Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's a holiday weekend. We're headed into a holiday weekend,
and a lot of people think, well.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
You know, you're gonna forget about all the news of
the day that's going on, and all the stuff that's
happening with the politics and all the day. And I
say to that, good, good, we can we can use
a break from that stuff now and then.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
We can use a little rest, relaxation and family time.
And uh, as I've been saying throughout the morning, I'm
just I'm tickled. My mom used to say that tickled.
But uh, the weather forecast has changed for Memorial Day Monday.
Although it won't be a pool day by any stretch,
it does look like it's going to be conducive to
to gather in the family in the backyard and firing
(00:37):
up the grill, and and uh and just doing some
of that traditional Memorial Day stuff and uh and Kroger,
the Kroger Company, is helping out with that. And I
think this is just a wonderful thing. If if you
are a member of the us r M forces, we'll
start with that, and uh and and just and bring
to you Mike Bruce here. He's Kroger Croker's corporate affairs
(00:59):
manager here in the Columbs division. Mike, you're doing something
pretty nice for the veterans on Monday.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
We are good morning, Chuck, and here here by the way,
on your comments about the news of the day and
just enjoying some time this weekend. That's that's that's really
what we're trying to do and offer a ten percent
discount on Memorial Day to all active duty and former
military members. I don't know if many people know, Kroger
is the longest serving supporter of the USO. We've been
(01:27):
a partner of the USO for decades, and so this
just continues our support of active duty and veterans, activeduty
and former veterans across the United States military. Ten percent
discount on Memorial Day. To show your idea at any
of our stores and you'll get it. So you can
get those discounts on that grilling bundle or anything you
need to spend some time with the family this.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Weekend, and that you know ten especially if you're your
family eats, Like my gosh, that I could say a
lot of money right there. I'm just being honest with you.
And then you mentioned that grilling bundle. I was just
reading the menu items here. This is quite a nice
little bunch of stuff you've put together.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Absolutely no special discount or no special you know mentioned
needed for that. Those are just the items that make
that perfect backyard barbecue, you know, from the burgers to
the cheese, to your hamburger buns, hot dogs as well,
and even some baked potato and potato salad. Just the
things that you need right for a perfect grilling bundle.
(02:25):
If you purchase those items together, it's on our website.
It's listed there. These are the things that are in there.
You can get it for about fifty five dollars fifty
six bucks, give or take. For a group of anywhere
from fifteen to sixteen, that's about three fifty a person.
So that's a great deal. So you can have your
backyard barbecue this memorial a week in which it's gonna
feel a little bit like Halloween, but you can still
(02:46):
be outside.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
You can still be outside. And again, you know, as
you said, this breaks down what fifty five to fifty
six bucks for this bundle. But as I am reading
through this list of stuff, you've got the beef patties,
you got the Oscar Mara wieners, you got the crower
mustard today, the bushes baked beans in there. You got
all this stuff breaking down to three fifty. There's not
a fast food joint out there that can give you
(03:09):
a value meal for that at this point. This is
a really great deal. Plus you get the whole concept
of family togetherness and holiday that's wonderful.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Absolutely, and that's what we're trying to do, right We
know folks are just looking for the opportunity to gather together,
spend some quality time together on a budget. We of
course understand that it's our mission right now to bring
people food at the best price that we can, and
that's what we're trying to do. These items that are
essential for your backyard barbecue time, get them together, get
(03:38):
them at a price that can really make it make
sense for any family that wants to do it. So
that's what we're trying to do. This from the World
Day weekend and then also offering discount on top for
those who have worked to defend our country for many,
many years. So we're just glad to be a part
of the community and help out in whatever way we can.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Absolutely would if well, this is Mark Bruce by the
way on the Legacy Retirement Group dot com Fulmline, Tis
Kroger corporate Affairs manager here for the Columbus Division, and
Mark before we say goodbye, you and the Ohio A
Beef Council. You got a little something special going on
up there in Lewis Center today, don't you.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Absolutely, yeah, this is pretty cool. So we're working with
people in need of Delaware County, which is the largest
food pantry organization in Delaware County, and the first five
hundred people that come to our store on the Columbus Pike,
the Lewis Center store sixty four to seventeen Columbus Pike,
first five hundred folks that show up at noon and
donate a non perishable food item. We'd love if they
(04:31):
donate a basket or a cartful. But if you donate,
we'll give you free lunch, which means we will grill
out a Windy's Fresh Paddy, which we have exclusively at
our store. You'll get some free delayed chips. We even
have some velvet ice cream sandwiches as well, and then
all the fixing's courtesy of Boors Heads, So we're calling
it grilling for good. Donate help feed your hungry neighbors.
(04:53):
And Kroger, the Beef Council and all those great partners
I mentioned will feed you lunch noon at the Lewis
Center store. What better way get some lunch, feed some people,
help some people out.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
And have a great burger cursy of Wendy's and a
good way to start summer, I mean, the unofficial start
of summer is this, we get a good way to
start summer is with a positive attitude and doing something
good for your fellow human being.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
You can't beat that.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
You cannot beat that, and that's our goal today. That's
exactly why we are trying to do something a little
bit fun. When you think more of that, you think grilling.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Right.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
So this is our way to say, let's get out here,
let's help some folks and get a great lunch and
get you in the summer spirit.
