Speaker 1 (00:00):
I do want to talk about what's going on on
Capitol Hill with President Biden's former White House physician on
the Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line from Fox
News on Capitol Hill.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
It is Ryan Schmel's Schmells. Good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Former White House physician Kevin O'Connor was in a closed
door interview yesterday with the House Oversight Committee. Didn't last
very long because he didn't say anything what's going on?
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Nope, Kevin O'Connor walked in, he pled the fifth on
a number of questions, then.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
He walked out.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
So there's so a lot of questions. Hows Republicans have
for for President Biden's former position, and you know, maybe
they'll get them down the road. He is, you know,
is going into yesterday. His doctor had said that he
was interested in potentially going in late July and early August,
but just wanted this one delayed because of hippo concerns.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Yeah, the notion that he could have violated the patient
physician privilege, that's one thing, and then the fifth invoking
the fifth and men ments another thing. Because he wasn't
asked about the specifics of Biden's health. He was mainly
asked if he was told to lie about it.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Uh A, right, you said that long time. Chat Berger
was just walking by. We had some dude.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
They told me, well, give give chat our best.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
No, the difference between patient patient physician privilege is different
than the fifth because Kevin O'Connor wasn't asked about the
specifics of Biden's health and he wouldn't reveal anything that
you know, would have violated that privilege. He was asked
if he was ever been told to lie about the
president's health?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Yeah. Man, And and you know this was I mean,
you know, usually I think people think when they when
you plead the fifth is it's usually related to some
type of criminal investigation or you know that you're you're
trying to avoid incriminating yourself. You know, we don't know
what the ultimate method behind why he did this was
and why they decided the Fifth Amendment was the the
way to go, but ultimately they do have a legal
(01:58):
right to the Fifth if they don't feel like talking.
And that's exactly what you saw doctor Kevin O'Connor do yesterday.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
It always seems like that there is some sort of
guilt associated that if you invoke the Fifth you've got
some sort of criminal liability that you're not willing to share.
So so what's next. What happens next on this investigation into.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
As I said before, you know, maybe that July and
that August date is still on the table for doctor O'Connor.
We'll see. But also, you know, this is not the
only witness that House Republicans want to talk to you.
There's a number of people that they still are hoping
to bring in down the road. That includes President Biden's
former chief of staff and his former deputy chief of staff.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
And could we see them come in and plead the
fifth as well?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
I mean, I don't think you can rule anything out
at this point. Yeah, well, they're not going to be
able to use patient client privilege, they're not doctors, but
you know, they might be able to cite national security,
you know, issues that they don't want to talk about
sensitive information. But you know, keep my near attendant, who's
a form of biden aide, she sat for a number
of hours with the committee. So we'll see if these
(03:09):
other witnesses are willing to do the same. Here. Some
of these folks have voluntarily agreed to come and speak
to the committee. Others have had to be kind of
forced you through subpoena.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Interesting, well, thank you for that report on Capitol Hill,
Fox News, Ryan Schmelz
