Speaker 1 (00:00):
Guess who's back back again. Yeah, that's right. Football is
back and that means me and Thor are back with
the Fantasy Freaking Football Show. Can't wait to get going
and starting getting our drafts ready. Things like that. Fantasy
football is back.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
It's time to review your fantasy team.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Here now, commissioners, time for fantasy freaking football. When we
last left you, we crowned a new champion four for
the first time ever in our iHeartMedia league won the championship.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yes, congratulations, thank you. Christian McCaffrey took me to the
Goal Promised Land. You know, this was the first year
I really realized there's because the season is so long
in regular the NFL that there's so many injuries and
it all just comes down to if your top pick
can stay healthy pretty much, because.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
It's also I think the big thing is if you
can pivot the right way, because there's guys that start
to show up that you didn't pick or is that
went undrafted that you grab off the waiver wire, and
if you make that right choice, that could help a
lot too.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Like in that league I had Christian McCaffrey, he stayed healthy.
Another league I had justin Jefferson, I didn't make the playoff,
so but also in the Christian McCaffrey League picked up.
I mean that's so you just get lucky with that
week one. I think so, I think he had a
big week. I just grabbed him. I don't know why.
You know, and then and so you get lucky a
lot of it. Yes, you have to know fantasy football,

(01:42):
you have to know what you're doing, you have to
know football. But I mean, let's be real. Does ESPN
need to have fifteen analysts that that break down? I
think everything and every yard of every analytic. No, it's
a lot of it is just luck because because no
one knew Pokah it's going to do.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
What he did. I did know that Aaron Waller wasn't
gonna be tied like you had claimed. Now forst show
last year.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
He before he got hurt again, which I should have
seen coming. He was He did okay, he did have
the most yards receiving yards in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
I still don't think he was tight in one, but.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah, and then he retired.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well he couldn't live up to your hype. He was like,
I literally can't live up to Thor's hype.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
I've said, so, I think every time they make a
big proclamation, the guy falls before it usually doesn't. So
I'm gonna make a big proclamation this year about somebody
I don't like, and Hope Park, Okay, that's not cool.
He's gonna have a monster year, a monster yere.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Now we are both in two leagues together, and then
we're both in a third league, but separately. So I
have my old school league that I've been in for
gosh twenty five years now, which is crazy to think about.
Which old dudes who don't even pay attention to football,
like you think I'd win it every year, but I don't.
For some reason, I don't think I've ever won the
championship in that league, which is insane. And so I'm

(03:01):
in that league. That draft is actually happened on Thursday,
and so it's coming up. Yeah I'll be the first draft.
Yeah I'll be. So by the time our next podcast
will happen, i'll have that team laid out for you,
ready to go, and so I'll see what happens in
that league. We pick when we get there our spots.
It's not like a order of finish, it's it's so

(03:21):
we when we show up. It is you pick a
number out of a hat based on what time you arrive,
and so it's it makes no sense because I'm not
showing up extra early.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
To like what's the.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Point, and so I'm usually picking in middle whatever because
I'm not a late guy. But I mean, so I'll
make my pick, so I'll find out when I get
there where I pick. Then in our iHeart league, it
is based on order of finish, so it's like the
normal NFL draft like that. So I think it makes
the most sense because you're you know, you could be
lucky and just keep picking the number one pick every year,

(03:55):
which that's not fair, and so you're twelfth because you
won the championship. I finished dead last last the first
time ever of US. So we've had that league for
twenty years and I've been the commissioner for the past
I don't know, like ten years, but I've been in
the league since day one and I've never finished in
dead last before till this past year was just a injuries,

(04:17):
tons of injuries I couldn't recover, and so because I
actually thought my draft was pretty good, but then all
my guys got hurt and so I've never had the
number one overall pick before and so I'm freaking out
a little bit because obviously I'm gonna take Christian McCaffrey,
but the Niners are my favorite team, and so I'm
like nervous.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
I hate that because I like having a guy on
my team. But then what sucks is when you're watching
the game and someone else scores it met and it
sucks because you want to enjoy the game. Kill exactly.
I know, but you yeah, you want to. It's the
worst thing.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
It's gonna be a weird deal for sure. And then
in our third league, this is the league that is
with Thor and his buddies that I joined last year,
And in that league, uh, the picks were predetermined, they
were selected by the commissioner. And so in that league,
I'm picking ninth and you're picking eleven. Eleventh, yeah, eleven, So.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
I'm picking the worst ninth, Yeah, terrible. That sucks. I'm pissed.
I'm picking eleven and twelve. And then in the other
the third league I'm in, which is like a fun league.
It's like much like your older league where you don't
know where you're drafting until till the day of and
that's on Sunday and then yeah, our draft is on Monday,
and then our draft is on Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, so I really don't know what to do at
the one spot. I'm gonna take McCaffrey. I know that,
ye in twelve at twelve. I like being at twelve
because you get the snake pick. It does suck that
you have to wait so long in between.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
You're kind of forced to do wide receiver running back
because you can. You're kind of forced to because if
I go wide receiver, Let's say, what a J. Brown
and Garrett Wilson there.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Both those are already projecting us.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Well, I'm just I'm just throwing it. Okay, there's agent.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
At that time. Take make sure to take one of those.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
One of those two guys. Or let's say, let's say
it's you know, Marvin Harrison Junior who's going first for
some reason a lot of drafts and and uh, I
don't know Chris Olave. But then they're better than a
full round of running backs. So then you're gonna have
to literally go to that like third tier of running
backs on the way back.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Yeah, you have to wait so long in between two.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
So it's like I might as well just go like,
if I go wide receiving wide receiver, I might not
have to run back for a while because a tight
end will get me more points than a running back
at that point. It's just it's kind of a that, Yeah,
it's good and bad.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
It's tough. So so those are the guys that you're
sort of projecting.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
So yeah, I've been I've been doing a little box,
doing a lot of box guy, and it looks like
it's the you know, I'm not taking are your taking?
You know, it's funny if he's if he's there, if
but my first pick, I'm not taking Saquon. I'm gonna
I'm looking at like Garrett Wilson. I'm looking at a J. Brown.
I'm looking at some sometimes Jonathan Taylor falls there. I

(06:56):
can't see Jonathan Taylor getting to eleven or twelve, but
you never know. I think will forget how good he is,
and and Anthony Richards and they snakes some touchdowns. But
if Saquon comes back in the second round, I have
no choice. You have to take him. But I'm looking
at probably taking a receiver in that first round.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, I think that makes the most sense.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Because outside of those like top four running backs. There's
such a drop off and guys get so injured at
running backs.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Now in the league with your buddies, that is a
full PPR league. And so I'm sitting nine, I'm assuming
I'm gonna go wide receiver. It sort of depends who's there.
I mean, I'm really scared off by Garrett Wilson just
because I don't know what Aaron Rodgers is gonna be. Yeah,
and so we saw what happened last year Garrett Wilson
was that he was that tweener and of first round

(07:42):
beginning of the second round guy. And obviously if you
took him, you probably dropped him at some point in
the year because you will he had no quarterback. It
wasn't his fault.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Well, and to that point at nine, Justin Jefferson, who's
the best drive receiver in the NFL. He may be sitting.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
There in the PPR full people.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
It's Sam Darn, Sam Donald. I'm thinking McCaffrey, Ceedee, Lamb,
Tyreek Hill, Jamar Chase, Amar Saint Brown, Breece Hall, Jean Robinson,
all over.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Justin Jefferson.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
I could I don't think I wouldn't, but I'm saying
I could. See it happens. People go off. Sam Donald sticks,
Who's gonna throw him the ball?

Speaker 1 (08:17):
He does?

Speaker 2 (08:18):
But you know, but even Dustin Jefferson last year missed
eight games, still had a thousand yards receiver.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
He's crazy.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Guy's insane.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
If he's at nine, that's a gift.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
That's a gift. I'll take it. It could happen. I mean,
and then you get into the second tier where where
you at with like Jamar Gibbs two early nine too early?

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Uh yeah, way too early for Jamier Gibbs. I think
if if the running backs fall like Breis Hall or Byjon,
I don't think Bijean will be there. But I mean,
if they're at nine, I would consider it. But but again,
if it's PPR, I kind and nine, I kind of
want to go wide receiving unless you got to come

(08:54):
back around and then I could get my running back there.
I don't know that that nine spot I hate.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Yeah. And then and then I think in the second
round too, where we're at in the top Davante Adams
second round, but again he's Gardner Minshrew's throwing from the ball,
he's falling a lot.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
I know Pukah's up there. Your boy, the injury scares me.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
He has a knee injury. He's missed all of camp.
He may have a monster year, but I just and
you may be if he's there, like in the second round.
If you're in like the second round, then you have
a top pick in the second round, like you're you're
the second pick, right, and you took Breese hol in
the second and then Pukkua comes all the way back.
Then yeah, you have to take him, But like, I
don't know if I'm gonna take him because that injury.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Yeah, I am seeing some interesting names towards the top
of the second round, maybe late first rounds that I
just I don't understand. I'm like, what am I missing here?
I've seen Drake London's Now I get it. You're gonna
have Kirk Cousins as your quarterback and so he's never
really had a quarterback. Yeah, and so I this may
unlock his potential, But again, that p ward scares me.

(09:55):
Potential it's boom er bust, you know that. That really
freaks me out. And so I'm not really sure if
I'm all in on a Drake London yet. Kyn Williams,
the running back from the Rams. He had a good
year last year. Really, he came out of nowhere again,
another guy. If you picked him up, you probably did
pretty well. Yeah, but I mean I haven't seen him
play a full.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Year yet aunt, which scares me.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Yeah, that's not good. Yeah, Gibbs is an interesting one.
Marvin Harrison Junior though that you brought up that one,
I'll never understand great receiver. If I can get Marvin
Harrison or your guy my league neighbors in like the
third or fourth round, I would consider that. I just
this is my own personal fantasy philosophy. I tend to

(10:38):
stay clear of rookies.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
You want a guy who's proven that high, I just.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
I don't know. And especially with with Neighbors again, you're
talking about a quarterback situation. It's not great, and so
how are they going to get him the ball? Are
they going to get him the ball? There's too many
questions there. Where to go that high?

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Where are you at with like Nico Collins, a guy
who had a good year last year. Wide receiver rooms
a little crowded, but he's going in like the third round.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Oh that's too high. Yeah, that's just too high. Yeah,
I would say you're probably safe with the Nico Collins
fifth and down. You know, Uh, the tight end position
is an interesting one as well. It's really weird that
screwed you last year. Yeah, you went, you went tight
end with like the third.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Pick, Travis Travis Kelcey, fifth pick fififth pick of the
first was high, but was so stupid.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Yeah, that didn't work out for you.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
So stupid. That was so stupid. But yeah, Sam So
Sam Laporta is like the top guy right now, but
I think is he still injured.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
I'm sure everybody's talking about Ferguson this year from the Cowboys,
that he's sneaking up in there the top three guy.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yep. A lot of people love Dalton king K this
year because they're like, who's gonna go throw, Who's Josh
Allen gonna throw? Who's Josh Allen gonna throw to? So?
And then Trey McBride, you know who? I really like
Mark Andrews. I think he's starting the year on the
pup list. Well, he was in that car accident and
hear so his backup. Of course, I can't remember his
name right now. Isaiah likely he played pretty well last year.

(12:01):
I wouldn't. I'm saying sneaky. Yeah. I mean if if
Mark Andrews can't start the year, that's a sneaky little
tight enda. Other than Zay Flowers, who's throwing the ball?
Who's who's the receivers in Baltimore? You know what I mean?
Then they got Derek Henry now, so that's good, but
like I don't know who the receivers are.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
It's gonna be interesting for sure. We will always take
your questions. If you got a question for next week
about your upcoming draft, you're probably already drafted. If you
have a question about your draft, how you think you
did obviously, who to start, who to sit, things like that,
you can always hit us up. You can email us,
you can hit us up on X at the show
thor or at the show Eddie. We will answer your

(12:39):
questions every single week. And before we even get going
here we have questions. I can't believe it. We already
got emails and questions about certain situations that have already
come in. First question says, hey, guys, I am brand
new to fantasy football this year as this is my
first year playing. Congratulations your life is over and will

(13:00):
be a religious listener to your podcast to see what
to do. I have the second pick in my draft,
and I'm seeing lots of different picks. There, any thoughts
on who to take at number two? Thanks guys.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
I mean I think to me, I'm going running back
and I it just depends.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
It depends. I wish you would told us if he's
full PPR standard, yeah, because that that changes it for me.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, I would. I I was all in on Bajean Robinson,
but I'm so concerned that they're not gonna use him
one hundred percent, and they're gonna use I forgot his
backup with name, and they're gonna use his backup a ton.
So honestly, I'm gonna go Breese Hall with that second pick,
number two, because they're gonna have to. They're gonna they're
gonna be a team. This are they gonna throw the ball. Yeah,

(13:43):
But Rogers he can't move like he used to. He's forty.
I think they're gonna lean heavy on Breese Hall and
they're gonna have Rogers be more a little bit more
of a game manager.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
See anything, I'm okay with Breese Hall being a top
five pick, number two. You're you're out of your mind.
I'm going Bejon there if if it's if it's PPR,
then I'm probably either gonna go Tyreek Hill or Ceedee Lamb.
I would probably go with Tyreek Hill just because he

(14:11):
didn't miss all it's a lot more proven and didn't
miss all the training camp. But Ceedee Lamb is a
good pick too. I think either one of those two
you're fine.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
I think about that scares me, is he missed all
training camp. You usually what a guy misses all training camp.
He tweaks his hamstering round week two and then he's
out for a couple of weeks, and then he'll come
back of a monster year. But those couple of weeks
that he's out, you don't prepared.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
I'm not saying don't draft Ceede Lamb, but just be ready.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Okay. Next question says I have a question as my
draft is this Monday for my PPR Keeper league, I'm
debating not keeping anyone or taking a shot in the
dark and using it on Anthony Richardson. It would take
place of my eleventh pick this year. Do you think
that's an okay place to take a shot or don't bother?

(14:54):
Thanks and looking forward to the podcast this season.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Don't bother to Richard's a guy.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
You love the Colts.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I don't love the Colt.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
You drafted like ninety Colts in the last two years.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
I am an Anthony Richisted fan. I think he's gonna
be a good quarterback.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
I think the hype on him has gotten.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
A cat out of eleven and eleventh round.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Oh, I thought you said eleventh pick.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
I think eleven eleventh. Okay, I would assume that's what
because if it's the.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Eleventh pick, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
No, I think he means the eleventh round.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Yeah, that's great because but he's probably gonna get hurt
at some point. He's still more of a runner than
a thrower. He's still more of a runner than the thrower.
You gotta he needs to learning how to throw. I
think he's got a rocket for an arm, but he's
got to stay healthy.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Very wrong saw that last year when he was in there.
It was again it was kind of boom or bust us.
He looked great, but then he'd get hurt.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
And then he get hurt. So I mean that may
only be a one year thing. He only played in
college for a year, so I don't know if he
has an injury history.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
We're in that pe word again, potential exactly if he's
your second quarterback, if you've already taken a quarterback and
you feel pretty good, if you're you have a Job
Allen or Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes, and you go, okay, well,
I could take a flyer then on Anthony Richardson, then
go ahead, but I don't. I wouldn't. That guy wouldn't
be my start.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
No, And I'm sorry. I know I see the Mike
Clay's and the Matthew Berrys and the Field Yates.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
We don't hate every other podcast or fantasy guy. I know.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
That they're all telling you how good he's gonna be.
But these were also the same guys telling you Trey
Lance you should draft that during Trey Lance's second year,
and I remember being like, the guy's never played, Like,
what are you talking about? But they look at his
ability to run and score touchdowns. But he's I gotta
see it first.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Let's be safe and take a Josh Allen or Lamartz exactly,
you know, because those guys are automatic. Yeah, so there
you go. All right, we're gonna leave you with a
sleeper pick as you're getting ready to draft we're each
gonna give you a name or a guy out there
that's a little sneaky that maybe not one of the
guys you're gonna take in the top ten rounds. Maybe,

(16:55):
but there's a guy that maybe you can sneak in
there and take late. Who do you like, Eddie?

Speaker 2 (16:59):
I I got between two guys and one guy you're
gonna draft earlier than the tenth rounds, and that's Javonte Williams. Now,
you may be saying yourself, well, Javonte's a no name.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
He is.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
He was coming off a pretty serious knee injury last year.
He had some good games, but not great. He didn't
really play well, got lost in the shuffle, They cut SAMRJMJ. P. Ryan,
Sean Payton has said good things about Javonte Williams. It's
only Javonte Williams, and I don't know how to say
Jalil McLaughlin, I think is how to say his last name.
It's only them. So I think Javonte Williams is going

(17:31):
to be a stud this year. Also in Cleveland, do
not sleep on Jerome Ford. He's all they got. I
think Jerome Ford will be a guy that you could
that you could get the ball to that's gonna get
you like fifteen to twenty points a game. Because that's
all they have is Jerome Ford. You told Nick Chubb
I did, and and they and he's not a great

(17:51):
he wasn't a pass capture really sometimes. But again, that's
all they have is jern Ford. Because I think they
cut somebody too. So Jerome Ford, Javonte Williams, two guys
you get later.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Okay, Oh well you're just throwing Devin Singletary. How dare
you are you? You're not gonna take any giant?

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Are you only there like the fifth round?

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Okay? Well, that's that'd be bad. All right, I'll be
I'm gonna give you kind of two names to okay,
Uh the wide receiver spot. Uh, there's a guy that
I I like a lot, and we know kind of
his story. It's taken at least a full year for
him to get up to speed and get back to
where he should be. But I like Jamison Williams, the

(18:31):
wide receiver for the Lions. You know, we remember, you
know him was coming off that injury and then he
kind of came back his rook and then he got
suspended and so he's had like this start stop, start stopped.
But ability wise, he's.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
A first red and crazy and he looks incredible when.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
He's when he's out there. And so obviously Alma ra
is gonna get the bulk of the catches and things
like that. But I like that deep threat of Williams
and I think that he could catch eight to nine
touchdowns this year. I really do so. Sneaky guy. I
think he can get in there in the later rounds.
And then the other name that I like, I like
the just I just like saying his name. Zach Charbonnet's

(19:08):
the nice, fine one. He's one of who I think
that that the Seahawks offense may run through this year.
I think that, you know, he's been the guy for
a long time. He seems like he gets banged up
quite a bit, and I like the potential again the
p word of Charboney. I think that he may be
the guy now. And he's obviously younger, he's obviously got

(19:30):
less tread on the tire, and so again I don't
know fully if that's where they're gonna go, but I
think they have to be sort of a run first
ball club. I'm not a big gino Smith fan. I
don't think he's that great, and so I think the
running game and they're gonna lean heavily on, so I
think that that may be a guy again very late.
If you can sneak him in, then that may pay

(19:50):
off in the long run. Yeah, so there you go.
The first one is in the kpan Thor. We are
back with fantasy freaking football. So we'll say yeah next
week and let you know how we drafted
