Speaker 1 (00:00):
Over to the Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line,
we find Rory O'Neil, NBC News Radio. Rory, you've probably
got your Christmas shopping already. Lockdown, man, You've you've hit
the Amazon your Prime Days. You've got all your stuff
in the mail and you're all set.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah, well not quite. Days just started a few hours ago.
They run through July eleventh. But a new reminder that
I've really seen bubbling up more and more is that
remember a lot of third party sellers operate on Amazon,
So people have companies and just use Amazon as a
conduit to sell that stuff to you. But what's happening
(00:36):
is those many of those third party sellers, they were
jacking up their prices artificially months ago in order to
announce big So it looks like there are big pricing
deals for Amazon Prime. Soince says, thirty forty fifty percent
off with Amazon Prime. Yeah, it's only because they doubled
the price last month, so it may not really be
(00:57):
a deal.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, you should definitely do some comparison shop, I think.
And so now is that just the third parties is
so stuff that's actually being sold by Amazon. You can
get some deals on this well right, and look.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
You get there are still plenty of third party deals
out there, don't get me wrong, but there are websites
that will help you out here. If you go in,
you can put in the either the number or the
web address for that Amazon item you want to buy.
Put it in some of these websites. I'll listen to
a second and it will give you the It will
show you the price history what that item has been
priced at over the past year, so you can see, aha,
(01:32):
they've just jacked this up in April, so that it
looks like it's suddenly a big deal in July. So
websites like kipa k ee pa, It's keeper but with
a Boston accent.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
OK.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Dot Com Yeah, Camel Camel Camel, Yeah, and Honey are
just three of the biggest ones in that. But you
can look up price tracker on Amazon and find one
on your own. But yeah, those price trackers use it,
especially if you're buying something it's expensive, you know, if
it's a few hundred bucks for that you know, automatic
vacuum cleaner or something. Definitely check out exactly what the
(02:06):
price history of that item has been.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
And it's not just Amazon Prime Day or Prime Days
because it is the rest of the week now. I
mean Target and Walmart also offering similar deals this week.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
They are essentially brick and mortar. Target and Walmart are
trying to do what they can to compete against the
big e commerce giant in Walmart, so there are big
sales at those locations as well. And again, there are
plenty of price shopping tools out there on the web
to help you out to find what a real deal is.
So just the message here is just because it says
(02:38):
forty percent off on that vacuum cleaner, don't necessarily believe
it's such a It may have been manipulated.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah no, that's great information. Thank you for those tips
this morning, and happy shopping today. Roy O'Neil, NBC News Radio,
