Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ripped, so you don't have.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Come running Just as fast as we can. Shooter's gonna
help come.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Man Dix is the Troubleshooter Show.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
No Tom Martino, Hi Tom Martino here, welcome to the show.
Here to help you solve your problems, answer questions, take complaints,
and make your life a little easier.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Today is Car Day. I love car Day.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
And for those streaming, I will have the shot up
of the studio. For the ugly guys sitting there, we
have Kevin Calkins, shared an auto tech.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Jeff Fick, Kimmeer transmission and who's that head? Is that
deputy doc? Who is that with the back Doc?

Speaker 4 (00:52):
I recognize your back end. I don't know what the
hell that means, but anyway better than the front end. Yeah,
so listen. Lots to talk about today. I'll go right
to the phones. Callers get priority. But we had a
guy drop off a car for service the other day

(01:12):
and he was sold. He has to wait fifteen days. Now,
what is going on with service? Do you remember we
used to stop our cars off in the morning, pick
them up in the afternoon, or or even better, we
used to sit and wait for the car to be serviced.
Why are dealers Now I'm talking about dealers mainly because

(01:33):
when I went to Kevin and Kevin, when I dropped
my car off, I dropped it off and you call
me and say it's ready in a few hours because
you schedule him accordingly exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
So what's going on? Really? And I mean this sincerely.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
I'm not just trying to drum up something controversial, but
this is all. This is happening all over. Why can
we blame parts? Can we blame poor scheduling? Slower texts?

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Really?

Speaker 4 (02:02):
And I know you've heard the same problem, Kevin. And again,
I only went to the dealer when I absolutely have to,
but this guy was going for just a little problem.
And then while it was there do the service, they said, well,
have your car fifteen days. Don't you think that's unacceptable.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Unless there's some back order on parts. It's just ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Yes, And I think what they ought to do is
order the parts, yeah, and then bring them in. But people,
here's what they tell me, or here's what they were told.
We won't do that because people often cancel. And I said, well,
did you offer to pay for the parts? They said yes,
but they wouldn't even do that because they said you

(02:45):
can contest it on a credit card.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
And still if we don't.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Put those parts in, we'd have to give you a refund.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
I don't know. I'm just baffled by It doesn't happen
that often.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
But we do ask for money in advance for advance
appointments when we have to order parts, we do too.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Well, yeah, well there's nothing wrong with that, sure, and
but these dealers wouldn't do it. They wouldn't take the
person's money ahead of time and order the parts. They say, no,
we like to get the car in here and make
sure we know what we need, and then we will
you see, that's what they say. We're not going to
order parts because we don't know what you need until
you come in here. And when you come in here,

(03:25):
we take the car apart. We don't want to put
it back together. So basically they just want the car
for an extended period of time. I want to know
if people have run across this or the best service
experiences they've had. But Matthew right now, he bought a car.
And Matthew, did you buy this car yesterday?

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Am I? Am I reading this correctly?

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Yes, sir, we went down yesterday at nine am.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
What kind of car? Tell me about the car purchase?
What is the car?

Speaker 6 (03:58):
It is a two thousand in seventeen GMC canyon.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
GMC what canyon? Canyon?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Okay, now I'm going to ask the same question I
ask everyone.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
What's the problem.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
So she drove the car to work. She worked, and
then she was coming home she noticed the car was smoking.
She wrought it to me. I noticed the car was smoking.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
So we immediately, Well can I ask this and again
I'm going to I'm going to uh just say this
because gott it just is is ridiculous to ask this
over and over. But Matthew, before you bought this twenty
seventeen GMC canyon, did you take it somewhere to have

(04:53):
it checked out?

Speaker 6 (04:55):
No, sir, I just left my mechanics U No.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
No, But Matthew, Matthew, why didn't you have the Why
didn't you have the car checked out before you bought it?
That is my simple question.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
Honestly, we figured it's a reputable place. They do a
inspection on the cars when they sell a car. Why
would you sell a car that's smoking?

Speaker 4 (05:19):
So well, me, Matthew that now you're going to learn why,
because they can.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Now. I am not insinuating that.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Dealers will purposely sell defective cars, but I am telling
you straight up that first they can't catch everything. Second,
they might be a little dishonest. And and this is
for those listening, it's soule for you, Matthew, never buy
a car, never ever, ever, ever buy a car without

(05:50):
having it checked out first.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Unless it's new. Now, on a used.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Car, even if you get it checked out, it's not
one hunder.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
A sure thing.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Kevin, you do a used car checkout, I just and Matthew,
hang on because we will. That doesn't mean we don't
want to help you. I just want to give a
warning to people. And I swear to God I should
start the show every day saying, and by the way,
if you're buying a used.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Car, get it checked out first, Kevin. Yep.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
If you look at the percentage of people that do
pre buy inspections, what percent do you find serious problems?

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Serious problems probably twenty five percent of the time twenty.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
And then how about minor problems?

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Another thing is just minor leagues, Different things breaks, you know,
it just and it gives people ammunition to go back
and negotiate, you know, buy the car if they do
the breaks tires and kind of thing.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
So yeah, so Matthew's wife is driving home and it's smoking.
By the way, did you go on a test drive, Matthew,
where the smoke would have shown up?

Speaker 7 (06:55):
Yes, we did.

Speaker 6 (06:56):
We actually went on the highway and nothing popped up.
Goal last night.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Okay, so what so you're taking it home it's smoking.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Continue your story, Matthew.

Speaker 6 (07:09):
So I had her email Jordan, which is the manager
of the shop last night.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
And what is what is the dealer? Who is the dealer.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Victory Motors, Victory. Okay, I do want to say that
we went down to my mechanic. He did take a
look at it. He did say that there is a
slight oil league dripping on the main and bold which
is causing the smoke. We emailed Jordan this morning to

(07:41):
let him know that we're at ninety four miles because
we currently live in Lakewood. Victory is in Thorton, Colorado,
and Jordan did email us back this morning and said,
bring the car in. We're gonna look at it. So
everything might be okay. They might be you know, taking responsibility,

(08:02):
They might fix it. I just I wanted a paper
trail and I wanted to know what my options are
when I go into the deal.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Okay, all right, let me, let me, let me. I'm
going to give you. I'm going to give.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
You the black and white first, and then we'll work backwards.
Bottom line, you bought a used car as is, you
have no options at all. If that car needed a
completely new engine with ninety four miles you put on it,
you would be technically responsible for it. Now, I will

(08:40):
say that's the black and white of it. However, the
nuances or the things that could change that is if
they and I say this all the time, and when
I say it, Matthew, I'm not talking about you, but
I'm talking about whenever I tell people when you buy
a car as is, everything is your responsibility from the

(09:02):
time you leave that lot or sign your name to
the time you have a problem. It doesn't matter. It's
your problem. However, there are ways around as is. It
should say as represented because if they said to you,
for example, and you could verify it, this has a

(09:25):
new engine, or this has been meticulously maintained, or this
one runs great. If they make statements, you can hold
them to those statements.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
So here's what I say.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
As is is as is, unless they lied to you, cheated,
or in another way ripped you off. So what we
have to do is just hope that they take full responsibility.
But you asked me, and I'm telling you this before
you get in there. Their responsibility is nothing. Now, there

(10:01):
are many many dealers who have been around for years.
And you buy a car and on the way home
it starts smoking, and they would never make you responsible.
They would say, oh my god, you just bought it.
Most reputable dealers within the first day or so, they're

(10:23):
not going to like say, sorry, we tricked you.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
So what is your feeling. I want to know this,
What is your feeling about the dealership in general?

Speaker 6 (10:37):
The fact that they responded so quickly. I'm in a
positive state of.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Mind, and I want you to stay that way. I
want you to stay that way because no good comes
from the negative state of mind.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
So I want you to keep in mind.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
That these guys are good and you'll be grateful for
anything they do. And by the way, when you talk
to them, just say listen. You know, if this happened
in a month or so, I might be questioning it.
But it happened on the way home. But Matthew, I'm
going to mark this pending. Would you please let us know,
one way or another what goes on.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
When will you be going in there?

Speaker 6 (11:20):
We are driving there right now.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Okay, we're on the air for four hours. Matthew, I
swear to you. I want to hear from you, and again,
don't hold us up as a thread or anything, but
I want you to know that I am with you
on this. If it started smoking on the way home,
in my opinion, it's probably something they knew about.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
But don't go in there and start telling them that.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
So hang on, let us know what's going on. We
will wait for your call. We have more coming up. Okay,
this was Matthew. Wendy wants to talk about a contractor,
Kevin wants to talk about an oil leak and a warranty,
and Katie has a question about imports. So all of
that's coming up on the Troubleshooter Show.

Speaker 3 (12:09):

Speaker 4 (12:49):
Okay, So Wendy's got an issue with a contractor, and uh,
let's talk Wendy, what's going on in your life?

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Hello Wendy, Hello Tom.

Speaker 8 (12:59):
Thanks so much, you're taking my call. Yeah, we signed
a contract on August first with American Bath Solutions there
in Denver.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
And what date? What date was it that you hired
the contractor?

Speaker 8 (13:15):
August first?

Speaker 3 (13:16):
And it's called it's called what American?

Speaker 8 (13:21):
What American Bath Solutions?

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Okay? And what did you what were you going to
have them.

Speaker 8 (13:28):
Do renovate a home master bath?

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (13:33):
By the way, for those listening, she should have gone
to discountbath dot com.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Anyway, what went wrong, Wendy?

Speaker 8 (13:43):
So we signed the contract and we gave him a deposit.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
How much of a deposit? How much of a deposit?

Speaker 8 (13:51):
Eighteen thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
That's way too much.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Listen, God, Wendy, how did you find American Bath?

Speaker 9 (14:00):
So Peter is the owner.

Speaker 8 (14:02):
He previously worked on another home of ours and renovated.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Okay, so you knew him. It wasn't a shot in
the dark. You knew him. Yes, Yes, what's Peters? What's
Peter's last name?

Speaker 8 (14:16):
I'm going to spell it for you, see um pl
ido completo maybe?

Speaker 10 (14:23):
Yeah, okay, say it all right?

Speaker 4 (14:25):
So you paid eighteen grand? How much was the total
job going.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
To be.

Speaker 8 (14:30):
Twenty four plus?

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Did you have any did you have any kind of
pause whatsoever.

Speaker 10 (14:40):
You know.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
On paying money upfront like that?

Speaker 8 (14:44):
We didn't because it's a it's a contract. We can
send it to you. They asked for seventy five percent.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
It doesn't matter if it's a here. I want to
make this really clear to people. People.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
I know that I have people on my referral list
that do the same thing. Okay, I'm not telling you
that everyone has to do what I say, but I
am telling you that I do not like down payments
upfront for nothing.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
I don't mind if you have plans, if you.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Have materials delivered, if you have any kind of work beginning,
but to pay money upfront for nothing. And that might
not even be her problem she's calling about. But I'm
just saying this in general, try to avoid down payments
at all costs. There is no there is never a
good reason to take it down payment. I don't care

(15:35):
if you're on my referral list or not. I am
telling you, if you're a contractor and you demand a
down payment because you don't trust the consumer to come through,
don't do business for the consumer if you don't trust them.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Not to cancel the contract.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
I am telling you upfront, do not make down payments
if you can possibly avoid it. And if you do
make down payments, make sure they're done either on a
credit card or with some kind of escrow account, because
down payments immediately put you in the backseat.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Again.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
You may not even be calling about this, Wendy. I
just wanted to bring it up since people are listening.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Eighteen thousand on.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
A twenty four thousand dollars contract. I would have said
to the guy, why do you need eighteen thousand dollars?
You don't have money to run your business. You don't
know what the hell you're doing. You can't control cash
flow and that eighteen grand, according to law, must be
put in a segregated account only for you. It cannot
be used for anything else, not even normal.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Day to day operations.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
It must be put in a trust account according to
the contractor's Trust Act. So anyway, I'm sorry to interrupt.
You keep going with your story.

Speaker 8 (16:49):
That's okay, thank you. That's all great information. So he
kept in contact with us. I've ordered these parts. We're
putting in an oversized shower. So we knew that the
base of that shower, the pan was going to take
extra time. But he said cabinets vanity should be no

(17:10):
longer than four weeks. We are now at seven weeks.
We've got nothing. On September tenth, he said one of
his workers would be out to put in the cabinets.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
So that's exactly what's going on. He got your money,
there's no reason to show up.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
Most likely that money's been used already on other stuff,
and now he's got to figure out how to get
people over to your house. Wendy, you're in a really
bad situation right now. I'm not going to sugarcoat this.
Whenever you give eighteen thousand dollars to somebody and they
haven't shown up since the first of August.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
You got a problem. I want to know, since it's
been almost two months, is what is the excuse? What
is the damn excuse.

Speaker 8 (17:56):
We can't even get a hold of him. He won't
return a phone call.

Speaker 9 (17:59):
He won't return.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Okay, so you're you got to start taking legal action immediately.
You're going to lose eighteen grand. I'm telling you that
right now. Now, First, we want to call him and
we want to light a fire under his ass. Okay,
is he still advertising? And like when you say he's
not returning a call, are you calling his cell phone?

Speaker 8 (18:21):
Are I believe it's a cell it's the number listed.

Speaker 9 (18:24):
To the business.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Okay, So, Deputy Doc, I want you to call over
to this guy right now, call him right now and say, listen,
this woman paid you eighteen grand. I would ask for
my money back, Wendy, and I would cancel the contract.
This is a bad sign. This is a bad sign.
I'm almost positive the money's gone. Okay, And Doc, you

(18:49):
might want to remind him that under the law he's
supposed to put its must be in a trust account,
and that if we file a lawsuit, if she files
a lawsuit. She's going to find out in a hurry
if he did things the right way.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Wendy, hang on, I'm going to give this to Doc.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
He's right there right now, raring to go, and I
don't blame him. This sucks. This absolutely sucks. So people
deal with good people. One Clear Choice Garage Doors would
be an example of a great company. Somebody texted me
and said, Tom, I couldn't believe it. I called him
nine o'clock at night. They were over there within a

(19:26):
half hour. Why did they call nine o'clock Because they
had the spring break, they couldn't get their cars out.
They knew in the morning they'd have a problem going
to work. So they called the twenty four to seven
service of one Clear Choice Garage Doors and they were
there within a half hour and took care of the
broken spring. Whatever your garage door problem. One clear Choice

(19:47):
Doors dot com. I love these people. One clear Choice
Doors dot Com. The number is seven to zero three
seven zero thirty nine eighty seven. Go with a sure
thing Denver's Best roofer Excel Roofing dot com.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
You don't pay a cent until you're content.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Time for an insurance check up free, no obligation comparison
call Compass Insurance paying too much your coverage at dozens
of insurance companies. Find out now three three seven to
seven to one help. You'll think you're his only customer
when you choose Frank durand the real estate Man dot
com to list your home with Remax Alliance three three
nine two zero sixteen twenty two.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
I'm Tom Martino here. Welcome to the show man.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
Ah, I am so pissed off when we start off
a show with someone losing all of that money. It's
terrible and I'm sure it's lost. Deputy Doc, what's happening?
What's going on? Deputy Doc?

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Tell me what's happening.

Speaker 11 (20:58):
You tried to call this guy hold his work number,
and we got the voicemail saying that he can't take
any he's not available right now, but his mailbox is full.

Speaker 12 (21:09):
And you cannot leave a message.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
You know, Here's what I think.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
I think the guy is is a clown.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
He's probably a liar and a cheater and a ripoff.
I think with eighteen thousand dollars.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Yeah, of course probably took money from other people as well.

Speaker 5 (21:25):
He's not the only one.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Yeah, I mean, gosh, how many times see. If she
didn't make a down payment, we wouldn't be having this
discussion because the son of a bitch couldn't have taken
off and not talk called her because he wants her money.
And I'm tired, and I am tired of these liar
and cheater ripoff contractors. And I'm telling you people, I

(21:50):
would never put a down payment down for nothing with
a contractor.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Ever. I don't care who they are.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
I don't care who they are, because things unforeseen can
happen and your money is gone.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
This guy, in my opinion, should be in jail.

Speaker 12 (22:09):
Hey, Tom, Yes, heir address is five one Andy's A
and Des Andy's Way. Is there somebody in the audience
who's who could go drive past that?

Speaker 13 (22:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (22:26):
Well where what part of town is it in?

Speaker 12 (22:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
I've never heard of that street. Andy's A and Des
like the mountains? Oh, okay, what's the address? I'm I'm
going to google it right now.

Speaker 12 (22:36):
Five zero one nine.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
Five zero one nine five zero one and Andy's Andy's Oh,
I say it came right up here on my hold on.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
It's in Peru, one of them.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Five give me that number again, dot five zero one
nine five zero one nine. Andy's okay.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
Yeah, I found one in Peru, but I doubt that's
the one we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Andy's Way.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
Yeah, that's what it looks like right near Green Valley
Ranch Tower Road and Green Valley Boulevard Ranch Boulevard.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
If there's anybody up north there, I know, I know
south east if it's yeah, wait, no, no, no, that's
not No, Tower is east, but it's also.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
North and way one of the two. Yeah, is it south?

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Donal doc anyway? Somebody get the uh.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
We have a defibrillator over on the wall for him.
Three oh three, seven to one three talk seven one
three two five five. Kevin's got an oil leak. Let's
talk about it. Twenty nineteen. Duramax is the Duramax.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
A good truck, guys, very durable, durable, Duramax. Okay, Kevin,
talk to us, Kevin, what's going on?

Speaker 14 (24:01):
I do it?

Speaker 4 (24:03):
Hey, man, We're doing good. It's car day. We love
car day, all right.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
So I got my truck and in a DMC dealership
right now for warranty work that they had done. Remains
deal with Lincoln and a check in you.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Light, hold on, so hold on.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
That's what they they they worked on that already, that's
why you took it in originally.

Speaker 10 (24:29):
Yeah, a year ago.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Oh and then what happened this year? Did you have
to bring it back to the same thing?

Speaker 10 (24:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (24:40):
I noticed, I noticed remain with Lencoln, so I took
it in and they said, yes, it's weekend, we will
fix it under our warranty.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
Okay, So so it's not the factory warranty we're talking
about now, obviously, we're talking about work that was done
at this place last year. Correct, Okay, go ahead, and
it started leaking again.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
Yeah, so they said, yeah, we can fix it under
our warranty. It was like fine. They tear it apart
and they're like, oh, there's a plate in there between
the translation and sell housing that's got a crass on it.
We're going to try to get extended warranty to pay
for that. They declined it. They said. The dealership said,

(25:28):
all right, we're going to fix it because it looks
like our previous mechanic at a half job basically, but
you did there was an RVP everywhere, so they fixed it.

Speaker 10 (25:40):
They're like, your TRUMP.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
Should be done today. Oh no, your GTM just sailed.
It's twelve hundred dollars or whatever the price was. I
paid it, all right, you're good to go. Pick it
up on a Thursday. I bring it back on Tuesday's
leaking cooling. Oh we'll get that sick.

Speaker 14 (25:57):
Pick it back up.

Speaker 6 (25:58):
Two days later, which was yesterday, walk out to the
parking lot, born cool, went out out again.

Speaker 10 (26:06):
Still I don't know what to do. I'm doing.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
They finally gave me a loaner stage. They've had a
total since the twenty fifth last one.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Okay, so let me let me make sure I get
this straight.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
You took it in for warranty work because they replaced
your rearmain seal and it was still leaking, and during
this journey they found other things wrong with it. Now
my gut is telling me that they invented more things
wrong with it so they could make up for the
work they had to do on the rearmain seal.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
That is my gut.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
Many times, these dealers they don't have the wherewithal, or
not just dealers, but mechanics don't have the wherewithal to
do warranty work. So while it's in there for warranty,
they find other things not under warranty.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Kevin am I lying or am I dying? Jeff? What
do you guys think that? Yep? I feel like they.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
So when it started leaking and you took it back,
what other additional work other than the rear main seal
did they say was wrong?

Speaker 6 (27:18):
There was a check engine light, which was the death.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
I find that I understand, But what are they saying
is wrong with your truck? They're obviously acknowledging the rearmain seal,
but what else are they saying?

Speaker 6 (27:33):
Uh gpm W that that I paid for that was
nine dollars and now my truck should be good to go.
I go get in it, leap on it with Thursday
until Tuesday and leaking coolant from something they worked on,
They're like, okay, we'll fix that.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Guys with the rear main seal, would that would that
be coolant? Or did it overheat it? Does he have
a head problem? What's going on?

Speaker 5 (27:57):
You got to pull the engine out to get to
the remain seals? Sure with the transmission either one, So
there's other components that would have had to be removed.
This sounds like sloppy work.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
So what do they say they're gonna do for you?
Right now?

Speaker 10 (28:13):
Well? Right now?

Speaker 14 (28:14):
Last night I laught.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
He's like, we'll get it. Bit there's the rental car.
A dain I've had the two days.

Speaker 10 (28:21):
I just don't know.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
I'm like, well, there's not much you can There's not
much you can do right now. I mean, you're without
a truck and it's there. What I would tell them
is this, you want all old parts, and you want
to make sure your truck is not worse off than
when you took it to him. You want it fixed,

(28:43):
You want it fixed correctly, and you want to make
sure that you know. I mean, what else can he do? Guys?
What else can he do if he takes it.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Out of there?

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Now all bets are off. They're willing to fix the
rear main seal again, right.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
Yet?

Speaker 5 (28:58):
And the oily or the well They've already done the
remain seal.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Yeah, okay, yeah, they did the rearmain seal. So now
it was leaking. Okay, guys, this is what I'm asking.
They had to take the engine out to get to
the rearmain seal. When they put the engine back, what
would make coolant leak? And where is coolant leaking onto
the floor or into the oil.

Speaker 6 (29:25):
It's leaking on the driver's side that's part of the
motor right by the fell housing, which there was a
gap if they said, when you pull the train and
you have to replace it.

Speaker 10 (29:36):
And they don't fix it.

Speaker 6 (29:38):
But it's been twenty five days and I'm like, I
don't even think it's going to be done right. I
send him that message today.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
They didn't do the remain right a year ago. So
I mean it seems like the same quality. Yeah, that's concerning.

Speaker 10 (29:53):
You.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
May you know one more shot. You may need to
get it out of their warrant you or not kick
it on dealer, different dealers.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
I think we need to have somebody call over there
and investigate. Really, we should have somebody call over there.
They discovered is the computer the only problem they discovered.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
In addition to your leak?

Speaker 4 (30:21):
Okay, okay, I think I think, Oh, I'm glad bo
is there. Bo is one of our smarter ones. No
offense stock, no offense stock. Okay, I'll tell you what.
Let's give this the deputy bow to call over. I mean,
this guy deserves an explanation and he deserves this is again, guys,

(30:42):

Oh, okay, thanks for taking my call. Tom. I have
a twenty one E three fifty Mercedes. I bought news
from Mercedes Bens of Denver, and no problems. I love
the car, I love the dealership and there's no issue. However,

(32:50):
as you well know, taking it back to the dealership
for routine maintenance.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Oh, it's terrible, terrible, you know.

Speaker 15 (33:00):
And you know I've always bought new cars and I've
always taken them back to the dealership for those maintenance issues,
even you know, oil changes. But it's just so expected,
you know.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
I listen, I have to tell you they never you
never get out of a dealer for less than nine
hundred bucks.

Speaker 15 (33:22):
Oh, even an oil changes is totally an entire rotations.
And that kind of thing I heard you mentioned that
you drive a BMW and you no longer take your
BMW to the dealership. That's right, like the the thirty thousand, forty.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
Thousands, yep, that's right. You don't have to you don't
have to do that. You don't have to do that.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
I take mine over to Kevin Calkins shared an Altotech
and do you know my last now, listen, I have
never had a service. And I'm telling you this, I
have never had a service less than twelve hundred dollars
and it's usually more.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
Never, not one service ever.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
And I took it over to Kevin and it was
less than four hundred bucks.

Speaker 5 (34:15):
Yeah, and I talked to it because you thought we
didn't do it.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
I called and I talked to the guy and I said,
this is a thirty thousand mile service and he says, really,
what it is is a thirty thousand mile check on
what you need for service.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
He said, what dealers do is.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
They just put down thirty thousand mile service, and they
delineate each and every item they check, and then they
put a price next to it and it comes out
a thirty that car I checked, it would have been
sixteen hundred dollars for my thirty thousand for my thirty
thousand mile check sixteen hundred bucks. Why I have no idea.

(35:01):
I mean I have no idea. So Katie, you have Kevin.
Do you guys work on Mercedes?

Speaker 5 (35:08):
Of course? Yeah, it's a beautiful car too, like that car.

Speaker 4 (35:11):

years altogether. I'm an old frickin' fart. I'm an old fart.
And JR. Wants to talk about oil changes. Today's car day.
Now listen. We'll talk about anything you want, but we
will talk about cars if you want to. This hour
brought to you by Waterpros dot Net. I just can't

(36:54):

(37:15):

So JR. What's going on.

Speaker 16 (37:24):
Hey, Tom, I wanted to ask your pro today. I
wonder you pro about am soil?

Speaker 3 (37:32):
What do you think oil? Okay?

Speaker 4 (37:34):
Can I tell you? Can I tell you about my
experience with AMS oil? You know, first of all, experience
is hard because you know, how do you if you
put me in five cars with five different motoroles, I
couldn't tell you which one was, which I don't think
anybody could. But as far as the product goes and
the research I did on it, I love AMZ oil.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
But okay, good AMS oil. I'm gonna let them my
experts talk.

Speaker 4 (38:00):
But AMS oil came out at a time when there
was no other synthetic oil, so they were somewhat of
an anomaly and they stood out. But now, guys, what
do you guys think of AMS oil?

Speaker 3 (38:17):
And better? Yet?

Speaker 4 (38:19):
Do you think if you're going to go synthetic they're
all going to be good?

Speaker 3 (38:23):
What do you guys think?

Speaker 6 (38:24):
Well?

Speaker 5 (38:25):
And idiot name brands are going to be good?

Speaker 17 (38:27):
I mean, I stick away from the wiuse branded stuff
unless you can verify that it's actually rebranded from a
name brand. But am so oil is probably one of
the best products on the market still today. It is
so The biggest problem with AMZ oil is their marketing strategy.
You can't just go into your people autoparts don't pick
it up. You've got to find somebody who's literally dealing
this stuff out of your garage.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
I know. I know that, and have.

Speaker 18 (38:50):
To change it every year.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
Well hold on, hold on, hold on, what do you
mean you don't have to change it? They're suggesting you
keep it in for a year.

Speaker 16 (38:59):
Yeah, with at our filter and you know something else
they gave me. I take it to my dealer, you know,
my automotive place, and the guys like, yes, this stuff
is so great. It's a once a year oil change.

Speaker 10 (39:12):
That's it.

Speaker 5 (39:13):
Well, I would wholeheartedly disagree with that.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Yeah, yeah, I wouldn't go Why would anyone go a
year between oil changes? That's did they mention how many miles?

Speaker 5 (39:23):
Yep, that's more important.

Speaker 16 (39:25):
Yeah, they said like twelve to fifteen thousand miles.

Speaker 17 (39:28):
No, nope, nope, nope, nope, no, if nothing, if nothing else,
the majority of the filters on the market aren't gonna last.

Speaker 5 (39:35):
They're gonna do They're gonna your high dollar filter. That's
why I'm still over twelve thousand miles. I wouldn't trust
that filter.

Speaker 10 (39:41):
Nope, I see, I see.

Speaker 5 (39:43):
Okay, there's just no life.

Speaker 4 (39:44):
Well listen, however, however, let me tell you this ams
oil is a superior product. Don't confuse our advice with
with the fact that we're we're disagreeing with am oil.
Ams oil as a product is a good product.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
We'll keeping it in a year.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
Keeping any oil in a car for a year, I
wouldn't do. One of the most inexpensive things you can
do for a car is an oil change.

Speaker 17 (40:12):
And I don't think he said Androil recommended that. I
think his his, his mechanic recommended.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
That is who recommended it.

Speaker 16 (40:20):
It was the am soil marketing GUYE.

Speaker 7 (40:23):
That's yeah, me and all my buddies.

Speaker 16 (40:26):
He sells it to all of us and we're just
starting to use it now in all of our vehicles.

Speaker 17 (40:30):
Comman, I would still stick to a regular a regiment,
uh you know, service maintenance.

Speaker 5 (40:36):
Yeah, seven thousand, we'll get a top.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
End for me and on. Sometimes guys tell me why.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
I mean, like I said, amz oil came out when
there were no other synthetics. What's special about amz oil
Now in the world of synthetics.

Speaker 17 (40:51):
Well, a lot of it has to do with their
you know, particularly if you're looking at the amzoil transmission fluid.
I mean they have a higher boiling point, a lower
freezing point, they got a better poor rate, they've got
better detergents. It's just a superior product.

Speaker 5 (41:03):
Yeah, it's just the additive packages that they put in
are more expensive and they are better.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
Okay, okay, cool. Have you guys had people come over
with ams oil saying can you use this? Oh?

Speaker 5 (41:14):
Sure? Oh yeah?

Speaker 17 (41:16):
Well really, you know, I have a customer who's whose
name branded with amoil. They bring their own in because
I don't have the time to go out and make
fifty phone calls to find out whos still has it
in the garage.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
Yeah, that that is weird. They do have that Amway
kind of way of marketing.

Speaker 5 (41:32):
Yep. And another one that people love is Royal Purple.
Royal Purple is a good product, really good and they
can buy.

Speaker 3 (41:38):
What is what is royal purple?

Speaker 5 (41:41):
Okay, but it's up there on the top end, I believe.

Speaker 3 (41:46):
What about Mobile one?

Speaker 5 (41:48):
Mobile One's excellent, it is. It's it's come down a little,
but it used to be the standard. It's it's a
little lower than the top. But it's it's good.

Speaker 4 (41:56):
Okay, So guy, And here's another thing I haven't like.
Let's say you became a distributor, you could you could
then order it.

Speaker 10 (42:09):
Right.

Speaker 4 (42:09):
They don't require that you make a certain number of sales,
do they?

Speaker 3 (42:12):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (42:13):
No, I've never looked into it, and I haven't had
that much demand for it to look into it.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 4 (42:20):
Three oh three seven one three talks seven one three
A two five five all right. I hesitated to bring
this up, but a lot of people are talking about it.
You guys were talking about it in this studio. But
one of the worst things I find is when people
misinterpret what I'm saying or put words in my mouth.

(42:45):
Here's all I am saying. Freedom of speech. We I
was railing on freedom of speech for years because liberals.
Liberals were trying to control speech. They were absolutely positively

(43:05):
trying to control speech, to a point where Biden wanted
to assign a truth director, a director of truth in
the media and Obama. Biden did that, and Obama said
he would he thinks the Internet should be controlled because
of all the misinformation. And there is a lot of misinformation.

(43:27):
But I want I want you to hear me clearly
what I'm saying. I personally, I personally want unabridged freedom
of speech.

Speaker 3 (43:38):
Now again, I want to go back.

Speaker 4 (43:40):
They shouldn't yell fire in a theater, But if people
spout hate and violence and disgusting thoughts, I would rather
I know where people stand, because I believe if somebody
was hateful and disgusting and vile in their speech than

(44:03):
what you would have or people tuning them out. The
vast majority of people, I believe would tune them out.
I think other people would like it, But I personally
like knowing what's on someone's mind. I really want to
know where people stand now. This thing about Kimmel, I
just want to I must have misinterpreted what he said

(44:24):
compared to what people are saying.

Speaker 3 (44:25):
He said.

Speaker 4 (44:26):
He said they were scrambling to unaffiliate this guy with them,
basically to make him anything but a MAGA supporter. I
don't think he was saying they're a MAGA supporter. I
think both sides. As soon as this Charlie Kirk assassination happened.
Where any kind of violence happens, the first thing Democrats

(44:48):
and Republicans do is try to distance themselves from whoever
the perpetrator is. I mean they or they hope and
pray it's not part of them.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
I mean they do that.

Speaker 4 (45:02):
I don't think they do that to place blame on somebody.
Well they do, Yeah, they want to place blame on
the other party. But I saw nothing wrong with what
he said. He said, you know, other than blah blah blah.
I just who cares. I think that speech should be free,

(45:22):
now do.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
I what about consequences? Well, of course, people ever write.

Speaker 4 (45:27):
If I don't like someone who's let's say I don't
like someone on this show, one of my guests, Kevin
or Jeff, if I don't like the way they speak
about cars even or anything, I have the freedom to
say I don't want you on my show anymore.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
I mean, there's nothing wrong with that either.

Speaker 4 (45:42):
But if it's solely based on what they said, I
think it can be dangerous. I was joking during COVID
and during the Hunter Biden laptop scandal and all of
that that liberals were trying, and they were not just trying.
They were the Biden administration literally was putting pressure on

(46:04):
social media sites to curb discussion about the Hunter Biden laptop.
They were also telling them to curb discussion about alternatives
to the vaccine for COVID and just about everything else.

Speaker 3 (46:20):
And we were all just mortified.

Speaker 4 (46:24):
That Biden and fellow progressives were trying to control speech
and of.

Speaker 5 (46:30):
YouTube for talking about health during the vaccines.

Speaker 3 (46:34):
That's right, that's right.

Speaker 4 (46:35):
And I was talking about boosting your immune system and
Facebook put a warning up that.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
It was so riguous.

Speaker 4 (46:44):
Anyway, all I'm saying is this, I know that the
speech that conservatives give, I know, well, you know, they
have a right to take them off there. Of course,
they have a right to take them off to the air,
But is it right to take them off the air?
I mean, if the guy's an idiot and people disagree
with them, they won't listen to them. If people like
what they hear, they will listen to them. Now, obviously,

(47:05):
a sponsor doesn't have to be forced to sponsor something
they don't like, or a station owner shouldn't be forced
to keep someone on the air.

Speaker 3 (47:15):
That they don't like.

Speaker 4 (47:16):
They have every right to preempt the show, like like
Next Star did.

Speaker 3 (47:20):
They have every right to do that.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
But I also believe that we're in dangerous territory right now,
so many people have been fired or censured or or
if they got in trouble for their thoughts about Charlie
Kirk and about the assassin and about everything around it.

Speaker 3 (47:42):
And it's just speech. I would don't. I mean, I'm
maybe I'm alone. I like hearing what's on people's minds.

Speaker 4 (47:52):
And much of the time I edit my own nourishment
of speech and of politics.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
I do my own editing.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
I don't know if I want the government or anyone
else saying you can't say this or you can't say that.
I don't get it. I don't get it. Why are
conservatives saying, yeah, take them all off the air? Why,
I mean something.

Speaker 17 (48:20):
When it was the conservatives that we were taking off
the air. You had Tucker Carlson, you had Roseanne, you
had to that's right.

Speaker 3 (48:26):
And I thought that was wrong too.

Speaker 4 (48:28):
I think it's wrong for us to curb free speech.
Now again, that the very first thing I'm going to hear,
either from conservatives or liberals whenever this comes up, depending
on whose dragon is being slayed, what you're going to
hear from the opposition as well? What if they, you know,
are advocating violence against people, Well, they shouldn't advocate violence

(48:51):
against people. And again, I think people can take action
if somebody's advocating violence. I think it's wrong to advocate violence.
But I I think people should have the freedom to
say anything they want. Then they have to face the consequences,
but they should have the freedom. But I don't think
we should be bending over backwards right now to find offense.

(49:14):
And I think people are afraid to speak out.

Speaker 3 (49:18):
Look at I look at it. I'm not I'm not
saying that.

Speaker 4 (49:22):
Jimmy Kimmel, He's a great guy. I personally just don't
like his humor. In fact, I don't like political humor
at all. I don't like it. I don't like it
on one side or the other. To me, it's not funny.
It's more cutting, and it's more of an agenda seeking
a platform.

Speaker 3 (49:40):
I mean, Stephen Colbert made me sick. He wasn't funny
to me.

Speaker 4 (49:44):
But I like Nate Bargatzi, and I like Jerry Seinfeld
from years ago, and I like comedians who make me laugh.
But I just personally don't like political humor. But I
think everyone should have a right to political humor. You know,
I hate Seth Meyer's opinions on things. But I think

(50:05):
he should have every right to say him, so listen.
I just wanted to get that off my chest because
I think that we are now being too faced. We
are now as conservatives being too faced. If this was
a liberal, if this was a conservative being taken off
the air for what they said, we would say, wait.

Speaker 3 (50:26):
They shouldn't be taken off the air for what they said.

Speaker 4 (50:28):
I mean when we got inside of Biden's administration and
his Justice Department and how they fervently tried to shut
down free speech. I mean, they absolutely positively tried to
shut down free speech.

Speaker 5 (50:44):
Wind thought.

Speaker 4 (50:47):
Yeah, it was terrible, but it's still terrible. It's terrible
no matter what side we're going after, it's terrible. What
is wrong with unabridged freedom of speech? What's wrong with it?
I submit that if someone went on the air and
said something absolutely ridiculous, that they would either lose sponsors

(51:10):
or lose listeners.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
We don't have to.

Speaker 4 (51:12):
Have a concerted effort, just let things take its natural course.
But the main thing I wanted to say is this,
I want to hear me. I want to hear what's
on people's minds to someone. If someone is hateful. I
want to know about it. I don't want them secretly

(51:33):
harboring it. I'd rather they reveal themselves.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
Go ahead, where were you?

Speaker 5 (51:38):
Absolutely? I feel it was that said.

Speaker 12 (51:40):
You know, the only remedy for controlling free speech is
more free speech.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
I think so.

Speaker 4 (51:49):
I think we have both a cancel culture and a
consequence culture. There's okay, and I would cancel someone on
my own, or the consequence would be maybe me not listening.
I don't know if we should be getting into that
territory of who can say what? I mean, people were

(52:11):
getting fired for everything. If somebody, if somebody had a
sympathetic view toward the assassin, that's disgusting. Okay, there's nothing sympathetic.
There's no way you can justify violence. But if someone
tries to justify it, then I think nature will.

Speaker 3 (52:29):
Take its course.

Speaker 4 (52:30):
People will automatically gravitate away from them, and the nuts
will gravitate toward them. So what's wrong with that? We
know how people stand. I just don't want to have
other people making decisions for me on what I should
hear and not hear.

Speaker 3 (52:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (52:48):
Look it right now, the way it is is the
way it is, Okay, we all are going to hear
a lot of stuff and we're going to hear Oh
my goodness.

Speaker 3 (52:59):
He shouldn't have said that.

Speaker 4 (53:01):
But when Biden was trying to shut down free speech,
we were so against it.

Speaker 3 (53:07):
And I say we, I mean conservatives.

Speaker 4 (53:10):
I tend to be a bit conservative on certain issues,
but on this issue, I don't think there should be
a conservative or liberal. I think it should just be
freedom of speech. I mean, one constitutional attorney.

Speaker 3 (53:24):
Put it this way.

Speaker 4 (53:26):
The right to free speech was not for recipes of
chocolate chip cookies.

Speaker 3 (53:35):
Now, think about what he meant.

Speaker 4 (53:37):
We don't fight for free speech so someone can publish
a recipe on chocolate chip cookies.

Speaker 3 (53:47):
It's meant for these times.

Speaker 4 (53:49):
That's what freedom of speech was meant for, times when
we don't want to hear things and.

Speaker 3 (53:56):
People should have a right to express it.

Speaker 4 (53:57):
But in any case, I'm happy that we have a
right to express things. Like let's say, companies that are
ripping people off, I can say, yeah, that's a liar
cheater and a ripoff. What if I did that and
the company was not a liar cheater and a ripoff.

Speaker 3 (54:14):
Well, then I revealed myself.

Speaker 4 (54:16):
Maybe as being an idiot who lacked research or who
flies off at the handle every two minutes, and my
credibility would go according to what I said.

Speaker 3 (54:25):
But it would happen naturally.

Speaker 4 (54:27):
We don't need anyone getting involved and forcing it. I
that's all anyway. Three oh three seven one three eight

I felt like it was contact.

Speaker 3 (56:26):

Speaker 3 (56:36):
Sure but sure thing, but so so.

Speaker 20 (56:40):
Jimmy Kimmel's ratings in the eighteen to forty nine demographic

if you that averages twenty five hundred.

you know, I think that I think the concern is
that the FCC chairman made a.

Speaker 20 (57:14):

I think as a business decision, it was.

Speaker 18 (57:19):
Pretty easy to say, you know what.

Speaker 13 (57:21):
The yeah worth the squeeze.

Speaker 3 (57:23):
And I agree, yeah, and he's.

Speaker 20 (57:27):
He's it is freedom of speech has not been infringed.
His company is saying we're no longer going to put
our next out for you to say what you want

Speaker 4 (57:35):
It's not worth it. It's not worth it, is what
they're saying. Yeah, I get it.

Speaker 3 (57:40):
I know. I know what you're saying, Mike, I know
what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (57:43):
Now, look at I I hate political humor. I do,
and and because I take it personally almost it's like
I think they're so insulting and and in fact.

Speaker 3 (57:56):
These award shows.

Speaker 4 (57:58):
I won't even listen to an award show when they
get political and they go up and make their speech,
you know, like you know, in the state of our
nation right now, we need this or we need that anyway.
But thank you, Tom, Kat appreciate it. And Katschina, would
you give him my personal cell phone number please and

(58:19):
then he can call me or text me. Jessica, what
is your comment? Go ahead, Jessica, what.

Speaker 15 (58:27):
Well, when you were talking about how you know, everybody
can say what they.

Speaker 10 (58:30):
Want to say, I believe in.

Speaker 13 (58:32):
But what about the news?

Speaker 21 (58:34):
You know, people look up to the news channels and
when they make statements that you know aren't true, that's
not cool.

Speaker 4 (58:45):
No, But then again, there are people who will watch
Fox and they won't watch CNN. There are other people
that will watch CNN and not Fox. There are some
people that will watch ABC or NBC but not CBS.
I mean, I think what Tom just said, Tom Coo
just said about the.

Speaker 3 (59:05):
Audience.

Speaker 4 (59:06):
Eventually, people who are popular will fare better than those
who are not. I mean, it will take care of itself.
I don't think the FCC should be getting involved in it.
That's really what I meant to say. I think people
are smart enough to edit out idiots. So, Jessica, where

(59:27):
do you watch the news?

Speaker 21 (59:30):
I watched the news basically online and at a friends
who watches Fox.

Speaker 13 (59:38):
Here's the media.

Speaker 4 (59:39):
Here's the deal, Jessica, we can't find I swear to God,
there is no such thing as news anymore like it
used to be.

Speaker 3 (59:48):
And I mean in.

Speaker 4 (59:49):
My lifetime, I worked at many TV stations, and right
before I retired, I had been working at Channel four
for twenty two years, and then I worked at Fox
Believe for twelve or ten years.

Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
And here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
It's if we just hinted that we were one side
or another, we got in trouble for it. Uh, really
we did. We got in trouble. So Dan, what's going
on with you?

Speaker 14 (01:00:22):
Dan?

Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
Is Dan there? Hello?

Speaker 7 (01:00:29):
Dan?

Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
Are you there?

Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
Okay, I'm gonna move on. Jay your turn? Welcome Jay.
What's going on with you?

Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
Oh? Okay, Jay, what's happening?

Speaker 7 (01:00:45):
It drives me nuts that I can watch your show
and actually share it, or I can listen to it
on the radio and miss it time that I actually
really enjoy watching it on the internet because the government
doesn't let you just scramble and speak freely and act
like a normal human who talks are too. I hate

(01:01:05):
that personally. I think it's ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (01:01:08):
You think that the break should be taken off of broadcast.

Speaker 7 (01:01:13):
Yeah, I think I think they've got them. Just please there.

Speaker 4 (01:01:19):
I don't know how tight it is. I mean, we
we do have a lot of freedom. But you're right,
I do believe that. And and and here's the reasoning
behind it. We were always told that the FCC, the
Federal Communications Commission, grants licenses to use frequencies. See, people
don't realize that we can't just put up a transmitter

(01:01:40):
and open a radio station. The frequencies are controlled by
the government, government property or property of the people. We
should say, and what what broadcast listen to? What broadcast
stations have to do? They're called ascertations on a quarterly base,
it might be annual. Now you have to submit to

(01:02:03):
the government. No one ever reads them, or never used
to read them. You have to submit to the government
what you've done for the public good. Literally, they ask
you questions and you have to show examples of programming
for the public good. And a certain percentage of programming
must be done for the public good. What they define

(01:02:25):
as the public good is discussion of meaningful topics and
other things. Now, let me tell you, for years and
years and years that I was in broadcasting, let me
tell you what that meant. They would put on public
service programs on Saturday morning or Sunday morning, or late

(01:02:45):
late late at night in order to fulfill the assertations
or the requirements that we discuss community issues. People might
wonder why was that even on the air. The reason is, we.

Speaker 3 (01:02:59):
Will instructed, not instructed.

Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
We were required to do shows about community topics, and
they didn't want to put those shows in popular time slots,
so they would relegate them to early morning on a
weekend or late at night during the week.

Speaker 3 (01:03:17):
And then we would then.

Speaker 4 (01:03:19):
Fill out the application, not the application, but the yearly requirement.
We would fill out how much programming we do for
the public good.

Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
It's really a game.

Speaker 4 (01:03:30):
The FCC grants a license and requires stations to do
programming for the public good. Now, Jay, what happened was
the FCC got involved, saying, well, now we have a
serious question about the licensing of so and so, and
by the way, ABC does not carry a license for

(01:03:53):
its affiliates. Each affiliate, each station owner must apply and
be a prove for a license. The affiliation with ABC
is a business decision. So in other words, this radio
station that I'm on iHeart in Denver, that radio station
is granted a license. If it was determined that khow

(01:04:18):
or in the Springs were on Cardio, if it was
determined that we were serving no public good, people could
challenge our license, and licenses in the past for broadcasting
have been taken away. The Internet they don't control, so
if you have a podcast or something on the Internet.

Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
You can do whatever you want.

Speaker 4 (01:04:43):
They cannot tell you what to do because it's not
a public airway. And my prediction is public airways are
going to go away completely.

Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
There will be no need for them.

Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
Everything will be done on broadband or on what we
call the Internet, and there will be no need for
us to put up an antenna and receive a signal,
no need whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (01:05:06):
In fact, it's being phased.

Speaker 4 (01:05:07):
Out more and more and more and cable stations. They
don't have to do anything for the public good. It's
only when you're on the air using.

Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
A public airway that they require that you.

Speaker 4 (01:05:20):
Do something for the public good. Hey, Shannon, tell me
that I did take the thirty. Please tell me I

What's going on?

Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
Hey Tom, I've been listening to you for about twenty
years and I've never even thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
Thank you man. What's happening?

Speaker 10 (01:06:18):
So?

Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
I have an employment law question, and I think I've
kind of know where it's going based on it being
at will. But short version is I applied to a
job back in June, had an interview, got a offer
letter contract in July, and was ready to start at
the end of August. It's at a medical school doing

(01:06:39):
the support staff work there, for sure staff. And there
was no mention those working hours in the job description,
or in the interview or in the contract. And about
like a day or two before I was supposed to start,
to send me an email and said, you know, we
don't want to blindside you, but the hours of this
position are very strictly eight am to four already, bem.

(01:07:01):
And I'm like, well, I have to take in the
school and you know, you know, do you pick them
up in the afternoon and things like that, so I
need little flexibility around me. You know, early in later
times they said, no, that's the hours, Yeah, you can't
do it. Then well I'm just.

Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Sure, yes, for sure, Brett. May I ask the obvious question,
the most obvious question in the world. You applied for
a job and went through the entire process, and you
never asked what time the job was.

Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
Did you assume it was nine to five? Did you
assume it was midnight to three in the morning? Tell
me how does one apply for a job and not
ask that?

Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
You know, I'll be honest, Tom. You know I've applied
to a lot of jobs recently, and like those sorts
of things on it, like within my field, like they
never come up, like I said, not.

Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
Well, well, Brett, of course they come up.

Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
For example, if I apply for a job on the
radio station and I have to be there a certain time.
What I mean is this, Here's what I mean. I'm
not upset, but I'm puzzled as hell. What did you
expect that you could work anytime you wanted?

Speaker 3 (01:08:15):
What was your expectation? What was your expectation, Bret.

Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
My expectation would be something more like nine to five,
and I'm thirty to five, thirty whatever. Like most again,
you know, things very based on your industry, so obviously
yours is way different than mine.

Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
But Brett, no matter what industry it is, they have
a right to outline hours.

Speaker 3 (01:08:37):
And if and if you didn't know.

Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
Which hours you had to work, it's because you didn't ask.
Do you think they would have hit it from you
if you said, by the way, I have kids that
I have to attend to at such and such a time.
What time does this job require me to be there?
I mean, what I guess what I'm saying is and again,

(01:08:59):
you know, I appreciate you're a listener and all of that,
and I saw you on YouTube.

Speaker 3 (01:09:03):
But what I don't understand is what was wrong with
what they did.

Hi Tom Martino, you're a troubleshooter. I am.

Speaker 4 (01:09:53):
I want to clarify because there's a lot of discussion
going on about job offers. Mister B actually said, well,
they didn't specify.

Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
Well, what did you assume?

Speaker 4 (01:10:05):
You are going through this entire process, what did you
assume nine to five, eight to four midnight to three.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
In the morning. What did you assume? And if you say, well,
I didn't know.

Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
Then you should have asked do they have a right
to set hours? Of course they do, and if they
don't meet your expectations, well, it's both of your fault,
but you're the one who is actually applying for the job.

Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
They don't have to alter the job for.

No Tom Martino Martino here, Welcome to the show. Three
O three seven one three talks seven one three A
two five five. We got a call earlier this morning
and Matt called. He had a used twenty seventeen GMC
Canyon he bought from Victory Motors. On his way home

(01:12:04):
from the dealer, it started smoking. He contacted the dealer.
He said, what are my expectations? I said, Well, on
the straight black and white of it, you bought it
as is, and it's your problem. You never had it
checked before you bought it, and they really don't have
to do anything technically. Now, if they lied to you

(01:12:26):
or cheated you in some way, like covered up an
obvious problem or lied to you about.

Speaker 3 (01:12:33):
It, that would be different.

Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
So I said, since they said to bring the car
back in, let's see what they're willing to do for you.
Please call us back. He was on his way to
the dealer right at the beginning of the show. He's
calling us back right now. So Matt, what did the
dealer say they would do?

Speaker 6 (01:12:55):
Got there, Jordan took it into the shop and just
called us back after having breakfast and said that their
kids been an oil league and you're gonna take care
of the whole thing. Nothing out of bounded. He's got
an hundred or something out the cause for a couple
of days. But they went a love and beyond and

(01:13:17):
they're taking care of everything.

Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
Boy, that's really cool. That's good. Did they say where
the oil leak was coming from?

Speaker 6 (01:13:27):
Yes, sir, it was the gasket on the manifold. I
believe that it was a dripping on the manifold.

Speaker 18 (01:13:33):
He said it was.

Speaker 10 (01:13:34):
It was a big enough problem. He's gonna take.

Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
Care of it all, very good. How many miles on this.

Speaker 6 (01:13:42):
One hundred and eleven thousands?

Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
Okay, Matt, why did you buy I'm just curious now,
not giving you a hard time. Why did you buy
something with one hundred and seven or whatever, one hundred
or more than one hundred thousand miles?

Speaker 6 (01:13:58):
Because we got a root for the fifty.

Speaker 14 (01:14:03):
Car, You're going to get a new com Okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
Just as an aside, thank you for calling me. I
appreciate it. As an aside, I want you to know
that you will have problems.

Speaker 4 (01:14:18):
You will absolutely have problems if you buy a car
with more than one hundred thousand miles Kevin jeff Vic
Is that safe to say that they they will absolutely
have problems.

Speaker 5 (01:14:32):
Well, you're gonna have some issues, especially you start hitting
at eight to ten years. One hundred thousand miles of course, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
Yeah, And if they buy them with more than one
hundred and fifty thousand, they will be moderate to severe problems.

Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
And over two hundred thousand it's junk.

Speaker 4 (01:14:48):
No one should ever buy a vehicle with more than
two hundred thousand miles. Now, for those who are getting
ready to text me right now and email me to
say I have three hundred thousand miles on my oh
blah blah blah. Okay, if you could buy a vehicle
from someone who meticulously maintained it and you can verify

(01:15:12):
it and oil changes were done every three to five
thousand miles and they took care of everything whenever they
needed to, then you may want to consider that. But
if not, I would never ever ever buy a car
with more than two hundred thousand miles effort.

Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
Effort.

Speaker 17 (01:15:33):
People, are you know, those some ones that are touting
that I've got, you know, two hundred fifty thousand, three
hundred thousand. If they go back in the market for
a vehicle, Odds are they're not going to look at
a vehicle with two fifty to three hundred thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:15:43):
No, No, they're not.

Speaker 4 (01:15:46):
Again, I know why people buy cars with more than
one hundred thousand because it brings the price down. But
it's better to either pay more for less mileage or
buy a new car and you the money you were
going to put as a down payment. I can show
you mathematically how buying a car with more than one

(01:16:08):
hundred thousand miles is unwise and how for the same
out of pocket or better you will have more luck
with a new car and probably spend less. All right, Lee,
you have a question about appliance repair.

Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
Go ahead, Lee, Yeah, two questions.

Speaker 19 (01:16:30):
Tom, appreciate what you do. Yes, sir, Can you recommend
a good repair shot that works on dishwarshers in Aurora
or Eastend?

Speaker 14 (01:16:41):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
Yeah, I can.

Speaker 9 (01:16:42):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
Here's what pisses me off. Here's what pisses me off.

Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
This guy was on a referral list and I think
he gave it like a month and said, oh, I'm
not getting any calls.

Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
The guy is great. I'm not holding that against him,
But since he went.

Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
Off the referral list, we've had no less than two
dozen inquiries about appliance repair and I've given out his
name at least thirty times. Somebody should maybe call him
and remind him of that. But here's what I'm saying.
The guy is great.

Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
I have never once had a bad review about him.
Everyone I recommend loves him. His name is Roma.

Speaker 19 (01:17:25):
Roma, okay, and it's Apex.

Speaker 4 (01:17:29):
It's Apex is the name of the appliance repair Apex,
Apex Tech. I'm going to give you the number when
you call him. Here's what I want you to say.
Tom Martino gave me your name and number. He tells
me that he gives out. He tells me that he
recommends you all the time.

Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
Just say that. I'm not expecting Roma to do anything,
it's just that.

Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
What really pisses me off is he was on the
referral list for thirty days, and I said, Roma, you
have to give it more than thirty days for people
to know you're there.

Speaker 3 (01:18:05):
But anyway, here's his number. Seven to zero.

Speaker 4 (01:18:10):
Nine eight zero nine eight zero four six zero nine.
All right, thank you. Yeah, I'm not going to stay
on while you repeat that. Thank you very much.

Speaker 10 (01:18:21):
Lee.

Speaker 4 (01:18:22):
All right, let's talk to our auto repair experts. I
got some text messages for them, and let me bring
up the Okay, they're in the shot right now. Someone
wanted to know why with synthetic oil would you still
recommend frequent oil changes.

Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
I don't think you're I don't think you're overdoing it.

Speaker 4 (01:18:43):
Like with regular oil about three thousand miles, right, But
what would you do for synthetic oil, are you? I
would say six thousand would be safe, right? Whatn't even
ten thousand be safe?

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
Kevin?

Speaker 5 (01:18:56):
Yeah, it depends totally on you're driving too. I mean,
if it's a lot of care free highway driving, you
can certainly stretch ten. But in town stop and go
traffic lights. You know, for me, it's three to five
CANVENTIONLM five to seven synthetic Okay, depending on the driving, Okay, yeh,
sure it is.

Speaker 4 (01:19:15):
But I think there's other reasons you go in to
have your oil change, because while you're in there getting
your oil changed, you're looking around for other things, right.

Speaker 5 (01:19:25):
Of course, belts, hoses, you know, look for leagues, anything.
Try to head off any major repairs.

Speaker 4 (01:19:30):
Of course, Okay, three three seven to one three talk
seven one three eight two five five. Somebody who texted
me about Jimmy Kimmel saying during the summer he was
off most of the time anyway, with substitute hosts and
all of that, and that could be true. I had
another question. I'm trying to find it on a used

(01:19:54):
car here.

Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
Let me just find it. Somebody wants to know about.

Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
Do you ever change belts and hoses on time or
do you simply wait for failure?

Speaker 5 (01:20:07):
No, you should be doing them on time. I mean
even if you even if the car isn't being driven.
You know, those things deteriorate.

Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
It's rubber.

Speaker 5 (01:20:14):
I mean, just like the uh, you know, racer on
the end of your pencil.

Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
They dry out.

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
Okay, So what is the time? Does each belt or
hose have a different time limit?

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
I mean, what what?

Speaker 13 (01:20:26):
What do you do?

Speaker 17 (01:20:27):
They'll be scheduled, I mean, you know typically, I mean
I myself do mine on my truck, you know, with
the serpentine belt every fifty thousand miles. You know, I
don't have a timing belt, but timing belts are usually recommended,
depending on the vehicle, anywhere between seventy to one hundred
thousand miles.

Speaker 5 (01:20:41):
Yeah, because the last thing you want to do is
wait for it to break, because it never breaks. It
a good timing right, never, And so.

Speaker 4 (01:20:48):
You should treat it like a mandatory thing at a
certain time or miles just.

Speaker 5 (01:20:53):
Like you're in oiel changes. Yes, or at least inspections
have you whoever's doing your services should be inspecting those components.

Speaker 3 (01:21:01):
All right?

Speaker 4 (01:21:02):

Hi Tom Martino here.

Speaker 14 (01:22:18):
See that.

Speaker 3 (01:22:21):
Ronda? Yeah, we'll talk about her, Randa your next What
what did you want to talk about, Deputy Doc? I
asked you to call on this one.

Speaker 12 (01:22:30):
Oh yeah, I remember Judy had her dogs. She's being
asked to leave because the HOA got complaints about her dogs. Yes,
so I got a little more information. It sounds like
one of the incidents was true. One of them was
kind of made up. But when we went over the contract,
there was a clause that said they had to give

(01:22:51):
her a thirty day notice to resolve the issue, which
they never did.

Speaker 3 (01:22:56):
They only told that she is seventy two hours.

Speaker 12 (01:22:59):
So I told what she should do is put to
ask somebody to take care of the dogs for a
couple of days, send them a certified letter saying that
they did not fulfill their part of the contract, and
therefore lee. She has thirty days to solve the issue,
not seventy two hours.

Speaker 3 (01:23:18):
So you know what?

Speaker 10 (01:23:20):
So were you?

Speaker 3 (01:23:21):
Are you the one that discovered that?

Speaker 12 (01:23:23):
Well we were talking about I asked her a look
in the contract to what it says about you know,
Newsom's dogs, and said that they required a thirty day
notice to solve the issue before they issued a seventy
two hour deadline.

Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
No, I get it.

Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
So first she gets thirty days, then she gets seventy
two hours if she doesn't comply.

Speaker 3 (01:23:43):
Right, all right, great, thank you very much, Doc, I
give you a conditional dinger. That's this one. Anyway, Ronda,
what's going on? What's going on? Ronda?

Speaker 6 (01:24:00):
Second? Can you hear me?

Speaker 17 (01:24:03):
Hear me?

Speaker 3 (01:24:04):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (01:24:04):
I can.

Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
What's happening?

Speaker 4 (01:24:06):
So?

Speaker 9 (01:24:06):
I got a car from a used car dealership of
car automotor cars.

Speaker 3 (01:24:11):
What kind of what? What kind of car?

Speaker 9 (01:24:14):
Twenty eighteen Hondo accord okay? And I traded in my
twenty nineteen Infinity.

Speaker 7 (01:24:22):
Two fifty.

Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
Okay.

Speaker 9 (01:24:26):
So on the way home from getting this car.

Speaker 1 (01:24:29):
It broke down.

Speaker 9 (01:24:30):
It went in mode, it was fash all kinds of codes.

Speaker 4 (01:24:33):
I'm going to ask the same question I asked hundreds
and hundreds and hundreds of people. Why did you buy
a car without having it checked out from a mechanic?

Speaker 16 (01:24:43):
First, I have no idea.

Speaker 9 (01:24:46):
I'm an idiot.

Speaker 4 (01:24:46):
I guess no, you're not an idiot, because there's too
many idiots out there. I mean, in other words, everyone
does it. So you bought a twenty eighteen.

Speaker 3 (01:24:56):
Hondo a cord. How many miles on it?

Speaker 9 (01:24:59):
One hundred and twenty thous.

Speaker 3 (01:25:01):
So that's even more reason.

Speaker 4 (01:25:03):
What you bought a used Honda nineteen twenty one, okay,
a seven year old Honda with one hundred and twenty
thousand miles, and you're surprised that something went wrong with it.

Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
Again, I'm not talking to you individually.

Speaker 4 (01:25:17):
I'm just saying in general, people do not buy a
car without having it checked out.

Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
Anyway, What is wrong with the car?

Speaker 9 (01:25:25):
Okay? So they picked it up and they called me
the next day, said it was fixed. I went and
got it. Well, it broke down. What was what?

Speaker 4 (01:25:32):
When you say broke down, that's what I need to know.
What are you talking about? How was it broken down?

Speaker 9 (01:25:37):
So it went in limp mode. It it would only
go twenty miles an hour. It was slashing a whole
bunch of your codes. I said, see your dealer, take
it to your dealership right away.

Speaker 14 (01:25:48):
All this stuff.

Speaker 9 (01:25:48):
The check engine light came on.

Speaker 3 (01:25:51):
The okay, okay, what did it turn out to be?

Speaker 10 (01:25:56):
Okay?

Speaker 9 (01:25:57):
So the finance company called on the twenty fifth of August.
They never came in pixted it the second time.

Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
Well we're Ronda.

Speaker 4 (01:26:06):
You're making it sound like they're supposed to fix it, right, right, right?

Speaker 3 (01:26:10):
So did you have hold on? I might be wrong, Randa.
Did you have a warranty?

Speaker 10 (01:26:16):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:26:16):
I did not, Okay, And when you say the finance company,
first of all, I need to find out some dates.

Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
When did you actually buy it.

Speaker 18 (01:26:26):
On August ninth?

Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
On August ninth, and how much did you pay for it?

Speaker 9 (01:26:32):
I think with the trade in it was like fourteen thousand, so.

Speaker 4 (01:26:36):
You overpaid for it drastically. So you paid fourteen plus
the trade in. Yes, yeah, you got ripped off.

Speaker 10 (01:26:44):
I know.

Speaker 22 (01:26:45):
I realized that.

Speaker 4 (01:26:46):
I mean you got totally ripped off. Like I can't
even explain you. You paid double what that car is.

Speaker 3 (01:26:54):
Worth, right right?

Speaker 1 (01:26:56):
I realized that.

Speaker 3 (01:26:57):
But why did Ronda, I don't want to gloss over this.
Why did you not?

Speaker 4 (01:27:03):
Why did you not know that when you bought it
that you were paying twice as much? Any search on
the internet would have told you that.

Speaker 9 (01:27:11):
I have no idea what it was. What I was
you even speaking that day?

Speaker 3 (01:27:15):
Okay? Got it?

Speaker 12 (01:27:16):
Really?

Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
So you bought Okay, listen, I don't want to keep
rubbing your nose in it, but I just can't believe
you bought a twenty eighteen Honda a Cord with one
hundred and twenty thousand miles and you traded in a car.

Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
Was your car paid for that you traded in?

Speaker 16 (01:27:30):
Yes, yes it was.

Speaker 10 (01:27:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:27:33):
I'm done find it at myself.

Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
Actually, okay, so.

Speaker 4 (01:27:36):
Where does it Let's try to at least get you
out with the minimal amount of harm.

Speaker 3 (01:27:41):
Where does it stand right now?

Speaker 9 (01:27:44):
So the finance the bank called me on the twenty fifth,
and they said when I told him I was having
issues with the car, you know, and I was just
talking to the lady about it, she said she would
call me back, and then two hours later they repossessed
the car.

Speaker 3 (01:27:57):
Had you okay, did you miss any pa.

Speaker 9 (01:28:01):
My payments weren't even do yet?

Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
What wait a minute, they wait? Wait, wait, wait wait?

Speaker 4 (01:28:08):
How did they repossess the car when you didn't even
miss a payment?

Speaker 9 (01:28:12):
I have no idea. They said that I wasn't communicating
with the bank, and which wasn't true because I had
just talked to the bank.

Speaker 13 (01:28:18):
Bank.

Speaker 9 (01:28:20):
Oh my, I guess the financing was pending I didn't
know it was pending.

Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
What dealer did you buy? The Colorado Motor Company? Where
are they?

Speaker 9 (01:28:29):
They're in Inglewood and Denver.

Speaker 3 (01:28:33):
So the car went into lymph mode and the bank
called you.

Speaker 9 (01:28:38):
Yeah, the bank called me in the twenty fifth.

Speaker 3 (01:28:41):
Why did the bank call you?

Speaker 9 (01:28:44):
Because they told me that the financing was pending, and
they was.

Speaker 6 (01:28:47):
They was calling me to go over a few thinks.

Speaker 9 (01:28:49):
You think, okay, finalized the financing.

Speaker 4 (01:28:52):
But you know okay to find so so hold on.
So you bought a car, paid double for it and
never had it checked out, and took it before the
loan was finalized. Everything you can, everything you can do
wrong in a car deal, you did every everything you did.

(01:29:13):
Absolutely everything you did is I could write a book
do not do or Ronda did? And it would be
a It would be a good book on how to
buy a car? Now, Ronda, where does it stand right now?
How can we help you?

Speaker 9 (01:29:28):
They have both cars, they told me in order because
I said, well, you guys took your car back, so
I guess the deals void. Can I have my credit back?

Speaker 13 (01:29:37):
Mary?

Speaker 9 (01:29:38):
And they said, if you pays fifty six hundred dollars?

Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
Wait? How to wait?

Speaker 13 (01:29:43):
Wait?

Speaker 10 (01:29:43):
Wait?

Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
Wait, what do they mean fifty six hundred dollars?

Speaker 9 (01:29:47):
They're trying to charge me for the time I had
their car and whatever work that they did to my
car and a repossessions date.

Speaker 3 (01:29:54):
Oh my god, how long did this go on? How
long did you have the car?

Speaker 9 (01:30:01):
I had the car for seventeen days?

Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
Technically only seventeen days. Yeah, who has your trade in
the dealer?

Speaker 10 (01:30:12):
Yep?

Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
Okay, we need to help you out here. This is
ridiculous that this is absolutely ridiculous. Who wants the fifty
six hundred dollars from you? The dealer? This is bull crap. Now,
we really need to help you.

Speaker 14 (01:30:29):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:30:30):
Oh we really do.

Speaker 4 (01:30:31):
We need someone aggressive to get on the phone with
these people that car was repossessed and they want fifty
six hundred. Did they say what the fifty six hundred
is for?

Speaker 9 (01:30:44):
They said, we're using their car and for any work
that they've been to my car and the repossession fee.

Speaker 4 (01:30:50):
Okay, I can see where they want you to pay
for use of their car, but it was only seventeen days,
and they're only allowed to charge urge you a certain
ten days unless they because they didn't get the con
they didn't get the loan approved. You know, Doc, I
need you to call on this, and I need you

(01:31:12):
to not call her. I need you to call this
dealer after you get the details. There's first of all,
they're just screwing her.

Speaker 3 (01:31:19):
That's all it is. Let's just call it what it is.
I mean, technically, technically she.

Speaker 4 (01:31:25):
Did absolutely, positively everything wrong everything, But why should she
be penalized fifty six hundred dollars for God's sakes that
I don't understand.

Speaker 5 (01:31:39):
They may have done five thousand dollars repairls on it?

Speaker 3 (01:31:42):
Well, yeah, but they didn't they did? They say how
much they did to your car? And how the car
you traded in?

Speaker 14 (01:31:48):
What was it?

Speaker 9 (01:31:50):
It was a twenty nineteen Infinity.

Speaker 3 (01:31:53):
And what was wrong with it?

Speaker 9 (01:31:55):
The air conditioner didn't work, but they took that off.
Originally they were going to give me a so they
only give me forty five hundred for the trading because
of the air condscerned it not working?

Speaker 3 (01:32:06):
Did they work? Did they work on it after you
traded it in?

Speaker 9 (01:32:09):
Supposedly they said they.

Speaker 3 (01:32:11):
Did you okay, how much? Okay, well you may have
to pay for that. How much did they do?

Speaker 9 (01:32:17):
I don't know. He just gave me a note. He
said it was like twenty two dollars. It's the number
he gave me.

Speaker 1 (01:32:25):
Okay for the AC.

Speaker 9 (01:32:28):
They took that out of the amount that they gave me.

Speaker 4 (01:32:32):
Okay, I understand that. But then they but then I
understand they took it out. But it's not like you
paid them that amount of money.

Speaker 3 (01:32:40):
Right, right, right, So technically, if they fixed your AC,
you kind of owe them.

Speaker 4 (01:32:47):
They should not have done that before the deal was
finalized see deputy doc. Under Colorado law, they did a
lot of stuff before financing was approved. We need we,
honest a god, need people, an attorney who can help
out here.

Speaker 3 (01:33:02):
This is wrong, This is just wrong.

Speaker 5 (01:33:05):
Does work?

Speaker 18 (01:33:07):
Tom?

Speaker 3 (01:33:08):
You know what we have not so much has gotten
a phone call from that woman really really hard to
get a hold of.

Speaker 4 (01:33:14):
I mean, I don't even think, to be honest with you,
if she's that hard to get a hold of, I
wouldn't bother she probably if she can't communicate with us,
for God's sake, so I don't think she's communicating with
her clients. I don't even want to talk about her anymore.
We need, we need an attorney. But first I want
to call the dealer and see if we can talk

(01:33:35):
them down off the ledge. For God's sakes, this woman
went in and got totally screwed, absolutely totally screwed. And
I don't want to take no for an answer. They
need to help her out here. And the bank repossessed it.
But they was never even financed fully. And if it was,
then what I want to know is did they get

(01:33:56):
paid from the bank. There are so many question uestions
on this deal, doc, because the way it was supposed
to be is this, they take her trade. They're not
supposed to touch her trade until the financing is approved, right, Okay,
So if they started doing repairs before financing was approved,
and then financing is not approved, they can't go back

(01:34:17):
and charge her. Look, Ronda, God almighty, never buy a
car ever again.

Speaker 3 (01:34:24):
Without somebody being with you.

Speaker 10 (01:34:27):
I hear you.

Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
No, I'm serious, Rnda. It's it's and you didn't even
buy a newer car. You bought a car one year newer. No,
you bought a car one year older. Why did you
do it? I don't know.

Speaker 13 (01:34:40):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
Oh wait, Ronda, are you telling me just one day
you felt like buying a car?

Speaker 14 (01:34:47):
Well, no, I was.

Speaker 9 (01:34:48):
I was looking online and I put my car on
Kelly Bluebook to see, you know what I could get
for it. And they called me back and they they
said that they were they were interested in my car,
and down in the next day and they just kind
of talk best and I just I don't know what
I why.

Speaker 3 (01:35:06):
Okay, Ronda may I ask how old you are?

Speaker 9 (01:35:09):
Forty seven?

Speaker 3 (01:35:12):
You lived a while, I mean.

Speaker 9 (01:35:15):
My last car, So I don't know what I'm thinking.

Speaker 3 (01:35:20):
I was, Okay, I gotta take a break.

Speaker 5 (01:35:23):
Doc.

Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
Let's just see, please what they say. Let me let
me know what they say. We got more coming up.

Martinez here, Welcome to the show and I'm so discouraged
today on people that are getting ripped off. You know,

(01:36:19):
I know that people should do certain things when they
buy cars, but in my opinion, that's no excuse to
rip them off. I know, if you're in the car business,
you're thinking, well I got away with that one.

Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
This woman is being completely screwed completely. It's just not right.

Speaker 4 (01:36:42):
God, I'm so sick and tired of liars and cheaters
and ripoffs. And here are the two top liars, cheaters
and ripoffs in my opinion, used car salesman and contractors.

Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
You both suck. I'm just sick and tired of it. Brian,
what's going on with you?

Speaker 13 (01:37:04):
Brian?

Speaker 14 (01:37:05):
Thanks?

Speaker 10 (01:37:06):
Yeah, so I got it's sort of an auto warranty
question for you.

Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
Sure.

Speaker 10 (01:37:11):
So we ended up we ended up buying a two
thousand and eight Odyssey. It's got it had one hundred
and thirty five thousand on it. We ended up getting
the endurance insurance.

Speaker 3 (01:37:21):
Okay, hold on a second.

Speaker 4 (01:37:22):
You had one hundred and thirty five thousand miles when
you bought it?

Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
Yes, Now what year is it?

Speaker 10 (01:37:32):
Two thousand and eight?

Speaker 3 (01:37:33):
Why did you buy something with that many miles on it?

Speaker 10 (01:37:38):
Well, just because of the price.

Speaker 3 (01:37:41):
Okay, got it, Yeah it was.

Speaker 10 (01:37:44):
It was three thousand dollars, so we just need one.

Speaker 3 (01:37:46):
Oh my god.

Speaker 4 (01:37:47):
Oh oh okay, Well, thank goodness you didn't overpay for it, brother.

Speaker 10 (01:37:52):
No, no, no, no, no. I definitely do my diligence
in buying cars. Anyway. My question is, so we've got
that endurance, the warranty insurance on that. You guys were
talking about serpentine belts and timing belts, and I was wondering,
does anybody know if insurance the insurance.

Speaker 3 (01:38:11):
No, I'm sorry, they won't cover it.

Speaker 10 (01:38:13):
No, it won't cover it until it breaks.

Speaker 3 (01:38:16):
No, they won't.

Speaker 4 (01:38:17):
Okay, they won't cover it if it breaks if you
didn't do the normal maintenance. But first of all, you
bought a crap insurance policy. Okay, insurance means nothing, mean
the used car warranties are not worth the paper they're
written on.

Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
Okay. There are more exclusions in that damn thing than anything.
One of the exclusions is this, listen carefully. If normal
maintenance is not maintained.

Speaker 4 (01:38:47):
According to factory specifications, they will cover no consequential damage
or subsequential damages as a result of that. So let's
say the timing change or belt should have been changed
at a certain interval and you didn't do it, they

(01:39:08):
won't fix it when it breaks. So what I need
to know is this, guys, does that have a timing
belt that has to be changed on the eight Honda van?

Speaker 5 (01:39:20):
Yeah, it does. It definitely has a belt, and at.

Speaker 3 (01:39:24):
One hundred and thirty thousand miles, I would say he's
due for his second one pretty close.

Speaker 17 (01:39:31):
Yeah, and that is considered a maintenance item. There's not
a warranty company out there's going to touch it any
different than your breaks.

Speaker 3 (01:39:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:39:37):
The only way you get away with them pay for it.
If your water pump leaks, they may pay for the
water pump and then cover party labor, you know, just
as an overlap.

Speaker 3 (01:39:47):
So, Brian, Brian, do you know when the last time
the change that excuse me, the belt was changed?

Speaker 10 (01:39:55):
You know? I don't because I was looking through the
paperwork that was there and I don't see. So I'm
a little concerned. I'll pray just get that done as
soon as possible.

Speaker 3 (01:40:04):
What would that cost.

Speaker 10 (01:40:06):
Like about eight hundred bucks maybe, okay?

Speaker 3 (01:40:11):
And you were hoping the warrant you would cover it.

Speaker 10 (01:40:13):
Yeah, I was hoping the warrant you would cover it.
But if they don't cover that type of thing, that's
what I was just trying to picture out.

Speaker 3 (01:40:20):
Okay, yeah in honor.

Speaker 10 (01:40:22):
Do they have a price for that.

Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
Shared in auto? What do you think? Guys?

Speaker 5 (01:40:26):
Yeah, if you call the shop, they can put an
estimate together for you.

Speaker 3 (01:40:30):
He can. What do you do you have any idea,
any guests as to what it might be getting.

Speaker 5 (01:40:34):
I mean, it's anywhere from probably eight nine hundred to
fourteen fifteen hundred something in that range. Wow, Because we'll
do the water pump, will do all the pulleys. We
do everything together. We don't just do the belt right right,
So there's a timing belt water pump kit, you know,
plus labor. But he, you know, Isaiah's good at popping
an estimate to you. He'll look it up and you know,
text it to you.

Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
All right. Thank you for calling, Thank you for calling you.

Speaker 4 (01:40:59):
At least you didn't overpay for that sucker, so I
don't feel too bad for you.

Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
You paid three grand. That's not bad for that is
a guys. What do you think?

Speaker 5 (01:41:06):
No, I think you did great. That's a yeah car
for three.

Speaker 3 (01:41:09):
Yeah, I think you did a good job there. Bro.

Speaker 4 (01:41:12):
Let's talk to John with a question on oil filters. John,
go ahead, what's happening?

Speaker 13 (01:41:18):
Yeah, I just was wondering talking about synthetic oil versus
rest of oil and what's good for a filter. I
think that's one of the crucial parts is coming to
keep the oil plan.

Speaker 4 (01:41:33):
Okay, you know what, that's a good question. Hold on,
we talk about synthetic oil. What about is there such
thing as special synthetic oil filters for synthetic oil?

Speaker 3 (01:41:42):
More on that coming up.

(01:42:25):
three O three seven one three talk seven one three
eight two five five. Welcome to the show. Wow, I
don't know are we making any headway, I hope. So
John had a good question, guys, how do oil filters
work when it comes to synthetic oil? Use a regular

(01:42:46):
filter or they're special filters?

Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
What about it?

Speaker 17 (01:42:49):
Oh, there is really a special filter per se. And
you know we were talking off the air a little
bit too. I mean, if you buying a car today,
everything's synthetic, so you're I mean the oils you're using
are synthetic. But as far as oil filters themselves are concerned,
you don't want to go with the you know, the
cheap Charlie, you know, two dollars off of the parts department, sir.
You know, we've been sticking, like Kevin was saying earlier that, yeah,

(01:43:11):
pretty much going with oe stuff. I also I'm a
fan of Wicks, but I you know, don't go with
their cheaper one. I tend to go with their premium.

Speaker 5 (01:43:19):
Yeah. If it's if they have a platinum option for
the filter, go platinum.

Speaker 4 (01:43:24):
You know, when you think about it, when you really
think about it, oil and filters are the cheapest things
you'll ever do for your car.

Speaker 3 (01:43:33):
Yep, So why skimp on it? I mean, I mean,
what are filters nowadays? Normal? Good filters.

Speaker 5 (01:43:41):
It depends on the car. I mean yours was you know,
forty bucks, but I mean probably seven to ten dollars
for the premium filter that you can find on the shelf.

Speaker 3 (01:43:50):
Wow. Yeah, so John, I hope that answers your question.

Speaker 4 (01:43:58):
Anyway, that was a good question. Yeah, it is a
good question. Don't skimp on filters. Go with synthetic whenever
you can. And Paris wants to talk about a twenty
thirteen Dodge Avenger Dodge?

Speaker 10 (01:44:15):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:44:15):
Hold on? What just happened here? Hold on? Why am
I hearing an echo? Hold on? That might be me here?

Speaker 14 (01:44:21):
Let me just hold on me.

Speaker 3 (01:44:24):
I don't know how that happened. I don't know where
I'm getting that from. Guys? Is that from the It's
not for me? Oh? It was him? Okay, let's go.
Let's go and talk to Paris. Paris. What's going on
to Paris? What's going on? All right? Guys, what's happening

(01:44:45):

Speaker 4 (01:44:48):
Then then then hang up, we're not talking to him. Okay,
Just let's go to the next call. Steven, what's happening

Speaker 3 (01:44:57):

Speaker 3 (01:45:02):

Speaker 22 (01:45:06):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
I have a.

Speaker 10 (01:45:09):
Comes on too many oils? Almost like a.

Speaker 3 (01:45:14):
Thinker last Yeah, A twenty eighteen Tucson. Yes, and what
is the problem, Stephen.

Speaker 5 (01:45:24):
It's using way too much to oil?

Speaker 3 (01:45:27):
How much? Yeah? But how much oil?

Speaker 5 (01:45:29):
Court every five miles?

Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
Okay, what do you guys think common problem with the
Hyundai is it? Is it not? Is it something that
can be fixed or is it something he lives with?

Speaker 5 (01:45:43):
We run a flush and everything through. It seems to
help some, but there is a little You're not going
to fix it.

Speaker 3 (01:45:48):

Speaker 4 (01:46:58):
Hello, Tom Martino here, welcome three seven one three talk
seven one three eight two five five. Let's uh talk
to you about your problems, questions and complaints. Eric wants
to talk about his cabin. Eric, Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 3 (01:47:18):
Ay man?

Speaker 7 (01:47:19):
I'm here to call you on a car day.

Speaker 3 (01:47:21):
Uh, it doesn't matter. We take any and all calls, man,
any and all calls.

Speaker 22 (01:47:25):
All right, buddy, So we got my cabin got hit
by a tornado while back. I talked to you a
few weeks ago about the insurance side of this. But yes,
we're reading the rebuild process and getting a permit to
replace the deck that was there.

Speaker 10 (01:47:40):
It's close.

Speaker 22 (01:47:41):
They were asking me when I was finding for the permit,
is that within one hundred feet of the creek that's
on my property And it's getting close, and I'm wondering
if I'm just replacing exactly what was there before and
my grandfathered into old guidelines, or as am I now
against whatever the newest you're.

Speaker 4 (01:48:01):
Up against the new what once Once it is destroyed
and you have to replace it, you're under the new guidelines.

Speaker 1 (01:48:11):
Wow, Like I can't get into my cabin.

Speaker 22 (01:48:13):
Without building the deck.

Speaker 18 (01:48:15):
And if if they called me on.

Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
Well, you can ask for a very hold on.

Speaker 4 (01:48:20):
You can ask for a variance based on the fact
that it was like that and that you can't get
into your cabin. Otherwise, they're going to be reasonable about it,
especially if it was like that before.

Speaker 3 (01:48:31):
But it's not automatic, gotcha.

Speaker 22 (01:48:35):
So I just have to give them a reason why
we're doing the It's not we're not expanding it, we're
not changing the footprint nothing. We're just putting it back
to where it was.

Speaker 3 (01:48:43):
But uh, they called it the problem is. Here's the problem, bro,
here's the problem.

Speaker 4 (01:48:49):
The variance is not going to be is not going
to be given to you by the building department. Okay,
you have to go to the zoning department to get a.

Speaker 3 (01:48:59):
Variant, gotcha. Okay, but let me ask you something. Right
on the permit, the only thing giving you away is
an answer to the question.

Speaker 22 (01:49:13):
They wanted a site plan that I had to draw
up on the spot. It was pretty kindergarten but evidently.

Speaker 4 (01:49:20):
Okay, well, here's what I want to know. How many
feet does it show the deck from the creek?

Speaker 10 (01:49:27):
I was just my plan.

Speaker 22 (01:49:29):
I drew it up, and I guestimated one hundred and
fifty to two hundred feet, So I think we're there.
But I just was like, man, if it's like depending
on where they would measure it, I guess.

Speaker 10 (01:49:39):
It could be a little closer.

Speaker 4 (01:49:40):
So well, here's what I want to ask you, Eric,
are they going to come out and are they going to.

Speaker 3 (01:49:47):
Check it?

Speaker 22 (01:49:49):
That's a good question because it is out in the
middle of VFE, you know, and so if.

Speaker 3 (01:49:56):
It's just a few feed here or there, I doubt
anyone's going to take the tape measure out. Okay, Okay,
I appreciate, and I'm not telling you to lie, but
it was like that before. I doubt anyone's gonna come out.

Speaker 4 (01:50:08):
And even if they do come out, I doubt they're
going to bring a tape measure with them.

Speaker 3 (01:50:13):
I wouldn't bother getting into the weeds on this one, right.

Speaker 22 (01:50:17):
I appreciate that, And uh, you got you kept me
out of trouble for about two or three decades, so
I appreciate.

Speaker 10 (01:50:24):
All your help over the years.

Speaker 4 (01:50:25):
Okay, well listen man, thank you for calling. I appreciate it.
Three oh three seven one three eight two five five.
Now we're going to go back to Paris, and hopefully
we don't have that echo on the line anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:50:35):
Paris. Go ahead, what's going on?

Speaker 5 (01:50:37):
Paris?

Speaker 14 (01:50:39):
Hey, that's going So I've actually got uh getting the
run around with this dealership. It's called well, what's what?

Speaker 3 (01:50:47):
Tell me? What the tell me? What the issue is?

Speaker 14 (01:50:52):
Issue is the So I actually contacted them to buy
a certain card. He gave me the run around, lid
to me someone else offering double for it. The day
of long story short, I ended up going and I
needed a car asap. He knew that, so he put
us in this two thirteen Dog Avenger.

Speaker 4 (01:51:10):
No, no, no, let me reword this. He knew you
needed a car. He didn't force you, and he didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
Put you in it. You got in it yourself. I
just Paris. I gotta list lay this out the way
it is.

Speaker 4 (01:51:21):
If you bought a twenty thirteen Dodge Avenger, then you
bought a twenty thirteen Dodge Avenger.

Speaker 3 (01:51:27):
You can't blame anybody for it.

Speaker 4 (01:51:29):
What is wrong with the twenty thirteen Dodge of Avenger?

Speaker 14 (01:51:34):
So I recently got pulled over.

Speaker 3 (01:51:37):
And by the way, where did you buy it from?

Speaker 14 (01:51:40):
It's a place called car Contents and where are they located?
Off Union Boulevard?

Speaker 3 (01:51:46):
Okay, So what's going on now? So you got pulled over?
What happened?

Speaker 14 (01:51:51):
So they informed me that my tags were not real.
They were made up there for listening from two thousand
twenty four or something like that.

Speaker 3 (01:52:03):
Are you talking about your temp tags.

Speaker 14 (01:52:05):
My Keemp tag?

Speaker 3 (01:52:06):
Yes, they said they were not real. What do they
mean by that?

Speaker 14 (01:52:12):
They said that they had been guess forged. They're not real?

Speaker 3 (01:52:16):
Okay they yeah, Okay, so that that's the bad news.

Speaker 14 (01:52:24):
True. So to make things worse, I realized that the
horn didn't work, and then one day I was messing
with my head rest and it popped open in Paris.

Speaker 3 (01:52:35):
Are you complaining about the tags or are you complaining
about the car? I'm a little confused right now.

Speaker 14 (01:52:41):
That's just what That's just what was initially wrong with it.
But what the major issue is is it?

Speaker 3 (01:52:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:52:47):
I want to know the main issue you're calling about
what are what are you actually calling about today?

Speaker 14 (01:52:52):
You paid twenty three for it? Right, everything's fine, We
paid it all cash that day. The guy actual please
scratched out after we signed it, scratched out the price
of the car and put down twelve thousand that I owed,
and proceeded to contact me saying that I needed to

(01:53:13):
make a payment of you know whatever, that's I think
twelve hundred dollars.

Speaker 4 (01:53:17):
Was right, So Paris, in Paris, I need to make
sure Paris. I need to make sure I understand you.

Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
You're saying you.

Speaker 4 (01:53:25):
Bought a twenty thirteen Dodge a Venture and you paid
twenty three hundred dollars for it. But car Concepts is
saying that was just a down payment. Yeah, essentially, Well
it is whatever you signed.

Speaker 3 (01:53:43):
So if you signed that, you owe money. You owe money.
If you didn't, you don't mind.

Speaker 14 (01:53:49):
No, I signed the paper saying that I paid for
the car in full, and he proceeded to scratch out
the payment the amount that I paid.

Speaker 3 (01:54:00):
Yeah. Yeah, but here's what I need to know, Paris.

Speaker 4 (01:54:02):
When you paid the twenty three hundred and got a
receipt for it, even if.

Speaker 3 (01:54:08):
He scratched it, out on his copy. It's not on
your copy.

Speaker 14 (01:54:15):
No, it's so the not on my copy? Yes, it
is on my copy.

Speaker 4 (01:54:20):
Well, how did you let him scratch out on your
copy when you got a receipt for paying for the car?

Speaker 3 (01:54:28):
How did he get a hold of your copy of
the receipt?

Speaker 14 (01:54:32):
Well, he did it initially, So when he when we
signed everything and everything was cool on the pages that
he was talking gives us he must have done it
right after you signed it.

Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
Okay, So hold on, is it? But is it obvious? Paris?
Is it obvious that he signed it? I mean that
excuse me that he scratched it out.

Speaker 14 (01:54:56):
Oh, it's very obvious.

Speaker 3 (01:54:58):
Okay. So he he is saying you owe him money quick?
Can you get us a copy of that?

Speaker 4 (01:55:09):
I got to see what you're talking about when you
tell him you bought it for twenty three hundred I
don't even know how much would a twenty thirteen Dodge
Avenger go for.

Speaker 3 (01:55:17):
I don't even know.

Speaker 5 (01:55:18):
Looking online, there anywhere between six and twelve thirteen thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:55:22):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:55:24):
Why did you think you were getting it for twenty
three hundred dollars? Do you think he did that to
trick you.

Speaker 14 (01:55:31):
Oh, definitely considering. We went up there to buy it,
purchase a car that actually cost He had it posted
at eighteen one hundred. So we went up there with
cash to buy it out right, I mean, And when
we paid, he said that we paid for the taxes
and everything. He knew how much money we had in
our budget. Like I said, he gave us around, wouldn't

(01:55:52):
tell us the car we wanted and put it in
this one, the one I bought Paris.

Speaker 4 (01:55:56):
Will you stop saying not Paris, I'm sorry, will you
see it is Paris? Paris, stops saying that he wouldn't
sell you the car you wanted and put you in
another one.

Speaker 18 (01:56:06):
You bought that car.

Speaker 3 (01:56:09):
Period. You bought that car. He didn't put you into it.
You put yourself into it.

Speaker 4 (01:56:16):
Okay, I can't go with this mental concept that you
didn't buy it. You did buy it, you chose it,
you paid for it. Now I'll help you with the
other problem, but stop making excuses that he wouldn't sell
you the one you wanted. Guess what if someone doesn't
sell me what I want, I walk away. I don't

(01:56:38):
make him put me in another car. It's it is
an excuse. He didn't put you into that car. He
didn't force you to buy it. Did he force you
to buy it?

Speaker 14 (01:56:49):
Obviously? No, No, that's the true He was taking what
I'm saying wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:56:55):
I'm taking it literally. I'm taking what you're saying literally.
Listen in Paris. If you want help with this, I
can help you.

Speaker 3 (01:57:04):
But I'm he did not put you in that car.
You put yourself in that car, and you bought it
for what you thought was two thousand what's that? Okay?

Speaker 4 (01:57:21):
So you thought it was going to be twenty three
hundred dollars with taxes and everything.

Speaker 3 (01:57:26):
He altered the.

Speaker 4 (01:57:27):
Paperwork to make it look like that was just a
down payment. How much does he say you owe.

Speaker 3 (01:57:33):
Right now two thousand, twelve thousand dollars? Did you tell
him that he's full of crap?

Speaker 14 (01:57:45):
Yes, yes, he knew that.

Speaker 3 (01:57:47):
So where's the car? Where's the Dodge Avenger right now?

Speaker 14 (01:57:52):
It's sitting in my footyard?

Speaker 3 (01:57:55):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (01:57:55):
And what is does he say he's going to repossess
it or what is he threatening to do right now?

Speaker 14 (01:58:02):
Right now? We've lost contact with him. The I've tried
to get contacted about the fact that the car was
supposed to.

Speaker 3 (01:58:09):
Not have been.

Speaker 14 (01:58:11):
Told or anything like that. He told me that it wasn't.
I said, the car was.

Speaker 3 (01:58:17):
The car was not supposed to be what.

Speaker 14 (01:58:20):
It wasn't supposed to be wrecked like, it wasn't supposed
to be there's supposed to be nothing wrong with it.
Was supposed to be totally fine running, et cetera.

Speaker 4 (01:58:27):
He never told me, well, Paris, Paris, when you had
the car checked out before, when you had the car
checked out.

Speaker 3 (01:58:33):
Before you bought it, or did they say it had
been in a wreck? Two? No, he had when you
had the when you if.

Speaker 4 (01:58:43):
You bought a twenty thirteen Dodge Avenger, I was assuming.

Speaker 3 (01:58:47):
You had it checked out before you bought it.

Speaker 14 (01:58:50):
We just did a you know, checked it out ourselves.
I bought my wife, okay, And it was just like
I have a quick thing.

Speaker 3 (01:58:59):
Okay. Did your wife's uncle know that it was in
a wreck?

Speaker 10 (01:59:04):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:59:05):
Okay, So why didn't he notice it was in a wreck.

Speaker 14 (01:59:13):
Because of suddenly he told us it wasn't and we didn't.
We didn't realize the horn didn't work until after you
get a car fax from and that's what let us
led to us realizing that the airbags are not in
the car.

Speaker 3 (01:59:25):
Paris, Paris, I'm going to just tell you the truth. Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:59:29):
Now I want to help you, but I'm going to
tell you the truth. You bought that car as Is,
and you didn't get the car checked out. You just
believed everything you were told. Okay, you made a giant
You made a giant mistake, a giant mistake. You you
bought that car. You believed everything you were told. And

(01:59:51):
now that doesn't mean the guy can cheat you. He
can't cheat you. But here's what I want to know.
Are you positive he scratched out everything before right after.

Speaker 3 (02:00:03):
You paid for it.

Speaker 14 (02:00:05):
I'm positive?

Speaker 3 (02:00:07):
Okay, how are you going to prove it?

Speaker 14 (02:00:11):
I mean there was a told a camera it would
be on camera. We did it right in his office.
There was three of us present when we signed the paperwork.
Initially before that we were talking about it is.

Speaker 4 (02:00:21):
By the way, Paris. I believe you, Paris, I believe you.
You thought you were buying it for twenty three hundred dollars. Rick,
what are you going to do now?

Speaker 3 (02:00:32):
But you but you don't even want it for twenty
three hundred, do you?

Speaker 14 (02:00:37):
That's what we signed for, was to purchase the car
for twenty three hundred dollars. That's what we talked about.
That's what we fined it for.

Speaker 4 (02:00:43):
Yeah, here's what I'm asking. Do you want the car
for twenty three hundred?

Speaker 14 (02:00:49):
By what is the car?

Speaker 3 (02:00:52):
I mean it's for twenty three for twenty three hundred.

Speaker 14 (02:00:57):
I'm trying to figure out what I can do with it.
Point no, I don't want the car at twenty hundred
dollars because it wasn't what he said it was.

Speaker 3 (02:01:04):
Okay, got it. So you want to know you want
to undo the.

Speaker 14 (02:01:09):
Deal Lemon car type situation.

Speaker 4 (02:01:12):
I get it, Paris, I get it. And you would
have found that out if you had it checked out.
You're the fourth one today, the fourth one today who
bought a used car without having it checked out and
then called me for help. Okay, it's usually too late
once you buy it. As far as this, I mean,

(02:01:32):
we need to get this guy. You know what, Kachino,
Why don't you just call this car concepts call him
right now and say you're being accused of altering paperwork
and charging twelve grand for a total wreck.

Speaker 3 (02:01:43):
Just call him. I want to hear what the hell
he says, When did you do? When did you buy this?

Speaker 14 (02:01:52):
This would have been. How would it be. It's about
three months now, three months?

Speaker 3 (02:02:01):
Yeah, yeah, and he has he been trying to get
payments or anything.

Speaker 14 (02:02:07):
He did initially and now we can't. We can't get
a hold of him.

Speaker 3 (02:02:12):
How are you going to get your plates? Do you
have the title? Do you have the title?

Speaker 14 (02:02:20):
He had?

Speaker 10 (02:02:21):
He?

Speaker 14 (02:02:21):
No, he has the title, and that's that you even
trying to get a hold of him to a payment.
I can't get a hold of him, hold of him.

Speaker 3 (02:02:32):
Oh my god, I can't believe the ripoffs going on.
I just can't believe it. I swear to God, have
you gone down in person?

Speaker 14 (02:02:41):
Nobody is actually ever there?

Speaker 3 (02:02:44):
Where is it located? Where is it located?

Speaker 4 (02:02:47):
Brother?

Speaker 3 (02:02:48):
Where is it located? Union of Art, Union Springs? No?

Speaker 10 (02:02:54):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (02:02:54):
Is it the Colorado Springs? Yes?

Speaker 12 (02:02:57):
It is?

Speaker 10 (02:02:58):
It is?

Speaker 4 (02:02:59):
Okay, Okay, I mean I don't know. I mean I
swear to God that people are walking into lion traps
and then saying, Tom, help me get out of it.
We need to put somebody on this, Kashina. I also
want to call down there and see what the hell
they say have to say about this? All right, after this,

Speaker 4 (02:04:16):
I'm listen. I'm really getting tired of people getting ripped off.
But what I'm more tired about is they let themselves
get ripped off. They first of all, here's what they do.
They buy a piece of crap used car with excessive mileage.
They do not get it checked out, they don't look
what they sign, and they they walk away with major

problems or ride away and then call.

Speaker 4 (02:05:08):
First of all, they don't answer, but if you can
leave a message, leave a message and tell them you
heard about him on the Tom Martino Show. Let's figure
out what the hell they're doing.

Speaker 3 (02:05:18):
First of all, he thought he was buying it for
twenty three hundred, which is unreal anyway, because those vans
are going for ten grand or whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (02:05:26):
The Avenger is going for ten grand. Su Why did
he think he was buying it for twenty three hundred?
Then he said it was in a major wreck. He
can't get the title.

Speaker 3 (02:05:36):
I mean, this is a cluster. It's a total cluster.
What's the number down there? Thank you?

did you hear how many of these problems?

Speaker 4 (02:06:48):

many problems on this show would not occur if people
checked out a car before they bought.

(02:08:56):
past week has been an experience in used car salesmen
and contractors. Home contractors suck too, by the way, not
not K and H KH Home Solutions.

Speaker 3 (02:09:09):
By the way, if you're looking for painters, they now
have painting KH Painting Pros. Go to KH Windows dot com. Tisha,
you have a comment on contractors in general, go ahead.

Speaker 23 (02:09:24):
Yeah, I have a contract three about three years ago. Friends,
I was building a little shop bowbas shop or drink shop,
and she got ripped off for like twenty grand she
put down for him to finish the job and it
was never finished.

Speaker 3 (02:09:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:09:40):
Most of the time, when you make it down payment,
when you make it down payment, most of for most contractors,
the money is going to another job.

Speaker 23 (02:09:50):
That's what I say. In my case, I know in
California they have a contractors licensing board called so many people.
I got to run around. I ended up talking to Dora.
They sent secretary of state. Secretary of state there told
me they had six hundred complaints about contractors in one year.

(02:10:13):
In one year, So.

Speaker 3 (02:10:15):
Why doesn't that I don't doubt that at all. I
don't doubt that at all.

Speaker 8 (02:10:20):
I know, but it's for me.

Speaker 23 (02:10:23):
I would never hire anybody if they wanted money upfront. No,
I will just pay for the equipment. I'll pay for
the uh, you know, everything I needed by myself with
a you know, a habit delivered.

Speaker 3 (02:10:37):
Here's what I think contractors.

Speaker 4 (02:10:40):
Contractors always say to me, well, how do I know
I'm going to get paid?

Speaker 3 (02:10:44):
And here's what I tell them.

Speaker 4 (02:10:45):
If you can't qualify a buyer up front with an
application with a customer, don't do business with them. If
you can't trust them to pay you, you shouldn't even
be working for them.

Speaker 23 (02:10:58):
Exactly. But why is there are a contractors licensing board
like they have in Califoria.

Speaker 3 (02:11:04):
There are contracts.

Speaker 14 (02:11:07):
And media there are.

Speaker 4 (02:11:10):
There are contractor licensing boards all over Colorado.

Speaker 3 (02:11:16):
Why do you think there's not the state?

Speaker 9 (02:11:18):
No, it's the state.

Speaker 23 (02:11:20):
There's one in California and everybody you open up arbitration
and it's one, and there's an attorney there and they
listen to both sides and you bring all your your discovery, everything,
and then they make a decision, oh that we owe
you this amount of money and if they don't pay,
they lose their license.

Speaker 10 (02:11:41):
And this is for the state.

Speaker 23 (02:11:42):
The state candles this. The state pays for this board.
It's not all these different boards. Whoever opens them up,
you know privately, whatever is this is a state thing.

Speaker 8 (02:11:54):
Now, Secretary of States, now, don't do jack about it,
you know, because they got six hundred complaints and it
continues because there's no accountability if they have you're right
in the state. You know, a governing board from the
state that governs this and it's only applies to people
who have licenses from the okay and okay, and you

(02:12:18):
know this is how I work. I got eight thousand
dollars back from a roofer in California.

Speaker 23 (02:12:24):
I complaint.

Speaker 3 (02:12:25):
Yeah, but but we don't we don't have we don't
have that in Colorado. We just don't have it. We don't.

Speaker 4 (02:12:32):
Well, okay, but you know what, I don't know why
they don't. They have an electrical and they have plumbing
on the state level. That's the only thing they have.
If you you know, if you think that would help,
I don't know if it would help or not. I mean,
it would be better than nothing. At this point, I
think I've always been for less government and more personal responsibility.

(02:12:56):
But but I'm beginning to think people are too stud
stupid to protect themselves.

Speaker 3 (02:13:02):
I am so disgusted. I am so disgusted with where
things have gone. I'm really serious.

Speaker 4 (02:13:11):
I'm just so disgusted with how many people have been
ripped off lately that I'm beginning to believe.

Speaker 3 (02:13:18):
That people are too stupid to protect themselves.

Speaker 4 (02:13:21):
They take no responsibility for their mistakes, none at all.
Thanks for calling. All they do is say, you know,
they put me in this car. They wouldn't let me
get the car checked out.

Speaker 3 (02:13:32):
What kind of a stupid comment is that they wouldn't
let me check the car out? What does that mean?

Speaker 4 (02:13:38):
Okay, then don't buy it. Nobody's forcing you to buy it.
They wouldn't let me check.

Speaker 3 (02:13:44):
The car out, they wouldn't let me talk my no joyce,
they wouldn't let me check the car out.

Speaker 4 (02:13:50):
And they put me into this loan and they only
gave me this for my trade in. You notice they
always say these people did this to me. They did
it to me because each one of these callers, they
were brought up with mommy and daddy and total entitlement.
They never learned to protect themselves. You see, a little

(02:14:13):
lion cub even learns how to protect itself. We don't
learn how to protect ourselfs anymore because mommy and daddy
or the government will take care of us. Yeah, Mommy,
Daddy and the government. Guess what, all of a sudden
they find out. Wait a minute, mommy and Daddy lied

(02:14:36):
to me. The world doesn't cater to me.

Speaker 3 (02:14:40):
Oh boo hoo. Now I got to go to the government.
But guess what. The government doesn't cater to you either.
Look in the mirror. That is the person who is
responsible to you. I say this out of love.

Speaker 4 (02:15:00):
It may not sound very loving right now, but I
my heart actually aches for these.

Speaker 3 (02:15:07):
People that called in today.

Speaker 4 (02:15:09):
I feel bad for Paris, who who thought he was
buying a twelve thousand dollars vehicle for twenty three hundred
and was shocked to see that the twenty three hundred
was only a down payment.

Speaker 3 (02:15:23):
He said, they scribbled it out after I signed it.

Speaker 4 (02:15:26):
And what about the two thousand and eight Hondavan with
one hundred and thirty thousand miles on it that Brian bought.
He wanted to know, will my warranty cover the timing belt,
which is normal maintenance? What about Ronda bought a twenty
eighteen Hondo Cord with one hundred and twenty thousand miles
on it and it immediately went into limp mode.

Speaker 3 (02:15:47):
And she said the bank repossessed it.

Speaker 4 (02:15:50):
Now now the company wants fifty six hundred dollars for
me for the repossessed car and the repairs on my trade.
How do people get in these problems? What about bread
who called and said I applied for a job. I
went through the process online, I signed a contract.

Speaker 3 (02:16:07):
And they didn't tell me I had to work eight
thirty to four thirty every day.

Speaker 4 (02:16:12):
They didn't tell me that. I thought I was able
to pick my own hours. For God's sakes, I swear
to God, we listen to this everyday.

Speaker 3 (02:16:23):
People. Let's start helping each other.

Speaker 4 (02:16:27):

When you choose Frank durand the real estate man dot

three nine two zero sixteen twenty two. Hey, Anthony, I'm
Tom Archino. You have a question on used car sales.
Go ahead, Anthony, Can you hear me?

Speaker 3 (02:17:18):
Yes? I can, Anthony, what's happening?

Speaker 10 (02:17:21):
I was wondering because you always say that.

Speaker 3 (02:17:25):
You buy a car as is, that they.

Speaker 14 (02:17:28):
Can they can disclose information. They have to ask your
right questions.

Speaker 4 (02:17:36):
No, No, here's what I said. If you buy a
car as is, absolutely everything is on you. Everything, Okay, okay,
just assume everything is on you. As soon as you
drive off the lot. Everything that happens to that car
is yours. Now, if they lie to you, that's different.

(02:17:58):
But see, but here's the problem, Anthony, how do you
even prove they lied to you? Why would anyone take
on that responsibility to have to go to court and
prove someone lied to you or cheated you.

Speaker 3 (02:18:12):
It's much easier either.

Speaker 4 (02:18:15):
One, don't buy cars as is, or two, if you're
going to buy them as is, make sure you know
what the is means. Okay, the as is. Take it
to a mechanic and have them go through it from
top to bottom.

Speaker 6 (02:18:33):
So if they lie to you and you find out
later that there is a problem, you can't do anything
about it.

Speaker 3 (02:18:39):
Yes, yes you can if they specifically lied to you.

Speaker 4 (02:18:43):
For example, if they said to you, if they told
you the transmission was rebuilt and it wasn't, and later
on Jeff Fix says, this transmission is deplorable.

Speaker 3 (02:18:56):
It was never rebuilt.

Speaker 4 (02:18:58):
You can take them to small claims court, you can
take them to regular court, but there's no automatic system
of justice. So all I'm saying is this, even if
they said the transmission was rebuilt.

Speaker 3 (02:19:11):
You have to have it checked out.

Speaker 4 (02:19:14):
Because even if you're right and you can prove that
they're wrong, it's going to cost you money. It's easier,
it's easier just not to believe anyone about anything and
get the car checked out. I am not telling you
they have a right to lie, and shit, they don't.
But it takes you and your money to prove that.

(02:19:38):
Why put yourself in the position. Why would you have
to put yourself in a position to hire an attorney and.

Speaker 3 (02:19:46):
To go after people? Why would you do that? Don't
put yourself in that position. I would assume you're that question.

Speaker 10 (02:19:54):
I was just thinking about that everything you're talking about today.

Speaker 3 (02:19:58):
Yeah, it's so.

Speaker 14 (02:19:59):
Indeed, he's in that situation.

Speaker 3 (02:20:02):
They you know, if they lied about it, if they can.

Speaker 4 (02:20:07):
And you're right, they're not allowed, Anthony, you're correct, they're
not allowed to lie to you. But as I said,
if someone lied to you, it would cost you time
and money to prove it, okay, because it's not automatic.
It's not like you can go to God and say God,
he lied about this and then they undo the deal.

(02:20:27):
It doesn't work that way. If someone lied to you,
you still have the burden of going after that person.
That is a big burden. I mean, especially if a
dealer wants to fight you over it. You'd have to
bring in proof. You have to bring in experts. My
God in heaven, you're making yourself go through all kinds

(02:20:48):
of stuff you don't have.

Speaker 3 (02:20:49):
To go through.

Speaker 4 (02:20:50):
But you're right, they're not allowed to lie to you.
But Mommy and Daddy won't be there to bail you out.
I'm Tom Martine, and I swear to you I love
helping people. I do.

Speaker 3 (02:21:02):
I love it. But you gotta help me too, help
yourself
