Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm Ross, Thanks for your time, Thanks for spending a
little time with me and Gina here on Ross on
the News with Gina Gondek.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
We are working on getting.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Nick on the show here, and uh yeah, I didn't
give I didn't give Shannon enough of enough of a
heads up.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
You good, you got his number? All right, Hopefully, hopefully
we'll have Nick here, Nick here in a second. What
are you looking at, Gina?
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Nothing, I was just gonna say I liked his hat
on the sidelines.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Oh he's all.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Nick always is a very very sharp griss just guy
and hat as well.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Let me mention, I'm.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Going through the text We got like one hundred and
fifty texts or something like that.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Unsurprisingly for I don't.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Know how many people are going for the Broncos tickets
and how many people were going for the free box
of brought Worth thanks to House of Smoke.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
That's a pretty fabulous thing, all right, So let's do this,
all right.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
So we've got the aforementioned snappy dresser and snappy hat
wear Nick Ferguson on the show. Nick, was a lot
of fun doing the parabolic microphones with you yesterday. What
is separate from the outcome of the game. How was
your parabolic microphone experience?
Speaker 3 (01:08):
It was awesome. I told you before the game it
was gonna be really hard for me because I've been
close to the game before, but never that close to
the game. And I have to tell you, man, I
got antsy. I got so antsy. He threw me right
back into my playing days and I wanted to help
out the team so much, but I knew in my
mind I could not go on the field. But I'm
(01:31):
not gonna lie to you. The thought crossed my mind
because I got really antsy.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
I didn't even consider that actually, because I was like, Okay,
for me, it's intimidating just to be standing on the sidelines,
but for you, it's like, okay, you got to stand
on the sidelines. You have to hold this microphone, but
you can't go out and help in any.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Way, shape or for Yeah, you know what.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
It was just watching from in the booze or at home.
I mean, it's entirely different. But being there, boots on
the ground, smelling the ground, right there, the players are
right there in your face. You see so many things
that you want to correct, and that player instant kind
of kicked in again, but once again I had to
exercise the strength Nick you can't go on the field.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
How many players came over and said something to you
while you were doing that? In the first half when
you were on the Broncos side, it.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Was several players. Several players just kind of turned around
and looked like, Oh my god, what are you doing?
And then when I went on the jack side, it
was the same thing because there were former trainers or
guys I played with who were coaching with Jacksonville, or
guys who I coached with in San Francisco, but they
(02:43):
were like, what are you doing? It was a fun experience,
but at the same time there were so many people
who were shocked, like what the hell is going on?
Speaker 2 (02:53):
It's not like living in an upside down, you know.
It's funny.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
So the guy who was doing the same thing the
parabolic microphone for Fox Television, which had the game yesterday,
came over to me and said, Hey, Ross, your new guy.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Your new guy.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Is having a lot of fun on the parabolic mic today.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
And I don't know if that guy has ever spoken
to me before.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Usually I just say hi, I see him a lot
when I do these games. But it's the longest conversation
I ever had with him. He's like, oh, yeah, that
new guy is having a really good time.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
That's amazing.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Yeah, you know what he was asking me, making making
sure that I knew, you know, everything was going on,
and he was just talking to me just got you
know what. It's almost like a rookie doing something in a
veteran stepping in trying to aid and help out wherever
they can. It was a great experience.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Man.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
I would employ anyone who has an opportunity to get
a chance and jump on that parabolic mike to do so.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
All right, Nick, let's let's keep the same perspective that
you have going on here.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
You're holding the parabolic mic. What do you feel like was.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
The one play, one situation you keep saying, I just
was wanted to go out and help fix blank. What
was the one that really just made you want to
just run out there and try to help.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Well, the tackling, I think it was Parker Washington on
the Broncos sideline. He got caught a pass and I
think Roley Moss missed a tackle and he ran up
the sideline, And for me, I was pride myself and
not missing tackles, and when it comes to tackling, it's
about angles and pursuit angles. What do you put your eyes?
What are you looking to tackle? And then making those
(04:25):
guys run back to where the help is. So that
was an aspect of the game that I was like, Oh, man,
I wish I could go out there and help.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
I mean, do you actually engage in these conversations, not
necessarily while you're doing the mic thing, but oh actually
I wanted to ask you this too, and it's related.
Did you go on the field afterwards and talk with
the players and go out there in the middle of
field thing?
Speaker 3 (04:48):
No? I didn't. I avoided that, like the plague. I
just stayed on the outskirts. And when the coaches from
Jacksonville were coming off, obviously some of them know me,
I just kind of ran into them. We just had
a couple of checks. But that's about it.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Yeah, Oh well that I mean, that's actually great. I
have to say. Also, just walking around.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
With Nick, you know, outside the stadium and inside the stadium,
it's like it's it's like walking around with Mick Jagger
or something. You know, It's like, Wow, everybody knows him
and everybody wants to say hi, and it's it's kind
of it's kind of cool, And Nick, do you do
you love that?
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Does it?
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Does it wear on you sometimes being that kind of
celebrity around you know, Broncos World.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
No, it doesn't, because I don't consider myself to be
a celebrity. I look at myself being like an everyday
man that happens to play a sport that everyone loves.
And that's why, you know, the reaction that you were
seeing is because that's just kind of the way that
I am. When I see people, I say hello, and
if they recognize me, I spend time with them because
for me, as a player, I'm not who I am
(05:55):
without those fans coming to the games. So when I
see them out and you know, they're very or I
give them some know, some of my time. I stand there,
we talk, we talk about the game, whatever's on their mind.
So the reaction that you were saying was because I
do that with every single person I come across.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
And you're probably a fun one for people to meet too.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
They don't meet you and go, oh man, wow, that
is not who I expected Nick Ferguson to be.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
But I digress. When we talk about.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
It, you know what, Gena. My whole thing is when
people meet me, I know that may be a chance meeting.
So I want them to walk away with somewhat of
an experience. So when they walk away, they're like, man
that Nick Ferguson. Man, I love that guy. And that's
not me putting on the show. That's me being who
I am because I appreciate this fan base. They go out,
(06:39):
they spend their money, they sacrifice their time, they sit
in the weather. So that's the least that I can
do for them.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Last, very quick question for you, Nick, any thoughts going
into the Christmas game in Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Yeah, it should be an easy win for the Denver Broncos,
and I know there's no such things easy to win,
but they're down the guns the cheese. It down to
their third quarter back. This is short week. How much
can they prepare? And then the fact that the Broncos
lost a game at home that they should have won.
They're gonna be looking to take it out on someone.
And it's great that they don't have to wait like
seven days for it to happen. The game is going
(07:12):
to take place on Christmas, and what better way to
kick the cheese when they're down on Christmas.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah right, What a perfect way to leave the conversation.
Nick Ferguson, co host of Broncos Country to Night six
pm to eleven pm week nights here on KOA. It
was a lot of fun doing the mics with you yesterday, Nick.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Maybe we'll do it again next year. Thank you, appreciate it,
Thank God. All right,
