Speaker 1 (00:00):
What timing. I mean, then we would be playing that
song and then that man sitting right here. I honestly
don't know. I honestly don't know the magic of radio. Yeah,
our good friend, it's like the bats the song and yeah,
the boys from switch Foot are hanging out with us

(00:22):
in studio because it's that time of year. Yes, the
bro am is going down this weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
You know it.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah, the switch with a bro am, which is I
think celebrating what your hundredth year million? What number are we?
You can legally drink, and you can vote. We can
do all those things. Not on the beach.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
You can't vote.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Yes, Okay, that's good to know. Moon live beach. You
guys don't at this point. I mean, it's such a staple.
It really has become a San Diego staple with you
guys and what you've created here. It's pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
What we've created. Ye like, it's not it's not the hand.
I feel like the city. You know, you guys have
been so supportive. There's so many incredible people that have
championed this, this cause the kids.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Really it's an amazing thing. So what I would like
to have happen is to have some nubes come out.
Somebody who's never been to a broad am before. Come
down and check it out. It's a free event. That's
one of the coolest things about it. I mean, obviously
it's free. I'll take that. Yeah, and that's very rare
these days.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
You know everything with the price is going up for everything.
It's a free event. Come down and check it out.
There's music, there's surfing, there's every there's everything. It's one
of the coolest things you could do.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
My favorite part of the Switchbook pro am was years
ago Sky interviewed you guys. We're still calling you guys
the bells of the ball and I'll never forget one
of the greatest things I've ever heard in my embarrassing even.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Called the Beast many times.

Speaker 6 (01:53):
Well, and it wasn't just you guys, embarrassing.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
We were talking about it.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
So let's talk about the incarnation of the bro am, Like,
what even kicked this thing off? What made you guys
twenty one years ago go we need to do this.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Yeah, So we're flying back from our first world tour.
We're flying from Australia home and we're talking about how
thankful we are for San Diego for everything that we
love about this town that has supported our music, you know,
and we thought, what if there was a way to
give back, and what were the things that kept us
out of trouble when we were kids, What can we

(02:32):
give to the next generation. We're thinking surfing and rock
and roll were those pillars that kind of kept us
out of trouble, something to do, And so we're like,
what if we could give that to the next generation
homeless and at risk kids. What if we could raise
some money throw a party for them on the beach.
And so we we hit up our high school friends

(02:53):
and we did just that. You know that's rended a
stage and through some jerseys together and surf contest and
a concert there on the beach. And we were dumb
enough to think that it was a good idea.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
The best ideas. Like nobody's going to show up for this, Like,
you know, years ago we started the p one Easter
egg hunt where it was an adult Easter egg hunt
literally in the back here, and like, I don't know,
ten people show.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
Up because it was mad because the kids get to
hunt for a but we don't.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Adult want And now we get thousands of people to
show up for this stupid event that we do every Easter.
But it's one of those dumb things you don't know
what's going to hit, and this obviously did.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Like the internet, some dumb guys like I got the
dumb idea.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
We can look stuff up. We needs an encyclopedia. I'm
telling you. It's great though. Now it has become such
a huge event, and you know, tell me a little
bit about what to expect if I've never been before, Like,
what can we see here?

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Yeah, well, there's a surf contest for kids in the
morning that our buddy Ramachata puts on, and it's all
about kids having the most fun. And then we have
kids from the Challenged Athlete Foundation come down and surfing.
Some of these kids are overcoming Yeah, just tremendous physical
challenges and favor event.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
Oh yeah, it's like emotional but also so impressive because
I'm too chicken to even go out there. But these guys,
you know, they're wheeling down right. Okay, we don't need
to different different kinds of challenges, but it's so it's
one of my favorite parts too, Like you nailed it.
It just feels so awesome to watch and be a

(04:34):
part of that event.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, I love that.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, it's cool. And then music.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Of our favorite bands. We've got Gable Price coming in.
We got people from in town to are some local.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Hero Buinnebago, Angel whites Plan.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Yeah that's cool, a little band called switch Foot. You
see what the day takes us.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
You know, whether gonna be really nice? Is it?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (05:01):
It looks great, Sonny?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
What the surfer for it?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Look?

Speaker 1 (05:09):
How's the barrels?

Speaker 6 (05:09):
Now?

Speaker 4 (05:10):
John?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Are surfing every day? Because you're looking, you get the
best barrels ever?

Speaker 6 (05:14):
Dude, bed in your house or you at the beach
this weekend, like.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Every day the beach at me this week I was
Father's Day. I hit it a little too hard. June Gloom.
We were just talking about it. It was like the sun's out.
What is this July June?

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I know? Yeah, thank god. Listen. The bro am, like
I said, is such a great event. You gotta go
check it out. Moonlight Beach right there, Insanita, get there early.
Parking is obviously a little crazy crazy.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Yeah, I got a hack for you, tell me, tell
me here we get the coaster that's hard or from
you know, the next stop up in Carl's bad.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
That does make sense.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Easy free parking, one stop, kids ride the coaster for free.
You're there.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Bam boom.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
And that's another thing when you said kids, Like some
people don't realize this is such a family friendly event,
like you can bring everybody, you can bring Grandma, you
can bring whoever.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Bring grandma because they're.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Maybe that's next year a grandma heat or something.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Why are you looking at me?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
That's okay. I just realized today, John, we have the
same birthday.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
She had to bring it up.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
I was so excited when I found out you guys.
I was so excited.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
So let's go.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Let's go, let's go October. Grandma you me Granma?

Speaker 1 (06:36):
God? And what was also cool? I should mention you
guys do raise a lot of money. Yeah, who are
we supporting?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Basically, we get to play Santa Claus to our favorite
organizations in San Diego that helped homeless and at risk kids.
We got feeding San Diego.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Now you guys help out Ringing the Children's Hospital, Children's Towns, Athletes,
Monarch School.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Yeah, that's it's so many great organizations right here in
our hometown.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
It's this Saturday starts off at seven am so get
down there, get some parking, and go hang out and
have a great time at the beach. I'm telling you
it's gonna be awesome. Thank you, guys. Can see it always.
Any new music coming on.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
We are working on a new album.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
That's hot.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I know I felt it.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
I felt really that signaling.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
That's great, good stuff. Thank you guys.
