Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Dan Kaplis and welcome to today's online podcast
edition of The Dan Caplis Show. Please be sure to
give us a five star rating if you'd be so kind,
and to subscribe, download, and listen to the show every
single day on your favorite podcast platform. Yeah, lots of
different ways to fight for all that, right, and we're
talking about the full spectrum today. We'll bring you back
(00:22):
to the meetium President Trump and Secretary of War Pete
Hexath had today with the General. Some fascinating sound and
issues out of that, but I want to go back live.
Tim called told us he's outside Planned Parenthood and Fort Collins,
and you know, there are so many great people who
go and peacefully pray and assemble outside these death stars,
(00:46):
these places where they kill children, and so I just
admire the heck out of the people who do that.
And Kim tells us he's up there, and then all
of a sudden, some protesters come by and their stick
is their top one steppen to be women who are topless,
and Tim, you were very very kind at my request
(01:06):
go over and ask them to talk with me, and
they refuse to use some harsh language in the process.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
What's the latest. Are they still there? Is it? Uh?
You know, I'm on the road on some lost stuff today.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
What's the temperature out there?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
There's one to ten. I'd say it's about any.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
I was asking, I was asking the climate, the temperature,
how warm or cold is? Oh it's about eighty okay, okay,
thank you for that. Okay, okay. So what's the latest?
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
They're they're trying to run off the people trying to
save the children. They're trying to do that, what through
loud music and being half naked?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
That is that their strategy and.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Yelling at the people that were there. They the people
that are for lifers are have cameras on you, like
a police cam. Yeah, because some time ago, uh, somebody
came over and stole a sign and the person had
to go get it back and okay pro life, I
(02:14):
don't know what happened.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
My goodness.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
So you're saying that that the pro lifers are wearing body.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Cam one is okay? Okay, yeah, okay, and uh okay.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
They had come up to the gentlemen, uh within the
foot or less, screaming at him, and he told him
that if they kept following him around, he would call
the police.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
And I think that's sexual harassment.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
You know, that's an interesting question. That is a very
interesting question. And I don't have the statute book in
front of me.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
I can look it up during your break.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
It wouldn't be sexual harassment in per se, because that
needs to be on the job. But and I don't
know that it would be any kind of sex crime
because A, I think it is legal up there. You're
in Fort Collins, right, if I'm not mistaken. I I
do think it's legal, you know, for for a woman
or a man to be topless.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
And for Collins.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
But they'd have to I think they'd have to be
doing something for the purpose of sexual gratification.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
I don't do.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
What's that, Tim, I got a plate number?
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Well, now are the are the pro lifers hanging in there? Tim?
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Yep, they're hanging in Oh good, good.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
So they're not being run off by the music or
the weirdness.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Good?
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yeah, good good.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Well.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
God love you man, God love you for doing what
you're doing. And blessed are the persecuted. Right, I mean,
I bet when you woke up this morning you weren't
expecting this kind of opposition.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
Well, I see a lot of it.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
I get around.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Okay, you see a lot of topless protesters.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
There, No, but shuts up in Colorado.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
I've seen a lot of stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Well it's seemed to be accelerating.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, yeah, No. The weirdness is there's no doubt.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
But hey man, thanks for hanging in there doing the
work of angels.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
All righty, okay, you take care. Thanks.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
That's aid Tim Our, roving reporter in Fort Collins, Wow,
Texters d A N five seven seven three nine. Dan
on the scene reporting from the topless abortion rally was riveting.
Please do more of it, Brian. We never we've never
really discussed this is time as a programming tool.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
But Dan, great show.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
I'm laughing my blank off on Ryan's show and yours
so flip and tired of the dem blanks.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
They're destroying themselves. I want to keep it up. Thank you. Dan.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
We haven't even talked about the government shutdown, have we?
I mean, right, Trump is he is so brilliant in
so many ways. I mean he's basically told him, you know,
bring it on, right, I'll fire half the workforce.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
So you think the Dems go through with this?
Speaker 7 (05:37):
Well, even it was Frank Luntz on CNN breaking it down,
you know, and he's not exactly a fervent Trump supporter,
that there really isn't any other way for the Democrats
to go through with this shutdown and avoid blame for it,
because they would be the ones instructing it. Of course,
with the fifty three Republicans in the Senate, they would
(05:57):
require seven Democrats to come along to pass through any
kind of continue your resolution or spending and if the
Democrats choose to filibuster or obstruct that, well that's on them.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
See.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
But aren't aren't these elected democrats because I separate that
from like the Democrat I'll sleep with tonight, you know,
and have for thirty one years now. But aren't these
elected Democrats in kind of an odd situation because they
really can't get any lower in the polls?
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Right?
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Like some polls now, aren't they in the high twenties,
low thirties? That may very well be their floor. So
when they're in a situation where they can't get any lower,
and then they're under all this pressure from you know,
the maniacal left, you know, to do all these crazy things,
I guess this is what you end up with, which
(06:47):
which is a gift, right, because long term, yeah, we
need the left exposing itself for what it really is.
In Colorado it's still you know, at the statewide level,
right with the polices and Hickenloopers, and they still get
away with with the Cohn you know that they're not
as crazy far left radical when they really are, they
just dress up differently. But nationally, yeah, they're just at
(07:11):
this point dropping the mask. So that that is good
for America long term, right, just to figure out what
the Dems have really become. More Texters here, Dan great
caller in Fort Collins, these protesters saying my body, my choice,
we know what blank.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Than some more blank blank.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Yeah, And that's the thing, right, And that's why I
really wish that one or two of those topless protesters
would have gotten on the phone with me, because then
we could have had the rational conversation about, well, it's
not really your body, right. And believe me, I understand,
I understand the reality that you have this this other
human located within a woman, right, and so yeah, and
(07:57):
I understand that can create some really really difficult situations
in so many different ways, you know, for some women
and women of all ages. But you can never get
away from the reality that we're talking about a separate,
distinct human. We're talking about a different body, you know.
It's it's and it's interesting that under American law, even
(08:21):
if we were talking about an individual's bodies, say, Ryan
Schulan went out there and Ryan, you know, and this
I'm not saying this is a direct comparison, but Ryan
wanted to go out there, and he wanted to sell
body parts. And Ryan said, my body, my choice. The
law would still put limits on that. And I'm sure
a lot of people would pay a lot of money
for your body parts, Ryan, don't get me wrong.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
And yeah, there would be a big market.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
It'd be a one time market, but it'd be a
big market. But yeah, but we're talking here. It's a
matter of science, not religion or philosophy. We're talking about
someone else's body, and that obviously is what brings us
back to How can we ever say that answered even
our toughest dilemmas is the intentional killing of innocent human life.
(09:05):
I don't think America has ever said that, you know,
in any other way, any other forum, And we can't
say that. I don't think we have a right to
say it and no matter how tough a circumstance it creates.
That's why I would really like to have had that conversation.
What do you think they would have said, Well, we'll
cover that on the other side. Three h three seOne
(09:27):
three eight two five five text d A N five
seven seven three nine.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
You're on the Dan Kapla Show and.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
Now back to the Dan Kaplas Show podcast.
Speaker 8 (09:36):
They're asking like, oh, well, this is like the revenge tour. Well,
what would the revenge before, Jessica? What would the revenge before?
No one really answers that question. All right, it's because
they arrested him. They arrested his campaign manager, his campaign advisor,
his lawyers, his national security advisor. They arrested his trade
(09:59):
advisor and put him in shackles. They arrested his CFO,
they arrested his valet, and not only that, they spied
on him stage the coup, impeached him twice, tried to
bankrupt his company, leaked his tax returns, and then couldn't
protect him.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
From a sniper. So what are you supposed to do?
They didn't think this was going to happen.
Speaker 9 (10:21):
They're sting, which is why Biden gave preemptive pardons because
he knew.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Me for a vengeful touch.
Speaker 8 (10:27):
But who didn't get who didn't get the pardon?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
He didn't get the partner?
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Well, you know, Jesse Is is just so good, right,
I mean, he just lays that out so well. And
so much of what Komy did and his cohorts was
was just evil. It was just flat evil and showed
such a disdain for this nation. But that doesn't mean
that doesn't mean this charge against Komy is going to stick,
(10:52):
right because you get plenty of people doing evil things
who are also intelligent and they're able to figure out
how to navigate around.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
You know, the criminal law.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
And so all I'm telling folks is, yeah, Comy an
awful off lactor who has done horrible things to this
nation and obviously to Donald Trump.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
But don't expect a conviction here. There may be one
in the end that the prosecution may have evidence not
available toss from the outside, but based on what is.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Available toss from the outside, you know, we should not
be sitting here right now expecting a conviction.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
All right, let's go back to the phone lines.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Text just exploding today might have something to do with
the call we got from Tim and Fort Collins talking
about topless protesters showing up outside Planned Parenthood, where Tim
and his cohorts, he tells us are praying to save babies,
as so many really fantastic people do. So we'll get
to those texts in a second. Patty calling us to
talk about what we ended the show with yesterday. There
(11:50):
was a discussion of some ballot measures that are being
circulated now. They need petitions support to get on the
ballot measures that the Catholic Team Colorado is supporting different
bishops in Colorado.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Patty, Welcome to the Dan Kaplis Show.
Speaker 10 (12:06):
Thanks Dan, good to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Well, thank to you as well last night.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Sorry, no please, Okay, I heard at.
Speaker 10 (12:16):
The end of the show last night that you were
going to look for somebody from the archdiocese to talk
about the.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
Ballot initiatives, and I have to be.
Speaker 10 (12:23):
The person that is working with the archdiocese on the
ballot initiative, so I thought I would call in.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Awesome, fantastic laid out for us.
Speaker 10 (12:32):
Yeah, okay. So Protect Hits Colorado is a homegrown organization
in Colorado. We tried last year to get protect gurl
Sports and parental rights on the ballot, and the titleboard
squeezed us in every way possible, as did the opposition,
and gave us only one hundred days to get the signatures,
(12:54):
which usually you get one hundred and eighty days. So
we decided to get the Happy Church came late to
the table only because of that, and we didn't have
enough time to activate the churches last summer. So this
year we were very very wise in doing it ahead
of time and started circulating the ballot initiatives to the
(13:15):
bishops early and the conference called Rough Catholic Conference, so
they were in support and have been in support and
have sent messages to all the parishes that they would
like them to have signature drives at the parishes, and
so we're rowing that out with all two hundred and
thirty nine parishes in Colorado. It's crazy, Yes, it's.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Crazy, but care that is fantastic.
Speaker 10 (13:40):
Yeah, Catholic Boat came in behind me and said, we'll
print what you need because we ran out of petitions
on September fifth, the day that we did the dissolution
for the whole state, we ran out of petitions. So
they printed and shipped petitions for us all over the
state and Alejandro Bermudez is helping us with putting together
(14:04):
Hispanic outreach and right as well. So it's amazing.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
It's awesome. He is awesome. That is so great.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Here, tell people about the ballot measures.
Speaker 10 (14:14):
Okay, so ballot number one. Our issue number one eight
is life without parole for any person caught selling or
buying children for sex, so basically human traffickers and none
of this parole stuff.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Which we were talking about earlier.
Speaker 10 (14:33):
Right. The second initiative is number one oh nine and
it is protectorial sports. But we tweaked it a little
bit from last year, and we are saying only biological
women and women's sports and only biological men and men's
sports and co ed can be whatever you want. Can't
be any argument that people can't do sports even if
(14:55):
they're going down a path of transitioning. Then the third
one is no irreversible sex change surgery for minors. And
that was so important because twenty nineteen, the state legislature
passed a bill that said a child of twelve years
(15:16):
old can direct their own mental health, and the whole
transgender issue is becoming mental health. So therefore a twelve
year old can stay to their parents. Too bad, I
want to do this, and then they become twenty one
years old and say I can no longer pro create,
I can have children. What did I do?
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Well?
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Second, thanks for what you're doing. Takes for landed out
so well. Where can people go?
Speaker 10 (15:44):
Oh, let me just say one thing. In twenty twenty
five they pass to bill saying the insurance companies have
to pay for it. So that's the reason why we
need to do. One can where people can go is
to protect kids. Colorado dot org and we have all
the inform out there. And if you're Catholic and you
want to go to the Colorado Catholic Conference and read
(16:05):
the bishop's letter that's available online as well.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Well, great job and I'm really glad you guys are
pursuing it, very very happy the church is stepping up
big like this and beautiful. So yeah, and I do
hope everybody listening gets involved and tries to help, and
I will as well. I assume on the website there's
a way to make a donation.
Speaker 10 (16:30):
Absolutely yes, absolutely so.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
But I assume boots on the ground is what you need. Most.
Speaker 10 (16:37):
Boots on the ground I've got. I have hundreds of
people signed up from the Catholic Church. We have over
a thousand people around the state carrying ballots or positions.
And you know what's what's amazing about this. It is
not a part. It's an issue. It's right, a human issue, right,
and it's not politics. And when the go ahead.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
No, you're right, Patty, it's a unifying issue. It's a
unifying issue. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Yeah, all of them are, all of them are.
Speaker 10 (17:10):
Crazy thing's happening in the world. This is one really
positive thing. And everyone that I meet is behind it.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Love it, love it. Well, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Let Ryan get your info, let's do regular segments and
just keep this in front of folks and give everybody
a chance.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
To get involved.
Speaker 10 (17:29):
All right, wonderful, All right, Patty, thank you.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Great job with that, great job with that.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
And as a as a Catholic, I'm so very happy
to see the church step up. It's part of this
tradition of really courageous leadership we've seen from Catholic bishops
in Colorado.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Three or three someone three eight, two, five five the
number we'll see.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
If we can check in with our groving reporter dealing
with the topless protesters up in Fort Collins.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
You're on the Dan Kapitlo Show.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
You're listening to the Dan Kaplis Show podcast.
Speaker 9 (18:07):
So, whether you're an airborne ranger or a chairborne ranger,
a brand new private or a four star general, you
need to meet the height and weight standards.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
And pass the PT test. And as the chairman said,
yes there is no PT test, but.
Speaker 9 (18:22):
Today, at my direction, every member of the Joint Force
at every rank is required to take a PT test
twice a year, as well as meet height and weight
requirements twice a year every year of service. Also today,
at my direction, every warrior across our Joint Force is
(18:42):
required to do PT every duty day. Should be common, says,
I mean most units do that already.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Wow, I would love to hear.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
We're blessed with obviously so many men and women in
the audience who've served.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Would love to get your reaction to us. Secretary of
War Pete Hagstath's laying down the new rules three h
three seven two five five text d an five seven
seven three nine. Really a wonderful variety on the show today.
We're hoping her back from Tim he called in earlier.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
He's part of a group and these people are real
heroes who peacefully pray outside these death stars se these
planned parenthood clinics where they're they're killing children, and they
pray to try to save the children, and they do
get some saves, and that's just well, that's just as
good as it gets, right, But today they're besieged by
counter and these guys, these are people praying, but they're
(19:34):
besieged by people showing up topless to apparently try to
run them off, playing loud music, channing my body, my choice.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Tim tried to get one on the phone to talk
to me.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
I'd ask for that privilege of having the conversation, and
the chanter's topless channers in this case had no interest
in that dialogue. And and so we'll we'll see if
Tim hits us back.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Do you hear this door? I'll keep ringing? Does you
order kind of livery No, Well I didn't order that.
I mean, I'm on the road.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
For some legal stuff and my wife's with me, but
she's out right now wandering around town while I do
the show. And so I'm speaking at this convention and
they I guess they ended up giving me the presidential
suite because like every five minutes, the doorbell rings. I
go to the doorbell and there are women standing out there,
and they've got these lanyards and badges and everything else.
(20:30):
And I'm like, but they said go to the presidential suite.
I'm guessing this hotel must have two presidential suites, and
I shouldn't be in one to begin with. But I
am just hoping that when Amy comes back there's not
a group of women at the door.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
But anyway, we'll see if we can get that straightened out.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Three oh three seven to one three eight two five
five text d A N five seven seven three nine
Texter Dan is a retired marine. It's about damn time.
The military is not a social experiment.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Amen to that.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
And that's not anti anybody, right, that's just about Hey,
if there's one organization on the face of the earth
that needs to have one clear mission and one top priority,
it's the US military, because the freedom of the whole
world depends on the US military, and it has for many, many,
many decades. Dan always appreciated how strong you are in life.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate that, and just wow,
(21:28):
the strongest I've ever seen was my mom. I consider
one of the founders of the movement and she has
just been a great role model.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Dan Pete Heexa's message long overdue.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
I served twenty two years in the Air Force, and
I often saw weight and fitness standards being ignored for
officers but not enlisted, despite the same regulations applicable to
all the real Ralph, So thank you, real Ralph. Appreciate
that and your service, Dan, my body my choice. Are
men now able to skip selective service or do they
still have to possibly sacrifice their body? Great point, Dan,
(22:03):
The on scene reporting from the topless abortion rally was
really riveting.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Please do more of that. And then boy.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Ryan text today absolutely and fuego, Dan Pete Xseth Trump
a man, great message, long overdue, needs to be implemented.
My son is in the Army and was glad to
hear it. Hegseth describe folks as fat and not acceptable.
He's been prohibited from calling peers fat even though they are.
He's frustrated with PC. So my guess is the Hegseth
(22:34):
message probably very well received, except for maybe a relative
handful of folks who spend too much time at first.
Maybe Dan, when it comes to our military, it's not
about looks. We don't need one hundred percent muscle meatheads.
We need intellectuals that know about war and more strategy.
Why would any parent want their son to go to
the military when our secretary of Defense just told them
(22:57):
their sergeant could put hands on them. We need a
secretary Defense that has some intellect as well, Right, I
don't understand that text at all.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
That that just seems so disjointed. And I would love though.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
We have so many people who've served in our audience,
and I would love to hear from folks on this.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
You know, to me, it would seem.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
You're putting your life on the line and you're commanding officers,
et cetera. Does the look matter to you or is
it more a matter of you know that their ability
to successfully command or other too intertwined?
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Right? I mean, is it a case where you don't.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Have confidence in somebody to successfully command in or outside
of combat if they're not fit themselves.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Would love your take on that text.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Or Dan Heseth is a drunk who had to be
carried out of work functions because he was too drunk.
I'd rather have a fat officer than a drunk I
don't believe any of that. I don't believe any of
that's been proven. I think Hexseth has been under con
an attack from the left, and the left lies. The
left lies when the truth would serve it better. But
if somebody has facts, bring it on. We don't censor here. Dan,
(24:10):
Maybe the Department of Work to use Polish Pritzker and
Chris Christy as their poster.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Don't be like this. That seems kind of mean, doesn't he.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
The potus will have to forego the more McDonald's for lunch. No,
I don't think that applies. I mean, this is a
perfect example right here. You have a guy in Trump
who's tougher than Trump really mentally, physically, etc. Who's tougher
than Trump, and he has proven his willingness to die
for this country.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
I mean, and I know we think.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
In terms of the assassination attempts, but think about when
he took out Solomony to protect our military serving in
Iraq and other places, to protect the people of America
from terrorism.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
He knew Trump knew he was putting.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
A target on his back and probably the backs of
family members when he orders solmoney to be taken out.
So he has shown real physical courage and so whatever
he wants to eat or drink.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
I am just fine with and I'm a fifty nine
year old veteran.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
I listened to Pete's entire speech, did my pushups, and
went back to Ryan. This brings us back to the
tablest plan, which is poorly named because even though it's
a great idea, you know, it's poorly named by me.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
But the plan is, why.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
In the world don't we change the rules and allow
as long as people meet all the physical requirements, the
mental requirements, the emotional requirements, which so many would Why
in the world don't we allow people, you know, to
serve now into their fifties and sixties if they meet.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
All those other requirements.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
You think of all the men and women who are
in top shape mentally, physically, emotionally, They have the benefit
of all these years of experience, and they would gladly serve.
They gladly serve in combat roles. I mean, this isn't
the nineteen forties anymore. Why do we live by these
old age restrictions?
Speaker 7 (26:02):
Well, I would think people that can serve at that age,
that meet all of those meritocracy based requirements should be
allowed to serve, much more so than people that might
be of a typical age that cannot meet those requirements,
who are being allowed in through the old DEI policies
that it appears are being wiped away by Pete Hegseth
and President Trump.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yeah, and obviously, and I would love to hear because
there are so many obviously great men women who are
volunteering and young men and women, And I'd love to
hear from them as well. Would they want that or
would they not want that? Would the attitude behave this
is our time or would they appreciate it? And when
it comes to and I hope, you know, we don't
(26:45):
end up in large scale combat. We have so many
men and women risking their lives every day around the
world for us, But I hope we don't end up
in another large scale combat type of war. But in
that situation, you have so many, so many people in there,
you know, late fouries, fifties, early sixties, who would be
capable and willing of going and fighting and dying rather
(27:07):
than than young people doing the dying. So why is
the Pentagon so opposed to that? And again, would love
to hear from the people who serve. Maybe I'm missing something,
but every single person listening right now, you can think
of I'm sure at least five examples in your life,
and probably a lot more people in their fifties and
early sixties, maybe some in their later sixties who are
(27:27):
in absolutely pristine condition that could meet the physical requirements.
Three or three seven one three eight two five five.
We'll get back to our exploding text. I haven't even
gotten to the bad bunny text yet. You're on the
Dankplas Show.
Speaker 5 (27:42):
And now back to the Dan Kapless Show podcast.
Speaker 7 (27:45):
Back there on the Dankplas Show. Lost the connection to Dan,
but we have not lost the connection to you. Five
seven seven three nine. That is the text line you
can dial at three zero three seven to one three
eight two five five as well, we head down to
Plubloa to talk to James. James, Welcome to the Dan
Campli Show.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Thank you very much for having me your thoughts this evening.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
Well, I wanted to comment on older folks in the military.
I am just turning fifty and I do some pretty
heavy heavy duty wrecking with a heavy duty rucksack for
training because I'm a first responder. And I'll tell you
though I recently did the wildland Firefighter Challenge, which is
(28:30):
three miles fifty pounds fifteen minute miles. And I'll tell you,
at this age, you just don't bounce back like you
do when you're young. I cannot keep up with the
younger guys on a consistent daily basis because the body
just doesn't heal us fast. James, Well, yeah today, I
(28:50):
can do it. Tomorrow and the next day maybe not.
Speaker 7 (28:54):
You know, I do know, because James, I just turned
fifty one. So you and I are right in that
same ballpark, and there you go what I've kind of
figured over these let's say.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
Last ten years.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
You know.
Speaker 7 (29:04):
So you and I are about the same exact age
as Derek Jeter and he retired I believe around age forty,
and something that he said stuck with me and it's
something that I felt and even more so now, which
it kind of goes back to the old Toby Keith line.
I'm not as good as they once was, but I'm
as good once as I ever was. So you and
I might have a good day right here and there,
like man, i feel like I'm thirty again, but then
(29:25):
that next day we don't feel that way. Like you said,
you don't bounce back, you recovery times longer, you get
aches and pains that you didn't see coming.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
You don't even know where they came from. Sometimes.
Speaker 7 (29:35):
So what you're saying, then, I guess is, although you
can do it, some of the time, you're not the
man you once were, let's say twenty years ago, or
that these younger men and women are in their twenties
and thirties. So what is your stance on serving in
that capacity going forward?
Speaker 6 (29:52):
Well, you know, honestly, I would do it if I could.
I wanted to be a medic, and circumstances in life
didn't present that didn't present that opportunity until the uh,
you know, a medic, a medic in the military, until
I was actually beyond the age that they would accept me.
And so you know, I can see the appeal. And
(30:16):
maybe it's a non combat role, maybe it's a uh,
maybe it's a maybe it's a limited deployment role. I
don't know, but I think I think that there should
be some allowances. But we also have to remember the
long term, the long term liabilities. Let's say let's say
somebody isn't KIA and combat, but they have significant damages
(30:38):
over the course in their bodies and if they're older,
they're not going to bounce back as well from that.
So just an idea.
Speaker 7 (30:45):
One more thing, James, I appreciate your input, your insight,
your perspective on this firsthand, talking about the age component
of this and why maybe a good idea in some
ways but maybe not in other ways. But what you
heard Secretary Hegsets say today about the standards that will
be employed going forward, the fitness standards, the heightened weight standards,
(31:06):
that maybe we're a little bit more flexible, shall we say,
under the Biden administration through DEI aims and goals and
trying to get a diverse military, and that diversity was
our strength meritocracy, we're going to set that aside because
we want to make sure we have an inclusive military.
What is your response to that notion and to what
Secretary Hexcess said today.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
Well, you know, I agree with that in spirit, and
it's been going on for a lot longer than the
Biden administration. I mean they even referenced it in the
Demi Moore movie Gi Jane, wherein there was there was
one standard for one group of people and there was
another standard for another group of people, and that was
twenty years ago. So I think this I think this
change is not is not is not recent. I think
(31:52):
this change has been going on for a long time,
and changes and fixing things is hard. Tightening up is
very difficult, and it's going to hurt. But in the
long run, tightening up is always better than loosening up.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
Very good perspective, James and Puebla.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
We appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (32:10):
Here on the Dan Kaplis show again five seven seven
three nine the number to text in. Here are some
of those comments from Secretary of War Pete Hegsef from
earlier today.
Speaker 9 (32:21):
This administration has done a great deal from day one
to remove the social justice, politically correct, and toxic ideological
garbage that had infected our department.
Speaker 5 (32:31):
To rip out the politics.
Speaker 9 (32:35):
No more identity months, dei offices, dudes in dresses, no
more climate change worship, no more division distraction or gender delusions,
no more debris. As I've said before and we'll say again,
we are done with that now.
Speaker 7 (32:56):
Was that the most artful language? I think we're past
the point of the artful language. It's driving the point
home that not only makes the most sense, but needs
to be said. And this from a Texter five seven
to seven three nine.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Dan, Hey, woe there.
Speaker 7 (33:09):
I said I did my pushups, but I didn't say
I was ready to re enlist. There's no way I
could keep up with my son and the Marines, or
even my daughter in the army. Of course, neither one
of them is fat. And let me see continuing here, Dan,
do you fear that with our already low military enrollment
rates this will hurt us? No, because the enrollment rates
(33:32):
are skyrocketing under Secretary Hegseth. And I think President Trump
has a lot to do with that, with reestablishing morale
in our armed services, with reestablishing the desire to serve
our country, to know that your president, your commander in chief,
has your back, and that your Secretary of Defense, Secretary
of War Pete Hegseth, was a warrior himself, who served
(33:52):
in the field, who served in combat, who served in
harm's way, and has your best interests at heart. So
I think it's a totally different ballgame, and that'll do
it for us from here for now. Dan, caplish signing
off a little bit early today, but we'll be back
with you again tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (34:06):
Appreciate you tuning in tonight.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
On the Dan Capless Show.
