Speaker 3 (00:00):
Camping.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
I would just talk that I was. I was rather
excited that I got to seventy nine minus my six
cent card discount a couple of days ago, that is
when I filled up. But I just opened up my
gas search app here for the central Ohio Columbus area
right around the corner camp to sixty three dig it
two sixty three and UH and down the road from
that two sixty seven to sixty nine and other uh

(00:21):
substantially and in quite a few UH gas stations right
here around the radio station significantly under three bucks a gallon,
which is a great way to have a holiday.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Unfortunately, my gas tank doesn't go with the price because
I was at like a quarter of a tank, so
I had to fill up. If I could have just
held on until this weekend, i'd i'd have been money.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yeah. Then this is I. I just I love seeing
this because I think it stimulates people to get out
there and do stuff, and I will at last. I
guess that's the big question. Ray our teacher Vino oil
and gas expert who's been kind of a mainstay here
on the show for I don't know seventy eighty years.
But we go to Ray when we want real answers
about the oil economy and how things are rolling here

(01:06):
and ray good morning to you. Should I be hopeful
or not?

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Oh? Definitely good morning and having more moral day to
you all. Let's be hopeful this Memorial Day weekend, guys,
oil gasoline prices are at a four year low, and
this is just exciting. We've got almost forty million people
estimated to be on the roads this weekend, to be
doing all that grilling on Monday and making those kids

(01:31):
eat those chart World burgers or.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Hot dogs or you know, occasionally some rocks from the
garden if I don't have anything else to put. But
it's going to be charborol and they're gonna like it.
The average price around this country is it's We use
it as a guideline, especially in media stuff, but it's
so blasted deceptive because you know, from California to New
York there's a whole lot in the middle that we

(01:55):
have a big roller coaster. Do you think that's an
it's an accurate way of looking at how we're doing
when it comes to gas prices and oil production.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
You know, it is a little bit difficult every now
and then, considering every state has different taxes and certain
additives that they are putting in their gasoline that each
state requires or doesn't require. However, that being said, it
is a cylical thing in the sense that you know,

(02:24):
as a price of oil fluctuates up or down, we
do see it in the price of our gasoline. And
since we have been down about ten dollars now for
about six weeks, we have seen the price go down.
The national average is somewhere around three to ten, and
here the great State of Texas, we're just under three
dollars right now. So I think you guys are doing
pretty well over there.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I know that the piece that you put out this week,
you said for heading into summer here this is the
lowest average price we've had since twenty one. But more importantly,
further down in the article, when adjusted for inflation, this
is some pretty dog gone good news two thousand and three.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Is that.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
That's inspiring?

Speaker 3 (03:10):
You know, inflation is the key to everything here, as
we all know, when President Biden was in office, he
really shut down his talk about killing oil once inflation
got too high. And President Trump also understands that in
order to truly control inflation, we've got to get energy
prices down. I'm a firm believer in drill, baby drill,

(03:35):
and at this time we also need build baby building.
We need to update our infrastructure so we can get
crude oil to the pipelines, to the refineries, and in
front of the refineries back into pipelines to the final
destination for gasoline.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
And that was a beauty textause I'll be honest, when
I was a youngster, I wanted to grow up to
BJR ew Ing. I did. I'm not gonna lie, but
I wanted to live in Blake Carrington's house, which was
kind of a weird, but anyway, the whole oil industry
in Texas was just you know, that was that was
so Americana. As a youngster, I just thought I want
to be a part of that. And seeing that production

(04:13):
ramped up. We haven't heard the word Keystone in quite
a while. Is that is the Keystone pipeline still in play?
Or do we care at this point because of all
of the energy discoveries down there in the Gulf.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
That's a great question. We definitely do care about the
Keystone pipeline. That'd be an additional uh, at least four
hundred thousand barrels on a low day that would be
able to come into the great United States. But of course,
as you mentioned just now, very smart, uh, you know,
the Gulf of America has some great oil reserves there.

(04:44):
And there's only two things that truly moved a needle
in the oil and gas industry, and that's OPEC and
the Gulf of America. Those two things truly move what
goes on with the price of oil. And I don't
think it's coincidence that we've opened up drilling again due to,
you know, taking the red tape off of the regulations,

(05:05):
but also the fact that our president just got back
from a great trip over in the Middle East, basically
showing them that hey, we're here for you guys, but
also y'all got to be here for us. And you
look at the partnership that's going on in the Middle East,
and not only that, but also the amount of money
that's coming over here for investments is huge.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
I yelled screams, stopped my feed and everything for many,
many years about our refining capacity. We hadn't built a
what's been forty five years since we build a new refinery.
Are we approaching the point ray where that's the hybrid
cars out there, the change in direction with our energy.
Are we approaching the point where building new refineries would

(05:46):
be kind of pointless? Now?

Speaker 3 (05:48):
No, absolutely not, And that's a great point to bring up.
I'm sure you're referring to the fact that Saudi Arabia,
I believe it was them, said that, hey, they're going
to help refurbish our refinery here in I believe it's Texas,
and we will still need that crude oil from all
over the world. We have not built a new refinery,

(06:10):
but we have been refurbishing them. And what makes it
unique about refurbishing these refineries is that we're actually able
to refine the sweet crude of Texas in America. All
of the majority of our refineries here in America actually
at this time can only refine the crude oil that
comes from other countries.
