Speaker 1 (00:00):
I gotta tell you, I'm a little worried about my girl,
Emily over here. I don't know how she's gonna handle this.
At some point this happens. I don't know if we're
at that spot. I know, I know, I know. When
you are a young boy, you are super connected to Mommy.

(00:27):
Mommy's your everything, right, They're like, you know, like your
mama's boy. Definitely true, definitely true. And then at some
point you hit an age and you go, Okay, you know,
cut the cord here, I'm going out on my own,
and Mom is no longer necessary that much. Listen, You're

(00:49):
always going to get the call, you know, You're always gonna,
you know, stop by, hopefully Mom does my laundry for me,
or whatever whatever the case may be that you want,
you know, a nice home cooked meal from Mom or
whatever it is. But you still connected with Oh God,
but that that connection isn't the same. And I don't

(01:10):
know if that's where we're at now with Emily and
her fifteen year old son. Yeah, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah, fifteen year old son high school or just started
high school.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
This is a really big deal.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Throwing it up many glasses doesn't even need glasses.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
He wears the blue light glasses. Wears jeans every day
to school and the heat wave.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
That's wild.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Okay, you said, but you you, but if you want
to wear jeans every day to.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
School, you get it. Hold on a minute. Jeans are
what like makes the man in high school in high school.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
In high school, he's walking around wearing jeans.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
This is in two thousand and one.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Dude, I got a new found respect for this gid,
I meant him. And then he wears the glasses New
Giants corpback Jackson Dart. Were's the glasses the same? They're
the same, like blue light last night, Jackson Dark both cool.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
I didn't see that. So, yeah, high school.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
And we're obviously in the beginning high school like everybody
else at the beginning of the school year, yep. And
so we're getting, you know, emails of different pieces of
information of events coming up this school. I really like
it because they have lots of fun different events. I
love different We've already been on campus like twice over
the summer for like little like like festivals where all
the clubs are on campus. So I'm really excited about

(02:39):
all of this.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
But also she acts like he's in elementary school.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
He's in high school.

Speaker 6 (02:44):
Or like I get a vibe like she's excited for herself,
Like look at.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
This club, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (02:50):
But you're not in high school.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
You're not you're not in high school, and like you
need you know, my kids have all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
Yeah, I think most schools have that opening mixer with
all the and they try and get you to join
the club.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
When you.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
You don't need to say that.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Okay, So all this stuff is happening beginning of this
school year.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
We have a first event that was in an email
that was sent there was an event coming up, a
couple events. The first event is what's happening tonight, which
is back to school Night? Have you guys ever heard
of this guy's school night?

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yeah, your school.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
It's not even called back to school night anymore. It's
called an open house and you go there and you
kind of check out where they're at. It's it is
back to school, but like, come on, man, Mexico. Back
to school nights for like kindergarten. I feel like right
now my daughter already had it. It was last week.
Oh did you go? Why the hell would I go
with you. It's high school. Yeah, well, what do you

(03:46):
need to go to that?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
For?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
What I mean, I'm gonna go check out her chem class, Like,
get out of here, Like, I'm not going to that now.
My wife is a dork. She she's a master. It's
like she's going to school. She will take notes, take notes.
She's an academic nerd, and so she loves going homework.

(04:09):
She would love that. Yeah, I love that. Yeah, so
she she loves going to that kind of stuff. And
I'm gonna go for it because I ain't going Padrea on.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Oh my Barnowe, my man Robert, exact exact opposite. He's
looking forward to he loves like I did.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
He's like a little kid.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
I wouldn't force him to go.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Although I am surprised. As a little kid you would
like school Usually you're kicking and screaming.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
That's a good point.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
So we got that he's the only adult that I
would guess would get the tention at an open house.
You know what I mean, Can you keep it down
or you're you're going to go to the principal's office.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah, I'm not wrong, You're not wrong enough. So we
got that exciting thing coming up tonight.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Wow. And then I don't know that it's exciting. It's not.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Like a passport. We have to go to each classroom
and you're stamp it off.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
I'm so out of TI is that at five to
seven thirty?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Two hours?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Oh my god?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I read struggles with his behavior and stuff.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
So I need to get like I have a one
on one with each teacher because like that helps to develop.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
A rapport with oh, like Forest Cup stuff.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
I mean, I don't think she's going to be doing
the thing.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
I'm not gonna do what I got to do, Eddie.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
So anyway, we got that going on tonight, okay. And
then in the email there was item number two. Second
event coming up that's happening next week, and that is
student Shadow Day.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Student Shadow Day.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
I didn't know what that really meant.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I mean, I kind of know what a shadow is,
something that follows you around, but in the description is
it shut up?

Speaker 6 (05:47):
In the description, Well, it's like when the sun is behind.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yeah, yeah, and then and then.

Speaker 6 (05:55):
Obvious and then if you try and run from it.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
It's that is it sometimes was like bigger and then
sometimes it's like smaller.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
I think that's the angle of the sun in the
direction you're standing.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Okay, yeah, so that's.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
What you want to know. No, you can try confused,
what is it again, shut out.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
That's not what this is about. Focused.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I didn't know. Okay, you guys, focus, tell me more
about the shadow.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
The shadow anyway, I mentioned student shadow day coming up,
and then it explains obviously you come to.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
School with your student the parent.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
The parent comes to school shot it because they always
have their always that's what I heard.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yeah, you can't get it.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
I'd be like every day, really.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
This one particular day, though, the shadow is with you
all the time.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
All day long.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
It's a half day of school, but the parent goes
with the kid from from the very first period until
the last period and they sit with them all day long,
through lunches, through breaks, through everything, and it's supposed to
be like a fun bonding experience obviously for parent and kid.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
I would never, ever, in a million freaking years, let
my mom or dad in ninth grade go to school
with me, Like in a million year. My dad worked
in the school, and like it was cool in a
sense where like I got like a whole pass. People
really liked my dad. He was still my dad, so

(07:28):
like I wouldn't want to be seen with him.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Well, especially when you're a freshman and you're just meeting
new people and you're like setting up your reputations.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Because if I was, because if all I would think
about was the older kids are going to make fun
of me if my parents are there, but they don't have.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
A cool mom like Emily. You know, he's like one
of the coolest chicks on the planet.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Right, is that a new student is the only kid boxy,
the only kids?

Speaker 1 (07:55):
What kids would le have their parents.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Would want that?

Speaker 1 (07:59):
That sounds like I have a friend who has a
kid in the same school that Emily's son goes to
and is this year a sophomore, so they last year
was a freshman, had mom come do the shadow day,
and then this year was told mom, no, thank you,
we're good. We don't I don't want to do that.

(08:19):
I feel like if.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
My kid wanted me to do with him, I would
have to talk him out of it.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I'd be like, dude, you nuts, like you're gonna get
made fun of.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
This isn't good for you, isn't good for the rep.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Now I'm a little concerned because Emily hasn't put in
like put in a time time request off or that,
because I don't know how we're going to do the
show without a girl.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
So see the email.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
You see that it says said one parent can go,
not both parents, to just choose one parent to go
or a guardian whoever takes care of.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
It would be too many shadows shadow.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
And so this gets brought up the other night when
we're eating dinner and we're bringing up shadow.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
It's like, this is crazy.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Well, no, we didn't react like that, Reid said. I said, so,
who's going to go? I mean, I'm gonna need to go.
I think it starts at eight thirty, so I think
I can leave work. I could leave work at eight.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Fifty there at the time, you absolutely cannot.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Well, it's said in the document that state like makes
you give time off to somebody for this.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
There's a whole like hold, there's a law.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
I guess this is the most millennial gen z thing
I've ever heard of. If you attendent of this high school,
I would cancel this immediately, like let your kids grow
up without without shadowing them.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
So we're just talking about it at dinner and I go, yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
So I probably will leave work at like eight eight
fifteen and I could be there by eight thirty, like
I'm looking forward to it. And that's when Reed stops
down and says, oh, I wanted dad to go.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
I want dad to do it, not you?

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Oh got punch?

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Oh no, no, no, no, seriously and do like a
slopped gasp. Of course you do.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
I mean, that's that's a little ridiculous, Like you have
a job in the morning, really, so don't you.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
He wasn't thinking about my job, care about my job?
He said, I don't. Yeah, I want dad to do it.
I don't really want you to do it. And I said, really,
you don't need to be that offended his mommy, what
your dad?

Speaker 1 (10:26):
I mean, that's a cool guy.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
He said, yeah, And he wouldn't really give me a
reason why.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
I want a reason why.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
This right here is probably the reason. I think. You know,
it's time to you know.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
He's allowed to love his dad too. I think also
dad's probably a lot more fun.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
Well cooler looking with all the tat he dresses.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Really he doesn't look it.

Speaker 5 (10:57):
And also too, it's time to cut the core with
mom me. I mean, but I'm crapped the bottle of
I'm cool. I'm the one that's around his friends the most.
When I'm like driving around it, she does flash them,
we know how.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Maybe that's why he's worried sky flash kids at school.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
There's something in the state law about that too. It's
in the email, like crap.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
I hope it goes well for them next week.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
So you're legitimately offended.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I'm legitimately offended, and I legitimately hope Robert does something out.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Stop. I hope he does.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Crazy who you really should have taken. You're mad because
he wants to bond with his dad.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
That that seems a little crazy.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
These are facts, thank you. I'm gonna try to change.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
His mind now and then, well I'm not giving you
the time off to show me that man the other
parent is going. So you're a Nolan void. It would
be a newsome thing.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
That's a
