Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's about to help. Would you say, would you say
you agree? Or are you pissed? You're gonna hear now,
You're gonna hear now. Eddie's top ten list Top ten

(00:20):
All we ready. I can see one girl's ready. I
see one girl's ready. Me. Guys, We're just hours away
from the Padres postseason kicking off. It's for the faithful,
for the faithful, let's do this. Come on, go, come on, please, please, yes,

(00:41):
give it to me. What the hell? I hope? So man,
I hope so ben believers all year while you up
and down? But where when she missed that Dodger series chat?
Stuff to do? That was pretty crazy? Was ready somewhere

(01:03):
on the eve of the Padres postseason about to get begin.
I've been a Padres fan since I've been in San Diego. So,
I mean, it's been thirty years since I've been to
pad listen. Been through some tough times, guys, remember that
I do. I was there. I was not happy about it,
but I was there. I was there Game four. Wow,

(01:25):
that's cool. That was awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Of course I know you were there. But it's so
funny when you talk to people because everyone you've I've
ever read. San Diego always tells me they were there.
I'm like, how is the whole county there?

Speaker 1 (01:35):
And we were all there? We were all there in
it was great. It's insane. It was everyone was there
at that game. I wasn't. Oh. I did a lot
of games that season, A jack, of course you did.
I did less. You had stuff going on. I was like, twelve,
can we keep this positive? Oh yeah, that's right. So
I've seen the good times. I've seen a lot of

(01:56):
bad times.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
It was probably from what own there's been a several
there's been several stretches of bad time store.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
So, you know, it is nice to now have a
team where the standard is the postseason. Now for the
last six years gone to the postseason, it's been awesome
to see and so it's very exciting. And so I
have had different players that over the years I've liked
a lot, And so I decided, you know, as we're
getting ready for this postseason game, to put together my

(02:28):
top ten favorite Padres players of all time. My favorite Okay,
I'm not saying these are the greatest of all time.
These are my favorite. So that leads me to a question,
So are these only players that you've seen play in
your day or are you taking into account history as well?
Skuy with a shockingly good question. I was not expecting

(02:50):
that if I didn't see you play, I don't feel
like you could be in one of my favorite really, Like,
would you put Mickey Mantle in your favorite Yankees of
all time? It's hard because you didn't see him play,
get the significance of him. Yeah, and if I was
putting together the greatest of all times?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Absolutely, But then again, though, I would put Lawrence Taylor
in my favorite players of all time just because I
watched his highlights so much. You never saw him play,
not really that I was like four.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
So yeah, So Randy Jones, who a personal friend of mine, oh,
actually partied at his house once, Steve Garvey, Dave Winfield, Like,
I didn't see these guys play as a padre, so
you know they wouldn't make my list. Also, not a
lot of guys from the Lean years. So the Nick Hunley's,

(03:43):
the Khalil Greens, Jed Jerco's of the world probably not
gonna make the list. I thought about those names, and
then the guys who are the you would play for
a cup of coffee like a season I would love
to put Ricky Henderson is one of my favorite baseball
players of all time. He was here for a couple
of coffee. Mike Piazza not going to be the greatest

(04:05):
padre of all time post anyone, post prime. Yeah, Greg
Maddox another one, Yeah he was. He was fun to
watch as a padre, you know, But he's not a padre.
He's a brave Piazza is a met or Dodger. I
don't know. But either way, those guys not making the
top time. No, I agree, So here we go. These

(04:25):
are my favorite padres of all time. Coming in a
number ten. The kid squeaks in Jackson Merrill comes in
as number ten. I love watching this kid play. He
is so fun. It's been two seasons and this is

(04:47):
this hasn't been as good as we hoped most of
the he turned it around banged up, you know. I
don't blame him. I think he's been banged up, but
he's he's come back around when it counts, and so
I'm praying he has a big series, obviously against the Cubs.
But kid is fun to watch. Yeah, And I just
I like him. I like that he's gonna be a
Padre for a long time, and and he's embraced San Diego.

(05:08):
I just I really like the kid. I love that
you put him in there. He's in the well listen,
you know, I mean you got you gotta earn it
two years you're not normally there, but I mean kids
squeaked in. Look at that kid. You just see joy
on his face for being there. Yeah. Really, Now, if
I if I said number nine was like Gavin Sheets,

(05:31):
now you know I'm a little recency biased. It's not
It's not that it's not for me. Wait a minute.
If he has a big series, he's in here. I'll
give you at least I don't care. He like, you
have big series, you're gonna make it in my list.
At least, I don't care. I don't give a rip.
All right, coming in Number nine is a guy that

(05:52):
was a little bit of a victim of the lean years.
He was kind of the Padres best player for a while.
He had an up and down career, but I always
really enjoyed him. I am talking about Will Myers. Oh wow, Yeah,
I liked Will Myers. You know what I mean. Again,
he was not part of great Padres teams. The little
kid excitement. Oh wow, come on, well listen, like he's

(06:21):
one of my favorite players, you know, and and he
was like the only guy we have for a little while.
And so because of that during the lean years, Will
was was my guy and I liked Will And so
he squeaks in there again at number nine. Wow. And
I think he did a lot for the community to
while he was here. He was involved a lot. Does
that matter to your list of community all coming as

(06:47):
my number eight favorite padre of all time? Yeah? Why
are we sitting back? What's going on? It's it's one
that's complicated, and it's one that I had relationship. It
really is, and you'll understand when I say who it is.
It's one that we all as a San Diego community
wanted and wanted more from, but it just didn't happen.

(07:13):
But at the time, massive fan, I am referring to
Adrian Gonzalez, hometown guy, East Lake guy. The kid came home.
He's a Padre. This should have been a marriage made
in heaven, and he was. He was great for the
Padres when he was here, but it didn't last as

(07:34):
long as it should have. And then he went to
the Dodgers, which and he sort of. I mean, if
you google Adrian Gonzalez, the picture of him as a
Dodger would more probably come up, which bothers me to
no end. And he's no, he's a San Diego bro,

(07:55):
and so it really bothers me. And I like, so
when I think of Adrian Gonzalez, it's not that overwhelming
love that I want to have for the guy because
it's the hometown kid and he played great for here,
but he's a Dodger and it just works. So for
that reason, he's in there, but only at eight damn,

(08:18):
which this guy should have been. Now coming in at
number seven is a real hometown hero. Of course, I'm
referring to No, No, Joe, Joe musk Rove, Joe Musco,
Joe Muscove coming in here at number seven. Love.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
It's a bummer that he's not pitching, man, he's not
a part of it. I mean, he's a part of
the team, and he's in the dugout, which is helping
with the pitching stuff and the coaching. But it's a
bummer that he's not playing.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Right, I agree, I agree, But it was it's great
seeing Joe pitch that series against the Mets. When he
had the sweaty years and he was giving him the
fun Google. You know, I freaking loved it. Man. You
know it's Joe is awesome. He's a He's a Sequan
brother like me, and so.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
I always whenever I see his commercial, I look for you,
Eddie and we're hanging out with his wife.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Why is he not with Eddie? I agree, pulls at
the command, I agree with me, and Joe would be awesome. Yeah,
you got it. Remember when Herd and Robert drove up
to Alpine to go to his parents coffee. Yes, that
was like her, we did.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
She's always been padre fan. That was like when her
over the top really had really.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Good Remember when I met him on the one time
at dinner and couldn't be nice. Joe's a great deer,
local kid, gone good. Coming in at number seven, coming
in as my number six favorite padre of all time.
I love this guy and I love that he now
post career is all about the Padres. You see him

(09:53):
on the MLB network. Jake Peeve is my number six
favorite padre of all time. Maybe the best padre picture
certain picture. I mean, obviously Randy Jones is up there.
But but Peev was our guy for a really long time. Again,
I wish he could have been a padre for life.

(10:14):
Just didn't work out. And again this was different time.
Not the greatest padre teams the White I don't know.
He was all over the place. But yeah, it was
a bummer. But I mean, I love PV. Peev's awesome dude.
So Pev getting in there at number six. All right,
we're in top five territory here, top five territory. Here,
my favorite padres of all time coming in at number five.

(10:35):
This may be surprising to some old Manny Manny Machado
just coming in and number five. Wow, Now, this is
no slight against Manny. Manny may end up being probably
the second greatest padre of all time. You're not gonna
pass it. But he made me so. He may be
statue worthy if he gets a title. If he gets

(10:58):
a title, captain, give that, yeah, statue.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
I feel like I just feel like Tony Gwynn did
so much more for the community.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Well, Tony is San Diego exactly, Manny. I'd like this,
you know, Manny is getting in there, like being part
owner of the San Diego see things like that. I'd
like to see Manny a little bit more in San Diego.
But I love the guy. Hey, man, he's he's the
guy out there. It is a little tricky with Manny

(11:27):
because sometimes you got to defend him of like, oh yeah,
man he doesn't hustle many Many's Manny all they say.
I get all that. It doesn't mean I don't like
him any less. The four guys in front of him,
I just like more. But Manny, please do everything you
can to get us the title walk. Yeah, I agree,
and he's good. He's going in the Hall of Fame.

(11:48):
I mean, guys, unbelievable. So Manny coming in at number five, him,
Who's Who's full ready? Who's full ready? Well, let's get
Hell's bells ready because we're coming into close the game
out wait till you hear the top three. Trevor Hoffman
Haffey another guy who I absolutely love, been on the

(12:10):
show multiple times. Couldn't be nicer in the community, dude,
all about San Diego, big on the community community.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I was at Trevor Hoffins five hundred, saved my first
ever Patrey game really in two thousand and six. Didn't
know which does A seven, didn't know that it was
his five hundred saved and they're playing the Dodgers, and
I was just being an a hole because I was
a typical I just came from New York and I
was cheering when the Dodgers got a hit, thinking that
he was going to blow the safe.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
And then he gets to save.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Everyone's going crazy and the five hundred sign pops up,
and I'm like, oh, that's.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
One of the worst stories I've ever liked anymore talk
about I am not I support the Padres, but you're
you're a troll for no reason or a Yankee fan.
So what is that Yankees were playing? What are you
talking about?

Speaker 2 (12:59):
I don't but but here's if I was at a
game for the Padres. Now I root for the Padres.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Okay, So let's say you're at I don't know, a
Brewers game and there's a historical moment you're gonna show
the opposite way. That's a troll.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
That's a trolltrol the Padres anymore. I would troll the Brewers'.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Get him like a skateboard, right to his face. These
are my top ten favorite Padres of all time. My
number three was my favorite player for a really long time.
I love this guy got to meet him at spring
training once. Great dude comes with again. A little bit

(13:42):
complicated history here, but my number three favorite padre of
all time is Cammy ken Kem and I love Cammy.
He was my guy, like even during you know, obviously
we had Tony Gwynn, we had all these great players,
but Cammy was my guy. I saw myself as Cami
a little bit. Really, yeah, I felt like it. I

(14:04):
played third base a little bit. Yeah, I did steroids
a little bit. Yeah. What the beard is in honor
of God rest the soul. I just I was. I
had my goatee forever because of Cammy, and I loved
Cammi and so he was just my guy. And then,
you know, unfortunately you get tarnished a little bit. His
MVP season gets tarnished and all that stuff, which sucks,

(14:27):
But does it make me diminish my love for Cammy.
I've always loved that dude, and so he is my
third favorite padre of all time. Got two left guys,
They got two left guys. My favorite padres of all
time coming in at number two may eventually be number
one again if we win a championship. Toddy Fernando Junior

(14:54):
my favorite player in baseball right now, my favorite player
in baseball. I love watching this guy play. He's really
made me love the team even more than I already did.
I just he has such swag out there. You could
say whatever you want about the guy, and I go,
there was a little bit of tarnishment on him as well.
I don't care. Like the guy is so fun to watch.

(15:15):
Putting him in the outfield. Who knew that was gonna
be such a crazy thing to see, you know, like
it was. He's incredible out there, Like normally you go outfielder, Okay,
you know he's kind of supposed to make those catches,
but those catches that he makes, it makes it like
a whole different dynamic and just everything he does has
swag to it. He's my favorite player right now in

(15:37):
all of baseball. So I love talking like I kind
of thought you were going to go nostalgia for the top. Well,
it's tough. You can't beat number one, please, because nobody
beats alcoholm Ford and nobody beats Tony Gwynn. When I'm
talking about my favorite padre is a ball tide. Who's
better nobody, Nobody's better than Tony Gwynn. And so great

(16:00):
Padre of all time. Mister Padre got to see most
of his career, got to meet him several times. Sweetheart
of a man. I love him. I met him once,
I met him. You met him.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
I met him at San Diego State and he couldn't
have been nice to.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Student, every community community in there.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
We'd love to see tatist in the community a little bit.
Took pictures with me, maybe take off my Yankee hat,
which was hysterical.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Yes, yeah, now I love you more now that's why
he's number one. That's why he's number one. Yeah. So
there you go as you get ready for the playoffs today, my.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
You did it, favorite Padre time Emily Emily approved, approved
big time.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I loved every minute. The bottom. There you go, that's
the bottom.
