Changes coming to OSU Gameday...Are you good with it?

Mike and Campy discuss the changes to gameday at Ohio State including ringing the Victory Bell BEFORE kickoff!

I wanted to spend a couple of seconds talking about
the changes at Ohio State and game day. Yeah, you know,
Ross Buyorke came out and they're making some well, they're
saying improvements to the game day atmosphere. I don't know
that the game day atmosphere needed improving, can't be. I
it's one of the best places to watch a college
football game in the country.

This is yeah, I go ahead, you can set it up.

Well, I'll set it up.

There's a couple there's a lot of like scoreboard stuff
and music stuff that you expect, you know, someone to
come in and want to make it, you know, pop
on game day and make it feel like a fun
place to be sure. Some of the big ones having
to do with tradition the victory bell, which typically was
you know what, you could hear that. Geez, you could
hear that in Arlington on a clear day and that

bell would be amazing. Buck, guys win you ring the bell? Yep,
they're going to ring the bell now before every game.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
No, no, I totally disagree with it. It's called the
victory bell. There's a thing where you're jinxing it. I'm sorry, man,
but I do something else, claiming victory before the game
even started. Yeah that that Hey, man, if that wouldn't
fire up, tell me that wouldn't fire up.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Texas people that have now understand now know what's happening.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
They're also going to ring it on third downs to
try to get the crowd amped up on third downs
when the.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
But see, we have the the ACDC thing that's gone
on forever, that's been a that and you know who started.
I'm pretty sure we did, because now it's at every stadium.
And I understand you want to have the difference. Yeah,
but don't do the victory.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Bell before the game. I just don't. It's too that's
too long standing a tradition for me.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I tend to agree, and I you know, I'm not
a turn out to be a you know, stuck in
the mud. You know, back in my day it was
better kind of thing. But then traditions are traditions for
a reason.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Well, yeah, that's why it's called the victory bowt not
the Hey you're already in trouble.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
We're ringing the bell ahead of time.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Tennessee said they wanted to play with the flag before
they came to Iowa Stadium.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Guess what happened. Yeah, I'm just saying, see what I mean,
I'm big on that. I'm I'm too superstitious.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Man, Listen, I don't mess with that, right, I understand.
I'm with you. And the other one too, is moving
the band.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
They're moving the band back to the north, the north end,
the north stands away from the open end. And they're
doing that because they got all the luxury boxes going
in there.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yeah, I forbid we mess with the CEOs and the
big times. You know, although it's enclosed right there, so
I get the acoustics of it. It'd be loud on that,
it'll be loud, and I'll be down near that, so
I get it, I guess.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
But it's good. I need it just as loud on
the other side too.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
So let's not have people who really aren't that paying
that close of attention or making a deal, or they're
having cocktails.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
It's like, hey, need you loud over here? What are
you doing?

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Are you good?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
With a scarlet out? Versus Texas? And then the blackout
versus Penn State. Yep, yeah, I just hope that Penn
State the blackout to night game. It should be blackout
at noon doesn't have the same feel at all.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
No, No, well, the Scarlett I'm okay.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
I'm okay with that because it's during the day, so
it's neither here nor there.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
The blackout at Penn State, that's big time. It needs
to be game.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
It probably won't be if Fox because Fox has got
the contract. We've talked about this a million times. They're
gonna want the They're gonna want the Marquee game, and
that will be the Marquee game that week.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I don't care who's playing, that's gonna be the game.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
I think they'll change it, I really do.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
I'm hoping to god they change it because I've been
at a blackout at night and they are something different.
It is dark, it is, and it is it's almost
spooky intimidating.

Yeah, it just is. If they wear the black you
know the blackout jerseys too. I mean that one click
