Speaker 1 (00:02):
True.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Let's talk Giants football, brought to you by Curtis lumber
your local full service home center and Lumberyard. And now
from the New York Giants Pre and postgame show, it's
John Schmeld, gentleman.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Good morning, John schmelg everybody.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
How's the moon in the locker room? John?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I mean, guy, I haven't been in there yet, but guys,
based on what based on the audio to put back
in the post game yesterday, guys are pretty happy. Crazy game.
But you know the Jack and Dart era starts of
the win, which is a great thing.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Hey, was this like an Abdual Carter coming out party
in a way?

Speaker 3 (00:42):
It's funny. The answer is yes. Even though he did
not have a sack in the game, but he was
all over the place. He was in the backfield, he
got tons of pressures. I think he had five official
quarterback hits in the game. He was almost unblockable. And
it's funny how many times over the last ten of
ten years have been doing these spots. Again, as where
I come in, I said, well, you know, the Giants
offensive line was either banged up or they were heard,

(01:04):
and they just couldn't blocked the other team's best players.
And that was the case, except that was the opposite
this week. Right. The Chargers were without both their tackles,
you know, they're one of their starting guards was out,
and they just could not block the Giants defensive front.
And that's why the Giants are able to hold on
their twenty points.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Giants twenty one, Chargers eighteen. I gotta say, John, for
a lot of our audience, the CBS affiliate out.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Here didn't have the goddamn game.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Was showing the Bills.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
What what game?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Bill Saints?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Oh geez, yeah, we actually got two calls on the
postgame show. I don't know, we actually got two calls
on the postgame show yesterday from people up there complaining
about the same thing. And I don't know. To me,
allbody's always in Giants country. To me, I find it
very surprised that they would go, especially Patriots, I mean
the Bill Saints. I mean, that is exactly a big

(01:55):
game either, So I don't get that one.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Shawn Schmelt from the Giants pre and post games. Jackson
Dard has, you know, good for him, good for the Giants,
but he's got a lot of improvement needed here, of course.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
And look I talked to you guys the last week
when when I was on right, I said, look, don't
look to first of all, look to any one player
as the savior. It's an eleven player, you know, game
eleven players on the field, but especially don't look at
a rookie quarterback as a savior. And look, we saw
the limitations. You know, he took sixty to five sacks
in the game, and he's held the ball. I think

(02:28):
he had trouble figuring out what the charges are doing
down the field and coverage. But he made enough of
those you know, loose plays where he was able to
run the ball, he was able to kind of avoid
the rush and make plays in the pocket, stuff that
Russell Wilson was kind of struggling with at his advanced age,
and he made just enough plays combined with those two
big defensive plays right, the interception by Dexter Lawrence and
Andrew Phillips. Yeah, to put the ball inside the five

(02:50):
yard line.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Yeah, I did hear about that, of course I did.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yeah, Apparently he got Apparently he got up to almost
seventeen miles prior on that run, which which for tackle
is pretty impressive. So guys, t win and look, everyone
wants to point Jackson nort to say, oh that's the reason. Look,
they play a role, absolutely, but this was a team
win with defense, special teams and then guys on offense,
and they ran the ball. The running backs ran a

(03:16):
four four hundred yards too, So they they have aren't
had a lot of help. But if you want to
keep winning games, that's what you have to do. Around
the rookie, tell.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
A round of applause for Kara Dart Jackson's mom.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
They showed Jackson's mom a lot during the game.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Yeah, I noticed that, I mean doing no like, were
they about her when they were showing her.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
I don't know why. I'll find out for sure. John Smolt,
the jah Heights pre and postgame show, I was a
little surprised talk about the Kansas City Baltimore game that
Kan's that Casey put up thirty seven on Baltimore. That's
a problem for Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
It is an absolute problem for Baltimore. And Baltimore's defense
has been an issue all year. Their run defense specifically
has been poor. But they made the Chiefs and Patrick
Mahomes look like the old Patrick Mahomes in this game.
The most vigor Worthy was back, so that has a
lot to do with it, But whoa man? That Ravens
team needs to figure out their defense if they want
any chance of competing with the best teams to try

(04:16):
to win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
How about the Ultimate sister Kiss. The Packers and Cowboys
played tie.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
I didn't stand for that brutal.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
And guys, I did, and it was an unbelievable game.
They went back and forth. I think they'll probably scores
on the last six possessions of the game. It was
actually very reminiscent of the Giants Cowboys game in Week two,
except the Packers had the ball last in this game,
and they managed to kick that field goal to tie
it in overtime. Though I don't know if you saw

(04:45):
the last play the game for the Packers, they almost
completely mismanaged the clock. So the playofs of that eighteen
seconds to go, they have no timeouts left as a
third down, and they decided to try to squeeze a
play in before the field goal, and Jordan Love throws
it into the end zone a bound. This is off.
The Cowboys defend their first of all. He turns around,
it's an interception, but the ball hits the ground with

(05:05):
literally maybe like half a second left on the clock.
So if that ball, you know, goes in the air
an extra half second or Love holds an extra half second,
that clock runs out and the Packers don't have a
chance to win. So very fortunate was Green Bay that
they did not blow that final play and the Cowboys
would have won that game out right in overtime.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Well, the Jackson Dart era continues. What's next for the Giants?

Speaker 3 (05:27):
John Giants are in New Orleans to take on the
Saints this Sunday. The pregame on Picks at noon next
week kick off in one.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
This is where we thought we'd start to see Jackson
Dart playing. But now he's going. He's going into this,
you know, ramped up. This is good.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
I hear's the thing that isn't his. It's annoying if
you just you know, if the Cowboys kicker doesn't make
that sixty four yard field go in week two, you're
staring at a two and two record here. So it's
a shame, but you know what, that's what good teams do.
They win these kind of you know, close, tight games.
To not do that in week two and now you
go ahead to New Orleans. New Orleans does not win
the game, we'll see if it's Spencer Ratler. Could they

(06:06):
start their own rookie Tyler shook for the first time
on Sunday against the Giants. I think that's a possibility.
We'll see what they do this week in terms of
their quarterback. We'll keep an eye on that for you. Win.
I got maybe, but he's like, maybe CBS wasn't showing
you the Bills game. Maybe they were showing you the

(06:27):
Saints skill. And that's why.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
I want to shout out Cam Scattaboo. I don't know
what he had for stats, it doesn't matter. He's so
entertaining to watch. Two yard gains are fun from him.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Everything he does is fun. Man. Like I said, he's
kind of like the right you know, he's like the
right type of crazy. But he's gonna have to come.
I'm not gonna say comment at a little bit, but
he is. He keeps running like this. You know, may
him twenty five carries. They needed him to take twenty
five carries. With Tyrone Tracy out, it's gonna be hard
for him to stay healthy and entire year running the
way he runs. So I think it's some point there

(07:00):
might have to be some type of style of adjustment
from him. And by the way, there's gonna have to
be a style of adjustment from Jackson Dart as well.
Did you guys see the long Run where he tries
to like stiff form a guy but he doesn't really
stiff for me, basically tries to like like swap him
in the side of the head with the throwing hand.
It's like, dude, what are you doing? What happens to
this finger gets caught in a face mask? There? Right,

(07:21):
that's your throwing hand, Like he needs to he needs
to kind of stop doing that type of the.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Room guys, what about neighbors? Do we talk?

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Na?

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Do we miss that?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Sorry, Quinn, I figure.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Right, I think Ken Tarret Quinn is always here to
make sure we get to all the football nuances of
every conversation. I love that he is all over it.
But no, look and and here's the thing. And this
is how I opened up as the postgame show. I
started with, like, you know, the good news giantsman, all
that stuff, and then I'm like, and then in the
category of Giants fans can't have nice things even on
a great win where Jackson Dart wins his first ever

(07:55):
starting to get your first one of the year, you
lose probably not probably, you lose your best defensive player
for the year, or at least what it looks like. It'll
be confirmed today with an ACL injury. So that's the
killer and basically, and it's also gonna hurt Jackson Dark
development all year, you know, not having the number one
wide receivers to depend on, it's gonna make it much
tougher to judge how good Dart is because neighbors is

(08:18):
not there. So it is a devastating injury. I cannot undersell.
I mean, I cannot overseell part of me how devastating
it is. It's bad, it's brutal, it sucks.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
We appreciate the time, man, We always appreciate the art.
We'll talk on Friday. Sound good boy, John Spilt the
Giants post game pre and post game show.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
Thanks for allan CPL

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
