Where's the heart spots summer breakfast weather update.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
List in the met Services? Car Loots is with us today, Carl,
how are you going?
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Very good morning on Well? Thanks, how are you good?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
So age average summer temperatures? Apparently today is the weather
a bit average too? Or what have we gotten?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Well? That's right, yeah, it's far more like average summer today.
It's really a bit of an in between compared to
what we've seen over the last three or four days,
with those big subvalies across the country leading to much
cooler conditions. However, it is really just today and then
we see a return to southleast for the rest of
the week unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Oh BlimE me. What's the best place to be in
New Zealand today?
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Well, I would say somewhere in the Bay of Plenty
would be a good place to be. There's a morning
cloud about, but it should become quite nice and fine
for a time. Maximum temperatures in the mid twenties twenty
five or twenty six, just a chance of an afternoon shower.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Gosh, and Friday is not looking too for flash. We've
got an area of low pressure bringing some rain to
much of the country.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yeah, that's right. Look, unfortunately, it's just the first of
two weather systems that's going to be affecting the country
from Friday until about Monday next week, and once again
it's really bringing this sub Antarctic air mass across the country.
So temperatures will also be quite low, probably five or
six degrees below average for this time of year.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
What's actually causing this, Because the outlook for Saturday and
Sundays is unsettled weather returning. I'd say It's been a
pretty marginal sort of summer and New Year, hasn't it.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Yeah, well, you know, especially since about Christmas, it's been
quite cool, well below average temperatures, and it's just these
southerly airflows that we get off of the Antarctic I
shelf this time of year, it's quite unusual. So that's
going to be persisting unfortunately, at least, like I said,
until about Monday. Tuesday does look like we get to
(02:04):
back again into the twenties maximum temperatures for around the country,
So that's something to look forward to.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, which part of the country is going to be
the first to sort of see some settled weather.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Well, yeah, that's a good question. We'll be in the
very far south again. We start to get a bit
of a ridge of higher pressure there again once sort
of early Monday. Temperatures for places in Otago once again,
probably in the mid twenties again on Monday. So that'll
be the first place sort of South London, Otago.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Well, okay, fingers crossed that it's going to be fine
wherever you are. Good on you, cal Thanks sir, really
appreciate your time. That's car Loots from the Mets Service.
