Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is john just a long, slow slog to the
end of the season, now, isn't it, Johnny?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
I hope not. But certainly the last couple of games
have not gone well. In a game where, based on
who was on the field, the Giant should have been
in that game and had a pretty good chance of
being in and winning, they certainly did not play well
enough on either side of the ball to walk away
with a win.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Yesterday, Giants lose to the Niners at home, thirty four
to twenty four. I hate to make excuses, but I
mean injuries. You've got your top running back and your
top receiver, and you've got a rookie quarterback. I don't
know how you get any better.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Well, it's funny when you said I don't want to
make excuses for injuries. I was going to start on
the defensive side of the ball, where they were missing
three of their top corners. They're starting safety, and you know,
I expected the Niners to score points in this game
because of that. Mac Jones through the air I think
had the best quarterback ranning of his career in this game.
I was disappointed with the run defense because as not

(01:00):
really impact them in injuries quite as much except for
the you know that sense of Mike McFadden and Darius Mussol.
But you know how often. No, he had one tackle
in the game, I think, and he had like one pressure,
but I don't remember that. Yeah, I think I was

(01:20):
early in the game. The uh yeah, he had a
pressure that I think forced a complete passed and the
offic side of the bow. You're right, though, they opened
the game with a touchdown. Then they went five straight
drives without a score, and that's when the Niners kind
of opened up the lead a little bit. They had
missed Sielgewal in there too, so you know, when you
look at it, they don't have those guys that can

(01:43):
be those explosive playmakers. And you know, Darius Layton late
in the game dropped the pass that could have been
for a touchdown. Theo Johnson dropped the third down pass
over the middle. Over the course of the game. They
were missing their starting right tackle in this game to
Jermaine A Luminir, their second tight end. They've been using
two tight ends a lot. Daniel Bellinger he missed this
game too, So, yes, injuries are starting to take a toll,
but it's hard to use that guys in an excuse

(02:05):
this game. The forty nine Ers are the most injured
team in the National Football League. They have more injuries
than anybody, So both teams are in the same situation
in that game. And the Giants just were not good
enough to win.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
So I mean, let's like, let's take a step back
and look at the look at the schedule here where
which we have to I mean, when when do you
see your next chance for a win? Is it this
weekend against the Bears?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah? Yeah, look, I mean I was I was joking,
but yeah, I mean, look, the Packers and the Lions
are gonna be tough though, those are the two weeks
after this upcoming one. And the Patriots are pretty good too, right,
But the Bears are a team that almost just lost
to the Bengals. They scored a lot of points, so
they gave up forty points to you know, Joe Flacklin Cincinnati.
So yeah, I mean, it's a it's a road game.

(02:50):
And and the Packers did lose to the Panthers this
week and just a brutal, weird game. I hadn't watched
much of that game, but don't that was just to
lose like that? It is very strange. But the Bears
are vulnerable. They gave a lot of points. Caleb Williams
is up and down. The Giants have not won a
road game this year yet, just you know, so they
have to break through that a little bit. But look,
the Bears are a very beautiful team. I haven't looked

(03:11):
what the early number is. I'm sure it's you know,
I had most what like four and a half points
something like that. So I'm sure that they will be
I mean they'll if they play better and they get
some of these guys back from injury, I'm sure they'll
be in a good position to try to win the game.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
You know, you're you're a younger man. Would you remember
Tom Dempsey the kicker John Schmilk.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
I remember the name. I don't remember watching him play.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
He was born without toes, so he had a flat shoe.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Correct, Yeah, that is right, like like a cult foot
almost right.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
So is stealing his entire legacy right, I'm putting.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
The ruler oute there. I thought I heard that he
lined it with like lead, like it was heavy. Did
you ever hear that? I?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
No, I did not, Okay, I don't want to.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Take away from a sixty three yard kick, but I
think it's controversially had that sixty eight yard kick this
weekend have representing kick even.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Need a whole foot And by the way, that sixty
eight yard kick would have been good for about seventy
four That ball hit the bottom of the net behind
the goal post. That was an absolute bomb by that kid.
Cam Little is unbelievable, kid.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
I mean, kickers are so specialized. Now we're going to
see a seventy yarders soon, I think.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I mean, I mean Brandon Aubrey for the Cowboys at a
seventy yarder in the preseason last year. So yeah, absolutely
are no question.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
As John Schmelt for the Giants pre and post game show,
Giants fall to the Niners yesterday, Daniel Jones comes back
down to earth a little bit. Colts lose to the
Steelers twenty seven to twenty. Did that surprise you.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah it did. And give the Steelers defense credit. You know,
Aaron Rodgers actually been pretty good for them this year.
He has not been the problem is what he used
to be. No, but he's been more than good enough
for the Steelers win some of these games. The problem, though,
is that their defense, which is supposed to be the
part of the team that was supposed to be the
strength and carrying and falling apart. And they go into
that game. They sacked Jones. I think he got sacked

(04:57):
five times. They've had five takeaways in that game. And
the Steelers defense look like what they envisioned when they
put that team together this year. So yeah, give give
the Steelers defense credit. They did a really really nice job.
And you know, for his sake, I'm a big Daniel
Jones stan. I hope this is just a bloop on
the radar and he can bounce back and have a
good game. Remember, though, Colts that one of the easiest

(05:17):
schedules in the league the first half of the year,
and I think the fifth or sixth hardest one the
second half of the year. So it'll be real test
to see exactly how good these Colts are.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Hey, Giants plus three point five over the Bears plus
three point five.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
That says it's got a plus three point five in
front of the Giants and a negative three point five
in front of the Bear. The Giants are favored against
the Bears. Is that how reading?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
No, no, no, no, no, no. Giants plus three point five, which
means they're they're three and a half point underdogars.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
You make more moneyment there's a plus in there. I
know that we're learning. We're learning as everybody.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Hey, the Broncos with another come from behind victory. It
was ugly eighteen to five over the Texans. So I mean,
don't feel so.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Bad Giants fans. It happens to a lot of teams.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah. I think we need Bonnicks to go through some
like visualization at exercises, where if he just visualized that
every quarter is the fourth quarter, maybe Tames he has
just been sleepy in the first two or three quarters
of some of these games, but he's been great in
the fourth quarter. All right.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Twin mentioned that he wants to talk about his vikings
beating the Lions. That was a surprise that surprised a
lot of us. But he does that visualization thing too.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
He does that where he sits on the bench and
he and he meditates.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Yeah I didn't hear that.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's the whole thing. He like sits,
he like cross legs in front of the goalpost right
pre game and does like his visualation. Now in the
pro ball he sits on the bench, but he's got
that like third eye triangle. He's a little uh doctor
strange action for him. Yeah, I was, I was. I
was surprised by that. And look, Jaj McCarthy needed that

(06:45):
because they have no other quarterbacks there now with Winshart,
they need him to do well. And then how about
the job the Bills did against passing homes in that game?
The Bills defense unbelievable job. I didn't have a chance
to see a lot of that game. I was hosting
the post game at that point, and then I was,
you know, getting getting home and everything.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Really really nice job by was good. Listen, yet again
the Bills do it in the regular season. I'm I'm
bored of this, dude.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
You are one hundred percent right. I heard, like all
the talk on Friday was is this a must winning
game for the Bills that they proved they can beat
the Chiefs. I'm like, guys, they've beatn the Chiefs in
the regular season a bunch of times. Yeah, there's nothing
left to prove there, but they need to prove that
they can do it in January. They haven't done that yet.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
But if the season ended right now, the regular season,
that the Chiefs would not be in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
That'll change. Really, That's what I say last night. The
eighth there, eighth in the conference.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yes, I would be I would be shocked. I honestly
shoot the nuts right now. I still think the Chiefs
are probably the best team in the AFC, So yes,
I would be shocked if they were not in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Yeah, I agree, John Smelt the Giants pre and post
game shows. We'retty talk to you on Friday preview the
Bears game. But to have a great week.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Man, sounds good boys talking on Friday morning.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Thanks.
