Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm very pleased to welcome back to the show pastor
David Clifton of David Clifton Ministries. And we had David
on the show about a year ago for the same purpose,
the Thanksgiving outreach that he does, and I just want
to let listeners know about it because I think this
(00:21):
is a great thing and I think as we get
towards Thanksgiving, a lot of folks I think would like
to help others have a nicer Thanksgiving, and you don't
always know how to do it, and this is a
great way to do it. And David, you said that
last year, my listeners did show up and step up
for you, So I'm really glad to have you back.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Thank you Ross, And yes, your listeners were tremendous. They
responded financially, they responded as volunteers, they showed up on site.
And I'll tell you what, You've got a great influence
across the metal area and beyond in getting people involved,
and we're grateful for that, and we're grateful for all
(01:02):
the people that show up. We've also got some area
businesses that I would like to recognize, Colorado Realty, my
friend Scott Bayer in Chepert Defense, Sean Beard Looking Good restaurant,
Angela and Nico. They've been in the area for forty
seven years. We've got a lot of people that listen
to your show. They come, they cook turkeys, they bring dishes,
(01:26):
they get involved, and some of them work all day long.
So we thank you for those that are listening right now.
We're grateful for them.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
So what we're talking about here, folks, because we haven't
really explained it to you that well yet, is this
is the twenty ninth annual Thanksgiving Outreach, and this is
I want to make sure folks know, because you hear
all the time, Oh, we're doing this, and we're doing that.
This is big, this is legit. This helps thousands of families.
In fact, this is so legit that the city gives
(01:56):
them kind of the area by the City and County
building because they've been doing this so well for so long.
Tell us a little bit more about exactly what the
Thanksgiving Outreach is and does well.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
We do this on the second Saturday of November. We
hold a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless and the needy,
and actually we open it up for the entire community community.
We do it early so people can spend Thanksgiving Day
with their families, and this is an opportunity to get
involved with the community, to get involved with our ministry,
(02:31):
David Clifton Ministries and what we do. We started it
twenty nine years ago. There were seven people that showed
up the volunteer. Two hundred and fifty people showed up
for dinner and it's grown ever since. I would say
the biggest that we've had was twenty two thousand people
over one thousand volunteers. So it's just growing and growing
(02:53):
and growing. And it's an opportunity for neighbors and friends
and people no matter where they come from, whatever business
they're at, no matter what church or synagogue they're involved with.
We want to get everyone involved to feed and help
feed those that might not otherwise get a good, hot
Thanksgiving dinner. And we do this. We feed people all
(03:14):
throughout the week, every month, every week throughout the year,
and we've been around for over thirty something years. But
the Thanksgiving outreach itself, the dinners, started back in nineteen
ninety five, so this is our twenty ninth year and
we're just grateful that we've we've got three hundred turkeys
coming from We want to thank the Denver Rescue Mission
(03:36):
for that, and we look forward volunteers to come and
bring two large size dishes. That's where the food comes from.
So they bring it hot, they cook it at their homes,
they bring it on site. They bring paper plates, cups, silverware, desserts, ice, drinks.
They come to help set up in early in the morning.
(03:57):
The city has given us a Battocks Street in front
of Denver City Hall. And actually last year Denver, the
City of Denver, gave us what is called the Mayor's
Legacy Award for the first time ever, and they gave
us a five thousand dollars grant wow to help with expenses.
So we are grateful to everybody and everyone that comes
(04:20):
together to make this happen. And that's what it's all about.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
All right.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
So we're not giving folks a lot of advanced notice here.
It's a week from tomorrow and folks, you're talking. What
Pastor David Clifton is doing is helping, is feeding and
giving a little bit of joy during this Thanksgiving time
of year to thousands, you know, ten twenty thousand folks
who are not doing so great in life and could
(04:49):
really use a little company a nice meal and just
feeling like they are part of society again and it's
just a it's a wonderful thing. So, David, you mentioned
that folks can bring food, so to follow up questions
on that, if folks do want to contribute as far
as bringing food, where in one would they bring it?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
And then the other.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Question is how else can people help if they're you know.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Not really in a position to cook food and bring
it down.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Well. Number one, we have one more meeting which will
take place on Saturday, November second, and that'll be from
ten to twelve, So we'll cover all the details, where
to park, when to show up, what shift they can
come and get involved with. But if they're not able
to make that meeting, that meeting, by the way, is
(05:39):
at fifteen thirty three Glen Air Drive. That's our ministry location.
They're free to come to that and we'll give them
all the details they need. If they're not able to make,
If they come on November the ninth, anytime from eleven
thirty to latest five o'clock in the afternoon on November
the ninth to City Hall, all they have to do
(05:59):
is drive up to fourteenth Avenue. They can drop their
food off and we'll take it from them, we'll put
it on the table and we'll keep feeding people. If
they're not able to cook food or bring food, they
can give financially. They can do that through PayPal, they
can do that through our website. They could do that
by mail. And we've got all that information as well.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
And so let folks know what's what's the website.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
The website is the World for Jesus dot net. So
that's the World for Jesus dot net. Make sure that's
an ET at the end there so they can mail
a check. They could go through PayPal, peel box one
four oh three four oh Edgewater, Colorado, eight oh two
(06:46):
one four.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
So focus is all on the website. I know it's
a lot of information to take in just while you're listening,
but Pastor Clifton's website is the World for Jesus dot net.
All of this stuff is actually up on my website
at Rosscominski dot com.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
And I want to encourage you.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Donate a few bucks, donate some food, do whatever you
can and let's help our fellow Coloraden's who might be
down on their luck right now, might be you know,
might be hungry. Every day, and we can help because
of David Clifton's good work, we can literally help thousands
of people have at least one really nice day and
(07:28):
something like a great Thanksgiving. And so I love that
you do this, David, and I'm really grateful to be
able to help share the information about this for you.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Ross. We appreciate you, We appreciate your listeners. Would love
to have you come down take a look. You want
to do something on site, that would be great. You know,
it takes about twenty five thousand or more to pull
this off. You've got permits, you've got insurance, you've got
all kinds of things, parking eaters, things you have to
pay for to get it going. And I think we're
(08:01):
about halfway to our goals. We've got about twelve thousand
more to go or so, and we're looking for people
to pitch in or bring food, come and help out,
do whatever you can.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
All right, Well, look, either after I hang up with
you or after the show, I'm going to go on
the website and donate some money myself. Normally I would say, yeah,
I'm going to come down there over the weekend, but
I'm actually going to be out of state on that
weekend visiting my sister.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
But I'm going to donate some money as soon as
we're done talking.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
That's awesome. I appreciate that. And let me encourage your listeners. Listen.
If the boss or the radio show is going to
do this, you should do this too. Step up to
the plate.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, folks, if you go to the World for Jesus
dot net, which I have to say is a little
bit odd for me to say as a Jewish guy,
I don't usually talk like that, but the World for
Jesus dot net under outreach you can find Thanksgiving outreach
and read about the and over on the right side
you can donate and I am going to donate. I
encourage you to do the same. Pastor David Clifton, thank
(09:06):
you for what you do and thanks for being here.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Thank you, Ross. We appreciate you, and thank you for
praying for us. We love the Jewish people, by the way,
so thank you and thank you for everyone listening. God
bless you.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
And yeah, my people could use all your prayers right now.
So thanks David, I appreciate it.
