Speaker 2 (00:09):
How are you all right? Well, I'm pumped to be here.
Thank you for having me.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Dusty. The inspiration for the brand new Netflix special Wet Heat?
Where did Where did wet Heat?

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Come from? Well, wet Heat. What I like about it
is the title makes you ask that question, You go,
what is he talking about? And that's what I like.
I feel like it seems like it may be like
kind of a nineties made for TV movie where there
might be a little sex in both.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I was thinking mishap misap maybe.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Or or it could be you know, like a cop
drama in Miami.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
You know, why do I go to boob sweat all
when I think of wet heat under boom Yeah, boob sweating.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Really, it's just a weather joke. You go to Phoenix
and you go it's too hot, and they go, yeah,
but it's a dry heat. Yes, And I live in
the South, and so I get defensive about it and
I go, oh, you think your heat's better than my heat?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Well, I like a wet heat.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Well, you know, in social media followers can't million plus
actually can't be wrong, man.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Wet heat. The new Netflix special is out, Dusty. I
was in Charleston a couple weeks ago for the first
time and I tried she crab soup. Have you ever
had it?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I have had it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
It's like a shower, right.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I you know, I don't know a lot about chowder,
but I yeah, it's a cream based soup with some
crabs in there and a little sherry. Yeah, that's the sheep.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
What happened? Duty? For a while I thought it was
only made with female crabs, and I thought that seems
like a very.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Difficult right right, Hey, yeah, I think it was made
with egg row at some point.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yea ye, tell my buddy, can'tara that that Red Eyed
gravy is a real thing? Is a real dish?

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, you know, I don't. I don't know that I've
ever had it, but it is for sure a real dish.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
What makes it red Southern American sauce, typically made from
the drippings of pan fried country ham, gantera and black coffee.
Bird eye.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Red eye, Yeah, red Eye gravy.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Put that little bit in in my cereal in the morning.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Hey, Dusty, who do you Who do you run with?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Like?

Speaker 3 (02:30):
When I see you on podcast?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
What group?

Speaker 3 (02:32):
What are you comedian friends? I see he's trying to
judge you. Be careful where you fall between Theovon and
Nate Bergetzi.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Well, I you know, I do a podcast with Nate Bergotzi.
I don't really run with anyone. I don't think I'm
kind of a lone wolf out here. I like that
like that, But I do, you know, a weekly podcast
with Nate. So of the two, that's who I run
with the most. You know, I'm really I'm really a

(03:00):
lone wolf out here. I've always been working the road
by myself. I've always been doing my own thing.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Like does Nate Bargazzi and and Dusty Slay get together
at the end of a night and have martinis at
a bar. It's hard for me to picture that happening.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Well, neither of us drink, but we have. We have
gone out for you know, food before, we've hung out
in Vegas. I also don't gamble, but I've hung out
with Nate in Vegas while he had a crew of
people and had his own you know, Nate's big time,
so he had his own section of the of the

(03:35):
casino for him and his crew, and we hung out
there and I watched people lose money.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
You're but you're you're like you're you're big time and rising,
you know what I mean. Mean, You've got this Netflix specially,
like I feel like Nate just got out a little
in front of you, but you're on the same success path.
I feel like Dusty.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Well, I feel like that too. Honestly, I've always I
actually have always said that I don't necessarily have the
same kind of aspirations. I like what I'm doing. I've
made it to theaters. So if you go to my
website Duftysleigh dot com all my tour dates, they're all theaters,
and I'm excited about that. I don't know that. You know,

(04:16):
of course, when you do an arena, as Nate does,
there's more money to that, and everybody likes money, right absolutely,
But I think theaters for me, is the best way
to see comedy. I love comedy clubs, but I think
a theater. You know, people come in they said, in chairs,
the chairs are facing the stage, there's no servers, there's

(04:40):
no you know, it's just people watching you do comedy,
and I think that's the.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Best no to pit waitress dropping a plated dishes in
the middle of your punchlines.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I've been to the Albany Funnybone many times and I
do and I do love it there.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
We love it when you come here, when you go
home to the fam.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Only you have one child.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I have two kids, two kids, two kids.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
What do you get you guys? Sit down? You have
a meal? Do you watch TV together? What do you
do together with your your very normal looking family, Dusty.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Well, we do, you know, we do all sorts of things,
but for meals, we try to set at the table.
I grew up in a trailer and we never when
I when I would visit my dad, we would eat
in front of the TV. When I was with my mom,
we would eat in front of the TV. And I'm
trying to create you know, I've seen movies where families

(05:35):
sit around the table, and I know that seems easy.
You know, I want to create that in my house.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah, it's Dusty Slays. New Netflix specials out on Netflix
is called it's called Wet Heat. I know you're playing
some dates not coming to all, but if you're coming
kind of nearby. You're coming to New York for a
couple of dates, which.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Is very cooled in Chattanooga, which at that theater I love.
I love Chattanooga good stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Well, yeah, I'm a big fan of Chattanooga. I live
in Nashville, Tennessee, and I filmed my first special in Knoxville.
Uh so, uh, you know, it worked out timing wise
to film in Chattanooga because I already had a show there.
So uh now I filmed two specials in Tennessee. I
may just keep it going. I may love every I

(06:22):
may hit every city in Tennessee.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Are you still getting residual checks for your Cracker Barrel commercial?

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Well, you know they really, they really can't. I wish
it was residuals because I understand they've aired that thing
quite a bit.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
It's like that's so weird, Like why is Dusty slaying
a Cracker Barrel commercial?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Well, you know it's Cracker Barrel headquarters is right down
the street from me, and I had I drove ten
minutes to a Cracker Barrel to film that commercial. People
flew in from LA to film it and I drove
ten minutes and I yeah, I mean it's great. I
gotta They paid me, you know, a flat rate to
do it. And then I also they also threw in

(07:03):
a corporate gig, So in a couple of weeks, I'm
going to Orlando to do a cracker barrel corporate gig.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Then you should have thrown a rocker, Dusty cheap.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Well I should get a rocker, that's for sure. I'll
I'll talk to them about that at the Oh yeah,
tell you not cheap. They are not giving those things away?

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Are you a little sad? For whatever reason? That duster
was canceled on on the street.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
The haircut a haircut a little.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Bit, well, yeah, you know, but there can only be
room for so many dusts. So I got to clear
the way, you know. I'm trying to get myself to
where you type in Dusty on Google, I can come
up before Dusty Springfield and Dusty Hill and Dusty Roads
and Dusty Baker. They get over those.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Mountains, big mountains. Yourself up. Well, we're gonna google Dusty Slayer,
search Dusty Slay on Netflix and watch your new special
Wet Heat, and we'll see you when you come to town.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Man. Thanks Dusty, all right, thank you very much. I
appreciate you guys, our pleasure.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
It's Quinny, can't tear it. Picks one of six
