Speaker 1 (00:00):
So last week was Sky's birthday, and we have heard
over the years birthday gifts in her household or didn't
miss actually any gifts, you know when it comes to
Christmas birthdays, those kind of things. You know, they're kind
of all over the place.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yeah, we got through phases, We got through seasons.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Yeah, will there's occasions you guys just completely skip.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yes, sometimes we'll decide we're going to skip this and
we'll just you know, have a lovely meal together. There
was a phase where he was going to this boutique
where I didn't care for anything in there and nothing
actually fit me, but he would keep buying me things
from there.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
But you never really spoke up.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Well, you would think when the things just hang for years,
the tags on them, that.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
You would think he has a human being. You would
just say, oh, those are my favorite things.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yeah, just like, maybe don't say thing that you're okay,
let's move forward next to you're going, hey, you know,
maybe give him a hint in the opposite direction of
the boutique. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
I think it was finally year three of these gifts
that he was like, why would I ever see you
in that thing? And I finally said, oh, it's just weird.
Everything from that boutique seems to fit on and I
don't feel comfortable in it.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
And then and then you got the hint.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
And then yes, finally got the hint and moved on
to other other things.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yes. Yeah, So it's always been questionable what these gifts
are and if they even get gifts, and yeah, there's
years that Sky was like, all right, well, I guess
no gifts this year. Things like that. So these things happen.
You guys aren't the biggest when it comes to presenting
gifts and things like that. No, you know, it is
what it is. Yeah, well this year we've gone to
(01:33):
a new level and Sky is very confused over one
of the gifts she received for her birthday.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah. I didn't even process it. It like took me
a full like five days till I finally figured out
what the hell was going on. So, yeah, my birthday
was on Wednesday, and you know, it was great. There
were gifts. I was so thrilled. There was an orchid
plant and beautiful cards. And the plan was is that
we were going to go to uh after my daughter
(02:02):
got home from school, we were going to go to
ut See Mall. We were going to do a little
shopping maybe the three of you, yes.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
And your daughter, the three of them. Sorry, he doesn't
usually it's very unclear whether he's going.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
To be there or not.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah, no, he's he's normally never there. You're correct on
our mall trips. But because it was my birthday, that
was different. Yeah. It wasn't just shopping. It was like, oh,
we're going to shop for like an hour, maybe find
a little something special for the birthday girl. And uh
that's what was in my head. And then wor'll go
have dinner at this I know, but I'm sorry. You know,
(02:37):
I get like kind of kid like excited for my birthday.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
I get it, I get it.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
We know. It's really weird portal on strange. Okay, So
he's doing the holding yourself and shaking back.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
And there was a live dand singing me happy birthday.
It really meant a lot.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Yeah, but that's a really weird You understand that, right
If you if you saw no person holding yourself, holding
themselves is shaking back fourth, you'd be like, the hell.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Somebody in the moment, what happened to?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Uh? So before we go out to the mall, my
daughter's like, oh, let you know, you want to do
your presence before we go to the mall. I'm just
like sure, great. So I open up all the presents
and you know, the really nice, really nice stuff that
they got me. And then when I opened the Hobby's card,
I noticed, well.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
It wasn't all really nice stuff. It was a pair
of ugboots that were the wrong I'm sorry to point
that out. We talked about on the show last week.
They were ugoos, they were the low ones, and you
wanted the meeting ones.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah, that's true. Wei there was yeah again going back
to the not really getting details. Yeah, he got the
low ones. Didn't want those, But that's okay. I guess
the thought that counts. That's where I was at at
the moment. But when I opened his card, I noticed
my daughter kind of shoots him a look and then
you know, he kind of like waves her off, and
(03:54):
I'm like, what the heck.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Was that about?
Speaker 2 (03:56):
And I read his card, which was one sentence, which
you know is expected, and that is when he says, oh, yeah,
and I want to let you know when we go
to the mall, I got you something that was not
included in your gift. I got you a gift card
to this new store, which I really like. It's called
(04:18):
Free People, but it's like kind of one of these
like bougie stores. It's like it's like high end hippie clothes,
you know what I mean, Like you'll find a patchwork skirt,
but it'll cost like one hundred and twenty bucks, you know.
So it's one of those stores. And I never treat
myself to close close as you guys know, we know,
clothes aren't really my thing. But I really like this store.
(04:39):
So he's like, I know you probably wouldn't buy yourself stuff.
So I am, I got you this gift card. Great.
And then I'm like, okay, well should we should we
grab it before we go? And he goes, oh, it's virtual,
and I go, well should we print it out? He's like, no, no,
it's fine, I'll take care of it. And so I'm like, oh,
(05:00):
you'll you'll pull it up on your phone and he's like,
I got it. And I'm like, okay, that's weird because
normally you don't got anything, so like normally got to
piring it out, put it in my purse, double check it.
But okay, okay, mister.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Tech savvy normally you got to do it. Yes, exactly,
thank you. Same in my house.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
So Robert was saying this, I'd be like, oh yeah,
hell going on, use your phone?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Use your phone? Yeah, I don't think.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
So I'm like, okay, cool, sounds good. So we go
to the mall, shop shop around. Unfortunately, don't fight anything people, no,
because I really am a big fan shocker of their
ath leisure line. They're more like pajama line and like
yoga pant line. And so the lady at UTC says, oh,
(05:47):
they just opened an entire free People movement, which is
that line store at Fashion Valley. They have like tons
of stuff, and so I'm like, okay, cool, Well, you know,
maybe like next weekend, I'll take my gift card treat
myself to my little birthday gift. So that comes on
this past Sunday and I'm like, okay, great, we're gonna
(06:07):
go me and my daughter, now Emily. Of course it's
not my birthday, so the husband is no longer accompanying
us to the mall. And so Sunday comes and I'm like, okay,
we're gonna go to the mall. And so I go
to the husband and I go, hey, we're gonna go
to the mall check out that Free People Movement store.
Can I get the gift card? And he's like, oh, yeah,
it's virtual, and I'm like, yeah, can you could just
(06:29):
like forward it to me if you don't want to
print it out and like whatever, I'll just tap out yeah,
I'll just have it on my email like whatever. And
he goes, oh, by virtual, I meant verbal, what do
you mean verbal? He goes, well, like, I told you
(06:49):
I got you a gift card, but I was just
planning on using my credit card when we went to
the store.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Wait, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Still like confused face. I'm like, so you're telling me
you never actually purchased a gift card and he's like, well, no,
I intended to but didn't get around to it. So
he was just going to get he's going to use
his credit card at the store, but was playing it
off like he got me a gift card. So he
(07:19):
told me when I went to Fashion Valley to treat
myself to whatever I wanted at the store.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
That is different different, yeah, because I mean he's just
basically saying, oh, buy whatever you want, it's on me.
But he doesn't work. So I mean like, I get
you guys are combined and whatever, but that's like odd
gets the gift card. It's totally it's at least it
(07:48):
takes that ethic that out right, but exactly as if
it's on me, as.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
If like like that doesn't make.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Sense, right, it doesn't work. And can can you get
credit for a gift if you just say go ahead
and buy whatever you want? Oh?
Speaker 4 (08:07):
You can't. And by the way, you know what I
just did. Went to free people dot com.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
It took me two seconds and hit gift card, you
buy the He could.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Have bought the gift card online. Oh yes, just what
he was kind of saying.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
That would have been in a tiny extra step.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Would you just not to do I could do it
right now?
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, And I felt bad because, you know, being a parent,
you like aren't supposed to talk crap about your partner
and from my child.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
You know what I mean, you should take notes on this.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
But we're walking out the door after I hear about
this verbal gift card, I'm I'm like, I'm mumbling to
the point where my daughter can hear me, Like, dude,
couldn't just take the two steps to buy it online?
It's that hard to log into the computer. It was
taking them two seconds. I'm like mumbling all this stuff
to myself. And so she finally told me how it
(08:55):
went down. That he asked her to go online and
buy it, but she had so much homework that she forgot.
So my Birthday morning, when she left the house, she said, hey, Dad,
I never got to buy it. He goes, oh, I'll
just I'll just hop online when mom's at work and
buy it. Guess he never got around to that step
and it turned into it.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
I don't understand.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
It turned into a verbal gift card, which.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
I you know you are a fan of the verbal
greeting card. Yes, yes, but that's okay, But the verbal
gift card's not okay.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Different different, really, Yes, a verbal greed like an actual
greeting card. We all know what happens. Either it goes
immediately in the trash or it gets displayed for like
a week and then goes in the trash. So the
verbal card, I feel like is effort because like you
have to come up with something to say, but the
verbal gift card doesn't exist and is complete BS.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
See Scott, It's it's difficult because Sky just said the
card goes in the trash immediately whatever. But then when
I get her a card, that's whatever. She she always
makes a statement, Well not for me, for other people
you give out, you give out crappy cards all the time.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
I don't give out crappy cards, used cards.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
I don't give out.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Charity card. Yeah, exactly, three cards, exactly, that are odd topic.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
You gave me your.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Card.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
They have birth, they may say on the back.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
This isn't about cards, I know.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
But my point is she just she's a very do
as I say, not as I do person to it.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
To an extent, I agree, but this is next level
like not trying anything. You can't just say to somebody,
oh yeah, here's a card that doesn't exist and buy
what you want.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Like why do that? Like why do that? He already
got her the ug boots stop there.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Well, if you want to go to the extra step.
You went to the store. Yeah, so you were at
the store. I know you didn't find anything, but you're there.
Buy the gift card there, you know, go like all right,
for the next time you go, here's the here's the
actual gift card. Yeah yeah, nothing but nothing happened. No,
so you really got nothing.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
And then also I just thought of this. He had
a whole week after her birthday until or not a week.
He had a couple of days after the birthday, because
they go, we went Sunday, Yes, your.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Birthday was Wednesday. Yeah, so we had all that time
to log on it.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
No, there's no shame in the game though, if you
just go, eh whatever, Yeah, yeah, you're you know, go ahead.
So so when you went to the store and he
said it's a verbal good one, did he just say
buy whatever you want? I don't understand, because he didn't
even at that point, he didn't give you the credit
card his credit card.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
No, So when we went to the store on my
actual birthday, I was assuming that if I had found something,
when we got to the register, he was going to
pull out a gift card like.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
It a god under said, when you and your daughter went,
is what I'm saying, Oh yeah, I just you just
bought something.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Right, Yeah, I just brought my purse with me and
we went to the mall.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
So did you buy anything from that store though?
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Okay, so that's the gift is it? Is that what
he's claiming? Oh yeah, I got you that.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Yeah, I would be the next level like you are
so cool, I would be hurt. Well, I would be
like you basically just flap.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
Not a victim blame, but I feel like, did you
say something to him that you weren't happy with this?
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Well, I gave him like the I was so confused.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
So well, I was so confused when it came out.
I actually looked at him and I go, wait, so
you're telling me you didn't actually get me again, and
he goes.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
It's a verbal and then did you say all that
really hurts my.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Feelings and that's not a thing.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
No.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
I just kind of gave a like, you know, hand
at your face and I walked it, turned and walked away,
walked away. Comment sense So figures out what out like
someone has to draw then diagram to figure out you know,
that's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
It happened.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah, hopefully that's a new trend you've created, that verble
gift card.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Verable gift card.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
I don't get it, Okay,
