Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, I gotta tell you, I have not seen Thor
this excited to talk to somebody since like Stone Cold
Steve Austin. Maybe that was a dream come true for you,
But this one is up there.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Man.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
You're freaking out right now a little bit. Wow, this
is crazy. Yes, we are all excited to talk to
our next guest. Who is one of the stars of
the show Shifting Gears on ABC, which season two premieres
next week on October First. Joining us right now is
Sean William Scott. How's it going, Sean?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Hey, how you guys?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
That's up, buddy, Hey, Sean. So, dude, Thor on our
show here is a massive fan. He he is a
massive fan of the American Pie series and so and
he loves all your movies and so when he heard
that you were coming on. I mean, honestly, he was
as giddy as a little girl.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I really am. Look look at him. He was freaking
out him here, Sean.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
That's awesome. They My mom called you guys to tell
you to say that right.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
No, no, this is true.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
I saw American Pie when I was thirteen, the first one,
and Stiffler obviously stole the movie. I always tell these guys,
I like the second one better because it's more of
a stiffler vehicle. They think I'm nuts, but I love it.
I love all the movies, Role Models, the Rundown, They're
all great.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
So do you have you heard that did American Pie
two better than the original?
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Like The Godfather? Yeah? Huh?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I you know, honestly, I'm so close to it, so
I couldn't. Yeah, I think I love all of the
would Passion would be talking to you guys? I was
for that movie, So I don't know. I personally liked
the American Wedding movie because, uh, my character just completely
it goes crazy. Yeah, so I think that I think
(01:52):
personally really fun to make. But that's awesome. I'm glad
you guys liked it.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Would Sean, would there ever be a possibility of another
Eric can ply a movie at this point in your
guys' lives?
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
I'm not sure where you would go.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Thanks, So yeah, yeah, I don't know. I mean, I gosh,
things have changed so much. I mean you think about
the first America Pie, like, oh wow, I was just
talking to somebody about it and there's a scene right
where everybody's like spying on Shannon Elizabeth. Yeah, you know,
and the spy cams. I'm like, dude, you can't do that.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
It's crazy. It is insane.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Change a little bit, slightly slightly, so talk to me
Sean about the show Shifting Gears. I mean, you got
obviously heavy hitters in this show, Tim Alan Katdennings, you obviously, uh,
talk talk to me about joining the show.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Oh my gosh, it's so fun. And we got Jenna
Elfman and Darryl Chill Mitchell. Yeah, I mean it was
just yeah, I'd never done it sitcom, and I had
no idea how much fun it was. And for me,
I have a five year old daughter, and I was like, man,
I don't want to be away from her, and you know,
when I'm working and stuff like that. And I was
working on the Righteous Gemstones and this thing came around,
(03:06):
and my friends on Gemstones were like, you gotta do it.
It's like, you know, shoots in La It's the best
schedule ever. And then you know, man, they were right,
and they just I had no idea how much fun
it is. You have to do it in front of
a live audience, you know, and you know, obviously working
with that you know Tim Allen, who's a legend, you know.
So it's it's been some of the most fun that
(03:28):
I've ever had.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
That's great.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
And I gotta imagine over the years, I mean, you're
obviously a very big name. Has there been pitches to
have your own sitcom? Like you as the main guy?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I think that I was so like focused on movies
that I just I just wasn't open to it. And
so I think I probably told my agent over the years,
I'm like, I don't know, I do this, but I
had no idea that, like I said, like how much
fun it is, you know, and it's like it's challenging
in such a different way, but not not that I
was aware of. But this is perfect, I mean, just
(04:03):
to you know, be a part of such a great
ensemble and.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, that's awesome. That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Man? Does it?
Speaker 4 (04:09):
And let me ask you a question here, does it
bother you that at this point in your life when
you're walking around people will probably still yell stiffler? Does
that bother you at all? Because it made you so
famous and you have other movies like Role Models is phenomenal.
The Rundown with the Rock is still one of my
favorite rock movies with you like he has he hasn't
topped it, so does it. But but people will always say, oh, Stiffler,
(04:33):
does that bother you?
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Not at all? No, I mean I think in the
beginning of my career, I was, you know, I was like,
you know, really excited to do dramatic work.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, you know, I'm more than Stiffler.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah, was like, after you know, four America find movies,
I'm like, I obviously fully embraced it. Yeah, but it
was funny last night after we finished, uh, the last episode,
I went to door and I just turned around the corner,
just a grocery store, and this guy's.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Like, Stiffler, what's up man?
Speaker 2 (05:11):
So yeah, it doesn't bother me at all. I mean
I would have a career if it wasn't for that character.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, it is.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
You do hear actors, they can go one way or
the other. They can either go listen, I'm known for
other things too, don't just but other people have embraced
it and go, you know what, like listen, I am
where I am because of that character. And if that's
what you love, great, then obviously you made an impact
on people.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, I mean I love movies, so you know, it's
the reason why I became an actor. And the fact
that I got to even be in that first American Pie.
You know, it was like winning the lottery. So yeah,
you're absolutely right. I mean, just to get that chance
and then it's a movie that people like and a
character that people remembered. You know, I I it doesn't
bother me at all.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yeah, absolutely really bless you know, Doorra has mentioned all
these movies that you've been in. What what was the
experience like working with The Rock back then?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Oh? It was unbelievable. I mean, like if I was
just telling Kat Dennings last night and we're shooting, We're
I was telling her about this scene we were shooting
in the in the jungle and I had my hand
in the scene. My hands were time on my back
and the Rock's character pulls on a knife and he
cuts the ropes and when he did it, I just
(06:26):
I heard this and I was like ah, and he
he looked at and I looked down on my arm
and completely sliced open. It was like a super sharp knife.
Oh no, And and everybody was in shock. And I
look at at Duayne and he goes slice them. He
closes the knife and he walks away. I'm like, that's
all you got to say? He was like. And I
(06:46):
was also like, Hi, what about a prop knife?
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Do we need that?
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Wow? Finished the we finished the movie. He gave me
this is the knife, and he had it framed and
and it engraved on it said slice him. Wow.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Wow, that is wild, super wild.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Again, you would expect something like that had to happen
from I don't know, Ashton Coocher when dude wears my car.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
But but yeah, but the rock, I mean that that
that would be.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
A little the wrestler really at that point, Yeah, he's
still like this is normal, or maybe you thought it
was a fake nice Yeah, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Well he was just so cool about it though too.
And I was just like, you know, I would have
I would have freaked out if I yeah for sure
walked away like such a bad ass. I mean also
with him Christopher walking, I mean, the whole thing was
just incredible. That's so cool now, Sean, something that's just
sticking with me.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
I can't move past it.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
The fact that you're on set with Tim Allen Kat
Dennings and then you just run to like Vaughn's or
Whole Foods.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Do you normally do the grocery shopping.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
For your family?
Speaker 3 (07:54):
He was Ralph, by the way, shut up, okay.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
No, I yeah, one of my favorite things is to go,
uh grocery shopping with my daughter. We just it's super fun.
But yeah, this was a late night run. I think
I actually went.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
To get mayonnaise, okay, little male.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I literally went to the store after after work, was like,
I'm just gonna go get some mayonnaise. And I mean
it was such a sad grocery store shop, right, some
of the people look at him, you like, wow, just
mayl buddy, Sometimes you need it.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Yeah, no, I you know, I love mail. Get it Sean. Listen.
Awesome catching up with you, man. I can't wait to
see Shifting Gears next week. ABC. Definitely gonna check it out, Sean.
Great calling, Great talking to you, man, and thanks for
calling in this morning.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
All right, buddy, thank you so much. That a great
day you too. There you go.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Couldn't have been nicest guy, couldn't have been nicer, greatest guy,
super great, greatest guy ever.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Wow hear it up? Yea, wow, that was that was
all time
