Speaker 1 (00:03):
There with a four barrel car when a Duelo shauty.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Good afternoon, and welcome to the car show on.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Fifty five krc DE talk station. I'm Dane Donovan taking
all of your car questions. The number to call five
to one three seven four nine fifty five hundred. That
number again, five one three seven four nine fifty five hundred.
It is a seemingly just beautiful day here in Cincinnati,
(00:40):
and it's seventy four sunny, no humidity, and I tell
you what, we have had a man, it just seems
like we haven't had a break in it seems like months.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
But uh man, it's it's it feels great out there.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
So for those of you who are maybe listening on
the iHeartRadio app and maybe cutting the grass or getting
some yard work done, I know, uh that's what my
wife and I were doing earlier today. And our newer shop,
Donovan's Auto Form, which again is located at the corner
Montgomery Road and Dane and right across from Zava University,
(01:15):
I am doing some remodeling in the in the in
the office area. So for those of you who swing
by or auto foreign customers, I please apologize. I apologize
for the mess, but uh, it's gonna look so much better.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
It's gonna look a lot better.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
So just again doing some uh up, you know, some
uh you know, refreshing and paint and floors and and uh,
you know, everybody likes to clean shop. And my my
cousin Kyle and I you know, he was he was
on vacation last week and I did some spring cleaning
(01:54):
in the middle of summer or really in at the
end of summer. And you know that to me, is
always important to have a good clean shop, right, and
it's important that the customers when they come in everything's
clean and organized.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
And then you know, it's just important.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
And so we always try to strive for that at Donovan's,
just making sure we have a good clean shop. And
if we don't, please let me know, Dane. You know,
but it's important. You know, I was over, I was
picking up track, like walking around the outside of the
building the other day and picking up trash. And just
one of the two neighbors in fact at Ridge and
(02:36):
one neighbor is walking her dog. She goes, hey, thanks
for doing that. I'm like, you're welcome. I think it's
important to have a good clean neighborhood, and then a
number another one of the neighbors was working in his
garden and he's like, hey, thanks for cleaning that up.
I'm like, sure, man, I mean that's it's important, you know,
And it's a small thing sometimes, and you know, you
get out there, I spend fifteen minutes just picking up
some trash that you know it sometimes you feel like
(03:02):
you make your you know, it's a small difference, but
you're making a difference, right And again at Donovan's, that's
what we want to do with your car as well.
You know, it might be something minor. I had a
customer of mine that came in. She just bought a
brand new car. New words. It's used, but you know,
she just bought it. And a suspension light came on
(03:23):
and then she's like, dang, these tires. I'm sliding all
over the road. Can you take a look at my
tires too? And nobody likes to spend, you know, twenty thirty, forty,
even fifty thousand dollars on a vehicle nowadays, and I
have to turn around and put thousands of dollars into it.
And she kind of felt a little bit defeated, and
I tried to soften the bulls, say, hey, let me
see what I could do. She bought it from a Carvana,
(03:45):
which I you know, I'm not endorsed by them, I'm
not paid by them. I feel that they do provide
a good service, but unfortunately, in this particular situation, she sold.
She was sold as vehicle and it needed tires, and
they have a great For those of you who listen
to me regularly, you know, I am not a fan
(04:09):
of any type of aftermarket warranty.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
If you want to do if you buy a new
vehicle and you want to.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Buy an extended factory warranty, you gotta that's important. If
you want to buy an extended factory warranty, do it, Okay,
especially with these newer cars today, I had the blessing
of being able to buy a newer car, first one.
I'm forty years old, first new vehicle I've ever purchased
in my life, and I bought the extended factory warranty.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
That's important.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
If they say we have a aftermarket warranty available run
for the Hills, do not buy that warranty. They they
they tell you, oh it's gonna cover this, It's gonna
cover that it's gonna they don't. And most repair shops
and listen to me, it's not just the Donovan's. There's
a lot of repair shops. I had a gentleman that
(05:03):
just called me the other day. He goes, I've called
five different shops. Nobody will deal with these aftermark and
warranty companies. They're a nightmare. Okay, So.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Protect save your money.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
If it's a twenty five hundred dollars or thirty five
hundred dollars warranty and they're promise you everything under the sun,
please don't buy it. Take the money and invest it in,
you know, put it in the stock market, put it
in something that's you know, I don't at that point,
just put it in the bank.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Do not spend the money on those.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Okay, they are they're just they're dreadful and they don't
protect you, you know, and they're a nightmare. And again,
most repair shops today will not deal with them.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
So uh again, she's she bought this vehicle, it needs tires.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Called them up. She's got a warranty. I called them up.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Now most time, most of the time, they don't cover
tires because it's a wearing part.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Right. So brought it in and.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
You know, they wrote, you know, I spent you know,
thirty minutes dealing with them on the phone. They need
all the information. Yeah, yah d yeah. So they it
looked promising when I talked to them, it looked promising.
And then they called back later in the afternoon and said, hey, listen,
uh you want to sell her some tires for it's
a It was a calac Escalade big tires.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
They're about three hundred and fifty dollars apiece. Okay, middle
of the road.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
The tire that I was putting on there is the
same tire that's on my wife's car.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Okay, I'm not going to.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Put the cheapest tire on a vehicle. It's just not
safe for you and your family. I wouldn't put it
on my wife's car. I don't think I should. Anybody
should put it on anybody's anybody else's car. So so
they called back and said, hey, listen, we're going to
cover the tires. But we found tires at a warehouse
in Indiana and we can ship them in.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
They're one hundred and eighty nine bucks.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
And I said, I can't even I can't even buy
tires for our hundred and eighty nine bucks, and I'm like,
what kind of tire is it? And it's a brand
I'd never even heard of. I've been doing this for
twenty five years. I was like, I've never even heard
of that brand.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
So I said, well, let me.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
I said, I need to talk to my customer and
see what they would like to do, right. I don't
want to put anybody's life at risk. I mean, you know,
I understand that sometimes, you know, like Dane, that's what
it's what I have to do. I get it right.
But they just bought the car and it's their decision,
you know. I always say, my job is to advise,
or your job is to decide. You decide what you
(07:33):
want to do. If you want to put those tires on,
that's perfectly fine, but I need to I can't make
that decision for my customer or any of our customers.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
I need to let the customer know. So I called
the customer.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
She put me on a three way phone call with
her husband and I said, Dan.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
You know, what would you do?
Speaker 3 (07:49):
And I said, well, what I advise. You know, the
tire that I quoted is what I put on there.
I said, it's middle of the road. It's not the cheapest,
it's not the most expensive. It's mill road. And again,
to reiterate to what I have on my wife's vehicle,
I think this would be the best for you in
your car and your knees. And uh, they said, Dan,
we'll go ahead, let's let's go ahead and put that
(08:10):
tire on. And then we just unfortunately, we just won't
use the you know, the warranty that we purchased. And uh,
you know, could you know they spent that money and
they were gonna put the absolute cheapest tires on their vehicle.
And again, I don't think that's right. And that's why
I don't like these aftermarket warranty companies. I really think
(08:32):
if you've got one, you know, sometimes I have seen
in the past, I have seen that they do help
the customer out, but man, it's it's very very limited to.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
What they provide anymore. And uh, they don't play.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
They don't pay any diagnostics, they don't pay shop supply fees,
they don't pay tax, they only pay a certain amount
of labor, and uh, you know, you end up, Uh
we had one last week, you know, gentlemen's ticket was
eight thousand dollars and they were going to pay half.
So yes, did that say that, gentleman, four thousand dollars? Absolutely,
(09:12):
and again. Every once in a while they do help
the customer, but most repair shops into day's standards do
not take them. Some do, but it will hold up
the process and they will put the cheapest product on
the vehicle that they can in order to pay the
you know, the least amount of money. So if you're
(09:33):
out there buying a used vehicle, I would highly recommend
that we don't. I would not purchase one. If you
have you know, it is what it is. Don't feel
like you know you reduped. I mean, it is what
it is. But if you're out there purchasing a used
vehicle and they offer it to you, do not purchase it.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Do not buy them.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
They don't they promise you the world and they don't
help you out. If you're buying again a new vehicle
and they have an option for an extended factory warranty,
it's important extended factory warranty, not if you hear. If
you hear extended factory warranty, that's good. If you hear
(10:15):
aftermarket warranty run for the hills. You can still buy
the car, but do not buy it. You will take
the money and you know, you know, buy your I
don't know your son or your granddaughter buy it, you know,
put a down payment on something else, or do anything
invest it. But do not buying because they promise you
(10:37):
the world and they they don't cover anything. So all
right again, taking your phone calls and I'm gonna call
it five one three seven fifty five hundred. That number again,
five one three seven nine fifty five hundred coming up.
We have DAN phone lines are wide open. You're listening
to the car show on fifty five KRC the talk stations.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
This is fifty five KRC, an iHeartRadio station.
Speaker 4 (10:56):

Speaker 5 (11:26):
The best way to wake up in the morning, A
hot cup of coffee and Brian Thomas Monday morning at
five on fifty five KRC, the talkstation.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Taking your car questions and number to call five one
three seven four nine fifty five hundred. And then we're
getting five one three seven four nine fifty five hundred.
I'm excuse me. I'm Dane Donovan from Donovan's Auto and
Tire Center. You can go to Donovantire dot com to
find your nearest location if you're in the Tri State area. Again,
(11:58):
been in business for my grandfather started the business in
nineteen fifty eight, and we we again take pride in
everything that we do, and uh so much so that
I'm here every Saturday to answer your car question. So again,
if you're maybe shy and don't want to call on
(12:19):
the radio show, that's fine. You can always call me
at at one of the stores. But yeah, so again
the number call here, five one, three five hundred. Let's
go to the phones.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
We have Dan. Hey, Dan, welcome to the car show.
How can I help.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Hi, Dan, I'm calling about twenty eleven yoick cross the
turns thing go on the mirror. It just stopped working,
and I just got one from a junk card and
put it in at it. It still doesn't work. I
was gonna say, I was their refuse for that? I
had to replace it? Do you have to replace the
entire mirror? And is there refuse for that or a ball?
Speaker 6 (13:02):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Well, I did that today with one out of a
junk yard. It was like brand new, and it's still not.
I mean, it shows that there's a car on that side.
It lights up that it's showing there's a car there.
But it does a flash.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Okay, So it has the it has the detection on
the It has the the detect It detects if somebody
is on your left on your left side of your
right side.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Yes, yeah. And then but the.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
But the the tear, the the turn signals in the
front and the rear those work perfectly fine, yes, okay.
And then does it flash regularly? Does it does it
flash fast.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
When you turn the left turn signal on?
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Or is it just operating normally like it always does?
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Like operating normally like it always does. That's the front,
the front ball and the rear ball, but the air.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
So typically yeah, typically if it has like that that
blind spot monitoring, most of the time, those mirrors then
have to be programmed. So you you need uh you know,
GM software in order to program them to that because
(14:25):
it needs to order. I know it didn't work before
and it was probably the light itself, but it could
potentially be where uh you know, it needs to be programmed.
So it shows that you know, so that that that
that computer and that mirror are talking to one another.
I there's not. There wouldn't be a fused. There wouldn't
(14:48):
be a fuse just for that turn signal in that
mirror assembly. I mean, do you have full function of
the mirror? I mean does it move up and down
side to side and you've got the blind spot minor
that's all working, just the turn signals not working in
that yes, Okay, let me ask you.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
So I did a hard reset on it last weekend
when I changed the DVT solenoids.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Okay, and I love it.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Let that connect it for like fifteen minutes, maybe a
half an hour, and I think after that is when
I decided not to work anymore.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Really Okay, Well, well maybe I again, Oh, I could
have lot.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
You know. The thing is with these modules is they
sometimes can lose their path and then you know they
kind of in an easier term, you know, they kind
of get stupid and they lose their path and they
you know, so sometimes, yes, you could try that. Now,
when you did a hard reset, did you disconnect both?
Did you disconnect one terminal or both?
Speaker 1 (15:49):
I connect disconnected both and tell them.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Okay, so train it out. Okay, all right, okay, and
let me ask you something you said, did you install
the mirror? I?
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Well, no, it was originally part of the car and
I never did anything. It just went out on his own.
And today I went and got it, went out of
a junkyard and try and put it in and it
still doesn't work. It shows and it's an indicator and
it's full function, but it doesn't show.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
It doesn't.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
But you put that mirror in today, I did.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
I put in the one from the junk yard today
and it does exact same. They hooked it up exactly.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Okay, So let me ask you some does that connector
plug in kind of up towards the mirror or do
you have did you have to remove the door panel
and it's kind of halfway down the door.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
It's all right there. You just pulled back a little
bit of a trim and there's the three holds that
hold up the brackets of the mirror. Insults that it comes.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Right, I help, like Peter Cake, Okay, all right, okay,
So what we could also what the other thing that
we could be dealing with. So what I would probably
do is try the try the reset, try it one
more time, because that's not going.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
To cost you anything. If not.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
The other thing that it could be something where it
needs to be reprogrammed, you know, because of the blind
spot monitoring and whatnot. And again sometimes they lose their
path and they just stop working and it just gets,
you know, again stupid. But the other thing that we
could be dealing with is the wire for the turn signal. Right,
so how many wires we're going to that connector probably
(17:32):
four or five?
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah, there's a harness there? Wow?
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:37):
So what was There's two separate wires that are connected
to the mayor itself, which are the blind spot indicator.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
I'm sure so sorry, I was, I'm getting old, so correct.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
So what we could be dealing with because again, every
time you open and close that door, right any of
your doors, you know, those wires are moving and again
they eventually get brittle. If you if you open up
your door all the way, you know, you'll see that
big rubber harness where all your wires were going into
the car and again opening and closing that vehicle.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
It could have broke that wire for that turn signal.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Which is which could be it, which could be a
nightmare because what you're having to do is you're pulling
the panel off and then you're having to pull back that.
You know, you would want to check what you know,
continuity right, You would check, you know, make sure there
isn't a break in that wire, which again a lot
of times.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Those wires just break again. It's just like anything else.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
If you take a rubber band and stretch it as
far as it can go, you know, a thousand times,
it's eventually gonna break, you know. And so you're opening
and closing that door, that wire for that turn signal
could just be broken and couldn't have nothing to do
with what you did to it last weekend, just mere coincidence.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
So I would I would try to do the reset again.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
If not, probably have a broken wire, which again it's
that you know that rubber according looking tube.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
That goes from the door to the body of the vehicle.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
And then you got to just you know, pull the
panel off and disconnect it and then see it start
checking those wires and see if you've got a broken
wire for that turn signal. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Can I take one of those indicator lights and with
the pointing needle on the end of it to pick
it down in there and get a light and you
know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Yeah, you could you talking about like a power probe.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Yeah, and in each one of those on the on
the artists outside.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Yeah, yeah, correct.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Yeah, I mean you could take what's called a power
probe and and you power up power and ground and
then all of a sudden, you you just check to
see if you're getting power at that connector, and if
you're not getting power at the connector, then you know
you've got a broken wire. Or I mean it could
be again, it could be you know, uh, I don't
want to get too deep into it, but I mean
it could be a body control module issue where the
(20:03):
body control modules bad and it's not sending the signal
to the assembly.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
But it's what what I'm gathering from you.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
It doesn't sound like it's going to be something simple.
It's going to be a bit more involved.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Well okay, well I'm gonna call back.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
And I'll give you get give me an update. I
love yeah, absolutely, I love to hear it.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
If you need any more help you you're more than
welcome to call me during the week.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
All right, Okay, Can I have one more quick question?
Is going to be quick?
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (20:35):
A lot of the two point four leader during Tech
Engine and all these people are drilling into that plantic
manifold and get into that PPC port and cleaning that
thing out without taking that manifold off. Is this something
you recommend or not drilling a whole into that familiar
with this technique.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
I'm not too No, I'm not too familiar with it.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
But the the I wouldn't recommend drilling into anything.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
I mean so, so I'm not I haven't heard of this.
So where are they drilling into.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
They're drilling into the plastic manifold cover that is over
the poor Now the on these and the two point
four engine leaders to have they don't have pcb bout.
They have a PC port and it's so small to
get blogged up, and then there's your vacuum, right, it's
blowing out instead of breathing in, and the main seals
(21:33):
get blown out because of this port gets blowed up.
So people are drilling in the side of these into
the very top of the plastic manifold and it's running
a wire down there and spray and it was cleaner
with one of those red little tubes and apparently it works.
But man, I don't know about drilling a hole in
that manifold, like putting the screw in it.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
I got to look this up. I'm not I haven't
heard this. So it's on the right. I'm gonna look
this up.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
I know I is.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
It is the typically the pc of E valve system
is going to be built into the the valve cover.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
You do you mean the valve cover or the intake.
I'm talking about the intake.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Yeah, intake manifold, huh, Because there's no PCV valve. It's
got just a little port inside of inside of there
that breathes into the other four chambers of the celinder head.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
And this is the Chevy. This is the two point
four Chevy engine.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Yeah, I'm gonna two point two point four leader uh
in line of course.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Yeah, I gotta look this up. I have not heard this.
I have I have not heard this.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
I'm gonna do some research on that when you call
me back, all I'm gonna, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
I'm gonna look this up. I've never seen that.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
It's some people take that plastic manifold off and they
get behind there and get to the port that way too.
But they're just now they're saying, Ah, you don't have
to take that manifold off. You can just throw a
hole right and straight up to the top of it.
I'm thinking man drawing holes in the top of it,
you know.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Yeah, Yeah, I'm gonna look this up. I want to.
I want to see this.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
So so after they draw the hole, they put a
plug they like screw licenselate screwing at the plug it up.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Well, I can assure you, I mean, it might work,
but I've never I've never seen it. But I can
assure you that at Donovan's we're not We're not drilling
holes in intakes and putting screws in. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Yeah, you're welcome.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
I appreciate the phone call, have a great enjoy your weekend.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Thank you. I've never heard of that that might work.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
I have not seen that, but I can assure you
Donovan's unfortunately that it could work. But I can't put
my name behind something and drill holes and intakes. That's
not a good look, not a professional look, that's for sure.
All right again, taking your phone calls number to call
five one three seven four nine fifty five hundred. That
(24:05):

Deserves it at Donovanscares dot com. Again, that's Donovanscares dot com.
Donovan's Auto Entire, a Cincinnati original since nineteen fifty eight,
and the honest choice fraud of repair.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
Some may not want to hear what you have to say,
but we do. Fifty five KRC, the talk station.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Taking your car questions and number to call five one
three seven four nine fifty five hundred that number gain
five on three seven nine fifty five.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
I apologize I'm not too energetic today.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
I've been man, I've just been haven't been sleeping well,
so I'm just it's so nice outside, should be outside
doing Uh again, I did do some yard work this morning,
not much. Uh, I you know, my wife's probably in
the car listening to me. She's like, you needn't do anything, but.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Uh, let's just put it this way.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
It was more than I normally do, but uh yeah,
so uh it's uh so nice out.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
But the wife and I are going to actually go
see we're in between sports.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
So again we have three boys and and uh.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
All three boys are in between sports.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
And uh my youngest or my middle son has baseball
tryouts tomorrow, but this afternoon we don't have any.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
Sports and no birthday parties.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
I can't the amount of birthday parties and you know,
play groups and the kid's got this and that, and
I said, let's just go see a movie, like you know,
we don't get this this much fout and we haven't
you know, we haven't been on a vacation. Uh, it
probably won't be until next early of twenty twenty six.
(26:15):
But you know, Mike, well, I know it's nice out
and it's been absolutely miserable the past two months, practically,
at least it seems like it. And uh, you just
don't get this opportunity week weekdays are just too busy,
and then you only have Saturday and Sunday and it's
back to the.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
The old grind.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
So again, phone lines are wide open, and then go
to call five one, three, seven fifty five hundred.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Let's go to the phones we have.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
Dave.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Hey, Dave, welcome to the car show. How can I
help Dan?
Speaker 6 (26:46):
I'm working on my AC line and I need to
know if you have any good illuminum tig welders.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
Oh Lord, have mercy, No, I do not. Is this
you called me about? This? Was this last week?
Speaker 7 (27:01):
That?
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Yeah, you can't, Yeah, you can't find that line?
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Right.
Speaker 6 (27:06):
I did find a part of the line, so that
all I need now is two parts well together. And
I'm in business.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Huh and then you're in business. Oh goodness, I mean
there's Unfortunately, Dave, I apologize. I don't know anybody off
the top of my head. That's it's that is something
that you know, there's somebody out somebody could do it.
And again for those listeners out there, if you know
(27:35):
somebody for Dave that could help, that could weld that together. Uh,
the problem is with that aluminum, it's just so thin.
I'm concerned about them burning, you know, burning through it.
But again, I'm not a I took welding in college.
It was quite the welder at that time. But that
was a long time ago, so I don't know anybody.
(27:58):
I'm I'm so sorry.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
They'll be able to do it. It's like eight millimeters
in diameter.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
I think somebody, Yeah, I think somebody could you know,
That's that's.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
That's the thing though, with these the older cars, I mean,
even if it's just the parts are so scarce, it's
just so hard to uh nail down these parts. And
I'm telling you what and with yours it says here
it's a ninety one.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
Miles of sixty six. I'm telling you what I mean.
I'm hot. I could probably find more parts for.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Your vehicle with it being a ninety one than I
could with a car that's a that's five years old.
It's it's unbelievable. It's unbelievable. I mean, I can't. Everything's
on back order. Everything, everything's on back order.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
You can't. They can't produce enough of them.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
And uh, and then they stopped making them after a
couple of years. So and that's why I you know,
I talk about it all the time on the show. Look,
if you have an older car and parts are available,
and your mechanic tells you it's it's sound and it's
not dangerous to be on the road, keep it.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Fix it as much as you can.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
You know right now that not everybody has you know,
deep pockets and can fix everything, right.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
But man, if you've got some of these older cars,
keep them. Is you know so?
Speaker 3 (29:14):
But unfortunately I'm I'm I don't know anybody off the
top of my head.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
Okay, all right, Dan, appreciate your time.
Speaker 8 (29:22):
Day.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
All right, Dave, You're very welcome. Have a great day.
You know. That's the thing.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
And I've talked about this for those of you who
listen regularly. You know they're building these cars. You know,
technology is great, don't get me wrong, right, Technology is
great when it works. For those of you who work
with computers every day, you know they're great, and in
the minute they break, you can't do anything right.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
And you know your.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Washers, your dryers, your furnace, your refrigerator. You know, you
used to be able to get twenty thirty years out
of a furnace. Now you get about about five. And
it's more expensive to fix. They can't get the parts
and is just to.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Replace it right.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
And unfortunately, I'm telling you that's how they're making cars.
And what's sad is you know you go out there,
I mean you can, I mean, with ease buy a
car for seventy five thousand dollars, just middle, middle of
the road car, seventy five thousand dollars, and probably in
about eight years, five to eight years almost that that
(30:25):
car is gonna be obsolete. You're not gonna be able
to get anything for it. And I'm seeing it now.
I'm seeing it right now, in twenty twenty five, I'm
seeing it. You know I can again, I've talked about it.
I had a buddy of mine, it's a seventy six Porsche.
I was able to buy parts for it and have
it fixed within twenty four hours. And I've got cars
(30:47):
that are coming in that are five years old, and
I can't get parts form. Nope, because the aftermarket companies,
you know, your your kois, your smythe your O'Reilly's, your
NAPA is there, nobody's made. No aftermarket companies making the parts.
You have to get it from the dealer. And these
parts fail so often that the manufacturers that are making
(31:09):
the parts for the dealers can't keep up with production
because you can't find anybody to work. They can't find
any employees to make the parts, so they go on
back order, and then it's just a vicious cycle. And
then you know your car's strained it. I mean had
I had a fifteen Civic. I mean, yeah, it's ten
years old. I get it, but it needed a fuel
line and it sat my lot for six months waiting
(31:32):
on a fuel line.
Speaker 8 (31:35):
You know.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
So if your mechanic tells you that your cars sound,
it's good, but it needs you know, two three thousand
dollars worth of work, and it's worth it fix it
because the newer stuff just every year just gets worse
and worse and worse.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
So just just keep that in mind.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
So again, the number to call five one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifty five hundred, that number gain five one, three, seven,
four nine fifty five hundred.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Phone lines wide up. I love to hear from you.
Give me a call.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
The number to call five one, three seven for nine
and fifty five hundred. You're listening to the car show
on fifty five care see the talk station.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Do you have a truck, camper, r V or trailer
that needs body repair? If so called Frank's Heavy Truck
Collision Repair located just All five seventy five or Route
sixty three.
Speaker 2 (32:15):

Speaker 4 (32:18):

customer satisfaction. Frank's Heavy Truck Collision Repair prides themselves in
doing the job right and get into your vehicle back
on the road. Call five one three eight two nine
ninety thirty eight two nine ninety thirty.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Taking your car questions The number to call five one
three seven nine fifty five hundred.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Agin.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
I don't know why I start this show. I have
to either yawn or I don't. I don't understand why.
So all right, Uh, let's go back to the phones.
We have Jim, Hey, Jim, what the car show.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
I'm good.
Speaker 8 (32:57):
How are you good?
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Good?
Speaker 8 (32:59):
Hey, just listening to the program. The guys looking for
aluminum tig welders. Yeah, and there's a spot called It's
just Na Mobile Welding Services known for their aluminum tig welding.
Their number, you know, I tell you, I tell you.
The easy way to find this information for everyone out
(33:20):
there is I downloaded a free app called Perplexity, and
it goes down. It's an AI app, and it goes
out and it sorts all this information and he can
get really uh the answers are looking for quite easily anyway.
It's called just A Mobile Welding Services. Their phone numbers
(33:40):
five one three two zero zero zero one one six
and let me see where they're located. It's three seventy
seven Bridge Street leveland Ohio. Okay, they may come to
your spot. Sounds like it. I'm not sure, but I
give them a try, Okay.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
And what was the name of the app.
Speaker 8 (34:04):
Perplexity p E R p l e x i q Y.
It's amazing. It just it sorts through all the information
you're looking for and it gives you different different things
that you know.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
That's the thing about it, that's the thing. The other day,
I was having an issue with a car, and I
was like, well, did you check AI. I'm like, you know,
I'm not really into that stuff.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
I need to be Uh.
Speaker 8 (34:32):
It's easy, Yeah, it's really easy. It's it's so much
better than Google because yeah, it's free. Just download the
output it on your phone and play with it a
little bit.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
All right, Well, thank you. I appreciate the help. Uh.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
You know, that's the thing. I'm not too uh, I
know cars, I'm not too techy. I mean, I you know,
I can operate my phone and the Internet and you know,
email and all that stuff, but as far as like
the AI stuff, and I just I don't know. I
need to get into it, but I need to sit
(35:08):
down and learn it. But heck, I don't have the
time to do that either. So all right, let's go
back to the phones. We have Cara, Hey, Kara walking
to the car show.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
How can I help Hi?
Speaker 7 (35:21):
I have a twenty fifteen accurate and the switch on
the inside is not making the back hatch go up,
but it goes up with the uh the key thing.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
All right, So yeah, okay, so the rear hatch will
work and operate by the key fob, but on the inside.
Speaker 7 (35:42):
It will not no complete opposite. Oh, it works with
the key fob, but it won't work from inside the car.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Okay, I got you. Okay, all right, does how long?
How long has that been going on? Is it recent?
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Well?
Speaker 7 (36:02):
I just got the car h this past November, and
I really didn't even notice, to tell you the truth,
And so I did bring it to my mechanic. He
pulled it off, he said, he cleaned out all where
the button was, and of course before I took it,
it worked, and then like two days later it didn't work.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Okay, So well, okay, so you said he cleaned it
and it it.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Helped, but then it stopped working again. Correct, Okay.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
I mean I think we're probably most likely just dealing
with that actual The actual button itself is probably I
don't think it's a few It's not a fuse issue,
because a fuse won't just if a fuse blows, it blows.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
It doesn't work ever again.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
So if it started working for a day or two,
most likely that button is you know, is just bad.
So I would probably have your mechanic replace that button.
I would, you know, we could be dealing with another
underlying issue like a wiring issue or a computer issue
or something like that. But the button is going to
(37:09):
be your easiest and cheapest fix and might not.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Necessarily fix it.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
But that's what I would do first, is replace that
button inside the vehicle.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Oh okay, great, I would I would do that first.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Yeah, I don't think. Yeah, Accurate is an Accurate has
a great product, they really do. And you know, there
could be another underlying issue. There could be something you know, bigger,
but uh, it sounds like to me because it's working
and not work. You know, it worked when you dropped
it off and then it worked for two days and
then quit working. So I would I would start with
(37:45):
a button, and I would recommend having that button replace.
That's gonna be your cheese, your cheapest and easiest fix,
and that's where we need would start. I don't I
wouldn't recommend like having them try to diagnose it. I
would say, hey, can you replace this button. Let's start
there and then if it acts up then then they're
gonna probably need to do some further diagnosing.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
But I would replace that button.
Speaker 7 (38:07):
I mean, it's I love it. It only has sixty
two thousand miles on it. So I plan on kicking forever.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Accura is a great product. I've always been a fan
of Hannah and Acura. There are great products. So you
keep it and just make sure that you know, you
take care of it and change the oil regularly. That's
that's the important all right, Well, thank you so much.
You have a great weekend. Uh huh bye bye. Man.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
I'll tell you what. I get more phone calls. She
was from Boston. I get more phone calls from Boston.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Obviously not as much as you know, the Tri state
Cincinnati area, but I would say probably, you know, because
with with iHeart you can listen anywhere in the country, right,
But man, I get more phone calls from Boston. And again,
if you ever have an opportunity to go up to
that city.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
I loved it.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
It was it was awesome. It was a great city,
so great. But again accurate. You know, sometimes you know,
and I I and sometimes some of my younger technicians
fall victim to this as well.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Sometimes on these vehicles they.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
Start, uh uh, you know, it goes back to the analogy, right,
you know, keep you know, keep it simple, stupid, right,
keep it simple.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Let's start with the basics, right, Sometimes.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
My guys will will get it over their head and
then it's like, well, you know, you know, I had
a guy I can't remember this was probably this was
years ago, but he's like, he's checking a car came
in with no air conditioning, right, He's checking everything the
compressed or the switch is, the the fuses, and he
goes round and round and around, and it's about after
(39:50):
an hour he's like, man, I can't I can't figure
out what's wrong with this vehicle. And again, this was
a great mechanic and I just, you know, wasn't you know,
just I guess got tunnel vision. Was just so focused
on trying to figure it out. And I said, well,
how much free on is in it? He's like, and
it was kind of like a deer in headlights. He's like, well,
(40:11):
I didn't check the free on level. I'm like, dude,
before you do anything, you gotta check the free on
level because if there isn't any free on in the system,
nothing's gonna work like it's.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Supposed to write.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
And so you always want to always keep it basic,
Like I explained to her, keep it basic. Sometimes you know,
you could be running around like a chicken with your
head cuff trying to figure out this problem, and it
could be just so simple and basically sometimes and again
I mean it happens to the best of us. I
mean it's happened to me, Right, There's something that's so simple,
(40:44):
and you just overlook it because you're like, it can't
be just it can't be that, and you're like, it's
not that, it's gotta be this, and you just kind
of get off the beaten path and all of a
sudden you're racking your brain trying to figure out what's
going on. And it could be simple as just that switch, right,
And it's important, and especially with air conditioning. Man Man
that week, I could do an entire hour long show
(41:06):
just talking ABOUTIC air conditioning on your vehicle because it's
so complex, there's so many components, and it's something that
in today's modern standards, everybody has to have it or
needs it or wants it right, and it could just
be so expensive like that gentlemanly called on the ninety
one six two six.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
You know, air conditioning's not working. He needs an AC
line that.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
He can't get and he needs to be able to
weld and repair that line because you can't get the part.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
You know, I get it. And again I could do
a whole show on air conditioning. Now we don't need it.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
Today it was actually nice to be able to roll
down the windows. I saw more people walking around outside
today than I have seen by the entire year.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
I mean it was, it was amazing. The weather's awesome.
Speaker 3 (41:50):
And for all of those, for all for everyone that
called today, I really do appreciate it. I'll be back
next Saturday to answer all of your car questions.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
Again.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
I'm Dame Donovan from donald An Auto entire Center. Go
to donovantire dot com find your nearest location. We'd be
more than happy to take care of you and help
you out. And again, everybody, enjoy the weather while it lasts,
you know, because if you don't like the weather in Cincinnati,
wait fifteen minutes and it's gonna change.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
So thank you so much, everybody, have a great weekend.
You're listening to the course Yarm fifty five krc D
talk station
