Speaker 1 (00:00):
Uh, so next week, my daughter is turning sixteen. My god,
how it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
What the hell?

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Yeah, that's one of those weird milestone birthdays that you're
just like sixteen, Oh my god, anymore crazy. So yeah,
she's gonna be driving.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
It's oh my gosh, it's a nightmare.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
So much.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Yeah, it is a lot. And so I don't know
if I watched like too much MTV or what, but
I had these grand thoughts of, you know, my sweet sixteen, Yeah,
that you got to have like a big party and
it's going to be a big thing.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Rule come out.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I give anything. If I could afford job Rule, I
absolutely would do that.

Speaker 5 (00:45):
To remember when I saw him on being him, were
on the same flight on the last flight as it
was crazy, I walk on playing gy Rule sitting there
and I was like what And I was like looking around,
like is this.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Job Rule man the flight?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Right?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Yeah? Yeah, I love j'all. I don't know that my
sixteen year old even knows you joll No, she does
because I play it all the time. But yeah, I
had grand thoughts of like, okay, well, you know, I
guess we're gonna have a big party. And I'm kind
of dreading. Maybe I'm kind of dreading it a little bit,
to be honest with you, because girls this age are.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Oh, there's a lot of feelings in emotions.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
They're so annoying. I'm sorry, listen. Boys are always annoying,
but girls at this particular age, I don't know what
it is there. They drive me nuts, like the way
they talk. I don't know anyway, really, So I was
sort of dreading it because I figured it's probably gonna
be like, I don't know, like a pool party at

(01:44):
my house or something like that, and then a bunch
of sixteen year old girls run around bikinis. I don't
need that in my life. You know. It's little too
much for me to handle. So I didn't really I
had I wouldn't. Wasn't really sure what was the plan.
I didn't know, like, is this gonna be an expensive thing?
Are we gonna like rent out somewhere. It's the sixteenth birthday.
I thought it was a big deal. Yeah, Well, I

(02:05):
guess it's not really that big of a deal because
my daughter and like all of her friends are obviously
all turning sixteen sort of at the same time, and
they all are doing sort of the exact same thing.
Oh they are, and you are probably going to be
aware of this guy because your daughter just went to this. Okay,
they all want to have a beach party.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Oh yeah, my daughter was at a beach birthday party yesterday. No,
it was a fifteenth birthday.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
But well you're more advanced in layer than.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
County sixteen.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
But I'm just saying, like, for sixteen, if it is
a beach birthday party, this thing must be like because
I'm again have MTV thoughts like you, this thing's going
to be like crazy.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Well, my initial thought when I heard it was going
to be a beach party was, oh crap, am I
going to have to go down there on like a
Saturday morning and put the pop up up and get
near a fire pit. Fire pits are, but you know whatever,
get the prime and then just sit there until the

(03:10):
party starts.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
The guy with the cooler that guy, Yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Don't want to be that guy. But I'm not even
really a beach guy. But your dad, this is like
my nightmare. That's that's what It's a dad move, right,
I'm gonna have to be that guy.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I've seen it a million times for everybody.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
The streamers are flapping in the wind, and Dad is
there by himself, surrounded by empty chairs.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
My dad would probably make me go with him, and
then I'd have to sit there and he would go
do something else, would make check him, and then I
said by myself, and then I'd sit there and my
dad would go leave.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
And play, play in the ocean, in the sun. I
don't know, do something quick crying anyway, So that was
my initial thought. Oh God, this is not for me,
your duty? But is there sixteenth? All right? I guess
I have to do this. So did I have multiple

(04:04):
conversations trying to convince her of doing something else? Yes,
I have. I'm my beach party. You don't want to
do that.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
This is your siftees.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
You want it to be big. You want to do this,
you want to do that? Are you sure you don't
want to do this. I've I've gotten in there multiple
times and try to say, you know, maybe we should
try this, or you know what, who cares about the beach?
You have a pool. Why don't you have everybody to
come over for the pool. I'll grow up burgers like
whatever you want. I'll get you a taco truck, anything.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Money at the problem I'll do anything.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I don't want to have to sit there for eight
hours by myself in the sun. I don't want to
do that. And so she's she's dead set. Though. My
daughter is kind of a big follower, so if like
everybody else is doing something, she's going to do it.
And so all of her friends are having beach parties
for their birthdays, so that's what she wants.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
The pictures will be so esthetic, you don't even know.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
And so I can't get her off this beach party.
So it's a bleach bank bank blanket bingo thing. I guess,
I don't know, I don't know what's happening. That's that's
what she wants. So I was all right, it is
what it is. So then there's been more discussions between
Deborah and her about what this party is going to
look like and what it is. I'm thinking, like, am

(05:18):
I going to have to like then after everybody arrives,
leave and go pick up like pizzas and all these
This is.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
A parking b.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
I don't want it. I don't want it. So everywhere
now I'm getting more details on what this party is
actually going to be and what it actually is going
to look like, and I'm not going to go. What
what I decided? I choosing to boycott.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
This daughter sweet sixteen? That's what you're telling me.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yes, you can't.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Do it at the beach.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
No, what has ended up happening? It doesn't make any
sense to me?

Speaker 5 (05:59):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
So, so she is going to have her sixteenth birthday
not this Friday, the following Friday, Friday on a Friday.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Oh my god. The traffic Okay, I.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Don't even traffic isn't even the thought for me right now.
It's thit you're telling me I'm gonna get up at
three thirty in the morning work and then drive from
work to the beach. Are you out of your mind?

Speaker 4 (06:28):
On a Friday?

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Sky move? I go? And I went, wait, why are
you doing this on a Friday? There's no real reason.
She just wanted to do it on Friday, Summersday. I
feel like, whatever, they don't care. Yeah, jobs, and so
that she's planning on doing it on a Friday. I go, well,
if you do it on a Friday, I'm not coming.
I can't, I go.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
I mean physically, you can't.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
You out of your mind?

Speaker 2 (06:54):
I mean, yeah, I get it's very inconvenient you're gonna.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Be This isn't an inconvenience thing. This is a like
I've worked, and you know my schedule, and if you've
choosen to do it on a Friday, you're you're eliminating me.
I can't. I can't do it because you worked sky
We wake up at three thirty in the morning. I
go home and nap every single day, just like all
of us.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Oh, I know, and you would be miserable. You would
be like you'd be falling asleep. Well, I guess for me,
it's if she wants you there, I get yeah again,
because that's the other thing, like I may be fighting
for something that she may not even really want, you
know what I mean, Like, of course she loves you
and you know, watch you around. But again, we're talking

(07:37):
about sixteen year old girls at the beach.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
You know.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Well, i'd be there for like a courier service. Yeah whatever,
I'm not there to like hang out with him if
you do. Yeah, I mean.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, my daughter was bummed I couldn't go to the
birthday party yesterday, so you know what with her, Yeah,
she's like, that would be so cool if you could come.
And I'm like, oh, you think that sweetheart, And that's
sweet that you said that out loud.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
But I don't think your friends.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Like that going on there.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
We're very we're very close. But so for me, this
isn't even a question. If it's her birthday party, even
if it's a day to do.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Everything double, you do everything together, You do everything she
asks you to do, like there is no pushback. Yeah,
so yeah, obviously not like that.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
Let's say your husband worked, I know, wrap our minds
around that.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
He does have a lot of projects going. He does,
he has a ton of projects, and would you make
him go?

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Oh, she's yeah, of course he's there. I mean, I don't.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
I don't know what even if she doesn't want to,
she doesn't care.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Well, if I needed his help, if I needed the
courier service, then the courier service is activating.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
But it's your this is your choice. You could do
it on a weekend and I'll you know, I'll suck
it up and do it.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Get the spot, it's not gonna be happening.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
I'll go pick up the pizzas, I'll do all the
stuff I got to. You choose to do it on Friday,
you know Dad's schedule I'm out.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I'm out out.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I'm not drimming down to the beach on Friday, no
possible wall.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
I got some questions about this party.

Speaker 6 (09:06):
Is there going to be like, is there gonna be
other Does your wife have like a friends, like one
of your daughter's friends moms that's going to be there
with her, like hanging out?

Speaker 1 (09:15):
No clue, no clue.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
These kinds of things help like play into it for me.

Speaker 5 (09:19):
Any of your daughter's friends are best friends with their mom,
they're going to bring to their mom.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Definitely not. I've never heard of that before. I've really
never heard of that before.

Speaker 6 (09:28):
Because if this is a matter, if this is a
matter of your wife needing help, if your wife has
asked you personally she needs help, it's like food and setting.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Up, that's what your son's for. Yeah, well, and there's
like homeless guys and stuff, especially by the beach. Yeah,
what do you need? What do you need help with?

Speaker 6 (09:48):
If I was just by myself, there's a lot to
set up, Like you said, easy up.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Getting coolers from a car, like it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Do you have to have all that stuff on a Friday.
On a Friday, You're just going to the beach and
hanging out, but there's a.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Lot that you're to set up for a birthday party.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
There's not a food you got cupcakes, There's.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Probably we need like something to do too. Are we
doing Hannah tattoos? Are we decorating chors? Talking about were
making friendship bracelets?

Speaker 6 (10:13):
So if you're I have the activity the beach, it
is usually there's a little bit more involved with the
volleyball courts set up already.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
There you go, go play volleyball. That's great, but.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
There's more stuff. So if she's by yourself, then I
think you gotta go. Is there a photo backed If
your wife's by yourself, it doesn't have If there's another mom,
gotta go. If there's another mom going, I don't blame
you at all, but I think if she's got no
other help, I think you should go.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Yeah, I'm out bounce me and Emily.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Did meet your wife at the beach once and she
sometimes needs a little extra help because well she's a
night decided to park a mile away. Was like, did
happen everything because she thought she was closed?

Speaker 1 (10:56):
No, I blame Taylor. If you if you're choosing to
throw a birthday party at the beach on a Friday,
I'm out, you know, you know me, like, that's my nightmare.
So great, have at it. You want to do that,
that's great, good, good for you. But I'm not going
to be wow wow wow.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
I would be really mad.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
But deep inside, I know she probably doesn't care because
at this age it's all about friends.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Well honestly, it's all about.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Right there, no, no closet is not even anywhere in
the same neighborhood. Don't we don't see
