to the
color that's in there. Now, it doesn't necessarily matter what brand.
I mean, you don't necessarily need to go to Toyota
to get it, but you want to state.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
You want to make sure Xerox, which is made by Vaveling.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
They have a good product, press Stone they have a
good product. We use them, Peak they have a great product.
Those three. You can use any of those three. Just
make sure it says you know, make sure it says
Toyota on the bottle. But I would stick to that
same color you can use, Like if you were an emergency,
(27:11):
let's just say you're traveling and that's the only thing
that you have, you know, it would be fine. It's
not gonna hurt anything. And heck, if it's warm enough,
you could just use water. But if you're gonna do
a radiator and you know, most of that cool, it's
gonna come out. I mean, you're not gonna get all
of it out, but you'll get most of it out.
I would put back in what the car came with.
(27:33):
That's just me personally. Could you use the global or
the the you know, and everything be fine?
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Yes, But then that's just me.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
That's just kind of I'm kind of anal retentive and
I just want to always stick to what the car
came with.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
That's just me.
Speaker 7 (27:50):
But what about I'm replacing the radiator? Are all these
aftermarket radiators or not?
Speaker 5 (28:01):
Are they?
Speaker 3 (28:01):
I'm sorry you broke up a little bit.
Speaker 7 (28:02):
Are they all what equal? As far as you know,
there's so many after marketing brand names.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
One, No, they're not.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
No, they're not all equal.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Some of them are just absolutely junk and garbage. Do
you know what kind of brand you're looking at.
Speaker 7 (28:17):
It's called a Murray. O'Reilly, So yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Marie's all right. I mean I would say it's like
middle of the road. It wouldn't be my first choice. Uh,
if you could get I talked about this earlier on
the Hondas, if you can get a Denzo out here,
that would Yeah, but what that Murray's okay, Murray's okay.
I you know, they're not the best, but they're not garbage.
(28:43):
They're they're middle of the road. So you'll be okay with.
Speaker 9 (28:46):
That, okay, Because I looked at the Denzos and there's
like four or five different models Benzos.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Yeah, because their original equipment manufacturers. So there's different applications
because some of the some of these vehicles have towing packages,
they don't have tony packages. Some have a a you know,
coolant cool or I'm sorry, radiator lines that I'm sorry
chesel PiZZ transmission cooler lines that are running through the radiator.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
So yeah, you definitely want to have the right application.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
You know. The thing about the Murray, you know, do
you have The other thing is obviously you're gonna have
an upper and lower radiator host. Do you know if
you have transmission cooler lines going into that radiator.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
I I'm sorry, okay, I believe.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Yeah, make sure make sure that when you're purchasing that
vehicle or I'm sorry, purchasing that radiator, make sure it
has those transmission cooler lines in it, because obviously.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
You're gonna need that.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Murray again, Murray's okay, it's middle of the road, but
if you can, it may be a little bit more,
but get get the Denzo if you can.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
I would highly recommend it.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
And again I'm not I'm not endorsed or paid by
them or anything like that, but if it's my car,
I'm putting a Denzo in it.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
Yeah, well, I.
Speaker 7 (30:05):
Got just count on to Murray.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
Compared to the Denzo.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
Then if you say it's a mindal, it'd probably be pretty.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Probably be okay.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Well, well, just make sure that you find out what
to find out before you purchase it. Find out what
the warranty is on it. That's a lifetime, okay, well.
Speaker 5 (30:25):
Then okay, good, all right, yeah, lifetime.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Then that's worth it. Then I would do it then.
Speaker 7 (30:32):
Yeah, yeah, Well I appreciate your help.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
All right, You're very welcome. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (30:36):

my phone that my wife just purchased some food at
Chick fil A.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
At this point, probably should be an investor.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
I should own some stock in Chick fil A because
as much money as we give them, I mean, I
should probably just be an investor. It used to be
when we when when my wife and I got married,
it was Pottery Barn. She loved Pottery Barn and I
spent We spent a lot of money at Pottery Barn.
I should have been I should have been a stockholder then,
(32:22):
looking to being a stockholder in Chick fil A. So
she just gave me the emoji, the U, the arm
emoji that she's gonna punch me. So I guess I
better keep my mouth shut. So anyways, yeah, uh, my
boys love Chick fil A. So their their diet consists
of the Rosa's skyline Chick fil A.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
That's that's that's what they that's what they love.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
So but you know, when you're on a ball field
all weekend long, you know your your options are limited.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
Right, So all right, let's go back to the phones.
We have James. Hey, James, welcome to the car show.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
How can I well, good afternoon. Hey, my son's rebuilding
a Honda twenty twenty three and he has to replace
the ECM and it needs to be programmed to the bend. Now,
about a month ago, somebody called in that recommended a
place up near you, someplace there. We're in Kentucky, but
someplace there that can he could send it to and
(33:22):
have it reprogrammed, do you yeah, information, Yeah, other than
the dealer. You mean, other than the dealer.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Yeah, it was Aidos.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
I spelled that please a d as Aidos they're in Milford,
a D they're in Milford.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Yeah, but they're mobile. They can come to you. Okay, yep,
he can do that for you.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Okay, you don't have a number though.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
I don't off the top of my head, I apologize,
but yeah, Aidos, yep.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
They're Yeah, they can come out to you and get
that team care for you.
Speaker 4 (33:57):
Okay, Well, look, well we'll look I'll look at up.
Speaker 5 (34:00):
I appreciate your.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
Help, your show.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Absolutely, have a great weekend, having bus weekend by bye bye.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
All right, let's go back to the phones. We've got
Dave from Florida. Dave, Welcome to the car show. How
can I help?
Speaker 6 (34:13):
Yes, I've got a twoy thirteen Chevy Equinox and I
just want to know what's your opinions on that car.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
They're okay, I mean they're not my favorite. I mean
my wife drives a Chevy. She drives a GMC, which
is a Chevy.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
The only thing that I would tell you on the Equinox,
and I want you to be aware of this, okay,
the Equinoxes burn oil.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Now, oh when I say that, most people think like, oh,
it's it's puffing white smoke and blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
No they don't.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
You don't see that. But they burn oil. That's the
way they're there. I don't want to say that's the
way they're designed, but that's what they do.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
So what I would want to what I recommend, and
I talk about this on the show all the time.
Two things. One, I want the oil change every five
thousand miles. Know if ands or buds, if you want
to change it before that, that's fine. I don't care
what the dealer says. I don't care what the car says.
I don't care what Bob down the street says. Five
(35:15):
thousand miles, I want that oil changed, okay, you want
to get the longevity out of that vehicle, change it
every five thousand. With that said, again, the more miles
that you have on that vehicle kind of the more
it's going to burn. So what I recommend for you
to do is when you go to get your oil changed.
Now again, if you take it to the dealer like
oh you know, hey Dave, you don't, you're not do
(35:39):
doesn't matter, do it, okay. But what I recommend is
when you go to get your oil changed wherever it's at,
well it's a dealer, your mechanic, wherever, you tell them, hey, listen,
I want the oil checked before you change it.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
I want to know what the oil level is before
it's changed.
Speaker 7 (35:58):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Reason being is it might not be burning oil now,
which is great. So say you know, you're going for
your five thousand mile oil change. They check the dipstick
before they change it, and they go, hey, Dave, it's
not you know, it's it's full.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Great okay.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
But let's just say you know, you go there and
you're like, hey, yeah, Dave, it's a it's a half
quart oil low, right, Okay, so now we know it's
burned a little bit of oil, so you stay on
top of it. The reason what happens with these vehicles
is people don't know that they're burning. There's no signs
that everybody thinks that, oh, if it's low on oil,
i'll get this oil light that kicks on.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
No, you're not gonna get you're not gonna see an
oil light.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
I've got cars to come into me that have a
half a quarter of oil in them and there's no
oil light on. Okay, they don't exist anymore. So what
I want you to do is make sure that you're
just on top. Just stay on top of it. I'm
not saying that, I mean it will happen eventually, but uh,
you know, just every time you get the oil changed,
just say, hey, can you check the oil level before
(36:57):
you change it?
Speaker 3 (36:58):
And if it's full every time? Great. If you notice
that over time it starts kind of oh yeah, hey David,
it was a half court low. Okay, you know.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
And and and that's fine because what happens is over time,
once that that oil level drops, the timing chain will
will get hot, it'll stretch it'll jump time and then
you'll have to replace the change, which is you know,
sometimes up to it. It's thousands of dollars and it
does a lot of damage to the engine. So as
long as you're changing every five thousand and just making
(37:26):
sure you're maintaining the proper level, that's the only gripe
I have about the car. Everything else, as far as
breaks tires.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
You'll be fine. You'll be fine. That's the only gripe
that I have.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
So just just as long as you know that, and
for for any Chevy owner out there, uh, and most
of your newer vehicles, this is a very common problem.
So there's there's so much mass confusion as to when
we should change oil and what the book says, and
what the guy I bought it from says, and what
my neighbor says. I'm here to tell you five thousand
(38:02):
miles and I'm not saying that because oh, you're you know,
sometimes you know people are, oh, well, of course you're
going to say that.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Dan, you change oil for a living. But you know,
I change oil. I bought a new truck.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Last year, and the the the book, the Owner's Manuals
system every ten thousand, I changed mine every five I
live by that rule, and I think that if you
want to get two or three hundred thousand miles out
of your vehicle, you change it every five thousand miles
and make sure that you're maintain the level, the correct
and the proper level.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
You'll get that that you'll get that type of mileage
out of that vehicle.
Speaker 6 (38:36):
So okay, now the car does set quite a bit,
does that make a difference? Still still five thousand?
Speaker 1 (38:45):
I mean if it sits quite a bit, I mean,
if as long as you're driving, changing it once a year,
I would if you're not diving five thousand miles in
a year, just change it once a year.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
You'll be fine.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
But again, the more important thing is just making sure
that the levels that the right, just making sure it's
at the right level.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
Okay, what part of fourty in, Dave?
Speaker 6 (39:06):
I'm in on the West coast Okallo area.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Okay, all right, Okay, Yeah, I frequent Sarasota quite a bit,
so I love Sarasota. So well, hey, listen, I appreciate
you listening to the show, and I appreciate the phone call.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
You have a wonderful weekend. Thank you, all right, take care,
bye bye.
Speaker 6 (39:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
I love Sarasota, love Florida. Like I said, I was
in Texas. I mean, I've never been to Texas. Man,
you want to talk about some heat, and I couldn't.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
I drank. I I'm not too proud of it, but
I drank.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
I had a coffee and orange juice, three bottles of
water and two coke zeros and still couldn't stay hydrated.
Speaker 5 (39:50):
It was.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
It was wild.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
So hey, listen, I really do appreciate all the phone calls.
Thank you so much. Everybody enjoy their weekend. Have a
safe weekend, and it could be a great weekend to
get that car out. Check your oil level, maybe check
your tire pressures, top off the fluids. Good thing to
do if you've got an older muscle car or something
(40:13):
like that. I had a gentleman I was actually out
for a run this morning. He flagged me down and
he saw me. He goes, hey, man, would you work
on my old Camaro? I said absolutely, yeah, I'll work
on it. He goes it needs as stud and and
I said, sure, absolutely, I'll work on it. I'll work
on anything. I'm not afraid of it. So good weekend
to get the cars out. And uh, you know, kick
(40:34):
the tires, make sure that they're full of air, and
check your oil level which we talked about.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
And uh again, enjoy the weekend. Again, remember those.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
That again paid the ultimate sacrifice. And I thank you
to all the military families, current and in the past.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (40:55):
Again, it's everybody enjoyed the weather, have a great weekend.
I'll be back next Saturday to answer all of your questions.
I'm Dane Donovan Donovan's Auto entire Center. You're a listener
to the car Show on fifty five KRC, the talkstations
