Speaker 1 (00:01):
Quinnin Cantara, Caplan.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
All right, let's welcome into the show our friend from
New Scotland spirits.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
It's Jesse Summers and we're going to get into it.
He's running the Veterans Day Rock March fundraiser for the
Farm year in Awa. This is the fourth year, fourth year.
But I tried your gin us about it in the
gin where it's from what the ahibition? Gin?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Yeah, this is Jack Diamonds Prohibition, but we spelled the
prohibition prohibit gin. Yeah, I got that, and so you
can pronounce it prohibition or you can pronounce it prohibition.
The point is is that it is Legs Diamonds Memorial gin.
Legs Diamond was the prohibition Eric gangster who was murdered
on Dove Street right around the corner from our tasting room.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Perfect.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
This is a London dry gin and it is designed
to celebrate his notoriety, not just being a bootlegger who
distilled bathtub gin, but also one who hijacked the trucks
loaded with booze from his rivals, which is one of
the reasons he was captain too and Dove Street.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Kind of overachiever, afraid about who murdered in one of
his own guys.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Believe it or not, Dan O'Connell, who was the head
of the Democratic Party machine in the County of Albany.
They are strongly, strongly believed, like ninety nine percent that
he ordered his his capos in the police department of
the City of Albany. We should probably keep the parties
out of this kind of story, guy, just.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
For the records. Exactly years ago, yes, nineteen thirty one.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
So we're coming up on the centennial.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Well, I tried your jam.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Chad poured me a sample at personal lines that it
was like, I'm not a I don't know what I'm
looking for. I just know what I like and I
really enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
I really appreciate. But it wasn't like it wasn't hoy.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Toy, you know what I mean? No accessible all right?
So what is the Veteran's Day rock March? Where does
the money go? When does it happen?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
So New Scotland Spirits, for the fourth year in a row,
is hosting its Veterans Day nonprofit fundraiser. It's a rook March,
and a rock march is a military style training event.
Got it where people will. You don't have to. You
can come as you are no backpack or we call
them rucksacks on your back, but if you'd like to,
you can have it loaded down with food to be
(02:13):
donated to the food pantries for the Capital District. Perfect,
that's it, that's the ticket, right. Thirty dollars Quinn is
the registration fee, and thirty dollars that money is all
going to go to one of three organizations, the Boot Campaign,
the Hidden Battles Foundation, or the Capital Region Veterans Memorial.
These organizations are veteran focused. They're veteran oriented, and what
(02:36):
we're trying to do is bring together that one group
of people who are almost pathologically committed to serving, and
that is veterans. So if you folks are out there
and you're looking to march six point eight miles by
six point eight because sixty eight is the military occupational
specialty code for the Army combat medic without whom many
(02:59):
of us would not have been extricated from the battlefield,
that's exactly right. And in fact, we use that because
we launched a title. One of our spirits is sixty
eight whiskey, which is to say this, you know kind
of way that we're celebrating, not just that one mos
as it's called, but all veterans, everyone who who came home.
(03:21):
And that's an interesting I want to point this out, gentlemen,
the distinction between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
I love this y.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Memorial Day is when you honor those who have fallen.
Veterans Day is when you assemble those who came home.
And so this is a great opportunity, the fourth one
in a row where people can come out to the
town of New Scotland village the Vorysville American Legion and
then it goes down the rail trail three point four miles.
(03:50):
We then do an about face and that three point
four mile march goes back.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
I gotta I gotta make the sixth day what I
was going to sell. I'll never get home exactly.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
You are marching together, well, not necessarily. What if someone's
at a different pace.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
A bunch of my Green Beret brut buddies come and
they have something to prove. And so every year if
they post up and then you know, the bagpipes play
and we then march off and these guys take off.
And so every year it's like what we thought was
going to be this nice camaraderie of everyone marching together. No,
although the high speed high achievers are just taking off
and running.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
How about this, If you register by Monday to twentieth,
you're throwing in a free Rock March T shirt.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
I want everyone to understand that if you want your
T shirt and their snazzy T shirts, if I may
be so bold, you have to register by the twentieth
of October, which is just like a week and a
half away. So you go to New Scotland spirits dot com,
slash Rock Dash March, YEP News, Conspirits dot com slash
(04:50):
Rock March and you can then order for thirty bucks
your registration. That money goes to charity and you'll get
a free T shirt like eleven days ten eleven days.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
I believe that's right. They're after you do own a bar,
a man, there is a.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
There is a there is an after party. It's at
the Northern Barrel restaurant. And here's one thing I will say.
I'm not celebrating those who drink, but I do know
that those who drink seem to enjoy our finisher's reception
on the other side of our Rock.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
March nice man finishers reception. I like that. That's what
we call it.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
All right, one more time, New Scotland Spirits dot com
rout Rock Dash March.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
That's exactly right, Newstoland Spirits dot com slash Rock Dash
March and you can register.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
You'll get a free T shirt.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
All the money goes to veteran oriented organizations, the Hidden
Metals Foundation, the Boot Campaign, Capitol Region Veterans Memorial and
November eight, November eighth, Saturday November eighth, that's the Saturday
before Veterans Day. And the last thing is if you
do want to show up with a rucksack loaded down
with food, it'll all be donated to the food pantries
for the Capitol District. Last year, gentlemen, one hundred and
(05:54):
sixty nine participants. See, we donated three thousand pounds of food.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, let's try to.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Get to two hundred this year and keep growing this
thing for Roger that gentleman real quickly here, Jesse, so
much from New Scotland Spirits.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Well, you're writing campaign for what are you running for?
Speaker 3 (06:08):
I am the party unaffiliated right in candidate for the
presidency of Allbodies Common Council. That's the city legislature.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Okay, so just right, so write your name in there.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Writ in Jesse Summer, and for all my military brethren
out there, Juliet Echo Sierra Sierra, Echo Sierra Oscar. Mike,
Mike Echo Romeo, Jesse Summer. Right right there there you go.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Good luck with the rock.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
March Man Great Jobs picks one of six winning Cantera
in the morning.
