Speaker 2 (00:16):
Anyway.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Now time to talk sport with zeb's sport man himself,
A Dean McLoughlin.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good a Dean, how you going.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Morning, term? It's great to be on with your first
time for me?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well you have, isn't it a highlight for you? Good
way to start the day. Not that you've just started,
you've been here at four o'clock. So Swiss kiwe Lulu
Sun has qualified for the main drawer in the ladies
singles and Wimbledon.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Zealand has been in the women's single since Marina Irakovic
back in twenty sixteen, so it's it's quite a big deal.
And she's world number one hundred and twenty three, had
to go through three rounds of qualifying to make it,
and it'll be her second Grand Slam appearance after appearing
at the Aussie Open earlier this year, and she's just

(00:58):
switched allegiance from Switzerland to New Zealand. Played at the
Billy Jean King Cup for New Zealand in April, so yeah,
great to have her on.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
I was just saying when I saw Swiss Kiwi. I
was about to say which one is it? But she's
now identifying as a keywik.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
She's very much here. She was born in Tian Now
of all places.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Wow, what a greape. Oh I love Tiana. Fantastic place.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Cricket India playing England in the second semi final of
the T twenty World Cup. We've sort of moved on
in New Zealand from that in away, haven't we because
of our wonderful effort.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
But yeah, looking forward to that India and England, yeah,
big time.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
And India has really started to put the clamps on them.
England's chasing one hundred and seventy two. They started promisingly,
but they have stumbled, been reduced to seventy two for
six just past the halfway mark, and the Indian spinners
and running a mark actually exha Hotel's got three for
fourteen and Cold Deep now has three wickets. So India

(02:00):
has been unbeaten through this tournaments, as has South Africa
who have made the final. So the two best teams
look like they will meet in the final and that
that's going to be great.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Yeah, Actually obviously we disappointed. Who are the other teams?
That would be disappointed with their form on this. I
think Australia had a couple of games where who was
who knocked them off?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
That was I would have enjoyed that.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Afghanistan were the ones that knocked them off by twenty
one runs and then put them out of the tournament
by beating Bangladesh in controversial circumstances. But the Australian fielding
was so poor and they only had one kid under thirty.
He was twenty eight, so they were a geriatric team.
And yeah, it's good to see them four by the way,

(02:45):
say cheriatric. Yeah, and cricketing tubs I guess so, yeah, yeah,
fair enough for t twenty Like it's a young man sport,
this form of the game, because it's just so hidden.
At what age would you have considered yourself too old
to take it to hurl yourself to the side to
take a catch on the slips? Jesus, I wouldn't have
been doing that into.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
My fifties, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Anyway, Hey, what about the state of the pictures in
the West Indies?

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Pretty bad And this one's got very low bounce and
that's why the Indian spinners having a field day. The
Bulls just not getting up and it's been really variable throughout.
There's only been a handful of schools over to Hundy.
And when you see such big schools in the Indian
Premier League and in franchise cricket around the world, it's
been a little disappointing, but the games have still been exciting.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I guess yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
And rugby former Wallabies coach Michael Checker has a new
gig in England.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Yeah, how back in the spotlight Michael Checker. He is
taking over as head coach at British club Leicester. They
were Premiership winners a few years ago in twenty twenty two,
but they could only manage eight the last year and
another Aussie coach, Dan mccalla's been given the sack and
fifty seven year old Checkers back in the coaching hot

(04:01):
seat after guiding Argentina to the what was the fourth
place at the last World Cup. So's he's still around,
that young man?

Speaker 3 (04:11):
When do you think is ambitions lyle check it? Do
you think you know he's over in England? I mean,
what are we going to see him in the international
coaching Sorry for my ignorance, it's shouting out the radio
and telling.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
What he has been interesting because he coached, He's flirted
with rugby league. He coached Lebanon at the twenty twenty
one Rugby League World Cup and he was apparently in line.
He's had been chatting with Paramatta to take over as
the NRL head coach, but this has put paid to
that suggestion and he's near now getting back into rugby

(04:42):
and I think he'll be a breath of fresh air
in Britain where it's a little bit darwer.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
I love that word. I'm always confused us how to
say it. Hey, just quickly because we had that Warrior's
game against the Titans. I know even slated this for conversation,
but just a hot not a hot take, but just
your take on So they're playing the Broncos tomorrow at
five o'clock. I wonder how, I mean, I'm not sure
how into the league you are, but I wonder how

(05:11):
Warriors fans feel about future games, because it just feels
that that Titans thing is just not the wind out
of everyone's sale. What was it sixty six six all
the sixers?

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Yeah, look, yeah, yeah, the devil is a number six
six six, But with the why is you just never
know what you're going to get at the moment, and
that's one of those things where you're looking tomorrow and
you think, oh, you know, after that performance last weekend,
they've got no show.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
They'll bounce back.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
It's my prediction. I reckon they'll win, because what happens
is you think you see an amazing opposition coming up.
You think, oh, there's going to struggle to beat beat
the Panthers, and all of a sudden you say, oh,
my goodness, they won, and then you think, well, they're
going to do the Titans. It's like, well, what's the
opposite of that. I didn't predict sixty six six, but.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
I totally agree. And the Broncos haven't won since the
start of State of Origin. They have a few players
in there, they're not a great Origin rank and then
they won't be coming off that game with much confidence.
So yeah, get behind the Warriors. Another sold out crowd there.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I think that that's why that's also why league is
so I think. I don't know, I'm trying to work
out why it's so popular because they are so unpredictable.
But that's almost is it almost? The beauty of the
Warriors is that the fans can turn up and anything
can happen anytime.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
And the fans, I.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Mean, the fans are amazing for the Warriors, aren't they exactly?

Speaker 4 (06:33):
But all you want is to see them giving one
hundred percent and I can't see them not giving it
keeps tomorrow night at Mount Smart whereas oh man, they
fell off the pace early on the weekend and they
never looked like getting back in the game, and we
just wanted to see them show a bit of heart.
Yeah they'll come tomorrow exactly. Good on your Dean, love

(06:54):
you love your optimism. By the way, it's well known
that the host of the Breakfast Show, Mike Hosking, who
is possibly the biggest fan of the Warriors, and he
Kate hawksby his wife sometimes films him and it's on Instagram.
And there's something quite beautiful about the Mike Hosking elation

(07:15):
and disappointment as well, because he doesn't you know if
you're if you blush easily, don't watch them. But I
did actually even message Cad, so I've got to have
been hanging out for that clip of his reaction to
the Titans.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
It's worth watching, good entertaining.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
I remember the Titans. I I just I must admit
I don't like to get taken on this roller coaster
a ride at the Warriors team.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
That was last week. Hey Tueresday for.
