Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, I'm a Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line.
(00:02):
He is running for a US Senate in the state
of Ohio. He is Bernie Marino. Bernie, I know you're
a busy guy. Thanks for the time this morning.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
How are you?
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Of course happy to be with you, Mike, glad.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
You're able to jump on with us.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Bernie, got a lot of ground to cover a short
amount of time, so we'll get at it. You know,
there's a number of top concerns heading into the election,
which by the way, is three weeks from today. Of course,
the economy, immigration. Will get to those in a minute,
but I wanted to start off with what kind of
priority when you defeat Shared Brown and are elected to
the Senate? Kind of priority you got to put on
(00:36):
the national debt? Nearly forty trillion dollars. It's just it's
kind of a wonky topic for a lot of people.
It's big numbers. People can't draw a direct line between
their personal finance and the national debt, so they kind
of tune it out.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
But it's really important.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
How would you handle that, What kind of priority would
you make that and what cuts would you make to
try to trim that national debt.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Well, first of all, the debt was three trillion when
Sharon Brown went to DC. It's not almost thirty six trillions.
So you can see he's probably not the guy's going
to solve it. The reality is when you send a
bunch of career politicians down there who've never even run
a business, let alone have a job, they have no
idea how to do it. I run many businesses. This
is what we're going to do, Mike. The first thing
we're going to do is we're going to unleash American energy.
(01:22):
This country's going to become a powerhouse energy provider that's
going to drive the prices of everything down. We're going
to massively cut government spending. I'll give you some examples.
Last year, we spent half a trillion dollars on illegal
immigrants in this country, housing them, feeding them, giving him
free healthcare. Kamala Harris wants to give them free sex
(01:42):
change operations. We're going to deport anybody who's in this
country illegally. We're also going to make certain that we
get rid of the waste fraud abuse it's in our
federal government. It's estimated to be in the trillions of dollars.
We're going to get rid of some of these agencies
that don't make any sense, like the Department of Education
and just moves that money to the states. We're going
to move these agencies out of DC, so you have
(02:04):
some attrition in the federal government. We have two and
a half million federal bureaucrats, which almost two thirds of
them don't even work in the office anymore. They're all
working remote, which means they're probably not even working. So
we're gonna do that on the expense side of things.
On the revenue side of things, we're going to absolutely
get rid of these regulations that are crippling businesses. We're
going to put a tax environment that encourages growth. We're
(02:25):
going to put work requirements on our welfare programs to
make sure that people go out into the workplace and
grow our GDP at four or five percent. We do
both of those things, and we can actually start to
bend the curve in our deficit. I'll tell you something,
my opponent gets re elected, Kamala Harris gets elected, Heaven forbid,
this country is going to go off a fiscal cliff
by the by the end of our term. Is they
(02:47):
are spending disasters. Shared Brown voted for trillions of dollars
of totally complete wastefle spending, like subsidizing solar panels, giving
millionaires seventy five hundred dollars sentence, the lease electric vehicles
incredibly insane. We're gonna get rid of all that.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I'm glad you brought up energy too, because it seems
so simple. We have so many resources in this country,
starting with drill, baby drill, and that's just for me.
It starts there because everything comes down after energy prices
come down. Speaking with Bernie Moreno, candidate for US Senate
here at Ohio, you mentioned immigration and some of those
policies there, and you've got obviously a story. He came
(03:24):
to this country in the early seventies from Columbia with
your parents. He became a US citizen when you were
eighteen years old.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Bernie.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
The question is is is our system broken or is
it just not being executed properly by the Harris Biden administration.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
No, it's been totally corrupted by the likes of Harris
Biden and Shared Brown. Here's Mike something you may not
know that it's so outrageous. You're gonna have to look
this up. We send private jets to Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua,
and Venezuela to the tune of half a million people
this year, fly them into America and then dump them
on our social safety that programs. So we literally send
(03:59):
airplane to Venezuela, pick people up and bring them here
and make independent on our government. If you were the
head of Venezuela, if you were in Aduro, what would
you put on that plane? Think about that? Yet we
do that. Sharon Brown voted against stopping that. Think about that.
That's how insane our immigration policies are because of the
extreme left. Look, we're gonna have a vibrant, legal immigration
(04:21):
system where people learn the language, assimilate to our culture,
understand they're not here for government benefits, don't lower American wages,
and add to our economy. We're gonna have that is
our criteria. We're going to welcome people to this country
and we're absolutely not going to have any tolerance for
people that are here illegally.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Well, and as someone who has done that, and you
witnessed your family do that, you came in when you
were five years old, you did it the right way.
You become a successful businessman. You're going to be the
next senator in Ohio. And there is a place for
legal migrants in this country. You just can't dump thousands
of people into cities and expect it to work.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Well, if it were only thousands, it's millions. I mean,
it's tens of thousands just in Springfield. It's millions all
over the country. We've we've brought the entire population of
Ohio into this country in the last three and a
half years.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Foreign policy is also on the top couple of items
that most people are worried about, and it's I don't
care who you are, if you are a Kamala Harris
voter or you're a Donald Trump voter. One thing that
we all agree on is under the Trump administration, there
were zero, zero foreign wars or conflicts. And these are
just facts. Now we've got two. We're now involved with
(05:34):
US troops in the Middle East. We're sending billions of
dollars to Ukraine. It's ridiculous. How do we how do
we reverse that? How do we get out of these
these hotspots in the Middle East, in the Russia Ukraine conflict?
Speaker 2 (05:47):
What's the what's the foreign policy stance?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Bernie well, my opponent is all in favor of sending
hundreds of billions of dollars to Ukraine. He says he
stands with the people of Ukraine. I se him with
the people of America. That conflict has seeing a million
people dead or injured over the last two and a
half years, completely ridiculous. It should never have happened, and
by the way, it didn't happen, as you pointed out
when President Trump was in the White House, because President
Trump was about peace through strength. Kamala Harris shared Brown,
(06:12):
Joe Biden are all the same. They're war because of
weakness and what we've seen around the world every corner
of the globe is American weakness is projected by Joe Biden,
and as a result, conflicts emerge. We have to have strength.
We have to have a strong military that deters any
foreign conflicts. Our job is to ensure peace and stability
around the world, that to fight endless wars. I have
(06:33):
a twenty six year old son, I have a twenty
eight year old son. I don't want them going into
fighting wars that we can't win, that have no clear objective,
that don't have America's interest in mind. Share Brown shockingly
because you think it used to be that the Democrats
are the party of peace.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Now they're the warmongers, safe to say, Bernie, and I
think the number one issue is the economy.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
For people.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
They want lower inflation, they want low groceries, they want
low rents, they want want to be able to.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Buy a home.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Safe to say, you're a supply side guy when it
comes to economic theory, and we're talking about low taxes,
lowering regulations of free trade.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
I mean, let's get this economy home.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
And again, yeah, absolutely, you need business people to do that, Mike.
That's really think we keep sending. We keep sending these politicians. Look,
Sharon Brown, I don't know. I really don't know him.
I don't know if he's a good person, bad person.
I have no idea, And it's not really the point.
Here's the thing. He went to college in the early seventies,
majored in Russian studies. It has been elected office his
(07:33):
whole life. He doesn't have any idea how the economy works.
And here's the other thing. He's been in DC for
thirty years, Mike, I would bet that he has not
paid for a meal in thirty years. Because he's lobbyists
buy them breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They fly them all over,
they put them up in hotels, They have cars that
are expensed by the tax payers. He has no idea
(07:55):
what people actually face every day when they go to
the grocery store, where they go to restaurants. Business people
know how to get that done. I'll get it done.
I've gotten it done in my life, and that's what
we need more business people to step up to go
to DC.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
It's the whole Hey, hey, shared what's a gallon of
milk costs? And he probably could not give you an
accurate answer because he's so out of touch. Sent a candidate,
Bernie Marino joins me, Bernie, I'll let you fly. Probably
the hardest question I'm going to ask you is how
do we fix the problem with a quarterback in Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Well, you know what, I'm a Cleveland Browns fan. So
the season is not over yet. We're still gonna make
it to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Mike, come on, now, come on, you're a delusional Bernie.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Now I'm just a Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Fan, which is the same thing. That's right
