Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alex John with Quinn and.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Canpira, Alex Lifsin from Rush.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Everybody, Good morning, folks.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Hey, we are here to talk about Envy of Nun's
new album, Stygian Waves. But I have to ask you're
on I want to let you know you're on friendly territory.
How how are we being received where you're from? Alex? Uh?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
You mean your radio station?

Speaker 2 (00:20):
No, I mean as an American?

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Look, you know, this has gone so crazy. We are
friends and neighbors and allies. We've built blood for each other,
We've you know, we've done so much for each other forever,
and we are so uniquied together as a continent. This

(00:44):
is all about a crazy, lying maniac in the government.
And then there's also Donald Trump running the show and
creating all of this chaos. So look what's happening in
the Ukraine right now? Now, Like, I'm sorry, but that

(01:04):
guy is that guy is nuts?

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Day man? No, you're out and you can say whatever
the hell you want, my friend, I know.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
And so I'm like, like, I'm find myself rooting for
Team Canada during this hockey tournament.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
It's a lot going on because.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
No, because you recognize this is so totally insane. But
you know you to answer your question, we still love you, guys,
and we hope that you love us. We will get
over this.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Eventually, well, said Alex Lifsen, co founder of Rush Rockhall
Hall of Fame inductee and of course member of Envy
of None Stygian Waves. We're listening to it. Where did
you find Where did you find this? This woman on
lead vocals, Maya.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Maya Win So it's kind of a cool story. Maya
was in her I think she was nineteen, maybe twenty.
She was part of a talent show and Andy Current,
who plays Baby in the band h was the talent
judge and he spoke to Maya and the advice he

(02:10):
gave to Maya was, you know, when you're young, you
should work with some other people, you know, garner some
more experience. And she said, well, I googled you and
you've been playing in the band for a long time,
so why don't we work together? Wow. Andy kind of
laughed and said, well that's ballsy, but okay. He sent
her a song that we've been working on and it
was in very very rough state, like I did guitars

(02:32):
on it. He asked me to do guitars. I did,
did very very casual, untight guitars. He did her vocal
but came back. I called Andy and I said, erase
everything that I did. I'm going to redo all the guitars.
Maya is amazing. We have to work with her. And
then that's how the whole thing started.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
So, I mean, and there's kind of a theme here
with with the Stigian waves and the and the skull
merge and that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Is it is the are you tempting the devil here?

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Is that what we're what I'm sort of playing into
here causing waves on the river sticks?

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Right? Yeah, I don't know who this devil guy is
you're talking about, but yeah, but it's exactly that. They're
the turbulent waters as you approach the gates of Hell,
as you approach the chaos and terror of help according
to mythology. But we like to believe that there are
ways to navigate those waters and to go to clearer

(03:32):
waters and avoid the insane chaos with nept be nice.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
We encourage you guys to go to envy none dot
com where you can check out the single staging waves
that we're talking about. If your career, Alex Lifson was
in chapters it appears or acts, it appears you're having
as much fun this act as you did the last act.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Oh my god, Conterar. That's yeah, that's a very good observation.
I am having a riot. I'm enjoying this so much.
These two records that we've made have been great for me.
They've come at a perfect time in my life where
you know, we're looking at the desolation of retirement, and
I realized that I'm a musician at the core. I

(04:17):
always have been since I was twelve years old. And besides,
Paul McCartney told me to keep working, and I'm not
going to argue with a beatle, right, So yeah, I'm
just at such a great state. I got my health
in order. I'm playing every single day, and I'm absolutely

(04:39):
loving at working on numerous projects all at the same time.
It's just really, this is the best time of my life.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Actually, we know the Envy of new album comes out
March fourteenth, will be Whill there it be a tour with.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
This, We're still talking about it. We'd love to do it,
but it's not an easy thing to embark on a
tour of these days. It's the material would be awesome
I think it would be a fantastic evening of music
in a nice little theater with a nice light show.
Would we have great presentation? But you know, there's just

(05:13):
so much, uh so many logistics to clear before we
even get to that point. But we're still talking about
it and there's a chance.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
So yeah, the fourteenth of March is what we're looking at.
Did you want to release it on the fifteenth? I mean,
with the theme, it would have been perfect for the
IDEs of March. You know what, I'm thinking?

Speaker 1 (05:33):
That good point, right, best point? Well, maybe we will delay.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
It here you go that do you?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Quinn? Quinn told us to do it?

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Awesome as do people call you mister blah blah blah
all from your legendary speech.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Yeah, no, I definitely get I get that a lot.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
There was a memorable moment for sure.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Well we wish you baller, heart core, rockstar move. I
loved it.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
