Speaker 1 (00:01):
Yeah, ripped, So you don't have.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
You come running just as fast as we can shoot
is gonna help come?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Dick is the Troubleshooter show. No, Tom Martino.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Hello, I'm Tom Martino. Welcome to the show.

Speaker 5 (00:30):
Major.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Mark Major is off today. I think Suess is off too,
and we have in the studio all by themselves. We
have Jeff Fick and Kevin Caulkin. They didn't want to
come to the Home studio. They were afraid.

Speaker 6 (00:47):
They we're here, we can rummage to all the stuff
that we usually don't get to look at.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Yeah, they're scared. Anyway, I gave them the choice. They
could come to the home studio. I told them nobody
would buy. No, seriously, it's more convenient. And then they
went to the DTC. They're at the Mothership and again
they're unfettered day. They have no one there to control them.
So let's talk about your life first. I want to

(01:11):
say this, the lowest priced furnaces anywhere.

Speaker 7 (01:17):
If you need a furnace, they guarantee it.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
So all I say is when people come to the
Tom Martino and Mark Major Club of the lowest price,
it has to be the lowest price and renew home
innovations dot Com says, if you're quoted a furnace, we
will beat the price. You will pay the lowest price
renew home innovations dot Com threeh three nine zero four

(01:41):
to two thousand. We also have other people who do
the lowest price. For example, what would you say if
you had to pick something that you could be the
lowest price, Kevin, I'm going to tell you that you
are absolutely the lowest price when it comes to regular
service on BMW's where to you there there's I don't

(02:02):
think anyone can beat you. Nope, nope, you got a
beamer guy right there, So I can vouch for that, Jeff,
if you had to pick something, and again, I'm not
saying that the lowest price is necessary, but it's nice
when you have something where you can be the lowest price.
So what do you got going on, Jeff, that you

(02:22):
could be the lowest price where you don't think anyone
can touch you because of your efficiency.

Speaker 6 (02:26):
Well, I mean we talked about it last week. I
opened up that special for the you know what's going
on for another week yet where we're offering fifty percent
off of maintenance services, so transmission service, transfer case service,
differential services, so no.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
One can be that half. That's that's fifty transmission. Yeah,
humor for Zach.

Speaker 7 (02:49):
You have an issue with Heather Garden.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Zach, can you uh tell me what's going on, Zach?
What's happening?

Speaker 7 (02:57):
Sir?

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (02:59):
Yeah, mom lives there. She's in an apartment building on
the third floor. She's handicapped, and their elevator has been
out since Thanksgiving Day for over two weeks.

Speaker 7 (03:09):
What wait a minute, what do these older people do?

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Isn't this a place for older people?

Speaker 8 (03:15):
Yes, exactly, And yeah, I've they've been stuck. You know,
I've had to help people carry up groceries like they're
her neighbors carry up groceries and stuff. And everybody's just
got been stuck. And they keep saying tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
How many floors is it? How many floors is this building?

Speaker 8 (03:31):
Well, it's got a garage and then three floors.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
And you have older people on the third floor, even
the second floor. But you have older people that literally
have to climb the stairs there is no elevator.

Speaker 8 (03:44):
Yeah, and my mom she can't even climb the stairs.
She's found, you know, scooter in a wheelchair, so she's stuck.
So she can't get out doctor's apartments.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
What do they say about the elevator? When are they
going to have it fixed?

Speaker 8 (03:59):
They keep saying the parks, the parks stuck out east,
and they keep sayings come tomorrow, like all week long.
Parts the parts supposed to be here tomorrow. The parts
supposed to be here tomorrow. But I mean, it's been
all week in it and it's since when same Thanksgiving
Day we got a call over there my sisters and everything.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Is hey, Kachina, who do we have that we can
have a call over there?

Speaker 7 (04:27):
Do we have anybody on duty today?

Speaker 9 (04:31):
Is actually on?

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Judy Good He's good for this one. He can get
to the bottom of this one. Bo is really good
with this kind of stuff. So hold on, man, this
is crazy. So it helped me if I can understand.
At Heather Gardens, they rent they don't own those units
right now.

Speaker 8 (04:51):
They're all owned and my own rents from a private owner.
But they're all privately owned.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
Oh they are, okay, So she is renting from a
private owner. And what do people do? I mean, really seriously,
since Thanksgiving Day? What are they doing? Is the apartment
house at least offering to help somehow? I mean or
not the apartment house. But the HOA are they what
are they doing?

Speaker 8 (05:18):
I don't know. I haven't seen anything. I haven't seen
him try anything, but yeah, I haven't seen to do
anything like.

Speaker 7 (05:24):
That's all.

Speaker 8 (05:24):
Like I said. One day, I was just walking out
and it happened to see their neighbors trying to carry groceries upstairs.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
And you know, yeah, no, technically, Zach, technically the landlord
is responsible to your mom, the landlord who owns that place.
But the landlord is also a victim. I mean, and
the HIA is just nothing but the tenants. So is
there a management company? I mean, who is making the
decisions there?

Speaker 8 (05:51):
Well, it's other gardens community. It's a huge community, so
I'm not really like, I'm not really sure there.

Speaker 7 (05:56):
Must be a management company.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
I mean, if it's Heather Garden and they're all individually
owned condos, then there's an HOA, and then the HOA
would have.

Speaker 7 (06:08):
A management company.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
How many of these buildings are there is this is
it is one building or how many buildings?

Speaker 8 (06:18):
It's a big complex. It's probably about five or six
apartment buildings, and then there's a bunch of like town
homes and there's a golf course.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Okay. So okay, so it's only this building obviously being
affected right now?

Speaker 7 (06:32):
Yes, okay, that is crazy.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
We're going to have somebody call over there and see
what we can find out. Okay, so we will. We
will take your information and somebody will be in touch
with you. Three h three seven one three talks seven
one three eight two five five Eva, what's going on
with you? Eva?

Speaker 7 (06:52):
Welcome to the show. What's happening?

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Thank you? Yes? But what's going on?

Speaker 10 (06:57):
A guy?

Speaker 11 (06:58):
Can I say his name?

Speaker 7 (06:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Of course, okay.

Speaker 11 (07:01):
His name is Jeremy. And I hired him to fix
my sunroom floor because it kind of tilted and it
exposed the outside. So he came, hold.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
On, hold on to fix, to fix your sun's floor.

Speaker 11 (07:14):
Did you say sunroom, sunroom floor, sunroom floor.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
I'm sorry to fix your sunroom floor? Got it? And
what happened?

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Yes?

Speaker 11 (07:21):
So he came to give an estimate. He said it
would be between six and eight hundred dollars. He was
going to remove part of the outside wall and jack
up the floor and stabilize it. And I told him
I'm going to apply for an emergency fund through my work,
for which I donate every payday, and I found out
they would give me one thousand dollars to help me

(07:42):
out because it was an emergency.

Speaker 7 (07:44):
Tell me what was wrong with the floor in the sunroom.

Speaker 11 (07:47):
What was wrong with it? It just failed? It went
sideways kind of, it kind of dipped down and it
opened up to the outside.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Is it concrete?

Speaker 12 (07:56):
Oh no, it was like plywood.

Speaker 11 (07:58):
I live in a mobile home.

Speaker 7 (08:00):
Okay, I got it.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
And so the floor, the wooden deck sunk a little, right,
it can't.

Speaker 11 (08:08):
Be in So this guy, you know, he said that
he would give me an estimate, you know, to give
to my work. They insisted on sending the whole thousand
dollars to him, because I know you're only supposed to
pay half and then half in the jobs.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
No, actually, nobody, I don't know what you mean. You're
only supposed to pay half. You don't pay anything. I mean,
there's no law you have to pay. In fact, I
don't think I would pay anything unless they had to
buy materials, and I would only pay them when they delivered.

Speaker 7 (08:37):
So no, I don't believe that you have to pay half.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
So anyway, here's what I want to know though, on
this floor in this mobile home park, who is it
your work that is paying for this? There is an
emergency fund where you work.

Speaker 11 (08:52):
Yes, they were going to help me with a thousand dollars.

Speaker 7 (08:56):
And how much was it going to cost you?

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Eight?

Speaker 11 (09:00):
Just said, well he changed it to one thousand, two
hundred and twenty.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Four okay, okay, so one thousand and two and so
did he do it or not?

Speaker 10 (09:14):
Well?

Speaker 11 (09:15):
When I signed the contract for the floor, I also
signed to have him put pro panel on the roof
of my car port and I.

Speaker 7 (09:22):
Got part of the twelve is that part of the
twelve hundred?

Speaker 4 (09:26):
No?

Speaker 11 (09:26):
No, I gave him twenty seven hundred dollars down.

Speaker 7 (09:30):
Oh my god.

Speaker 11 (09:32):
Yeah, the whole job is going to be three thousand,
three hundred and seventy five dollars.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
For the roof. Okay, okay, but well, okay, so how
much did you pay him up Frontal? Has he been
paid the whole thirty three seventy five right now? Yes?

Speaker 11 (09:48):
Yes he has.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Okay? And did he do the job?

Speaker 11 (09:54):
Okay? So after a month he texted me that my
floor was done and I get home late. So when
I went home, I noticed that the sunroom floor was
ten inches lower from the door where you come out
to the floor, and when I came out, and then
the other door to go out of the sunroom was
five and a half inches lower, and the floor felt

(10:17):
unstable and spongy. And he actually used all old material.
He didn't buy anything new, and he didn't consult me
to ask me.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
You know, how did you find Jeremy.

Speaker 13 (10:30):
He was.

Speaker 11 (10:32):
Someone that our only builder supply had recommended him, and
they said he was the city's building inspector.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
And I thought, what's Jeremy's last name.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
What's Jeremy's last Yes, Mascarinus, Masterinus mascarinus.

Speaker 11 (10:48):
Yeah, okay, But anyway, the floor looked awful. It was
all the old wood. And then he called me the
next day and I said, you know, Jeremy, I've been
watching the project. I've been taking pictures.

Speaker 13 (11:02):
All right.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Hold on and I'll come right back Eva. Hold on
and I'll come right back to Holly. We'll also take

sun room EVA.

Speaker 7 (12:28):
I get it. Okay.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
The guy was paid and he did a bad job.
Bottom line, right, are you complaining about everything he did
or just the floor?

Speaker 11 (12:40):
Well, the floor was not up to code. There were
also gaps between the floor and the wall two inches
where you could see sun the wind was coming in.
And then I have like a pet door area and
there was about an eight inch opening and animals were
coming in. So I I asked hear me to give

(13:01):
me the sunroom keys back. He came and gave them
to me, and he said, your health is junk, and
I said, I know it is, That's why I'm trying
to fix it. I said that this floor is unstable,
and I said, you know what, move on to the roof.
Let's let this go for now. And then he said,
I'm not going to fix your roof. You're nothing but
a complainer. You're ungrateful, and he said he threatened, I'm

(13:25):
going to have all the riffing supplies I ordered dumped
in your yard in two days. And I said, well,
I need to be home when you do that. I said,
they get stolen nuts on you, and he goes, no,
it's on you. I said, but I signed a contract.
Are you going to fix the roof? And he goes, no,
I'm not a contract.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Good is their contract? Well, good is a contract when
you have somebody who doesn't care. But eva, he might
be listen, don't. I don't want to insult you. He
might be right. You might have a junky mobile home
and it's impossible to make it right. It might just
be one thing leads to another, which leads to another.
It's really hard working on those things. But then he
shouldn't take your money either. How much money total? How

(14:03):
much money total has he been paid?

Speaker 11 (14:06):
He's been paid four thousand, three hundred and seventy.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Wait a minute, you just said it was thirty three
seventy five. How did he get up there four thousand?
How did he get up to another thousand?

Speaker 11 (14:17):
Because one thousand dollars my work paid him. They sent
him a check for the sunroom floor, So well, hold on,
so he was paid.

Speaker 7 (14:27):
So the whole job was going to be forty three seventy.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Five, right, right, So he went and oh, hold on, okay,
forty three seventy five And he's been paid all of that.
Why did you keep paying him?

Speaker 11 (14:42):
I just because I paid him the money because I
had I had it to give him. I wanted to
pay as much as I could.

Speaker 10 (14:48):
That way.

Speaker 11 (14:49):
When the job was done, I went, oh.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
So much does this guy? Does this guy own a business,
this Jeremy Masterinus.

Speaker 13 (14:57):
It's called Majestic slopes, Majestic slopes.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
What does he do, this Jeremy master Anus. What does
he do if he is.

Speaker 11 (15:06):
The city building inspector.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
No, that's not what majestic slopes is.

Speaker 11 (15:12):
What's majestic work for the city of Trinidad.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
And so when he's not doing majestic slopes, he's an
inspector for Trinidad, right right, But anyway, I.

Speaker 11 (15:28):
Called an attorney and he said just let him.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Well, why would you call an a jurney? You can't
order an attorney for this. We're about forty and it
would be cheaper to hire somebody to fix everything.

Speaker 11 (15:40):
Yeah, well, let me just tell you. Jeremy fixed the roof.
He put pro pountl on it. The roof wasn't even
a month old, and the metal started to buckle. So
I told him my roofs come.

Speaker 7 (15:52):
To Isaac, clown the guys.

Speaker 11 (15:54):
And then then the first snow we have last Monday,
the roof leaked and three spots and I took pictures
and I let him know and he said, I'm going
to come over and call it.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Have you just to the hell of it? Did you
call the City of Trinidad.

Speaker 11 (16:10):
Well, I spoke with the city manager on Wednesday set
up a meeting letter because I have a total of
five new leaks under my car.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Perpose, I mean, I mean, did he ever pull permits
for any of this work?

Speaker 11 (16:22):
He did not. He did not.

Speaker 14 (16:24):
Here.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Okay, so this Jeremy master Anus, he is a building
inspector for Trinidad, and he didn't even bull He didn't
even pull a permit for the work he did, and
he charged you forty three hundred dollars. And you're saying
all the work is substandard. Have you had another contractor
look at this?

Speaker 11 (16:44):
Yes? I did, and I actually one of the contractors
said that Jeremy used dywall screws in my floor and
the floor was going to break. And then I actually
had another contractor come in.

Speaker 7 (16:56):
How much is it going to cost to fix everything?

Speaker 11 (16:59):
How much is it going to I've paid twenty four
hundred dollars to have the floor six it's now back
to the original height.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
Yeah, but no, you paid forty three hundred and seventy
five dollars for everything. Here's what I need to know. Eva.
You got to hold on. Okay, just hold on because
I want to take Holly real quick here and then
I'll come back to you. I have some solid recommendations
for you, but you're going to have to follow them,
and maybe maybe because he is an inspector for the city.

Speaker 7 (17:26):
You might get paid. But hold on, Holly.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
Since it's car Day, I wanted to get your problem
out here about your twenty fifteen Ford Edge to see
what our experts have to say.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
What's going on, Holly, what's happening?

Speaker 12 (17:41):
Well, right now, nothing's happening. But back on September twenty ninth,
I was looking for a car. I found a car
that I absolutely loved, and it was at a place
called Colorado Motor Cars.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
Is that this sport to twenty fifty Ford Edge?

Speaker 12 (18:00):
Yes?

Speaker 15 (18:01):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (18:02):
And you bought it? When did you buy it?

Speaker 12 (18:04):
I bought it on September twenty ninth.

Speaker 7 (18:07):
And you bought it from a place called.

Speaker 12 (18:09):
What Colorado Motor Cars?

Speaker 7 (18:12):
Okay, so what happened? What went wrong?

Speaker 12 (18:15):
So when I went and looked at the car, it
was after work and it had a cracktail light. And
Tim Lacy, who is the manager there, said Okay, I'll
knock five hundred dollars off for that, but the light
still works. I was okay with that. I took it
for a drive. It seemed perfectly fine. I went in.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Yeah, but you can't.

Speaker 7 (18:36):
You can't.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
You didn't get it checked out, did you? No?

Speaker 15 (18:39):
I didn't.

Speaker 12 (18:40):
And okay, so many red flags that I did not
pay attention to. And I'm kicking myself now.

Speaker 7 (18:46):
So what happened? What's wrong with it?

Speaker 12 (18:49):
Okay? So well, I ended up taking it back eventually
because I went in. I filled the paperwork out. Their
lights didn't work. I had to use my cell phone
flash light all out the paperwork.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Okay, and you know where's Colorado. Where's Colorado Motor Cars located?

Speaker 12 (19:07):
It's on West Mississippi Avenue.

Speaker 7 (19:12):
On West Mississippi, Mississippian.

Speaker 12 (19:14):
What I'm wanting to say, Mississippian. Just it's just west
of Santa Fe.

Speaker 7 (19:21):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
So I don't know where we're going with this, but
I want you to hold on and we'll take your problem.
We have our experts standing by two. I don't know
if this. Let's just see what we can do for you. You
took it back. I'm interested to hear the rest of

Speaker 7 (20:33):
All right, I'm Tom Martino. Eva.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
Hang on, I need to finish with Holly. So, Holly,
you bought a use It all boils down to this.
You bought a used Ford Edge. Obviously there were problems
when you took it back.

Speaker 7 (20:50):
Did they undo the deal for you? What did they
do when you returned it.

Speaker 12 (20:54):
Well, first of all, I took it home that night
and then I noticed there was a crack in the
moon roof the next morning.

Speaker 10 (21:02):
Yeah, okay, weird smell.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
What I Well, it doesn't none of that matters. You
took it back. Did you want when you took it back?
Did you say I want my money back or did
you do some kind of an exchange?

Speaker 7 (21:14):
What did you do when you took it back?

Speaker 12 (21:16):
When I took it back, I had left one thousand
dollars down payment, and for some reason, my financing didn't
go through because my husband wasn't included in application anyway.
So I talked to the credit union. I told her
about the fees as they were charging, and she's like,
that's the red flag. So I'm like, with all the

(21:37):
problems with car, I'm taking it back. So I took
it back and I told them that you know there's probs, Oh,
I'll fix those. I'll fix those.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
Well, hold on. So when you when you took the
car though, and it's really important, I know this stuff.
When you took it and made that one thousand dollars deposit,
did you sign anything for the balance to do?

Speaker 12 (21:57):
Yes, I signed an application for the thing.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
But how much was it too? How much? How much
was the car one thousand dollars down?

Speaker 7 (22:07):
How much did you owe on in addition to that?

Speaker 12 (22:10):
H twelve twelve eight something like that.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Yeah, well, okay, so the whole was twelve eight.

Speaker 12 (22:19):
Yes, the whole whole thing was like fourteen. And then
he knocked some some price off here for the tail light.
And then but the financing never went through because I
had a debt to income ratio problem. So the whole
thing was not three. He wanted my husband on it.
I looked at the paperwork and saw all the major
fees he was charging.

Speaker 7 (22:38):
Yeah, but you did all of this backwards, Holly.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
You signed everything and bought it, and then you had
these So here's what I need to know. Did they
undo the deal? Where does it stand right now?

Speaker 12 (22:50):
He took the keys back and said, I'm I'm charging
you for a one hundred dollars a day and a
dollar a mon.

Speaker 7 (23:00):
Okay, So so where does it stand?

Speaker 12 (23:05):
No, he hasn't returned my money, he won't return my call. Okay,
fled with a better business bureau.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
I don't the better business bureau. When you say you
filed with the Better Business Bureau. They're nobody. Okay, they
do nothing. All they do is keep track of problems.
But here's what I need to know. Okay, this is
I need to know where you stand. You see, it
could be that he had a right to keep that deposit.
It could be you didn't have a right to undo
the deal. I know you're telling me all the problems

(23:33):
you found, but you found them after you made the deposit,
and after you signed the paperwork. Do you have copies
of the paperwork you signed?

Speaker 7 (23:43):
Dude?

Speaker 12 (23:43):
But not with me? I was okay, Colleen, I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
Oh no, no, No, that's okay. We can still help you.
I mean, we don't have to wrap it all up today.
I just need to know a few things. Have they
ever bothered you after you return the car? You never
heard from them?

Speaker 16 (23:58):
No?

Speaker 12 (23:59):
No, because you think do you think they owe you?

Speaker 4 (24:04):
You think they owe you one thousand dollars?

Speaker 12 (24:07):
No, six hundred and thirty three dollars and fifty cents
if we're going off his one hundred dollars a day,
one hundred dollars a mile. I returned it on October first.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
They probably do owe you something, Yeah, but I'm not
sure Where did he come up with.

Speaker 7 (24:26):
That one hundred dollars a day?

Speaker 4 (24:27):
Did was that in your contract?

Speaker 12 (24:30):
It was a DR two forty five form, and he got, oh,
that's what the state, that's what the state issues. But
it's it's not you feel in the numbers. He said,
that was industry standard. It's not. I bought the same car,
the exact same type of car a day later from
a reputable dealer and it's fifty dollars a day, fifty

(24:53):
cents a mile. So he's inflating his fees. And he
charged me for three days and when I had it
less than forty eight hours. Okay, I'll let him have that,
but he still of me.

Speaker 11 (25:07):
And he won't pay it.

Speaker 12 (25:08):
He won't talk to me.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
Have you ever thought about small Have you ever thought
about small claims court?

Speaker 12 (25:15):
No, I didn't know how to go from there. I
did file with the Colorado Department of Revenue.

Speaker 10 (25:21):
I don't yeah for this.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
I'm not sure. See, I'm not sure if what they
did was it could be that they did a really
screwy deal, and it could be that's the right place
to go, the Dealer Licensing Board. Have you heard back
from them.

Speaker 12 (25:35):
He said, Frank Semisius took my case on October eleventh,
but I haven't heard back from him.

Speaker 7 (25:44):
So, yeah, you know, they do a good job.

Speaker 4 (25:46):
If this, if this dealership screwed you, they do a
pretty good job. Right now, here's what we need to do.
I think what you need to do from here. I
don't mind calling them and see if they'll come on
the air. Kashina, you ought to call and ask will
they address this problem? I mean, really, we have her

(26:07):
on the air right now. Let's see if they'll come
on and talk about this. Colorado Motor Cars on Mississippi
and Santa Fe. I've never heard of them before. I
don't know if that's good or bad. But are they
a big dealership or are they a little rink heating dealership?

Speaker 12 (26:22):
Dealership? It's a little dealership, okay.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
And who did you deal with their? Who's the person
you dealt with?

Speaker 12 (26:29):
He's the general manager.

Speaker 10 (26:30):
Kim lank What Kim Lacy?

Speaker 4 (26:32):
Kim?

Speaker 12 (26:33):
Yeah? Tim is in Tim oh okay?

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Got it?

Speaker 7 (26:37):
Tim? Okay?

Speaker 12 (26:39):
And if you look at the reviews, and I didn't
look at the reviews before I bought there. He has
done this for many many people.

Speaker 4 (26:46):
Well used car places have so many problems.

Speaker 7 (26:50):
I mean, it's par for the course.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
I'll bet you it's hard to find a used car
place that has good reviews.

Speaker 7 (26:57):
Seriously, I mean it's it sucks.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
I think what we got.

Speaker 12 (27:03):
The second car.

Speaker 13 (27:04):
I did my research and uh yeah, because you learn
from the first, you learn from the first one.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
But I don't know if you're going to get this
money back, but I think that I would like to
assign this to Deputy D. He's not on duty today,
but he can help you. He can help you file
or not. He won't help you file, but he can
give you a logistical help on a small claims action

(27:32):
on what to do and how to do it. So
hold on, Kaschina, Let's give Holly over to Deputy D
so he can give her logistical help on the small
claims system. And Holly, that's where I think it should be.
And then see if they'll come on the air as well.
Kachina three oh three seven one three eight two five

a bunch of work done and she said, as it sucks,
and you know she wants her money back. I don't
know what's happening there, but we got to talk about it. Okay,
this guy was paid forty three hundred bucks. This is
someone who should really I don't know if she has

(28:17):

I think if she went to small Claim Score, she
could collect, especially because he works for the City of Trinidad.
So hold on, EVA, we'll come back to you as well.

I mean the guy Jeremy Mascarinus or Masterinus. He is
with Majestic Slopes. I guess it's a company that he
has down in Trinidad. But he's also an inspector for
the city. What's really funny, and I wonder what Trinidad

(30:09):
would think about this. He didn't pull permis for his
own work here. He is a building inspector or some
kind of inspector, and he didn't pull any permits. EVA.
We want to get this guy. We want to get him.
Do you have his phone number? Did you give his
phone number to Kachina?

Speaker 12 (30:28):
I did not.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Okay, we're going to do that off the air and
we're going to call him. All right, What does he
say right now about will he make the work right
or not? Or he says, you're not grateful. He's not
going to do anything, is that right?

Speaker 11 (30:43):
Right? And he told me about the leaks in my
roost that he told me that I'm that I'm losing
my marbles, that the there's not leaks where the screws are,
but there are because I touched the water and the
screws are underneath, and I have pictures and video. He
basically he came to my house Wednesday when he got

(31:04):
out of work and he put more colocking. He put
five tubes of colocking on the roof. And I told
him there's an underlying problem, but he keeps.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Telling, yeah, but what hold on, Eva, Eva? You may
need a whole new roof. He didn't.

Speaker 7 (31:18):
You didn't pay him to put on a whole new roof.

Speaker 11 (31:21):
No, but he didn't assess the wood underneath. And I
asked him, do you want to remove the shingles? He
said that the shingles that were on there were causing
the leaks because they weren't put on right, which another
man did. And I said, if that's true, why aren't
we removing the stingless?

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Eva? How old is this mable home?

Speaker 7 (31:39):
Eva howls, This mobile home that's.

Speaker 11 (31:41):
Old, it's I don't know how old the carport roof
is because it was added on.

Speaker 7 (31:46):
How old?

Speaker 4 (31:46):
How old is the mobile home? Just tell me how
old it is.

Speaker 11 (31:49):
It's the mobile home is forty years old.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Oh my god, lived there.

Speaker 11 (31:54):
Did extra work on it, you know? And that's what
I'm saying.

Speaker 7 (31:57):
Yeah, but apparently listen, I'm I'm going to be straight
with you.

Speaker 4 (32:01):
It could be. It really could be that Jeremy is
in over his head. It could be that you do
have a piece of junk on your hands. And I
don't mean that he should cheat you. He shouldn't take
your money. But I mean, if he took forty three
hundred dollars and he didn't do good work, but you
shouldn't expect him to rebuild your mobile home for that.

Speaker 11 (32:21):
I mean, I don't, but he promised that there was
What do.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
You want right now? Let me just ask you, Eva,
what do you want right now? You're in a forty
year old mobile home? So what do you want?

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Well?

Speaker 11 (32:33):
I would like for him to refund some of my money,
because okay.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
That's fair, that's fair. But but I'm not sure did he
do any good at all for the forty three hundred dollars.

Speaker 7 (32:48):
Did he do anything for you?

Speaker 11 (32:50):
Worse me?

Speaker 4 (32:51):
Come on New weekok hold on Eva, hold on Kashena,
get that number from her. Let's give this guy a
call to Okay, just hold on Eva.

working there that's doing work on the side and he's
not pulling permits and he needs to give some money
back to this woman. The guy's name is Jeremy Mascarinus,

(33:47):
Mascarenas like whatever, like mascarinus, I don't know, like what.
It sounds like master anus, but it's not. It's mascre
mascar It's like madamask Madigan, nevermind mascarinus. Okay, Garinus, I'm
losing it here. His and he is called Majestic Slopes.
So give a call down to the building department. Does

(34:10):
he work for the building department in Trinidad. Where does
he work exactly for the Yeah, but for the building
department or what.

Speaker 11 (34:22):
I know he's the city's building inspector.

Speaker 7 (34:25):
Well, okay, that would be the building department. EVA. Uh,
what do you do for a living? Out of curiosity?

Speaker 11 (34:32):
I'm an RN. I've been an RN for thirty five years.

Speaker 7 (34:35):

Welcome one and all. It's car Day today.

Speaker 7 (36:12):
I have Jeff Thick with.

Speaker 4 (36:14):
Us from Kimmer Transmissions and I are Kimmer's Transmission or
is it transmissions Kimmer Transmissions.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
It's pick up the phone.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
Yeah. And then we have Kevin Calkins shared an auto tech.
We're talking about cars, problems, questions. We haven't gotten to
that yet, but I do have some text on that.
And then we're taking your calls on any problems you have,
and I encourage you to call especially you know, as
we get near the holidays, you're gonna have a lot
of time off and a lot of time in between

(36:45):
and people. You don't want things to fester too long.
Let's get a hold of people before the holidays. Now,
Eva has a problem with a guy that's an inspector
down in Trinidad, and he's a building inspector for the
City of Trinidad, but he does work on the side
with majestic slopes and that's the name of his company.

(37:10):
Jerry Mascarenas is his name. And Jerry Mascarenas, who I
affectionately call Masterinus, he.

Speaker 7 (37:22):
Did some work for her.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
Now, granted, this is a forty year old mobile home,
and it might be a piece of junk. Okay, I
mean it's a forty year mobile home. She's got roof leaks,
she's got a deck separating from her sun room, and
a number of different problems. This guy was paid forty
three hundred bucks and she got even a thousand of

(37:45):
that from her work, which is they're really nice. It's
an emergency fund that they gave her and they actually
they paid it directly to Jerry Masterinus. And in any case,
he did the work, and she said, she still has
a lot of problems. Now, let's just put it this way.
Jerry might be well intentioned, but when he got into

(38:08):
this thing, it was way more than he anticipated. You know,
that happens a lot with older mobile homes and older homes.
You start working on something and you peel one layer
and there's another layer of problems. Old things have a
habit of doing that, of where problems surface. After you

(38:31):
take one problem and you solve it, there's another problem.
He opened up a can of worms. Possibly he tried
to fix this deck. It was pulling away from the
sun room. She could see daylight through it. She says
it's still not really good. He used a lot of
used materials. The floor is spongy. She also said she

(38:53):
has roof leaks. Now here's the deal. Could he fix
all of this for that forty three hundred Maybe not,
Maybe it's impossible. But the bottom line is he did
take some money from her. Did she get her money's worth?
Eva says he made everything worse. I kind of doubt
that there's some truth somewhere in the middle there. But

(39:16):
we're trying to get a hold of Jeremy and if Jeremy,
if you're listening, or the city of Trinidad by now,
I'm hoping some of my morons called down there, my
YouTube morons. I'm hoping you called down to the city
and you told them to uh, you know, uh, to
get on this guy's butt to see if to see

(39:38):
if we could help her three O three seven one
three eight two five five. Now what we're gonna do, Eva,
We put a call into him. We're going to see
if he calls us back. We also put a call
or where I'm hoping my morons put a call into
the city to see why, in fact, you know, that's

(40:02):
a really good question.

Speaker 7 (40:03):
Why is he not pulling permits?

Speaker 17 (40:08):
Now?

Speaker 4 (40:08):
It could be the work he was doing did not
require permits. He wasn't doing the whole roof, he was
just doing some patching. So it could be that some
of the work he was doing doesn't need a permit.
But Eva, we will do what we can to follow
this up.

Speaker 7 (40:25):
Okay. Meanwhile, you want some of your money back.

Speaker 4 (40:30):
Have you have you had another contractor look at your
place and really think how much will it cost to
just really fix all of your minor problems?

Speaker 7 (40:41):
Have you ever gott an estimate on that?

Speaker 12 (40:43):
Okay?

Speaker 11 (40:44):
So the sunroom floor was fixed back to the height
where it was. I paid a contractor twenty four hundred dollars.
The same contractor can work on the roof and he
wants one thousand dollars to fix what Jeremy messed up.
And he said he can fix it.

Speaker 4 (41:02):
So not sure. So this contractor, this contractor is trustworthy, right.

Speaker 11 (41:08):
Oh yeah, he's a pastor of a church in Publo, West.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
Okay. And so did he do Did he do a
good job on the floor?

Speaker 11 (41:17):
He did an awesome job. Good back to the height,
it's stable. He used all new word good, beautiful.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
Okay, that's good to know, so Eva, So at least
we have a price then, So really, if this guy
can give some money back to you, Jeremy master ainus.
If he can give some money back to you, it's
possible you can get your roof fixed too. This guy
says how much to fix the roof?

Speaker 11 (41:44):
One thousand dollars.

Speaker 4 (41:46):
Well, that's not bad. Maybe we can get this done.
Maybe we can get this done.

Speaker 11 (41:52):
Pull one extra hours at work, and I'm exhausted, you know,
And I trusted this guy. If he didn't think he
could to do the work, he shouldn't have took the
job on, you know.

Speaker 4 (42:02):
Well, you know, maybe, but maybe he had good intentions.
I don't know, I don't know. Do you tell me
the truth. Did the guy seem like a cheat to you?
Did he seem like he was trying to pull a
fast one?

Speaker 11 (42:17):
Not really, but I didn't appreciate him calling me ungrateful,
saying he was trying to save me money when he
was not well. Maybe he was understanding to me, but
he's been condescending and it was rude. I've paid a
lot of money. He needs to be more respectful.

Speaker 4 (42:34):
I'm a customer, Yeah, that's true. And you're a registered nurse.
How long have you been a nurse?

Speaker 11 (42:42):
James thirty five years?

Speaker 4 (42:45):
Wow?

Speaker 7 (42:46):
How long have you lived in that trailer?

Speaker 11 (42:49):
I've lived there about ten years?

Speaker 5 (42:52):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (42:52):
Okay, okay, yeah. Do you try to keep it in
good shape?

Speaker 11 (42:57):
I do. It's so hard to find anyone in Trinidad
do small construction jobs. That's why I was excited when
I've heard about Jeremy, and I thought I can trust
this guy. He's the same.

Speaker 7 (43:08):
How did you find out about Jeremy?

Speaker 11 (43:11):
He was recommended from the builder supply in Trinidad.

Speaker 7 (43:15):
Okay, that's right, you mentioned that. You mentioned that.

Speaker 4 (43:19):
Okay, Eva, We're going to follow this along and we're
going to see if we can get a hold of
him and maybe he'll refund a thousand bucks.

Speaker 7 (43:29):
And if that's the case.

Speaker 4 (43:30):
Then then you you both walk away from each other.
And you get this other guy to do it. This
other pastor does he does this pastor from Pueblo West?

Speaker 7 (43:40):
Does he live in Trinidad Now?

Speaker 11 (43:42):
No, he lives in Pueblo West.

Speaker 4 (43:44):
So how did you find him? How did you find him?

Speaker 11 (43:48):
One of those CNAs at my job told me you
should be camicle to help you.

Speaker 7 (43:53):
Okay.

Speaker 11 (43:54):
He came right away and he's he's been awesome with me. Okay,
so grateful.

Speaker 7 (44:00):
So you work with the elderly, I do, and I
love that population.

Speaker 11 (44:04):
They're my favorite population of care.

Speaker 4 (44:06):
Well I'm part of that population. I think I'm part
of that population. I'm seven, I'm seventy two, sister. I mean,
I'm not a spring chicken. I'm seventy two years old. Right, yeah,
So anyway, thank you for what you do, and we'll
be in touch. Okay, Kaschina. Let's keep on this guy

(44:30):
and then we'll hand it over to a deputy.

Speaker 7 (44:33):

I know, but I need to know how old? How
old is the debt?

Speaker 15 (47:43):
He probably started to default on it about June.

Speaker 7 (47:48):
Okay, so it's recent.

Speaker 4 (47:50):
The reason I ask is because after a certain amount
of time, they can't collect it anyway. It's too difficult,
and that's why they might be willing to settle. But
this twelve thousand dollars he stopped paying back in June.

Speaker 15 (48:05):
Okay, they couldn't pay anymore.

Speaker 7 (48:07):
Yeah, okay, So how much will they settle for?

Speaker 15 (48:13):
About half of it? Exactly?

Speaker 4 (48:15):
Okay?

Speaker 15 (48:16):
Actually, okay. The thing I want is to know what
is the smartest thing to do for him to file
bankruptcy or to pay this debt?

Speaker 4 (48:25):
It depends, It really depends. Now I want you started
the call by saying legal advice. We're not giving a
legal advice, but I'll give you advice. I would my brother,
or my cousin or my listeners if you have a debt.
If you have a debt that can be settled easily,
that might be easier than a bankruptcy if you're not
riddled with other debt.

Speaker 7 (48:47):
But if he's riddled with other.

Speaker 4 (48:49):
Debt and all of this muck and meyer and he's
going to have problems, he may want to just bundle
it all up and do a bankruptcy and.

Speaker 7 (48:57):
Get it over with.

Speaker 4 (48:58):
So it really depends on his personal situation. So, Patricia,
a few questions about this guy. Okay, how old is he?

Speaker 15 (49:07):
He's fifty?

Speaker 7 (49:08):
Well, okay, so he's no child. Now. Is he an alcoholic?

Speaker 15 (49:14):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (49:15):
Okay, now is he also? Is he? Did he get
his life together yet? Or is he basically just being
a loser? Right now?

Speaker 7 (49:25):
You can be straight with us. We don't know your
last name.

Speaker 4 (49:27):
Is he being?

Speaker 7 (49:28):
Is he is he gonna? Is he getting his life
together or not?

Speaker 10 (49:32):
He is getting his life together, he really is.

Speaker 7 (49:35):
Okay, Has he stopped drinking?

Speaker 18 (49:37):
Then?

Speaker 15 (49:38):
Yes, he's stopped drinking. He's been for one hundred and
some days now. Oh good, patients with his doctor, he's good.
He's going through depression medication. Good kind of just jumped
on him all at once and got Okay, no.

Speaker 7 (49:56):
No, I get it.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
Now. Is his marriage dissolved or what? What's going on
with his marriage? His wife?

Speaker 15 (50:01):
You know, his wife walked down on him and the
kids fifteen years ago.

Speaker 4 (50:06):
Oh okay, that's what That's what added up and that's
what got to him.

Speaker 7 (50:10):
So but but his kids, how old are they?

Speaker 15 (50:14):
Oh, they're in their early twenties and they have gone
through college and I mean he's got them all the.

Speaker 10 (50:20):
Way here, but they moved on good good went.

Speaker 15 (50:24):
To the Western Slope. But that's okay, also causant depression
for him because they're.

Speaker 10 (50:28):
Gone, got it?

Speaker 4 (50:30):
Yeah, But you know what, with all the odds against him,
he managed to get his kids through college, he managed
to stop drinking, and now he's getting his life together.
So the question is what other debt does he have?

Speaker 15 (50:45):
He doesn't have anything but this thing. He's got a little.

Speaker 4 (50:49):
This is the only over Yeah, okay, what kind of
what kind of income does he have?

Speaker 15 (50:56):
Well? When he got the dose total, his car, lost
his job. He's starting over again. He's been working, but
it's you.

Speaker 4 (51:06):
Know, what kind of work did he what kind what
kind did he What was his best job ever? What
did he used to do that was.

Speaker 15 (51:12):
Good for thirty years, he worked for Safeway, Okay, got it?

Speaker 4 (51:17):
Okay, So he has no he has no specific skill,
like he's not an electrician or attech or anything like that. No,
he's not, and he's starting over. What is he doing
right now?

Speaker 15 (51:32):
He's working the night crew at targets.

Speaker 7 (51:35):
Okay, So he does he.

Speaker 4 (51:37):
Want to do more, that's for sure.

Speaker 7 (51:39):
You know, he may want to listen.

Speaker 4 (51:42):
Listen, I'm telling you something that people need to do.

Speaker 7 (51:46):
Apprenticeships.

Speaker 4 (51:47):
If you went to a company like fix It twenty
four to seven or plumb Line Services or any of
these good companies renew Home Innovations, if you if he
went to a good company and said, look, you know,
here's my story.

Speaker 7 (52:04):
I want to learn the industry.

Speaker 4 (52:06):
They will teach him from the ground up how to
be an HVAC technician and he'll go out with someone
on the job and learn. And they have apprenticeship programs
and even though he's fifty two, big deal, he could
learn this trade and make very very good money. I
mean they probably once they're broken in and they're on

(52:30):
their own with their own van, I'll bet you they
make near one hundred grand or more.

Speaker 15 (52:37):
It's a good no It is a.

Speaker 4 (52:40):
Good idea because what he has to do is stop
just doing patchwork. And what he has to do is
start building a foundation. And you can start building that
foundation at any age you want. I've started so many
companies in my life, and I like, I recently started
we Wave eight Wealth Management.

Speaker 7 (53:00):
I started that.

Speaker 4 (53:01):
It's you know, I mean, even though we've been doing
it in the background, I officially started it at seventy
years old. And so you can do stuff like that,
and what you do is you build a foundation.

Speaker 7 (53:13):
So he's fifty two, he's got.

Speaker 4 (53:15):
Plenty of work life left, and I think he should
do it. And I could even give him some phone
numbers to call. But if he just called there and said, look,
this is what I want, and he talked to HR
and he literally says, and this is for anyone listening.
You say, listen, I'm a fifty two year old man.
I'm a forty year old man. I'm a fifty two

(53:37):
year old woman. I'm a fifty year old woman. Whatever
you are say, I want to start over. I want
to learn the industry. I'm willing to learn. I'm willing
to put in the time. They will give you a
chance with these apprenticeships. They're dying for good, dependable people.
You don't have to be. All you have to be
is teachable. If you're teachable, you have life, you know what.

(54:01):
So here's what he should do. He should probably settle
this debt because it sounds to me like it wouldn't
be worth a bankruptcy if they'll settle for six grand.
If they'll settle for six grand, now I take it
you're gonna pay that for him, right?

Speaker 15 (54:17):
No, he has, he has four thousand. He's going to
borrow two from us and go from there.

Speaker 7 (54:23):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (54:24):
Now, please tell him about the job possibilities, and he
can always call me if he wants, or text me
personally on my cell phone. I'm going to give you
that number, okay, And I swear to you when I
tell you, I get these texts.

Speaker 7 (54:39):
On my cell phone twenty four to seven.

Speaker 4 (54:42):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (54:42):
So I'm going to give you that number. You ready, yep?

Speaker 4 (54:45):
I am seven four, seven nine nine nine fifty two eighty.
I'm willing to help anyone, and and truly I will.
If he wants help to rebuild, I will help him.

Speaker 7 (55:01):
So that's seven four, seven.

Speaker 4 (55:03):
Nine nine fifty two eighty nine nine nine yet. So
it's seven four, seven nine, nine, nine fifty two eighty.
What's that I said?

Speaker 15 (55:12):
One thing he is is a darn hard worker.

Speaker 4 (55:15):
Good good. It just sounds like he needs a little
help getting off his uh you know, off this bad luck,
this bad streak here and and you're you're a good mom.
So listen, you have him contact me about jobs or
about anything. Now, thank you for calling. Okay, Patricia, by the.

Speaker 7 (55:32):
Way, for anyone listening. Okay, I've been through it all.

Speaker 4 (55:36):
Okay, from the time I was a little boy, I've
been through it all. I've been knocked down and I
love that outon John song, I'm still standing. I've been
knocked down and then recently my fight with cancer, and
I want to give back.

Speaker 7 (55:47):
I want to help people.

Speaker 4 (55:49):
That's why I started Wave eight Wealth Management, That's why
I do the radio show, That's why I haven't retired yet.
I want to help people. I truly, you know, I've
been doing this for fifty years, forty five years in Denver,
and I want to help people. So you use that
text number. If you're a cancer patient and you need
some help or you have questions about your care, you

(56:11):
can text me as well.

Speaker 7 (56:13):
Seven four seven nine eighty.

Speaker 4 (56:15):
Okay, I even wrote a book which I don't make
any money on. I wanted to give it away free,
but they wouldn't let me on Amazon.

Speaker 7 (56:23):
But it's Welcome to Eighteen.

Speaker 4 (56:25):
It's it's the Life After Age eighteen, Welcome to Adulthood.

Speaker 7 (56:29):
It's on Amazon. And I have my eight hundred number
in there.

Speaker 4 (56:33):
You're not my eight three or three Martino number in
there for people to call if they're trying to get
on their feet. So there, I made my speech. Let me,
let me get off the soapbox. We got more coming
up on the Troubleshooter Show. Go with a sure Thing

we're done with Patricia and advice for her son. I think, yeah,

(57:39):
we got that. Now let's talk to John. John, welcome
to the show. This sounds pretty somber, John. What the
heck's going on?

Speaker 1 (57:53):
John?

Speaker 10 (57:56):
Try and figure it out ourselves.

Speaker 7 (57:58):
Okay, tell me what's going on?

Speaker 5 (58:00):
What?

Speaker 7 (58:01):
Hold on? You're you're breaking up a bit. Let me
let me let you what what are you calling about?

Speaker 4 (58:07):
John? My Son?

Speaker 11 (58:10):
We were pulled by Dadas County Sheriffs.

Speaker 10 (58:12):
That are some short murdered on the morning about twenty
eight this year?

Speaker 7 (58:17):
Okay, is a party?

Speaker 4 (58:20):
It's hold on, man, you're breaking up? Your son was
murdered this year. Hey, Kachina, can we call him back
or something? I mean this, this phone is almost unhearable.
I I I can't really talk to him, and it
sounds very serious to me. Maybe if we re establish connection, John,

(58:42):
are you in a bad cell area?

Speaker 7 (58:46):
Yeah, let me go.

Speaker 10 (58:47):
Let me go somewhere else.

Speaker 4 (58:48):
Okay, you do that. Okay, you do that. I want
to talk to you. This sounds serious to me. And
listen now I can hear you better. I can hear
you better. Tell me what's going on? Tell me what's
going on. I'm good now, Yes you are, You're good.
Go ahead, so yes, I can hear you. Go ahead.

(59:12):
Can you hear me better?

Speaker 19 (59:13):
Now?

Speaker 7 (59:14):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (59:14):
I can go ahead, John, John, we can hear you.

Speaker 7 (59:23):
Just fine, John, we can hear you.

Speaker 4 (59:28):
Okay, Kachina, get on the phone with him. Please, let's
do this off the air. Let's try to establish two
way communication and then I'll get him back on. I
don't know what he was calling about, but let's do that. Okay,
I was. I was talking to these guys off the air.

(59:49):
I read something where jingle bells the song is considered racist. Now, listen,
we joke about a lot of things, and by doing it,
sometimes we marginalize the real problem. For example, sometimes we
read about really exaggerated claims about racism or exaggerated claims

(01:00:13):
about sexism or all of that, and unfortunately, when we
do that, we then probably overlook serious problems that have
to do with racism or sexual harassment or discrimination and
all of that.

Speaker 7 (01:00:30):
So here's the bottom line.

Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
I like talking about these issues, but I don't want
to marginalize racism. There are problems with racism in certain areas,
but in other areas, I believe the claims are exaggerated.
And for the life of me, I can't figure out
why jingle.

Speaker 7 (01:00:51):
Bells is racist.

Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
So I did research on it through of course, the
Internet and artificial intelligence and Google and everything else, and
came up with an explanation that it has uncomfortable historical roots,
and when something has uncomfortable historical roots, it tends to

(01:01:17):
unearth feelings of that time which could have been racist.
Now we'll do more on that, but I want to
go to Tim and I'll tell you why. He's the
owner he says of Colorado Motor Cars, and he wants
to talk. And whenever an owner or a business person
wants to come on the show to address a problem,

(01:01:39):
we will listen one hundred percent.

Speaker 7 (01:01:42):
So Tim, thank you very much. So she Holly.

Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
Called Tim about Colorado Motor Cars and a car she bought.
She said she paid one thousand dollars deposit on a
fourteen thousand dollars deal, and she said it had multiple
problems and she returned it and she wants part of
her deposit back. What I said was she may not

(01:02:09):
have had the right to return it. I have no
idea what she signed. We're totally ignorant about this, but
she already bought another car. So many times in Colorado
there are ways to get out of a deal, but
not always. So what is your input on this? Tim?
Thank you for calling?

Speaker 18 (01:02:28):
Yes, Tom, Hey, thanks for the opportunity brother. I appreciate it.

Speaker 10 (01:02:31):
Okay, So, yeah, the cost situation here.

Speaker 18 (01:02:35):
Very few times in life you get an opportunity to
when you have somebody out there, you know, with social
media nowadays. Yeah, I mean it's tough right ways, but
so in this situation, I appreciate the opportunity.

Speaker 10 (01:02:48):
To sure clear the here, to make me real quick.

Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
Yes, she did come in.

Speaker 17 (01:02:53):
She bought a car.

Speaker 18 (01:02:53):
On an evening about an hour before closing. Comes in,
has a pre approval through credit in Colorado. She has,
she said, she doesn't have the letter with us, but
she has the pre approval and she had some something
but not the code that you normally need to go
with the credit unions. And so then we put her.
We put her on contract as she did buy the

(01:03:16):
car and her name through a credit union here in
town and then takes delivery of the car. That does
give us a down payment and so the very next morning,
obviously the credit unions closed a five. We send her
in that evening. When I get into the office, I
see that she's been turned down because that pre approval

(01:03:36):
was with her husband his information. Also because she didn't
have the income to support.

Speaker 7 (01:03:42):
Okay, so did you and you undid the.

Speaker 4 (01:03:46):
Deal for her?

Speaker 17 (01:03:49):
No, she did.

Speaker 18 (01:03:50):
She just brought the car back and said I don't
want to thee and so she sent in a deal
with her Hello, yeah, I'm here.

Speaker 7 (01:03:58):
We're here, sir. We can hear you. Listen, man, what
is going on with our phones? People?

Speaker 4 (01:04:03):
This is the second time somebody said they can't hear
us channing. Can you troubleshoot that for us? I mean,
I meant this guy was kind enough to come on
the show. Tim If you're listening, we were listening to you, Kaschina,
make contact with him again too. I'm gonna take this

(01:04:23):
break and see if we can work this out. And
then we have Ron on the phone as well. Who
wants to talk about as twenty eleven Jeep Laredo. All

(01:05:33):
Welcome to the show. Three O three seven one three
eight two five five. We're trying to reconnect to Tim
who I believe it was it? No? Is it Tim?

Speaker 7 (01:05:42):
Or was it John? Or so?

Speaker 4 (01:05:43):
No? Somebody it was Tim.

Speaker 9 (01:05:45):
We actually tried to reconnect with them both. John's phone
is not the best for talking purposes. Next Tim, I
left him a message and it's going to voicemail, so
I'm not sure what happened. It sounded like he was
eager to speak with us, so I'm meaning that he

(01:06:07):
calls us back.

Speaker 4 (01:06:08):
Okay, thank you, we are.

Speaker 7 (01:06:13):
We did have a couple of phone issues here and there.

Speaker 20 (01:06:15):
Ron.

Speaker 4 (01:06:16):
Let's talk to you, Hey, Ron, welcome to the show.
Our number is three oh three seven one three eight
two five five. People phone in, let's talk. Let's shoot
the breeze. What's going on, man, about your twenty eleven
jeep Laredo. What's going on? Ron?

Speaker 17 (01:06:31):
I'm trying to help my grandson out and his car.
Just quick move and he's stranded at fourteenth and Wadsworth.

Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
Like right now, stranded like right now?

Speaker 17 (01:06:44):
Yeah, I just I just got him off the street
he was he was on Wadsworth. I pushed him around
the corner.

Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
Okay, tell me about the twenty eleven jeep Laredo.

Speaker 7 (01:06:53):
Tell me about it. How many miles on it?

Speaker 17 (01:06:56):
One hundred and sixty thousand oooh oh oh?

Speaker 4 (01:07:01):
And and how long has he owned it? How long
has he owned it?

Speaker 17 (01:07:05):
He's owned it about year and a half.

Speaker 7 (01:07:09):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
And has he been having any trouble or symptoms at all?

Speaker 17 (01:07:15):
No, not with transmission.

Speaker 7 (01:07:18):
Happened today.

Speaker 17 (01:07:21):
Well, he was driving along and it just quit moving.

Speaker 5 (01:07:23):
So he got it.

Speaker 17 (01:07:24):
He got it in the turn lane and the engine runs.
You put it in gear and you can kind of
hear a whirling sound, and then when you put the
gearshifter in the park, it has a grind while the
internal workings come to a stop. Yeah, that's transmission.

Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
Okay, hold on, okay, so he so this is an
automatic transmission, right, yes, and he tried so it just
stopped moving, and when he puts it into gear, he
hears grinding.

Speaker 17 (01:07:59):
Kind of a grinding, a light grinding wordling kind of sound.
And also, okay, I looked underneath it and there's uh
looked like transmission fluid dripping out of the left front axle.
Uh where it goes into the transfer case.

Speaker 5 (01:08:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:08:18):
Well, that noise that you're hearing when you go into
park is actually the transmission sounds like it's trying to work,
but the transfer case is actually a problem. So it's
kind of like having the transfer case of neutral. Do
you go to put it back in park? Well, the
transmissions in gear, so you're trying to engage that parking
pole while that transmission spinning. Most likely it's a transfer case,
not the transmission.

Speaker 17 (01:08:38):
Okay, gotcha.

Speaker 7 (01:08:41):
Oh so what should he do right now?

Speaker 5 (01:08:44):
Well, obviously it's going to be towed someplace.

Speaker 17 (01:08:48):
So it's it's something like that worth the worth the
money to have it put into this year a.

Speaker 6 (01:08:54):
Car, you know, without looking at it. That's tough to
say without looking at it. And it was kind of
like saying, like, hey, doc, I got a pain on
my chest? How much to make it go away?

Speaker 4 (01:09:02):
You know, Well, let's just talk well, let's talk about
in general. Let's say worst case scenario, this transmission has
to be rebuilt. How much are we.

Speaker 6 (01:09:12):
Talking transfer case itself? You know, low end is probably
somewhere in the neighborhood about fifteen sixteen hundred. Top end
probably closer about twenty eight maybe kiss twenty nine hundred
when the government's done.

Speaker 4 (01:09:24):
But that doesn't that doesn't count the transmission. That's just
the transfer.

Speaker 6 (01:09:29):
Likelihood is isn't that The Transmission's fine? But okay, power
has to go through the transfer case from the transmission
before it can get to the wheels, whether you're in
two wheel drive or four wheels.

Speaker 7 (01:09:39):
Okay, got it, got it?

Speaker 4 (01:09:40):
Now?

Speaker 7 (01:09:41):
How many how about these engines?

Speaker 4 (01:09:44):
Kevin.

Speaker 7 (01:09:44):
One hundred and sixty thousand miles.

Speaker 20 (01:09:47):
What about does he have in there? Is it three
six or five seven? Yeah, it's not the best motor,
but it's it's getting close to the end.

Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
Three six, it's getting close to the end. So so
so here's the deal. How's the body on it? Ron?

Speaker 17 (01:10:04):
His body's good, except for a little minor bender bender
he had on the right front.

Speaker 4 (01:10:10):
Okay, here's the thing, man, What is that car worth? Right? Now?
That's the problem. It's not worth much, right, Okay, so
you know, you gotta you know, but it's it's not
worth much. But it's gonna be worth nothing unless he
fixed the transfer case. If he fixes the transfer case.
How much does he owe on this? Does he owe

(01:10:32):
money on it?

Speaker 17 (01:10:33):
No, it's clear good.

Speaker 4 (01:10:36):
If he puts a transfer case in it, he'll get
his money out of it.

Speaker 5 (01:10:41):
Yeah, because you can't replace that car for three grand.

Speaker 4 (01:10:44):
No, he'll get his money. It's worth doing that. So
that's what he's going to have to do.

Speaker 5 (01:10:53):
Run the block for me.

Speaker 4 (01:10:54):
Yeah, he's right around the block. He's right around the
block from Sheridan Auto Tech on Colfax, west of Wadsworth.
So hold on, Ron, we'll get you directions. He needs

Speaker 4 (01:12:42):
Listen to this one twenty five hundred dollars right now
for a computerized whole house water softening system. It's the
lowest price you'll ever find. Plumbers can't touch this. For
under ten grand, they can't touch it. Twenty five hundred
dollars whole house water softening right now, Waterpros dot net
three zero three eight six two five five five four.

(01:13:02):
It's only to the end of the year, so you
only have the rest of this month, which is a
half a month left, twenty five hundred bucks. Waterpros dot
net three zero three eight six two five five five four.
Is Ron off right now? Because we don't really there's
not much we can tell Ron. He was talking about
his son's twenty eleven GPI. He's done, So let's talk
to Jeff Fick and Kevin Caulkin as we wind up

(01:13:25):
the year. Okay, I have a text Tom, are parts
still a problem?

Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
It's the daily grind of a problem.

Speaker 6 (01:13:36):
We were just talking about that earlier, because I mean,
nobody has sufficient inventory. You're constantly reaching out, not even
just all over the state, all over the nation getting
the stuff in that we need in order to fix
your car. So the stuff that we were able to
do in two to three days, you know, I tell
everybody plan on five to ten business days, and if
I can get it done faster, I will.

Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
Now, if the car is drivable, have you ever done
it where you'll you'll order the stuff and then wait
for it to come in before they drop their car off.

Speaker 5 (01:14:04):
Isn't that what it depends on?

Speaker 6 (01:14:05):
I mean, whenever possible possible, you can do stuff like that.
But if i'm special ordering parts for your car, then
you know, that's one of the few times I do
take money up front because I don't need, you know,
to order in component A for your car and then
you get t boned and now I'm stuck with a
part that I can't use or stock.

Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
So, oh, you don't You don't like doing that, is
what you're well, what if they pay for the part
up front? Well, what if they pay for it upfront?

Speaker 6 (01:14:30):
No, that's what I just said, I'll go out and
take for it up front, but I won't order unless
I have the vehicle there, unless you're willing to pay
for it up.

Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
Front, right right, That's what I meant. Yeah, I did
that with a body shop. I said, look, why am
I going to let my car sit there for six weeks?
They said it could be six weeks to get body parts.
Think about that, guys, I mean that's unheard of six weeks?

Speaker 20 (01:14:58):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
Because they just got lazy during COVID and figured we're
no longer going to keep inventory.

Speaker 6 (01:15:06):
Yeah, and they've they've conditioned you know, the consumer that
waiting is okay. So you know the stuff that they were.

Speaker 7 (01:15:12):
It never went back to normal, did it never?

Speaker 10 (01:15:15):
No?

Speaker 6 (01:15:15):
I mean a few things have gotten better, but it
definitely hasn't gone back to normal, you know. And just
watching the way our suppliers inventory things in different areas,
I think a lot of it also has to do
with paying attention to you know, taxes on inventory.

Speaker 5 (01:15:28):
Yes, definitely in the Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:15:32):
So do you guys have to have do you have
to fill out an inventory sheet and pay tax on it?

Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:15:37):
Yeah, it's part of your property. Yeah absolutely yes.

Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
God, So wait a minute, so even if you paid
for it once, you have to pay for it again.

Speaker 5 (01:15:46):
That's property taxes every year.

Speaker 4 (01:15:49):
So if you have if you keep a stock of inventory,
it gets more expensive every single year.

Speaker 7 (01:15:55):
You have to add to it the cost of tax.

Speaker 6 (01:15:57):
Yeah, it gets added or deleted. I mean you use
it against your returns. But right that taxes exists.

Speaker 4 (01:16:03):
By the way, there is an organization called Golden Lemon.
What Golden Lemon does is keeps tracks. It keeps track
of cars and they put out a watch list, a
twenty twenty five car to avoid watch list for potential lemons.

(01:16:26):
I don't know how they did this, since the cars well,
when I say twenty twenty five cars to avoid, they're
out now, I guess they have Do they have enough time?

Speaker 7 (01:16:37):
I guess they do.

Speaker 4 (01:16:38):
But they put this, this twenty twenty five list came out.
Let me see when it came out. It came out
pretty early in the year. I was just surprised. But
what they said. They they said that there are a
lot of lemons out there. Okay, and here's what's happening.
Common Lemon car defects. The most common is engine. Of course,

(01:17:05):
something in the engine, then faulty brake systems are second. Third,
transmission issues, then coolant and oil leaks, then steering system malfunctions.
Now we're not talking about necessarily just problem areas. We're
talking about manufacturer problems, you know, right out of the gate.

(01:17:29):
And here is who they say to watch out for.
Ford for critical transmission problems. Do you guys agree?

Speaker 6 (01:17:40):
Yeah, this last few years, that definitely been a problem
for widespread malfunctions.

Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
Widespread. Now they say not just transmissions, but the infotainment systems. Kevin,
you guys do electrical issues?

Speaker 7 (01:17:57):
Have you seen that?

Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
Ford? They say have bad infotainment and bad electronics. Let
me get this straight. Did I is Ford the one
that took over Jaguar? Who took over Jaguar? They did
for a while. Yeah, they had them for a while.
I'm not entirely sure who's got them because remember Jaguar
Lucas Electrics, It was a joke that you couldn't I mean,

(01:18:20):
I don't do is Lucas electric still a thing? Is
that still?

Speaker 7 (01:18:24):
Do they still?

Speaker 4 (01:18:25):
Who owns Jaguar right now? I don't even know is
Jaguar orphaned or are they on their own parent companies?

Speaker 6 (01:18:32):
Ford's part of it, Tata motors. Who I guess there
is probably a Japanese or a Chinese manufactured expert Tata Tata.

Speaker 7 (01:18:41):
I believe that's Chinese.

Speaker 5 (01:18:43):
British motor holdings and land Rover.

Speaker 4 (01:18:47):
God almighty, you're talking about the worst owners you can
have other than for I mean, you're talking about Chinese
together with English. The English don't know how to build
a car. I mean, they do know how to make
it pretty, but my god, do they? In fact, I
believe English cars have some of the best finish and trim.
I mean, yes, they're absolutely stunning the English. But man,

(01:19:12):
when it comes to electric systems, where electrical or electronic? Okay,
so Ford critical transmission breakdowns you can expect. And by
the way, they went back a year and then went
into twenty twenty five, and they say there's a good
possibility that these problems could span into twenty twenty six.

(01:19:39):
So you guys agree with the critical transmission breakdowns for Ford?
What about this Chevrolet for severe engine performance issues?

Speaker 7 (01:19:50):
What does that mean?

Speaker 20 (01:19:51):
They're having a lot of trouble with their truck engines.
This six point two is turning into a nightmare.

Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
Oil consumption and persistent overheating.

Speaker 7 (01:20:02):
Do you agree. Yep, see this is a good list.

Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
Man.

Speaker 7 (01:20:06):
This Golden Lemon turned out to be golden.

Speaker 4 (01:20:08):
I didn't know what it was, and I looked them
up and I thought, these people seem to have credibility
and I don't even know what they do.

Speaker 7 (01:20:16):
Let's see about them. What do they do?

Speaker 4 (01:20:18):
Let me see about Golden Lemon.

Speaker 7 (01:20:20):
Because our team and award winning attorneys.

Speaker 4 (01:20:23):
Oh, they are attorneys that fight for car owners. What
a great idea for a website. People, Holy crap. They
put together all of this information and they call it
Goldenlemon dot com.

Speaker 7 (01:20:43):
You heard it first on the Troubleshooter Show.

Speaker 4 (01:20:46):
Okay, So Chevrolet also has dangerous break system deficiencies. Have
you known that to be so? Silverado trucks, especially premature
where what do you guys think that?

Speaker 5 (01:21:00):
That's That's not a common known I've never run into that.

Speaker 4 (01:21:04):
Okay, so that's not so. What about the end. But
the engine performance, yes.

Speaker 20 (01:21:09):
Certain engines, yes, you know they all. The six point
two is the bigger engine. The bigger V eight is
a problem.

Speaker 5 (01:21:15):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
Just now we have more on this list. We have
more on this list. We can talk about coming up.

three eight two five five.

Speaker 7 (01:22:51):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:22:52):
So here is something that I don't understand, and I'll
figure it out. But I don't understand it is. It's
a news story, and I want to know if other
people have the same reaction to this news story as
I have here it is counterfeit. Denver Broncos Jerseys Okay

(01:23:14):
have seen a one hundred and twenty one percent rise
in popularity each month since September, and the Denver Broncos
have missed out on one point six million dollars in
Jersey revenue in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
Looks for what they charge for the shirts, they only
need to sell.

Speaker 7 (01:23:36):
Too much to catch up.

Speaker 4 (01:23:36):
So what I'm getting at is, hold on this is
a story. Wanting to know if I want to interview
someone about this saying that the headline is that not
the headline, but the first paragraph that Denver Broncos are
losing one point six million a year in Jersey revenue
or in twenty twenty five alone in Jersey revenue. So

(01:23:58):
because there's been a one hundred and twenty one percent
rise in popularity. So do we listen. I don't mean
to be a jerk about this, and I don't think
counterfeit anything is a good idea. Okay, No, I don't
think people should counterfeit, although people counterfeit everything. Louis Vautan,
I mean, in fact, probably most Louis Vatan you see

(01:24:19):
are most whatever, Gucci and all the others, Coach and
all those, they're probably counterfeit, most of them. I mean,
there's so much counterfeit stuff out there, Like who's going
to spend twenty five grand for a purse when they
can spend you know, two hundred and fifty and it
looks just like it. But do you what was the

(01:24:42):
at first blush? Did you go boohoo boo? Who you're
seriously when I said that the Broncos in twenty twenty
five will lose one point six million dollars in Jersey revenue,
do you care? I don't know. I don't think now.
I don't think, well, they deserve it, are good for them? No,

(01:25:04):
I don't think that at all. But I don't see
the news story there. But the experts warn the dangers
of buying fakes. What are the dangers. They say sixty
five hundred Broncos fans have purchased one bootlegged Bronco jersey

(01:25:26):
at least or sometimes more.

Speaker 7 (01:25:28):
But what is it?

Speaker 4 (01:25:30):
Says worrying New research has revealed the most counterfeit jerseys
in the NFL. Guess what, Denver Bronco is one of
the most counterfeited teams. Counterfeited teams, and people love bo
Nicks jerseys.

Speaker 7 (01:25:48):
You know why.

Speaker 4 (01:25:49):
That's a cool name to have on the back, Nicks
and that's just a cool name. The data revealed that
where that the Broncos are in the top ten most
counterfeited jerseys.

Speaker 5 (01:26:03):
Prey.

Speaker 4 (01:26:04):
But they still haven't told me what the danger is.
They say there's a danger in buying fake jerseys. Does
anybody I mean, what am I not getting? By the
how is this a news.

Speaker 21 (01:26:17):
Story labeled correctly with the proper materials? Say they're made
out of something that somebody may be allergic to.

Speaker 4 (01:26:23):
I just don't get it. I mean, listen, I don't
think it's a good thing that our favorite sports team
is losing out on revenue. They say lost revenue in
twenty twenty five will be about one point six million.
I think they said no, and then another one said less. Yeah,
one point six million, yeah, one point So.

Speaker 5 (01:26:43):
Curious are we really talking about it?

Speaker 21 (01:26:45):
It's counterfeit or it's just not licensed by the Denver
Broncos material because you know, I can go out and
I can put a Broncos logo on any shirt I have. Now,
is that counterfeit or is that just not licensed?

Speaker 7 (01:27:00):
Ah?

Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
That's a good point. In other words, poor quality? Is
it poor quality? The NFL warns Americans to be cautious
when buying online to make sure it is genuine. Do
you think I'll guarantee you that no one cares. I
can't think of one person that would not or that
would decide not to buy because it's not licensed. They

(01:27:24):
mentioned here the NFL licensing. Make sure you have genuine
NFL licensing. Now tell me, honest to god, I want
to know one person. Come on YouTube, morons, you give
me instant feedback or text me. The other people can
text me. Let me give you that text number out,
but but you tell me the text number seven four seven,

(01:27:48):
nine fifty to eighty. But please, someone tell me if
you will care if it has a genuine NFL license?
Who would care? Okay? Here are the most popular NFL
jerseys in the US that are fake.

Speaker 7 (01:28:07):
Who do you think the number one faked jersey is?

Speaker 4 (01:28:10):
Who do you think? I don't know. I don't know why.
Philadelphia Eagles. That's the number one fake. The number two
fake Detroit Lions. Does anyone care whether or not they
get a genuinely licensed NFL jersey? Please tell me? Okay,

(01:28:33):
I'm getting a text here that says, I don't give
a rats you know what.

Speaker 7 (01:28:37):
That's what somebody said.

Speaker 4 (01:28:39):
Somebody else said, would you like it if they ripped
off your IP? Well? No, but it's under the category
of who cares? This is a news story that was
sent to me. Well, I am reading it right. They
wanted me to read it, but they want me to
interview an expert on the danger, not the danger, I guess.

(01:29:00):
They call it the on warnings not to buy it.
The number two Detroit Lions, So the Eagles must have
some cool jersey or something. The Lions, number two, number three,
Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 7 (01:29:13):
The Steelers are number four.

Speaker 4 (01:29:14):
You're wondering where the Broncos are, right, take your guess.
Number five, the Buffalo Bills, number six, Baltimore Ravens, and
the Broncos number seven. I don't mean the number seven jersey,
but I mean they're number seven in the list of
the top twenty most.

Speaker 7 (01:29:34):
Ripped off jerseys.

Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
Okay, some of the jerseys that no one gives a
rats butt about Arizona Cardinals and the Washington Commanders, the
Jacksonville Jaguars, the Houston Texans, the New York Jets. Yeah,
but anyway, I thought you'd like to hear that news
story in case you wanted to be sure for your

(01:29:59):
Christmas shop being that you make sure it's genuinely licensed.
As Dragon brought up, you know, they weren't talking about
the materials. I thought they were going to tell us
that there was some flammable material or something, and you
got to beware. No, it has nothing to do with that.
It has to do with the license. So if you

(01:30:19):
care about the license, they say you should. I wonder,
by the way, if Amazon has unlicensed stuff on it.

Speaker 7 (01:30:28):
You know what do you think? I never even thought
of that?

Speaker 21 (01:30:31):
Or I can sell something on Amazon it doesn't have
to be licensed. Like I said, I can just slap
a Broncos logo on any T shirt I have and
sell it.

Speaker 4 (01:30:38):
Would they let you? I wonder. Yeah, I don't know
what it takes to become a seller on Amazon.

Speaker 5 (01:30:45):
Your eBay or any of those guys.

Speaker 20 (01:30:47):
Oh yeah, we've gotten bootleg parts from eBay that were
labeled and boxed as.

Speaker 4 (01:30:52):
A week really.

Speaker 5 (01:30:53):
Oh actually yeah all the time from you.

Speaker 4 (01:30:56):
Well, that's that's different than Amazon. Amazon is Well, that's different.

Speaker 5 (01:31:01):
How it happened through Amazon as well.

Speaker 4 (01:31:04):
Okay, Neil, welcome to the show. What's going on with
your nineteen ninety Plymouth laser? Oh my god? That should
be in a museum. What's going on? Neil? Are you there? Neil?

Speaker 10 (01:31:19):
Yeah, go ahead, have under control. I've been listening to
you since nineteen sixty nine. Wow, I retired Air Force.

Speaker 13 (01:31:29):
Guy and I'm in Carra Springs. Yeah, nineteen ninety Plymouth laser,
the best little car I ever had.

Speaker 1 (01:31:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 18 (01:31:38):
Run, But you know what my.

Speaker 13 (01:31:40):
Problem is is the advisor on the driver's side is
flopping around. I tried everything with tape to hold it
up and everything, but I.

Speaker 10 (01:31:53):
Need to position it since the sun is.

Speaker 13 (01:31:56):
Low on the horizon here lately, and that blinds me
temporarily because I'm looking directly into the sun a lot
of times, so I.

Speaker 7 (01:32:06):
Needed adjusted or do you.

Speaker 13 (01:32:08):
Know where I can get a new visor to fit it.

Speaker 10 (01:32:12):
Exactly like original.

Speaker 13 (01:32:19):
Manufacturer. Maybe you think.

Speaker 10 (01:32:22):
NAPA might have it perhaps, guys.

Speaker 20 (01:32:26):
No doubt, like the Eclipse and the Eagle Talent and
a few others. I mean you can broaden that a
little bit. I think it's two or three as you know, you.

Speaker 4 (01:32:37):
Had, and it was it just friction that held us
that in place. Guys.

Speaker 6 (01:32:41):
Usually some of them was friction, but a lot of
them had de tense in them where they kind of
clicked into place their soft details.

Speaker 13 (01:32:47):
That would be nice.

Speaker 6 (01:32:49):
But I mean you might just be able to go
over to you know, a good interior guy. They might
be able to you know, or build.

Speaker 4 (01:32:56):
Yeah, the way they did, they would rewrap it and
make it tighter, and that vinyl around it or leather
would cause a friction.

Speaker 13 (01:33:05):
You know, right, yeah, uh yeah, I tried tape, but
the tape gets hot in this.

Speaker 4 (01:33:14):
Yeah, I'm looking at one, believe it or not. I
found I found some new ones for not new, well
they look damn new.

Speaker 7 (01:33:21):
I actually found.

Speaker 4 (01:33:22):
Some for sale for the nineteen ninety for the Plymouth, Yeah,
nineteen ninety Plymouth laser sun visors. They look damn new,
and you can they unscrew they that bracket that holds them? Mind,
you replace that whole bracket the visor's attached with.

Speaker 7 (01:33:40):
And it's all it is is friction. Guys.

Speaker 4 (01:33:43):
That's what this one is.

Speaker 10 (01:33:45):
And I mean, what are they cost?

Speaker 4 (01:33:47):
And where do you get them? Okay, well I'm looking here,
I'm looking you see them on eBay.

Speaker 5 (01:33:51):
But they're like three hundred dollars for a pair?

Speaker 7 (01:33:54):
Oh is that how much it was? I didn't see
the price?

Speaker 10 (01:33:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:33:58):
Is that? Are you looking at the dark blue the
gray ones or dark blue? Yes? Exactly? So those how
much do they want.

Speaker 5 (01:34:06):
For the most for the pair? Or best offer? So
you get both?

Speaker 7 (01:34:12):
Now I saw some people.

Speaker 4 (01:34:14):
Now I did see one where you can add God,
it's amazing what you can find on the internet. Here's
one where you can add friction to it. So, in
other words, what you do is you go up to
where it's attached and you add this little bracket. It's
there's even a number of part number. I don't know
where you get this. All I'm seeing is a picture

(01:34:36):
of it. It's TKG eighty one thirty. Yeah, you ought
to just do some searching on the internet. Pal, I mean,
but if you have a nineteen If you have a
nineteen ninety Plymouth laser, you may not have the Internet.
I'm not sure. Do you have an eye?

Speaker 10 (01:34:53):
Well, you're almost right.

Speaker 13 (01:34:54):
I have a little tablet, but I struggled use these
things because I'm anti computer, a kind of because I'm
twenty years out from one hundred and so you're eighty
eighty one January nineteenth.

Speaker 7 (01:35:14):
You're an old fart.

Speaker 13 (01:35:17):
No.

Speaker 10 (01:35:17):
No, I've been listening to you a long time there.

Speaker 4 (01:35:20):
I know you have, and I appreciate it. I appreciate it.

Speaker 10 (01:35:25):
Neil Peter boyled, Oh.

Speaker 7 (01:35:27):
My god, he's an old fart too.

Speaker 13 (01:35:30):
No, not really, but I you know, I started out
at INT and I've been all over. I've been in
the Chilow building here, you know where Fargo's Pizza is.

Speaker 4 (01:35:42):
Yeah. What do you Neil? Neil? Are you a native No?

Speaker 13 (01:35:48):
I was born in Newark, New Jersey.

Wow.

Speaker 13 (01:36:09):

Hi Tom Martino, you're a troubleshooter. Yes, if you have

(01:37:27):
sympathy for the Broncos losing one point six million in revenue.
Cry in your coffee because that's what they lost this year.
I shouldn't make fun of that, I guess. I mean,
they're a great team. We should want them to make
every penny they can with us, right, What are our
ticket prices outrageous? Who are the most Tell me about

(01:37:50):
ticket pricing? I don't even know. Is it standardized across
the NFL? Or can teams make their own price? Does
anyone know to make their own price? Really? Okay? Okay?
I wonder what ticket prices are across the NFL.

Speaker 6 (01:38:06):
And then if you can even get the tickets from them,
usually you're buying them second hand and they're two and
three times the price.

Speaker 7 (01:38:14):
Okay, I met if you win a lot, you can.

Speaker 4 (01:38:17):
And if you can't, because I mean, listen, the Broncos
are doing great this year. Do you think they're going
to make it to the super Bowl? By the way,
I'm just curious.

Speaker 5 (01:38:27):
No, probably not, but they'll they'll get in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Now, by the way, somebody wants to know, isn't there
a place where you can go and buy all things cars?
Is JC Whitney still around? They want to know, all
you have to do is go on and see. I
don't know if they're still around here. Do you remember
the place called JC Whitney.

Speaker 6 (01:38:45):
Yeah, they had old deep parts and stuff. Yeah, but
I mean, no place is going to carry everything you need.
It's it's not possible. The closest you're going to get
this is some of your online sources.

Speaker 20 (01:38:58):
Yeah, rock Otto and some of those are really diversified,
but they just drop ship so they got multiple warehouses.

Speaker 4 (01:39:06):
Okay, so the most expensive teams. Now, by the way,
the ticket prices aren't necessarily published ticket prices, but the
actual price people are paying. Do you want to know
what the Detroit Lions are Number one? Number one? Why
would they be? They must have some diehard fans. Three

(01:39:26):
hundred eighty five dollars for each ticket. That's the average
get in price, the average what people are paying average
to get into a game. Three hundred eighty five dollars.
What are you kidding me? And then the Eagles three

(01:39:48):
hundred eighteen dollars. For goodness sakes, what do you think
the cheapest team is? What do you think to take
a gas the Arizona cheapest team?

Speaker 5 (01:39:56):
Arizona.

Speaker 4 (01:39:58):
No, no, no, Arizona is actually, let's see Arizona, Arizona
is in the top or the low ten, the low ten,
I believe. But Tennessee Titans only sixty four dollars.

Speaker 6 (01:40:14):
What if your YouTubers actually just posted on it. At
last week some of the Browns and Tennessee tickets were
going for seven dollars.

Speaker 4 (01:40:23):
Oh my god. See that's Tennessee sixty four bucks. So
that was the average price. So you're right, there might
be some at seven bucks. That's the thing, man, you know,

Speaker 7 (01:41:44):
I'm sorry, I don't believe it. Not this is not Colorado.

Speaker 4 (01:41:47):
That seven in ten car buyers now see dealers as trustworthy.
Seven and ten. So another words, the majority of people
right now feel that car dealers are trustworthy, and that

(01:42:08):
is up substantially from even twenty twenty three.

Speaker 5 (01:42:14):
Who wrote that article, Dylan Doug, This was.

Speaker 4 (01:42:17):
Written by a car dealer association, and this is guys
called the car dealership. Now this is and this is
called the car dealership guys. Part of that. He has
a podcast and all that, but he is saying that no, no, no, Actually,
the actual survey was done by Capital One and they

(01:42:40):
say that two thirds of the people now find dealerships
trustworthy and trust them enough not to read the contracts.
Holy crap. Less by the way less than half of
the people just two years ago. So why are people
finding dealers more trustworthy now? Why because I look at Okay,

(01:43:03):
here's the way I find here's the car buying business
from a consumer advocate who takes calls every single day,
all right, and emails and all of that. Do you
know what the biggest problem is? What do you think
the big the biggest problem are used car dealers. Those
are the biggest problems. Used car dealers that hide problems. Okay,

(01:43:24):
they just hide problems. Now, by the way, speaking of
hiding problems, here's another thing. What do you think the
biggest thing that used car I went back to my records.

Speaker 7 (01:43:36):
What do you think?

Speaker 4 (01:43:38):
What do you think when people complain to me about
hidden problems in a used car or they didn't get the.

Speaker 7 (01:43:43):
Car checked down?

Speaker 4 (01:43:44):
You know, we hear it all the time, right, guys,
it's always this way. I bought a car, it drove nice,
or my friend you know, looked at it, or what
you fill in the blank, right, and Kevin, you know,
because you you do use car checkouts, right, And I'll
bet you you've had people tell me I'm lying or

(01:44:06):
I'm dying. How many people have come to you after
they already purchased it for a checkout.

Speaker 20 (01:44:11):
We call it the post purchase in Yeah, they just
want to see what the car needs before they you know,
get too far.

Speaker 4 (01:44:17):
Yeah yeah, yeah, but some of them think, can I
get my money back?

Speaker 20 (01:44:21):
I mean, we get these called lemon law and you
know that they used cars of course, of course, all right,
so what do you think the number one problem is, Kevin,
Probably no engine problems.

Speaker 4 (01:44:31):
The number one problem for used cars that you don't
get checked out are engine problems. According to my records,
and I'm an authority on this. Mark and I are
both authorities, I should say, with all of our records.
Here's another thing. Title is number two. I have found
when I went back to my records, they had problems

(01:44:52):
with titles. You know, I don't recall any recently, but
I had a ton of them. I had a ton
of them last year, and then during COVID, Oh my god,
there were a lot title problems. Okay, that's either that's
either skipping title where they can't find the signature, or
it was something wrong with the title. The other one

(01:45:14):
was mileage. That high mileage was a big problem in
almost every one of our problem purchases high mileage. Why,
I swear to you how many times have we heard
people they call they bought a car with one hundred
and fifty thousand or more and they're surprise when they

(01:45:38):
have a problem. Isn't it safe to say with one
hundred thousand miles or more you will have problems. With
one hundred and fifty thousand or more you will have
serious problems, and with two hundred thousand or more you
will have catastrophic problems.

Speaker 7 (01:45:54):
You agree with all that, guys, absolutely.

Speaker 4 (01:45:58):
I mean one hundred kevin. So on the pre pre
buy inspections are a lot of them approaching one hundred
thousand miles. That's where prices have I mean, to get
prices down, that's what a lot of buyers are doing.

Speaker 20 (01:46:10):
Yeah, most that we see you're between eighty and one
hundred and twenty because anything over one hundred fifty hundred
and sixty they're not going to spend the money for
a pre purchase.

Speaker 4 (01:46:19):
Oh, you're right, you're right, And pre purchase is what
only one hundred and twenty bucks?

Speaker 5 (01:46:24):
Twenty bucks?

Speaker 4 (01:46:25):
Yes, So engine problems were the biggest problem we came
up with. Title was another one. High mileage, and then
we'll tell you some others like car history. The history
is wrong, car facts is wrong. Something to do with
the history of the car was off. Something else is
coming up. I'll let you know. Get your calls in

Hello, I'm Tom Martino. Welcome to the show's card day. Today,
we have Jeff Fick from Chimera Transmissions. We have Kevin
Colkin from Sheridan Auto Tech. This hour brought to you

(01:48:05):
course testosterone and hormone replacement Denver Regen dot com. I
can't emphasize enough the stem cell therapy Denver Regen dot com. Hey,
welcome to the show. If you have a problem, question
or playing, give us a call. I do want to
revisit something I've had many requests on and people have

(01:48:25):
missed it. But I will do that in a second.
You know, we were talking about cars and there was
something I wanted to bring up here. Do you know
that nationwide that there was a survey done on pricing guys?
Do you find this in Denver? For example? This is
consumer This is a good organization. It's called checkbook dot

(01:48:48):
org by the ways, it's one of the consumer organizations
I subscribe to. Do you know that they did surveys
on repair shops? Right? Can you believe that there were prices,
for example, for a water pump ranging from three dollars
to almost one thousand dollars? Can you there's that much

(01:49:10):
of a discrepancy? Have you found that in Denver where
there is a giant. Now, let's eliminate shade tree mechanic
for people who work out.

Speaker 7 (01:49:19):
Of their house, who aren't really a mechanic.

Speaker 4 (01:49:22):
But let's say, shops, what discrepancies have you found? Have
you ever been told I can get this done for
this price or have you ever checked other people's prices?

Speaker 7 (01:49:31):
Guys?

Speaker 20 (01:49:32):
Well, we yeah, we price up all the time, and
you know, sometimes it's markup. Sometimes it's quality of parts.
You know, we'll use an OI part and they're using
the cheapest one they found on eBay or something.

Speaker 5 (01:49:43):
I mean, but yeah, we price up it all the time.

Speaker 20 (01:49:46):
We try to stay we don't want to be the cheapest,
but you know, we're just fair.

Speaker 4 (01:49:50):
But what discrepancies have you found, Like, like, have you
ever found like where you're really to give me a
price where you're really inexpensive compared to what you've seen?

Speaker 20 (01:50:03):
Give me an idea an expensive not so much, but
I mean, you know, like breaks, for example, I will
not use cheap brakes. So some places can do it
for fifty percent of what we're getting, but it's it's
apples and oranges, you know. But on a list it
may look like a discrepancy.

Speaker 4 (01:50:21):
Okay, Now here's the other thing I want to say.
There was a guy he just texted me and he said,
Dimitri likes to do something the expert, and he thought
we were doing that today we're not. But he did
have a cool problem I wanted to bring up. Hey,
tom my car, listen to this. They said to ask Kevin,

(01:50:42):
my car battery dies when I'm parked at a supermarket
that I go to a lot or my home depot. Okay,
Now they wanted to know why, and they know why.
They want to know why that his battery would drain

(01:51:02):
tremendously when he was parked outside of his favorite supermarket.
He didn't say where it was. He called it a
grocery store and home depot. And he found the problem,
and he believes he found the problem, and he said
that he went to the dealer and they confirmed it

(01:51:23):
and fixed it.

Speaker 7 (01:51:24):
What do you think happened? Why Why would it.

Speaker 5 (01:51:30):
At home depot?

Speaker 4 (01:51:31):
No, it do no, because he works at home depots,
so it'll drain every time, but not at home for
the same amount of time. Only when he's at home depot.
And then I don't know how he got to the
grocery store part of it. He didn't name the grocery store,
but he does work at home depot. So why would
a car sitting out of home depots for eight hours?

(01:51:52):
Why would it drain? But it doesn't drain when it's
sitting at home for eight hours? Any ideas, guys, Because
he found I mean, I have the answer, he found
the problem. How about my YouTube morons? Before I give
the answer, I just want to know you just think
about it for a while, think about it. And this
is a real deal. He said, it's a stumpy expert.
Well come found the deal. Oh hold on, let me see.

(01:52:15):
I don't believe he did.

Speaker 5 (01:52:16):
Not that it would matter, but I was just curious.

Speaker 4 (01:52:19):
No, he didn't say no, he didn't say it was
just a something expert kind of thing.

Speaker 7 (01:52:24):
So no, no, I'll tell you about it coming out.

Speaker 20 (01:52:27):
I won't.

Speaker 4 (01:52:27):
I won't leave you.

Speaker 7 (01:52:29):
I leave you suspended.

Speaker 4 (01:52:30):
But speaking of cars, so I think I have figured
out how to play.

Speaker 7 (01:52:34):
This, although Dragon has access to it.

Speaker 4 (01:52:36):
But Dragon, I think I found out how to play
this sound this This goes back to earlier, this last
week or the week before whatever, we had this guy,
and I can't help but bring this up again. Besides,
a couple of people have asked about it. It was
a body wrap place. Okay, you know, the wraps on cars.
I don't know why people do wraps on cars. First

(01:52:58):
of all, I don't think they look good, and I
don't know, I just think they're bad deals. But people
are doing wraps now, They're ordering white cars and doing wraps.
Have you guys run across servicing cars with wraps on them.
I'm afraid they you know, aren't they delicate? I mean?

Speaker 7 (01:53:16):
Or are they pretty hard?

Speaker 6 (01:53:17):
I mean yeah, I mean, just don't want to rub
it up against the side of the building or anything
like that. But you know, they actually last for a
few years. And the nice thing about it is cheap,
so if you get tired of having a red car,
you can.

Speaker 7 (01:53:29):
Well they're not that cheap, are they.

Speaker 4 (01:53:31):
They're a couple of grand aren't they.

Speaker 6 (01:53:32):
They're a significantly cheaper and you can do what you're
design you want on it. So you get tired of
your car in two years, and you know you can
get one with Dragon's face.

Speaker 5 (01:53:42):
On the hood.

Speaker 4 (01:53:44):
Okay, well, in any case, I wouldn't do that ever.
But this guy went to a place to get wrapped.
He didn't like the materials the guy delivered or the
guy ordered. Okay, and this guy's name is Anthony York.
I'm trying to find the problem here. I got to
bring it up here, okay, Anthony York. And he was

(01:54:05):
with a place called come on Up MG custom Final
Anthony Yorke. This guy's out of business. Now, I'm sure
he's out of business because he was nowhere to be found.
His phone's disconnected, so don't bother calling it people. But anyway,
here's what's weird about this is Matthew hired or wanted

(01:54:27):
to hire Anthony to do his rap and he didn't
like the material, and Anthony said, I'll give your money back,
but I'm going to charge you to ship the material
back to the factory. That's all very reasonable, but you know,
Anthony would have been totally within his rights to say, sorry,

(01:54:49):
I'm not giving the deposit back. I ordered the stuff
and I'm willing to do the rap. Truly, Anthony in
writing never promised three M material.

Speaker 7 (01:55:01):
Matthew wanted three M material.

Speaker 4 (01:55:04):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (01:55:04):
Now Anthony might have mentioned three M.

Speaker 4 (01:55:07):
I don't know. He's such a liar he could have
and then went back on it. But according to Matthew,
he wanted his money back, and even Anthony admits that
he was okay with it. He was going to charge
about one hundred and forty bucks for shipping back to
the factory, and he was going to keep, excuse me,

(01:55:27):
one hundred and forty and then give back like eight
hundred and sixty or eight hundred and fifty whatever. So
after waiting for his refund, Matthew got anxious, He got
tired of waiting, he got frustrated. So Matthew asked sheriff's
deputies if they would accompany him to the house, to

(01:55:48):
Anthony's house to collect his money. Now, by the way,
that's called a civil assist. A lot of people when
we talked about this problems that I don't believe you
can get the police to come to you as private security.
Blah blah blah. It's called a civil assist, and sheriff's
deputies do it all the time. Okay, So I don't know,
you know, I guess they have to have the time

(01:56:10):
to do it. But in this case, they did it.
We have the bodycam footage to prove it. They did
a civil assist, and Matthew went to this house and
he went to get the money and he took.

Speaker 7 (01:56:25):
The deputies with him.

Speaker 4 (01:56:26):
And I'll tell you what happened coming up, because people
have asked about it, but I want to take a
quick break first, and Kevin will get started on your
problem as well.

Speaker 7 (01:56:34):
What is your problem?

Speaker 4 (01:56:35):
Kevin? On your transmission?

Speaker 19 (01:56:39):
A Canary?

Speaker 4 (01:56:44):
Yeah we can. You have a twenty one fifty? What's
going on with it?

Speaker 19 (01:56:49):
In six gear point along hills? I think the transmission
is slipping?

Speaker 7 (01:56:56):
Okay, you want to know why converter?

Speaker 12 (01:57:00):
I was.

Speaker 19 (01:57:01):
I was wondering if I if I'm gonna what would
it cost to rebuild the transmission or should I buy
one that's already rebuilt like a monster?

Speaker 5 (01:57:09):
Monster is no no, no, no no no no no
a monster. Well, so let's just start with that.

Speaker 6 (01:57:16):
I don't have an actual opinion on them, but I'm
gonna tell you what.

Speaker 4 (01:57:19):
What is? What is monster?

Speaker 5 (01:57:21):
Jess? What is the builder?

Speaker 6 (01:57:22):
They sell all around the country. They have a reputation
inside the industry.

Speaker 7 (01:57:31):
So, okay, here's what I want to know.

Speaker 4 (01:57:34):
What what how many miles on this f one fifty
one hundred.

Speaker 16 (01:57:40):
And fifty nine.

Speaker 5 (01:57:42):
The case? So?

Speaker 19 (01:57:43):
Is it been expertly maintained? By our friends at Sheridan
Auto Tay fluid and filter change every thirty thousand.

Speaker 5 (01:57:51):
Well, you're definitely so curb. Most people don't even do that.

Speaker 4 (01:57:55):
And so when climbing hills is slipping.

Speaker 19 (01:57:59):
Yeah, long draw like I drove from here to Albuquerque
and and and it seemed like it was. It was
slipping in sixth gear or I don't want to say
it was hunting, but you know, you can see on
the on the dash it tells you what year you're in,
and it never it never changed gear. So I'm assuming

(01:58:19):
it was some kind of slippage, but it was. It
was definitely not normal.

Speaker 5 (01:58:23):
Well, I mean, the.

Speaker 6 (01:58:24):
First thing to really do is check it out and
verify if it was a slip. I mean you could
also have something like a fan clutch going out, which
will make it sound like the enginees running much much harder,
So I mean just chasing the transmission. It may not
even be that. So first thing is a proper dieg
and confirm what's going on.

Speaker 4 (01:58:43):
Okay, Well, and what would it cost though to rebuild
if he did it, what would it cost?

Speaker 5 (01:58:49):
Well, which engine do you have on that one?

Speaker 19 (01:58:52):
It's the three five, So what's the six r eighty.

Speaker 6 (01:58:55):
Okay, uh, you know low end on that you're starting
off roughly in the neighborhood of about thirty seven thirty
eight hundred. You know, if I had to get a
box unit and replace it because yours was no longer
cost effective to build, you're probably kissing seven. So that's
kind of a window that you're working with.

Speaker 19 (01:59:12):
Okay, all right, So if it was indeed something to
do with the transmission, and I got it early, that
maybe it was.

Speaker 17 (01:59:20):
That's the likelihood, yeah, rather than have to replace it.

Speaker 6 (01:59:23):
Yeah, the longer, you know, I don't know if you
have a thirty eight hundred dollars transmission and there are
seven thousand dollars transmission, But the longer you continue to
drive it, you're doing everything you can to make sure
it's a seven thousand dollars transmission.

home when assists for the same amount of time, or
anywhere else except one supermarket it happened at as well. Okay,

(02:00:47):
here it is drum roll please, I don't have a
drum roll, but I mean I do have one, but
I can't get to it right now.

Speaker 7 (02:00:54):
But anyway, here's the bottom line.

Speaker 4 (02:00:56):
There was a high powered uh this and the dealer
figured this out. A lot of lots have Wi Fi
access points that that for some reason for the store
home depot for their tablets and stuff, and it was
accessing his vehicle's modem repeatedly, and his modem was draining

(02:01:18):
down the battery, and the dealer updated the telematics module
and he had no more battery drain. For some reason,
the Wi Fi thing was in search and trying to
connect to the home depot a Wi Fi and that
was causing a drain.

Speaker 10 (02:01:40):
Man.

Speaker 7 (02:01:41):
That's weird.

Speaker 5 (02:01:42):
By the way, Wi the console should have been off.

Speaker 4 (02:01:45):
That shouldn't be yeah, but it didn't. That's why. That's
why they had to change out something a telematics module
or something. Anyway they they had to. They had to
change that out at the dealer. But the dealer said
it was a common problem that many times you're the
modules are hunting for Wi Fi. You know, I noticed

(02:02:06):
my beamer it hunts for Wi Fi And just like
my phone, if I don't turn that off on my phone,
that really takes a lot of energy looking for Wi
Fi all the time. I didn't realize how much it did.
I know, Deputy Bow, you have a followup, but hold
on a sec because I want to play this one thing.
So I was telling the story about so this guy

(02:02:29):
was getting his vehicle wrap changed his mind, wanted his
money back and he said, he said, I want my
money back, and the guy said, okay, I'll give you
your money back, but I'm going to keep one hundred
and forty dollars to send the material back to the factory.
As I said, at that time, the vendor or Anthony
York at AMG Custom Vinyl, could have said, I'm not

(02:02:49):
going to give your money back. You made a deposit.
I'm willing to do it, but neither here nor there,
he said, okay, I'll give your money back. So as
I said, Matthew went to Anthony's house because he was
tired of waiting and he never got his refund through
the mail. Never got his refund, so he took two
deputies with him for Syblicists, went over to Anthony's house.
Anthony he wanted to get his money. Matthew called us

(02:03:11):
and said, I couldn't get my money. I still can't
get my money. And when we called Anthony at amc
AMG Custom Vinyl again, he could have told us I'm
not giving the money back, but instead he said I
did give the money back. Now, I don't know how
many of you guys listening to the show. But he said,
I gave the money back, and he said, in fact,
when the deputies came to my door, Anthony was standing

(02:03:34):
over by. Matthew was standing over by his truck, and
I counted out the money. Anthony said, I counted out
the money, eight hundred and sixty dollars. I counted it
out in front of the deputy, gave it to the
deputy Tiffany her name was, and Tiffany gave it to
Matthew and he said, it's all on bodycam. And we said, well, okay,

(02:03:54):
we'll check that out. It's on bodycam supposedly. Well, Anthony
went so far as to say, of course it is.
And Matthew said he's a liar. And Anthony said, why
would I lie like this. I'd be crazy to lie
like this. Now, let me see if we can hear
this one. I don't know.

Speaker 14 (02:04:12):
If it doesn't, I'm the liar. Then you can just
ruin my whole business.

Speaker 7 (02:04:17):
Could you hear that or not?

Speaker 4 (02:04:18):
Dragon was that low? Okay? So that was one of
the things. Then the other one he said, was this
hold on or are they both the same hold on?

Speaker 14 (02:04:27):
If it does it, I'm the liar. Then you can
just ruin my whole business.

Speaker 4 (02:04:31):
Wowio, think about this guy.

Speaker 14 (02:04:34):
If I'm the liar, then just ruin and just say, hey,
this business is a scam. If I'm not the liar,
then you put him on glass and give me more business.

Speaker 17 (02:04:43):
That's how it works.

Speaker 7 (02:04:45):
So that's what he said.

Speaker 4 (02:04:46):
So what happened, Well, we looked at the bodycam footage.
Not only was there no money counted out on camera,
he could be heard saying, and I'm going to put
the video up on the YouTube streamed next week. I
don't have it now. It's on a thumb drive and
I have to extract it. But he could be heard
saying I don't have the money and that that Matthew

(02:05:10):
was going to give him more time. So the guy
is a crazy liar. The reason I say crazy because
he just lied through his teeth. Why do I why
do I emphasize this so much? Because I don't think
I if ever had anyone come on the show like
that ever and out and out lie like that and
swear to God that you know you can ruin me

(02:05:32):
if I'm lying. So that's Anthony York amg custom Vinyl
Anthony York Okay, and as soon as I get the
picture off the video, I'm going to be using it
to put him up on Sleas Brigade. But that's crazy, Okay, Colton,
what's going on with you and your Amazon card?

Speaker 16 (02:05:55):
Go ahead, Colton, I I kind of a long story
of why I had to do this, But I purchased
three Amazon gift cards from Kroger grocery source obviously a
well known third party, and put those into my Amazon account.
And there was a total of eleven hundred dollars, so

(02:06:17):
two of them for five hundred, one of them for
one hundred. Successfully put those into my Amazon account, placed
in order. It got canceled, and then immediately I looked
at that balance and it said Amazon removed all three
of those gift cards from my account. So now out
eleven hundred dollars.

Speaker 4 (02:06:35):
I'm but why why did they remove them?

Speaker 17 (02:06:39):
That's that's the answer.

Speaker 16 (02:06:40):
I'm trying to get the most. So I've spent a
crazy amount of time on their support line trying to
get it figured out. The most they basically just say,
you know, we have to escalate this to the proper team.
You'll hear from them in twenty four or forty eight hours.
So I wait, never hear anything. This has been just
an ongoing cycle for two months now, and the most

(02:07:03):
I've gotten from them is one email just saying that
they removed them because of terms and conditions of their
gift cards.

Speaker 4 (02:07:08):
So what wait wait wait wait wait, So they didn't
just cancel. They didn't just cancel the purchase. They took
away your balance, your credit balance? Correct?

Speaker 5 (02:07:20):
Correct?

Speaker 4 (02:07:23):
I don't understand that.

Speaker 16 (02:07:26):
And that was two months ago, and so, you know
whatever they that might have been triggered by something who knows,
you know. So I've been trying to reach out and
get answers of why that happened and then obviously get
that eleven hundred dollars back in there. But they have
not explained anything. They've promised, you know that I would
be reached out to by the proper team after it
gets escalated.

Speaker 4 (02:07:48):
May I ask you something, Colton, Because I Colton, I
buy I bought gift cards, a bunch of them, fifty
dollars gift cards. No, No, I didn't buy them. They
were they were given to me as one of my
credit card perks. I had accumulated things and I could
get them in gift cards, and I got them in
Amazon gift cards, and then I put those gift cards
on my account and then I spent them down. I

(02:08:09):
don't know what I would have done if they simply said, sorry,
it's a bad gift card. But they didn't say it
was a bad gift card, did they. That's the other things.
It's crazy. They're just saying that it's just it's just subtracted.
They were removed. Did they have any explanation whatsoever other

(02:08:32):
than they were removed.

Speaker 1 (02:08:35):
No.

Speaker 16 (02:08:35):
That's been the only messaging in communication I've had through
any of this.

Speaker 4 (02:08:41):
But Amazon is pretty good at communication. Amazon is pretty
good at communication. When you go in there to your account,
do they have an open an open inquiry going on? Yeah?

Speaker 16 (02:08:54):
So, I mean I've basically called the number like I
did the chat stuff kind of my account.

Speaker 17 (02:09:00):
There for right. I wasn't right, So then I.

Speaker 16 (02:09:03):
Was just an ongoing like you know, call them them,
promising I would get some communication within twenty four to
forty eight hours to get this resolved. Not hearing anything,
not getting emails nothing, so calling back and starting to
cycle all over. And when I say it got escalated,
probably fifteen to twenty times over the last two months.

(02:09:24):
That's not exaggerating and haven't gotten anything outside of one
email that said, you know, it's that it was removed
because of terms and conditions, and that's really the only
explanation they've given me.

Speaker 4 (02:09:36):
And Hey, Calton, Calton, let me ask you something. Are
these cards that you have to scratch off the back?
Could it be that they were you know how the
you've heard of the gift cards scam where they're they're
going in and they're getting the numbers off the gift
cards and using them.

Speaker 7 (02:09:53):
And then.

Speaker 4 (02:09:55):
Did you know.

Speaker 7 (02:09:58):
Was it a sealed card or was it an open card?

Speaker 4 (02:10:00):
Do you know it was?

Speaker 16 (02:10:02):
It was fully feeled like in packaging. I had to
kind of rip off the packaging to get to the card,
scratch off the back of it, put the code in,
so and all of that was fine. It successfully went
into my account and everything to the point where I
could even place the order. And so at that point,
once I successfully placed the order, then I discarded the
gift cards.

Speaker 17 (02:10:23):
So I wish I did.

Speaker 4 (02:10:24):
No, that's exactly right. So how long ago did this happen?
Did they take it away?

Speaker 16 (02:10:30):
It was on October ninth, so just over two months
ago when it all happened.

Speaker 4 (02:10:38):
This is crazy. Does anyone Hey, guys, do you have
any ideas? I mean, we really have to. I mean,
here's the problem. Though you have more access to Amazon
than we do because you have an open an open case.

Speaker 7 (02:10:53):
Did they tell you when you will get an answer?

Speaker 16 (02:10:58):
They've promised twenty four to four eight hours. It's at
least getting communication over and over and.

Speaker 19 (02:11:03):
That haven't happened.

Speaker 16 (02:11:04):
So I've gotten very frustrated on their support line multiple times,
and they've just continued to promise. Okay, No, I've excalated again.
You know, told told me that they absolutely will get
back to me in twenty four to forty eight hours.
And the most I've gotten is just kind of a
general email, and it's saying that you know, they did
remove it for terms and conditions if it's incorrect, provide

(02:11:28):
proof of the gift cards and like the receipts.

Speaker 17 (02:11:30):
I do have the.

Speaker 16 (02:11:31):
Receipt from Kroger for them, and I've provided that, and
then go I get nothing.

Speaker 4 (02:11:37):
Okay, So when they say if you disagree per terms
and conditions, and then they say if you disagree disagree
with what.

Speaker 16 (02:11:47):
The basic yeah, I mean basically if that was done,
if that's a mistake, that they, you know, had taken
those out of my account, which it obviously was. You know,
as you know, there's a lot of fraud and everything
around gift cards. I'm sure that it obviously triggered something
to remove it from my account.

Speaker 4 (02:12:03):
But yeah, sure did it? Sure did? That scares the
hell out of me, right, So we I mean, I mean,
I gotta figure this out. Hold on a second. I
want to take a break and see if we can
get somebody on it for you. Do you have a
phone number, by the way that you can call or not?

Speaker 17 (02:12:26):
Say that again?

Speaker 4 (02:12:27):
Do you have a phone number? Did they give you
a phone number and a name of anyone or not?

Speaker 17 (02:12:32):
No? They didn't.

Speaker 16 (02:12:33):
I mean the most I have is a just the
general support.

Speaker 4 (02:12:39):
Yeah, but don't they don't they have an option where
you can choose to receive a phone call from their
their health department. Don't they do that? I know that
I've gotten a phone call from them.

Speaker 16 (02:12:50):
Yeah, I mean that I basically go into my Amazon
account and click, you know, I would whatever it says,
I'd like to talk.

Speaker 4 (02:12:56):
See, we're gonna have to We're gonna have to do that.
We're gonna have to do a conference call with you
in one of our deputies. Hold on, Colton, Okay, I

(02:13:41):
Deputy bow As a follow up, Okay, here's what happens.
Zach called and said his mom lives in a in
other gardens and the elevator has been out in a
three story building since Thanksgiving Day. Bo I said, you
would definitely get to the bar. I got right on it.

(02:14:02):
You fine.

Speaker 22 (02:14:03):
I talked to Zach, I called the few people over there.
Finally got a hold of the general manager of the place, John,
and he did acknowledge the elevator has been out for
two and a half weeks. They assured me that they're
going to have it up and running tomorrow afternoon. They
had to expedite a motherboard that's on back order, and

(02:14:25):
so I told Zach to give us a call Monday
or me over the weekend to find out if it did.
And I did mention to John, if there's six or
seven of these buildings over there, that they should have
a spare motherboard on hand in case the other elevator
goes out. It's an older property. But I hope that
he is true to it.

Speaker 4 (02:14:45):
Why wouldn't they do something like that now? He said
it would be up and running what within twenty four hours? Said?

Speaker 22 (02:14:50):
He assured me Tom that the based on our call,
that he would have the elevator up and running by
tomorrow morning, which would be good because Zach's wants to
go to a funeral and they can't. She's on the
third floor and she just can't. She can't get down
the stairs.

Speaker 7 (02:15:08):
God, that's amazing. That is a big problem.

Speaker 22 (02:15:11):
I'm surprised they don't have to like a freight elevator
or an accelary elevator because they're just they're older people
in this complex. So yeah, we're gonna so happens. We're
going to find out tomorrow afternoon, and if they don't
get it done, we'll go to the next step on Wenday.

Speaker 4 (02:15:28):
She's geez. I mean, I don't know what you do
in a case like that. But they've been waiting this
long for a motherboard that just doesn't sound right? Is
it because it's an older system?

Speaker 22 (02:15:38):
Yeah, they said it was on back order, but I
believe Heather Gardens has been out there a long time.
I'm sure this system's probably twenty five years old. But
they should have some spare parts for these things, because
that's a crucial, you know, piece of equipment, especially for
an older community.

Speaker 4 (02:15:56):
Sure is Hold on a second, I want to go
back to something to find out. Well, no, but it's
a partial dinger. I don't know if I know. Listen,
do I have a partial dinger? How about this one?
Well that's not anyway. Here's the deal. People remind me
when I start things that don't finish them. And yes,

(02:16:17):
I remember the Lemon Law claims the most likely lemons
have been chosen by Golden Lemon, a law firm put
this website out which is great Goldenlemon dot com. And
as I said, Ford was number one on the list
for transmission breakdowns and then some electronic malfunctions. Chevy was

(02:16:40):
second for severe engine performance issues and some break deficiencies,
and then I said, I'd give you the rest. Number
three is jeep transmission problems on jeeps. Do you guys
hear what do you And I've been asking our experts
if they agree with some of this, guys, what do
you think.

Speaker 6 (02:17:01):
Without a doubt, without a doubt, and if you jeep
does just recently went there, you know they stopped using
standard shift transmissions now their last run inside like the
Wranglers and Gladiators, they were having overheating problems with those clutches,
to the point that there was actually a vehicles known
to catch on fire.

Speaker 5 (02:17:19):
I knew one guy.

Speaker 6 (02:17:20):
We changed out a clutch form to an aftermarket clutch
after his third one within thirteen thousand miles.

Speaker 4 (02:17:28):
Wow, So Ford, Chevy Jeep. Next on the list. Tesla. Now,
you guys wouldn't know anything about that, but software failures
has caused actual while they're driving, touchscreen blackouts, disabling critical
functions and display information and so that seems to be

(02:17:52):
a problem with Tesla. The other one after that is
super U. Now they say Subaru experienceerienced CVT deterioration. Okay,
you've always talked about CVT. They're here to stay. But
have you heard of particularly problems with the Subaru CVTs.

Speaker 6 (02:18:15):
The majority of problems we see with the Subaru CVT
or valve body issues, occasional torque brewer issues, generally the
transitions themselves are pretty gosh darn stout.

Speaker 4 (02:18:27):
And then they say there are structural weaknesses in the
overall four speed automatic transmission.

Speaker 7 (02:18:33):
Whatever that means. Structural weakness, I don't.

Speaker 5 (02:18:38):
Know even it's the four speed anymore. I think it's
all the CVT.

Speaker 7 (02:18:42):
Okay, Now, Mercedes.

Speaker 4 (02:18:46):
Certain models experience unpredictable exterior interior lighting failures, touchscreen system crashes,
and air suspension collapse. That's on GLC models. And a
safety critical software defect triggered a major recall, by the way,

(02:19:08):
on some of the late models. So that now they
so they took all those and they made some predictions
for twenty twenty five, and they say that tech related
defects will dominate complaints. This law firm says an increasing
complexity of software systems and updates. They see in the

(02:19:30):
future that many Lemon cars will have widespread issues with
digital dashboard malfunctions and connectivity. Connectivity, so really, seriously, I
mean software and computers are becoming I mean that's a
major deal. That is a major deal. I mean there

(02:19:52):
are no simple or dumb cars anymore? Are there? Are
there any dumb cars at all? No?

Speaker 5 (02:19:58):
Very few, and all the systems.

Speaker 4 (02:20:00):
With very few. I can't think of one dumb car.
You can't buy one.

Speaker 20 (02:20:04):
Well, some Hyundai's and Kias are still pretty plain, are
they okay? Bottom rope? You Knowndais and Kias.

Speaker 7 (02:20:11):
All right, I gotta take this break. We got more
coming right up.
